Im surprised so many people seem to think w0lfstar is canon. I didn't think about it much before but then I read a few takes on how tonks was brought in to spite the shippers and well. Its 'interesting' to say the least
This was me when I first found out Wolfstar was even a ship 💀 I remember literally not knowing who the ship was about and searching it up and being like “..Sirius and REMUS?? that’s a thing???” I was so confused by its popularity
And I LOATHE the argument that “Dora/Remadora was created by JKR to stop people from shipping Wolfstar” with a burning passion, like do these ppl even think twice before sprouting nonsense? They don’t even have proof that Rowling hates Wolfstar, let alone that she created a canon couple for the sake of spitting a ship’s shippers 💀

Let's Talk Teddy Lupin and His VERY REAL Mother, Nymphadora Tonks
Recently I looked through the Teddy Lupin tags and something that jumped out at me was how many Wolfstar raises Teddy posts completely dismiss Tonks. Many of them dismiss that she existed - if she did, it was to provide a child for Remus and Sirius, and she is out of the picture. She is irrelevant and pushed out of the way for Wolfstar to get a kid. (Ditto with Jegulus, Harry, and Lily.)
I understand that there are some who are very anti-Remadora and refuse to acknowledge the role she played in making Teddy happen. But let me list the many, many ways this irks me, not just as a Remadora fan, but as a Tonks fan, and as a human who has spent quite a bit of time thinking (and writing) about reproductive donation.
Anyway. I know it's all fiction/fan fiction and a part of me wants to say let people have their fun, but hear me out, because that reproductive donation bit matters a lot to me.
You can't get Teddy Lupin without Tonks. Even his name is in reference to Tonks. Teddy was named after Edward "Ted" Tonks. Teddy Lupin is Tonks's child. He is also a Metamorphmagus. She is such an integral part of who he is that dismissing his mother's role in his creation and life is deeply unsettling. Insisting that Sirius is Teddy's other parent and pretending Tonks doesn't exist is such a disservice to Tonks as a character (who is a badass).
Let's get to reproductive donation, then. This is something I have studied for years. I am not a donor-conceived person (DCP) but I have researched DCP feelings/attitudes and I'll be the first to tell you that many (though not all) DCPs would be appalled to have their parents (social) dismiss and outright deny the existence of their genetic parents. Go check out We Are Donor Conceived if you don't believe me.
Even if you are a huge shipper of Wolfstar and hate Remadora, dismissing Tonks is troubling for me because of this, too. You can have your slash ships and still acknowledge a child's genetic origins. It's literally the same as real life - you can have LGBT families who acknowledge their children's genetic parents.
Though it might seem like a competition (and real life grownups have issues with this too!) there's no reason a child can't know and have a relationship with their genetic parents, especially if it's involving donor gametes. (I mean donor loosely here, as I'm assuming most Wolfstar/Teddy stans think Tonks donated, while real life "donations" are more like transactions - you can ask me about my opinions on this in my ask box OR check out We Are Donor Conceived.)
All of this is to say that if you ship Wolfstar raising Teddy Lupin, please, please acknowledge that Tonks exists. She is not evil. She is not an afterthought. She is his genetic mother and she is important.
(Admittedly, I have a bias because I love Remadora with every fiber of my being, but I have the same issue with Jegulus/Harry/Lily and I'm largely apathetic about Jily. These thoughts spring more out of my academic/professional studies involving reproductive donation and the industry that surrounds it.)

Can I ask for your favorite Remus scenes please?
Yes of course! <3 Get ready for a lengthy one. 1. Lupin summoning fire into his palm on the train in PoA. It feels very much like an instinctive spell for him. 2. Any scene with Lupin and Snape is just so much fun, great underhanded comments. But I do love the scene where Snape calls Lupin to investigate the map in PoA. It's filled with under pressure thinking and Snape being made a fool of. 3. Speaking of which, Lupin getting upset at Harry for not turning the map in. I love moments where Harry feels guilt over disappointing Lupin, it really shows how much he looked up to him. 4. Black and Lupin stood shoulder to shoulder, wands raised.
“You should have realized,” said Lupin quietly, “if Voldemort didn’t kill you, we would. Good-bye, Peter.” (Enough said, this whole chapter is beautiful) 5. The moment Sirius dies and Lupin is trying to hold it together for Harry. <3 6. When Lupin gets bothered at Harry for not killing/stunning Stan Shunpike. “Harry, the time for Disarming is past! These people are trying to capture and kill you! At least Stun if you aren’t prepared to kill!”
7. HBP when Harry is at the Burrow for Christmas, there are two moments that I love very much because it's supposed to give us clues to the relationship between Lupin and Tonks: Meanwhile, Remus Lupin, who was thinner and more ragged- looking than ever, was sitting beside the fire, staring into its depths as though he could not hear Celestina’s voice. Oh, come and stir my cauldron, And if you do it right, I’ll boil you up some hot strong love To keep you warm tonight. and then the next day Harry (bless him) asks Lupin about Tonks' Patronus changing.
“Tonks’s Patronus has changed its form,” he told him. “Snape said so anyway. I didn’t know that could happen. Why would your Patronus change?”
Lupin took his time chewing his turkey and swallowing before saying slowly, “Sometimes ... a great shock ... an emotional upheaval ...” (The man almost choked on a dry piece of turkey)
8. In HBP I both love and hate the hospital scene, but Lupin sobbing at the news that Dumbledore had died will always gets to me. 9. Lupin in DH really has some great scenes that show him breaking, his nerves are definitely on edge.
The moment Harry arrives at the Burrow, he is filled with panic over a rat being in the Order. This is both a terrible reminder of what happened in the past, but also Tonks isn't back yet. When Harry arrives, Lupin interrogates him:
“What creature sat in the corner the first time that Harry Potter visited my office at Hogwarts?” he said, giving Harry a small shake. “Answer me!”
“A — a grindylow in a tank, wasn’t it?”
Lupin released Harry and fell back against a kitchen cupboard.
And then when he leaves Tonks and Harry is not having any of it: Lupin actually seized handfuls of his own hair; he looked quite deranged. Lupin at the very dark end of his character arc, we love to see it.

... I'm assuming the "Remus doesn't like Tonks at all when they first met" is AU right? Because I read that and was like ?!?!?
Hmm I really wouldn't say AU, my own interpretation sure. But what does canon really tell us?
It tells us that Remus fell in love with her, but not when or how. All canon gives us is that by the time they fetch Harry, Remus is doing some snarky flirting with her (which I doubt he even knows it). But between then and when the Order first gets together, nothing is mentioned.
Remus has too much of a guard on to fall in love with someone at first sight. In fact, any attraction he has for her will at first be faced with a wave of misinterpreted feelings. Irritation and embarrassment comes to mind.
The fic I'm writing will have Remus fall in love eventually and slowly. It's more of a look at him as a character and the way he treats the people that he loves differently. But definitely not AU

"The more you analyse Lupin, the more you wonder why Tonks fell for him" ??? Is this implying that's there's no good qualities of Lupin for Tonks to fall for? Because we seen through lupin interaction with Harry that he has lots of good qualities
Thecat_isexcitedyouaskedanon Yes of course Lupin has good qualities. His loyalty, kindness and patience is probably what drew Tonks in. But that doesn't mean he was easy to fall for. It took some digging, and Tonks is a busy Auror - she didn't sit around and wait for him to open up and show who he was outside of the Order.
Tumblr media
Why is Lupin difficult to fall for?
The man is a wall.
Lupin had many many years to despise himself. By the time we see him again in Ootp he's probably accepted his solitude and feels so unwanted by the world that it's almost impossible for him to imagine a life outside of being hated. He was finally known as a werewolf to the wizarding world, after years of hiding. This added with Umbridge's legislation, being jobless and fighting the guilt of having mourned the wrong friend for 12 years. He is a pretty broken person by now and it's difficult to see how he would allow anyone to get close to him, other than Sirius and Harry (to some degree). But slip ups happen, and with a roof over his head, meals on the table and a new purpose in life (and a second chance to avenge his friends) I think the self-hatred slipped a little. There was a glimpse of a Lupin before his life was turned upside down. So when a pretty and bad-ass Auror walks in, Lupin can't help but feed into that crush: ‘And this is Nymphadora –’ ‘Don’t call me Nymphadora, Remus,’ said the young witch with a shudder, ‘it’s Tonks.’ ‘Nymphadora Tonks, who prefers to be known by her surname only,’ finished Lupin.
(I'm with the fandom on this, that was Lupin's way of flirting)
Alright, so how did Tonks fall for him?
Lupin is a text-book overthinker. It might not be clear at first, but once you see how he chooses to phrase certain things to Harry, the way he hid the truth from Dumbledore - the man doesn't let loose.
He can't afford to, his safety is threatened everyday.
So when I say, I wonder how Tonks fell for him? Canon doesn't show us how it happened, it tells us it did happen while we were following our main protagonist. But if Lupin is so guarded, feels unworthy and overthinks everything he says making it difficult to truly know him - it's difficult to know how Tonks decided to let this man have her heart. And I say this because this young Auror is a damn intelligent person. She probably knew full well, this guy is going to break her heart.
Well, we need Lupin to open up, to show his good and bad sides to her. To show that the heartbreak will be worth it.
This is where my HC comes in, enemies to friends to lovers.
I'd like to think that these two didn't exactly get along at first, that they clashed quite a bit. Personally, I see Tonks as seeing straight through the tip-toeing and not buying it.
So she pushed his buttons to the point where he forgot himself a little. Now anger with Lupin is very interesting. I'll quote Ashes and my meta for this: While his dialogue surrounding marginalisation is either passive or dry around the Order (“an occupational hazard of being a werewolf”), he does allow himself to get angry about what he faces around Sirius:
“I know she is a nasty piece of work though - you should hear Remus talk about her,” said Sirius. (In reference to Umbridge drafting an anti werewolf legislation)
- Gentleman MonsterAnger for Lupin is a privilege, only people who have nothing to prove get to lash out. He doesn't want to feed in any werewolf stereotypes. So what bigger indication to her that he can be trusted, than when he starts trusting her with his more 'grey' areas. The ones he hides under his polite dialogue I think above all else, Tonks saw a man worthy of love despite how he felt. That he was kind even when he didn't need to be, and fiercely loyal even when it was problematic.
I hope that answers your ask anon!

My #1 post of 2022
Why is Remus your favourite?
Lupin is very well written and has a really interesting journey. He is also very complicated and in reality, a bit of a red flag. He deserves to be loved, but fights against it so much due to his condition and the grief he experienced in his short life. I'm weak for characters like this. I enjoy seeing the way he hides certain pieces of information to protect himself, how his anger sneaks past him when that information does make its way to Harry. Here is a little scene I love:
Lupin loses this control in PoA when Harry is fighting the Boggart/Dementor. Lupin is feeling a lot of emotions by the end of it, Harry has just become an earpiece to James' last moments. "You heard James?" said Lupin, in a strange voice. This is where it starts, the weight of hearing his best friend's last words, the proof that James is in fact no longer here. It must be incredibly difficult for Lupin, grief wants to overcome the cool exterior.
And now to top that off, Harry brings up Sirius, which isn't the first time he does but it is the first time he asks Lupin if he knew him. And not just asking, Harry dear is putting two and two together and says 'you must have'. "If you knew my dad, you must've known Sirius Black as well."
Lupin turned very quickly.
"What gives you that idea?" he said sharply.
This little change in his character, a slip up that will follow even more slip ups as Lupin's security gets under pressure, indicates how much Lupin plays a roll of the calm professor. I'm sure he would love nothing more than to only be this for Harry, but he can't quite help having a Jekyll and Hyde moment. Lupin is far from the softness we associate him with, he is of course kind and one of the most emphatic characters in the books. But, he is also very clever, mischievous and manipulative as a way to survive. I do believe in the deep centre of him there's anger, we see it in glimpses but when it happens it is explosive which is due to burying it so much. Only Sirius and Harry see it. Wrap that all up in a hard layer of grief and sadness, and we have one great chocolate truffle. Just a brilliant character.

Long rant ahead
I joined the Marauders fandom in 2020 (thanks to October Jily month and Dorcas) and had a lot of fun that year getting to learn more about the characters and the ships, but I honestly think I’m done.
I thought this would be a fandom where people could stan and ship whoever they wanted without being attacked for it, but all the fandom seems to care about nowadays is Regulus and WolfStar and if you like anything else, it’s “shame on you”. I feel like there used to be more variety of who people stanned from the early days of the Marauders fandom up to 2021.
I’m too afraid to even make edits of Jily, Remadora, Blackinnon, or Remus x Dorcas out of fear that Jegulus and WolfStar stans might attack me over shipping “bORinG stRaiGHt sHiPs”.
And the way a lot of them do that thing fans of gay ships do where they ship the female character that “gets in the way of their gay ship” with another female character in order to get her out of the way is not lost on me. Like yeah, you can ship MaryLily and Jegulus, but you don’t gotta be an asshole and hate on Jily’s relationship and Jily stans for simply SHIPPING THEM! Or make up lies about Lily to make it seem like she’s a bad person that is undeserving of James and his love!
Also I’ve seen so many people in the fandom be racist, anti-Semitic, and fatphobic, but then draw fanart of the character they are being shitty about for clout. Dorcas, black-Remus, plus sized-Lily, Desi-James, the list goes on. I mean, this fandom STAYS either using Dorcas as a prop for the white characters or completely forgetting she exists.
I remember when some people were rightfully getting called out for fancasting Dorcas as white in 2021 (aka years after her official character portrait showed she was black) and several Marauders editors I followed on IG at the time were like “Let people fancast who they want! Stop being such an activist! Worry about something more important! Go donate to BLM or a charity or something!”.
I was just sitting there like “…Now what the fuck does someone wanting you to fancast A BLACK CHARACTER AS BLACK have to do with being an activist?!” And don’t even get me started on how plenty of fans will ignore the fact that Dorcas is dark skinned and Peter is plus-sized cuz they’d rather fancast light skinned actors for Dorcas and skinny actors for Peter! “Oh, I just don’t see them that way” Well you better start, bitch!
Also y’all can ship what you want and create your own friendships headcanons, but please know that in canon, Dorcas and James would NOT date/be friends with mfs like Regulus and the rest of the Slytherin gang! I truly hate how the fandom turned them into misunderstood, precious, UWU babies that can do no wrong when Death Eaters are literally allegories for white supremacists! Like do y’all honestly think James would fall in love with someone that would call Lily a slur?! 🙄 And somebody please free my babygirl Dorcas from clutches of Regulus, Barty, and Evan stans! If she’s supposed to be dating Marlene, who is one of Lily’s best friends in canon, wtf makes you think Dorcas would be friends with the people who’d call her girlfriends best friend a slur?! 😭
Anyways, I’m done here. Last years Jily month was pretty boring anyway cuz everyone hates them all of a sudden and Dorcas is always gonna be forever unappreciated by the fandom, so yeah.

A Few of My Unpopular Harry Potter Opinions
Cho and Lavender shouldn't be seen as bad people because they didn't actually do anything wrong. They were both simply emotional and going through a lot- something that a lot of people can relate too
Tonks was an amazing character but the Remadora ship slightly ruined her
Fleur is often seen as an unimportant character and the things she did are often overlooked. However, she's canonically very caring (I mean she let a bunch of refugees that she just met stay at her house and catered to them) as well as courageous and doesn't deserve all of the hate that she gets
Draco is extremely overrated. He did some really terrible things compared to Fleur, Lavender, and Cho who often get more hate than he does (and before Draco stans start with "but he was a child" Lavender and Cho were the same age as him)
Not all of the Weasleys should have been in Gryffindor. While Ron, Ginny, and Charlie all seem to fit well into Gryffindor characteristics, I think that Percy and the twins should've been in Slytherin, and Bill in Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff
I also think that Hermione should've been a Ravenclaw or Slytherin (Hermione being a muggle born Slytherin and just destroying all stereotypical views of Slytherins would be amazing and she's definitely creative and intelligent enough to be in Ravenclaw)
Harry is very underrated, especially considering the fact that it's his book series and that side characters like Draco get more attention than he does
Dumbledore definitely wasn't an amazing, heroic guy but I also don't think that he's a completely terrible person either, he did the wrong thing for the right reason
Dudley didn't need or deserve a redemption arc but I still think it was better and more deserved than Snape's. I also think the fact that the only bigger, probably plus size character that Joanne gave us is viewed as a bully and somewhat of enemy for a majority of the books is a bit fatphobic (ntm to mention the kind of extreme diet he was forced into)
Gryffindor shouldn't have won house cup all of the years Harry attended there. Seeing that Gryffindor hadn't won it in years just makes it seem more unrealistic
The Hogwarts House system is extremely problematic seeing that people's personalities and traits can change over time and that a majority of the time you can pretty much just choose which house you want to be in anyways
Hermione is an amazing character but a bit overrated if you ask me. Everyone tends to overlook her flaws and act like she's all perfect when she really isn't, and then dislike other characters for traits that she canonically has as well (I mean she was just as emotional as Cho and Lavender at times and people shame them for it but ignore it when it comes to Hermione)
Ginny and Hermione seem like the types to be big feminist that empower and help other women so it just doesn't seem right for them to dislike Fleur, Cho, and Lavender so much (and to make fun of Luna a bit when they first meet)

Alright, I'm a little bit new, but listen... I'm a wolfstar stan and I don't see a real reason for this particular drama flare up. First of all, I don't like remadora and I doubt I ever will, but that's personal preference and I don't think the wolfstar fandom thinks there's anything wrong with the remadora fandom. With the reblogs on both sides, it looks like wolfstar fans think remadora fans are accusing wolfstar of being problematic, toxic, and/or abusive, inherently (I don't know the history behind you and op and I'm going to stay out of that as well but I'm talking about the fandom to fandom accusations). And remadora fans think wolfstar fans are accusing them of being homophobic because they don't ship wolfstar? That's not true, like I said, that's personal preference and I agree with what you said about nuance. The homophobic thing is in the context of accusing wolfstar of being problematic. To clarify, it's not that if you don't ship wolfstar you're homophobic, it's that if you think it's problematic while NOT thinking remadora is problematic (because, again, nuance) then that seems pretty homophobic. Anyway, I don't know. Maybe the fandoms just want a reason to be mad at each other and this isn't helping but I just wanted to clarify anyway.
You’re fine, and thank you for hopping into my inbox! Let me smooth the waters as bit -- us folks on the Remadora side are well aware that there are loads of issues with our ship, too (thx 4 nothing, JKR). We talk about it a lot within our community, and I think a healthy amount of critique is something everyone should be open to.
What’s not been OK (and what I sort of jumped down OP’s throat for, which I understand, to unassuming onlookers would have been very !!!!) has been a recent flouting of what I would call traditional rules of engagement in fandom -- if you dislike something, tag it anti-X, and don’t cross-tag where someone who DOES like the ship might see it.
Instead, as of late, the Remadora tag here and elsewhere has been FLOODED with accusations of homophobia (fully baseless, as you said) along with loads of general negativity from folks who do not know anything about us or why we enjoy the ship. People who are NOT a part of our community have felt entitled to entering our spaces and harassing us over what we like.
The point of irritation (that led to the post OP talked about) is that the relentless attacks on our ship have come ALONGSIDE claims that Wolfstar is 100% unproblematic, or a “better alternative”. This feels unfair -- whatever your personal preference, painting one ship as strictly Bad and one as strictly Good is preposterous on face. It also puts us on the defensive -- yet again -- and so of course the counter has been to say, well, if we’re so Bad, what about This Thing About Wolfstar? Or This? (The kicker here being that we STILL manage to tag our critiques appropriately, even if that respect has largely not been returned to us)
It’s not enough for people to not like or be indifferent towards our ship -- instead, some folks have become hell-bent on proving that Remadora is the Beacon of All Things Wrong with fandom. Which is, frankly, exhausting.
OP has been part of that deluge of negativity -- their contribution was a meme  that deliberately misstated the facts of a real case, and spurred further attacks and accusations of homophobia towards our fandom. There’s been other accusations, too, but the homophobia one has struck a personal chord because so many of us ARE, in fact, queer.
They’ve also engaged on a personal and extremely rude level with many of my mutuals (the ‘cyberbullies remadora stans’ in their bio is a nice touch), so when I saw the post on my dash I did get angry. I got angry, because I looked into the very serious accusations his post made, accusations that had made so many of us feel guilty over something (a supposed lawsuit from Hers Truly) that we couldn’t have possibly had any control over -- only to find out they were all bunk, and clearly written to spur more hatred between the two sides.
Also, before I end, I’d just like to clarify:
I was being snarky in comments to snipe at OP directly, but I have nothing personal against Wolfstar. (I actually have grown to like it quite a bit, despite other drama.) Nor do I think a ship needs to be canon for you to enjoy it -- that’s the whole fun of fandom, of filling in the gaps. Who cares what a renowned TERF has to say about it? Every iteration of these characters and pairings has a right to exist without backlash. You can enjoy Wolfstar and I can enjoy Remadora and we can all stick our🖕 at JKR, because I think both communities have been critical enough of her work and motivations to have reclaimed the ships -- problems and all -- on our own terms.
Anyways! Sorry for such a long post, and thanks for being so polite about it. I hope this clarifies some things from our POV.

Damn what if I suddenly decided to used tumblr: Anyway here are some thoughts: entrapta and annabeth from the lightning thief musical sound the same. Stan all the young dudes by mskingbean89 on ao3. I should be doing my history homework right now. Oops. The only remadora I will accept is either transmasc tonks remadora, or both of them were gay and tonks had wolfstsrs kid but after sirius died they got married for legal reasons. Anyways jkr is a disgusting terf. I am in love with zia rashid. Piper McLean deserved better. Rachel dare is a she/they lesbian. I don't know anything about spring awakening but apparently we hate steven satyr. Thank you for coming to my tedtalk (hi gene)

If The majority of Mauraders stans admitted that Canon and fanon Mauraders are different characters would you have liked the Mauraders Fandom? What is your opinion on the Fanon Mauraders by themselves, ( I personally think the fanon versions are unrealistic and boring)
Hmm… I’m not sure if I’d love the Marauders fandom. Though I know for sure I’d certainly dislike them A LOT less.
If they didn’t come up with fanon Marauders then I absolutely would’ve loved the Marauders (except James, nothing will ever change my mind about that filthy mongrel) and perhaps even their fandom. Fanon Sirius is what ruined canon Sirius for me, I used to love him but his stans were too much to handle. Remus… well I do love him, but I don’t interact with his fans unless they’re Remadora shippers, I usually just stick to anti side. Peter.. well he’s hated by 99.9% of the fandom anyway so yeah.🤷‍♀️
I think I’d be alright with the Marauders fandom if they just admitted that they actually are a bunch of apologists who are unable to acknowledge their faves’ flaws, and if they stop harassing Snape fans and sending us death threats.
What’s my opinion on the fanon Marauders? Aight, let’s see then:
Fanon James Potter
Apparently he’s a feminist icon, is a sex god, is Aaron Taylor Johnson, saved Lily from creepy Snivellus, protects the school from evil racists, cannot do anything wrong, was doing social service by bullying ugly greasy Snivellus.
Bo-ro-ro-ro-ring. *yawns* Next.
Fanon Sirius Black:
So this dude is an LGBTQ icon, is so0o0o0o0o hot (well he actually is), is a god amongst women, wears leather jackets all the time, is super gay for Remus Lupin, is a poor lil abused uwu angel who cries every time something happens with Remus.
Just- ew. No personality whatsoever besides being gay for Moony and being hot. Next.
Fanon Remus Lupin:
So… this—er—thing is a discount Hermione Granger, walks around with Cadbury’s chocolate factory in his back pocket, is the werewolf version of Willy Wonka, is the only reason James and Sirius pass, is super gay for Sirius Black, is a super shy, nerdy uwu werewolf who wouldn’t hurt a fly.🥺🥺😍
Oh Loony Loopy Lupin…
Kill it.
I’m not even kidding. I despise fanon Remus Lupin from the deepest, darkest fathoms of my soul. I will never forgive his stans for turning him into this… I don’t even know.
Fanon Peter Pettigrew:
So, this is a bit different, there are two different fanon versions of Peter:
1st Peter Pettigrew:
So this dude is an attractive slim guy. That is all. That is his only purpose.
Just… no. It’s genuinely disgusting how shallow Marauder stans are. I feel bad for Dan Dehaan and canon Peter.
2nd Peter Pettigrew:
So he’s a complete and utter dumbass, he plays with sticks like a dog, chews on his own foot, is fat-shamed repeatedly by James and Sirius (and the entire Marauders fandom) and it’s totally acceptable because… reasons, and is completely non-existent most of the time.
No. Just no. That is all I have to say.
So yeah, I hate them all.
