Kody stared at the sheet of paper in front of him, his nose scrunched and his eyes narrowed. The language was foreign to him; while he recognized it as words that he couldn’t understand, a language that his school never even began to offer, it looked like a doctor’s scrawl to him.

Well, maybe that’s because it technically was. Though, she wasn’t really a doctor, per se. She was a healer, a witch, whatever else she called herself.

Close enough to a doctor, though.

“Camille never really had the best handwriting, sorry, kiddo.” Sera said, peering over their shoulders and down at the table in the brief moment that she moved past them. "It's probably hard to figure out what she was trying to say."

“Do you even know what this means?” Kody said, turning to frown at the back of Sera's head as she stood by the window. “There’s no way you can.”

“We’ve known each other for years.” Sera said, loosely shrugging her shoulders. She didn’t turn to face Kody, instead opting to watch the snow drift steadily down. “It’s getting colder out..."

“You don’t know what it says, do you.”

“I can read it.”

“There’s no way in hell—”

“I still have notes from her. From when we were younger.”

“And could you read those.”

“Took awhile to get used to it, but. Yeah.”

Kody looked back down at the sheet of paper. Terranian chicken-scratch, he was sure his dad would call it. At least, he would whisper it to Kody, hoping to earn even the even the tiniest of chuckles or the slightest hint of a smile. “Does everyone in her line of work have handwriting this bad? All doctors have it this bad, I swear. She sort of counts as that.”

“You’re still learning, of course it’s going to be harder for you to read. It’s not your first language like it is for us.”

“Then help me out.”

Sera smiled to herself, rolling her eyes as she placed her mug on the coffee table beside Kody and took a seat on the floor. “Alright, come on. Show me what you’re having problems with specifically.”

“This. All of it.” Kody moved the sheet of paper closer to her, leaning and following it, his eyes stuck on the messy words.

Sera stayed still for a moment, her neutral expression twitching upright in a subtle, but undeniably irked, smile as her eyes glossed over the paper. “Oh, so. All of it.”

“Yeah. Bet you’re having a hard time, too.” Kody said, looking away as he leaned back into place with a little huff. “It’s pretty bad.”

“It’s a lot rougher than what it was a few years ago, yeah. No doubt about that.” Sera slid the paper off of the table and gingerly pinched it at the bottom between her thumb and pointer finger; she squinted at it, trying to discern the words in front of her. “I guess my handwriting hasn’t gotten any better since I stopped talking to her. But geez. I didn’t think hers would get worse, too. This is just one of her shopping lists, no notes for us.”

“Shouldn’t Lumine have this? If he’s supposed to help her look for ingredients today.”

“I mean, she probably wouldn’t send him out shopping alone. He’ll get lost.”

“Probably?” Kody raised an eyebrow, looking at her. “That’s not really reassuring.”

“So, wanna grab your coat and go out? Look around for them, just to make sure they didn’t get separated?”

“Yeah.” And to make sure she didn't ask him to go out alone.

“Alright, come on. Camille’ll probably need this list, anyway. So disorganized...”

I love the idea of Hiccup being plagued with guilt whenever he's not able to bond with a dragon or has to fight one (despite it often being self defense he has no choice in). Like, the whole thing with the skrill probably weighed on him for years until they caught it again and he chose to release it.

i think the fell xenologue does a great job at characterizing some of the royals beyond the vanilla game mostly because every single royal has like one or two core principles that really make them who they are and so getting rid of those one or two things completely converts them into a completely different person. like alcryst losing his self doubt, celine loses her empathy, hortensia loses her resilience, etc etc. but i think my favorite version of this has to be fogado, who has in my opinion the most drastic change. i think all of the other royals have very outward presenting traits that you can easily catch onto and see theyve lost. but fogado is just a little different, because what fell fogado lacks isnt really a trait; he loses his sense of love. (rest under the cut bc it turned into an essay. my bad also fell xenologue spoilers obvs)

“our” fogado (?? idk how to differentiate between them. work with me here) is not an easy person to read in universe. he makes it very clear in chapter 13 that he’s pretty good at deception and is very willing to make use of that skill. his supports with timerra and pandreo also tell us he’s gotten used to keeping up a specially crafted persona meant to kind of suppress his feelings (that timerra and pandreo can see through but. like 1. theyre smart 2. sister and bff ok moving on). but he doesn’t do it out of malice or because he just likes being tricky, he lies because he loves. everything in fogado’s life is shaped by what he loves: his country, his friends, and his sister. every single motivation he has is fueled by this: the constant partying, how often he leaves the castle, all his acting. its even in his goddamn class name (cupido) and birthday (feb 14) if you needed the game to spell it out for you

so thats why when we get to the fell xenologue, the fogado we meet is changed in that one specific way: his love is gone. we know this because of a few things, the first of which is that he is honest. aside from the robe (in which he is assassinating someone! but also. lets be so honest with ourselves here. you can see his fucking face) he’s immediately upfront with his intentions: he wants the bracelets, he wants power, and he wants you to die. and thats it. he just kind of hands you that information, and then fucks off when you win. on what earth would our fogado do that? dude wouldnt even tell you if he broke his leg, he just partied a little hard last night. but thats just it isnt it? our fogado lies because he loves people, hes protecting them. fell!fogado is transparent because he’s not protecting anyone, he doesn’t care.

but the biggest kicker in fell!fogado’s lack of love is in his interaction with our timerra. our fogado loves his sister more than anything, as he literally plans his entire life around making HER life easier. he sacrifices even just spending time with her just because he needs to make sure hes fully prepared to keep her safe (not that timerra wants that for him but he doesnt really get that. which is another topic i could dive into but this post is long enough lets not make it a novel). fell!fogado though? well you see–

any love fogado holds for his sister, or any love at all really, is just not present in fell!fogado. and you could say that maybe its just because of the corruption, but then why do we still see love between the fierenese and brodian siblings? even fell!timerra still loves her brother if her conversation with our fogado is anything to go off of. but the writers know that fogado lives and dies on his love for people, its his entire being and so much more so than the rest of the cast. which is why thats what had to change in him for the fell xenologue. it wasnt really just a flip of the switch haha murder thing (though. it could have been handled better. lets be real) but it was the loss of everything that makes fogado him. and i think the fact that this gets to be highlighted in the dlc just makes base game fogado all that much more interesting, because it cements his motivation now that we know what he's like without it. fogado is a guy driven by love and its just fucking great

I wanna start drawing star wars fanart this summer, i even have an age old star wars fanart blog that i have only posted something like,,, twice to, bc i have this deep unsettled feeling about making sw content bc in college i had a brief moment there where I went from being a huge star wars fan since i first saw the movies as like a baby to being completely apathetic to the whole franchise (bc some douchebag decided to "quiz" me on how good of star wars fan (aka how well i knew trivia from the extended universe/books, of which i'd only read a few) and then publicly mocked me for being a fake fan so I stopped liking star wars after that and have only in recent years slowly started enjoying the franchise again... and On Top of that I have yet to see the last of the sequel trilogy (rise of skywalker) bc it looked so damn bad, plus i hate reylo with a burning passion lmao, but i do feel like not having seen it (and in fact, not having seen Every Star Wars Thing or Read Every Star Wars Thing) means yes, maybe i AM a fake fan and Shouldn't make star wars fanart/content,,,

I... don't think I've ever participated in a ship week before? Or even made serious ship art? But I'm very fond of JE and I really wanted to. Other things I am fond of: TMA vampires! So I made Jon one. If you're wondering how that works... I'd say don't worry about it but I actually have several ideas.

Jon was always a vampire, he's just a weird, more sentient mutant. Elias wants to study him.

All TMA vampires are sentient, they're just also too hungry to care about things like morals or leading a regular life outside of feeding. Jon is different, Elias wants to study him.

Jon is currently in the process of being turned (just because it hasn't been observed in-universe doesn't mean it couldn't have happened). Elias wants to study him (but if he's not careful his fun new science project WILL eat him).

Also kept in a sketch of vampire Jon that I was proud of. I don't usually work with that angle (or with any kind of poses, which is. hmmmm.) so I'm really happy with what I managed there actually.

Too tired/busy (college move-in day is tomorrow and my cat had to get vaccines in today) so I didn't go for much of a background beyond "vaguely implied wood floors."

Also yes it is very important that Elias hold Jon's weird freaky vampire tongue like that. For science. And no other reasons.

Here are their refs! Elias has one hand on Jon's back/shoulder and the other behind his back because I didn't want to draw hands. They're anthro because I don't want to draw humans (furry). Jon is a tortoiseshell cat, Elias is a common genet (because when I thought of Elias designs my mind immediately went to my tiny toy Civet for reasons that are beyond my understanding). Also gave Jon a file folder because I thought he should have one.

but she also steps up. “learns her place”. ignores what she feels because she believes she has to become something. although not thoroughly explored in the movie, i gotta imagine how absolutely lonely she must feel.

see where im going with this? i think that would really resonate with him and so her character would grow on him. he’s jealous that she can express her “worst” emotions. he’s annoyed with her pettiness because it’s unreasonable to him. these are the same things he could never allow himself to do or think or feel because he has to be something.

so seeing her change hits. because he did that too. don’t get me wrong im not saying they’re the same character or anything lol but in her he sees the heart of the child he once was and the desperate, lonely person he became.

oh also dedede likes beth because he cries every time a parent or child dies in a movie
