Things the fucking slap about the non Intrepid Heroes Dimension 20 seasons in order of release:
Escape from the Bloodkeep
Absolutely stellar party with Amy Vorpahl, Erika Ishii, Ify Nwadiwe, Matthew Mercer, Mike Trapp and Rekha Shankar
Includes the one familiar the Brennan refuses to harm, and it’s the most horrible creature you’ve ever met.
Speaking of J’er’em’ih, I don’t think Trapp gets as much appreciation for Sokhbarr as I think he deserves because when Trapp commits he fucking COMMITS. And that one very specific investigation check? Ooh baby it was so good
Speaking of boss ass moves, Rekha’s balloon ass fuckery was such a good move. And Ify being like “can we be bros with the eagles?” ending up being one of the best moves to do? Absolutely fantastic
Honestly one of the funniest seasons of D20 tbh imo. Like I do not like LOTR, so I didn’t think I’d like this season. But it’s such a hilarious season, no wonder it’s one of the side quests I feel like folks recommend the most
Tiny Heist
The McElroy fam? Even if you don’t listen to TAZ (like me) you know they’re a good time
The Rick Diggins speech is just so fucking bananas it’s so good. Rick Diggins is also just the most batshit character
Personally, I love heist stuff. It’s so fun! And I really found the heist itself to be so fun! (Griffin’s part it in is my favorite, Bean is adorable and I love him)
Also there’s always something so fun about the mechanics of tiny universes within our universe? The way they explain toys and stuff coming to life is really interesting and fun imo
Lily Du’s first time at the table and Jess Ross at the table! Speaking of I love how Jess completed her arch, she knew what was going down with her character and made a complete story. It was great!
Pirates of Leviathan
Personally I love this season, and our first time having Aabria at the table ahhhhhh (also my first encounter of “please have the camera focus on Aabria, she makes the absolute best expressions”) Plus, it’s back in the Fantasy High Universe which is always fun to explore more about the universes (and get some NPC cameos/appearances!)
Also tbh I love all of the PCs in this series? Like they’re all so interesting and unique, and are such full characters.
Literally the absolute best PC introduction that exists in d20, Bob I love you so goddamn much
There’s a goddamn Queer Eye joke in this season and at first it’s played for laughs but honestly becomes like… the softest thing? And it warms your soul? And it also features Matt Mercer as a tall ass rat man (this season also has a rare pair I ship and I think no one else does lol but I love it so)
Pirate T-Rex. Just feel like that alone needs its own bullet point lol
Mice and Murder
The mystery!!! Is so fun!!! It’s cool at the end of the season to see how everything was connected, and it’s fun to go on the journey with the party
Katie Marovitch rolling the first nat 20 of the season and not understanding the implications of a natural 20 for a good couple of minutes will always be funny
This season is pretty much all classic College Humor cast mates, so if you’ve been watching College Humor stuff for over a decade like me you’re sure to find some joy in it
Sam Reich has some of the most killer one liners in this season and he’s just such a fun character. Honestly, this season is just so goofy and everyone is just trying to make each other laugh. It’s delightful
The texting element!!! Is so dang interesting!!! And it works so well for the mystery
Misfits and Magic
The first season with a new GM!!!! Aabria!!! When that trailer came out we were all SHOOK, truly began a new era of d20 and we love it
And first time PC Brennan??? Listen he’s such a fun PC we love the strange lil guys he plays
Sam Black deserves so much more love, she’s such a fun PC. Like Danielle would just say one liners that would knock me the fuck out, she’s so dang funny
Listen one of the funniest moments to me will always be Lou and Brennan as their actual selves being like “Mukbang? That’s not a real thing right? No… no it’s not”
The fact that one of the animal companions is straight up just a basketball is hilarious and ridiculous
The Seven
If you love the Fantasy High universe and want to know more about some of the side NPCS, ooh baby they’re PCs now and they’re all played by hilarious cool folks (including our first time having Izzy Roland, Persephone Valentine and Becca Scott in the dome!)
This season absolutely feels like a sleepover with friends. Everyone is giggly and having so much fun, and it’s so fun to watch (and also emotional when you least expect it lol)
I’m having a hard time describing funny moments because it’s just one of those things where you have to experience it to get it? Like this season had me cry laughing but I will never be able to describe the sexy duck outfit as hilariously as Becca does it’s just so good
Oooh before we got killer costume descriptions from ACOFAF you better believe we got it during this season. And if you’re a big costume nerd like me you’ll just be like heart eyes mother fucker
On an interesting note, Brennan is kind of playing both an NPC and PC? Technically he’s still just playing an NPC but Zelda is like… part of the party (obviously part of The Seven). And it’s a fun change!
Shriek Week
Gabe Hicks is a delight as the GM! I am constantly thinking about the line “You may be yolked but this man is a straight up omelette” because it slaps and tbh I would love to see him in the dome again
I think this is canonically the only season where characters FUCK
Another season with a very fun cast, like all of the cast has big horny energy and it’s so silly! If you’ve watched this season you understand Lily’s energy in Dirty Laundry a lot more lollll
Also this season canonically has Mothman and The Count from Sesame Street as characters and it makes me giggle every time
Tbh I really wish this season had more time but if you’re looking for a super short series, it’s only four episodes long!
Coffin Run
Jasmine Bhullar is SO fun as the GM and I feel like really plays off the PC energy well? She was so much fun
This season is another one that is just goofy fun! And you know I love me some goofy fun (the whole eating letters thing is so stupid and so fun)
Personally think the sets for this series are SO cool like oh my god?? The trainnnnnnn ahhh
This is kind of a bigger spoiler but I will never be over the wine glass props for that one combat? When she pulls them out I DIE
This cast REALLY goes in on their characters and plays them so big, it’s delightful
A Court of Fey & Flowers
Do I really need to get into why this season fucking slaps? I’m pretty sure it’s one of the most popular side campaigns because it fucking SLAPS
Aabria is back as GM, bringing poetry and grace to the dome and ahhhh (like she literally recites poetry but also the episode introductions are just straight up poetic
This is the season of romance and brought me to the horrible realization that I like DND actual plays because mostly I like the role playing apparently lolllll
Outfits outfits outfits outfits ahhhhh we love some fantastic outfitsssss
The whole Green Hunter bit is so fucking funny
Anyways moral of the story is D20 side campaigns are fun and you should watch/listen to them

please please please talk more about the beta troll’s friendship 🙏
Tumblr media
You have summoned me in my favorite subject: 🎉🎉🎉🎉 FRIENDSHIP!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Take a sit because this is going to be long, so long i may end up dividing into different posts!
Okey so sadly we don't have a lot of info of the full group dynamic besides some clues and what we know is them literally at their worst thinking they we're going to die in a meteor, after a full one month campaign in the game they had won yet was taken from them being chased by an undefeatable enemy that destroyed their planets and probably their lusus too. And at the end three of them going on a rampage and killing the rest of the team
So not the most reliable info of how their normal dynamic as a friendgroup would be, but tbh it could never be "healthy friendgroup" in a human sense because, well, they live in Alternia.
But even in hell, the flower of friendship can blossom, so lets talk about the fucked up friendship between these kids:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We know little about how their friendship started, contrary with the Beta Kids that we know because of June's birthday presente for Jade arriving in the past to young Jade with her pesterchum and her probably looking at the clouds in Prospit and seeing there the pesterchum of Rose and Dave following suit
Because the Beta Trolls are a much bigger group and we dont really know if they actually celebrate their wriggling days, as none of the trolls mentioned it but it could also be in part because of Karkat's disdain for the celebration or them maybe not knowing because he is a very private kid after all
Tumblr media
Maybe Kanaya was the first troll that befriended all of them, like Jade was and both of them being the assigned Space player of their group and the first ones to wake in Prospit, but i also doubt that considered she didnt went through the birthday gift shenanigan that young Jade went through
So what most likely happened: The trolls who we're closest to eachother (Equius and Vriska, Eridan and Feferi, Aradia and Tavros, Terezi and Vriska* (not totally sure about that one) and maybe Sollux and Aradia/Feferi) befriended eachother first and meet the rest (Karkat, Nepeta, Gamzee, Kanaya) online and just shared their info between eachother.
I honestly wonder who thought of the idea of all sharing their Trollian between eachother, maybe Feferi? maybe it just happened overtime? but what matters right now is the
F R I E N D S H I P
So today we will talk about the underrated friendships between the group
Starting with Aradia and Tavros! Both members of Team Charge, i see very few people talk about them as friends even though they were obviously very close considering they we're part of a Flarp campaign together.
Tumblr media
Both seem to match pretty well personality wise, both adventurous and wanting to have fun in the game, Aradia knows that Tavros picked a hard class for himself yet she still encourages him and tries to cheer him on and advice him in the case of Vriska trying to get under his skin.
Tumblr media
When Vriska starts to surrond him, she tries to communicate with her first, but sadly she and terezi where distracted by Doc Scratch, so he gets paralized
Tumblr media
Side note: After Aradia and Terezi, his third option for asking for help is Karkat, which is...interesting, they dont talk a lot but when they do its Tavros trying to get advice/help from him (2 out of 3 convos), so either Karkat and Tavros have more convos besides the ones showed (very likely) or Karkat just having a reputation of helping with issues that he is the first one who comes to Tavros's mind
Tumblr media Tumblr media
also Karkat calling him bro is so fucking funny cdbhd, idk if its sarcasm or if its genuine like with Eridan but he seems worried for a little before going on a rant about how stupid this is, only to come back trying to advice him to do this in private (also he winks at him as GTavrossprite but thats smt for the Tavkat shippers)
Tumblr media
Anyway, back to Aradia, after her death we dont know about their relationship that much, we know that the whole reason that this whole revenge cycle was because Aradia wanted to avenge Tavros
But after her death, we don't know if they talk or if Tavros even knows she is dead, as it was mostly secret that only Sollux, Vriska, Terezi and Equius seem to know,
What we know is that Aradia keeps Tavros close to her heart, as the only reason she didnt straight up kill Vriska is
Tumblr media
Because he was there to see it
And thats all the info we have of their relationship while Aradia was a robot, is more than likely Tavros confronted Vriska (besides creating Bec Noir) because Aradiabot had just exploded and he was blaming her for that too (especulation)
Their post-death/revival shows them having the same relationship pre-aradia's death, after they find eachother in the afterlife
Tumblr media
Theyre big pals :)
Staying with Tavros, another friendship people dont seem to talk a lot about is Kanaya and Tavros, which tbh, we dont have a conversation on screen between them, but we know they talk and Kanaya tries to mediate to help him when Vriska is bullying him
Tumblr media
And also, even after she cut Vriska out because of the whole ''Having a crush on her but finding out she has a crush on Tavros'' (probably because she was sulking) she seems to have a fine relationship with Tavros, as she made a Tinkerbull plushie for him
Tumblr media
To other friendships, Kanaya and Feferi! Another group of trolls with very few coversations, but we can easily tell in those that they cared for eachother
Tumblr media
They have a lot in common, being of the few trolls who woked up in their moons before the game, having a huge responsability as their lusus can either kill or revive their entire civilization, being in a unhappy moiralliagance (with their cases kinda mirroring eachother, with Feferi not wanting to be in any quadrants while Eridan wants to change them, while Kanaya wants to change quadrants while Vriska seems to be fine with where they are) and knowing their lusus were going to die when they were 13
Tumblr media
Feferi and Kanaya seem to have very a similar relationship as Karkat and Eridan, where they advise eachother about their moirals + possible romantic relationships. And their very contrasting personalities helps them balance eachother out
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Feferi is even comfortable enough to invite Kanaya to the horn pile and knowing Kanaya's expressions enough to guess that she is nervous about coming off as meddling with them
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After Feferi gets killed off, Kanaya is already ready to attack, only waiting to see what Eridan is planning to do, attack her first or trying to escape
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If it weren't for Kanaya distracting herself with the matriorb, and Eridan inmediately picking on this opportunity
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To piss her off enough to set her off and attack him first
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So she is an easier target that he can kill her off without a fight
Speaking about this two, next time we will to talk about the complicated (annoying) friendship between these two, why next time? because this post is already getting to fucking long!
Come here for Part 2 -> Here! (when its done this will get updated with a link lol)

Steve doesn’t hate DnD, he just doesn’t get it.
His brain doesn’t work the way it needs to in order for him to get all the numbers, and classes, and magic, and statistics, and oh god it makes his eyes hurt just thinking about it sometimes. Steve thinks he’d like to just sit and watch, it’s a fun atmosphere, but there’s a strict No Spectators rule for all the Party’s campaigns.
He tries, really he does. Steve knows how much it means to Eddie, and they’re still in the early relationship phase of trying to impress each other. He just wants Eddie to feel like they have something in common other than being mauled by monsters. He wants Eddie to want him around. Whenever it comes to Steve’s turn though, he feels like he’s still two steps behind everyone else.
Of course Eddie noticed. He watches Steve far too closely not to catch the little twitch in his eyebrows every time he doesn’t understand something, and tries to buy time by asking Dustin or Erica’s advice.
“I was thinking,” said Eddie one night as they cleaned up after everyone else had left their latest session. “About your character,”
“What about her?” asked Steve.
“I think you should let me kill her,” said Eddie simply, trying to sound casual.
Steve was stunned. He froze, halfway through folding a map. His stomach dropped.
“You don’t want me to play anymore?” He was crushed and it was apparent in his voice.
Eddie continued to tidy, pretending his heart hadn’t cracked in half at the sound of Steve’s voice.
“Not by yourself anyway,” said Eddie, leaning down on the table and side eyeing Steve to see if his plan was working. “I have too many notes for this campaign, I can’t keep up anymore-”
He could.
“-and it’s started to get me confused during some of the battles-“
It wasn’t.
“-so I was thinking maybe I need a little extra help,”
He didn’t.
But Steve didn’t know that.
“And killing me off helps that?” asked Steve. He had started to subconsciously wring his hands so Eddie held his arm up to gesture Steve into a sideways half-hug.
“Well, yeah,” said Eddie. Steve was under his arm now and his sad little face was killing him but he nearly had his point made. “Because you can’t help me with campaign notes or keep me on the right page during a game if you’re playing,”
Steve’s eyebrows furrowed wile he figured out what Eddie was saying.
“You don’t need someone for that,” said Steve, still confused. “You tell people all the time I’m The Best DM Ever I Could Run Six Campaigns At Once All Alone I Don’t-“
“Steve.” said Eddie flatly, putting his hand over Steve’s mouth. “I’m asking for help, and I’m asking you because I know you won’t make fun of me for it,”
He took his hand away and raised his eyebrows. Steve nodded.
“So, like, I’d, what? Help you write things in your notebook?” he asked. “Plans and stuff?”
“Yep!” said Eddie, squeezing Steve’s shoulders. “And sit with me during games to make sure I’m not missing anything. You’re better at the details than I am, Stevie, I get all caught up in the dramatics,”
Eddie waved his free arm in a wide flourish to illustrate his point.
“We’ll be the perfect team,” he finished.
Steve’s stomach lifted into something far lighter. He liked the sound of being teamed up with Eddie for games. Getting to watch, be a part of it all, without having to actually play? This sounded like way more fun.
“I… Yeah, that sounds like a plan, I can do that,” said Steve with a smile.
“Gotta warn you though!” said Eddie, waving a finger in his face. “It’s intense, you’re gonna be spending a lot more time with me, I write a lot of notes,”
Steve laughed and rolled his eyes.
“Oh how ever will I ever cope?”
It was years later that Steve connected the dots on what Eddie had done for him. They were at a wedding reception and Eddie was talking with Dustin, recalling details of that first campaign with crystal clear accuracy. For the briefest moment he felt silly, slightly ashamed that he’d been so obviously terrible and uncomfortable that Eddie needed to step in. But then he remembered all the late nights they’d spent huddled up close to plan a session, or the phonecalls laughing about how to trick the Party into a trap, or the times they hide behind a book during a game to stage-whisper about a player’s choices, and it all melted away. That time spent together just having fun was what gave their relationship such a rock solid foundation.
He only ever managed to grasp the barest bones of the game even with Eddie’s help, but he wouldn’t have changed any of it for the world. Not when they made such a perfect team, anyway.

Part of me kinda wants to stop DMing my first and current campaign? IDK just need to vent
So, brief expo. like many, got into CR during the pandemic (mainly due to "The Legend of Vox Machina" which lead to me actually bingeing the all 3 campaigns) During which time a friend (who was in my immediate friend group but like the rest of my friend group, i didnt really feel close to) told me that he was really into CR as well. As a fresh new critter, i was stoked. Was able to share my blossoming love of CR with someone (FINALLY!) during which we both mentioned how D&D looked so much fun and that it would be really great to be able to play and ooo what if we got our friends together and played.
After which we discussed, if we did, who would be DM? Seeing as how none of our friends really played D&D our talk lead to either my friend or me and after asking the question "Which do you think you would prefer more?" It was clear i would try my hand at DMing (i like lore in games, and i like storytelling, and im a tad bit of a control freak at times, lol)
Anyway, we eventually got in touch with our close knit of friends, and though i intended to be a standard 6 we suddenly had an 8 party party (and that was with me having to tell even less close friends there wasnt room).
Feeling it would still be manageable (as there was precedent that i could pull inspo from, CR) i began planning a rough idea of a campaign and working with my friends to create their characters and running a session 0 so we were all on the same page. You know standard stuff.
-Fast Forward to current date and time-
It has its stressful moments, but i still am able to enjoy the time with my friends for the most part (though theres a lot of times were ive never felt lonelier) Which brings me to the whole point of the post, my need to vent to the void about this loneliness. Nobody really gets in touch or interacts with me at all. Not to talk about the campaign or even collab on their characters. The most i get are occasional critiques about how i could have done something better couple sessions prior and request to add another person to the 8 person party. When we have sessions, people show up late quite often, leave early quite often, have to cancel as they have other things they are doing (even though we planned and scheduled weeks prior) and even when people are there they somtimes feel like they arent always present. i already feel extremely distant from all of them as they all live closer to each other while i live on the totally opposite side of the state and theyve known each other way longer than i have, but the minimal interactions they have with me, the DM/GM of all people, just continues to add to all of it I know we all are busy with our lives, and that compared to those things D&D is really not that big of a deal or important. And i get that, it is just a game afterall, but it still manages to hit pretty hard
I've communicated my feelings through our time of this campaign, if im being honest, maybe not this indepth. I mean, its partially because i barely see or talk to them (again life gets in the way) but also because i feel extremely guilty for putting this kind of tension to something we are all supposed to be enjoying and relaxing to. Its especially painful as most recently 2 players, who said they would get in touch with me about changes possibly being being made to their characters, never got in touch in anyway shape or form, and its been about a month now? And session is in a week...i didnt even get much as a reply back. Idk, its been almost about a year now and i felt i just needed to get this out somewhere other than debating myself.
Thanks for listening tumblr.

Ok so after going through the tag I feel like I'm really not seeing enough people talking about how narrowly Orym avoided an Absolute Perma Death this last episode‽‽‽‽ Laudna making that perception check (which Matt was very reluctant in allowing to begin with!) single handedly decided Orym's fate.
Let's break it down real quick: 1) Matt said they were 300-400 feet up which is above the cap for max fall damage but below the height where you take more than a single round to hit the ground. Orym would've fallen to the surface of the planet and taken a fuck ton of fall damage well before Imogen could cast fly and catch up to him. (The fly spell makes the target hover so by rules as written, she technically wouldn't have been able to catch up anyways since she wouldn't've been able to free fall and would've had to descend at her 60 ft. fly speed.)
2) in the keyfish incident, Keyleth's body did not remain in one piece and I doubt Orym's would either. This combined with the time it would take to get the body back to F.C.G. would put them well outside the time like l limit of revivify.
3) And finally, all of that is predicated on the condition that they can even find his body at all!! That air ship was high in the sky, moving notably fast, with strong winds perfectly capable of blowing a halfling around mid air. Predicting where Orym would land would be way more difficult than just retracing steps. I can't remember if they were still above jungle or not but if they were they'd be pretty much fucked unless F.C.G. had locate object prepared (dead bodies are objects RAW but they also could just target something he'd had on him and hope it didn't go flying in the fall.) It could take days to find Orym and I don't think the captain would be willing to risk it since as they said falling overboard is usually a one and done deal.
Like that wasn't just the usual "Oh Orym is putting himself at risk in battle again and might die" because in those cases F.C.G. is right there, diamond at the ready if healing isn't enough.
This was Certain Death.
This was Liam makes a new character because the Hell's Bells do not have the connections to bring him back yet. No church connection, the only person they even know of capable of bringing him back is Keyleth and while there might be some Watsonian reasoning that the characters would think to go to her I just can't see the players wanting that. Asking Keyleth to fix all their problems just doesn't make for a fun campaign.
Orym keeps dancing with death but this was something so infitesimaly close to the end of his life that I'm convinced if Laudna had failed that roll Liam would've narrated how during the fall Orym sees a Raven and just watches it peacefully has he grips his tattoo. His last words before he hit the ground would be "I'm sorry" and then something about his husband being on the other side and getting to see him again, maybe even a "didn't make you wait as long as I thought I would I guess".
P.S. How poetic that it was Laudna who once again when faced with Certain Death –instead of kneeling to Fate– took that shit in hand and said fuck no.

i saw a post talking about neverafter slander on twitter so i went to check it out
here are some thoughts: (keep in mind, i’m not calling anyone out or saying your opinion isn’t valid if you agree with one of these points. try to read this as a light hearted discussion, like talking about a book with a friend)
a lot of it is people saying the season wasn’t horror enough and while i agree it’s not exactly as straightforward horror as the marketing suggested i think that that’s a take that is fundamentally misunderstanding what this is. it’s the horror season of dimension 20 which is a d&d show first and foremost. it’s not going to be following the beats of a horror movie because that’s not what they’re doing. when you run a horror campaign you fold in horror elements which they have been excellent at doing especially in the eldritch and existential categories
not to make assumptions but it seems to me that a lot of people making a big fuss about this haven’t played d&d for themselves. the things i have seen suggested the most for making the season more in line with the horror people were expecting involves turning the campaign into a more dm vs players situation (which is joked about a lot in fandom but in more of a meta humor way than is being suggested). this is something that anyone who has ever played in a bad campaign knows makes it a hell of a lot less fun to play and, i’m assuming, not so fun to watch either. the point of playing d&d is to work together to tell a story, if you go into to making a campaign with the goal of making your players lose, everyone is going to be miserable and your story is going to suck.
following that, some people are ragging on brennan for forgetting details and not having the lore entirely fleshed out. as someone who does unnecessary worldbuilding for homebrew campaigns every single time, i would just like to say on behalf of dms everywhere: it’s hard! there’s so much stuff to keep track of and so little time to keep the lore straight if you want the session to keep moving smoothly, i’m sure it’s even harder when you have a limited time to film the episodes/season
and maybe it’s just me, but i love horror movies (and other media) and neverafter is about as scary as most horror movies i’ve seen. it’s definitely better written than a lot of horror movies, we get to know the characters and are fully invested in them when bad things happen. it’s sort of on the level as the hellraiser reboot imo. some people make the point that besides the body horror, there’s not enough gore/blood kinda stuff, but i think gore isn’t truly horror, especially in a spoken format. it’s more of a shock factor thing, like a verbal jumpscare
and i’ve seen people saying that the pcs are too much like heroes/they’re too capable to be in any real danger, but in a horror movie, most of the bad things happen around the protagonist(s), they’re still thrown into the shit but most of the time they make it out. horror as a genre is so ill-defined anyway that people still debate if slashers and thrillers even count. plus, how many times in a movie has a side character been forgotten or something about the lore has been off? and that’s with multiple people overseeing the production.
jumping away from the “it’s not like the horror movie i envisioned” complaints, i’ve also seen a lot of people say it’s confusing??? and tbh i’m more confused about that than the campaign. to me it’s pretty straightforward, no more confusing than starstruck at the very least.
for the big picture: it’s different factions of people with conflicting (but occasionally overlapping) goals than all need to get to macguffin in order to reach whichever goal they’re aligned with
the pcs have their own character arcs which are very clearly laid out throughout the season
the minute details are there because that’s how you make your world feel lived in
and yeah, there’s a lot of potential in the stuff they could’ve done but didn’t. but i feel like that’s the whole point, y’know? this is the story they did tell, and the thousands of other ways they could’ve told the story live on like every retelling of a fairytale.

HELLO I'M HERE TO RAMBLE ABOUT MC'S MORTALITY. I have literally been grinding event battles and coins and such all day because the power up campaign ends today (I'm under 200 in rank NB wise but geez it's getting harder to keep up)
anyway I always think about what happens to mc after/if they did die. like I love sam's/still-a-moronsexual's interpretation of mc not being entirely human for one
but there's different levels/circles of hell in the Devildom, and that the devildom and the celestial realm are separate from the traditional heaven/hell if I remember correctly? like what happens to mc in the event they do pass on. Everyone says they have a shiny soul. And would mc keep their memories after passing?
Like everyone has different beliefs and I'm just rambling, but there's reincarnation for one. Sometimes I think about Michael and if we'll ever meet him, and if he'd go so far as to pull strings to get mc into the celestial realm (everyone wants the once powerful mortal on their side). And imagine him making sure to keep mc's info access limited, but then let's say luke catches a glimpse and tells the brothers. Imagine mc doesn't remember the brothers either, but there's this dull tug in their gut when they see these demons. Painful angst. (And if mc DID keep their memories, would they immediately choose to fall? Imagine your fave catches you. like I think my mc would stick around to get info and out of curiosity, but would secretly be planning to fall. Even if it was painful, it'd be worth it to them.)
or mc ends up in the devildom because of how big of a tie they have. I wonder if they would/could become an Avatar, and what if they did. Despair possibly? Would they be a regular demon, or have a special power perhaps? Diavolo would probably give them a noble title. but also, ANGST IF THEY HAVE NO RECOLLECTION OF ANYTHING. Diavolo early in NB said something about knowing almost every demon, so I wonder if he meets new people to help them get set up?? aha imagine he lets them stay at the castle, and mc wanders off, and bumps into someone they used to know. chaos
There's also the possibility they could become immortal I'm sure with a spell or Solomon's cooking. Or maybe their lifespan is just longer than a humans by a hundred years or so. They simply cherish the time they have, but suddenly they're aging past 120 and they're sweating internally. Solomon I think has talked about feeling like he loses/lost touch with his humanity, until he met mc. I wonder if mc would go through the same if they ended up truly immortal
THIS IS GETTING SO LONG SORRY, BUT THIS IS MY LAST AND FAVORITE IDEA. The three worlds couldn't decide what happens to mc, like this is the first time this has happened. Huge arguments. Sometimes i think about the good place show when I'm brainstorming. ANYWAY, mc becomes a reaper. No one gets their soul. They are now in charge of collecting them, and reapers are sorta neutral right? It's a compromise for everyone. Thirteen is overjoyed. Mc with a scythe, what will they do? Or the night dagger lol
the obey me manga comes out on tuesday i think, I'm probably hitting the bookstore on Thursday. and while I could order it online, something about finding it on the shelf is so fun. I literally finished king of wrath on friday, and read almost the entirety of king of pride on Saturday, and now I'm on king of greed. My friend is concerned with how fast I read because we have a book tracking app that allows buddy reads lol
HAVE A GOOD DAY CC, MANIFESTING YOUR NEXT TEN PULL HAS TWO UR+ CARDS
- ✨ anon
AH thank you, ✨ anon, I need all the luck I can get lol!!
Now see the interesting thing about all of this is that the game doesn't really specify. I do think they have implied that hell is a separate place from the Devildom (aka the Underworld where Solomon walked through the rings and Luci got trapped in the ice). So presumably if MC died and went to hell, they wouldn't actually end up in the Devildom itself. I don't remember if they've implied the same for heaven and the Celestial Realm, but it seems likely that it would be the case.
Personally I like the idea of reincarnation but MC just... keeps being reincarnated as a human on earth lol. Like every time MC dies, the others have to find them again. And they don't remember each life. Though if this happens enough perhaps Solomon or somebody comes up with a spell that can restore all their memories.
I do think it'd be interesting if Michael intervened and somehow got MC to be in the Celestial Realm, especially if they had no memories of the Devildom and everything. Imagine being an angel and then suddenly you get those memories back and you're like, that's it, I'm falling.
Which leads me to the question of how does one fall?
They don't really get into the specifics of that, either. Can you choose to fall? Or do you just do terrible things with the hope that the consequence will be banishment to the Devildom?? I have thoughts about this, but it's all just personal headcanon stuff.
I do think it makes sense for MC to just sorta end up in the Devildom because yo that's basically their home now, you know?
I tend to headcanon that due to the pacts and the "ring" and everything else MC has been through, they have enough magic interfering with their usual biology that they're probably already immortal. Just because that makes sense to me. I also think Solomon probably knows a way to make them immortal if they really wanted to be. vampire!MC lol
AHHH reaper!MC!! Thirteen would be thrilled!! They don't really give us a whole lot of info about the reapers either, but I headcanon that they're neutral and somewhat outside of the whole Devildom vs Celestial Realm situation. I have a lot of ideas about this, but again it's all personal headcanon.
So I think any of these options are possible! And it's certainly fun to think about all the ways in which MC's death might be dealt with. Somehow I don't think we're gonna get anything like that in canon, but I guess you never know!
Ah I love reading, I used to read so much... now I don't read as much as I used to because I'm spending all my time writing al;kdfkjfd. But yes the manga I read the first free chapter they had, but maybe I will buy the book itself...
Anyway, I love all these ideas and I think it's fascinating to think about all of these possibilities!

“I don’t give two shits and half how important this game is, Wheeler. This is the second time you’ve asked me to postpone. Not gonna happen.”
“But, Eddie, please! Lucas needs us there!”
“Not my fault he’s been taking in by the dark side.”
The cafeteria buzzed alive with conversation. Some tables talked about the latest fashion, some discussed homework and how hot the history teacher looked. But the hellfire table discussed what they always discussed, which was the campaign.
“He’s gonna be pissed if we don’t show.” Dustin whispered to Mike, gaining a nod from his friend.
Eddie was tough when it came to the campaigns, especially when it came to postponing them. It rarely ever happened.
“Well, then, maybe Sinclair isn’t one of us,” Eddie heard them anyways, raising his brows as he leaned back into his seat, seeping in annoyance at his little sheep he was raising. He took an angry munch out of his peanut butter and jelly sandwich, one that he had swiped when someone wasn’t looking. He was too lazy to get up and prepare lunch for himself. Wayne always offered to get him something, but he assured his uncle that he would be fine, even though he always regretted it.
It disappointed him that Lucas was slipping away into the grasp of Jason Carver. The snake of Hawkins, despite what society thought. And in a way, it hurt his feelings, because he took him in without question, never brought up any of the reasons why people made fun of him, or the rest of the kids. But, Eddie didn’t like to show his feelings. And when he did, it was usually in displays of dramatics. He didn’t know how to truly process and act out his feelings. Compliments of mommy and daddy issues.
“Hey, guys!”
Your voice snapped him out of his thoughts, including everyone else’s, and he turned his head to see you standing there. “Well, well, well,” He smirked, sitting up. “To what do I owe the pleasure, Ms. L/n?”
You stood right beside him, hair fixed in double braids to keep out of your face, your usual hairstyle. You wore shorts and a tight fitted hawkins t-shirt, your white tennis shoes to go with it.
“Well, I was wondering if you guys would like to come to my soccer game tonight?” You smiled, looking at everyone. “I know that’s not typically your scene, but it’s for a good cause! We’re having a bake sale to help with natural disaster refugees, so if you guys come it would be a big help.”
He rested his chin against his fingers, listening to you talk. You had gained a few stares being seen with the hellfire club, but you didn’t care. You never cared. You were different, and that’s why Eddie liked you. When he was younger, he always thought it was because you wanted something. Maybe free drugs or just a hookup, he didn’t know. But it simply wasn’t the case.
You were one of the most athletic girls in school. You hung out with the popular kids and the cheerleaders. Your best friend was Chrissy Cunningham. You came from wealthy parents and had money left and right. It would only be stereotypical for you to be an asshole, right? But you weren’t.
In fact, you were one of the sweetest people he’d ever met, and mostly everyone there would have only agreed. It was just in your nature. You weren’t a snob, and only ever radiated kindness. You too had never hung out before, but he considered you to be a friend of his, and maybe he even had a little bit of a crush on you, but he always diminished it, just because of your status. He didn’t want to ruin your reputation just because he thought you were pretty.
“Bake sale, huh?” He wiggled his brows. “You doing the baking?”
“Some!” You nodded with a smile, making him deepen his grin. “I’m bringing cookies and brownies, and I know Chrissy is bringing stuff, too. If you can’t make it that’s okay, just wanted to extend the offer.”
You were the only person that extended offers to their little group, and everyone appreciated you for it. “We have hellfire tonight.” Mike groaned, gaining a sharp glare from his dungeon master.
“Oh,” You narrowed your eyes. “That- that game you guys play, right? Oh, well that’s okay! Hope you guys have fun! See ya, Eddie!”
He muttered a bye as he flushed at the hand you patted his shoulder with, turning to watch you walk away. Any other time, he’d never even think about going to a community bake sale for the hawkins soccer team, but since you asked him, he almost felt bad at the idea of not showing. He respected you a lot. You never called him a freak, never made fun of him or bullied him for the clothes he wore. You never made fun of the kids, either, and that, he respected even more. He felt like he owed it to you, in a way. A thank you, for being so kind to him.
“Go to Sinclair’s game.” He kicked back his chair, popping a pretzel in his mouth.
“What?” Dustin asked.
“Go to his game.” He enunciated with his fingers. “Hellfires canceled. I got a bake sale to go to.”
He’d never felt more uncomfortable in his life. He closed the door to his van with a slam, adjusting his jean jacket as he reached for a cigarette. It wasn’t allowed to smoke on school grounds, but when did he give a shit? He inhaled the smoke as a way to settle his nerves, and he scanned the busy parking lot to the school, his eyes spotting the soccer field. Gareth had offered to go with him for morel support, but he preferred to go by himself so he could sulk in the shadows.
He didn’t have much money on him to actually buy a lot, but he had some, and he wanted to support the cause. It was nice. He looked up to the sky when he felt a raindrop, squinting his eyes as the crowd buzzed and cheered. The game had just started, and he smirked when he seen your bouncing braids, cheeks red and flushed as you kicked the ball with fierce.
He shamelessly blew smoke in everyone’s eyes, ignoring the stares he got and gave them the finger. He eventually wound up at the tables with the baked goods on them, and he tried to remember what you said you were bringing. Brownies and Cookies? He fished out his wallet and pulled out some ones, picking out a few things his eyes kept darting back up to you.
You were a good cook, he had noted after taking a wide bite of your brownie, settling himself down by the bleachers. He didn’t sit, only leaned against them as he watched you play. He didn’t know shit about the game, but he found himself entertained by it. He knew it was only because of you.
Almost an hour later, the sky had darkened and began to sprinkle. His eyes squinted in the rain and he straightened himself, ignoring the pathetic cries that the girls screamed. It was just water. The game continued until lightening striked, and the coach blew his whistle sharply, bringing the game to a close. Everyone scattered about to rush into their vehicles, and he lowered himself under the bleachers to a avoid the run. Luckily, most of everything had sold, and what was left the teachers grabbed to rushed inside.
His eyes found you as you scurried off the field, and he tucked away a hair behind his ear, wanting to talk to you. Hurriedly, he pushed himself out of the bleachers, jogging over to you. “Hey, L/n!” He called over the thunder, causing you to hault.
“Eddie?” You shouted, clothes soaking. “What are you doing?”
“Need a ride?” He cupped his hands over his mouth, pointing over to his van.
Chrissy would be with Jason, you figured. And all of your other friends, well you didn’t even care much for them. “Why the hell not!”
“I appreciate you coming. Hopefully it wasn’t too bad for you.” You chuckled, adjusting your wet body uncomfortably in his seat.
“When have I not been known to support our little town?” He smirked, casting you a sideways glance. “And hey, it was worth it. You’re a good cook.”
“You think so? I honestly wasn’t sure about bringing anything.” You cringed awkwardly.
“Nah, you did good.” He rested his hand on your seat, eyes squinting in the rain as he pulled out of the school parking lot. “So tell me, which way to the castle?”
Headlights shone against the windshield, the sound of rain slamming against the metal roof of the van. “You know where maple is?”
“Yep.”
“The house is 516, the blue one with the big windows. Gee’ I probably shouldn’t be telling you this, huh? You’re not gonna sneak in and try and kill me, are you?” You teased, leaning your head against the seat.
“Not now, no,” He shook his head with a grin. “I mean, now it would just be awkward.”
You both laughed and were filled with a comfortable silence. The rain being the only thing that could be heard. Your house was across town, so it was a little bit of a drive.
“You played good tonight.” He broke the silence, glancing over at you. Your hair was sticking to your face, your cheeks red from being tired. You looked cute.
“Thanks. I try. I’m glad you could come. You never really show yourself at the games.” You leaned your head against the window to watch him, fighting off a yawn. You always liked Eddie, and never understood why everyone hated him so much. He was the same as everyone else, in one way or another. You always respected him. That was how it should be.
“Well, it’s not really my scene.” He pulled out another cigarette, switching his hand with the wheel as he grabbed his lighter.
“It could be.” You offered, reaching over to steady the wheel while he performed his task.
“And what get tomatoes tossed at me?” He took in a puff, exhaling the smoke. “I’m good, L/n.”
You smiled melancholy. “Can I have a puff?”
His brows raised. “Can you- seriously? You smoke?” he exclaimed, looking back between you and the road.
“What’s so surprising about that?” You challenged, kicking your feet up on the dash.
He blushed at your confidence. “Well, cuz’ you’re- ya know, a popular kid.”
“Popular kids can’t smoke?”
You laughed at his stuttering and awkwardness, and he scoffed, shaking his head. “Nevermind. Go for it.” He handed you the cigarette, watching as you took a drag.
“How come we never hangout?” You asked, relaxing the cigarette between your fingers.
Your question took him off guard, and he gave you an odd look. “And ruin your reputation?”
“You know I don’t care about that stuff.” You passed him the cigarette. He did know that.
“Well, I don’t know.” He shrugged uncomfortably. “Just never do, I guess.”
You sighed to yourself, feeling comfortable in his presence. You always did, more so than the people you call friends. It was all an act, and when you were with him, you felt like you didn’t have to act. “We should change that.” You suggested casually. “I mean, you like me, don’t you?”
He coughed on his smoke at the question, and you kept in your laugh to save him some embarrassment. “Oh- uh..well, yeah. You’re pretty cool considering your social status, L/n. It’s pretty impressive.”
You closed your eyes as you puffed out air from your nostrils. “Yeah, I’m real great.”
You were such a mystery to him. How did you not fear him like everyone else did? How did you not cringe when you saw him? He always doubted himself around people, a trait he’d gotten from the constant years of bullying, but he never did around you. “Why aren’t you like the others?” He stopped at a stoplight, watching as traffic went by. “You’ve never treated me like everyone else does. Why?”
You opened your eyes at his words, a sinking in your heart that made you feel sad. “Because you’re not what they call you, Eddie. You’re the exact opposite. Just because you like a game and rock music doesn’t mean that you’re..it doesn’t mean that you’re any different from anyone else.”
You had a tone with the way you spoke and he noticed, licking his lips as he focused on the road and to you. He gave a slow nod, not knowing what else to do. “Well…if you really mean it, I suppose you could always come to Hellfire night.”
“You mean it?” Your eyes widened happily.
“Sure,” He breathed with a small smile. “The kids might be a little awkward around you, but they’ll loosen up. They’ve always liked you. You’ve never picked on them like everyone else in that damn school does.”
You sighed sadly at his words, your eyes focusing on your little blue house on the corner. You unbuckled your seatbelt as he pulled into the drive, as close as he could do to the door, as it was still raining. “Here you go. Hopefully riding with the freak wasn’t so terrible,” He smirked playfully, putting the van in park.
You smiled back and scooted closer to him, and he stilled when you wrapped your arms around his neck. “Oh…uh, okay.” He stuttered awkwardly, patting your back with his ring clad palm.
“Thank you for today.” You breathed into his shoulder, feeling comfortable in his presence. “If you still want me to come to hellfire, I will.” You pulled away, tucking a baby hair away from your face.
“Yeah!” He nodded quickly, face blushing red. “Yeah, you’re uh- you’re cool. You’d be more than welcome there. Definitely.”
Maybe it was a mistake, maybe you’d curse yourself later down the line, but you didn’t think so. Eddie made you feel like yourself. He made you feel good about being you, not ashamed like everyone else. “Well, then there’s something you should know,” You grabbed your sopping wet bag, pushing it over your shoulder.
“And that is?”
You never felt so confident, and it encouraged you forward. “I’m a freak, too, Munson.”
He snickered, turning more toward you. “Oh, really? You? A freak? How so?”
You knew he had always had a little bit of a crush on you, so you hoped that his heart wouldn’t be too broken. You leaned over to grab his hand, opening up the van door with your other. “I like girls.”
His eyes had widened at the statement, mouth opening and closing in shock from your words. You watched nervously for his reaction, but he only swallowed roughly and nodded. “Well, there you go.” He tried to shake off the disappointment he felt, giving a noisy puff of air.
“You still want me at Hellfire?” You said tentatively.
“What? Oh, yeah, yeah!” He assured you. “Yeah, no, I uh- that doesn’t bother me. Promise, it doesn’t.”
You smiled. You knew it wouldn’t.
“I gotta admit though,” He pushed a hand through his curls. “I’m a little disappointed. I thought maybe we had something going on.” He chuckled in embarrassment, causing you to do the same.
“I’m sorry. But if it makes you feel any better, I could set you up with my cousin. She’s coming in from new york next weekend.”
“She hot?” His ears perked up.
“I mean, she’s my cousin, but sure.” You both laughed and he nodded. “Alright then. This could work. You can be like my..my wingman!”
“Sure.” You beamed, a happy weight leaving your shoulders. “So I guess I’ll see you at school?”
“You got it.” He watched as you left the van, closing the door and sprinting off to the porch. He waved at you as you did the same, entering your house until he could no longer see you.
He sighed loudly, thinking of the potentially hot cousin he was going to be having sex with. “Yeah, this could work.”

pairing: Eddie Munson x Female Reader
summary: You find yourself hanging out with Eddie Munson at Lover’s Lake one night and feel something you’ve never felt before
warnings/extra tags: kissing, sexual tension (i think), feelings, fluff, it’s my first time writing eddie so this is a warning, beta read, edited by autocorrect tm
note: This can also be read as Eddie/Chrissy if you so choose, I loved them and wanted to emulate that kind of dynamic with a reader! Anyway, I got inspired by Valley Girl (1983), and a certain scene, so please enjoy and thank you for reading!
✧ ✧ ✧
You weren't usually like this. Maybe it was because you’ve never done anything like this before in your life, hanging out with a guy you vaguely recognized from school in a van at Lover's Lake all night .
The truth was though, you didn't know if this was something you weren't like, or were like, as you've come to realize how superficial you were after breaking it off with your boyfriend of almost four years.
You were over it, over him. He never called when he said he would, keeping you waiting. He talked to other girls, flirted with them on occasion. He made you feel like you were just there, like you were just some chair in the corner of his bedroom he'd just throw his dirty laundry on.
Your friends were deadbent on you just wanting to have some kind of fun, that maybe you were perhaps bored with him when you knew there was a lot more to it.
Your boyfriend had thought so too, claiming that you'd be back after you handed him his wrist watch back he'd make you wear to show everyone who you belonged to. Your reputation would, in his words, take a downfall and his exclamations just reminded you of how his narcissist personality seemed to have only skyrocketed since you started dating in freshman year.
And maybe, they were right in some way. You wanted, no, craved something different, something that made you feel something that you should be feeling in a relationship that isn't the dullness you felt with your now ex-boyfriend. The only problem is that every available guy at Hawkins High was disinterested, treating you like you were still your ex-boyfriend's property and ignoring you when you tried to strike up friendly conversation.
It was frustrating, especially when at the basketball game that started your adventurous night you would look across the court and see your ex's eyes on you. He was wearing a smug expression, silently telling you that he'd be waiting for you when you beg him to take you back.
You kept your head up then, sticking by your friend's side and indulging her talking about how cute some of the opposing players of the basketball team were. Your eyes would continue to meet your ex's until the final buzzer would go off.
The Hawkins Tigers had lost by just a single point, but still decided to have a party at one of the player's places. Your parents had already expected you to sleep-over at your friend's house, and be back the following afternoon.
If only things worked out like that.
Long story short, you were left by yourself at Hawkins High, your friend ditching you to go with her own boyfriend to this party. Your ex had found it amusing when he pulled his car up to you, asking if you were ready to come back after being left alone like he suspected.
When you said no, he laughed and said he'd give you time to think, and then...he drove off, leaving you all by yourself in the near empty parking lot of Hawkins High.
If your ex had wanted you to feel humiliated, it had definitely worked. Sitting all alone in the parking lot on a bench, and you thought at that second that at least nobody was here to witness you here all alone and on the verge of tears.
That was when you met Eddie Munson.
The double doors of the one of the school buildings behind you had been slammed open, and Eddie emerged all alone. He had been planning his final Dungeons and Dragons campaign for the Hellfire Club that would start that following Monday, and time had escaped him as he planned meticulously as the Dungeon Master.
He didn't see you at first, not until he heard a hiccup that was followed by a sniffle as he was digging in his pockets to pull his car keys out. His eyebrows had folded inward and he turned his head to see you sitting there all by yourself, tears glistening in your eyes and on your cheeks.
"Oh," Eddie started, "Are you uh, okay?"
At the sound of his voice, your eyes widened and you only turned to look at him for half a second before turning away to try and wipe your tears away.
"M' fine," you replied, "Just waiting for my ride."
Eddie stared at you for a long moment, and then looked around, seeing no cars pulling into the parking lot or any other cars beside his own van. He checked his watch then, seeing just exactly how late it was.
"Are you sure?" he questioned you, "Because you're kind of crying like a kid whose parents forgot to pick them up from soccer practice."
You scoffed loudly, and finally met his eyes again, "Do I really?"
"Oh yeah," Eddie replied, "Though...it's pretty unbelievable that anyone would forget you." He felt his own cheeks heat up at his attempt to flatter and cheer you up.
And even though it was pretty lame, it had actually worked. You laughed, albeit it was a weak and quiet one, but a laugh nonetheless.
"That's probably because I wasn't forgotten," you admitted easily to him for some reason, "My friend kind of just left me here, and...I guess my boyfriend- well ex boyfriend did too."
Eddie's jaw had dropped, "Ex-boyfriend? Wait...I think I know you now, you were dating that asshole, what's his face? I don't know, all their faces become one in my head since they all look the same."
You laughed again, and this time, it was a more genuine one and Eddie's gaze lingered on your smile for longer than he should've.
"It doesn't really matter who it is, but yeah," you said your ex boyfriend's name. Eddie was shaking his head then, in disbelief mostly.
"And what about your friend? Did she have an emergency or something?"
You huffed, very irritated with her too, and replied, "If you call a party an emergency, then yes."
Eddie snorted at her, "What a bitch."
You laughed again and nodded in agreement, "Yeah...yeah I'm starting to think so too."
Eddie would admit that he didn't know you that well, outside of just a first name, but that was mostly because he remembered you from an English class you shared. Outside of that, he didn't really have any thought about you, up until right now.
You actually seemed nice, and genuine. And clearly, you had a sense of humor too with how he was successfully making you laugh with his comments. He would say that you were actually pretty cool and...well he wasn't going to leave you here all by yourself was he? Only problem was, he wasn't sure how to ask you if he could take you home without possibly scaring you off.
Before he could though, you were asking him a question instead.
"What...what's your name?" your question had caught him off guard, despite the way you tried to ask him as politely as you could, and when you saw him squint his eyes at you, you quickly added, "No, I know you, I remember being is Ms. B's English class together...I'm just having a hard time putting a name to your face."
You were cringing then, feeling stupid that this guy was here trying to cheer you up and you couldn't even remember his name.
Eddie had sighed deeply, and sadly, "Wow, and here I thought we were having a special connection. I know your name, but you don’t even know mine.”
He looked away from you, and was shaking his head while you frowned and leaned the upper part of your body forward, trying to look at him and tell him you were sorry for being so dumb and rude.
But then, he turned to look at you and you saw an amused grin growing on his lips. You scoffed loudly and crossed your arms as he chuckled and told you who he was.
When he said his name, you felt even more stupid.
"Eddie," you said under your breath, "I feel like I knew that or at least should’ve."
"Oh don’t worry, it's a pretty unique name if you ask me..." he brought one hand to the back of his neck and you laughed softly.
“So...uh...Eddie..."
His eyes were on your lips again as you said his name, and he replied to you with a breathless yeah as his eyes still lingered there.
You had noticed his eyes weren't on yours, and you shifted slightly in your spot, not understanding what he was looking at or why you suddenly felt warm underneath his brown gaze.
In a suddenly shy voice, you asked if he could take you home. That was when his eyes flickered back upward to meet yours, and you watched his long lashes fluttering as he blinked.
He turned to look at his van, then held out his hand to it, and then the other to you, "Your chariot awaits, mi'lady."
You let out a breath you didn't realize you were holding due to sudden nerves that had you nervous he'd say no and leave you too. You took his hand like he seemed to have wanted you too, and you found yourself very hyper aware of how his hand had felt.
His fingers were a little rough, and his metal rings felt cool against your palm in the few seconds your hand had been in his. It made your face feel hot, and caused your heart to slightly skip a beat.
You had gone quiet because of this sudden feeling of warmth that Eddie Munson was making you feel. It wasn't a bad feeling, you deducted, but rather quite good.
Eddie had mistook your silence in his van for sadness, or something along that emotion. And so, he did what he thought would make you feel better. He motioned to the radio, and said, "Hope you don't mind."
And you really didn't mind, as it was his van and he was nice enough to take you home when your friend abandoned you and your ex left you out of spite.
That was when a loud, almost obnoxious song (at least that's what your friends would say if they heard it) that you honestly should've expected but didn't began to play the moment he turned it on. You even jumped when the heavy guitar and rock accompaniment blasted through the speakers.
Instead of turning it down, Eddie had actually turned it up and he had laughed when he saw you look at him with wide eyes.
"You can only really feel the music when it's this loud!" he shouted at you over the music, "Do you listen to this kind of music?!"
The corners of your lips were almost twitching up into a smile as you replied, "No, I don't really-"
"What?! You're gonna have to speak up!" Eddie shouted again as he began to tap his hands against the steering wheel and bang his head to the music.
Anyone would be irritated at this point, but you instead found yourself amused and...very intrigued with Eddie. You admired the way his long, messy brown hair bounced with every head bang, and didn't even worry that he was driving over the speed-limit or barely paying attention to the road. He was making you grin widely before you even realized it.
"I don't really listen to this kind of music!" you shouted this time, and Eddie gasped in feign shock as his eyes flashed toward the road and then he chuckled.
"Just kidding! It doesn't really surprise me! But that's okay! I'm glad I'm the first to introduce you to it! This is WASP!"
He even tapped the pin he wore on his sleeveless denim jacket he wore over his leather jacket. You stared at the pin, and then you were just staring at him again, finding him and this feeling he was bringing out of you so very endearing.
You turned away from him then, and began to focus on the music. First, you were tapping your hands on your thigh, and then your leg was bouncing to the music. It was little movement, but Eddie had caught it. He felt like he'd just won something when he saw you were actually enjoying this music.
It was like this until he pulled into your neighborhood, and up to your house, and even then, he didn't turn the music down as it echoed down the empty, dark street. It was making you laugh, out of pure amusement and nervousness as you were sure your neighbors and parents were probably being woken up.
"You're going to wake up the whole neighborhood!" you shouted at him, your grin widening as he only continued to bang his head harder to the music, "Eddie! Please!"
You weren't sure if he was actually just messing with you, or if he actually just didn't hear you this time. You reached over and rested your hand onto his shoulder and shook him.
When he still didn't respond to that, you knew he was messing around. Playfully rolling your eyes, you leaned your face toward and closer to him, but before you could shout for him to please turn it down, he had stopped aggressively banging his head and turned to look at you.
Your prior thought of wanting to tell him to turn it down all but vanished from your mind as you realized how your faces were only a few mere inches away from each other.
His lips were parted, his breaths heavier from the performance he was putting on for you, and his hair was more wild than before, framing his face. It was his eyes though that captivated you...they were so big and brown, too soft for a boy like him.
Something sparked within you, and once again, your face had grown hot, and you realized then what it was you feeling. It was how you felt once about your ex, back in Freshman year, before he grew in popularity, before he changed for the worse.
You hadn't felt such a way in a long time, and it was striking to you that Eddie Munson, a guy you really only met tonight, was bringing it out of you so easily.
You swallowed thickly then, a shyness like never before washing over you. Still, a small smile was resting on your lips and you leaned toward him, placing your face right beside his ear and said softly in his ear, "Good night, Eddie."
Your breath had tickled around his ear, and it had gently blown some of his messy strands of hair too. It sent something straight down Eddie's spine, and he could only stare at you almost dumbfounded in the after effects of it as you leaned away from him.
You didn't move to leave when you did though, your hand didn't even reach for the handle to indicate that you were. You were just gazing at him, as if waiting for him to do something that he didn't know.
It was probably for him to tell you good-night back, but what slipped from his mouth after he turned the music down finally was, "Want to get out of here?"
He inwardly cursed at himself, feeling as if he was pushing his luck. He drove you home like you'd asked him to, and now...he was asking you to stay with him? A girl who he doesn’t really know as well as she knows him?
You were quiet for a moment, and asked, much to his surprise, “Where would we go?"
Eddie shrugged weakly, "Anywhere, I guess."
Your eyes fluttered gently as you stared at him in thought, contemplating on if going with him was a good choice, or a bad one.Sure, he was making you feel something you forgot, but that didn't mean you should act on it and go with him somewhere this late.
Still, this feeling inside of you was powerful, soaring through you and flooding you with a warmth that told you to say yes, yes, I'll go with you, Eddie, wherever you want.
You listened to that feeling. Your parents weren't expecting you home until tomorrow and you decided that if there was a better time to take this kind of chance, it was now.
"Take me wherever you want, Eddie."
And he did.
You found yourself at Lover's Lake with Eddie Munson, sitting across from him in the back of his van while rock music vibrated the floor of the van beneath you.
You hadn't stopped smiling since being with him, hadn't stopped laughing, and this feeling he was giving you only got stronger and stronger, to the point where you wondered if you'd ever felt something like this so strongly before.
He was striking, and just different, from the way he acted to the way he dressed and spoke. Everything about him was making your heart soar as he talked about himself and his band, as he introduced you to his favorite songs and artists, and especially with the smile he would give you after he'd make you laugh again, like he was amazed he was making you laugh so much.
He made you feel different as well, but maybe this feeling of difference was actually just you, the real you poking through that hadn't gotten a chance to come out because of your past shackle of a relationship and reputation you had wore for nearly all four years of high school.
He had since taken his jackets off, letting you cover your bare legs with the leather one while he was left in what you learned to be an Iron Maiden shirt, a band he had shown you as well.
Throughout your conversations, and breaks where you would listen to the music he was showing you, your eyes were drawn to a tattoo on his right forearm. You didn't think he had noticed your looks, not until the song ended and he twisted his arm for you to get a better look.
"You like it?" he asked you as he flexed his arm out for you so you could get a better look. You reached out without really thinking, gently grasping his wrist and causing him to inhale sharply, especially when the tips of your fingers traced over his tattoo with interest.
You heard him, and let him go, "Sorry, I don't know why I did that." You chuckled nervously, but Eddie was shaking his head.
"No, it's okay! I was being the weird one," he shifted in his spot, moving the van slightly and reached up to the collar of his shirt, "I have more, you know." His hands grabbed at his collar and lowered it, showing you more that decorated his skin. You would've never expected it, but what you didn't expect more was a heat settling at the pit of your stomach at the sight.
Now, that was different from the fuzzy, warmth that continued to course through you.
"Wow," you said, slightly short winded at the sight of his tattoos and chain that he wore around his neck. He looked satisfied with your reaction, dropping his hand back down and resting it over his thigh.
He tapped his fingers against it for a moment, as if contemplating his next words. Eddie wasn't stupid, he could see the way you were looking at him, the way you've been looking at him since you told him good night about an hour prior.
There was something about you that he liked, as you were different than he suspected you were too. And he suddenly wondered if this would be the only night you'd ever spend time.
"So..." he started without really thinking, "When am I going to see you again?"
Your eyes fluttered shut for a moment, and lifted back to meet him, and you chuckled nervously, "You know, Eddie, most guys would say things like that when the night is over."
Eddie bent his left leg to his chest and rested his arm onto it, and he was grinning, his cheeks slightly redder than before, "Shit, okay, that sounded lame, sorry...but I'm just going to roll with it, it's just how I...feel, and I want to see you again...and again after that."
You felt the butterflies flutter in your stomach once again, touched by his words.
"I'm here with you now."
Your voice was so soft when you said it, and all Eddie could say was as swiping his bottom lip with his tongue was, "I know."
Your gaze rested on each other then, and you found it harder to look away from this time. His wide, soft brown eyes that continued to captivate you.
It's been a long time since you've felt like this, but the more you thought about it, the more you wondered if you'd ever felt like this with anyone, this kind of connection you felt with Eddie at this moment.
"I don't know how to explain it," you stated your thought, "It's like my mind is just moving and moving and won't stop."
You felt silly saying such a thing, even laughing out of embarrassment, but if Eddie thought so he didn't say anything. Instead, he just stared at you, as captivated with you as you were with him.
"Yeah?" he said, his voice a little quieter.
"Yeah...it's like...I feel like we're kind of connected in a way." You nervously chuckled again, "God, I sound so weird- it's ridiculous right? I barely got to know you tonight."
It didn't occur to you that Eddie was probably feeling the same way, not until he swiped his tongue over his lips again and let his eyes fall. Your heart jumped, realizing that every time his eyes had flickered down while staring at you, it was because he was looking at your lips.
Your heart had blossomed in your chest then, and suddenly your words didn't sound or feel so ridiculous to you. This connection you felt, he was certainly feeling it too, with the way he was gazing at you and your lips all night.
"Eddie," you said his name softly, in a tone that was asking him to do something you couldn't say out loud for some reason. So, you did it yourself.
His leather jacket slipped from your lap as you moved to sit on your knees, and moved toward him like how one might crawl to someone you landed on to kiss in a game of spin the bottle. All the while he watched you closely, until you were closer to him. You leaned toward him, he smelled vaguely of cigarettes with a hint of cologne, a unique smell to you that you were positive you'd never forget and it intertwined with your more expensive perfume.
You breathed it in, breathed him in, letting your mind short circuit for a moment, but then you stopped, and realized how forward you were being.
You didn't do things like this, like you mentioned before, you had one boyfriend, one man you've ever really kissed and been this close to. Doubt flooded your mind, but you didn't have time to really think on it as you met his gaze again.
His eyes were slightly darker, his cheeks flushed, and there was silent message sent between the both of you. Your doubt all but vanished, and you and Eddie were leaning in, your lips meeting each other halfway as you tilted your head.
His lips were warm, and your chapstick made it easy for his lips to slide and move against yours. It was slow at first, almost shy, as if you were both testing the waters, but it changed a few seconds in.
It felt like you were getting drunk off of him, and his lips and taste were suddenly making your legs wobbly. He must've noticed you falter slightly, as right afterwards he rested a hand onto your waist and kept you steady.
You leaned closer to him, causing his lips to move more rough against yours. You exhaled sharply through your nose when you felt his tongue swipe your bottom lip, and you gently parted your lips for him.
A noise escaped from you when he slipped his tongue inside of your mouth, colliding with yours. God, you were definitely getting drunk off of him for sure and nothing felt more right than his lips devouring yours.
Your skin felt hot, and you were shifting in your spot before you knew it, moving so that you could sit onto his lap. Eddie complied, his lips leaving yours and eyes opening as the hand on your waist left and moved to grasp the back of your thigh.
His cool, metal rings felt cold against the skin of your thighs as he helped you sit on him and it sent a fresh wave of chills and desire through you. As you sat comfortably on top of him, you moved your hands to his long strands of hair.
He must've had the same reaction as you, as his breath hitched and his eyes that were half-lidded with desire flashed up to meet your own stare that mirrored his.
"What a nice fucking night this turned out to be," he said, the curse word slipping easily from his wet lips that shined with the residue of your chapstick.
You giggled softly at him, and agreed with him by leaning down and kissing him once again.
Like you said, you didn't do things like this, but for the first time in a long time, you knew you were doing something you wanted, something that felt right.

「 bruised body, broken heart 」
gareth emerson x fem reader
summary: your best friend gets worried, and rightfully so, when you ignore him the day after you have a date with someone else.
requested: yes
word count: 1.7k
warnings: implied jealousy, mentions of physical assault, mentions of bruising, crying, worried gareth & hellfire, brief mention of hospital visits
a/n: uhm...so i got a little carried away with this. it was supposed to be 700 words or less, and its obviously not. i think it's pretty cute though, & it was extremely fun writing for a different character than who i normally do. quick note: the nickname i use for him i've been pronouncing as 'gair' - kind of like how you'd say gary, but without the 'y.' anyways, i hope you enjoy this!! Xx
p.s. if anyone wants to talk about this fic with me pls do bc it gave me so many thoughts
Tumblr media
“Have fun on your date. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
With Gareth's words echoing around your head, you can’t help but wince and curl in even further on yourself as you sit on the floor of your bathroom. You sure had a lot of fun. That is if getting ambushed by said date and his douchey friends can be considered fun.
You should have known that someone like Ryan James wouldn’t have asked you out on a date and seriously meant it. Yet you let your hope delude you, and you are certainly paying for it.
There’s no way you can show up to school all bruised like this, but there’s also no way your parents are going to let you stay home. Not when they didn’t know about your date and won’t know about how shitty it was.
Gareth is going to lose it when he sees what happened. That thought alone is enough to make your heart ache with guilt.  He’s your best friend, has been for nearly your entire lives, and he didn’t want you to go. He didn’t want you going on that date and you ignored him.
You should have just listened to him. Surely he had a better idea of what they were planning than you did.
~.~
Gareth hasn’t been able to sit still at all today. Not when he’s been worried about you from the moment he got to school.
You would always greet him with a smile and tight hug at your locker before first period. It was just something you did, but you were nowhere to be seen today.
It’s bad enough that he doesn’t share any classes with you, but his anxiety only skyrocketed when you failed to show up for lunch as well. He had asked the guys, of course, if they had seen you, but he was slightly hoping they would all say no.
Although the thought of you not being at school at all worried him, it didn’t worry him nearly as much as the thought of you avoiding him which is what his brain jumped to when Jeff said that he’d seen you in the few classes the two of you share.
“Well is she okay? It’s not normal for her to ignore me.” He had asked, his heart racing and sinking to his stomach all at the same time.
“As far as I could tell.”
While Jeff’s vague reassurance helped slightly, Gareth still couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong. You don’t ignore him. Not for anything, so something has to be wrong. He just needs to figure out what.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t take him long to figure out. Not when you hurriedly walk into the club room right at 3:15 for tonight’s campaign, sporting a black eye.
“Oh my god! What happened to you?” Gareth exclaims, not hesitating even a second to cling to your side.
“I’m fine, Gar. Please.”
“Please what, y/n? I haven’t seen you all day, and now you try to sneak into the club with a black eye? What happened?”
“Gareth.” Eddie sighs, trying to get his friend to calm down.
It’s obvious how he feels about you, and that he’s worried, but his demanding tone isn’t going to help anything.
“Calm down, man. You don’t need to interrogate her.”
“Calm down?! Just look at her, Eddie! She’s covered in bruises, and you’re telling me to calm down?”
“Gareth, please. I’m fine, I promise.” You beg, already uncomfortable with how much of a scene he’s created.
“You’re not, and we both know it. You didn’t suddenly get into a fight, did you?”
Shaking your head, you really hope he’ll drop the topic. You knew he’d be upset, but you were hoping you could hide it long enough to get through hellfire.
“Then what happened?”
“It wasn’t your date was it?” He questions, voice softer than it had been, however when you fail to respond any, he starts to get upset again.
“Y/n, please tell me it wasn’t your date that did this to you.”
You can feel all the guys’ eyes on you which only makes you curl in on yourself again. With being the only girl in the club, all of the boys have become rather protective of you. Hearing that a date did this to you? None of them can blame Gareth for his boiling blood.
“N-not just him,” you mumble before your thoughts start tumbling out of your mouth without you even realizing what you’re saying.
“…but it was my own fault for even going on the stupid date and I’m sorry! I’m sorry.”
At your outburst, Gareth finds himself stunned, expression shifting from bubbling anger to confusion. You’re sorry? Why would you be sorry?
That’s when the reality of the situation settles in his mind - you went on your date last night and he, and apparently others, attacked you. They attacked and hurt you.
“Y/n. Hey, it’s okay. It’s okay, peanut. Why’re you sorry?” He questions, tenderly holding your arms as he shifts into comforting mode.
Although he wants to beat the living shit out of the guys that hurt you, that’s not what he needs to worry about right now. Not when you’ve got tears falling over your cheeks and you struggle to catch your breath.
“What do you have to be sorry for, peanut?”
“You…You didn’t want me going o-on the date. I-I should have listened, Gar.”
“Hey. Hey, I don’t care about that anymore, y/n. Just wanna know you’re okay, peanut.”
“Are you okay?” He reiterates after a moment of you catching your breath and sniffling.
All of the guys watch with bated breaths as you shake your head, your bottom lip pouted out as you refuse to make eye contact with anyone. Gareth is still carefully holding you by your biceps, keeping you from turning away from him, but he desperately wants you to look at him.
“You’re not okay?”
“I hurt…a lot.” You sigh, beginning to fidget with your fingers.
“Where?”
“Everywhere...I really didn’t want to get out of bed this morning. Hurt too much.”
“Then why did you, babe?” He questions, not even registering the pet name that slipped from his lips.
He’s too worried about you right now that he's not thinking straight, and the rest of the guys know it. You don’t, but they certainly do.
“You know my parents wouldn’t let me stay home unless I was actually dying.” You nearly whine, being too tired and sore to care.
The only thing you want to do right now is lay down somewhere comfy and let Gareth hold you, even if you aren’t super physical with each other on any normal day.
“Yeah, I know. Do they even know about this, peanut?”
As he watches you shake your head, he can’t help but let out a heavy sigh. You are going to be the death of him one of these days, he’s sure of it. However, he’s pretty sure he signed up for that risk the moment he became friends with you - long before he ever started to fall for you.
“Where else are you bruised? Can you show me? Need to know whether or not we need to make a detour to the hospital.” He teases, trying to make you feel less uncomfortable.
“Might not be a bad idea, Gar. They were…they weren’t too nice.”
“Yeah?”
“Mhm. Th-this one hurts the most.” You admit, placing a hand over the right side of your torso.”
“Can I see?” Gareth questions, voice soft as he reaches for the hem of your shirt.
At his question you finally look up, glancing around the room before settling on his face. He can’t help but notice how panicked you looked, and he worries just how bad it is.
Although nervous, you eventually give him a short, soft nod. If anyone needs to check it out, you’d rather it be Gareth. You know he’ll be careful to not hurt you any more than you are.
You feel him slide his hand over your hip, palm warm against your bare skin as he tucks his fingers under the hem of your shirt. From there, he lets his palm just barely trail over your skin as he lifts the material, revealing your side to the group.
“Jesus Christ.”
“Shit!”
“I’m gonna-“
Even though the guys are voicing their own shock, all you focus on is Gareth’s. With him finally focused on something other than your face, you find yourself studying his.
For the first time since entering the room you take notice of just how worried he is, and you can’t help how your heart aches. Aside from worry, though, you can see a plethora of other emotions swirling in his eyes - anger, hurt, softness.
“Y/n…peanut. This, this isn’t good.” Gareth comments, voice soft even though you would’ve expected him to shout some expletive like the others.
Nodding, you can’t help the small hitch of your breath as he gently caresses the purple center of the bruise with his thumb.
“Gareth…take her to the hospital. Get her looked at.” Eddie comments, drawing the boy’s attention from your marred side.
“Yeah. Yeah, okay. You guys…?”
“We’ll hold off on the campaign until next week. This is more important.”
“Okay. Uh, thank you.” Gareth thanks, sending Eddie a curt nod before turning back to you.
“Let’s go, yeah? We’ll make sure nothing’s too banged up, okay?”
There’s no stopping the small smile that grows on your lips as you nod, tangling your arms out in front of you as he places a hand to your hip.
He is so going to hurt whoever did this to you, but they better hope you’re not too hurt aside from the way-too-big bruises. If there’s anything seriously wrong, there’s a very good chance they’ll be making a trip to the hospital as well.
No one is going to hurt you like this - on top of toying with your emotions - and get away with it. He’s not going to let that happen. Not when you mean everything in the world to him.

TMNTposting, Michelangelo edition:
I still have favs, but I would love nothing more than to talk about the boy in orange. Michelangelo is such an interesting character, development-wise in the series. While Leos and Donnie's usually end up developing more negatively (like the emo breakdowns and all that) Michelangelo and Raph seem to always be the ones that make positive growth. And I love it. We love to see that here.
All Michelangelo's are pretty silly and goofy. They're the most laid back of all the turtles, mostly due to the "youngest brother" dynamic he has with the rest of the turtles, Rise being the most obvious one of all. With 87 Michelangelo, he's more of a chill party dude with an unyeilding optimism despite the circumstances in the later "Red Sky" seasons of TMNT 87. He's the only one of the turtles who genuinely still saw the good in things, and tried to revisit the old dynamic they had even though there was a massive hate campaign against them, and getting double mutated...among many other things. This dude, this little guy, was able to keep a steady girlfriend through all this which is insane (and adorable).
Some of the other cute things I remember about him is:
-he remembers their time being regular turtles.
-he normally sides with Leonardo whenever theres an argument (usually started by Donatello)
-the little alien star child in season 7 could have destroyed the planet but he still decided to be nice and comfort him anyways.
Also random fun factoid about the memory of being a regular turtle. Both he and Donatello or Raphael have mentioned before they spent half their life at the bottom of a glass bowl, in the pet shop. Which either implies they lived in a tiny fishbowl for a really long time, or they were really young when they mutated. The implication seems to lean more towards the latter, and the turtles mutated straight into being teenagers. It's entirely likely the 87 turtles are technically young kids stuck in the bodies of teenagers. Enjoy the nightmares thinking about that.
Now for 03 Mikey. I want to chefs kiss the writers because this series was when they started the "kinda annoying younger brother" trope for him, but somehow still managed to handle his development with absolute grace. The Battle Nexus arcs are some of my favorites in TMNT 03, personally. Both because I'm a sucker for 03 Leosagi, but also because they showed everyone just how smart Mikey can be, and that he is perfectly capable of handling a fight on his own. He's been named Battle Nexus champion, not once, but twice. The first time was more circumstance, but don't let that distract you from the fact he outsmarted Raph in a fight and still won the tournament.
And the second time? That time, he was cursed so any injury he sustained couldn't be healed and he still won! The second time was entirely on his skill and fighting alone and he won.
Despite rubbing it in his brothers faces, he genuinely didn't believe he was capable of winning the Battle Nexus tournament and I LOVE the writers for giving me that. 03 Mikey is a loveable menace.
fun things I love about 03 Mikey:
-he literally saves Klunk because he liked her vibes. on Christmas. good for him.
-despite how often they bicker, he's Raph's best friend.
-the whole thing about him (and his brothers) helping the homeless people in the Garbageman episode.
I don't really have much to say about 2012 Mikey tbh. He sure is a guy who exists. It is cool he survived in Dimension X for a few months on his own though. Good for him.
And finally, I'll leave the Rise ramblings to the other TMNT blogs out there. Because everything I say is something someone else definitely has before. And I mostly want to make these posts for the people out there who never watched the older TMNT series.

It could be worse, right ? Part 4
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4
@darkwitchoferie @kodaik97 @flustratedcas @didntwant2come @dreamlandfo @bidisastersworld @grtwdsmwhr
They had ended their campaign a bit late, later than he usually does end things but since it was almost break (and that they were locked anyways) he didn’t see the need to end early. So after talking for a few hours, they were all tired and really wanted to sleep. They left the pile of blankets how it was since it was comfortable enough to lay against it and better than the floor in any case but they did take two or three blankets out of it to cover themselves. On one side, Gareth and Jeff were out like lights pretty quickly. Eddie himself was just laying there in the middle, eyes closed, waiting for sleep to take him.
He really hoped he was subtle in watching Harrington on the other side. He had been intrigued when all three freshmen swarmed up close to Steve. He half expected the man to shove them away. But he didn’t. He readjusted himself, letting the kids lean on him like he was a pillow. Dustin had rested his head on his shoulder while Lucas had lied down on Dustin and at some point spread himself on Steve too. Even Mike was tucked on the man's side while he petted his hair. He had thought Harrington had fallen asleep too, when he did not move for a time, eye closed. Then he opened his mouth, making him jump.
“ You should take a picture, it will last longer.” he whispered softly.
“Sorry.”
Opening his eyes, Steve turned his eyes to him, putting his chin on Mike's head. Smiling he said.
“I don’t mind. You know, I didn’t lie earlier when I said I wanted to talk to you about something and it was not about being locked in here.” he said not really looking at him.
Intrigued, he turned on his side, arm tucked under his head. All his attention was turned to the other man, still avoiding looking him in the eyes.
“Oh ? And what can this humble bard do for his majesty ?”
“ It’s, hum, yeah” was he blushing? Oh, my god, he was. “ About your game. Dungeon and Doofus.” he said smirking.
“Dungeon and Dragon.”
“Yeah. The kids have been playing it for ages and they tried to explain it to me but you probably know how they are.” he laughed when he saw Eddie pull a face, he knew exactly how they were. “ They tend to talk over each other for the slightest disagreement and they get sidetracked everytime. I know it bum them out when I still don’t get it. They’re not going to say it but I see it. And I want to make them happy. They deserve to be kids, you know.” He was so fond of those kids, it was adorable.
“ Where is this going, Stevie.” he asked softly.
“ I want you to explain it to me. And I want to surprise them. I want to join one of your games.”
He was half on his elbows, surprised.
“What ?”
“Pipe it down, Munson, you’re going to wake them up.” he said, frowning, warning him to not wake them up.
“Wait, wait, wait.” he said, crawling closer. “You want me, Eddie “The Freak”, to teach you  DnD and to play just for pleasing a bunch of kids ?”
“Don’t make fun of me, Munson. I know I’m dumb but just say no if you don’t want to and get on with it.”
“Hold up. I never said that. You’re not dumb, I don’t know you that well, but I do know that. You’re not the one flunking highschool for one.And two, I would be happy to lure you to the dark side, Big Boy.”
“C’mere.” He said, patting the space beside him, getting up to get his bag. Steve detangled himself from the three boys, doing his best to not wake them up and covering them with a blanket. He sat down beside Eddie looking at the books he was holding on his lap. Leaning back on the blankets pile, he gave him the books draping his arm behind Steve, his hand almost touching his shoulder. “Let’s start with stats and classes…”
If you had told him just yesterday that he would be here, cuddling Steve Harrington and explaining DnD to him, he would have never believed that. And he was enjoying it, Steve was attentive and he always liked talking about DnD. At some point he felt a weight on his shoulder, looking he felt the hair tickle his nose before he saw the hair. Steve had fallen asleep, breathing softly -and he’s pretty sure he heard a faint snoring- his head falling on the other’s shoulder. He smiled, taking the books out of the other hand he put it down somewhere without much thought, slowly laying back Steve’s head falling from his shoulder to his chest. He pulled the blanket he had snatched earlier on them, he looked at his watch : passed 4. He unconsciously started to pet Steve’s hair, humming happily.
He could get used to it.

hi jsyk watching your hype and excitement after the new short story is really funny (affectionate/positive)!!! ur excitement for s5 and love of the show is so clear
oh my gosh thank you this is so sweet!! it's the funniest thing because literally every time I want something specific as hell from this show, but lovingly put my clown makeup and assume I'm not going to get it, or that it's a fun prediction but doesn't have to pan out, but then
Tumblr media
I either end up getting that exact thing or an even better variant of it??
Like pre-S1 I noticed Rayla's face markings looked like tears, so I hoped we'd see her cry at one point bc I thought it'd be a nice visual parallel? And then 1x09 gave it to me. Going into S2 I hoped for Callum to get over Claudia and for a Rayllum tag, and then [gestures] All That Happened. Even before S3 aired with the "written in the stars" skit I'd noticed the slight dark-lightness theme running through Rayllum's arc and thought it'd be a nice consistency, but I didn't think it'd be a Big Theme, even if as soon as the S4 intro came out I was like "yeah that 'south star' shit is coming back" and well... Gestures to the entire ass "stargazing" clip just between the two of them. The way post-S3 I assumed S4 would be about Callum flying too close to the sun magic wise, being terrified of Aaravos invading this mind, that Aaravos would get out in S5, and that S5 would deal more with Rayla's coin stuff? Ezran as the thematic Witness / Embodiment of Justice? Everything about Claudia's arc?? Chef's kiss
My first post-S3 theory back in 2019 was a "Rayla and Ezran disagree with Callum caught in the middle, leaving to a broyals conflict" wish, gave up on it when TTM hppened because it seemed like we were going in a different direction, campaigned for 2+ years for Callum to do something Fucked Up for Rayla, and like... now I'm going to get both things, presumably that I have desperately wanted/hoped for??
And then there's like, all the things I didn't even know I wanted that TDP just decided to give me anyway?? An Angor Rot villain variant in Kim'Dael? Motherfucking pirates? The game motif becoming a chess motif? Wanting a trio variant sitting around a campfire scene in S4 (that we haven't had since S1) and S4 gave me one and S5's already given me one and there might be More?
I've talked before about how healing TDP has been for me when my prior two fandoms source materials back to back were very disappointing and shoddily put together / majorly side lined their disabled characters / characters of colour (who were also my favourite characters) but like
You ever watch or something, and it feels like it was Made For You, in a way? Like tailor made for like, your interests or preferences or character archetypes, or whatever? That's always how TDP has felt for me in everything it's released and every time it's a beautiful, wonderful experience and a surprise. It would be hard not to be so excited and positive about it, and I cannot wait to continue to be catered to. They never miss!

critical role c3 ep86 spoilers
ok look I know I said I might make a side blog but I haven’t decided yet and tonight’s episode made me lose my mind AND NONE OF MY FRIENDS ARE CAUGHT UP
YALL- OH MY GOD! So, I literally just yesterday got to the halfway point of c2 for the first ever time and I cannot tell you the scream and excitement and happiness I felt when Jester did sending! Like- this is my first time watching a c3 episode with actually knowing the characters from past campaigns! Like I love them, don’t get me wrong when Beau and Caleb first showed up I lost my shit same with Keyleth and everyone from c1 (I do have a soft spot for keyleth tho) BUT LIKE JESTER ?!?! MY LOVELY ?!?! and so now I understand how everyone else felt when Caleb and Beau and all of them showed up in c3 for the first time and it was such a wonderful thing to feel.
God tonight’s episode was so good. I really love when they sit and talk more. Like Laudna talking to Delilah was amazing. I have so many questions about that. I’m terrified for Laudna but at the same time I want *more* so much more- It’s the edging into “madness” into that power that makes you want it all. I don’t want her getting hurt, none of us do, but I’m so intrigued with what *could* happen. Hearing Delilah bring up Imogen as-well! Using her and what she means to Laudna like oh my GOD the feelings coursing through my veins right now are insane.
I also half expected when the flare up happened a “best orgasm of my life joke” but maybe that just me—
ANYWAYS
This episode really did have everything. It started out pretty strong (with all the jokes lmao) and continued to be fun. The spooky vibes AND FUCKING BOATY AND ROPEY 😭 like these are the exact reasons why I stay up till 3am for these people.
Honestly I just wanted to scream about Jester. I don’t know if I have anything actually important to say- other then I with it was Thursday ???

Sentinels of the Multiverse Definitive Edition: Spite
Tumblr media
Okay…. so post-game report.
Spite in the prior edition is a fight I tend not to like running because it tends to be a long, drawn out slog. So I've held off on trying him in the new edition even though they've worked hard to clean up a lot of decks.
This was the team I took on this fight:
Tumblr media
And I some what unwisely took them to Rook City
Tumblr media
Anyway… this time, the game took me four rounds… but admittedly… I got lucky.
Spite got one round of damage off (because villains always take first turn) and then he was unable to deal damage for the next two rounds because Alpha kept him Hamstrung (darn pesky reporters turning out to be werewolves) and peeked at his plans (cards).
Expat went right into dealing the hurt out by power of gun (dang French-Canadian gun-enthusiasts)
Wraith used the clues Alpha dug up to cancel some of his plans and started digging into her utility belt right away for some throwing razors and targetting computers. (dang billionaire vigilantes)
Setback's bad luck kept feeding Expat ammo and guns, getting attention directed at him, and upseting some of Spite's ongoing set-up (dang supportive boyfriends who are probability vortices)
And that left Mr. Fixer to get all zen and martial arts up with his Hoist Chain. (dang old man martial artists mechanics)
Rook City tried a couple of smear campaigns, but we kept that under control, though Fixer had bop a racketeer upside the head just before we got the serial killer under control by power of werewolf, gun, throwing knives, luck, and martial arts.
Okay basic notes here.
The three biggest changes to Spite:
His enhancement drugs are no longer indestructible.
Bystanders are no longer sent to a safe haven.
His flip-side is no longer a permanent change.
So, let's talk about Bystanders first.
Tumblr media
There are three varieties as shown above, two copies of each. Now, when they take damage, you can redirect that damage to a hero. But, as long as they remain in play, they also give the heroes a benefit. This can be healing, peeking ahead at a deck, or drawing a card.
Spite's end phase has him dealing damage to the Lowest HP target, meaning the Lost Child is generally going to be the one in the most danger at any given time. But this did immediately put me in a nervous mind because I foresaw soaking up a lot of damage to keep the bystanders protected.
The drugs now being destructible less extreme but significant. Spite's drug cards being indestructible was one of the most fun draining aspects of the old villain deck, along with how incredibly difficult it is to protect Bystanders from being turned into a bloody smear.
Now, it's still harrowing (well, my initial reaction was this, but you'll see why this particular game I didn't have much issue later) because you're draining your life to keep Bystanders alive when Spite is capable of dishing out a large amount of damage. But it feels a bit more like you being in a bad spot and having to make choices rather than just having the rug constantly pulled from under you.
But the drugs often just make it next to impossible to do anything... at all. You feel constantly paralyzed and unable to do anything about them.
The next thing is Spite's flip-side:
Tumblr media
In the prior edition, once Spite flipped, that was it. He stopped playing cards. instead just dealing damage when he would otherwise do so. And there was no way to flip him back.
Now, he does increased damage, but there is a built in countdown based on how many tokens he built up on his other form. The minimum is 3 tokens, which is when he flips, but it's possible for him to play a card that adds tokens to him. In my game, he had 8 tokens when he flipped.
This has both gameplay and thematic benefits in that there is now a strategy to the idea of whether or not you want to keep Spite here or push him quicker back to his Slasher side and this also represents his body burning through the effects of his enhancement drugs.
Also note that the drugs themselves cause him to burn through his tokens faster, which feeds in again to the question of whether you want a brief bit of pain that you think you can weather or else a prolonged, but less dangerous period due to the choice of leaving the drugs in play or destroying them right away.
Now, let's move on to the team I chose.
Tumblr media
In first position, I chose werewolf reporter Tabitha Taft, aka Alpha. I chose the reporter variant of the character specifically for her power. The base version of Alpha is more what you'd expect from a werewolf: dealing damage and getting more wolfy. (see below)
Tumblr media
Instead, I wanted the ability to look at Spite's deck and see what he was going to do, and maybe determine some ordering. I didn't end up using this power for that as much as I wanted, either because of opportunity (you need to bury an Aspect to do it) or need, but I did still find it useful.
This was also a BIG risk, because when I chose this character, I did not understand how Bystanders worked... namely that they are now targets with low HP. And given how Tabitha's Aspects work, it was possible that she'd end up targeting the Bystanders herself and doing more damage to my team.
Tumblr media
As you can see, as soon as Alpha has 3 Aspects in play, she starts targeting the lowest HP character on the field. Fortunately, by the time this happened, Spite was on 1 HP and thus WAS the target.
As it turns out, I drew Full Moon first round. As a Suddenly! card that immediately played whether I wanted it to or not. This brought Lupine Senses out giving her another tool to watch Spite's deck and control it. One that didn't require me to use either a power or card play.
Tumblr media
So, Tabitha was doing the job I took her for, which was spying out Spite's plans so I could cut them off. However, it turns out the thing that really turned my luck in this game was the two copies of Hamstring I drew in her starting hand.
Tumblr media
This allowed me to RUIN Spite for two whole rounds during which time I was able to set up and dealing damage.
He could not deal damage, so he could not even threaten Bystanders, much less damage my team.
This brings us to the next member of the team.
Tumblr media
Expat is one of the decks that has seen a lot of redesign. In the prior edition, she is still one of my favorite characters, but her deck is a bit sluggish and prone to stalling. Not so much anymore. I've played her deck a couple of times now and she moves quite well. She also now has a lot of team-lead support card shenanigans going on.
Granted, I didn't use her for support in this game. I used her for gun, mostly shotgun, as it came into her hand by the end of the first round (more on that later). But I also used a bit of Assault Rifle since it now gives the ability to give someone else a card draw.
Tumblr media
By the end of the game I did have all her guns in play. (Setback's doing) I didn't use Pride and Prejudice (if I had a global damage bonus to all heroes I would have as that global would have applied twice then) because in the situation it was doing the same as the shotgun. I didn't use the Modified SMG because it would have targeted the Bystanders and that was counter productive. I DID use the Assault Rifle because of the "up to 3 targets" language meaning I didn't have to chose more and it gave an ally a card draw.
I kept her in Ammo pretty constantly. This was both due to her own cards and (yes) Setback. (Supportive boyfriend is supportive)
She did the vast majority of my damage (as a note, I did early on forget base Spite had damage reduction, so at some point I healed him for 10 due to some of my people using irreducible damage.)
This brings us to the next team member.
Tumblr media
I went with Detective Wraith. Basic Wraith would still be very useful for protecting Bystanders from plinking damage, but I specifically had a plan for using Alpha to look at Spite's upcoming card and then use Wraith to remove cards I didn't like.
As it turns out, once Lupine Senses came out, Alpha was able to handle both sides of that plan without even using her Power, but it was nice to have the option. Wraith has also gotten an update, but her function in this game played within the lines of her past edition's playstyle. Or rather, one of her playstyles.
Wraith is character who can serve many roles. In this case, I used her for a mix of deck control (she did get used that in the first round) and damage dealing since both her Razor Ordanance and Targeting Computer hit the game early.
Though I did benefit from three changed cards:
Tumblr media
Utility Belt - has been improved from just granting an extra Power use to also giving a power to deck-dive or extra card play.
Grappling Hook - has been shifted from it's second half being "may draw a card" to "may draw 1 card or play 1 card". Some might note the first half now reads as "Destroy Environment or Ongoing" but Environment cards now have ongoing as a tag so it can still be used to remove troublesome environment cards, more on that later.
Smoke bombs - changed from a redirect damage to just blanket causing Heroes to take less damage while also improving Wraith's damage... but it now only lasts a single round.
Still, like Expat, she was mostly on dealing lots of damage since she got her big weapon and targeting computer out.
And that comes to the next character, Expat's beau, the golden retriever dude of this set:
Tumblr media
Setback is a bit of an airhead with massively good intentions and a loveable personality. He has some moderately superhuman physicality, but his only innate power is the absurd effect he has on probability. His luck is never mild, it is either extremely bad or extremely good. And this is how he got his enhanced physique actually:
Loses job and has to pick up a janitor job in the meantime.
The janitor job is with an evil corp fronting for evil scientist person who sticks him in an experiment that has killed everyone so far.
He actually survives and gets properly enhanced.
Anyway, I'm going a bit into his premise and story because the game does his absurd luck very well. First note that his basic power is just play a card off the top of his deck... blind.
Allow me to show you the first card I played as a result of that.
Tumblr media
And I absolutely pushed all three of those card plays resulting in this:
Tumblr media
Among several other cards. And yes... I was absolutely using that to feed Expat ALL the guns and ammo. Flavor win go!
So the way his cards work is he has Unlucky and Lucky cards. The Unlucky cards have a downside and a good side. Mostly the downside keeps happening while the good side is only immediately useful. But then you can play a Lucky card which gives a benefit and then allows you to destroy up to 3 Unlucky cards for increased benefit.
I had some decent damage dealing in there, but honestly, I was mostly going with blind card plays. I even played Push Your Luck on its own deliberately once. So I didn't particularly have a plan for him. He was just feeding other people card plays and soaking up damage for them.
It was really useful and let me set up Expat very quickly as well as get things moving for other characters pretty fast.
And that brings us to the last member of this team.
Tumblr media
Mr Fixer is another very powerful character from the original edition who can be hard to set up and can also stall or feel meh if your luck is bad. He's now been given some easier ways to search through his deck for Styles and Tools.
Depending on which Styles and Tools you set him up with, he can serve a number of roles. In my case, I was using the Hoist Chain and Alternating Tiger Claw. The Tiger Claw was just the first style I drew and never had another turn up. But the Hoist Chain was a deliberate choice and Harmony was something that Setback called up via his absurd luck.
Tumblr media
Where as the first two rounds were about Alpha shutting Spite down entirely, round three was about Wraith and Mr. Fixer keeping his damage reduced to pretty much zero. In his last turn he got two attacks in applying a total of -2 to Spite's damage, with Wraith's smoke adding another -1 dealt to heroes for a total of -3.
He did this by a combination of his base power and the Charge one shot card.
Tumblr media
And that's the villain and all the heroes so let's move on to the environment.
Tumblr media
Rook City from the first edition has something of a reputation of being one of the harshest environment decks. It the past it only had two allies for the heroes and all the rest of the deck was varying degrees of nasty.
The deck now has three allies for the heroes (one of whom used to be a bystander in Spite's deck). In my game four cards came up.
Tumblr media
Tony Taurus showed up first and helped me get rid of one of Spite's ongoings. I unfortunately lost access to him due to Setback's card plays destroying an environment card when he was the only target. Anti-Hero Sentiment then showed up after him but I was able to remove it early. Media Pressure was revealed and discarded via Lost Child's bystander benefit so never entered play and Ambitious Racketeer ended up getting backhanded by Mister Fixer when he showed up right at the end.
I've looked through Rook City's other cards a bit and yeah, it has a very bleak outlook in a lot of cases.
Overall.
Spite is no longer a slog, plays well, works thematically and gameplay.
Rook City is mostly the same with the Smear effects being a new wrinkle I only saw a hint of here.
Expat, Mister Fixer, and Setback's redesigns work very well.
Reporter Alpha digs through her deck so fast and I just got lucky with her. So extremely lucky.
Wraith still plays much the same though with some of her weaker cards tightened up.

I’d love more of Louis on social media, like the Q&A and fan challenges ideas the previous anon mentioned. And I agree LTHQ is dropping the ball in lots of ways. But I also think Louis not doing social media in the same way, for example, that Niall does ultimately comes down to Louis just not wanting to do it. It seems to me (and I know I might be totally wrong!) like he’s measured the pros of how social media could advance his career against the cons of having to do something he doesn’t enjoy, and he’s decided his dislike of doing social media outweighs the benefits. Maybe LTHQ isn’t doing a good job of pitching it to him, but with his experience in the industry, it’s weird they should have to. And of course there’s still so much more they could do on social media without even needing his direct involvement.
But even if he’s decided not to put a lot of direct effort into expanding his fan base - and that’s obviously his call to make, and we might all make the same decision if we were him and knew all the considerations involved - I’m still surprised and disappointed he doesn’t do it just as a way to engage with current fans. 😔 I think he’s authentic when he talks about his relationship with his fans, and more social media would be such a great way to connect with us. Doesn’t have to be anything formal! And it’s especially a great way to give back to fans who can’t get to a show. I always appreciate your take on things - am I really off base? Thanks for your patience with newbie asks! 🙂
hi! sorry I'm answering late but I was busy earlier
when I talked about fun promo I was thinking more of things like YouTube interviews/late night shows with games etc (I have been campaigning for the celebrity bake off thing for YEARS) and fun photoshoots, things that keep fans engaged, that give us content and also insight in a different side of louis in a more relaxed environment.
I think its really important to make the fan experience actually fun in general but especially with louis bc there are so many things to get frustrated about that nobody can really change like the radio blacklisting or the close contact with sides of the fandom that hate each other so its crucial imo to offer fun distractions and in general to keep fans interested! this is a sort of hobby for people right? and nobody wants an hobby that's not enjoyable!
I do think louis doesn't like social media and honestly it's fine like it doesn't have to be the end all be all of everything, and a good a social media manager can work on it anyways (regular posting especially in promo season would help him get more followers/not lose them and it wouldn't be so hard).
but like, we already know radio is out, award shows and other events don't invite him/he doesn't go, he doesn't do festivals bc "they don't call him" (although I think it's more like he has a shitty booking agent), he doesn't do collaborations, and then if we cut out photoshoots and social media and YouTube stuff too what is left?? like genuinely we're just left with the usual rehearsed print interviews with the same questions and answers and then the classic promo interviews on TV that louis doesn't even like doing bc they make him anxious!! like how is that productive in any way! neither him or us are actually happy ! also it would be great for him to be seen by the gp in an actual happy light instead of the "hope after tragedy/difficulties " light!
look, this is totally speculation bc I don't know him, but I do think that louis is not comfortable with/scared of uncontrollable environment and of engaging with funny things, imo bc for years people have been either laughing at him and insulting him or analyzing his every gesture to spot "gayness" or whatever. nobody who has been subjected to that for years will remain unscathed, it's like putting a plant in a dark room without water and asking why is it not giving flowers.
but the problem with comfort zones is that they can very very easily become our own limits, we think they're keeping the world out but really they're just trapping us in. if u leave someone in the dark too long their eyes get adjusted to it and then they won't get out bc the light hurts them !
what I'm saying is that when I say louis needs a new manager/team it's bc I think he needs someone who won't just settle for the bare minimum necessary to keep louis happy, he needs someone with ideas and ambitions and the guts to push him a little out of his comfort zone and to encourage his growth! his team is way too lazy and unimaginative and they're just happy with what they have now , and for some reason don't seem to realize that things are always changing and u can't expect to keep something forever without taking proper care of it
it's sad bc louis works so hard on what he does but then it all gets washed away into nothingness and he ends up blaming himself all the time, I just want that cycle to be broken
somewhat related: I also think that his story/image/persona whatever you want to call it won't quite be complete/make sense/be truly compelling until he actually gives us the bigger picture, like he always talks about the difficulties he's faced but what are they exactly? who's the enemy? (a good story needs a good enemy just as much as it needs a good hero!) ,he was insecure and lost after the band but why? what made him feel that way? he's always telling up about the "after" and the consequences but we never quite understand the before
us fans know the answer to these questions or at least we've tried to come up with them but to people who don't have access to all that background knowledge and who are just checking him out it's not so clear, and a story like that can truly be efficient if it stops being superficial imo
so I'm curious to see how that has been explored in the documentary and I really hope that it won't be the same few things we already know but actually the real underbelly of the story (within the legal confines that I'm sure he has to respect rip)
