I see my psychiatrist tomorrow. I don’t want to go, but I have to since I booked a ride and can’t cancel.
I hope it goes okay.

Making a doctor’s appointment life hack
You know what the best way to schedule an appointment with a medical professional is? Phone them when the office is closed and leave a message!
No seriously, if you have any sort of anxiety involving making calls like this, this is the absolute perfect strategy, because you can:
Figure out everything you need to tell them ahead of time (name, what you’re phoning about, what you need help with, contact info)
Write this out into a script
Phone the office
Read your script verbatim
Hang up and let them phone back next time they’re open
I know it sounds like this is adding an extra level of stress to the process, because now they’re going to call you, but, the thing is? When they do call, all they’ll do is figure out when you want to schedule your appointment for and maybe ask for another detail or two. All the heavy lifting on your end is already done, and they’ll have done a chunk of the work they need to do before phoning you. Even if you miss their call and have to phone them back, this still remains true, and the basic conversation you’ll get as a result will be unchanged.

Just because you’ve had a very bad experience with a doctor/healthcare professional, it doesn’t mean all of them will be the same way. There are professionals who care for people and want to help as best they can. You should be looking out for your own health, so please don’t assume everyone will be equally as bad and end up avoiding appointments. Not everyone is the same, and you should feel free to show up to your next appointment asserting your boundaries, and if that doesn’t work, maybe you should go with a friend for support, and if they don’t feel like helping you tell them you’d like their refusal in writing, or if they are insisting on making decisions you know already don’t work from previous experiences, again, ask for that in writing, and for a referral. People shouldn’t be expected to just put up with anything because they have a health problem or a disability. We’re still people, after all.

Hate that I’m at an age where every hairdresser, dental hygienist, etc. asks me if I’m seeing anyone…as if finding someone whose beliefs, schedule, personality, and location are compatible with yours (all while being attractive AND attracted to you) isn’t like. a Herculean task.

The trans experience of getting lucky with a new primary care provider who doesn't care about your transness or transition so long as you're getting the proper care
Manifesting this for every trans person because I finally felt like a normal human being going to a doctor

i hate pre-appointment anxiety. i have my first appointment with a specialist tomorrow but... it's up in london. it's fine because it'll only take an hour to get there but i hate central london so much. means that not only am i worried about the appointment but also being in london. it's way too busy, loud and bright and i don't have my prescription sunglasses to block :/

Aro culture is debating for YEARS if trauma made you aro or if you always were. Then you get informed about Avoidant Personality Disorder and now you’re sitting here like.. I’m aro and have a personality disorder?????????????? Because that makes a lot more sense. I do yearn for connection because of the disorder but I do not feel consistent romantic attraction 😳😳 it’s like bearly there at all like an incense that keeps going out.

hint: it's because I didn't meet any new people

I know this is The Ibuprofen Website and everyone jokes about it, but you guys think it’s safe to take it every day for the last two weeks (genuine question by the way)?

Why did no one tell me that apartment hunting with anxiety will have you feel like throwing up 90% of the time you actually get an interaction with a potential landlord

the only thing worse than the pre-tattoo anxiety is the fact that you're supposed to eat before the appointment.. so i'm stuck trying to force myself to eat while literally nauseous with anxiety 🥴
