You know those fics where Catelyn Tully Stark is depicted as this evil bitch who disrespect the North, its people, its culture, its Gods? That the Northmen hate her because she's one of the southern ladies throughout centuries that become the Lady of Winterfell and believe in the Faith of the Seven? That she somehow always insists for her children to stay away from their direwolves till the end? Where, I ask? Where tf those craps ever written in canon?! WHERE?!
Because I tell you I'm reading A Storm of Swords right now, and I find nothing of those shits. She's always courteous to the Northmen, even those who are huge-rawdy-closer to wildling type and don't give a shit about propriety like Greatjon Umber. She doesn't look down on Maege Mormont who fights just as good as men like those crap fics suggest. When Robb comes back to Riverrun from his campaign in Westerlands and they learn about what she's done, Maege sympathizes with Cat and tells her that she would've done the same if it were her daughters that's been taken. The Greatjon lifts her in the air and tells her some optimistic motivational words about how Robb gonna beat Jaime again. What else, she's horrified when Robb tells her that Grey Wind is not allowed inside the keep because he doesn't like Jeyne Westerling's uncle. She REMINDS Robb that Grey Wind is part of him, and BELIEVES that the Old Gods has sent the direwolves for her children to be their protectors. A chill literally "went through her" when she believes that Jeyne's uncle is not good for her son, all because Grey Wind also doesn't trust him (or as Robb says, "doesn't like the smell of him). She has to beg Robb to send Jeyne's uncle away.
All I'm saying is that, I won't give any Catelyn haters a minute of my life if I can help it. Just say you are a misogynist and be done with it. The fandom really hates her all because she refuses to mother a child that is not her responsiblity, that she owes nothing of. They hate her because she's just trying to save her remaining children--two little girls whom in the eyes of her eldest son worth next to nothing. Robb refuses to save his sisters, and when his mother takes matter in her own hands, they condemn her, as if they wouldn't have done the same thing in her position. It's so easy to see her as the obstacle to Robb's campaign, yet people tend to forget that any decent parent would do the exact same thing. Especially when ASOIAF universe is filled with murdered children.

Can antis like, keep away from Daenerys please?
I'm so tired of seeing people writing out crap that Daenerys will be the villain, Jon is better, she is mad, calling her Danielle, yada yada. Just say you don't like her (because she is ultimately better than your fave) and go.
I'm also tired of seeing people giving the Starks (especially Sansa) her traits. I've seen edits of people making Sansa a Targ, people talking about how she'll get Daenerys' dragons, that Jon will kill Dany for her, etc.
Just keep Daenerys' name out of your mouth if you hate her and can't stand that she is strong, independent, and has an amazing character arc. A majority of Daenerys fans don't like other asoiaf characters, but you hardly see any of them going on a tangent about how much they hate that character. Usually it's us Dany fans defending anti hate against Dany and also defending antis hate on Dany to prop up their own fave (mainly Sansa).
I heavily have a high disdain for show!Sansa (she's alright in the books, not my fave but she's much better compared to the garbage that is her show character). But I don't go out of my way to hate on her, diss her character, write pointless metas about her going "mad", "evil", or "dark". Nor do I see any other Dany fan doing so. We don't hate on Sansa to prop up Dany. We don't give Dany character traits of other characters/Sansa. We don't speculate about how she'll die or get killed or manipulated by another man. It's disgusting.
It's also disgusting seeing anti hate towards Arya. Arya is my second favorite female character in asoiaf. She isn't ugly, she isn't crazy or some violent murderer, she isn't going to be permanently warged into Nymeria and become Sansa's; nor is she going to become Sansa's assigned assassin to kill all her enemies while Sansa and Jon live in lala land. It's not going to happen.
It is so disgusting how a vast majority of Arya and Dany fans don't do half the things their antis/Sansa stans do, yet they go out of their way to bash these wonderful characters to prop up their own fave or to get them out of the way for Sansa or Jon (mainly Jon fans who bash Daenerys to prop Jon up and cheer Jon for killing her).
We can talk about our faves without bashing another character, making metas about them that don't even follow the text, and just being outright nasty.
Do better. Just keep away from Daenerys and Arya.

What do you think of Starklings' reaction to Sansa divulging Ned's plans to Cersei? Will there be anger or resentment or forgiveness? How do you think George is going handle this plot?
Ned divulged Ned's plans to Cersei.
Littlefinger divulged Ned's plans to Cersei.
Sansa? Asked the queen if she could be allowed to stay in KL because her father had zero effort to spare to try and explain to her why he was ripping her away from the place had had sacrificed her wolf for. Then was grilled about the name of the ship they were going to take North.
GRRM might use this detail in his Stark sister conflict resolution plot, as a misconception to overcome. Seems like the kind of "every lie contains a kernel of truth" bit of information he likes to twist and exploit.
Key word: lie.
And really, the only Starkling who would actually fall for that lie? Arya. The others lack her negative bias, Bran likely watched the whole thing live on TreeVision, and Jon has his own Ned anger issues to help him understand just why Sansa did what she did.
It's going to be nice seeing Arya overcome her bias and "look with her eyes", which was Syrio's final lesson about perception of fact v. prejudice.
Satisfying, don't you think?

Antis act like Sansa was too dumb or selfish to see joffery true colours when A was smart enough to notice Lannisters were bad news. The trident incident was enough to think that Lannisters are bad news. Yet neither Ned nor A think what would happen if Sansa get married to Joffery. Ned even warn A that KL is not safe neither people are so good. But not for once they think how would Sansa going to deal with Lannisters. Atleast in GOT, A did ask Ned for why he was marrying Sansa with Joffery.
Hello Anon,
Aryaaaa? Smart? When? Where? LOL.
Arya didn't notice that Lannisters were bad news.
If anything Ary* had a crush on Joffrey (Remember there was a tumblr post about how Sansa's first crush was a prince: Joffrey and Ary@'s was poor Gendry and they talked sh*t about how Sansa is a classist b*tch but in CANON, Sansa's first crush was a black brother Waymar Royce- a third son- and Ary*'s first crush was actually the evil prince Joffrey... anyway).
Jeyne glanced over to make certain that Septa Mordane was not listening. Myrcella said something then, and the septa laughed along with the rest of the ladies.
"We were talking about the prince," Sansa said, her voice soft as a kiss.
Arya knew which prince she meant: Joffrey, of course. The tall, handsome one. Sansa got to sit with him at the feast. Arya had to sit with the little fat one. Naturally.
A Game of Thrones - Arya I
Arya found Joffrey handsome and she knew that sitting next to him is a huge thing. But she of course hadn't have such chance when perfect Sansa was there.
It wasn't fair. Sansa had everything. Sansa was two years older; maybe by the time Arya had been born, there had been nothing left. Often it felt that way. Sansa could sew and dance and sing. She wrote poetry. She knew how to dress. She played the high harp and the bells. Worse, she was beautiful. Sansa had gotten their mother's fine high cheekbones and the thick auburn hair of the Tullys. Arya took after their lord father. Her hair was a lusterless brown, and her face was long and solemn. Jeyne used to call her Arya Horseface, and neigh whenever she came near. It hurt that the one thing Arya could do better than her sister was ride a horse. Well, that and manage a household. Sansa had never had much of a head for figures. If she did marry Prince Joff, Arya hoped for his sake that he had a good steward.
A Game of Thrones - Arya I
Look at her believing that Sansa is not good enough for a prince because she is not good with numbers. You know who is better with numbers? Ary*! She is implying that she would be a better queen than her sister. Yeah sure... you can't even recognize the Northern houses' sigils but sure.
Ary* is simply jealous.
“Arya started it,” Sansa said quickly, anxious to have the first word. “She called me a liar and threw an orange at me and spoiled my dress, the ivory silk, the one Queen Cersei gave me when I was betrothed to Prince Joffrey. She hates that I’m going to marry the prince. She tries to spoil everything, Father, she can’t stand for anything to be beautiful or nice or splendid.”
“Enough, Sansa.” Lord Eddard’s voice was sharp with impatience.
A Game of Thrones - Sansa III
"She hates that I’m going to marry the prince."
Sansa was right. Arya was jealous but not because she wanted to marry Joff or become a queen. She was jealous that Sansa was the one who HAS THE CHANCE to marry a prince and become a queen...
She even tries to ruin Sansa's happiness by insulting Joffrey out of nowhere. And it is also ironic that her insult came from someone who was also a jealous child. Jon was jealous because Joffrey was a prince who was going to marry a highborn beautiful girl and have children and become the king but Jon had no chance for such things: It wasn't fair. Joffrey had everything.
Sansa had the grace to blush. She blushed prettily. She did everything prettily, Arya thought with dull resentment. "Beth, you shouldn't make up stories," Sansa corrected the younger girl, gently stroking her hair to take the harshness out of her words. She looked at Arya. "What did you think of Prince Joff, sister? He's very gallant, don't you think?"
"Jon says he looks like a girl," Arya said.
Sansa sighed as she stitched. "Poor Jon," she said. "He gets jealous because he's a bastard."
A Game of Thrones - Arya I
Sansa was really spilling the tea about how both Jon and Arya were jealous kids. Go gurl.
Arya's dislike toward Lannisters was mostly about them being the royal family who CHOSE Sansa as their future queen. And also they weren't fans of giant mythical deadly animals (dire-wolves).
I am scared of dogs so I must be an evil b*tch too.
Look at her childish dislike:
"I don't like the queen," Arya said casually. Sansa sucked in her breath, shocked that even Arya would say such a thing, but her sister prattled on, heedless. "She won't even let me bring Nymeria." She thrust the brush under her belt and stalked her wolf. Nymeria watched her approach warily.
"A royal wheelhouse is no place for a wolf," Sansa said. "And Princess Myrcella is afraid of them, you know that."
"Myrcella is a little baby." Arya grabbed Nymeria around her neck, but the moment she pulled out the brush again the direwolf wriggled free and bounded off. Frustrated, Arya threw down the brush. "Bad wolf!" she shouted.
A Game of Thrones - Sansa I
Btw the same BABY Myrcella felt sorry for her when she couldn't sew well but Arya forgets the kindness of others sometimes.
The septa examined the fabric. "Arya, Arya, Arya," she said. "This will not do. This will not do at all."
Everyone was looking at her. It was too much. Sansa was too well bred to smile at her sister's disgrace, but Jeyne was smirking on her behalf. Even Princess Myrcella looked sorry for her. Arya felt tears filling her eyes. She pushed herself out of her chair and bolted for the door.
Septa Mordane called after her. "Arya, come back here! Don't you take another step! Your lady mother will hear of this. In front of our royal princess too! You'll shame us all!"
A Game of Thrones - Arya I
Arya says she doesn't like the queen because Queen didn't want those dangerous animals near her kids. And she insults Myrcella out of nowhere. Wow she is so wise. Great judge of character.
So before the Trident incident, Arya was jealous and acting like a baby. These were the reasons for her dislike.
And after the incident... she is a hateful girl, of course she hated the Lannisters.
Arya desperately wanted to explain, to make him see. “I was trying to learn, but…” Her eyes filled with tears. “I asked Mycah to practice with me.” The grief came on her all at once. She turned away, shaking. “I asked him,” she cried. “It was my fault, it was me…”
Suddenly her father’s arms were around her. He held her gently as she turned to him and sobbed against his chest. “No, sweet one,” he murmured. “Grieve for your friend, but never blame yourself. You did not kill the butcher’s boy. That murder lies at the Hound’s door, him and the cruel woman he serves.”
“I hate them,” Arya confided, red-faced, sniffling. “The Hound and the queen and the king and Prince Joffrey. I hate all of them. Joffrey lied, it wasn’t the way he said. I hate Sansa too. She did remember, she just lied so Joffrey would like her.”
“We all lie,” her father said. “Or did you truly think I’d believe that Nymeria ran off?”
Arya blushed guiltily. “Jory promised not to tell.”
“Jory kept his word,” her father said with a smile. “There are some things I do not need to be told. Even a blind man could see that wolf would never have left you willingly.”
“We had to throw rocks,” she said miserably. “I told her to run, to go be free, that I didn’t want her anymore. There were other wolves for her to play with, we heard them howling, and Jory said the woods were full of game, so she’d have deer to hunt. Only she kept following, and finally we had to throw rocks. I hit her twice. She whined and looked at me and I felt so ‘shamed, but it was right, wasn’t it? The queen would have killed her.”
“It was right, her father said. “And even the lie was…not without honor.”
[...]
“Let me tell you something about wolves, child. When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives. Summer is the time for squabbles. In winter, we must protect one another, keep each other warm, share our strengths. So if you must hate, Arya, hate those who would truly do us harm. Septa Mordane is a good woman, and Sansa…Sansa is your sister. You may be as different as the sun and the moon, but the same blood flows through both your hearts. You need her, as she needs you…and I need both of you, gods help me.”
He sounded so tired that it made Arya sad. “I don’t hate Sansa,” she told him. “Not truly.” It was only half a lie.
A Game of Thrones - Arya II
Lannisters personally caused her pain.
Joffrey hurt Mycah, Cersei wanted to kill Nymeria (and when Robert provoked her she chose Lady for revenge) and their dog Sandor killed Mycah, her friend. This is the story for Arya.
Ned encourages her to hate Lannisters tbh. Which is a stupid thing if you ask me (also Ned doesn't even defend Sansa... this man finds a way to let down Sansa in every page. Unbelievable).
Even the 9 yo Arya was ready to realize her mistakes.
She wasn't supposed to be with Mycah,
she wasn't supposed to practice with him,
she was supposed to be with Septa and Sansa,
she wasn’t supposed to hit Joffrey,
she wasn't supposed to run away for days,
she was supposed to come to her father who was the HAND and the FRIEND of the KING.
She KNEW Nymeria was in danger so she knew that she DID STH BAD.
But of course Ned doesn't let her acknowledge her mistakes... because he sucks... and he encourages her further by awarding her with a "dance" teacher.
I am not saying that he should have blamed her but she made everything worse and Ned should have pointed her mistakes out to prevent her doing the same mistakes again in the future. And look him never DEFENDING Sansa... he is truly to worst father ever.
BUT what was the story for her Sansa??
A Game of Thrones - Sansa I:
Sansa is ready to love her prince aka her future husband:
Prince Joffrey might be there. Her betrothed. Just thinking it made her feel a strange fluttering inside, even though they were not to marry for years and years. Sansa did not really know Joffrey yet, but she was already in love with him. He was all she ever dreamt her prince should be, tall and handsome and strong, with hair like gold. She treasured every chance to spend time with him, few as they were. The only thing that scared her about today was Arya. Arya had a way of ruining everything. You never knew what she would do.
The only thing that scared her about today was Arya. Arya had a way of ruining everything. You never knew what she would do.
Lol, she was right about Ary*! Martin really tells you form the start that Arya is gonna f*ck things up...
Sansa's prince comes her rescue:
And her prince was there.
"Leave her alone," Joffrey said. He stood over her, beautiful in blue wool and black leather, his golden curls shining in the sun like a crown. He gave her his hand, drew her to her feet. "What is it, sweet lady? Why are you afraid? No one will hurt you. Put away your swords, all of you. The wolf is her little pet, that's all." He looked at Sandor Clegane. "And you, dog, away with you, you're scaring my betrothed."
The Hound, ever faithful, bowed and slid away quietly through the press. Sansa struggled to steady herself. She felt like such a fool. She was a Stark of Winterfell, a noble lady, and someday she would be a queen. "It was not him, my sweet prince," she tried to explain. "It was the other one."
Joffrey wants everyone to respect Sansa (and Sansa sees that Joff gets angry easily):
"Now, wolf girl, if you can put a name to me as well, then I must concede that you are truly our Hand's daughter."
Joffrey stiffened beside her. "Have a care how you address my betrothed."
"I can answer," Sansa said quickly, to quell her prince's anger. She smiled at the green knight. "Your helmet bears golden antlers, my lord. The stag is the sigil of the royal House. King Robert has two brothers. By your extreme youth, you can only be Renly Baratheon, Lord of Storm's End and councillor to the king, and so I name you."
Joff doesn't seem to like it when people being smug with her betrothed and he takes Sansa's hands to soothe her:
"Ser Ilyn has not been feeling talkative these past fourteen years," Lord Renly commented with a sly smile.
Joffrey gave his uncle a look of pure loathing, then took Sansa's hands in his own. "Aerys Targaryen had his tongue ripped out with hot pincers."
Joffrey wants to spend time with her and he acts like he is ready to defend her like some historical knight:
Joffrey, perhaps you would be so kind as to entertain our guest today."
"It would be my pleasure, Mother," Joffrey said very formally. He took her by the arm and led her away from the wheelhouse, and Sansa's spirits took flight. A whole day with her prince! She gazed at Joffrey worshipfully. He was so gallant, she thought. The way he had rescued her from Ser Ilyn and the Hound, why, it was almost like the songs, like the time Serwyn of the Mirror Shield saved the Princess Daeryssa from the giants, or Prince Aemon the Dragonknight championing Queen Naerys's honor against evil Ser Morgil's slanders.
Joffrey doesn't seem to hate dire wolves but logically he thinks they should leave Lady behind:
Joffrey glanced back at Lady, who was following at their heels. "Your wolf is liable to frighten the horses, and my dog seems to frighten you. Let us leave them both behind and set off on our own, what do you say?"
Sansa doesn't want to look stupid and she realizes Joff doesn't like to be treated like a helpless child:
"You mean the Hound," she said. She wanted to hit herself for being so slow. Her prince would never love her if she seemed stupid. "Is it safe to leave him behind?"
Prince Joffrey looked annoyed that she would even ask. "Have no fear, lady. I am almost a man grown, and I don't fight with wood like your brothers. All I need is this." He drew his sword and showed it to her; a longsword adroitly shrunken to suit a boy of twelve, gleaming blue steel, castle-forged and double-edged, with a leather grip and a lion's-head pommel in gold. Sansa exclaimed over it admiringly, and Joffrey looked pleased. "I call it Lion's Tooth," he said.
They are having amazing time and Joff says Sansa can do whatever she likes:
It was a glorious day, a magical day. The air was warm and heavy with the scent of flowers, and the woods here had a gentle beauty that Sansa had never seen in the north. Prince Joffrey's mount was a blood bay courser, swift as the wind, and he rode it with reckless abandon, so fast that Sansa was hard-pressed to keep up on her mare. It was a day for adventures. They explored the caves by the riverbank, and tracked a shadowcat to its lair, and when they grew hungry, Joffrey found a holdfast by its smoke and told them to fetch food and wine for their prince and his lady. They dined on trout fresh from the river, and Sansa drank more wine than she had ever drunk before. "My father only lets us have one cup, and only at feasts," she confessed to her prince.
"My betrothed can drink as much as she wants," Joffrey said, refilling her cup.
Now, Sansa feels dizzy because of the wine and I bet Joffrey drunk probably more than her and she wants to go back but Joff hears noises (btw he sings for her... romantic):
They went more slowly after they had eaten. Joffrey sang for her as they rode, his voice high and sweet and pure. Sansa was a little dizzy from the wine. "Shouldn't we be starting back?" she asked.
"Soon," Joffrey said. "The battleground is right up ahead, where the river bends. That was where my father killed Rhaegar Targaryen, you know. He smashed in his chest, crunch, right through the armor." Joffrey swung an imaginary warhammer to show her how it was done. "Then my uncle Jaime killed old Aerys, and my father was king. What's that sound?"
Sansa heard it too, floating through the woods, a kind of wooden clattering, snack snack snack. "I don't know," she said. It made her nervous, though. "Joffrey, let's go back."
"I want to see what it is." Joffrey turned his horse in the direction of the sounds, and Sansa had no choice but to follow. The noises grew louder and more distinct, the clack of wood on wood, and as they grew closer they heard heavy breathing as well, and now and then a grunt.
Joff acts like a brave prince:
"Someone's there," Sansa said anxiously. She found herself thinking of Lady, wishing the direwolf was with her.
"You're safe with me." Joffrey drew his Lion's Tooth from its sheath. The sound of steel on leather made her tremble. "This way," he said, riding through a stand of trees.
Joffrey sees Arya and Mycah, Mycah hurts Arya, Joff finds it funny and Arya rudely chases them away.
The boy was years older, a head taller, and much stronger, and he was pressing the attack. The girl, a scrawny thing in soiled leathers, was dodging and managing to get her stick in the way of most of the boy's blows, but not all. When she tried to lunge at him, he caught her stick with his own, swept it aside, and slid his wood down hard on her fingers. She cried out and lost her weapon.
Prince Joffrey laughed. The boy looked around, wide-eyed and startled, and dropped his stick in the grass. The girl glared at them, sucking on her knuckles to take the sting out, and Sansa was horrified. "Arya?" she called out incredulously.
"Go away," Arya shouted back at them, angry tears in her eyes. "What are you doing here? Leave us alone."
PAY ATTENTION PLEASE:
Arya loses against someone lower born than her,
She is in pain,
She lost her weapon
Someone is laughing at her
Arya glares at the person who witnessed her defeat
Arya has tears in her eyes
Arya chases them away rudely
hmmm...
Joff questions Mycah, Arya once again orders around rudely to a prince:
"He's my friend," Arya said sharply. "You leave him alone."
"A butcher's boy who wants to be a knight, is it?" Joffrey swung down from his mount, sword in hand. "Pick up your sword, butcher's boy," he said, his eyes bright with amusement. "Let us see how good you are."
Mycah stood there, frozen with fear.
Joffrey orders Mycah to fight with him...
just like Arya asked Mycah to practice with her:
Joffrey walked toward him. "Go on, pick it up. Or do you only fight little girls?"
"She ast me to, m'lord," Mycah said. "She ast me to."
Sansa had only to glance at Arya and see the flush on her sister's face to know the boy was telling the truth, but Joffrey was in no mood to listen. The wine had made him wild. "Are you going to pick up your sword?"
Joff is drunk, he thinks he protects Arya's honor (uses this as an excuse but that's the text),
Arya once again rudely orders Joff to stop and finds a weapon:
Mycah shook his head. "It's only a stick, m'lord. It's not no sword, it's only a stick."
"And you're only a butcher's boy, and no knight." Joffrey lifted Lion's Tooth and laid its point on Mycah's cheek below the eye, as the butcher's boy stood trembling. "That was my lady's sister you were hitting, do you know that?" A bright bud of blood blossomed where his sword pressed into Mycah's flesh, and a slow red line trickled down the boy's cheek.
"Stop it!" Arya screamed. She grabbed up her fallen stick.
Sansa warns her but she doesn't listen
and yeah.. she attacks THE FCKING PRINCE:
Sansa was afraid. "Arya, you stay out of this."
"I won't hurt him … much," Prince Joffrey told Arya, never taking his eyes off the butcher's boy.
Arya went for him.
Arya hits his head FROM BEHIND...
And look at her keep attacking Joffrey even after Mycah runs away...
Sansa begs BOTH OF THEM to stop.
Nymeria attacks Joffrey.
Joffrey is in pain.
Sansa slid off her mare, but she was too slow. Arya swung with both hands. There was a loud crack as the wood split against the back of the prince's head, and then everything happened at once before Sansa's horrified eyes. Joffrey staggered and whirled around, roaring curses. Mycah ran for the trees as fast as his legs would take him. Arya swung at the prince again, but this time Joffrey caught the blow on Lion's Tooth and sent her broken stick flying from her hands. The back of his head was all bloody and his eyes were on fire. Sansa was shrieking, "No, no, stop it, stop it, both of you, you're spoiling it," but no one was listening. Arya scooped up a rock and hurled it at Joffrey's head. She hit his horse instead, and the blood bay reared and went galloping off after Mycah. "Stop it, don't, stop it!" Sansa screamed. Joffrey slashed at Arya with his sword, screaming obscenities, terrible words, filthy words. Arya darted back, frightened now, but Joffrey followed, hounding her toward the woods, backing her up against a tree. Sansa didn't know what to do. She watched helplessly, almost blind from her tears.
Then a grey blur flashed past her, and suddenly Nymeria was there, leaping, jaws closing around Joffrey's sword arm. The steel fell from his fingers as the wolf knocked him off his feet, and they rolled in the grass, the wolf snarling and ripping at him, the prince shrieking in pain. "Get it off," he screamed. "Get it off!"
Joff wasn't going to hurt Mycah... much
and Nymeria didn't hurt him... much...
Arya takes prince's sword...
She throws his ( A PRINCE'S) sword into fcking river???
Arya's voice cracked like a whip. "Nymeria!"
The direwolf let go of Joffrey and moved to Arya's side. The prince lay in the grass, whimpering, cradling his mangled arm. His shirt was soaked in blood. Arya said, "She didn't hurt you … much." She picked up Lion's Tooth where it had fallen, and stood over him, holding the sword with both hands.
Joffrey made a scared whimpery sound as he looked up at her. "No," he said, "don't hurt me. I'll tell my mother."
"You leave him alone!" Sansa screamed at her sister.
Arya whirled and heaved the sword into the air, putting her whole body into the throw. The blue steel flashed in the sun as the sword spun out over the river. It hit the water and vanished with a splash. Joffrey moaned. Arya ran off to her horse, Nymeria loping at her heels.
Now...
Joff lost against a girl and a wolf,
He is in pain,
Sansa, his betrothed, witnessed his defeat
And Joff rudely sends her away.
After they had gone, Sansa went to Prince Joffrey. His eyes were closed in pain, his breath ragged. Sansa knelt beside him. "Joffrey," she sobbed. "Oh, look what they did, look what they did. My poor prince. Don't be afraid. I'll ride to the holdfast and bring help for you." Tenderly she reached out and brushed back his soft blond hair.
His eyes snapped open and looked at her, and there was nothing but loathing there, nothing but the vilest contempt. "Then go," he spit at her. "And don't touch me."
THEY ARE THE SAME PICTURE:
Joff/Arya lose to people who are beneath them
They lose their weapons
They are in pain
People witness their embarrassing defeats
They chase the witnesses away RUDELY
They are perfect for each other, they love riding, swords, fighting with butcher boys, calling Sansa and everyone/everything stupid, they are psychos and they love killing. LOL.
anyway..
So, for Sansa it goes like this:
Everything started great, Joff acted like a gallant prince, they had a good day, they drunk too much wine, they saw Arya doing sth she shouldn't, Arya acted rudely, drunk Joffrey hurt Mycah, Arya and Nymeria attacked Joffrey and Joff ended up worse than Mycah and Arya, Joffrey sent her away rudely because she witnessed him being beaten.
Arya is the one who PROVOKES drunk Joffrey by being a rude a*s. Imagine if it was Sansa who was practicing with Mycah. Sansa would never scream GO AWAY to a prince. She would find the words to keep the prince humored.
And this brings me back to the beginning of the chapter where Sansa immediately realizes Joffrey gets angry easily and humoring him is the best way to control him:
"Now, wolf girl, if you can put a name to me as well, then I must concede that you are truly our Hand's daughter."
Joffrey stiffened beside her. "Have a care how you address my betrothed."
"I can answer," Sansa said quickly, to quell her prince's anger. She smiled at the green knight. "Your helmet bears golden antlers, my lord. The stag is the sigil of the royal House. King Robert has two brothers. By your extreme youth, you can only be Renly Baratheon, Lord of Storm's End and councillor to the king, and so I name you."
[AGOT - Sansa I]
Sansa knows how to deal with Joffrey (ACOK- saving Dontos etc) but Arya doesn't. Because Arya is not smart enough to read the room or to judge a character and act accordingly.
So Sansa has excuses for JOFFREY... he was drunk and Arya was rude.
She doesn't know Joffrey enough but this one unfortunate incident can't tell the whole story about him to her. She needs to give him a chance (she is gonna marry him!). But she knows that Arya always finds a way to ruin things for Sansa especially. So she knows Arya and it is easy to blame her because she is just like that.
She knows that Arya can provoke people ("Jon says he looks like a girl") but so far Joffrey was a kind prince. It is easy to blame the wine, Arya and the embarrassing situation that Joffrey finds himself in.
ARYA literally runs away and they can't find her for days. She knows she is in trouble and instead of going to her father for help she hides and leaves her "friend" to his own fate (such a good friend).
And of course Joffrey lies about what happened because it would make him look bad and weak:
“And what business is that?” Ned put ice in his voice.
The queen stepped forward. “You know full well, Stark. This girl of yours attacked my son. Her and her butcher’s boy. That animal of hers tried to tear his arm off.”
“That’s not true,” Arya said loudly. “She just bit him a little. He was hurting Mycah.”
“Joff told us what happened,” the queen said. “You and the butcher boy beat him with clubs while you set your wolf on him.”
“That’s not how it was,” Arya said, close to tears again. Ned put a hand on her shoulder.
“Yes it is!” Prince Joffrey insisted. “They all attacked me, and she threw Lion’s Tooth in the river!” Ned noticed that he did not so much as glance at Arya as he spoke.
“Liar!” Arya yelled.
“Shut up!” the prince yelled back.”
A Game of Thrones - Eddard III
Arya the idiot is still screaming at the fcking PRINCE??
If she was smart she would apologize and Joff wouldn't drag it out because he is guilty too (btw I mean if she was smart enough to go to her father in the first place... at this point it was already too late for Mycah...).
Which one is important?
Saving people or being right?
Sansa lied for Dontos and it saved his life.
Sansa cares about the saving people part... Arya can't relate.
And Ned the idiot he is, asks Sansa to pick a SIDE...
Poor Cat had to fck this idiot for years.. yikes.
But Sansa is smarter than them so she doesn't pick side.
In the end THEY ALL HATE HER. GREAT. And now she is the bad guy...
BTW Ned really wanted Sansa to tell people that YEAH ARYA REALLY ATTACKED THE FCKING PRINCE????
Arya literally physically attacks her.. wow you really made your point about not being an aggressive child Arya you idiot.
“His eldest daughter stepped forward hesitantly. She was dressed in blue velvets trimmed with white, a silver chain around her neck. Her thick auburn hair had been brushed until it shone. She blinked at her sister, then at the young prince. “I don’t know,” she said tearfully, looking as though she wanted to bolt. “I don’t remember. Everything happened so fast, I didn’t see…”
“You rotten!” Arya shrieked. She flew at her sister like an arrow, knocking Sansa down to the ground, pummeling her. “Liar, liar, liar, liar.”
“Arya, stop it!” Ned shouted. Jory pulled her off her sister, kicking. Sansa was pale and shaking as Ned lifted her back to her feet. “Are you hurt?” he asked, but she was staring at Arya, and she did not seem to hear.
“The girl is as wild as that filthy animal of hers,” Cersei Lannister said. “Robert, I want her punished.”
PAY ATTENTION: No one gets punished! Not Arya not Joffrey.
“Seven hells,” Robert swore. “Cersei, look at her. She’s a child. What would you have me do, whip her through the streets? Damn it, children fight. It’s over. No lasting harm Was done.”
The queen was furious. “Joff will carry those scars for the rest of his life.”
Robert “Robert Baratheon looked at his eldest son. “So he will. Perhaps they will teach him a lesson. Ned, see that your daughter is disciplined. I will do the same with my son.”
“Gladly, Your Grace,” Ned said with vast relief.
BUT Cersei is not done and rightly she asks that dangerous animal to be killed to keep her children safe. NOT LADY. NYMERIA.
Robert started to walk away, but the queen was not done. “And what of the direwolf?” she called after him. “What of the beast that savaged your son?”
The king stopped, turned back, frowned. “I’d forgotten about the damned wolf.”
Ned could see Arya tense in Jory’s arms. Jory spoke up quickly. “We found no trace of the direwolf, Your Grace.”
Robert did not look unhappy. “No? So be it.”
The queen raised her voice. “A hundred golden dragons to the man who brings me its skin!”
“A costly pelt,” Robert grumbled. “I want no part of this, woman. You can damn well buy your furs with Lannister gold.”
The queen regarded him coolly. “I had not thought you so niggardly. The king I’d thought to wed would have laid a wolfskin across my bed before the sun went down.”
BUT Robert the stupid King provokes her... And she turns to Lady this time.
Robert’s face darkened with anger. “That would be a fine trick, without a wolf.”
“We have a wolf,” Cersei Lannister said. Her voice was very quiet, but her green eyes shone with triumph.
It took them all a moment to comprehend her words, but when they did, the king shrugged irritably. “As you will. Have Ser Ilyn see to it.”
“Robert, you cannot mean this,” Ned protested.
The king was in no mood for more argument. “Enough, Ned, I will hear no more. A direwolf is a savage beast. Sooner or later it would have turned on your girl the same way the other did on my son. Get her a dog, she’ll be happier for it.”
That was when Sansa finally seemed to comprehend. Her eyes were frightened as they went to her father. “He doesn’t mean Lady, does he?” She saw the truth on his face. “No,” she said. “No, not Lady, Lady didn’t bite anybody, she’s good…”
So in the end only Sansa, Lady and Mycah get punished.
Gonna leave this here:
Question: What was the hardest thing in writing about such an alien world
GRRM: The vast majority of fantasy is middle agey time wise, and he himself finds the period fascinating; glad to adopt it for novel writing - likes knights and castles and such. He objects to bad fantasy practice which adopts a time setting without accepting the culture - imposing 20th century values like the cheeky stableboy telling off the princess (in reality cheeky stableboy would lose his tongue - look what happend to Micah); the class system was not just and ornament and these people truly belived in blood, and the rank and priviledge that came with "good" blood. [SSM, 2006]
ARYA was the cheeky little girl, not Mycah Martin. ISTG.
BTW Robert later admits that he knew Joff was lying... So the fans who say Sansa had a power over the situation and outcome are lying:
“He took the horn, upended it, belched, wiped his mouth. “I am sorry for your girl, Ned. Truly. About the wolf, I mean. My son was lying, I’d stake my soul on it. My son…you love your children, don’t you?”
“With all my heart,” Ned said.
“Let me tell you a secret, Ned. More than once, I have dreamed of giving up the crown. Take ship for the Free Cities with my horse and my hammer, spend my time warring and whoring, that’s what I was made for. The sellsword king, how the singers would love me. You know what stops me? The thought of Joffrey on the throne, with Cersei standing behind him whispering in his ear. My son. How could I have made a son like that, Ned?”
“He’s only a boy,” Ned said awkwardly. He had small liking for Prince Joffrey, but he could hear the pain in Robert’s voice. “Have you forgotten how wild you were at his age?”
“It would not trouble me if the boy was wild, Ned. You don’t know him as I do.” He sighed and shook his head. “Ah, perhaps you are right. Jon despaired of me often enough, yet I grew into a good king.” Robert looked at Ned and scowled at his silence. “You might speak up and agree now, you know.”
“Your Grace…” Ned began, carefully.
A Game of Thrones - Eddard VII
Look at Ned making excuses for Joffrey...
Maybe Arya should have attacked him too.. She should have kicked him in front of everyone while also screaming at him LIAR LIAR...
BLA BLA BLA...
OK..
So we have Arya's side, Sansa's side, Joff's side.
Arya hates Sansa, Joffrey, Cersei, Hound.
Joff hates Arya
Sansa first hated Joff but then she only hates Queen and Arya.
And most importantly Arya was allowed to HATE LANNISTERS.
It was Sansa who was going to marry Joffrey and live with them FOREVER.
Sansa and Septa Mordane were given places of high honor, to the left of the raised dais where the king himself sat beside his queen. When Prince Joffrey seated himself to her right, she felt her throat tighten. He had not spoken a word to her since the awful thing had happened, and she had not dared to speak to him. At first she thought she hated him for what they'd done to Lady, but after Sansa had wept her eyes dry, she told herself that it had not been Joffrey's doing, not truly. The queen had done it; she was the one to hate, her and Arya. Nothing bad would have happened except for Arya.
A Game of Thrones - Sansa II
Sansa blames Cersei and Arya. Not Joffrey.
Well tbf, Joff didn't ask Lady to be killed. It was Queen... after King provoked her. Sansa was the only one who truly saw Robert's true colors... what about that ha??
Anyway... unlike NED and ARYA (her so called family) treating her badly or worse ignoring her, let's look at how Joff treated her after the Trident:
She could not hate Joffrey tonight. He was too beautiful to hate. He wore a deep blue doublet studded with a double row of golden lion's heads, and around his brow a slim coronet made of gold and sapphires. His hair was as bright as the metal. Sansa looked at him and trembled, afraid that he might ignore her or, worse, turn hateful again and send her weeping from the table.
Instead Joffrey smiled and kissed her hand, handsome and gallant as any prince in the songs, and said, "Ser Loras has a keen eye for beauty, sweet lady."
"He was too kind," she demurred, trying to remain modest and calm, though her heart was singing. "Ser Loras is a true knight. Do you think he will win tomorrow, my lord?"
"No," Joffrey said. "My dog will do for him, or perhaps my uncle Jaime. And in a few years, when I am old enough to enter the lists, I shall do for them all." He raised his hand to summon a servant with a flagon of iced summerwine, and poured her a cup. She looked anxiously at Septa Mordane, until Joffrey leaned over and filled the septa's cup as well, so she nodded and thanked him graciously and said not another word.
The servants kept the cups filled all night, yet afterward Sansa could not recall ever tasting the wine. She needed no wine. She was drunk on the magic of the night, giddy with glamour, swept away by beauties she had dreamt of all her life and never dared hope to know.
[...]
And Joffrey was the soul of courtesy. He talked to Sansa all night, showering her with compliments, making her laugh, sharing little bits of court gossip, explaining Moon Boy's japes. Sansa was so captivated that she quite forgot all her courtesies and ignored Septa Mordane, seated to her left.
All the while the courses came and went. A thick soup of barley and venison. Salads of sweetgrass and spinach and plums, sprinkled with crushed nuts. Snails in honey and garlic. Sansa had never eaten snails before; Joffrey showed her how to get the snail out of the shell, and fed her the first sweet morsel himself. Then came trout fresh from the river, baked in clay; her prince helped her crack open the hard casing to expose the flaky white flesh within. And when the meat course was brought out, he served her himself, slicing a queen's portion from the joint, smiling as he laid it on her plate. She could see from the way he moved that his right arm was still troubling him, yet he uttered not a word of complaint.
A Game of Thrones - Sansa II
Joff is being really nice to her... so why not give him another chance? Meanwhile Arya hates her and Ned is too fcking distant to her. And look what happens:
Later came sweetbreads and pigeon pie and baked apples fragrant with cinnamon and lemon cakes frosted in sugar, but by then Sansa was so stuffed that she could not manage more than two little lemon cakes, as much as she loved them. She was wondering whether she might attempt a third when the king began to shout.
King Robert had grown louder with each course. From time to time Sansa could hear him laughing or roaring a command over the music and the clangor of plates and cutlery, but they were too far away for her to make out his words.
Now everybody heard him. “No,” he thundered in a voice that drowned out all other speech. Sansa was shocked to see the king on his feet, red of face, reeling. He had a goblet of wine in one hand, and he was drunk as a man could be. “You do not tell me what to do, woman,” he screamed at Queen Cersei. “I am king here, do you understand? I rule here, and if I say that I will fight tomorrow, I will fight!”
Everyone was staring. Sansa saw Ser Barristan, and the king’s brother Renly, and the, and the short man who had talked to her so oddly and touched her hair, but no one made a move to interfere. The queen’s face was a mask, so bloodless that it might have been sculpted from snow. She rose from the table, gathered her skirts around her, and stormed off in silence, servants trailing behind.
[...]
Sansa started as Joffrey laid his hand on her arm. “It grows late,” the prince said. He had a queer look on his face, as if he were not seeing her at all. “Do you need an escort back to the castle?”
“No,” Sansa began. She looked for Septa Mordane, and was startled to find her with her head on the table, snoring soft and ladylike snores. “I mean to say…yes, thank you, that would be most kind. I am tired, and the way is so dark. I should be glad for some protection.”
Joffrey called out, “Dog!”
Sandor Clegane seemed to take form out of the night, so quickly did he appear. He had exchanged his armor for a red woolen tunic with a leather dog’s head sewn on the front. The light of the torches made his burned face shine a dull red. “Yes, Your Grace?” he said.
“Take my betrothed back to the castle, and see that no harm befalls her,” the prince told him brusquely. And without even a word of farewell, Joffrey strode off, leaving her there.
Sansa could feel the Hound watching her. “Did you think Joff was going to take you himself?” He laughed. He had a laugh like the snarling of dogs in a pit. “Small chance of that.” He pulled her unresisting to her feet. “Come, you’re not the only one needs sleep. I’ve drunk too much, and I may need to kill my brother tomorrow.” He laughed again.
Suddenly terrified, Sansa pushed at Septa Mordane’s shoulder, hoping to wake her, but she only snored the louder. King Robert had stumbled off and half the benches were suddenly empty. The feast was over, and the beautiful dream had ended with it.
A Game of Thrones - Sansa II
Everything was great but then the drunk King shouts at his queen and queen leaves. Once again Joff doesn't want Sansa to witness this harsh truth about his life (Grrm did Joff dirty, that boy had horrible parents and Grrm chose to make him a psycho instead of writing a tragic boy... but only Tyrion can have that).
He sends his own guard to escort her (because Ned has no one to protect his daughter... istg). And Hound ruins her night a little more.. etc.
Sansa is good at judging people. Look at her understanding Joff (and how worthless is Robert as a king):
“I had a dream that Joffrey would be the one to take the white hart,” she said. It had been more of a wish, actually, but it sounded better to call it a dream. Everyone knew that dreams were prophetic. White harts were supposed to be very rare and magical, and in her heart she knew her gallant prince was worthier than his drunken father.
“A dream? Truly? Did Prince Joffrey just go up to it and touch it with his bare hand and do it no harm?”
“No,” Sansa said. “He shot it with a golden arrow and brought it back for me.” In the songs, the knights never killed magical beasts, they just went up to them and touched them and did them no harm, but she knew Joffrey liked hunting, especially the killing part. Only animals, though. Sansa was certain her prince had no part in murdering Jory and those other poor men; that had been his wicked uncle, the Kingslayer. She knew her father was still angry about that, but it wasn’t fair to blame Joff. That would be like blaming her for something that Arya had done.
A Game of Thrones - Sansa III
Sansa knows Joff can be violent but she also believes that (wants to believe that) he is NOT THAT VIOLENT..
Sansa was falsely punished for sth ARYA had a part... and she tries to see Joff as a victim too like herself.
And in truth yeah... Cersei and Robert were the bad ones not 12 YO JOFFREY.
And unlike her idiot father, Sansa truly sees what kind of a man/king Robert is. He is violent, drunk, useless, bitter and awful.
Arya made a face. "Not if Joffrey's his father," she said. "He's a liar and a craven and anyhow he's a stag, not a lion."
Sansa felt tears in her eyes. "He is not! He's not the least bit like that old drunken king," she screamed at her sister, forgetting herself in her grief.
Father looked at her strangely. "Gods," he swore softly, "out of the mouth of babes …" He shouted for Septa Mordane.
AGOT- Sansa III
Idiot Ned finally understood that Joff is not Robert's kid thanks to Sansa btw. She really is the only one with BRAINCELLS.
And Sansa couldn't trust this old bitter violent drunk.. that's why she went to Cersei for "help":
"How well I know that, child," Cersei said, her voice so kind and sweet. "Why else should you have come to me and told me of your father's plan to send you away from us, if not for love?"
"It was for love," Sansa said in a rush. "Father wouldn't even give me leave to say farewell." She was the good girl, the obedient girl, but she had felt as wicked as Arya that morning, sneaking away from Septa Mordane, defying her lord father. She had never done anything so willful before, and she would never have done it then if she hadn't loved Joffrey as much as she did. "He was going to take me back to Winterfell and marry me to some hedge knight, even though it was Joff I wanted. I told him, but he wouldn't listen." The king had been her last hope. The king could command Father to let her stay in King's Landing and marry Prince Joffrey, Sansa knew he could, but the king had always frightened her. He was loud and rough-voiced and drunk as often as not, and he would probably have just sent her back to Lord Eddard, if they even let her see him. So she went to the queen instead, and poured out her heart, and Cersei had listened and thanked her sweetly … only then Ser Arys had escorted her to the high room in Maegor's Holdfast and posted guards, and a few hours later, the fighting had begun outside. "Please," she finished, "you have to let me marry Joffrey, I'll be ever so good a wife to him, you'll see. I'll be a queen just like you, I promise."
Queen Cersei looked to the others. "My lords of the council, what do you say to her plea?"
AGOT- Sansa IV
Cersei was her last hope... she didn't go to her because she was loving the queen (remember her saying that she blames the queen for Lady).
But the King was worse. Sansa was let down by the authority figures in her life: Her father, king etc.
Long story short:
Arya didn't realize shit about the Lannisters (she is still alive thanks to Grrm's plot armor)
Arya (and Jon) was just bitter jealous kids
Arya ruins Sansa's day quite often and Trident incident was just another example
Sansa had reasons to sugarcoat Joffrey (he was drunk, provoked, attacked and humiliated- like ARYA- lol)
After the incident Joff and Queen treated her well but Ned, Arya and King were awful or distant to her
She can see the true colors of people (from the start she realizes Joff has temper issues and King is shit) but she doesn't want to face with them openly because her dreams are bound to Joff.
Ned uses Sansa for his own investigation and he cares about Robert more. He doesn't end the betrothal after the Trident (he even tries to defend Joff against his father) so why should Sansa stop wanting Joffrey? He ends it when Joff was being good to Sansa... it makes no sense for Sansa to listen him.
Ned puts Sansa and Arya in danger by forcing them to pick side or encourage them to hate Lannisters
If they were so woke about Joffrey, why didn't they feel sorry about Sansa in the first place then, like you said.
In conclusion:
Sansa is smart but afraid to face the reality
Ned is an useless idiot and a bad father
Arya has a very strong plot armor and is in fact an idiot (or was the word "stupid" her fav word??? ).
Thanks for the ask, have a nice day.

I’ve been reading Sansa fanfic and honestly I am so fucking tired. What is up with people making her out to be some selfish, mean, vindictive, I-don’t-even-fucking-know-what-else little kid????? Where the fuck does this come from???? What books are you reading??
How is it that in a book where characters are committing murder, rape, and even fucking baby exchanges, it is SANSA who needs to repent for her ‘crimes’?
Tell me again how Sansa is a shit person because of one mean thing she said to Arya in a fight but Jon, canonically called a ‘bully’ was the fucking paragon of good behavior as a child. Who’s gonna write the edgy Jon-was-a-pre-canon-bully fanfic huh?? That’s right. Fucking no one. Because we know Jon’s poor behavior at the Wall was driven as much out of his lack of awareness and appreciation of his privilege as it was by his struggle to reconcile the Wall of his dreams with reality. His behavior was an anomaly for him.
Tell me again how Arya’s seeming class blindness in AGOT is so much better than Sansa’s raging classism. Who’s gonna say it was Arya’s fault Mycah got killed, because she didn’t recognize or appreciate her own privilege? Fucking no one. Because she’s nine, a child, and we’re not monsters.
Sansa was selfish for expecting things that were already promised to her, but Arya wasn’t? Sansa is selfish for wanting to go to a tourney that’s being held in her father’s name. Sansa is selfish for expecting to be...married to her betrothed? Sansa is selfish for romanticizing/building up the life she is already expected to live? Sansa is selfish because she says Arya will ‘ruin everything’? Lemme tell you I have an older brother and I sure as fuck have ruined plenty of things for him as a kid stuff his friends lent him, that one time he went to watch some Hunger Game movie with his school friends and thought I would be mature enough to tag along and I really really wasn’t. That’s kind of what siblings do???? If Arya comes across as less ‘selfish’ than Sansa, then that’s because she’s hardly ever denied, and even when she is she’s made to understand why. Arya wants to learn to fight? Arya wants to flout expectations? Arya wants to take Syrio along on the ship? She gets it all. Is she selfish? NO. She’s a child. THEY ARE BOTH CHILDREN.
Sansa is mean, for having sibling fights with Arya? Never mind that she’s grieving the death of a part of her, Lady. Jon lashing out at the Wall may be an anomaly, but Sansa lashing out isn’t? WHY. Sansa is vindictive? Sansa who cried when fucking Joffrey dies? Sansa who is repeatedly described as sweet? Innocent? Courteous?
When exactly is Sansa vindictive? When she doesn’t trust her father- who has been a pretty shit parent to her and fully deserves her distrust- to make the best decisions for her (as he hasn’t in the past) and decides to break one (1) rule in her life to...go to another adult to explain her problem? When she lashes out at Arya in her very valid grief because no one seems to give a flying fuck about helping her deal with it? When she utterly and absolutely ices out Tyrion, the fully grown Lannister man she has been forced to marry? Fuck you.
Ok no. I know. She’s power hungry. Just dying to be queen. I quake in my boots when I read her POV, honestly. Never mind that she is not the one who makes or even influences the decision to betroth her to the prince. (Alright she does in the show. But hey, Arya of the show is a misogynist, Jon is an absolute moron and Tyrion is the good guy so I won’t put a whole lot of stock in show characterization.) Never mind that Sansa’s desire to marry a ‘prince’ is driven more by her romanticizing  and wanting to have a life like the songs, and less to do with power. But nooo. Sansa wants to marry a lord even as late as ASOS. She’s willing to marry Willas because he’s a lord.
Right. Because it is so much more terrible for a girl to want to marry a rich, powerful, upper class guy to get her out of her current shitty situation where she is utterly powerless, than it is for a slave owning girl to order the massacre of 13-years-old, upper class children. People forget that their fave wouldn’t be the character she is now if she hadn’t been married off to a powerful man all the way back in the first book, who unwittingly gave her a position of power of her own for the first time in her life. Or there wouldn’t be any dragons, there wouldn’t be any khaleesi. Isn’t that how patriarchy works??? Fuck Sansa for daring to want what Dany got- control over her own life via marriage.
I’m just so tired. The point of Sansa’s character is that she’s empathetic. She’s soft. She’s polite and courteous. She’s nice to Sandor when he doesn’t deserve it. She calls Jon half-brother because that’s the politest term she can use. She stands up for others (Dontos, the people right before the riot, Tommen, fuck she even warns the Tyrells about Joffrey) even when she’s at her most powerless. She cries and feels bad and prays for her abusers. She’s unwilling to play ‘the game’. She chooses to continue to believe in and place value in the songs and stories as ideals that deserve to be lived up to in the midst of a harsh reality that has driven lesser people to nihilism and bitterness. This is who she is. To dismiss these things for the sake of making her out to be some mean and petty little girl is to misunderstand her entirely.
But who would deign to lower themselves to the perspective of a pre teen girly girl anyway, right?

“Imagine” thinking we need to explain ourselves for enjoying different things in fantasy. It is almost as if all people were different and had diverse tastes or some crazy shit.
Personally I couldn’t give less of a fuck about dragons and battles and action and whatever the fuck repetitive violent stuff that also happens in real life either way if there was not an aesthetic/romantic/poetic archetype of it all in the world to balance it out, which Sansa represents better than any other ASOIAF character, albeit with realistic flaws and substance to make her more interesting. She is in fact something a lot of modern fantasy is missing because characters such as her are considered “insipid”, “less serious”,“childish”, “too Disney-like to market to adults and fantasy dudebros” or whatever, but this lack of “cutesy hopeful dreamers” per say just makes fantasy nowadays soulless and generic as hell for me. There are, on the other hand, no shortage of characters like @rya or J@n in fantasy, so a better question would be why are their stans so cliché? Except I know there is more depth and substance to them both.
Also, imagine being such of a piece of shit lmao
Sansa stans talking about @rya’s future: “I hope she travels the world/has lots of adventures/maybe marries Gendry/has a job where she advocates for the small folk etc etc.”
@rya stans talking about Sansa’s future: “Oh, I can’t wait to see Sansa fans suffering as they watch their favorite character and all they love about her completely ruined by having her murder a child in cold blood, which she totally is about to do in canon” (Sure Jan) “I can’t wait for her to be stuck in a loveless marriage and become an adulterer, that will teach the Jonsas, muah ha ha! I can’t wait for them to see how horrible she totally canonically is!”
Like, calm down you insufferable assholes.

I am so sick of people claiming that Daenerys is mad because of her reaction to Viserys' death. That it was the first piece of "evidence" pointing towards her madness, which is blatantly false. It's just a plot device used by D&D to excuse bad writing.
When Arya killed Walder Frey, everyone cheered her as a Girl Boss despite the sadistic glee on her face.
Tumblr media
Not to mention the fact that she carved his sons up, baked them into a pie, and made him eat them unwittingly. Then she wore dead Walder's face and killed his entire family.
Moving on to Sansa, when she kills Ramsay, which is also cheered as a Girl Boss Moment, and it is because she kills her abuser, but no one claims madness when she smirks as she listens to his own hounds ripping him apart.
Tumblr media
Now onto Daenerys, who's expression when Viserys is killed is this:
Tumblr media
Completely blank and emotionless. Shock, I'd say, watching her (abusive) brother die. And canonically, in the books, she grieves for her brother (or the boy he used to be).
What I'd like to know is this: why, when the Stark sisters kill men for vengeance or 'justice', do people cheer them as Girl Bosses, but when Daenerys did it it's a sign of madness?
I'll tell you.
Tumblr media
Walder Frey orchestrated the Red Wedding which lead to Catelyn and Robb's deaths, and Arya claimed justice and vengeance for that when she killed him. The audience accepted that.
Ramsay abused and raped Sansa, and she fed him alive to his own starving hounds. The audience accepted that as the vengeance and justice it was.
But when Daenerys watches, blank faced and emotionless, as her abusive brother (he told her he'd allow 40,000 men and their horses rape her for the Iron Throne) dies, it's madness?
How does that compute in people's minds? I'd truly like to know, because I was quite uncomfortable throughout watching Arya decimate the Frey's like she did, and even now just thinking about it I feel nauseous. Sansa I cheered on because it was quite the poetic justice, but her little smirk made me cringe a bit ngl.
The double standard between the Stark girls and Dany is glaringly obvious. The Starks feed a man his own sons and wipe a house off the map or feed a man to his dogs, which would take time, and the girl who burns men alive (deservedly), which would be quite swift considering that Balerion's fire melted stone, is insane for doing so?
There's no logic in the argument that Dany's reaction to Viserys' death = first sign of madness and Arya and Sansa's reactions to they Frey's and Ramsay's deaths = Girl Boss Moments.
Daenerys is vilified as mad because of her family's reputation (even though only 6 Targaryen’s could actually be claimed as mad out of hundreds) (AND BAD WRITING) and the Starks are praised as honourable people merely because of Ned Stark's reputation when GRRM has said that Ned was one of a kind and other Starks have been quite ruthless and bloodthirsty (Brandon of the Bloody Blade, Theon the "Hungry Wolf", etc).

Now people are accusing Sansa of being too dumb and too classist to understand that Arya’s been playing a game all along to fool Littlefinger and that Sansa doesn’t know that her true enemy is Littlefinger. Are you fucking kidding me? How do people hate her so much to completely disregard everything Sansa has said and done in the past few seasons? Do people seriously think Sansa doesn’t know exactly what LF is trying to do? She knows LF better than almost anyone else on this show. Arya attacking her as a ploy to play a mind-game with Sansa is not only completely uncharacteristic of Arya but also not bloody okay.
I get not wanting hate being thrown Arya’s way after this Starkbowl bullshit, but any criticism I’ve seen has been geared towards the writers, not Arya.
But of course, it’s always Sansa’s fault. Everything is her fault anyway, right?

I have seen posts about Daenerys antis/Sansa stans discussing and discounting this exact quote from one of Daenerys' chapters in ASOIAF:
"A blue flower grew from a chink in a wall of ice, and filled the air with sweetness. . . . mother of dragons, bride of fire . . ." -A Clash of Kings - Daenerys IV
I have seen posts of these people saying the blue flower imagery somehow correlates to Sansa. Or some other discount of saying it doesn't relate to Jon, or that somehow the sweetness of the blue flower imagery will somehow lead to Jon going against/killing Daenerys...? I honestly have no idea how that correlates, but anyway...
Let's begin tearing this apart.
The first discussion we will be covering, is a Sansa stan post I saw saying the blue flower correlated to Sansa.. somehow. We have many indications as to how that doesn't fit/work at all.
Daenerys sees the blue flower growing from a chink in a wall of ice. Leading readers to infer/know she is seeing the Wall at this moment. Sansa is in the Vale presently, not at the Wall, and I doubt she will ever go to the Wall with how her book arc is playing out.
Based on my post here, Jon is the son of Lyanna Stark. Both are associated/represented by blue flower imagery.
Jon is the blue flower Daenerys sees growing from the wall of ice. He is currently a member of the Night's Watch, his mother is Lyanna, and both Jon and Lyanna have blue flower representation and correlated imagery to such. He is associated with blue and winter. He is the one Daenerys is seeing in that moment, represented by the blue flower.
Another part of this is the 'sweetness' the blue flower emits. Daenerys actually likes sweetness, and sweet things.
"There was food and water here to sustain them, and enough grass for the horses to regain their strength. How pleasant it would be to wake every day in the same place, to linger among shady gardens, eat figs, and drink cool water, as much as she might desire." -A Clash of Kings - Daenerys I
"With so many still waiting on her pleasure, she did not stop to eat. Instead she dispatched Jhiqui to the kitchens for a platter of flatbread, olives, figs, and cheese. She nibbled whilst she listened, and sipped from a cup of watered wine. The figs were fine, the olives even finer, but the wine left a tart metallic aftertaste in her mouth." -A Dance with Dragons - Daenerys I
"Her cooks had prepared them a magnificent meal of honeyed lamb, fragrant with crushed mint and served with the small green figs she liked so much. Two of Dany's favorite hostages served the food and kept the cups filled—a doe-eyed little girl called Qezza and a skinny boy named Grazhar." -A Dance with Dragons - Daenerys IV
"Dany sat amongst the rumpled bedclothes with her arms about her knees, so forlorn that she did not hear when Missandei came creeping in with bread and milk and figs. "Your Grace? Are you unwell? In the black of night this one heard you scream." -A Dance with Dragons - Daenerys VII
"That explains the way Belwas is sweating," Dany said. "I believe I will content myself with figs and dates." -A Dance with Dragons - Daenerys IX
"I've brought you a peach," Ser Jorah said, kneeling. It was so small she could almost hide it in her palm, and overripe too, but when she took the first bite, the flesh was so sweet she almost cried. She ate it slowly, savoring every mouthful, while Ser Jorah told her of the tree it had been plucked from, in a garden near the western wall." -A Clash of Kings - Daenerys I
As seen by the quotes above, Daenerys enjoys eating sweet fruits. She likes sweetness. The blue flower emitting sweetness, though not said in her chapter, likely pleased her. This is not an imagery set against Daenerys, but rather a hint towards Jon likely being someone she will like and find pleasant once they meet. We have other hints towards Jon and Daenerys becoming eventual allies/lovers over enemies as provided by the quotes from me here.
Let's dig into this further, shall we?
I've seen quite a few Jonsa/Sansa stans using this quote and many others to say Jon will fall in love with Sansa. But there is one thing Jon likes, and it does not relate to Sansa in any way, shape, or form:
"Why not? thought Jon. They are all convinced she is a princess. Val looked the part and rode as if she had been born on horseback. A warrior princess, he decided, not some willowy creature who sits up in a tower, brushing her hair and waiting for some knight to rescue her. "I must inform the queen of this agreement," he said. "You are welcome to come meet her, if you can find it in yourself to bend a knee." It would never do to offend Her Grace before he even opened his mouth." -A Dance with Dragons - Jon XI
"Lonely and lovely and lethal, Jon Snow reflected, and I might have had her. Her, and Winterfell, and my lord father's name. Instead he had chosen a black cloak and a wall of ice. Instead he had chosen honor. A bastard's sort of honor." -A Dance with Dragons - Jon III
"A woman of the free folk." How could he explain Ygritte to them? She's warm and smart and funny and she can kiss a man or slit his throat." -A Storm of Swords - Jon VI
Jon has a preference towards women who are strong, determined, and have a warrior-like personality. His interests fall into people such as Ygritte, Val, Arya, and Daenerys. He's always thinking of Arya, and when he had a relationship with Ygritte, he compared her to Arya the most. His preference does not fall in line with the sort of person Sansa is and how she carries herself/acts.
Jon is also associated with moon imagery:
"The white wolf raced through a black wood, beneath a pale cliff as tall as the sky. The moon ran with him, slipping through a tangle of bare branches overhead, across the starry sky." -A Dance with Dragons - Jon I
"Snow," the moon murmured. The wolf made no answer. Snow crunched beneath his paws. The wind sighed through the trees." -A Dance with Dragons - Jon I
"Every man who walks the earth casts a shadow on the world. Some are thin and weak, others long and dark. You should look behind you, Lord Snow. The moon has kissed you and etched your shadow upon the ice twenty feet tall." Jon glanced over his shoulder. The shadow was there, just as she had said, etched in moonlight against the Wall. A girl in grey on a dying horse, he thought. Coming here, to you. Arya. He turned back to the red priestess. Jon could feel her warmth. She has power." -A Dance with Dragons - Jon VI
Who is also associated with moon imagery? Daenerys.
"A trader from Qarth once told me that dragons came from the moon," blond Doreah said as she warmed a towel over the fire. Jhiqui and Irri were of an age with Dany, Dothraki girls taken as slaves when Drogo destroyed their father's khalasar. Doreah was older, almost twenty. Magister Illyrio had found her in a pleasure house in Lys." -A Game of Thrones - Daenerys III
"Khal Drogo looked down at her. His face was a copper mask, yet under the long black mustache, drooping beneath the weight of its gold rings, she thought she glimpsed the shadow of a smile. "Is good name, Dan Ares wife, moon of my life," he said." -A Game of Thrones - Daenerys V
"Memories walked with her. Clouds seen from above. Horses small as ants thundering through the grass. A silver moon, almost close enough to touch. Rivers running bright and blue below, glimmering in the sun. Will I ever see such sights again? On Drogon's back she felt whole. Up in the sky the woes of this world could not touch her. How could she abandon that?" -A Dance with Dragons - Daenerys X
Now, if we really want to go into things and go as crazy as Jonsa stans/Daenerys antis do with contorting text and making it their ship agenda... I could do the same. Mainly with Jon loving Ygritte, who is 'kissed by fire', and that fire relating imagery to Daenerys.
"The wildlings seemed to think Ygritte a great beauty because of her hair; red hair was rare among the free folk, and those who had it were said to be kissed by fire, which was supposed to be lucky." -A Storm of Swords - Jon II
"Jon was coming to know them despite himself: gaunt, quiet Errok and gregarious Grigg the Goat, the boys Quort and Bodger, Hempen Dan the ropemaker. The worst of the lot was Del, a horsefaced youth near Jon's own age, who would talk dreamily of this wildling girl he meant to steal. "She's lucky, like your Ygritte. She's kissed by fire." -A Storm of Swords - Jon V
"You'll see a hundred castles," he promised her. "The battle's done. Maester Aemon will see to you." He touched her hair. "You're kissed by fire, remember? Lucky. It will take more than an arrow to kill you. Aemon will draw it out and patch you up, and we'll get you some milk of the poppy for the pain." -A Storm of Swords - Jon VII
And of course, we all know Daenerys' association with fire:
"The water was scalding hot, but Daenerys did not flinch or cry out. She liked the heat. It made her feel clean. Besides, her brother had often told her that it was never too hot for a Targaryen. "Ours is the house of the dragon," he would say. "The fire is in our blood." -A Game of Thrones - Daenerys I
"There was only her and the dragon. Its scales were black as night, wet and slick with blood. Her blood, Dany sensed. Its eyes were pools of molten magma, and when it opened its mouth, the flame came roaring out in a hot jet. She could hear it singing to her. She opened her arms to the fire, embraced it, let it swallow her whole, let it cleanse her and temper her and scour her clean. She could feel her flesh sear and blacken and slough away, could feel her blood boil and turn to steam, and yet there was no pain. She felt strong and new and fierce." -A Game of Thrones - Daenerys III
"He was no dragon, Dany thought, curiously calm. Fire cannot kill a dragon." -A Game of Thrones - Daenerys V
"After that, for a long time, there was only the pain, the fire within her, and the whisperings of stars." -A Game of Thrones - Daenerys IX
"The heat beat at the air with great red wings, driving the Dothraki back, driving off even Mormont, but Dany stood her ground. She was the blood of the dragon, and the fire was in her." -A Game of Thrones - Daenerys X
"No, she wanted to shout to him, no, my good knight, do not fear for me. The fire is mine. I am Daenerys Stormborn, daughter of dragons, bride of dragons, mother of dragons, don't you see? Don't you SEE? With a belch of flame and smoke that reached thirty feet into the sky, the pyre collapsed and came down around her. Unafraid, Dany stepped forward into the firestorm, calling to her children." -A Game of Thrones - Daenerys X
Even alike to Daenerys, part of the Night's Watch vows Jon took have an association to fire as well:
"Hear my words, and bear witness to my vow," they recited, their voices filling the twilit grove. "Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come." -A Game of Thrones - Jon VI
Or we could even associate some of Val to Daenerys as well:
"When they emerged north of the Wall, through a thick door made of freshly hewn green wood, the wildling princess paused for a moment to gaze out across the snow-covered field where King Stannis had won his battle. Beyond, the haunted forest waited, dark and silent. The light of the half-moon turned Val's honey-blond hair a pale silver and left her cheeks as white as snow. She took a deep breath. "The air tastes sweet." -A Dance with Dragons - Jon VIII
"When she was clean, the slaves helped her from the water and toweled her dry. The girl brushed her hair until it shone like molten silver, while the old woman anointed her with the spiceflower perfume of the Dothraki plains, a dab on each wrist, behind her ears, on the tips of her breasts, and one last one, cool on her lips, down there between her legs." -A Game of Thrones - Daenerys I
"And Val's no man," white-bearded Tormund snorted. "You ought to have noticed that by now, lad." -A Storm of Swords - Jon I
"I am no man," she whispered, "so you may lean on me." Drogo put a huge hand on her shoulder. She took some of his weight as they walked toward the great mud temple." -A Game of Thrones - Daenerys VII
"Perhaps Jon had ridden with the free folk too long; he could not help but laugh. "Your Grace," he said, "captive or no, if you think you can just give Val to me, I fear you have a deal to learn about wildling women. Whoever weds her had best be prepared to climb in her tower window and carry her off at swordpoint . . ." -A Storm of Swords - Jon XI
"How beautiful, the queen tried to tell herself, but inside her was some foolish little girl who could not help but look about for Daario. If he loved you, he would come and carry you off at swordpoint, as Rhaegar carried off his northern girl, the girl in her insisted, but the queen knew that was folly. Even if her captain was mad enough to attempt it, the Brazen Beasts would cut him down before he got within a hundred yards of her." -A Dance with Dragons - Daenerys VII
"Val stood on the platform as still as if she had been carved of salt. She will not weep nor look away. Jon wondered what Ygritte would have done in her place. The women are the strong ones." -A Dance with Dragons - Jon III
"Viserys began to scream the high, wordless scream of the coward facing death. He kicked and twisted, whimpered like a dog and wept like a child, but the Dothraki held him tight between them. Ser Jorah had made his way to Dany's side. He put a hand on her shoulder. "Turn away, my princess, I beg you.".. "No." She folded her arms across the swell of her belly, protectively." -A Game of Thrones - Daenerys V
"Val stood on the tower roof, gazing up at the Wall. Stannis kept her closely penned in rooms above his own, but he did allow her to walk the battlements for exercise. She looks lonely, Jon thought. Lonely, and lovely. Ygritte had been pretty in her own way, with her red hair kissed by fire, but it was her smile that made her face come alive. Val did not need to smile; she would have turned men's heads in any court in the wide world." -A Dance with Dragons - Jon III
"Up here in her garden Dany sometimes felt like a god, living atop the highest mountain in the world. Do all gods feel so lonely? Some must, surely." -A Storm of Swords - Daenerys VI
"That gave the captain pause. "I am no stranger to Meereen. I could find the city again, aye … but why? There are no slaves to be had in Meereen, no profit to be found there. The silver queen has put an end to that. She has even closed the fighting pits, so a poor sailor cannot even amuse himself as he waits to fill his holds. Tell me, my Westerosi friend, what is there in Meereen that you should want to go there?" The most beautiful woman in the world, thought Quentyn. My bride-to-be, if the gods are good. Sometimes at night he lay awake imagining her face and form, and wondering why such a woman would ever want to marry him, of all the princes in the world. I am Dorne, he told himself. She will want Dorne." -A Dance with Dragons - The Merchant's Man
Not only does Daenerys and Val share similar qualities, Daenerys and Arya also share similarities and parallels. Jon is closest to Arya. She is the one he thinks about the most, and loves. He compares others to Arya. He thinks of her often. Arya is the one he considers 'his heart.'
"Arya drew back from him. "He killed the slave?" That did not sound right. "He should have killed the masters!" -A Feast for Crows - Arya II
"Unsullied!" Dany galloped before them, her silver-gold braid flying behind her, her bell chiming with every stride. "Slay the Good Masters, slay the soldiers, slay every man who wears a tokar or holds a whip, but harm no child under twelve, and strike the chains off every slave you see." She raised the harpy's fingers in the air . . . and then she flung the scourge aside. "Freedom!" she sang out. "Dracarys! Dracarys!".. "Dracarys!" they shouted back, the sweetest word she'd ever heard. "Dracarys! Dracarys!" And all around them slavers ran and sobbed and begged and died, and the dusty air was filled with spears and fire." -A Storm of Swords - Daenerys III
"The wolf blood." Arya remembered now. "I'll be as strong as Robb. I said I would." She took a deep breath, then lifted the broomstick in both hands and brought it down across her knee. It broke with a loud crack, and she threw the pieces aside. I am a direwolf, and done with wooden teeth. -A Clash of Kings - Arya X
"I am blood of the dragon, she told herself. I am Daenerys Stormborn, Princess of Dragonstone, of the blood and seed of Aegon the Conqueror." -A Game of Thrones - Daenerys II
"She must have slept, though she never remembered closing her eyes. She dreamed a wolf was howling, and the sound was so terrible that it woke her at once. Arya sat up on her pallet with her heart thumping. "Hot Pie, wake up." She scrambled to her feet. "Woth, Gendry, didn't you hear?" She pulled on a boot." -A Clash of Kings - Arya IV
"Yet that night she dreamt of one. Viserys was hitting her, hurting her. She was naked, clumsy with fear. She ran from him, but her body seemed thick and ungainly. He struck her again. She stumbled and fell. "You woke the dragon," he screamed as he kicked her. "You woke the dragon, you woke the dragon." Her thighs were slick with blood. She closed her eyes and whimpered. As if in answer, there was a hideous ripping sound and the crackling of some great fire. When she looked again, Viserys was gone, great columns of flame rose all around, and in the midst of them was the dragon. It turned its great head slowly. When its molten eyes found hers, she woke, shaking and covered with a fine sheen of sweat. She had never been so afraid..." -A Game of Thrones - Daenerys II
"Yes, Arya thought. Yes, it's you who ought to run, you and Lord Tywin and the Mountain and Ser Addam and Ser Amory and stupid Ser Lyonel whoever he is, all of you better run or my brother will kill you, he's a Stark, he's more wolf than man, and so am I." -A Clash of Kings - Arya VIII
"Mother of dragons, Daenerys thought. Mother of monsters. What have I unleashed upon the world? A queen I am, but my throne is made of burned bones, and it rests on quicksand. Without dragons, how could she hope to hold Meereen, much less win back Westeros? I am the blood of the dragon, she thought. If they are monsters, so am I." -A Dance with Dragons - Daenerys II
"She was no little girl in the dream; she was a wolf, huge and powerful, and when she emerged from beneath the trees in front of them and bared her teeth in a low rumbling growl, she could smell the rank stench of fear from horse and man alike." -A Storm of Swords - Arya I
"Ghosts lined the hallway, dressed in the faded raiment of kings. In their hands were swords of pale fire. They had hair of silver and hair of gold and hair of platinum white, and their eyes were opal and amethyst, tourmaline and jade. "Faster," they cried, "faster, faster." She raced, her feet melting the stone wherever they touched. "Faster!" the ghosts cried as one, and she screamed and threw herself forward. A great knife of pain ripped down her back, and she felt her skin tear open and smelled the stench of burning blood and saw the shadow of wings. And Daenerys Targaryen flew. "… wake the dragon …" -A Game of Thrones - Daenerys IX
Arya and Daenerys share the same imagery and have various parallels. Both are strong, determined, beautiful, protective, and fall into their blood/house symbolism as a source of strength for themselves. It's not too far to say that Dany will remind Jon of Arya as well when they meet, and will fall for her due to her personality and traits.
This isn't to diss on Sansa's book character or hate on her. But it is the truth that Jon wouldn't find her appealing as a lover and likely would never fall for her. Sansa's strengths are very much different compared to the ideals/attributes that Jon finds/would find attractive in women such as Ygritte, Val, Arya, and Daenerys.
"My skin has turned to porcelain, to ivory, to steel. Her hands moved stiffly, awkwardly, as if they had never let down her hair before. For a moment she wished Shae was there, to help her with the net." -A Storm of Swords - Sansa V
"Joffrey frowned. Sansa felt that she ought to say something. What was it that Septa Mordane used to tell her? A lady's armor is courtesy, that was it. She donned her armor and said, "I'm sorry my lady mother took you captive, my lord." -A Clash of Kings - Sansa I
"Sansa felt dizzy; one instant her head was full of dreams of Loras, and the next they had all been snatched away. Willas? Willas? "I," she said stupidly. Courtesy is a lady's armor. You must not offend them, be careful what you say. "I do not know Ser Willas. I have never had the pleasure, my lady. Is he . . . is he as great a knight as his brothers?" -A Storm of Swords - Sansa I
Sansa's strengths lie in her using courtesy, manners, and pretense as a woman of noble blood to endure her struggles and get through the abuse she had suffered within King's Landing. Within the Vale, her strength lies in her ability to observe, act as Alayne Stone, and maneuver into seducing Harrold Hardyng whilst partaking in the slow poisoning of her younger cousin.
Meanwhile, Daenerys and Arya, along with Val, are a bit more physical in their endeavors:
"There is a reason. A dragon is no slave." And Dany swept the lash down as hard as she could across the slaver's face. Kraznys screamed and staggered back, the blood running red down his cheeks into his perfumed beard. The harpy's fingers had torn his features half to pieces with one slash, but she did not pause to contemplate the ruin. "Drogon," she sang out loudly, sweetly, all her fear forgotten. "Dracarys." -A Storm of Swords - Daenerys III
"She hit him. Hard, right between his little eyes. Screaming, Biter reeled back, and then threw all his weight against his chains. The links slithered and turned and grew taut, and Arya heard the creak of old dry wood as the great iron rings strained against the floorboards of the wagon. Huge pale hands groped for her while veins bulged along Biter's arms, but the bonds held, and finally the man collapsed backward. Blood ran from the weeping sores on his cheeks." -A Clash of Kings - Arya II
"I would hope the truth would please you, Sire. Your men call Val a princess, but to the free folk she is only the sister of their king's dead wife. If you force her to marry a man she does not want, she is like to slit his throat on their wedding night. Even if she accepts her husband, that does not mean the wildlings will follow him, or you. The only man who can bind them to your cause is Mance Rayder." -A Dance with Dragons - Jon I
But Arya and Daenerys are not just physical. They are intelligent, witty, observant, and adapt to their environments/situations for survival. Daenerys takes in the cultures of her people and conforms to them. Arya makes friends and is protective over the people she cares for. Both have had to struggle in their lives. Both have gone without food, home, and family at their sides. Daenerys spent the first half of her life running from place-to-place along Essos as a beggar fearing for her life and enduring her brother's abuse when he became 'mad'. Arya lost her home and family after Ned's death and had to pose as a boy while fearing for her life. These experiences have shaped them for the harsh brutalities of the world while they remain gentle, kind, intelligent, and when fearful they search for strength within themselves to keep going on.
This strength and qualities that they possess is what Jon is mostly attracted to and likes. As shown in his relations/interactions with Ygritte and Val. Jon is also the sort of person Daenerys would like as well. Along with Arya. Daenerys would not openly go out of her way to antagonize neither Jon nor Arya upon meeting them. Daenerys is a gentle, sweet person who also has a fiery strength within her and she has been shown time and time again to be a compromiser, politically savvy, and possesses a sense of humor as well. Arya would likely take a liking to and befriend Daenerys due to the qualities both girls possess and their similarities.
"This time the monsters did not frighten her. They seemed almost old friends. Arya held the candle over her head. With each step she took, the shadows moved against the walls, as if they were turning to watch her pass. "Dragons," she whispered. She slid Needle out from under her cloak. The slender blade seemed very small and the dragons very big, yet somehow Arya felt better with steel in her hand." -A Game of Thrones - Arya IV
Jonsa/Sansa stans twist and contort these texts to fit their agendas, yet I doubt they read the books much or just go off of pointless metas they see their mutuals create. None of this is hard to infer or see based upon reading Daenerys, Arya, and Jon's chapters- yet they see it with a rose-tinted lens towards their favor in making Sansa a 'soft-powered' self-insert for their own benefit to run their delusions and false statements/metas/headacanons.
And when people call them out for it or express their distaste for them/Sansa, they come after them and call them misogynists. Apparently to them, Sansa is the only version of feminism, even though you can find and see clearly that Daenerys and Arya possess/are feminist themselves and are two of the most iconic, deeply-written, and wonderful women of ASOIAF. They had been as well in GoT until the hacks D&D completely miscontrued their characters to their own miogynystic and sexist agendas. But lets be honest here, those two idiots have been f*cking up Daenerys' storyline since season 2.

How much information did Sansa have to gather to deduce that Joffrey and Cersei are not to be trusted after her pet was killed and her betrothed maimed an innocent kid ?
Hi there!
I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and treat this as a genuine question.
The thing that you have to understand is that Sansa is traumatized by the Trident incident. In AGOT Sansa I she has absolutely no reason to mistrust the Queen or Joffrey. Joffrey is polite to her and she enjoys the time with him, until everything goes awry when they chance upon Arya and Mycah (ill luck indeed). From Joffrey’s and Sansa’s perspective it is not clear that Arya and Mycah are playing! Joffrey “valiantly’ steps in to save his betrothed’s sister which is completely in tune with the “bragging mood” he was in the whole day. For him it looks like a peasant dares to strike a lady. He could not know that the education in Winterfell was that different to King’s Landing.
And the result of the whole mess is that Sansa’s direwolf is killed. And an innocent child is killed (not maimed - who is maimed?).
Joffrey did not kill Mycah, that was the Hound.
So, now Sansa is in a difficult situation: She still likes Joffrey and thinks it is not his fault. In a way she still has to like him, because the betrothal is not called off. And we see in Sansa’s next chapter that there is actually a time where she mistrusts the Queen, but not Joffrey. She is anxious about him but he is the perfect gentleman again, calling her Sweet Lady, complimenting her.
Of course she’s glad that she is her gallant prince again. She has to marry him!
And then we see happen what Sansa feared, but not to Sansa. It happens to Cersei:
King Robert had grown louder with each course. From time to time Sansa could hear him laughing or roaring a command over the music and the clangor of plates and cutlery, but they were too far away for her to make out his words.          Now everybody heard him. "No," he thundered in a voice that drowned out all other speech. Sansa was shocked to see the king on his feet, red of face, reeling. He had a goblet of wine in one hand, and he was drunk as a man could be. "You do not tell me what to do, woman," he screamed at Queen Cersei. "I am king here, do you understand? I rule here, and if I say that I will fight tomorrow, I will fight!"
Everyone was staring. Sansa saw Ser Barristan, and the king's brother Renly, and the short man who had talked to her so oddly and touched her hair, but no one made a move to interfere. The queen's face was a mask, so bloodless that it might have been sculpted from snow. She rose from the table, gathered her skirts around her, and stormed off in silence, servants trailing behind.
Cersei does not run weeping, but she is humiliated by Robert here and this is exactly what Sansa feared might happen to her. Only it didn’t. So, from her PoV it is quite obvious who is the bad guy: Not her prince who decided to be all gallant again, but the king. The very king who ordered her direwolf killed on a whim as a retribution for things that Lady did not do, but Nymeria. Maybe you can understand why Sansa suddenly has some sympathy for the Queen? And anyway it is not as if she really trusts the Queen. It is rather that she trusts Joffrey and that she trusts the Queen more than she does trust the King.
I'll be a queen just like you, I promise."     (AGOT, Sansa IV)
So, it’s not exactly about Sansa trusting the Queen above everyone else, or even about Joffrey, it is about who she can trust. Does she trust her father, who killed her wolf? The father who did not dissolve the engagement, who did not confide his doubts in her? The father who did what the King ordered, when he killed her wolf? The King whom she has seen drunk more often than not, disregarding his wife? Humiliating his wife? The septa who can be bribed with alcohol? The sister she is at odds with? Who was not punished? Who got her dancing lessons?
People always think that the PoV characters should know everything that happens in the chapters of other PoV. That is not how the PoV structure works. Sansa did not have a confident talk with her father. Sansa did not see the dead Mycah. Sansa had not been privy to Ned’s secret talk with Cersei. She knew nothing. What she knew was that Joffrey had become the gallant prince again. When Ned is captured, Sansa expects Joffrey to listen to her plea for mercy because this is what gallant princes do.
We also tend to forget that Arya’s dislike might have opened her eyes in regard to the Lannister, but Arya’s PoV is biased as well. She is biased against her own sister, overlooking her sister covering for her. Her dislike and her jealousy for Sansa distorts her view as well. It is cleverly done really: Dislike, hate, love and sympathy can close and open our eyes. Bias is two fold.
So, no Sansa, could not have realized how Joffrey and Cersei really were until the moment Joffrey ordered her father’s head. And after that she never trusts them again, even though she has no one else who she can trust.
Thanks for the ask!

one excuse I've seen for Ned's failure to talk with Sansa like he did Arya is that "Arya needed it more because her friend was killed". And I'm like nobody on our side is saying that he shouldn't have comforted her. It's good that he did. He absolutely needed to. All we're doing is pointing out the way Ned failed Sansa. These people also try to imply that we think Mycahs life is somehow worth less when we raise this but last time I checked the sansa fans aren't the ones who glorify the Hound. It's like the Arya stans who glorify her "relationship" with the Hound are overlooking that he murdered her friend. And it's not sansa fans who put the importance of Lady's murder, it's the narrative itself. Ned's realization that he went against the gods, the direwolves guarding Lady's grave, the Starklings warging powers. Furthermore another excuse given is that Sansa simply wasn't lashing out. That's not true. In the same chapter where he comforts Arya he tells Sansa off for being rude to Arya. He mentions that he is sick of their endless fighting. He doesn't care why they're fighting , only that they stop. Contrary to Arya stan fanon, Sansa behaviour to Arya wasn't normal & yet Ned fails to connect the dots.
And this goes right back to how fandom constantly treats Lady’s death as an afterthought. But even if Lady had been just a regular pet, don’t they think that having your innocent pet killed by your father on the order of your future in-laws is important enough to warrant a talk?
I know Arya stans prefer to have Arya be the only one who has suffered and everything be about her trauma - but saying that we think Mycah’s life is worth less is missing the point by miles. We aren’t talking about the value of a human life versus that of a magical companion here, but of the effect the losses have on Arya and Sansa. And Sansa is no less traumatized by losing Lady than Arya was by losing Mycah. And when you consider the bonds we see Arya and Jon formning with their direwolves, it should be clear why that is so. I mean, even Ned realises the huge mistake he made by following that order, even if was too late.
If we look at later events, does Mycah’s death really change where Arya’s story is going? She hates Cersei... but wouldn’t she anyway because of Ned? Meanwhile Sansa being without Lady and being emotionally neglected afterwards is a huge factor in why she chooses to ask Cersei for help.
I’m actually still convinced GRRM’s main reason for writing the Trident scene was to have Lady taken away from Sansa; because the loss was that significant to what happens later.
I think most Arya stans seem to have read AGoT thinking that Sansa lashing out at Arya was just how it normally was between them. Clearly nothing serious happened to Sansa, so she would have no reason to behave in ways that weren’t usual to her, or respond to trauma by turning her rightful anger towards the wrong person, right? Isn’t this the whole basis for the terrible Sansa-is-a-bully take?
It should be clear that it wasn’t normal, though. Even if we ignore what Lady’s death meant to Sansa, Ned (with the limited amount of time he spends with the girls) notices that they are fighting. And he corrects them when he hears it. Do they really think that Sansa - who seems to have been programmed early on to be focused on pleasing her mother and the Septa - would have gone about Winterfell verbally abusing her sister? And gotten away with it?
As for the Hound, I guess it’s one thing Arya stans and Sansans have in common; the willingness to overlook the fact that the Hound begins the story by murdering a child to be able to glorify his weird relationships with female children.

Again, I would love to know what the fuck an eleven (11) year-old fictional character did that makes her so hated?
Seriously, I don’t get it. Why is everyone so fucking mad all the goddamn time? I just want to go into the Sansa tag for once without seeing some anti-Sansa or Sansabut bullshit every other post. Is that so hard to ask?

If the Tyrion speech to Jon in the finale was supposed to be a message to the audience, and what the actors and crew members have said about Danys destruction on KL be about shaming the audience for cheering for her, and the message was not to cheer violence then they should not have framed Arya killing the Freys as a triumphant moment we are supposed to cheer for as a victory to house stark, same with Sansa killing Ramsey or Jon killing alliser ect.. It just contradicts the whole thing
