You know what’s funny is whenever I make a tech post I get people going “this is blatantly untrue” and I get people going “this is really good information and everyone needs to know it” and the dividing line is how much time you spend with people who are tech literate.

Yep, I would tell my computer savvy friends where they could get keycaps and fix their keyboards; I don’t even have to bother telling my computer savvy friends how to run a fifteen year old laptop because we’re all pretty good at it.

But GODDAMN I just read a response to my “cheap computer season” post that claimed that it was totally reasonable to run a macbook from 2010 and

Look.

That’s not a reasonable thing to tell a student who needs a functional computer to do research and write papers. (have fun trying to find installation discs from when the OS was still named after cats and have fun trying to get a browser to get along with that OS)

You know why most people bring me laptops with missing keys? Because the key got ripped off by their two-year-old and damaged the soldering in the keyboard and I have no idea it’s going to be “oh, yeah, that’s a ten dollar fix” or “sorry, that’s going to be an hour and a half to disassemble and reassemble and we’ll have to order you a new keyboard specific to that model out of new old stock” and the thing is the second one is much, much, much more common in my experience than the first.

Do I think you need to replace a laptop when the bezel is cracked? No. I also don’t carry my laptop powered on in the bag with a flashdrive sticking out of the USB port. Customers do weird things that I don’t understand and when a customer tells me they want me to fix the bezel they think it’s a twenty-dollar snap-on repair because they have no idea how this works and then they get mad at me when I explain “no, you’ve gotta have this specific piece of plastic, these haven’t been made in five years, and you might be better off buying a used model online than trying to track down a new bezel.”

So here’s the thing: Can Macs get viruses?

There are three answers here.

“No, of course not, Macs are made to be virus-proof”

“Macs need antivirus protection because, while it is less common than infections for PCs, there are types of malware that can infect macs and it’s worthwhile to guard against that”

“tEcHnIcAlLy a virus has to be self-replicating and IOS’s file management system [or some other bullshit] prevents that so TECHNICALLY Macs can’t get viruses and what you need is anti-malware software if you need anything because you’re fairly likely to have security through obscurity”

I’m aware of the third position and voicing the second position to people who believe the first position.

YES TECHNICALLY YOU CAN KEEP A COMPUTER RUNNING INDEFINITELY AND YES IT’S TOTALLY POSSIBLE YOUR LAPTOP WILL LAST TEN YEARS.

“Well if you treat it right and run it well it’ll be in great shape for a long time”

YES THAT IS CORRECT DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MANY PEOPLE WHO DON’T WORK ON THEIR OWN CARS DRIVE AROUND WITH THE OIL CHANGE LIGHT ON FOR MONTHS?!?

Tons of people in the world today use computers. They use computers every day, they use computers at home and at school and at work.

Tons of people drive every day. They use cars for fun and for commuting and for their jobs.

That doesn’t mean that all (or even most, or even half) of the people using these things is any good at keeping them running, or even has the barest idea of how to start tracking down a problem.

Someone in the notes of that post described a green line on their screen and thought that was a symptom of hard drive problems. I don’t have the hours in the day to catch this person up to speed on why a display issue on a laptop isn’t indicative of hard drive issues.

Do you know how much people think it’s going to cost to get data off of a broken drive? Not “won’t power up” not “won’t spin” but “I dropped this and part fell off and now it won’t power up or spin and also the platter is chipped”? I’m going to have to send that shit to a clean room and the customer is *staggered* that it might cost more than a hundred dollars to get their data. “Outrageous, what kind of blackmail operation are you trying to run here, just plug it in and get my pictures.”

A year or so ago I was at Jiffy Lube (ew). I’d been shooting the shit with the mechanic when a parent and child rolled in in a panic. And they should have been panicking! They’d thrown a fucking rod because they’d been driving with no oil in the car for god knows how long because neither of them had had the oil changed in the two years they’d owned the vehicle.

*I* can keep a 30-year-old car running. I can put a belt back on an engine in a dark parking lot with a wrench and a headlamp. I can drop a gas tank and replace my fuel filter and thumb my nose at the mechanics who tried to upsell me on “replacing your old, worn-out air filter” the day after I’d popped a new one into my truck.

These folks couldn’t keep a new car running with three alarms telling them what was wrong.

*I* can power up my 2005 macbook running Leopard and use garage band to record a song or do some design work on my copy of Adobe CS3; I can kludge its FF3.5 browser into playing nice with the internet and accept that it’s going to be a slow piece of shit.

The lady who called me confused by the fact that the password to her email was different than the login information for her grocery store rewards account will not be able to function if she gets a pop-up that says she’s using an outdated browser and will think it’s a virus if her bank won’t let her log in on that browser.

And you know what, I’m kind of sick of this attitude.

I would *fucking adore it* if computers were actually easy to repair; I’d love it if you could run new OSs on old hardware (especially on macs because I think apple are kind of shitheads about planned obsolescence).

But you know what, no, most people *CAN’T* reasonably expect to use a ten-year-old computer and have pleasant experience of it. It’s going to run slow. It’s going to shut down when they don’t want it to. The battery is going to swell slightly with the heat and your touchpad is going to go nuts. Your USB ports will stop working. Standard wear and tear that most people don’t know how to protect against and don’t know how to repair is going to make it harder to use AND software requirements will outstrip the hardware capabilities of the computer.

If your old computer sucks it’s not your fault. If you can’t happily use a 10-year-old laptop to do your homework that’s okay, it wasn’t designed for you to use it that way and YOU SHOULDN’T FEEL GUILTY ABOUT IT.

Because that’s kind of what a lot of these “well anybody should realistically be able to run a laptop from 2010″ responses comes down to: if you need new hardware you’re just not doing it right. If you have to replace your computer you didn’t make good choices when you bought it. If your battery dies it’s because you didn’t take care of it.

No. No. No. No.

This shit is A) designed to fail and B) actually really hard to keep running (hey how many blown capacitors do you think someone has to have on their motherboard before you say it’s not their fault for wanting to replace the laptop)

ALSO SOMEONE IN THE RESPONSES OF THAT POST LITERALLY SAID THAT IF YOUR BATTERY DIED AT THREE YEARS IT WAS BECAUSE YOU WEREN’T DOING THE DRAIN CHARGE CYCLE RIGHT AND FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU. It’s discharge cycles and heat, motherfucker; they are going to fail at some point and people shouldn’t feel bad if their batteries stop working after a couple years.

UGH.

You shouldn’t have to be a mechanic. You shouldn’t have to be a computer technician. Yeah, your shit will last longer if you know how to take care of it but, fuck. Imagine you were still using internet speeds from 2010. Imagine all your devices still had USB 2.0. Imagine you couldn’t log onto your online bank because your hardware won’t run he software that your bank recognizes because the hardware manufacturer decided it won’t support the older hardware.

What I was trying to get across in that initial post was “computers fail, and they fail pretty frequently; your life will be better and you will save money if you plan on replacing them at a regular interval and have reasonable expectations in terms of cost and failure. So buy a cheap computer now because you’re probably going to need one at some point”

And now I’ve got to Do A Yell about how there’s no ethical consumption under capitalism and it’s unreasonable to expect tired, overworked, broke people to become experts in computer repair in order to do their homework or play the goose game.

FUCK THAT.

Jungkook’s happy I guess almost surprisingly so, I mean yeah Yoongi and yourself seemed cool in the interview, and when he did is work interview the vibe was chill. But let’s get real, we all know shit always seems better than it actually is in the interviews!

For one he honestly wasn’t expecting to be given such free reign already which is also why he’s happy as hell he didn’t listen to his roommate’s Mark and Ten and lie on his resume. Granted, everything still had to go through Yoongi first but he wasn’t just... I don’t know editing thumbnails like he thought he was actually doing real work. He’s been here barely a month and he already has reels he can add to his portfolio! Learning new tips and tricks, believe it or not, even through his internships he’s learned that some people are stingy when it comes to sharing knowledge. Yoongi however was far from that, thankfully he was well aware that just because you teach someone your “secrets” doesn’t mean you’re essentially replacing yourself! What makes you good at your job isn’t just how it’s done its how you do it!

If only Kookie could stop internally fangirling over Yoongi his life would be a little easier! He’d seen hundreds of your companies films before and being the production major he is..of course, he’d watch it the first time to jack off..then the second time he’d find himself just as if not even more turned on for the production quality. That’s something Onyx is always praised for..”Aesthetically pleasing porn”. Every morning, Yoongi would sit him down and show him something new and for the first time he finally understands what people mean when they say that someones mind is..attractive! Anyway, Kook’s current project was actually one of his favorites so far because it was forcing him to actually challenge himself! This was something actually requested by Hoseok, who he learned was 26, the head of marketing, always bouncing around like he’s had 6 expresso shots and somehow manages to make streetwear look professional…. But anyway the task is creating trailers for films that are pc enough to not be blocked on platforms like IG but spicy enough to get ppl to wanna watch the full thing. Making a climax without the actual climax if you know what I mean. So he’d have to sit there and watch the films, try not to get hard and wanna jack off while watching said films...then take notes and screencaps of the best moments and compile them together without showing “too much”. He’s never been so thankful that he could wear sweatpants to work….because…..yeah it was hard..literally and figuratively hard...but like I said he’s happy and can pay his bills so that’s cool too!

Don’t get me wrong he still feels a little out of place at times and surprisingly enough not for the reason he expected! Two months shy of his 21st bday he assumed he’d feel a type of way because he’s the youngest but that’s not the case! Hell, they went to Nobu for lunch last week and Jin actually slid him his drunk so he wasn’t the only one not drinking! Flashing him a cheeky little wink and whispering “Don’t tell mom” in reference to you once Kook looked back at him like a deer in headlights! It seems as though they care more about his talent than his age which is the way it should be because he knows he’s good at what he dose!

However, Onyx is kinda like those offices you see on TV, the kind he never thought where real, behind closed doors the environment is far from pc! It’s not a normal morning unless somebodies cursing out there computers! This morning he swore Taehyung told Jimin he had a shrimp dick…… There’s “that’s what she said” jokes being thrown out left and right, people cracking jokes on one another. And it’s not that he feels uncomfortable by any means again he’s a 20 y/o kid from LA it’s just ...he’s new...ya know? So he doesn’t know if he’s “allowed” to do that! So in the meantime, he just spends his days laughing until his chest hurts!

But besides that everybody’s chill , he’s still trying to learn people, regardless of how laxed the office is everybody’s busy as all hell especially Namjoon and yourself! The two of you are actually his biggest mystery, he’s never thought of marriage being something that he’d want. He’s always heard that people change, and shit gets boring, but even in a work environment that’s far from the vibe he gets from the two of you! You actually make marriage seem exciting, worth it, like a gift, not a task…..

Something else that he can’t truly wrap his head around is that your his boss, like legitimately his boss! Somebody that looks like you,I mean fuck your not even 30, you sway around the office in your little dresses and designer heels! Always dolled up hell sometimes he questions if he’s the one in some upscale porno! Actually, not just you all of you why the fuck are all of you so effortlessly attractive and put together?! To make it even worse you all know your shit too! Two days ago for example Kook went to Yoongi to ask if there was a certain way he wanted the ending credits to come into frame, and instead of Yoongi responding you did! Using terminology that had him ready to run home and pull out his “Intro to production” text box! Shit don’t make any Goodman sense...even Yoongi sitting in his office looking like he could be in one of the films he’s editing and no, god no why is he thinking this about his higher-ups?! No, no, nope try again Jeon!

However, now that we’re on this topic, there is one person that he can’t quite wrap his head around...I mean yeah he’s nice but he just seems more reserved around Jungkook than everyone else. Which is odd considering he’s the one Kook meet first, he’s actually the one that encouraged him to even submit his resume, to begin with! What makes it even odder is Yoongi and yourself actually told him that Tae was the most outgoing...it’s not that Jungkook nessercally thinks Tae dislikes him it’s just ...I don’t know, I don’t know…I guess he was just...warmer when the two of them met at Starbucks then he is now that they actually work together!

...And I guess that’s why he almost shit himself when his phone rang and the incoming name rang though as….”Taehyung Kim”...he kinda hoped he pocket dialed him and would just hand up! But wait, I guess you can’t really do that from a landline can you?? Fuckkkkkk

“I know technologies come a long way Kook, but phones don’t answer themselves ya know…” Eyes fluttering over to see Yoongi smirking at him, tone blatantly amused as he flipped through a file he had in his hands.It’s like he could sense how nervous he is too “Don’t worry about Tae, he’s more bark than he is bite, he’s literally a puppy dressed in Gucci…” Flicking his chin in the direction of the phone with a reassuring smile.

With a timid nod and shaky fingers Jungkook picks up the call on the final ring “H-hello??”

“Jungkook? Can you come to my office in the next 5 or so minutes?” His tone wasn’t rude by any means but it also wasn’t the most inviting. Eyes fluttering overly timidly in Yoongis direction because he knew Tae was loud enough that the elder could hear and he smiled fondly, nodding in approval. Arms crossed firm against his chest, head cocked to the side, eyes squinting slightly from under his black baseball cap, as if he was now purposely trying to hear the conversation.

“Umm, yeah, yeah of course…” God, why does he sound like he’s still going through puberty right now!? Voice fluttering ina and out of an octave!

“Great!”

Tae just hangs up, no goodbye ...promoting Yoongi to roll his eyes, with an exasperated sigh...Jungkook just sits there for a moment, not too sure what to do!

“You’re free to go, Seok dosen’t need these until Friday and your deifiently far enough along, a little time away from your desk wont hurt! Oh, just save your stuff first though! The systems moving slow as fuck and I’m about ready to break my damn computer so I’ll probably do a system reboot while you’re gone!”

Jungkook nods timidly, swallowing so hard he’s sure Yoongi heard it, fingers scattering to do as Yoongis instructed, he literally feels like he’s going to throw up! Why does Tae make him so nervous? I mean no offense but Tae isn’t even his boss why is he more freaked out of Taehyung than is actual boss!

He hears a heavy sigh fall from behind him, as Yoongi invites himself to take a seat, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder ‘First off, you’re doing fucking great, and I mean that, so step back...and breath...” Squeezing his shoulder slightly, tone calm yet stable enough to ground the younger!

“Second, I’m ordering lunch from that coney up the street, Hyungs treat” He watches Jungkook go to open his mouth in protest and Yoongi just groans, loud and obnoxious, eyes fluttering to the back of his head more times than he can count!

“Don’t even try and give me that “Your not hungry bullshit” Eyes narrowing in the youngers direction challangingly “So let’s try this again, what do you want? And yes Tae can wait I already texted him and told him so you’re fine! Now go to google and pull up Leo’s menu and lets order lu-”

“Yonngggggiiiii!!!’ Whines through the studio, which only promps the man in question to slowly sink into his chair as if he was trying to make himself dissapear! And before Jungkook can even make heads or tails as to what’s happening...a pair of skin-tight leather pants, a florial silk shirt, that was sitting so low it mideswell not even be buttoned, flashy shades and windswept pastel pink hair comes strutting in... Looking like something straight out of Vouge so again he asks why the fuck does everybody look like this!?

Not even botherng to ask if he’s interupted anything, just flinging his arms around the production manager’s neck, propping his chin on top of his head,

“I need like...20 headshots edited...in the next half hour” Jungkook watched Yoongi go completely ridgit a scowl on his face as he tried to pull away but the casting manager only held on tigher “...and before you kill me even though I drunk some of it this Amerciano is for you soooo, I feel like I’ve made it worth or while, please and thank you! ” Smiling so big his eyes dispered into his face it took everything in him not to coo and swoon all at the same damn time!

Dick Grayson: Fate

A/N: This was actually an idea from a fictional book I was thinking of writing, cut down and shortened of course. I figured it shouldn’t go to waste so let’s apply it to an Imagine.

What complete and utter magical bullshit.

Another downpour filled Gotham's skies and all you could offer in acknowledgement was a vile curse to the sky - now anyone else would've assumed you were furious at the world, or simply crazy but you knew better.

It was a recurring phenomenon, a hex if you will, although your 'orphanage' had claimed that Fate followed you - as a child that meant nothing, but adulthood certainly made oddities more noticeable and annoying.

Firstly, dating had become a problem, it most certainly wasn't your appearance as you had been approached on occasion by more confident individuals who'd attempt to win your affections but that's where it ended.

It began with a charming brunette, the man complimenting your smile and asking if you needed any help navigating Gotham city - a subtle way of asking for a date but before you could answer the sky boomed in your place. Rain hammered down in the next second and you quickly covered yourself barely catching the fading voice of your companion.

"Crap! Forgot my umbrella I'm really sorry, gotta run!"

You never saw him again, nor did you think much of the unpredicted weather conditions.

It took a while for you to become familiar with the pattern, how the universe was desperate to keep you single for the entirety of your life. Often you wondered why, at the beginning you were ridiculously naive to believe it was in aid of finding your soulmate, that one person who Fate had chosen to connect you with to live happily ever after...

Then there was a charismatic blonde, this guy a degree more flirty than the last as you flushed with a mere line. Then he asked if he could walk you through the park and grab lunch afterwards due to the rare clear skies of the usually drab city. You gave him a deadpan look, his panty dropping smirk faltering briefly.

"Give it a second mate." You breathed, lazily gesturing to the sky which remained oddly clear.

You were growing suspicious...

"Ohhhh, you're a bit fucking late with this one huh?" Your voice evidently confused as you glared daggers into the unknown force, the blonde obviously weirded out by this slowly edged away and that's when you realised.

"Ah, well played! You got me to drive this one away myself, that was low even for you!" You responded to the silence, tone more frustrated this time.

However, lightning cracked in reply and once more, you were drenched by the rain and could only offer a middle finger to the sky in defeat. Fate wins again, and this time it was literally laughing at you.

"Bitch..."

Another clap of thunder mocked your rather pitiful insult in comparison.

Although with maturity, experiences like above and the fact you definitely were not a normal human being, after some time you settled on the possibility that gifts like yours were not meant to be shared. Either that or Fate had decided you were it's life long soulmate - at this point you didn't give a shit. You'd learnt to carry an umbrella everywhere you went, with the amount of people who regularly tested Fates patience you had to be prepared for unpredictable weather changes.

Today was a unique one though. It felt off, you could sense the unease in the air despite following a semi regular routine which you’d learnt was another gift of yours. You peacefully enjoyed your beverage in the tea shop as you normally did - only after escaping the natural light rainy showers, you curled up by the window overlooking the sky in an attempt to detect any abnormalities in the atmosphere to no avail. It was as if something was waiting to happen, you hadn't really felt anything this strong by your recollection and it only worsened as you left the cozy cafe. The weather was clear, hopefully it'd stay -

"Excuse me, sorry I just - you um - I was gonna say you have really beautiful eyes but I wasn't very smooth about it all..." The young man scratched the back of his neck out of embarrassment, flush adorning his features.

"Don't worry, I've heard more interesting ones." You offered a comforting laugh and he took it as a positive sign to continue.

"If you're willing to grab a coffee, I can try to do better but - wah, it wasn't supposed to rain?" He quickly pulled up his hoodie as you haphazardly directed him to the nearest shelter with an exasperated sigh - serves you right for actually getting hopeful, nonetheless the guy seemed nice enough.

This time, you shot a defeated glance to the sky as it reflected your darkening emotions, you were basically depression incarnate bringing bad weather wherever you went. Was it so much to ask for someone?

"Hey, you need an umbrella?" An unfamiliar voice asked, and upon turning to the handsome stranger the crack of lightning reflected the sensational spark in your veins.

"Trust me, I always carry an - no way." You instinctively reached into your bag expecting to find it in its normal place, but when you felt emptiness your stomach sickened - it was then you recalled it's perch in the cafe where you hadn't retrieved it from before leaving.

Oh my god, of all the times why now?!

The man must’ve observed the internal panic you were feeling, words failing you at this particular point and so he took the opportunity to provide reassurance.

"Hey, I'm catching the bus which is in 3 minutes so you can have mine once it arrives?" The male grinned, holding his umbrella over your dampening strands. No one, not one of your doomed encounters had even offered you their jacket or umbrella before...

Was it possible that Fate had subtly been keeping the local dickheads out of your life this entire time? Noooo, you’d missed out on some good ones. But why was this man so special?

"I'm catching the bus too, if it's okay can I stand under it with you until then please?"

"Yeah of course, I'm Dick Grayson by the way." He charmingly stated, shifting the umbrella before offering you his hand. With a soft smile, you shook it albeit with hesitance.

"(Y/n) (L/n), and I'm sorry about the storm."

"You say that like it’s your fault." Dick didn't hide his bemused chuckle, turning to find you looking rather guilty and decided to continue. With everything he'd seen, he wasn't one to dismiss such things so easily.

"But if it is, just ask the sun to shine or something."

"Oh really? You think that'll work - alright. Oi, I'm tired of your crap so can I have the damn sun already?!" Voice dripping with sarcasm, you ‘politely’ spoke to the sky.

"You've gotta ask nicely (Y/n), jeez." Dick playfully chided, wearing an amused smile as he did so.

"Please can I have the damn sun? How was that hm?" You flicked your smug gaze back to Grayson, his smirk only widening at your sassy attitude.

To both your surprise, the rain slowly ceased with the sun splitting through the dull clouds as to testify to your lack of faith.

"Well look at that, it seems like you've got it all sunshine.”

"Don't ever call me that again." Your once enamoured gaze shot to him, now mildly irritated with the petname.

"Aha you don't like it, I suppose you think it’s too bright for you.” He responded, clearly considering your more reserved demeanour in his assumption.

"We've just met, you're forbidden to give me nicknames until at least 20 minutes in."

"Hmm, then - hey, our bus is delayed..." Dick trailed off, looking at the monitor overhead with less disappointment than expected. 30 minute delay? Fuck!

"Okay I'm heading to the deli on the corner as I haven’t eaten lunch yet, would you like anything whilst I'm there? Y'know, as a thank you?" You took two steps toward the road, turning back to question the kind man before you.

But instead he surprisingly joined your side, falling into step with you and cheerily keeping up conversation considering you'll apparently be spending the next half hour together.

"Guess I'll be able to give you that nickname after all huh sunshine?"

You patiently waited for your food, the male beside you seemingly lost in quiet thought with hands in his pockets and gazed calmly up at the now crystal clear sky.

"I don't mean to sound cliché or corny but this whole situation has got me thinking about something - do you um, do you believe in fate?"

Don't read unless you have watched the new episode. But the whole time I watched it I was thinking how it pretty wild that your comic and the episode are basically the same.

OK I HAVE FINALLY WATCHED THE EPISODE AND BOY WHOO HOO HOWDY I’M GONNA INCLUDE MY THOUGHTS UNDER THE CUT BECAUSE I KNOW A FEW OTHERS HAVE YET TO SEE IT AS WELL AND I DON’T WANT TO SPOIL ANYTHING BUT WHOO LETS GO BABES

SO first off I’m just gonna say that I LOVED the episode. Really and truly honestly I did. I don’t think there were any major things that I didn’t like tbh. It was such a truthfully wholesome episode. And I’m actually happy with the amount of screen time we got with Scrooge and his insight with Christmas.

HOWEVER. I wish it was a 45-minute special. Because I think we could have absolutely dived MUCH deeper into the relationship between 1) Younger Donald and Dewey and 2) (the most important) DONALD AND DELLA. I mean like HOLY SHIT. I have to collect my thoughts together really quick cause I’m gonna explode just going on about the sibling relationship going on there so let me backtrack really quick and start from the beginning.

First and foremost. The set up to the episode was great. The kids getting ready for Christmas. Webby’s little hug to Huey and Huey’s patient little smile back to her. Louie’s X-mas list and his “let me explain”, like yes my son, own it. Donald being his best dad self, decorating and STILL playing guitar and singing awful carols at the top of his lungs like, we stan a good good duck dad!!! Literally, everyone is top notch just being great!

Then we get to plot. The ghosts are back in town. And they’re ready to get down and dirty and party and I LIVE for the idea that they were originally looking for a different Scrooge and that OUR Scrooge actually LOVES Christmas (And I’m so glad that we still don’t know why Scrooge has beef with Santa cause like, that’s potential for future X-Mas episodes and I’m all about having more mysteries to look forward to alright?) So we get it. Party on Scrooge lets go back in time!!!

So we’re 12 minutes in, more Scrooge stuff happens (Which I adore. Love that they brought back Goldy. Love that Young Scrooge is so passive about seeing Old Scrooge. LOVE that BEAKLY fucking FLIRTS with the GRIM REAPER SKJD;S GET IT GIRL LOVE THAT) And super double plot twist is that little jimmy cricket over here is actually like, kinda evil? Well not evil, but he’s a little-twisted buddy, which isn’t his fault, but he just wants to party and feels like everyone abandons him when once they find the true meaning of Christmas (being with family) Which Scrooge does. Which also, can we appreciate how fast it takes for Scrooge to be like, yeah I’m bored of this adventure stuff, can I just go home to my family now? It may have just been the episode time frame but IDK man, I feel like he’s growing from once being bitter to becoming that good old family man again. Good, good old man, I love him.

ANYWAY- NOW LETS GET DOWN TO THE JUICY HALF OF THE EPISODE AND THE HALF THE EVERYONE WANTS MORE OF INCLUDING MYSELF

OK So here we see Dewey hitch a ride on grims cloak and fall into let’s say around 25+ years in the past. The FIRST thing I noticed and the first shot we get is a mere parallel to the one we see when Scrooge first falls in the past. Its a shot of the mansion. But as opposed to the shot where Scrooge falls during a Christmas where his mansion is LIT the fuck up with lights and sounds and color and LIFE, Dewey sees it dark and practically dead, but still recognizably the Mc’Duck Mansion. One of the next shots we see takes place inside, and we see the mansion (remember this duck is a billionaire) with the wallpaper peeling and the walls cracking and hardly lit and it looks absolutely deserted and kinda uncared for which BREAKS MY HEART OK!!!

(But I’m so glad I at least got the scene right where Dewey’s first interaction with Donald is through his music and that Dewey could guess it was Donald through his Voice™!!! Also, should have thought of Bluey. That was SO much better than Deuteronomy. But oh well! Got the fake family part right! And the fact that Donald knew she was out back looking fo Santa and was trying to catch Santa for Scrooge. That last part wasn’t in the comic, but that was going to be the original idea for part 4 and FUCK YEAH I WAS ON A ROLL)

And ohhhh when Donald says this is the most confusing family! Ouufff that hit me so hard!!! Cause like, honestly, in canon, Donald is SO proud of his heritage and family line. He’s the only Disney character to really even HAVE a family tree, are you kidding me?

Also Dewey just Yeeting himself out a window with Donald’s guitar as Leverage was such a good idea I wish I would have thought of it and I’m SO ANGRY that I didn’t but I guess if I had then technically I would have been a mind reader or actually stealing from the show so good job me for NOT doing that but I at least got them Escaping out the window part down so WOOP FOR that!

ALSO DONALD JUST STRAIGHT UP LICKING THE TREE! WONDERFUL GOOD BOY AND LIKE!!! AND LIKE!!! OK I kinda played around with the idea that Donald kinda just does stuff without explanation and when someone asks we gives off these weird oneliners that don’t really answer the question of WHY he did/was doing the thing in the first place is something I absolutely live for and both his interactions within my comic and in the show are so parallel with one another that I’m actually mind freaked right now I want to scream I fucking love these kids ok?!?!?

So I could probably live for the next 30 years off of just Dewey and Donald just talking to each other like, it was probably only 40 seconds of conversation, but I lived for every second like it was the only thing that mattered!!! Just Dewey being so Hecking Excited to learn more about Della from someone willing to talk to him without any trauma™ and I LOVED how Donald never outrightly admitted that Della wasn’t Amazing or Awesome (Dewey said it at least twice when referring to Della) and just changed the subject. Like, true sibling love. (I would have also accepted if he had called her a nerd or a geek or something similar because they are siblings after all, like jeezus the whole episode was mostly about their fight like, anything is great, give me them sibling dynamics)

OK AND THEN THE MOMENT OF TRUTH

DELLA MY SWEET BABY GIRL APPEARS AND SHE IS MY EVERYTHING

OK honestly I was gonna draw her with a bit more messy hair but OTHERWISE SHE’S PERFECT. AND HER’S AND DONALDS IMMEDIATE BICKERING IS MY FAVORITE EVER. (And tbh her reaction to them NOT being Santa clause and honestly that entire net scene was also gonna be my reaction so don’t be surprised when you see that in upcoming continuation of my comic) (Also her calling Dewey a Dummy, is ACE)

So their whole fight scene going on. The whole Dumbella incident. You can just FEEL the sibling energy off of it. I ate that shit up SO FAST. I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT. (I WANT SO MUCH MORE OF THAT STUFF PLEASE DT CREW GIVE US A FLASHBACK EPISODE OF THE COUSINS I NEEEEEEED IT) If you’ve ever had a sibling then you KNOW. You know that look when Della got when Donald called her Dumbella. The No, not until you apologize she gave back. The FOR WHAT?? The endless back and forth that would have continued onward for a LONG time if they weren’t in impending doom. Man that’s the shit right there. That’s really all I wanted I could have had a full 45 minutes of just THAT right there. Just these kids being siblings.

(Also, Donald outing himself about the toothbrush and combat boots, he’s so gonna pay for that later I can feel it in my bones and I live for these moments kids)

AND THEN WE GET THE FIRST HEARTBREAKER OF THE NIGHT FOLKS, when Dewey figures out why Della’s so peeved at Donald (rightfully so) and it’s just!!! It’s just so good that all Della really wanted was to spend time with Donald and make a memory of it and catch Santa together and folks I would be lying to you and to God and to our Lord and savior Carl Barks if I said that I didn’t cry, these siblings are so good. (And the fact that Dewey also made a quick connection to himself, like, ohhh yeah I need to also be better and apologize to MY family and give MY Donald a hug when I get home)

NOW SHIT GETS REAL!!! The way Donald and Della land after getting free from the net. These kids were BORN for adventuring. This isn’t their first rodeo and this is what I want to see more of!!! Donald and Della as the fighting duo!!! (Dewey totally face planted my smol blue bean I love you) Della gets into fighting position ready to go, and Donald flips his hair back outta the way like so cool and nonchalantly LIKE DREAM TEAM SO COOL I LOVE THEEEEEMMMM!!! aND THEN when they find out the Wendigo is after Scrooge, They’re all like, “of, yeah, duh, Its always scrooge,” and then IMMEDIATELY GO AFTER HIM IN PERFECT FIGHTING SYNC LIKE THESE ARE 10-YEAR-OLDS AND THEY FIGHT LIKE THEY HAVE BEEN FIGHTING ON SCROOGE’S BEHALF FOR YEARS AND IM!!! (there’s so much fanfic potential here i’m screaming) And Dewey’s kinda just standing back like, Woah nelly, CAUSE LOOK AT THESE DUCK CHILDREN GO!!! LOOK AT MY LITTLE FIGHTING REBEL KIDS I ;KLD’KLASJ’F I LOVE THEM!!!

(Also, shout out to the last episode, in which we see that Donald kept the broken guitar under hammock all those years, he never could manage to through the thing away, i love this temperamental kid so much guys i’m crying again) But I’m glad we got to see Wee angry Donald!!! That was a fun thing I’m glad they put that in!!!

And now for the final! I’M glad Donald apologized rightly and straight away and wholeheartedly! That’s the good boy I know and Love! And Dewey going in for the hug!!! So sweet!!! But also!!! Della like, immediately figuring out that Dewey was from the future, I kinda like that! I wasn’t going to do it, but I like it! Love how smart she is and just how nonchalant they both are about it cause hey, have you MET their family? I like how they say Ducks, too. Not Mc’Ducks. Like, Scrooge is Weird and they do all sorts of crazy stuff with him, but you haven’t SEEN crazy till you’ve met the hick side of the family.

And then it’s like, just like that, they’re gone! And ouufff boy that was not the goodbye I was expecting but sometimes goodbyes are like that and that’s ok and I respect the out the DT crew took cause it flowed so nicely and well but boy did it hurt. (Can you imagine Donald and Della coming back with THEN Scrooge with this whole explanation to find nothing there and Scrooge being like???? Ack you kids leave me alone I hate Christmas as it is I don’t need you all playing tricks on me with fake Wendigos and family members from the futures when I have important things to do bah humbug or something and Donald and Della just have to live with this knowledge but at least they have each other and are closer for the better!!!) Because then Scrooge was there and THEN DEWEY WAS CRYING AND THERE’S JUST SO MANY EMOTIONS CAN YOU IMAGINE ALL THE EMOTIONS THIS KID IS GOING THROUGH RIGHT NOW AND HE JUST WANTS TO GO HOME AND SEE HIS UNCLE DONALD AND BROTHERS AND WEBBY AND JUST BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS AND ACK.

AND GOSH WAS THE DONALD DEWEY HUG JUST SO GOOD AS WELL AS THE DOGPILE LITERALLY GIVE ME ALL THE HUGS, I WANT THEM ALL THIS IS SUCH A WHOLE GOOD EPISODE!!! All in all, 10/10 Was very good. Could I have loved more of just about EVERYTHING? yes, but I can make my own content if I need to fulfill my wishes. Overall, there was nothing that disappointed me, which was so good. I wasn’t let down by the interpretations of the characters, the morals, or how the storyline went. Could we have made it into a 45-minute episode and just like, extended every conversation? Yes. But plot? Solid. Characters? Solid. Relations? Super solid. Did Sol cry? She did and she will again cause she just loves these good characters so hecking much!!! Donald is my all time favorite Disney character on the planet and just the fact that he gets so much love and attention and just all the beautiful backstory and rick history is such a beautiful gift that just keeps on giving!

Also, FULL Disclosure, Im gonna continue part 3, 4 and 5 of my version of how I thought this episode was gonna go. Simply because, well, I liked it. And I think you all will like it to.

6:30 am - opening

Working 6 o'clock shifts was never your cup of tea, but it gave you time to study or finish homework since most students aren’t even awake this early. Another pro is that this was probably the only time the coffee shop was quiet, it gets really crowded and loud when the coffee shop hits its peak - 12:00, when students are either finishing a lecture or going to a lecture to come by the coffee shop for a quick snack or drink.

The bell rings as the door opens and two male students - a brunet and black-haired one - arrive. “All I’m saying is that next time you desperately need a chai latte at 6 in the morning, a chai latte won’t be the only thing you’ll be desperate for,” the black-haired one warns, stuffing his hands into the pockets of his jacket to keep himself warm from the frigid Seoul air.

“Anyways,” the brunet turns towards you. “I’ll get a hot chai latte and he’ll get a chill pill.” You stifle a laughter after hearing his joke directed at the black-haired one.

“You know, I was gonna pay for our drinks, but after that joke, never mind,” the black-haired one says in a fake hurt manner.

“Alright, alright. He’ll get an Americano,” the brunet orders.

“And your names?” You pull out a sharpie and two medium paper cups.

“Daniel.”

“The most handsome man alive - Ong Seongwoo.” There are always two types of people in the world. You finish writing their names and begin to make their orders.

“One chai latte for Daniel and an Americano for “the weirdest man alive - Ong Seongwoo,” you say to the two guys sitting near the counter.

“You might need some ice for that burn,” Daniel laughs as he takes his latte.

Seongwoo takes his Americano and chuckles. “You’re pretty witty, aren’t you? I guess I’ll take that roast this time.” They wave goodbye and leave the cafe, but what you didn’t know is that you would see Seongwoo again later in the day.

9:00 am - thirty minutes before your shift ends

The cafe wasn’t busy when Seongwoo visited again. He enters the store, this time, with a backpack and water bottle in his hand.

“We meet again,” he says once he reaches the counter. He ponders the menu for a second before asking, “I don’t know what to drink, what’s your favorite drink here?”

You think about his question for a second before replying, “a vanilla latte. Why?”

“Because that’s what I’ll order. One medium hot vanilla latte, please,” he orders. Then he stops you. “And also, can I get your number? Because I like you a latte.” He winks.

“One iced vanilla latte for ‘weird guy’,” you say as you write his name along with a note on his cup. “It’ll be ready in a few minutes.”

Seongwoo leans his arms against the counter as you make his drink. “Your drink’s ready, weird guy,” you announce, sliding the drink on the counter. Before he leaves, you say, “Text me tonight.”

8:00 am - a week after meeting Seongwoo

“And so all I’m saying is that Jaehwan laugh will send chills down your spine, don’t ever meet him at night or else you won’t be able to sleep,” Seongwoo tells you as you make his latte. You chuckle softly at the odd stories he tells you about his friends.

“Seems like you’ve got some pretty interesting friends,” you say as you hand him his drink.

“Oh don’t even get me started on Sungwoon and his obsession with skincare products, but I guess that’ll be another story for another day.” He gets ready to leave before turning back. “Are you going to be working another night shift tonight?”

“Sadly, yes, I’ll end that shift at 9,” you reply as you wipe down the counter. He nods in response and bids goodbye.

9:00 pm - almost the end of your night shift

“I’ll be leaving first, see you tomorrow Y/N!” your coworker bids you goodbye and leaves you alone in the cafe. The managers and other workers had left minutes earlier, leaving you to close up the store. Before you turn off the lights, someone knocks on the locked doors.

“Seongwoo? What are you doing?” you ask when you let him in. He must’ve been running since it took him a few minutes to regain his breath.

“Let me walk you back to your dorm,” he finally says. That guy is surely weird, but you still let him since he did come all the way down here.

“You didn’t have to walk me, you know?” you voice as you two walk along the empty sidewalk.

“But I wanted to,” he answers, taking your backpack and carrying it by himself.

“This guy is really weird,” you mumble loud enough for him to hear.

“But this guy also has your backpack,” he yells as he begins to run. You yell out a ‘yah’ before chasing him down the street. By the time you catch up to him, he was already outside your dorm.

“Yo..u...run...real...ly...fast,” you huff as you try to catch your breath. Once you caught your breath, you smacked him on the shoulder and took your backpack from him. “I’m never letting you carry my backpack ever again.”

“We’ll see about that. I’ll see you tomorrow, Y/N!” He waves goodbye as he walks off into the direction of his own dorm.

“This guy,” you mumble as you head into the elevators. Your phone dings as a text from Seongwoo says ‘walking alone is boring, tell me something’. You roll your eyes playfully as you type a response whilst smiling.

8:40 am – cafe

It’s been a couple months and dozens of cheesy pickup lines after you’ve met Seongwoo and he’s come by to talk to you almost every day you were working, except for today.

The door bells ring as you look up, expecting Seongwoo to come in with a new story or cheesy pickup line, but instead, you meet Daniel. “He has a little cold, but he’s acting as if it’s the flu,” Daniel explains when you ask him about Seongwoo’s absence. Of course, Seongwoo would take everything up a notch or two.

“So, I’m guessing a vanilla latte for him?” you ask, already taking out the cup.

“What? He hates lattes,” Daniel says, clearly confused. You place the cup and sharpie on the counter. “He said that he rather listen to me talk about cats than drink a latte.”

“Then why does he always order that whenever he comes by?” You were confused, why would someone who clearly hates lattes buy a latte every day.

He shrugs. “How would I know? He’s always saying how he’s an Americano type of guy. Anyways, one hot chai latte and an Americano.”

When you hand Daniel the drinks, you ask, “Can I come by your dorm tonight? You know, to see Seongwoo, because he’s ‘super’ sick?”

“Oh, yeah sure. I won’t be in the dorm after 5:00, so I’ll just leave the key under the mat before I leave. Bye!” You wave goodbye to him and spend the rest of your shift pondering about Seongwoo’s odd actions.

6:20 pm - outside of Daniel and Seongwoo’s dorm

Just as Daniel had said, a spare key was hidden under the cat-themed rubber mat and you unlocked the door easily. You had finished your classes twenty minutes and went back to your dorm to clean up and make tea for Seongwoo.

“I thought you weren’t going to be back until 9,” Seongwoo utters, coming out of his room with a blanket over his back. He stops in his tracks when he saw you in the doorway instead of Daniel. “Y/N, what are you doing here?”

“So you like vanilla lattes, huh?” You raise an eyebrow at him and set down the cup of tea on the kitchen counter.

Seongwoo smiles sheepishly. “So I guess you found out.”

“You’re such an odd person. You come to the coffee shop every day, even though you don’t have to, and order a drink you utterly despise. Why?” you ask.

“Do you remember what I asked you the day we met?” he asks. You shake your head. “I asked you what your favorite drink was and you replied ‘vanilla latte’.”

“And?” You expected a better explanation than him telling you what your favorite drink is.

“’And?’ Y/N, why do you think that I visit you every day and buy a drink that I hate but you like?”

“I don’t know, that’s why I’m asking you,” you say.

“You might be witty, but you’re not smart, are you? I like you, Y/N,” Seongwoo confesses. “I’ve liked you ever since the day we met at the coffee shop.”

You two stare at each other for a few seconds before you spoke up. “You know I missed you when you didn’t come in today. I really like you, too.”

“Really? I’m really glad. Very, really, seriously, genuinely, absolutely, literally glad.” He starts chuckling in a relieved way and asks, “Can I kiss you?”

When you nod, he leans down while cupping face and–

ACHOO!

Oh right. He had a cold. Seongwoo turns into a new shade of red and scratches his neck. “We’re not even 10 minutes into dating and I’ve already made myself a fool in your eyes.”

“You’ve been a fool ever since I met you. I can’t believe I fell in love with a fool like you,” you croon. You hand him the cup of tea and drag him to the couch. “Until you get better, I won’t kiss you.”

Seongwoo groans and drinks the cup of tea in one shot. “Then I hope I get better fast.”

9:10 am - months after Seongwoo’s confession

“You know, I don’t really like baristas, but you’re kinda brewing on me,” Seongwoo flirts as you make his cup of Americano.

You roll your eyes while handing him his cup. Instead of taking the cup, he takes your hand. “So, are you free tonight?” he asks.

“Sadly, no. I have 2:00 lecture and a night shift,” you answer sadly.

He pouts while still holding your hand. “But I really miss you. I should go tell your boss to give you more days off.”

You roll your eyes playfully again. “I’ll be free tomorrow and we can hang out all day.” Seongwoo brightens immediately and nods.

“Alright, that’s a good plan.” He checks his watch. “I have a lecture to go to, I’ll walk you home later!” He lets go of your hand and waves goodbye.

A part of you already missed him as he turns away, with his backpack slung around him and a cup of Americano in his hand. Another part wished he kissed you goodbye, he must’ve forgotten to do it today. You return to cleaning your work area and you saw someone stop in front of you.

“I forgot to give you something,” Seongwoo says. Before you ask him what he had forgotten, he gives you a long kiss on your lips. “I love you. I seriously, sincerely, genuinely, realistically, truthfully, absolutely love you.”

its finally the day of the performance showcase

you have come 2 hours early to set up all the microphones, sound system, and light system

and you really can’t contain your excitement

you can’t wait to see all the different performances by your friends and classmates

while tweaking some final adjustments to the volume of mic and doing sound checks, you heard a knock at the door

you assumed it was daehwi, so you fixed your hair a bit

anticipating his bubbly entrance, you looked at the door eagerly, only to reveal ong at the door

“hi y/n, can i speak to you for a moment? it’s really quick”

you ushered him in, signalling with a hand wave

after closing the door behind him, he slowly approached you

“theres a stool right there, you can sit”

ong laughed a bit

“hah.. its fine, i prefer to stand”

“so, what would you like to tell me? that i’m a kid again?”

you noticed ong didn’t have his joking face on, or any sign that he was kidding at all

instead, keeping eye contact, he slowly drew nearer towards you

feeling intimidated, you were forced into your stool, with him towering over you

“um, ong? a-are you okay?”

with his warm hands, he reached for your hands that were on your lap

“look, y/n..”

your heart palpitates at an irregular rate from the sudden skinship between you two

“i’ve kept this from you for a long time, and this will probably ruin our friendship, obviously i don’t want that at all..”

you gulp at his words

something about his charismatic aura makes you feel so inferior

“but i can’t take your relationship with daehwi right now.”

{what? daehwi? what does he have to do with this?}

“look, y/n, i like you. ever since i saw you working backstage, you’re not like any other girl i’ve met”

your eyes widen

“and i admit, i’m jealous of daehwi, because he’s spending a lot of time with you, and i want you.. all to myself”

you had already become all red at that moment

he adjusts his shirt and waves to you as he opens the door to leave the room

after that incident, you just couldn’t settle your feelings

you could not even pay attention to your setup

you had to take a rest

{maybe a nap wouldn’t hurt right? it would only take.. 10minutes..}

and you drifted to sleep

after what seemed to be 10 seconds, you shook yourself awake

you tried to look at the watch on your wrist but it was all blurry

you rubbed your eyes

“its about 30 minutes to the start of the showcase”

you heard a voice to your left

it was daehwi, sitting next to you, with his head in his arms as well

shocked, your face felt like it was burning red

“i-i daehwi? what- how long have you been here?” you stuttered

daehwi giggled, making you even more flustered exposed to the sight of his cheeky smile

“about half an hour ago, i didn’t want to wake you up as you were peacefully sleeping,”

you slapped daehwi on the shoulder playfully, resulting in him laughing

“you should have just woke me up!! that was so embarrassing..”

“no, no, i mean.. you looked very at ease, it was soothing.”

he proceeded to look around the room, which spared you time to flush out the red in your cheeks

he spotted the puppy he gave you poking out of your bag

“oh! its the puppy i gave you!”

he reached for it, plays with it in his hands and puts it in front of his face, playfully moving its paws

this made you laugh

“what are you doing, daehwi?”

“woof woof!”

daehwi began barking behind the puppy toy, which made you laugh even more

daehwi took a peek behind the toy, only to see your dimples that show significantly when you laugh and your eyes that sparkle

this resulted in a soft pink showing on his cheeks

“woof woof! i love you y/n!”

your smile turned into shock

{did he say it from his perspective? or the dogs perspective? what is going on?}

daehwi seemed to realise what he just said as well, covering his face completely with the dog

curious, you reached out to move his hands only to reveal his face, with blush burning through his cheeks

he looked like a puppy as well

you couldn’t help but to ruffle his hair a bit

pulling back from him, he turned away from you

“hey, y/n..”

“yeah, daehwi?”

“what is seongwoo hyung to you?”

confused by the sudden question, you prompted the question with more elaboration

he pouted

“like, do you see him as.. more than a friend?”

this reminded you of what happened about an hour ago when ong came in to the room and.. confessed to you

this got you thinking

{do i really like him? i’ve been friends with him since freshman year, he stayed back after school and taught me how to do maths once, and he always helps me..}

to daehwi, however, he took the hesitation as a bad sign

before you could even say anything, he got up from his seat, laying the puppy down on the table

“yeah, i thought so..”

you were confused by his sudden remark

“im sorry, i have to go. the showcase is starting,”

“no, daehwi-”

and he was out of the door

your heart sank

you felt like you lost someone important

you spent the next few minutes thinking about your complicated love life (yeah its complicated af)

and soon, the showcase began

with performance after performance, you felt the showcase drag on

you felt that the universe was purposely prolonging the showcase, making you think more and more about.. them

this just made your heart hurt even more

when the drama performance began and ong went up on stage, you could not even smile at his silly antics like you normally would

soon enough, the entire showcase was over

performers were congratulating each other backstage

you had to do something about this

pushing your way through the crowds and crowds of people and props, you were looking out for the familiar silver haired boy

your determination to find him increases every given second

but you were stopped by ong

“hey, where are you going in such a hurry?”

he grasped both my shoulders

“i’m so sorry ong i-”

“do you.. have an answer yet?”

he looked at me with a hoping smile and his eyes shone

i looked up at him

“i’m sorry.. ong.. i only see you.. as a friend”

ong looked heartbroken

the sparkle in his eye faded away

you couldn’t help but to apologise more but ong was understanding

“i guess this is for the best, y/n. i can’t force you to like me anyway,”

you looked at the ground

“its fine, y/n, really. i won’t stop caring about you. anytime you need me, im always here to lend a shoulder okay?”

he smiled

i couldn’t help but give him a hug

“thank you so much ong”

you let go of him, and continue your search for daehwi

running out of the main block, you were starting to lose hope

until you see daehwi outside in the school yard sitting alone on the bench, staring up at the sky

you slowly approached him

“daehwi..?”

he turned to you, but all you saw was hurt in his eyes

“what?”

he snapped at you, hurting you as well

“look daehwi, i need to explain-”

“theres no need to explain anything. why are you chasing me anyway? shouldn’t you be caring about someone else?”

he looked away from you

you sat down beside him

“look daehwi, i have no idea what you are talking about, ong is but a friend to me”

he looked back down at his hands, his thumbs were fiddling with one another

“but.. but.. you’re so close to him. don’t you like him?”

he turned to face you

“no i don’t daehwi,”

he seemed a slight bit relieved as he looked at the bushes of flowers in front of you two

“actually, i like you,”

he turned to you, as his eyes widened

“a-are you sure? but seongwoo hyung is handsome, smart, and a way better option than me”

you held his hands, lifting them to chest level

“daehwi, stop persuading me to like someone else, or i’ll really leave~” you teased and stood up

“nonO y/n!!”

he exclaimed and held on tight to your hands, as his face turns salmon pink and looked downwards

you found it so adorable

you poked his cheek

“so cute..”

“y/n! im not cute, im a man..”

he hugged your torso while still sitting down, making you giggle

his face squished against your abdomen as you stroked his smooth and silver hair

“i like you too, y/n”

he looked up at you, smiling at you

his smile literally brightens your day

your relationship after that incident was full of fluff!

What things make you smile and all warm-fuzzy inside? CATS no seriously, i can have the worst day, but when i walk home and get to pet a cat on the way, i instantly better. i remember coming home after my last final exam all upset and a cat meowing at me and purring and wanting to cuddle with me and i couldn’t help but smile!

What things make you feel a bit sad (don’t push yourself to answer this one)? my current family situation, there’s a bit of drama and fights going on.

What things inspire you to grow? anything and everything, to be honest. there’s new things you experience and learn every single day. things you conquer and master just fine and mistakes you make and all of them shape you into knowing what to do next time a bit more.

The last song(s) that you couldn’t stop listening to? i can’t really think of anything right now, uhhhh, i’ve been listening to the trust me durarara!! ending lately again haha

5. Are you an introvert/extrovert/ambivert? What kind (are you a shy extrovert, super confident introvert, or perhaps a really confused ambivert :0)?: i’m an introvert through and through. i wouldn’t say i’m exceptionally shy nor super confident. i’m somewhere in between. it really depends, around my friends i’m outgoing and cheering and with certain strangers, especially if i know i have to talk with them for literally no longer than 3 minutes right now (i.e. a cashier or someone you walk past) then i’m polite and rather talkative. i just feel exhausted even after spending a lot of time with friends, though the time was enjoyable, but i need my alone time for sure.

What calms you down? the triangle breath! it’s my favorite method to use whenever i feel anxious, upset, angry, or just need to stop and pause for a few minutes. you picture a triangle in your mind (you can even trace it with your finger, or if you can draw it on a piece of paper). you take a breath in through your nose, tracing one side of the triangle. then you breathe out through your mouth, tracing the second and third side of it. other than that, listening to music, taking a nap, petting a cat, watching videos of cats or other cute stuff, sometimes playing a video game.

A character that you really relate to (perhaps you have similar personalities, or maybe you came from similar backgrounds)?: this is gonna sound trashy, but saeyoung choi from mystic messenger and there’s a story behind it too. my friends were playing it way before me and told me “there’s this character that looks just like you, you know nerd glasses, messy red hair, always wearing a baggy black hoodie. he even acts like you, making puns and using memes ALL THE TIME!” and it’s true lmao. also, kaneki ken to some extent? like i really resonate with his personality, the choices he makes, his thoughts speak to me, he’s pretty harsh on himself and goes through ways that are self destructive if he can help others with it.

hi i feel really dumb about dating and it’s making me pretty sad but also I found someone who feels the same and we’re probs gonna drink about it this weekend so that’s nice to look forward to

so like. in middle school my logic was that I feel equally attracted to guys as to girls so obviously I’m bi, right?? bc when i thought about it at the time like I could definitely see myself being close to girls and guys were just this mystery group but like sometimes i got crushes i think so that made the most sense

and then in high school i realized that the reason i’m equally attracted to guys and girls is that i’m actually not attracted to either haha whoops and i haven’t actually wanted to date any specific guys since like early elementary school (and does that really even count???) so i guess I’m ace and homoromantic bc that makes the most sense

so then i get to college and a couple people have asked me out in the past few years but mostly I avoid people who might make a move or like... act differently until I’m positive they don’t wanna ask me out anymore. and that’s fine. I don’t have time to figure out my issues with vulnerability and why the thought of sex freaks me out like nothing else. I have friends and i’m not too lonely and things are fine

but THEN last year i met this guy at band camp. literally within the week i was determined that this kid is gonna be my friend, god dammit. He’s kinda quiet, kinda solemn, but sarcastic and funny and really nice and willing to do a lot for everyone, including strangers and people who have done him wrong. he’s into magic and dnd and overwatch and pro-gaming but he also is very aware of the issues within the communities and he’s very outspoken about all kinds of equality. basically, he’s a funny liberal nerd who has good fashion sense and cares a lot about other people. i’m going off on a tangent because i’m dumb and i don’t give myself many opportunities to gush about him

so we become friends (it’s slow-going, there’s a lot of times that i’m worried he’ll think I’m hitting on him or being creepy, a few times where i feel like i overstepped because i’m an anxious idiot who doesn’t actually know how to pursue a friendship that doesn’t come naturally and he naturally assumes that people don’t strongly want to be his friend) and by the end of the season we’re close enough that we’ve made a group of four to room together for a band trip.

last spring i realized that like... i really wouldn’t mind dating him. it’s just a small thought in the back of my head. the thought of sex still terrifies me, that’s still out of the question, but i like, want to hold his hand and be able to tell him he’s cute and i love when he dorks out and i love that he has all these random history and mechanical knowledge that makes its way into our conversations. but i’m also 1000% down to stay friends, in fact that’s preferable because I don’t know the first thing about being in a relationship, and it took so long to get to being friends that there’s no room in my mind to think that he would want to date. we also talk a lot about his dating life because he’s had some bad relationships in the past and he doesn’t think he’s good at it and it’s something that’s on his mind a lot. but he’s mentioned enough about his dating preferences that i have sincere doubts that he’d like me enough to get over his dislike of dating friends. so we’re fine, and I stop thinking about it

i sublet his apartment from him for the summer and we see each other probably two weeks total out of the summer break; sometimes he comes back to the apartment for events going on, i go to his hometown for a festival, we meet somewhere in the middle to see a dci show. but we’re texting every day, usually something near morning time and a decent conversation in the afternoon/evening and it’ll go into the night when (usually) i fall asleep in the middle of a conversation that i’ll respond to the next morning. rinse, recycle, repeat. i haven’t enjoyed texting someone so frequently, like, ever. near the end of the summer we talk on the phone a couple times, because he’s more stressed about things and he has like an hour and a half commute around the same time that i get out of lab and it’s a lot easier to call than for him to use talk-to-text. it’s nice.

band camp this year was super stressful. we’re both on staff so we spend a lot of the day separately handling things and getting to know people and doing what needs to be done, then we’d get (second) dinner after that and chat. he doesn’t feel like he can fill the previous section leader’s shoes. i’m optimistic and i believe that the staff are rough but manageable. we spend about ten days going to bed at 1 or 2, waking up at 6 or 7, and spending the rest of our time running around and playing music and getting to know 10 new members and welcoming back the other 20 members of the section. it’s tiring; we both got sick during it and tbh i don’t think either of us are 100% over it

i start spending a lot more time at the apartment, even though i have a job at my dorm. at some point i’m pretty sure i was sleeping over 3 or 4 nights a week. i would go a whole weekend without stepping foot in my dorm. we start getting more touchy. it’s small at first, but it gets to the point where we’ll do that hand touching thing that i really like, where we just put our hands together and fiddle with each other’s fingers (i don’t actually know what to call it, it’s just me fiddling and twitching but with the bonus of human contact) or he’ll give me a shoulder rub because i seem stressed. but also sometimes he’ll pull away suddenly or i’ll try to give him a shoulder rub and he’ll make a joke “you know how i feel about being touched” and he’ll move away. and i do know how he feels about being touched: it’s something that, other than some casual touches (a hand on the shoulder, that sort of thing), he only does with someone he’s dating. but also he’s initiating a lot of this, so maybe he’s branching out from that ideology? or maybe he’s interested in me? or maybe he just doesn’t know how to tell me that he’s super uncomfortable with me touching him and he really would like us to go back to not touching??? so i spend a few days stressing that i’m being a mega creep before he starts a convo about it and explains. us being touchy is nice but he feels like he’s trying to have his cake and eat it too because it’s something he’d only do with someone he’s dating and sometimes he does it and it’s like 30% unconscious and that wigs him out

so obviously the answer is that we (essentially) stop touching and that could be that but i’m dumb and i want to double check so i ask if it’s because he doesn’t want us to date and he says yeah, us dating really isn’t in his plan and sorry if that’s hurtful, and i could also leave it there but i’m like, a super masochist and i like being on the same page with people so i tell him that us dating has been a possibility on my mind and that i’d like to take a few days to like back off and firmly tell myself that we aren’t dating and we won’t be dating and to chill tf out, but i wanted to let him know that’s what i’m doing so i’m not like, backing out of being friends

and we’re both miserable for a week, bc when i try to go back to business as usual he’s acting weird and distant and my immediate assumption is that he decided that i am, in fact, a creep and he no longer wants to be friends with me but dammit, he could at least tell me that instead of looking sad and distant and not talking to me unless it’s band related

so i give him a couple days of that, and we do a campus scavenger hunt together because we had signed up for it before everything crashed on us and we were going to pretend everything is fine, god dammit, except it was awkward and he was sad the whole time and i was hurt and frustrated, but we won like 5th place or something so that was cool

and once the weekend’s over i text him something vaguely along the lines of “so are we still friends or nah” and he tells me he’s been isolating himself and he feels like everyone is better off without him and he needs to stop holding me back and nobody needs him so he should just let us all go. like he’s not suicidal but he’s depressed and bad at realizing people like him. so i go to the apartment and for the first time in like six months i knock on the door because i told him i was coming over but i also feel like he has a right to yell at me to go away through the door if that’s what he’s feeling

but he lets me in and he tells me he should just get out of my way because i don’t need him and i tell him that he’s right, i don’t need anyone. this isn’t about need. but i sure as hell enjoy having him as a friend and i’ve been miserable this past week when that was taken away from me, and he just told me he’s been miserable too, so why the fuck should we both be miserable when we could just stop being dumb and be friends again

but also now we’re both miserable (for external reasons, mostly) and i don’t want to stop hanging out so much because i feel like we both need it, but i also need to stop because it doesn’t seem to bother him but it sure as hell has me confused because i can’t stop thinking that we might as well be dating but if we were dating then i’d actually get to hug him and cuddle and tell him i love him

and i feel like he doesn’t really have other people to hang out with and i don’t really feel like i have that either and maybe that’s all the more reason for us to back off a little bit more but i don’t want to. i’m very weak and tired and i just want someone to hug me for 30 minutes and it’s not going to be him and i don’t think it’s going to be anyone rn so i’m just constantly sad and in need of a hug that will never come

i think i need to have another good sob session on someone but i’m fresh out of people that i’m comfortable doing that to, both in the sense that i don’t want to be vulnerable enough to cry on anyone and that the one person i would be willing to do that to is someone who doesn’t need to hear all about how i can’t get the fuck over him

I need help choosing my first car. Mustang vs Mustang vs MINI?

I will be buying my first car soon and I have a few choices to pick from. I'll have to pay for everything myself (insurance, fuel, maintenance, etc.). I do not want to get a salvage title for the vehicle and I told him that the original estimate given by the agent #1 was $1500, not $1800 which is less than 75%, to which he responded I believe we still had some items open when you got that estimate . he will check it and call me back. 1. Can I just lower the estimate to original $1500 so I would not have to get a salvage title for the car? Any law that allows me to lower it? 2. Can I Sue My Auto Insurance Company?

In 2005, as part of our divorce agreement, my ex and I decided to keep the same auto insurance but under separate policies. We had been with this company for years. My policy was on auto pay meaning that the payments were taken directly from my account. He walked in to pay his. About 6 months after the divorce, I was pulled over for a routine traffic stop and was told I was driving an uninsured vehicle. Without insurance, my registration was also invalid. Both tickets totaled 1K. My car was taken into impound. I checked and found the officer was correct. On good terms with my ex, I told him what happened. He said for the past 6 months, each time he went in to make a payment, the girl HIS was already paid. Realizing what had happened. They were applying my payments to his automobile. I was furious. I notified the agent who initially did not want to accept blame, but since the payments were automatic and my account number was on each payment they took, they were responsible. The error was compounded by the fact that the cancellation notice went to HIS address (how dumb was that!) So I had no way of knowing that I was cancelled. I was without a car for 2 weeks and lost my job. After much haggling and many sleepless nights of wondering what to do without a job or a car, the insurance company finally admitted blame, paid the impound fees of $1,250.00. The agent also said they would handle the 2 tickets totaling 1K. FAST FORWARD TO 2010 in my state, the county did a scofflaw sweep and I was summoned to court with over 5 thousand other delinquent drivers to address unpaid tickets. The order was come to court by April 30th or be arrested. Realizing this had to be a mistake, but fearful of the law, I stood in line for over 5 hours in blazing heat, then sat in court another 5 hours waiting for my day in court. I was immediately threatened with arrest because the 2 tickets were not paid. Up to that moment, I had no idea the insurance company had not paid the 2 tickets. This time, not only was my insurance and registration cancelled, my license was suspended due to the age of the infraction (5 years). In front of the judge, I called the agents' office only to be told by the secretary that they had no intention to pay the ticket. Paying to get the car out of impound was enough. When the judge heard this she was shocked and let me off with a promise to pay in 5 days. She made me promise not to drive. With no way to get home but drive, I took a chance, and was pulled over. The officer informed me that due to the vast number of outstanding cases, tags bearing our county name would be targeted for a while (talk about a police state!). I showed him my documents from the court and headed home. This is a nightmare. Would I have a case if I filed suit against my insurance company for failing in their fiduciary responsibility to a 16 year client in good standing? By the way this company is one of the largest in the country.""

I came to north Carolina at the beginning of August from FL to stay with my aunt while I got my finances in order and she recovered from her back surgery. I plan to stay here until a bit after the new year. When I moved, I arranged to have my mail forwarded while i am here. Also around this time, I started searching for a new insurance provider because my rate had gone up with geico. I decided on progressive. When signing up for progressive, I signed up with my Florida drivers license number and my new nc mailing address. A couple of months later I received a letter from the state of Florida saying that they were notified my geico insurance policy was cancelled and to provide new proof of coverage. I went online and provided the information but apparently made an error when selecting the insurance company name. I accidentally selected protective insurance company instead of progressive. I was made aware of this error when I received a license suspension letter yesterday. Since then I have notified the state of Florida Of the error. I then received notice that my insurance was still not acceptable because Florida requires that if I have a florida registration, i must have a Florida policy. I called my insurance who confirmed that although they provide Florida coverage, I was under a nc policy even though I provided them with a Florida drivers license number since my mailing address was currently nc. I have had no lapse in coverage, but my insurance company cannot switch it back to florida until I am living there again at the beginning of the new year and can provide a valid address of where I will be living. I do not know where I will be living when I get back yet because I will have to find a new place to move into. Does anyone have any advice as to what to do in this situation?
