Theories on Kris’s soul and Ralsei’s identity

Hey everyone! This is not my usual thing, but after thinking on it a whole bunch, I decided I wanted to fully write out my theory/backstory explanations based on the last two short Deltarune comics. I usually express theorizing through fanworks rather than just talking through it, but since it's still stuck in my brain even now I figured it'd be fun to also just describe it all. I hope you all find it interesting! Who knows what future chapters will bring us, and anything can (and likely will!) happen, but as of right now I'm pretty convinced this is how things are with Kris and Ralsei. It's long and there's lots of screenshots included, so check below the read more for everything. And huge thanks to DemoPhone for getting all these screenshots for me!

So, Kris is adopted by the Dreemurrs at a young age. As the only human in a town populated by monsters, they already stick out significantly. Considering Toriel checked out a book from the library on how to care for humans multiple times, the Dreemurrs were likely going through a big learning curve with Kris, too.

Kris is not just different physiologically from everyone, but they’re quiet and weird, often mischievous, and just don’t fit in. As a kid, they wear a headband with red devil horns to try and fit in with their adoptive family, and especially to emulate their older brother Asriel, who seems to be everything that Kris isn’t.

He’s popular, kind, well-loved by the town, and is always willing to make friends and do the right thing. Despite how different they are, the two kids clearly care for each other, and Asriel in many ways is Kris’s anchor to this town and this life.

Growing up, the Dreemurrs are friends with the Holidays, and the four kids spend lots of time together. Dess appears to be the more bold and outgoing of the two Holiday girls, but is tempered by Asriel’s responsible nature. Everything between them is going well until one day, when out exploring in the woods south of town, they come across the hidden bunker, and something goes wrong. It’s not clear yet exactly what it is…but it resulted in Dess going missing. Of the four kids, Dess seems to be bold, Asriel responsible, Kris mischievous, and Noelle fearful…so it seems likely that Dess and Kris investigated something in the bunker that the other two stayed away from. Kris witnessed or may have even been involved in what happened to Dess. Dess currently appears to be lost in a dark place, perhaps a place between Dark Worlds, perhaps “stuck in the code” of the game itself. Whatever it is, Dess has gone missing and may even be presumed dead by her family, and Kris witnessed it and may feel directly responsible. This is why they’re still nervous around the bunker, and perhaps even why they’re apprehensive about the appearance of the dark world in the school supply closet.

Dess’s mother, the Mayor, is not going to blame the little kids for what happened…however, she IS going to place responsibility on Asgore, who was chief of police at the time and clearly should have been watching the kids more carefully. Asgore loses his job, and as things slowly deteriorate between the Holiday and Dreemurr families, he also loses his marriage.

The kids stop hanging out together so often, and when they do, it’s more strained. Kris will be playing with Noelle when they stop, getting hit with the memory of what happened, and wander off to the piano to try and play out their feelings.

Kris builds up years of these feelings…underlying guilt for messing up the friendships and even marriages of the monsters that adopted them. Their interests are weird, their habits are offputting, and they can often only express a desire for attention through pranks.

Despite the fact that the monsters in the town act friendly towards them, they still feel outcast and misunderstood. Their popular and beloved brother Asriel is their one solid anchor to everything, and Kris often wonders “wouldn’t things be easier and better if I was just like him?”

But eventually, Asriel gets old enough and leaves for college. Kris is left alone in the town with all their feelings, but no anchor. In some ways, it gets worse, as the other townsfolk continue to talk about how great Asriel is with him absent. And Kris agrees with them…but that doesn’t help at all how they feel.

To top it off, a new girl arrives in the town, who immediately presents herself as a troublemaker. She seems to have some deep problems of her own, perhaps stemming from her own rough upbringing, and takes out her aggression on Kris, the only human in the town. Despite the bullying, Kris takes it all in stride, even amusement. Susie isn’t saying anything about them that Kris doesn’t already believe about themself. If anything, Kris admires how unapologetic Susie is about her behavior, and sees a kindred spirit in her. They’re both outcasts, after all, with gross and offputting interests. And it is pretty funny how clearly Noelle is infatuated with Susie, too.

And yet, Susie doesn’t seem interested in actually being friends now, and while Susie is admirable, she’s not helping Kris’s long-standing guilt, loneliness and depression. They start resenting how things have gone. They start looking for unconventional solutions. Perhaps they try the church, but the church doesn’t seem to have answers, so they look elsewhere. Maybe things would just be better if someone else was running their life. Maybe someone bigger than them can fix these seemingly insurmountable problems. They start looking up how to do magic online. How to summon demons, stuff like that.

When that doesn’t work out, they turn to the local goth girl for help. After all, they’ve done occult spells with Catti before…protection spells for Noelle; something to ease Kris’s worries so that Noelle doesn’t suffer from the same misfortune Dess did.

One night, Kris asks Catti to perform a spell to summon a spirit. And surprisingly…something seems to happen. Kris is suddenly confronted with a strange figure who seems to be the devil. The figure says that it can bring Kris what they want: a spirit that can possess them and potentially even solve all their problems. But the figure requires something in exchange: their soul. Kris is at first reluctant, but the devil figure promises that the arrangement is only temporary: they’ll get their soul back when the spirit is no longer possessing them. So Kris agrees, and gives up their soul in exchange for another one.

The deal supposedly goes over, but Kris finds that it doesn’t seem like anything has changed once the spell ends. They’ve gotten a new soul, but it doesn’t seem to do anything. If anything, everything becomes harder. They start operating on autopilot…saying very little, only doing what’s required of them, and sleeping for huge amounts of time.

The joke around town now is that they seem like a walking corpse. Sure, they’re not dead, but it often kind of looks like it.

Maybe this spirit was just a total dud? Maybe that devil cheated them out of their own soul after all and they didn’t get anything in return. They try more than a few times to remove the new soul on their own, in the hopes that maybe taking it out by force will get them their own soul back. They find that they can remove the red soul with great effort! However, without it, they’re even slower and it’s even more difficult to move or act in any way. Removing it at least grants them a small degree of agency, and it seems to prove that their own soul is definitely around somewhere, because they’re still alive. But they can’t go for too long without putting the new red soul back in, because moving without it is such a strain.

Meanwhile, Kris’s request for something to possess them has worked, just not in an obvious way. The player experiences the passage of time very differently than the game characters they’re playing as, after all. To the player, they’ve suddenly gotten an invitation from an unknown character that they suspect they recognize from another game they’ve played. They don’t know what the invitation is for, but they’re more than ready to find out, even if it means downloading an unknown and potentially shady “survey program.”

Conveniently enough, this invitation and download become available on Halloween. A bit of an odd day to choose if you want a lot of people to download and play your game right away, since it’s a major holiday and most people already have plans. However…Halloween is a great time to summon a demon.

And to Kris, they wake up one morning exactly a week before their brother is scheduled to return home for a visit, and suddenly find that something else is moving their body for them. That new soul wasn’t a dud after all.

No time to even get really used to suddenly being physically possessed, as Kris and that school bully they admire just go to pick up some missing school supplies and get swept up into a strange place that Kris feels might be distinctly familiar. Once there, they meet someone else who, strangely, already knows who they are: Ralsei.

While Kris has been shambling around town with their player soul not in use, their own soul still needs to be kept in good condition. You can’t just leave a human soul out on its own for a long period of time. It at least needs some kind of container…a vessel. And the devil figure works out a perfect vessel for it…an object close to Kris, that they have a lot of sentimental value around. Something that symbolizes their desire to fit in with their family, and be just like their brother. Kris might have given it to the figure willingly, or it might have been taken without their knowledge, but the result is the same.

But hey…why not make things even more interesting? A dark fountain can bring objects to life in their own dark world. What happens if you were to take an object currently carrying a human soul, and bring it to life with a dark fountain? What would it look like if Kris’s soul, filtered through an object that symbolizes their desire to be just like their beloved brother, was given its own form and identity?

You get Ralsei. A “lonely prince” who looks an awful lot like Asriel, but seems to more closely match Kris’s age and stature. He seems to be more like a remixed version of Asriel than identical to him. He already knows who Kris and Susie are, and he knows where things are located in the light world…because Kris knows all that.

He’s able to travel between different dark worlds without being affected by them the way other Darkners are, because he carries a Lightner’s soul.

While it’s unclear if he is talking directly to the player, just to Kris, or to both, he is at least aware of an entity distinct from Kris, since he names the castle town after the player. It would certainly make sense for him to be aware of the player’s presence and influence because he was a part of that whole exchange between souls in the first place. There’s even implications that Ralsei is, perhaps, communicating with Kris in ways that don’t involve speaking aloud to them. When asking Kris to pick up the items from the classroom, he uses parentheses, which typically seem to indicate a character’s thoughts rather than dialogue.

Since the player is able to read other characters’ thoughts, Kris can even respond to them if no one is speaking.

If parentheses for Ralsei indicate thinking rather than speaking, he is perhaps aware of how to communicate with Kris and/or the player in ways that other characters won’t hear…or perhaps is only even capable of it at all because he has Kris’s soul.

He is always deferring to Kris, even when Kris makes questionable choices. While he’s eager for friends, he seems desperate for Kris’s approval in particular, and takes great pains to not upset them…or allow other things to upset them. He seems to be confident in who Kris is, but struggles more with his own identity.

For Kris, seeing their own wish to be like their brother come to life, and then to have the spirit possessing them keep directing them to hug him…well, it’s kind of awkward.

Just to speculate on the future, if it is true that Ralsei has Kris’s soul, this has the potential for some serious drama, and even setting Ralsei up as an antagonist without him being generically “evil.” Ralsei hasn’t had contact with anyone before meeting Susie and Kris. However, as they go on adventures together, he’s meeting lots of new people and gaining new perspectives. He’s steadily growing more independent from Kris, and establishing his own identity apart from them. What happens if Ralsei comes to the conclusion that Kris was right to trade him away all along…that not only does Kris not need him, but that he’s just fine without Kris? That he, perhaps, prefers being Ralsei to being Kris’s discarded soul?

Considering the player can’t keep playing the game forever, and Kris really can’t be left the rest of their life with a nonfunctional soul that leaves them on eternal autopilot, they’ll have to get their own soul back eventually. And after several chapters of the player themselves getting really attached to sweet and friendly Ralsei, that opens up the potential for some truly heartwrenching conflict.

the "Chara is Evil" theory is actually hilarious in hindsight.

Undertale, a game known for its depth, characters, and worldbuilding, a game in which no character in two dimensional and are proven to not be time and time again, has a flat villain whose only motivation is bite bite murder kill kill bite?

are you SURE?

Like, Asgore's first mention is from Toriel, who paints him as this literal monster who is only out for blood. It instills this dread in you throughout the game. But, everyone outside the Ruins talks highly of Asgore, as if he were the best, most wonderful person they've ever met! So now you're just confused? Is he good or evil? So when you find him and realize he's a good person who has done evil things, you realize that Toriel knows something the others don't. That being the divorce fghdsak

Papyrus is just the Skelator, funny doofus archetype who is supposed to be over the top dramatic and still fail at every turn no matter how much he learns. You get that impression immediately. While most of that is true, he is far from a doofus. He is probably the smartest person in the Underground (much to the fandom's chagrin). He is just Full Of Love and wants to do right by everyone, which leads him to make really interesting choices.

Sans is just the lazy, laid back supportive but deceptive older brother until you realize he knows about the different timelines, and suddenly he becomes a whole other level of complex.

Undyne is just a murder hobo until you learn that she just loves her friends and loves her neighbors and loves her people with her whole heart and will do anything to keep them safe.

Alphys is just the geek nerd until you learn about her guilt, trauma, and depression.

Toriel is just the tutorial character until you learn her backstory.

Napstablook is socially awkward until you realize their deep loneliness.

Monster Kid is a fanboy (gender neutral) with a deep underlayer of imposter syndrome and inadequacy.

Shyren is just shy

Burger Pants is stuggling hard.

All of the monsters rely on that feeling of hope, and their King's war is based on restoring it.

And last but not least, Flowey was the villain whose only motivation is bite bite murder kill kill bite. HE was the one with 2D motivations, anime speeches about you being weak, talking about being a god, stuff of the like. He is largely written off.

Until you learn his true identity. Learning that Flowey is ASRIEL suddenly gives all of his actions new light. Learning about his lack of a soul, how he tried to do good, but got bored, and he couldn't feel love. He is a reflection of you, the Player, who must be committing Genocide in order to even hear him talk about this. Flowey suddenly becomes one of the most important, deep, and thought-out characters in the game.

and we thought Chara was a 2D villain.

Undertale/Deltarune FanComics

I put out a post for some UTDR comic recs, and I've decided to compile them all here, both so that I can easily access them as I make my way through, and also so that anyone else who is interested in it can also check it out :D I've provided brief descriptions next the ones I could uh quickly find descriptions for or knew personally, so if you notice one you know that's lacking a descriptions, tell me and I'll add it.

Also if you think this list would benefit from further categorization in some way, let me know! Right now it's a bit of a mess and overwhelming lol.

hello I do not know anything about Undertale but I am interested in hearing about your children! I think I am in a similar situation with Little Nightmares, haha.

OMG THANK YOU I LOVE YOU!!! i can let this information out without feeling too annoying because now i'm answering an ask so it's fine !! it's going to be so long I'm so sorry, but what are we on tumblr for if not to rumble about our interests, right? also i hope the fact you don't know undertale doesn't make this too confusing !! also spoiler warning i guess ??

general world building:

the humans have forgotten about the monsters and magic, they are only remembered in myths and legends (i made a cool thing about it)

all of the humans had a similar experience to us playing the game, they learned about the monster history, made friends and eventually kinda gave up in hope to help the monsters

right so, first human: chara!

chara is already in the game, but I think i made them the richest backstory

"chara" is a nickname, their name is actually character. they were bullied for that name and they really hate it, wishing they could get any other name (like what happens at the start of the game!)

they were named character because of an old tradition to name kids based on the first word you see in the spell book that runs in their family. however the book is encrypted, and their parents ended up on a random character they couldn't read.

they didn't get along with the other kids in school, and were trying to study their behavior so they can understand them better by taking notes of what they said and drawing their facial expressions (the way text is shown in the game!)

eventually, they came to the conclusion they don't like the other children and don't want to be like them, so they decided to learn how to push them away (by making scary faces!)

always get red eyes in photos

next: patience soul! i'll be honset i wrote these stories 6 years ago, i think everyone had names but i don't remember them anymore, so all the children will now be called their soul trait gbfdjfd

patience was a girl from chara's village, and chara's only friend! or well chara was patiance only friend. their parents were friends so when they hung out patience and chara were left to play together. patience liked chara as she was home school and didn't get to play with other kids, while chara was mostly annoyed about the whole thing and felt like patience friendship wasn't genuine, as they were forced into hanging out

she really likes cute things, like dressing cute and putting on make up! she introduced chara to make up which ended up helping chara make scary faces (such as melty face look)

she wanted to be a Dr when she grows up, hence the toy knife (meant to be like a surgery knife for children) and the bandages at the flowey fight

when chara left to the mountain, patience just waited for them to come back. they waited and waited, until asriel got to the village. only then they decide to go to the mountain. they found out chara died very shortly after getting underground, and so lost their determination and was killed easily.

they got to the underground right after asgore declared war against humanity, asogre probably hoped it will take a while for a human to arrive but one fell down and was killed really soon! this just made more sense to me for why toriel left without talking asgore out of it, and why she hates him so much. things escalated really quick

bravery soul!

youngest brother of like 5 older brothers and a single dad.

his brothers always bullied him for being soft and girlie (I also considered him being afab but im not sure !)

got the worn boxing gloves his dad used to have when he was young, they have big holes and patches

also maybe his mom died when he was born, and she was also a red head like him, which is part of the femininity stuff ?

as part of a prank, his brothers dared him to go to the mountain and come back to prove himself thinking he won't go, but he did!

didn't stay with toriel because he was in a rush to get home to prove his brothers he did it

integrity!! this is where me not being a native english speaker gets me because I'm not sure what integrity means and it ruined their backstory a bit! I used to treat it as "being true to yourself" but now I think it's more about staying true to your morals, which is a bit different oops !

amab and nonbinary! their mom used to be a ballet dancer and now is a ballet teahcer

they were the only male student, and were jealous and hurt that all the girls got to wear tutus but them, and thought it wasn't fair

they sneakily stole their mom old dusty tutu from the attic and were secretly practicing in their room, until they were caught

they felt so guilty and ashamed that they ran away from home to the mountain

toriel reminded them of their mom, and how worried she must be, so they didn't stay with her

perseverance!!

kindness' little sister!

while looking for books in the library, she stumbled upon and old and encrypted spell book (yes this is the book that was in chara's family!) after a lot of hard work she learned how to decrypt it using some context clues, and with it she learned about the monsters and magic and even a few spells!

when she tried talking about her findings nobody took her seriously, and people at her school made fun of her

even her brother was trying to be supportive but didn't really believe her, which prompted her to run away to the mountain to prove everyone the monsters are real and she's right

in the underground, she was able to use her spells! like the unused spell option in the original battle menu! she also befriended Gerson as they shared their love to history, and she gave him her notebook and glasses (as they were fogging up too much to see out of anyway) as a parting gift! (maybe she also casted a duplication spell on them, considering the infinite supply at his store?)

also she didn't stay with Toriel because she was focused on getting back home to show everyone she was right at that stage

kindness!

perseverance older brother !

honestly, he's just a cutie that likes to cook! will often make and food just for sharing with his classmates

when perseverance was sad that nobody was taking her seriously, he went to make her favorite food to cheer her up. she wasn't answering him for a bit and assumed she just locked herself in her room because she was sad, so he gave her some time until eventually he decided to come in to check on her and realized she ran away through the window

he was probably a few hours behind her on the adventure, both as he gave her time, and he checked up a few places before going to the mountain, and he was more lost and confused than her when it came to exploring (also he was wearing flip flops still, which slowed him down)

didn't stay with Toriel because he was determined to find his sister, but then he found out she sacrificed herself, and decided to join her (both for the monsters and for her sake out of guilt)

justice!! she's the only one I know their name! her name is mustard !! just like undertale yellow I was tempted to call her clover based on the "clover" shooting from her gun at the flowey fight, but actually according to the file name this is not a clover but a flower! and mustard has a yellow flower with 4 petals and it's cute !!

moved to the village near the mountain with her family only recently, and this was their first Halloween in the town! and actually her first Halloween ever, as where she used to live they didn't celebrate it

she loves cowboys ! her grandpa was an actor in old cowboy films, he passed before she was born so she only know him through these films, and thinks he was a real cowboy

the gun she has is his old gun, that she got from her dad for her costume

she saw a group of bullies picking up on a younger child and trying to steal his candy, so she jumped to protect him saying she has a gun, but that didn't go very well as that terrified the small child and made them ran away. she tried to ran after them but ended up getting lost on the mountain

didn't stay with toriel because she wanted to return to her parents who must have been worried for her

lastly we got frisk!! i didn't get much background for frisk but more like a bunch of headcanons about them

probably homeless? and honestly, might have hit their head when climbing the mountain and suffer from amnesia, so they don't know their backstory either so it's fine!

really need glasses! explaining the small eyes and the whole game being pixelated and the small screen size, they just can't see

when asriel said frisk and chara have similar fassion choices he didn't mean like the striped shirt (as all children wear striped shirts) but like the way they have an under layer, cargo shorts for more pockets (also inventory space has to do with how many pockets you have!!) and boots !

fell underground the same age chara did, so like 10? and chara spent like a year underground

went to the mountain because it was some sort of a calling? they didn't really understand why but they felt like they needed to

also this is a headfanon but I'm for frisk and chara being far relatives!

wooo we did it all humans !!! now some extra general stuff:

the red soul's trait is love!!

all the humans came back to life after the asriel fight!!! and their body were fully healed and fine! Asgore probably bandaged them as he buried them in the coffins, and when they woke up (and opened chara's coffin seeing it's empty) they left their bandages there explaining the mummy wrapping that appear

considering it's been decades since some of them fell down, they had no where to go after this, and were all adopted by toriel! which also motivated her to open the school ! this idea of all of them being roomates and living together is what sparked all of this in the first place, i just really wanted to have a blog where people ask me things as them

at the end of the flowey fight, all of their soul traits "evolved", as seen with the color change when you ask for help, completing their character arc. all of them were helping flowey as part of their flaw, but frisk calling for help helped them change. for example, just as patience was always waiting to see what will happen, she wasn't trying to stand up to flowey, but she learned to be more brave and act! bravery learned to stop complying to every dare he gets and stand for himself and so on.

I don't know if you have a romance planned for My Bitter Half but I really hope it's Enid.

Hear me out: Y/N Addams is crushing hardcore in Enid but, like his sister, does not really speak from his mind or his heart. So all he can do is be happy as Enid chases after Ajax even though it's painful to paint a smile on his face because she's his best friend and he has to he happy for her regardless of how he feels.

I did plan on Enid ending up being the hall of sunshine in (Y/n)’s dark world, but yes much like his sister his ability to speak his feelings is, lacking.

My Better Bitter half, Part 4

“So, you two have aspirations correct? An author? And actor?” She says, Wednesdays novel seems to be fast growing, and (Y/n)‘a infamous career of acting has head him to be a prodigy of the stage.

“I understand you've written three novels about a teen girl detective, Viper De La Muerte.” Kinbott says

“Can you tell me about her?”

“Viper is smart, perceptive, chronically misunderstood.” Wednesday said.

“Any luck getting your work published?”

“Editors are short-sighted, fear-based life forms. One once described my writing as gratuitously morbid, and suggested I seek psychiatric help.”

“Hmm.” Kinbott notes the info and jots it down.

“Ironic, isn't it?” You say.

“How did you take that?” Kinbott said.

“I sent her a "thank you." I've always been open to constructive criticism.” Wednesday said, only god knows what fate had ended for the citric.

“I'm glad to hear that.” Kinbott said, “And (Y/n), your performance as the star actor of “Hamlet” and “Death of a Salesman.” Were amazingly well received.” Kinbott says, “But your… Performances We’re always a bit, overwhelming in energy.”

“I see that as an absolute win.” You say.

“Good Because I was sent manuscripts and videos as part of both of your psych evaluations.

The relationship I found most intriguing was that of Viper and her Brother, Asriel.” Kinbott Said, you slowly turn to Wednesday, who’s eyes quickly divert from your gaze. “And (Y/n), I watched a Stellar performance of yours in “The Piano Lesson.” Which tells the story of a Brother trying to convince his sister of selling a piano, and it seems your performance was, very impactful.” She says, the siblings grow uncomfortably quiet.

“Why don't we dig into that? Part of this journey requires us going to uncomfortable places emotionally.”

“I don't travel well.” Wednesday begins.

“I get car sick.” You say.

“Would you mind if I use the powder room first?” Wednesday says, and Kinbott nods, Wednesday leaves to the room and he and the therapist are alone.

“Now, (Y/n), I noticed that the play was heavily impacted by your performance. Perhaps you and Boy Willie have more in common?”

“He’s a character I play, nothing more.”

“Are you sure? You both might be older brothers trying to create a better future for your siblings, but fail short, and feel that you have to be perfect in every way, to feel that you’re worthy to be called a “Brother.” She says, (Y/n) stares coldly at her, trying not to show any emotion. He quickly stands up.

“A question, does that Bathroom have a window?” He asks.

“Yes?” Kinbott replies and (Y/n) growls a bit, he storms over to the door and grabs the handle.

“Uh.. (Y/n), your sister is—“

“No, she isn’t.” (Y/n) opens the door to show Kinbott that his sister has escaped, (Y/n) storms off to the door without another word. Exiting the building (Y/n)’s eyes search like an owl, his head twists around to search. The only thing he notices was a coffee place, and saw a shadowy figure enter the facility.

“You little—“ (Y/n) angrily walks over, after sharply bursting into the cafe his eyes quickly lock into his sister, who sits calmly at a booth. The two stare each other down and he slowly slithers over and sits across from her. They say absolutely nothing to each other for what seems to be an eternity.

“(Y/n)—“

“Silence.” He said, “i told you what I said at the entrance, your attempts to escape end here. If I have to watch you while you sleep so be it, but you will not step out of this school.”

“As amusing as it would be for you to try and stop me, I have more important things to do than Argue with an impudent child. It is my decision that you cannot make for me.”

The tension between the two grows more and more intense.

“Take one step out of Nevermore and I will Drag you back.”

“I’d loathe to see you try.”

The two are ready to burn Jericho to the ground in their squabble, luckily a trio of teenagers, dressed as pilgrims decide to draw the ire of the twins.

“Hey, boys, check it out.” One says, they finish their argument and turn to the three.

“What's a pair of Nevermore freaks doing out in the wild?” One says, “ This is our booth.” Another chimes in, rather take them seriously the duo do what they do best.

“Why are you dressed like religious fanatics?” Wednesday asks.

“We're pilgrims.”

“Same thing, murderous crusaders.” You say and Wednesday chimes in.

“Potato, Po-ta-to.” She says.

“We work at Pilgrim World.” One boy says. Annoyed.

“It takes a special kind of stupid to devote an entire theme park to zealots responsible for mass genocide.” Wednesday hardly jabs at them.

“My dad owns Pilgrim World.” One says.

“Wow. Making a theme part based off of Genocidal egomaniacs, that’s just stupid.” You say.,

“Are you calling is stupid?” One said.

“We’re you Not here for the first part of this conversation?” You respond. The trio slowly turn to you and you rise out of your booth.

“So tell me, freak... your sister ever been with a normie? Or is she all yours like all weirdos?” They laugh and (Y/n) folds his arms.

“Sorry i don’t participate in the same chromosome adding rituals that your parents did. Not my forte.” (Y/n) responds, and one boy has finally had enough. He swings with a punch which was caught effortlessly by (Y/n), who twists his arms. He kicks another halfway across the room. He slides along the ground and he hurls the other away. One leaps and puts him in the choke hold, (Y/n) hits him with an elbow straight im the rib cage, he begins to elbow him over and over, he lurches over, gasping for air and (Y/n) calmly slams his head into the table where Wednesday said, slightly enjoying the carnage. The three lie on the ground, spiraled.

“Good Talk everyone.” You say and sit back down across from Wednesday. “As I was saying, I will drag you back to Nevermore if you won’t go willingly.” (Y/n) says, before the doors open and is greeted by a middle aged man, the sheriff of these parts possibly.

“Dad!” The barista working there rushes over, and the sheriff turns to him.

“Tyler, the hell's going on in here?”

“They were harassing a customer, and he put them in their place.” Tyler says.

“This scrawny thing took down three boys?” The sheriff said.

“I don’t need help.” You say as you turn to The sheriff, suddenly Weems enters as well, seeing the mess.

“Apologies, Sheriff. These two slipped away from me.

Come on, Addams, time to go.” She says and the twins rise to leave.

“Wait a minute, hang on. You're both Addams? Don't tell me Gomez Addams is your father? That man belongs behind bars for murder. Guessin' the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I'm gonna keep my eye on you two.” He says, the twins seem unbothered by this and leave with Weems. The drive back to Nevermore was a bit, colder.

“Your first day and you're already on Sheriff Galpin's radar. Wish I could say I was surprised.” Weems says.

“What did he mean about my father?” Wednesday asks.

“A Murderer, dear sister. It seems Nevermore has more hidden, wouldn’t you agree Principal Weems?” You say, and she seemingly acts oblivious.

“I have no idea, but a word of advice. Stop making enemies and start making a few friends. You're going to need them.” Weems said, their drive was halted by an accident further up, a crashed truck.

“Looks like an accident. I hope the driver's okay.” Weems said, peering further ahead, but an ominous energy radiates though the truck.

“He's dead. Broke his neck.” Wednesday said, almost sure of it, they finally drive by, seeing how scarily right she was. (Y/n) turned to his sister.

“How did you know? It wasn’t a lucky guess.” You say, and Wednesday simply turns her head back forward.

“There is Something i must Tell you, Brother.”

It's quiet this late, this time of year. The birds have gone silent and no insects sing. There's just the measured crunching of footsteps over snow, the sound of Kris' breath in their lungs, the faint beat of their heart.

And their brother and Dess, talking softly.

They have better hearing than people seem to realize. They're not sure if it's just piano practice or a human thing or a them thing, but it's true. They're sure that Asriel thinks they and Noelle are too far ahead to hear, but they've fallen back enough that they can listen.

"...just gotta make it through high school, right?" Dess says, and even if Kris can't see her face they can imagine that little smile she has, the one that never seems that happy. "A few more years, then I'm out of this shitty town."

"How's your mom going to take it?" Asriel asks. "I mean, when you never want to come back..."

"Not never. I'll visit and stuff. Nell deserves that." Her shadowed figure shrugs. "I'm just not living here again."

"I still don't get it, gotta be honest," Asriel says softly. "I know she's kind of controlling, but--"

Dess cuts him off. "It's not about her. Or dad. Or your mom or dad or--any of you. It's just--this place. It feels like it's shrinking every day?" She gives a tired laugh. "Everything is the same except all the buildings get a little older and a little shittier. Everyone repeats the same conversations, the same actions, the same lives. I want more. I want..." She trails off, and for a little bit there's just footsteps.

"You want...?" Asriel prompts.

"...Ever been to a proper city, Az?" she says quietly. Kris has to strain to hear. "Not like the ones near here, but... Mom took us on a business trip, once, back when she was doing that whole thing, and... The lights. The sounds. The people. I knew I could spend a hundred years there and see something new every day. And I want to be part of that. I want something new so bad it hurts."

A long pause.

"Golly," Asriel says, and his tone is bright. "Sounds better than anything here. You won't miss this little place, huh, pal?"

She turns to him, frustration coming through in her tone. "Okay, don't play the passive aggressive bullshit on me, Az--I just said it's not you! Hell, I want to get Nell out of here too, and if you wanted to come, you could in a heartbeat."

"I can't," he says, quieter still. There's something hoarse and tired in his voice. "Maybe I would want to, but. You know that Kris--"

But Kris doesn't hear what follows, because they're already running, running across the snow, and all they hear is the crunching of their boots in the ice.

"Kris!" Dess calls, somewhere behind them. "C'mon, don't run off! The creepy bunker isn't going anywhere!" Her laugh cuts through the cold air, and Asriel's joins in a minute later.

Noelle turns to look at them as they pass, and maybe her hearing is better than they thought, too, because the way she looks--

They keep running.

Me thinking about even after Dess disappeared and their families grew apart and their friend group more or less split up, Asriel still tried to be a good surrogate older brother for Noelle because 1. Dess would've wanted it and if she comes home she can find Noelle's been taken care of 2. Asriel just loves Noelle. Like. He didn't stop caring about her.

So he takes her out to ice cream every week or so and asks her the normal conversation questions like "How's your day been? What are you learning in school? Read or watch anything good lately? Here's something interesting I learned today." And they always talk and have a nice time but the complete trust and closeness they once shared is gone, both can tell and both hope the other can't. And Asriel always walks her home. And one day when Noelle is entering the gate Asriel takes her hand and tells her, "Noelle, I know everything's different than it used to be but I want you to know that I still love you, and if you ever need anything at all or just need to vent tell me and I'll be there for you." And Noelle just...takes a minute to process what he just said and then tells him she appreciates it. But she knows she isn't going to do it. She's just going to go to Dess's room--nothing changed there, by the way, everything's exactly how it was when she last walked out of it--to watch a horror movie or something else like that on Dess's old laptop and have a good cry. And Asriel goes home to play with Kris and wonders wearily how did he get here, and why is Dess gone, and why does the world have to be so big and scary without her?

The 12th of the month gone missing and a very strange crossover, ramblings below :

First drawing? I made that literally last night after i couldn't stop think about Dess and looked at other interpretations of Dess. It took me awhile to realize her name is probably a play on Ness from the earthbound and the fact she's mentioned to wield a bat is like. Of course she does.

Also pictures where the holiday siblings are humans, i can not begin to tell you how weird it feels to draw the ut/dt style with my style of humans. Freaky!

There's a few Asriels there for fun, and Krises, I'm really happy with the bust drawing of them since I'm still having trouble getting to draw them in my normal style juuuuuuuust right.

3rd drawing is my initial Dess drawings, I'm not a fan of the less cartoony drawing I've made of her there but it's alright. Also scared baby Noelle and Noelle's dialouge incorrectly quoted

2nd drawing is funny, if i had to named a trope i like it be the very niche trope of doomed siblings. HiMERU as an older brother with a lost younger brother (Kaname who's in a coma) and Noelle as a younger sibling with a lost older sister (who's still somewhere out there)

Noelle's you too is kinda uhhhh super niche? It's referencing Himeru's event song Yubisaki No Ariadne, alluding that Himeru will find his brother outside the labyrinth and what not.

On the top right are the missing siblings, a guitar for Dess, and Kaname, still on that hospital bed

Timeline Ⅰ

*XSkye, created to assist in taking care of the XTale Children, and all of the people who lived within XTale*

She was the babysitter for the XTale brothers, and a few other children. XSkye would spend hours every week hanging out, protecting and nurturing these children to the point where she would be viewed as their second mother.

XChara, she viewed him as the eldest child of the bunch, seeing his protective properties whenever his sibling seem scared. XChara gladly took this role, happy to protect and fight for those he loved.

XFrisk, he would braid XSkye’s hair - style it many different ways: “I want my hair to be as long as yours when I’m older!” XSkye would just laugh, “Then I will have to style it for you, hm?”

XAsriel, he was shy at first, XSkye feared anything could upset him - but after her first day of taking care of the children he grew attached, and so did she. They would play games together when XFrisk and XChara would be busy. XAsriel made her want a child of her own, she adored him. Only, She was barren and could not conceive a child herself - it devastated her, so the Lady Toriel would console her in these moments

XSkye grew fond of the little ones, wanting nothing more than to see them succeed in life. even if she could not have kids of her own - she would do her utmost to be there for the XTale Brother’s up until the day XGaster decided to overwrite the timeline,

then all was forgotten.

Timeline Ⅱ

XSkye continued to babysit the XTale Children, she would report their behaviours and attitudes back to the royal couple; “Frisk and Asriel were perfect today as per-usual, but, Chara… I’m worried for him. He still looks lost, angry, sad? has something happened..?”

She would try to talk to XChara, to comfort him - but it was pointless as he shut himself off from everyone. XSkye was instructed to take care of XAsriel and XFrisk by the King, “I’ll deal with him” was what XAsgore said.

Years after XAsgore was able to help XChara had passed, a celebration was happening, everyone was there - everyone was happy. That was XGaster’s goal was it not? so why does he still feel so incomplete… so detached?

“Doctor! I thought you’d be too busy to show up!!” XSkye made her presence known to XGaster, a smile clear as day on her face. He returned the smile - but showed no sincerity.

She turned her head towards the crowd of people, remaining by XGasters side. “It’s so good to see them all smile.” XGaster just hummed, still not invested. “…I think I know how to make this more interesting..” “What do you have in mind, Sir?” the shorter monster turned her attention towards her senior once more, one of her antennas drooped down slightly as to give off the curiosity look.

‘Perhaps Death could make this more interesting..’

It was the same, though it only lasted 3 days… nothing changed, and he was unhappy..

“there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong Your Majesties, I feel your son will be better in a matter of days, a sickness that will pass. of course if this isn’t the case, please book another appointment and I’ll get you to see a doctor.” a sigh of relief exited the queens mouth, “Thank you, Skye.” The Nurse smiled as she typed into her computer the medication she had just prescribed young Prince Asriel.

“How are your other two sons?” XSkye asked, aware that Both XAsgore and XToriel had adopted two human children.

“At home, safe. XChara still won’t leave his room… but XFrisk is doing well! he helps out in the community every now and then.”

“Well isn’t he sweet? as for XChara, do we think he might need some help mentally?”

“Well we-“

the sound of screaming alongside the feeling of the ground rumbling caused the Nurse to stand, alongside the Dreemurrs. “What was that?!” XAsgore reached for his Wife and Child, holding them close.

It felt like an earthquake, little did they know that in this very moment the human children were fighting, one being controlled to try and kill his brother - whilst the other tries to fight against the blade pointing to his face.

Panic filled the air, but only for a moment.

He did something.. but no-one knew.

The timeline didn’t last anyway, so it didn’t matter in end.

Timeline Ⅴ

“I’m sorry Little ones, I do not know who you are - I’ll be glad to call the authorities and help you find who it is you are looking for though.” She went to kneel down and help the strange kids - but the white haired boy stormed off with what appeared to be his brother in tow.

She felt guilty, she didn’t know why - the only thing she could do was shrug away these thoughts as she made her way over to the Bar where she was greeted by Grillby, who was accompanied by XGaster.

“Wine for the troubled lady?” offered the purple flaming bartender. XSkye wouldn’t respond, she was in her own thoughts.

“Skye” XGaster turned to her, snapping her from her thoughts. “What’s on your mind, dear?” “Ah, sorry Grillby.. there were these two kids… one with white hair, the other with purple. came running up to me and tugging on my coat.”

“How strange” “…”yeah…”

XGaster said nothing, hiding a smile beneath his hands as he leaned onto the bar counter.

XSkye assisted the king and queen in taking care of their heirs/offsprings. Occasionally taking Care of XPapyrus, Cross and XAlphys as well for XGaster.

Skye is also a Nurse here, knowing safety and medical procedures to help take care of the children whenever they’ve been hurt;

“You’ve broken your arm XFrisk, please take it easy from here on out, and if ever you need - come talk to me, alright? I know it seems like a terrible world, but trust that we want the best for you.” the kid was cold, no response as he walked away.

“It was my fault- I-“

“do not blame yourself, Sans, you tried to help him.” Skye Consoled the other child.

It was like this up until the surface world, were it became the job to some of the Monsters to protect and defend the human child from those who would hurt him. Skye became apart of this guard.

She was trained by XUndyne, and General XMettaton. But positioned herself by XGaster’s side most of the time - and helped Cross and XPapyrus with training.

Come the day Cross were to be made an official member of the royal guard. Something happened, and he went to attack the human child - had XGaster not stepped in the way, he would have succeeded.

The Guard fled, so did XFrisk.

Memories XSkye doesn’t remember making come flashing into her mind, it became clear. XGaster was to be found and killed trialed.

XSkye was fighting against a dusting Cross, alongside XUndyne, XMuffet and XPapyrus. During this fight, both of XSkye’s right arms were blown off, alongside her wings being torn to shreds.

UNDERVERSE SEASON 2

Put back together, uninjured and healthy - XSkye became XGasters main guard. Standing by him and XAlphys as they overlooked a ledge.

XSkye remained silent and stoic, obeying the rules of XGaster’s game.

after he healed her (and said a few manipulating words) she began to trust XGaster - Vowing to defend him with her life.

‘if he can have is live in the best world, why fight it? he wants whats best..for us.’

(Summed up, her past can go more in-depth, I might write a few interactions between her and a few characters, however for now I just want to write when she makes any involvement into XTale and how her character is portrayed. This was quite difficult as I wasn’t writing freely like I was Cade’s backstory, but trying to make it add up into XTale’s timelines.)
