Friendly reminder not to take co-star seriously ✨ I still like using it only bc I can add my friends, BUT you can also do that on the AstroFuture app and it’s accurate info!!!

hi athia! i’ve been very interested in getting into paganism and witchcraft and i wanted to know if you had any resources that you’d recommend to get information from. i’ve had such a hard time trying to find resources and i really don’t know where to start so i just wanted to ask you in case you might know any. hope you've had an amazing day! 🤍
hi nonnie, so sorry for the long wait. you caught me at a busy time with my uni transfer and school starting but better late than never, right?!! 💕
-ˋˏ ༻notes༺ ˎˊ-
ok, yes finding info about this is kinda hard because a) new wave spiritualism has kinda marketed witchcraft and spirituality and now you have people trying to sell you fake quartz and how you have to “balance” your chakras, b) there are SO many pagan practices, and some interlap, while others are closed or restricted, and c) people lie on the internet so you’re just like umm what???
i try to weed it out by a judge of character most of the time and if whatever said makes sense and resonates with me. i also try to see if they do have credentials and a rapport among the community like they’ve published books or have given out readings. most importantly they don’t preach like “this is the only way to practice witchcraft” ykno? however? when it comes to like a pagan religion, and they’re like a credited authority figure (priest or leader of some kind) then yes they can say “this is how you practice this witchcraft with this pagan religion in mind” and you should definitely follow what they say. however, i still see a red flag if they insist it must be to the T.
i hope i’m getting my message across. basically like find what resonates with you, see if that person who is giving out information has good rapport and respects other’s way of practicing and some experience under their belt.
all that said, i kind of have a small resource pool. right now i’m more drawn to tarot and astrology, so that’s what i’ve been researching about. that’s another thing. there’s so much to witchcraft it can get suuuuper overwhelming real fast. i suggest just to find what you’re drawn to and stick with it for a bit and just skim the rest, until you’re drawn to it too, and then use the tip to weed out the fake bitches <3
ok lets go to the actual resources fmsmmfsm
-ˋˏ ༻resources༺ ˎˊ-
TAROT READINGS
biddy tarot
labyrinthos
ASTROLOGY
astrofuture (app)
astrology: using the wisdom of the stars in your everyday life (book)
YOUTUBERS
chaotic witch aunt
harmony nice (more wiccan centric but still good source for general witchcraft)
-ˋˏ ༻outro༺ ˎˊ-
i hope these helped!!! these are the places i go to right now when i want info. i don’t really have a source for spells right now, i kind of just reblog posts or save pics when i stumble upon one that i like. i mean im still new so still searching for more resources for my witchcraft journey but rn not really a priority. thus, these are enough. maybe one day i’ll make a masterpost hehe. ☺️🕯💖

It's star Sunday and there's tea to pour in the astrology world.
TW violence, trauma, mental abuse
.
.
.
Now this is old news for most. But Co-Star is quite the controversial app.
Many users had a problem with how the apps creator chose to share protesting tips in astrological meme form. This act trivialized the importance of protest safety and downplayed the fact that peaceful protestors were being treated like, well, like a violent insurrection on capitol hill should've been. The app also made a notification joking about being shot at during BLM protests which were traumatizing for those who had been shot at and even hit. The BLM protests shouldn't be treated like a fun game of chicken against the cops. These protests are about real issues that have affected Black communities for all of American history.
If that wasn't enough, the app intentionally makes negative predictions and relies on your browsing and app habits to make predictions through the cookies on your phone. The app uses overly aggressive language that can feel like a barrage on your self esteem. If you are prone to self deprecating due to mental illness, meds, or any other reason, this app will take advantage.
Tumblr media
If you're using Co-Star currently and want alternatives, here's a list we compiled together in our Facebook group.
The Pattern
Astromatrix
TimePassages
AstroFuture (iPhone only)
A lot of people also recommended Nebula but I didn't link to it because it does ask for gender during sign up but only has binary heteronormative options so on that alone, I personally do not recommend it.
I downloaded The Pattern and I'm very excited to use this as I've actually never had an astrology app before. I also downloaded Astromatrix and TimePassages just to see if they asked for gender at all and neither of them did. I might use all of them. You can never have too many horoscopes.
Tumblr media
I like the interface of the pattern, feel free to add me. 🥰

hope this isn't too annoying but which astro apps do you use!!! and what are some of the unique benefits of each one
my favorite is definitely time passage - i find it easy to use and it gives me good succinct aspect and house description as well as daily horoscopes based on your chart, current chart in the sky and dates for mercury rx for example, one thing that i wish would be different would be if it could give me other aspect options instead “one degree aspects” because i hate so many lines from aspects it first gives u but i want to see more than one or two (i usually like 40% on astro.com), also i wish they’d give descriptions for aspects between asteriods and nodes because that would be cool but whatever, also i hate that u have to pay for every little thing so annoying but i still love it its the one ive had for years
i also rlly like astrofuture - its a more straightforward app to use, not too much information at once, and i like it bc it lets me save multiple charts for free which i do for like friends charts. it also gives a brief description of aspects in ur chart but its kinda vague and doesnt go in depth with descriptions of all ur planets and the house they are in and what that means
another ive heard ppl like is the pattern - i dont use this one much but its cute alternative to costar and it gives u descriptions about urself but doesnt really focus much on the study of astrology itself also i just dont love navigating thru the app even tho the layout is nice
i like deluxe moon - its tells me quick what moon sign we are in and what moon phase and i like to have that information ready also u can check out future dates’ moon sign & moon phase which is really nice and simple!!
astrology wise i also have time nomad (more for moon stuff/tracking since it gives me numbers and info on lunar cycle but also on aspects), astromatrix, and cosmic insights but i dont use those as much tbh so dont rlly recommend them!!! THOUGH i just downloaded cosmic insights to give me accurate planetary hours based on location so its helpful for that and i like it so far but its vedic astrology focused and im not as familiar with vedic astrology

The Everyday Witch Tarot - $3.99
The Ostara Tarot -$3.99

Do you check your transits and if you do, what website/app do you use?
I dont check my transits unless, Im acting strange/something happens and need to check it. You can always check astro.com, but I have AstroFuture on my phone, and use that if Im too lazy to check any websites lmaoksjawo.
