Being the object of Minthara's affections IS unlike so many others, her intensity (in bed and out) is singular, she is DEVOTED and for that to be directed at someone oblivious or uninterested must be a goddamn trip

yes because Minthara had her pick of suitors in Menzo; drow fell all over themselves for a chance to be with her--if only for her status or her body, as she says herself. Only a few wanted her.

Florrick clearly doesn't gaf about her status, and she can't possibly want Minthara, herself, so she obviously just must be after that intense sex nobody else can give her, RIGHT?

I have Minthara's narration repeatedly insist that Florrick doesn't like her, and she rationalizes away the evidence that she does, because that assumption protects her from the vulnerability of mismatched feelings. Midway through sex, in the heat of the moment, she's pleased when Florrick calls her first name (a shred of recognition that she's is more than just 'Baenre', something she's always craved)... but later, when things cool off and she's forced to sit with the truth that Florrick does care about her as more than a weird hookup, it shakes her up. What exactly Florrick feels is still a mystery to Minthara, but she can't just write it all off anymore.

But also even if Florrick falls for Minthara too, she'll never be what Minthara needs. Minthara wants to have and be a one-and-only, and Florrick can't give that to her. So what really makes them doomed is that they could possibly overcome every single barrier to be together... except sheer incompatibility.

While we're on the Atypical Grindset Mindset, how's everyone's eyesight? We know Twist has a damaged socket, and Cash has mana line damage but what's everyone looking at? Does Pup have dog vision from his wolf form all the time? Can Cash see UV bc he's fishy?

Man, this is absolutely going to get a new Atypical chapter out of me. I spent all morning thinking about it and being excited to sit down and write. Thank you very much for that.

My headcanon in terms of vision re: Cash and Twist's damaged sockets is the same in the normal verses as in Atypical--Twist can see just fine, but Cash is blind in that eye.

Specific to Atypical, though--Twist and Edge have very good vision. Dragons as predators are most similar to hawks and other birds of prey; they're designed to see their prey from a distance and close in for the kill quickly. (They aren't nearly as stealthy as raptors, but they make up for it with their fire/poison breath.) Edge probably has the best night vision of everyone, though he might need reading glasses--I think his vision is more cat-like, and they're a bit far-sighted.

It had not occurred to me, but I'm fully on board with Cash having an unusual vision spectrum. Off the cuff, I'll say he can see shrimp colors, but I'd need to refine and research before incorporating that into a fic.

Pup's vision isn't much different, but that's because his sense of smell is now way more important to how he perceives the world. He's adjusted to it now, but it still throws him off sometimes when he realizes he can smell things the others can't.

Poor Rus. His senses are pretty similar to a humans', though he is more sensitive to certain pheromones. That's not something he smells or senses, though--it affects the way he feels. And, of course, he's got some pretty powerful pheromones himself. They're a big "FUCK OFF" sign to other sex demons--they're extremely territorial--but in addition to making everyone around him just a little more horny at baseline, they do also have a sort of relaxing effect in general. Again, this isn't something anyone senses directly--this mostly affects how they feel.

Atypical friendships: Kuina-Kuzuryuu

Notes:  I’m thinking of posting a series of head canons of people in AiB who I think would be friends but the show did us dirty and missed their potential. The first one is Kuina and Kuzuryuu. @kuinaoflight  @diamond-attorney-keiichi tell me how much of these I got right!

- Kuina is literally the only person who takes him seriously, because she knows he's the only person (aside from An, and even then she seems more worried about her corpses than the actual living people of the Beach) who makes sure everything is running smoothly at the Beach. 

- Kuzuryuu knows Kuina is good with people and occasionally asks her about her opinion on how things are being handled, if she thinks the people are happy with the way he's running things, if she has any suggestions as to what to change, etc

- She's also very close to Chishiya and sometimes asks her if she can casually drop a hint here and there to make Chishiya do some work, because mans does absolutely no work as an executive except when Kuina asks him for something. 

- Kuina holds massive respect for Kuzuryuu because she can see how he's trying to make things as good as possible, so every time he asks her for something her response is 'I'm on it, sweetheart'

- Yes, she uses 'sweetheart' a lot with him. Kuzuryuu feels endearing to her, she knows that under his cold exterior is a very caring man.

- In turn, she gets special privileges whenever she asks. If she wants to change rooms, Kuzuryuu makes the change in less than an hour. If she wants to be partnered up with someone specifically in games, he makes it possible. She wants the bartender of the beach's nightclub fired, but not dead; he's on it. Everything she asks for, no questions asked. 

- Kuina mostly calls him Kuzuryuu, sometimes Keiichi, but a few times she’s slipped up and called him ‘Kei’. He doesn’t mind. 

- They did a hearts game together in which they had to figure out which item in the room had killed the person laying in the middle of it. Kuina was the one to solve it because she noticed that the blood and bruises on the body were just makeup (very shitty makeup, Kei, you should see the stuff I have back at the Beach) and the person wasn’t actually dead. She felt so proud of herself (as she should be) that he wanted to congratulate her somehow so he took her off the chore chart for the next day. 

- They recommend books to each other and talk them through after they're done with them. Their perspectives are always very different and that's what makes it so enjoyable to discuss them together, because they bring up different points of view.

- They discuss these books while Kuina does Kuzuryuu's makeup. She's applying eyeliner as he raves about Crime and Punishment and if that's not friendship goals idk what is. They’ve learned that Kuzuryuu looks really pretty with glitter in his eyes and that Kuina does not care much for Raskolnikov.  

- Kuina often tells him that once they get back to the real world she’s going to make him sit through every episode of Pretty Little Liars. She’s so excited every time she mentions this that Kuzuryuu doesn’t have the heart to let her down and always replies ‘Sure. I’m also looking forwards to it.’

Also since Edda and Aven's species (I'm gonna call them starfolk for the sake of convenience) are seemingly based on stars, that means that they may have some "star-like" traits. Or specifically, since hotter stars are larger than colder stars, and blue/ white stars are generally larger than orange/ red/ yellow stars...

Does that mean "light" (White/ blue) starfolks are usually taller than dark (black/ orange) starfolks? Because I do like to headcanon that Edda is slightly taller than Aven.

For the ask game thingy: Dottore~

My first impression

Honest to god, I don't remember at all- I can kinda glean from older messages that I definitely liked Mangattore from when I first saw him, and I do remember being unable to write Dottore for the longest time despite wanting to (eventually I had to resort to making him a very specific type of character to have it take), but the sheer hyperfixation on him has thoroughly cleared my brain of any previous opinions on him (though I might have felt like I phantom wrote him from the start? hmmm)

My impression now

I love him. Immensely. I think he has a lot of potential for his character to go in various directions, and that's what scares me- we might have to kill him, and I really, really don't want to--

Favorite thing about that character

That's really hard to pick. If I had to choose...I suppose the fact that he's a medic/science boi? Since that's one of biggest factors in being My Type Of Character

Least favorite thing

The fact that his segments fucking die at the end of Sumeru. Yeah, yeah, yeah, probably a minor setback in the grand scheme of things, but I wanted to meet more of them-

Favorite line/scene

Ironically, the death throes of the segments. I play with the Chinese audio, and, like...one of the segments sounds noticeably younger than the rest? Which absolutely punched me in the gut when I heard it. And also just...everything else about it. We get crumbs of characterization, and a- (Also the translated version of the onscreen text is better than the English translation of the scene, in my opinion)

Favorite interaction that character has with another

A character that I wish that character would interact with more

This is gonna sound perhaps a bit odd, but I'm really bummed out that we never saw any direct interactions between Scaramouche and Dottore. How do these two talk to each other? How do they interact? When it comes to actual canon, I have no idea.

I have many. I've already mentioned previously on this blog that I view him as trans (which I bring up now because I don't think I've ever seen anyone else have that headcanon), but another one I have is that he's originally from the desert (shortly after the desert was made) and had two older sisters and three older brothers. Basically the only family member he got along with was his oldest sister, Zahra. Everything else wound up being very...unfortunate.

Give me… Kyurem’s reluctant acceptance of having a “Chosen One”.

Instead of being a potential one for Reshiram or Kyurem, the trainer is someone who doesn’t fit either dragons. They don’t embody Truth to the point of being unable to lie or believe enough in Ideals to end a friendship over conflicting mentalities. They were dragged into something huge by purely going on their journey. Give me a trainer who tried to avoid Neo Plasma yet ran right into the group. Someone who’s always playing mediator between travel companions.

Kyurem does not like humans after two literally forced it to split apart. Creatures so wrapped up in the Truth vs Ideals debate that they went to war over such a trivial argument! It can’t even become whole again when it’s two other parts are in the same area. So no, a human will not simply stroll up to the ice dragon and imprison it in a capture capsule. The mere idea…!

—Give me a trainer who was kidnapped by the Shadow Triad and taken down to Giant Chasm to be sacrificed. Something like that.

—Let them get trapped with just Kyurem.

—The legendary simply sits there waiting for the human to give it a reason to end it…

—Only. This trainer just flops onto the chilly cavern floor. (Careful enough to avoid releasing any of their Pokémon into the frigid cold.)

—For several minutes despite obviously being cold. They ramble a lot about how the whole journey spiraled away from them, how they can tell Kyurem wants nothing to do with them, and how they might have entertained the idea of being “special” before yet not anymore.

Dunno how the situation would resolve itself if N and the hero are ruling it out with their own legendary dragons. But I imagine somehow the trainer survives the encounter, with a piece of never-melt ice from Kyurem for their injuries.

The bond/connection isn’t same since the ice dragon has been hurt too much to trust easily.

It’s a start in the right direction after so long.
