Platonic Stobin Mind-Reading AU Part 1

Steve doesn’t notice anything is wrong at first beyond the obvious. His ears are ringing, his eye’s so swollen it feels like it’s going to pop from its socket, and his lungs don’t seem to expand fully before the pain in his ribs makes them shrivel back into themselves.

The injection site pulses, like the viscous blue liquid is still squirming its way into his brain, writhing around its synapses to force his tongue to wrap around words that only hold the truth. It doesn’t make sense. But neither do demogorgons or demodogs or the way thoughts have been leaking out of his ears since Hargrove bashed his skull in with a kitchen plate.

He doesn’t feel truthful. If he was truthful, he’d be telling Robin about the blood slowly pooling into his sock, or how he’s pretty sure she’s the best thing that’s happened to him since Dustin Henderson showed up uninvited at his house and derailed his life. Instead, he listens to Robin come up with more and more outlandish ways that this drug will kill them. It’ll erode their brains until there’s nothing left. Their organs will explode. They’ll have to keep talking until they slowly dehydrate and die. Steve hums along, thoughts trailing along too slow to keep up with her.

The mystery drug isn’t helping. He’s got that same giddy feeling he remembers from Friday night blunt rotations in crowded backyards, surrounded by his usual brigade of assholes. The likelihood of overdose or dismemberment ia much higher than they usually are when he feels the way, but hey, the company is better.

The overhead lights are trailing along in his vision, his cheekbone is throbbing with every invigorating heartbeat, and Robin’s head is shaking with laughter where it’s resting firmly against his own.

Then they’re being interrogated and even as Steve talks, a little voice in the back of his head is screaming at him to shut up. He doesn’t, can’t think past the drugs and his exploding eye, and the way he’s pretty sure if Robin moves her head away from his own he’ll explode.

Then noises and screaming and Dustin fucking Henderson.

They’re running.

They’re in the back of a cart.

They’re in an elevator.

Steve experiences each in little snapshots of coherency between laughing with Robin, and holding Robin’s hand, and–he can’t seem to think past Robin. It’s like Nancy all over again but more. Concentrated. The way he can only seem to think right now when it’s in tandem with her.

Then movies and popcorn.

Then water and a lightshow.

Then the bathroom. His thoughts are coming faster now, almost completely formed before they flit out his ears. And Robin is there. He still can’t think past her, and this is what love is like, isn’t it? The way he feels right when he’s sitting next to her.

But even as he’s confessing he can feel a little worm squirming through his stomach, uneasy with his words as they settle between them. And as Robin drops her secret between them like a gauntlet, Steve feels the squirming feeling ramp up into gut-churning fear. He doesn’t know why he’s afraid, or how he can almost feel himself glaring at the back of his own head in Mrs. Click’s class sophomore year, or the way he can perfectly remember how Tammy Thompson’s hair curled in the diluted sunlight of the classroom when before this moment he didn’t even remember her name.

It doesn’t matter, when He’s got Robin across from him, curling in on herself more with every second he doesn’t react.

The feeling ebbs into something softer as they make fun of a singing voice he can only barely remember. Something slides into place in the moment, like the weight of her skull on the back of his head while they’re tied back to back. Like the wisps of her hair tickling the side of his face. Like legs pressed together in a bathroom stall.

Then, Dustin fucking Henderson, and everything goes a little too fast after that. They survive by the barest threads of their little sailor suits. Billy dies. Hopper dies.

Steve goes home.

What about a Post Season 3 AU where Billy lives and he’s wracked with guilt over surviving while so many others died by his hands and he ends up bonding with Will because of it?

Somehow, during his recovery, Steve had been a constant by his side, initially becoming his best friend and later on, becoming more on Steve's insistence after having a bisexual crisis resolved by Robin.

Billy and Steve had been happy in the beginning but not everyone was supportive of their relationship. Everyone distrusted him and basically told him that he doesn’t deserve Steve.

Almost everyone threatens him, including Nancy who threatens to shoot him point blank the way she should have and Hopper who threatens to arrest Billy if he ever hurts Steve again.

He only has the girls who support him and try to change everyone else’s minds about him. It gets so bad that Billy ends up doing the breaking up for them and Steve confronts the party about what they said to Billy that caused him to break them up.

It causes a rift in the party since El and Max want nothing to do with the guys while they consider Billy to be the devil while Will is conflicted because if they consider Billy to be evil, that must mean he’s evil too.

It all comes to a head during the fight after Mike says that Billy deserved to die for all the people he killed and Will asks if he thinks the same about Will after the trap he’d unwittingly set for the people at the laboratory.

Will runs off and everyone goes to find him but he ends up going to Billy who he’s talked to a little bit about the mindflayer. He ends up crying to Billy about the guilt of causing deaths but doing it under the influence and he rants about how unfair it was that they all forgave him but that they couldn’t forgive Billy.

Billy explains that Will is beloved while Billy is hated. The deaths only confirmed that he was a bad person in their eyes while Will was never changed.

Will argues that Billy’s a good person too but Billy just laughs and tells him about almost running them over when they first got there. Will argues that he’s changed and that he isn’t the same person just like Will isn’t the same as he was pre-possession.

Billy says it doesn’t matter if they don’t want to see that and I can’t force them. The only thing keeping him here was Steve and Max and he’d ruined his relationship with Steve so as soon as he got the okay from the doctors, he’d work on convincing Max to go back with him.

Will asks about stories about California so Billy tells him all about sand, sea, beach and boys and when Will asks if being queer was more accepted there, Billy is realistic in explaining hate will always be there but they’re more tolerant there.

Billy dares ask about Mike and Will bitterly tells Billy all about it and how he doesn’t blame El but he doesn’t know how to feel.

Billy jokes about creating a Lonely and Possessed Williams Club and Will jokingly offers Castle Byers as a base. Billy’s curious about where and what it is so he gets Will to take him there.

It’s a lot more rundown without proper upkeep but Billy sees the potential and he asks Will if he can update Castle Byers and if wants to learn how to build as a side project, partially because Billy wants to know how it feels to create instead of destroy. Will immediately catches on and he runs to ask his mom if he can, who immediately agrees.

Joyce had heaved a sigh of relief when she saw her son running towards her after hearing from the other boys that he had run away during an argument.

Will tells her that he doesn’t want anything to do with the boys so she respects his wishes and tells them that he’s home but he’s tired from all of the running.

Will manages to drag Billy inside for dinner, surprising both Joyce and Jonathan but for some reason, Will is a lot more animated so they just go with it.

Joyce asks how Billy planned to rebuild Castle Byers on his own and Billy ended up telling them about how, when he was little and his mom had left, Neil would force him to go to whatever construction site he worked on to help speed things up by helping after school.

Billy had known how to build treehouses, houses and buildings as well as how to handle power tools well before he started puberty and he’d only stopped when Susan and Max came into their lives because Billy was then made Max’s babysitter instead.

It also allowed him to be able to use all of the power tools his dad had often threatened him with and left in the garage after he’d ran off after finding out Billy had a possibility of being crippled which he’d thankfully managed to avoid.

They had managed to keep the house after the government paid off the mortgage to keep Max and Billy quiet about the true reason of his injuries as well as repairing the Camaro and taking care of Billy’s hospital bills.

Billy however, had been saddled with mandatory therapy sessions which led to him getting a service dog a few months in after his therapist noticed how badly he’d reacted to touch.

He’d gotten this pretty big service dog who was good at noticing when his anxiety spiked and when his PTSD was triggered. Having Ace there to ground him and get his attention was a big help for Billy and it helped that Ace loved cuddles which helped stave off the touch-starvation he was diagnosed with.

Billy, Will and Ace spend a lot of their afternoons and weekends building Castle Byers while avoiding everyone else, except for the girls who knew what they were doing.

They had even requested an expansion of Castle Byers that would allow them to have their own space and Will had graciously allowed them to have it, drawing out the new plans for Castle Byers with all of their help.

Joyce is the only adult who looked at Billy as if he was still a child and she cared for him as if he was her own son. She loved how Will came out of his shell under Billy’s gentle guidance and how Billy was teaching Will important life skills without pressuring him to be masculine like Will’s father had done.

Billy had come out to her after a few building sessions and she had only pulled him into a warm hug and told him that he was welcome here whenever he wanted.

In helping Will, Billy ended up helping himself with physical labor, processing the possession and everything. He had started to take small steps in fixing his relationship with Max and forging a brotherly relationship with El who was genuinely nice girl if a bit naive about the world.

Will had started to become like his little brother, to the point where Will asked him for homework help instead of Jonathan because Billy had been an honor student before the incident and would return as one, determined to graduate top of their class so he could get into a good college.

Steve had wanted to chase after Billy to beg him to take him back but no amount of begging changed Billy’s mind and he still believed that Steve would be happier if Billy was out of his life.

He noticed that Billy was usually gone during the weekends and Steve thought that Billy had moved on so he gave him space. It was only when he had visited the Byers that he saw Billy again after a few months and he was well on his way to returning to how he used to be.

He’d asked Joyce what Billy was doing here and she set the record straight about Billy’s whereabouts and how the friendship between Will and Billy had definitely helped them both recover.

Steve peeks at his ex, patiently helping Will build a sanctuary they could hide in and he remembers why he fell in love with Billy. It renews his want to get his boyfriend back and this time, he manages to enlist Max and El’s help.

The two girls get Will to help them too and they devise a plan to have Steve waiting for Billy in Castle Byers just as soon as the door is in place and to have El lock the door and for Max to have the key.

Everything goes as planned and Steve's there with flowers, chocolates and a picnic basket he'd packed to match the beautiful picnic set-up that the girls and Will had left for them.

Steve doesn't give him the option to decline their second first date and by then end of it, Billy's confessing his insecurities and anxieties with their relationship to try and push Steve away.

Steve takes it all as the cry for help that it should be and he promises to Billy that he isn't going anywhere and that Billy was the first thing since the Upside Down happened that truly made him happy.

Reunion kisses are had and the trio of teens interrupt before it can get any further than PG-13. The next weekend has the group putting the finishing touches on Castle Byers, with the girls dragging Billy to the Mall to buy furniture for their room in Castle Byers.

As soon as they were in the finishing stages of the build, Will hadn't really felt motivated to finish it because it was something he'd made with his friends in mind, of them having a proper place to play D&D in and for him to be able to draw and work in.

Billy could sense it and so could the girls so Billy had Steve confront the boys about how they really felt about Will. Mike had been completely distraught at losing Will, to the point of realizing his feelings for Will which made things a lot easier.

Since Billy had wanted to make up with the kids and to surprise Will for his birthday, he had Steve chaperone them as they all went shopping to furnish the newly renovated Castle Byers.

The boys had been amazed at the work Billy had done and they apologized for being unfair and mean to him. Steve had told them under no circumstances were they allowed to try and ruin his relationship with Billy again because he would always choose the blond over them if it came down to it after everything that happened.

The boys missed their friend and their babysitter so they found a way to move on and let bygones be bygones the way Billy had. They helped Billy figure out how to decorate Castle Byers just in time for a surprise birthday party for Will.

His friends had kept apologizing via letters and notes and they had upped the ante leading up to his birthday. Mike had even made a sign that said "I'm an idiot but I miss you. Please forgive me?" on it.

Will had already agreed to forgive them as long as Billy had forgiven them and Billy had told Will over the weekend that the boys had come up to him to apologize so he was just milking it.

He sent invitations to them for his birthday party as the ultimate sign of forgiveness and he was surprised by what they did with Castle Byers in the best way possible. It was just like how he'd imagined it, largely thanks to Mike who remembered every detail about how Will had wanted it to be if he'd had the time and money to make it perfect.

Mike and El had long since broken up for good and Mike had been transparent about his feelings for El and for Will for once which made things easier for the trio to work around. El had already given Mike her blessing to ask her new brother out a month after the birthday party but Mike wanted it to be a grand gesture.

After terrifyingly enlisting Billy's help, Mike asks Will on a date just before Winter break started. Neither of them had gone to the Winter Formal that year because the entire Party had decided to stay in Castle Byer's warm and cozy walls and have a D&D campaign instead.

Come the new year, both Billy and Will had found boyfriends who had fought to be the men they wanted and needed and who wouldn't take their love for granted after everything they've been through.

The gay Williams found success and happiness after realizing they did deserve it regardless of what they've been through.

I know that post was a while ago, but I saw your post about Vance Hopper being related to Billy and/or Hopper, and what I love about both aus is that no matter which you go with, with Vance's attitude and overall anger issues, the people that know either of them are going to see them deal with him, and just be like, "Well, karma sure came back to bite you in the ass."

Yes! This is how I see the start of it:

Vance has been in the system for a year or two. His dad was a dead beat who wasn’t around much. His mom… Billy’s mom… died when he was about 14. His last foster parent ends up being a creep who keeps him locked in his room. Vance thinks he’ll just have to endure it until he ages out in a couple more years, but when this guys gets too handsy Vance runs away.

Trying to track down living relatives, he has very few clues. An address written on an envelope for a Billy Hargrove in Hawkins Indiana - never sent. There’s a letter inside. He hasn’t read it. He always knew he had a half brother. Never met him. His mom got really quiet anytime he asked questions, so he didn’t go around asking.

He ends up hitching rides and sleeping on couches all the way to Indiana from California. It’s a miracle he didn’t end up murdered by a stranger he met on the side of the road, but Vance is stubborn and convinced he could survive anything. He has certainly had enough close calls swindling perverts out of their money when he couldn’t find an arcade or game of pool to win bets off of.

He gets to Hawkins a bit disheveled and a bit pissed off and a lot anxious as fuck. It doesn’t take long for him to get picked up by Jim Hopper just for walking on the side of the road with his backpack slung over his shoulder. Jim takes him to the station, but not without a fight. He has to throw Vance in the back who spends the entire ride kicking his seat and spitting at him.

Jim just sighs. He’s had enough practice dealing with unruly blond brats. He doesn’t get much out of Vance other than a string of curse words when they finally get to the station. He doesn’t even know Vance’s full name, but he does manage to finally get Vance to tell him what he’s doing in Hawkins. He’s looking for his brother. Vance shows him the envelope with Billy’s name on it.

Jim leans back in his chair. Takes a deep breath. Says alright, then rings up Billy Hargrove. Billy is twenty six. He’s been living with Steve, but he spent some time living with Jim when he was in recovery. Their relationship is much better than what it was when Billy was a teen, but Vance’s arrival and what it could mean for Billy… how Billy might react… it puts him on edge.

Jim figures Vance has got to be Billy’s mom’s kid. That’s gonna open up a can of worms, and it’s gonna fucking hurt. Those blond curls certainly don’t come from Neil… but that temper. It reminds him of Billy and it reminds him of… himself. He tells Billy there’s someone down at the station he needs to meet. Doesn’t say much else.

Billy and Steve arrive together. Jim isn’t sure if that’s a good idea or bad idea. Within the first half hour of them meeting, Billy finds out his mom is dead and he has a half brother. Doing the math, she probably ran away soon after finding out she was pregnant with another guy’s kid. It’s a lot to process. Billy doesn’t say much. Steve puts his hand on Billy’s knee which has been shaking the entire time.

Vance notices it and frowns.

Vance eventually opens up enough to tell them his full name. Vance Hopper. Jim thinks it’s a coincidence until he asks him who his daddy is and where he is to which Vance answers 1) Frank Hopper and 2) fuck if he knows. Jim responds with “Frank?!” because he has a cousin who moved out west a long time ago. Not surprising he’d be a deadbeat dad, but weird coincidence he’d end up with Billy’s mom.

…well… he has dealt with Stranger Things (ba-dum-tis)

It ends up being a long fucking day that starts a long journey of them learning to be a family. Vance ends up staying with Billy and Steve but he’s uneasy about it. Billy and Steve think he’s being judgmental and homophobic which pisses Billy off, but the reality is that Vance has dealt with a lot of shitty people trying to take advantage of him.

Steve tries to play peacekeeper and help Vance feel welcome in their home. Billy is definitely more of a hard ass. Makes him go to school, and stay in school. No excuses. Billy and Jim both go on his emergency contacts. Billy and Vance get into a fight. Next day, Vance doesn’t come home from school. Billy freaks out. It’s a whole ordeal. Steve has to calm him down.

Turns out Vance ran over to Jim’s. Billy and Vance finally have a heart to heart. Talk about a lot of things. The shitty people they’ve run into. Their shitty dads. Their mom who they want to hate, but who they can’t help but miss. Vance finally shares the letter with Billy from their mom and they read it together.

Idk… something like that.

Bear with, this might get long, so I’ll try and break it down by game.

Dragon Age: Origins

Chrissy is the Warden / the Hero of Ferelden, recruited by senior Grey Warden Ser Robert Buckley. I haven’t yet decided her class. Jason had been one of the recruits too but he either didn’t survive the Joining or was killed when trying to back out of it.

Jeff is the other Grey Warden, essentially filling Alistair’s role. Haven’t yet decided whether to incorporate more of Alistair’s plot for him yet! He’s a warrior.

Eddie and Wayne live in the Wilds. Eddie fills Morrigan’s role initially, with Wayne able to save Chrissy and Jeff at Ostagar—not as Flemeth, but as a passerby. Eddie’s a mage!

Nancy fills Leliana’s role. She’s a former chantry sister and a bard. She and Mike are fleeing from Lothering when they meet the trio. Nancy’s a rogue, Mike is a warrior.

Freak joins them at Redcliffe, where Jeff was raised. I’m thinking Freak is a warrior.

Gareth is a Crow (assassin) sent by Brenner to take out Chrissy. Nancy takes him out with ease and he offers to join them on their journey. He’s a rogue.

Barb also lived in Lothering, but she died in the darkspawn attack. She’d been a chantry sister same as Nancy.

Chrissy makes the ultimate sacrifice in order to end the Blight, leaving Jeff as the only Ferelden Grey Warden. He’s the one who goes to find the cure. The group separate after Chrissy’s death, which brings us to:

Dragon Age 2

Steve and Robin are both simultaneously Varric and Hawke. Steve finds his passion in storytelling and writes about their adventures and Robin ends up with the title Champion of Kirkwall. Steve’s the one with the family estate, Robin’s the one with the blood connection to seal away Henry Creel.

Vickie fills the role of the surviving twin, having escaped Lothering with Robin back when the Blight broke out. She contracts the Taint during the Deep Roads expedition and is saved by Jeff and recruited to be a Grey Warden.

Tommy and Carol fill Bartrand’s role, being behind the Deep Roads expedition. Tommy finds the lyrium idol and it eventually drives him mad, which prompts Carol to seek Steve and Robin out years later (after she and Tommy had abandoned them in the Deep Roads prior).

The Byers run the Darktown clinic. Will’s the apostate healer, with Jonathan and Joyce running the clinic with him and keeping him secret.

Max stole a Qunari relic and is trapped in Kirkwall, just like Isabela.

Lucas and Erica are two rogues who live in Kirkwall, friends with the Byers. Dustin’s also friends with them and has far too much of an interest in runes and magic despite not being a mage.

El’s a former circle mage, now apostate, who escaped the circle with the help of a Templar named Benny. Lucas, Erica, Dustin and El imprint on Steve and Robin like ducklings; I think they’d be getting into trouble in the city and Steve & Robin would intervene once and they’d immediately latch on.

Billy would be Meredith I think, I haven’t thought too much about it. I also don’t have anyone specifically behind the chantry incident at the end of the game yet.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

Nancy’s a nightingale now, still filling Leliana’s role.

Eddie’s the Inquisitor rather than Morrigan, having been at the wrong place at the wrong time. He has the rift anchor in his hand.

Steve, Dustin, Lucas, Erica, Max, El, Jonathan and Joyce come to Skyhold once Skyhold is established. Steve claims to have no clue of Robin’s whereabouts, intending to keep her safe.

Hopper I think would have Cullen’s role, being a templar and an advisor. The other advisors are Mr Clarke, Nancy and Murray.

Briefly mentioned prior, I’ve got Henry Creel/Vecna as Corypheus. Robin’s father (Ser Robert Buckley) sealed him away years ago and Steve & Robin accidentally unleashed him while ironically trying to prevent his release.

Argyle is the potions master. I think Jonathan would become the stable master.

Vickie reappears as the Grey Warden contact for Here Lies the Abyss.

They don’t all fit the characters 1:1, more their roles in the plot, and as you can tell there’s a lot of overall changes! It’s SO fun though I’m having a blast

how would have Rhea raised Billy if Jeralt failed to take them from the monastery? Aside from actually giving a shit about them and not letting them starve on a semi regular basis I mean

See their enlightened one outfit?

They would have gotten tacky outfits in the same style from age 3 onwards, all "made" by the Archbishop herself.

More seriously, I think the plot would change?

Maybe Seteth wouldn't have been "summoned" at the Monastery, if Billy had been there, or he would and would have acted as Billy's caretaker ?

If Billy was raised by Rhea since day 5, I'm pretty sure they would have told her about the gremlin in their head, and that plot would have been solved way earlier, but as to what happens with Supreme Leader's war... idk.

I personally see Billy, in this verse, as someone raised like Sitri, maybe being a monk/random ward in the Monastery, but Billy likes to help people (and smiles at least in the jp!version!) so maybe they would have became some sort of kickass cleric, or a member of the knights of Seiros (Rhea'd disagree at first, she doesn't want them to be hurt and would have prefered if they became a fisherman or something that would keep them away from the battlefield, but Billy makes their own decisions, and wishes to protect the monastery and the people they cares about, maybe being triggered by another assassination attempt targetted at Rhea, maybe Christophe's or someone's else).

Billy'd be good friends with knighs and members of the CoS, maybe take Cyril under their wing (as much as they can) and have wednesday evening sessions of sitting with their "like" family eating Zanado fruits, or even fishing. When they want to become a knight or know how to use weapons "to protect", they could spare with Seteth'n'Rhea and end the "training" sessions with some of Rhea's cookies and Zanado fruit juice.

If Billy's still a teacher in this verse - well, I don't think the entire "crust + church BaD" spiel affects them, hell, they might be a bit more pissed at this entire nonsense and voice their annoyance, why are those nobles blaming the church for their own failings in ruling their lands?

(that's where Seteth has to remind them about this thing called "tongue in check")

Maybe they can decide to travel through Fodlan to make up for the regional branches' failings (but only after Rhea got from the gremlin the promise that Gremlin will keep Billy safe!) - when Supreme Leader comes crashing down with her army?

If Rhea survives, Billy hangs out in Faerghus, but if Rhea is caught, Billy leads a resistance force (like SS) - granted, in this AU, Sothis is around and less of a gremlin that in her canon appearances, so Rhea's freed from her Enbarr jail way earlier than in the game, the Agarthans are toasted and everything's well that ends well.

“Someone please help her!” Lucas yelled as Max began floating in the air. Y/n closed her eyes and sat down on the ground. She held her hands out and slowly began floating in the air. She didn’t need salt or an enclosed quiet place like Eleven did. She scrunched her eyes as she waited for the familiar cold blast of air. Opening her eyes, she was surrounded by darkness but it bled into what looked like a school’s gym. She looked around to find Max pressed against the bleacher’s and Venca stalking closer to her. She stepped forward but stopped when Venca went flying backwards and stopped in the middle of the gym.

Y/n slowly moved towards Max. Her eyes never leave Eleven and Vecna. However, she had made it almost half way to Max when she heard Eleven call out to her. Y/n slowly turned her head towards El and found Eleven staring at her in disbelief. Y/n just simply moved towards Max and wrapped her arms around the shaking girl. “Max, everything is gonna be ok. Nothing is gonna happen to you. I just need you to wake up. Wake up now!” Y/n yelled, jaring the girl to the point she woke up. Eleven was thrown from Max’s mind. Eleven rose up from the water with a scream. “Y/n was there. She was there and woke Max up.” Eleven hisses out as she climbs out of the tub.

“We need to leave now.” Eleven said as she jumped out of the tub and ran towards the van. “We won’t make it to them in time El. What happened?” Mike asked as he caught up with her. “SHE is back. Y/n is back. 002. The girl I told you about. She’s much stronger than I am and she has more than just telekinesis like I do. Papa never allowed her in the same room when I was in the room, or when Henry/001 was in the same room with me. Papa always referred to her as “Predator” but I never knew why. Anyway that’s not the point, we need to go, NOW.” She yelled climbing into the van. Mike looked at the others before following and climbing into the van.

{With Max and Lucas}

“What the hell do we do?!” She’s been in there with Vecna for too long!” Max panicked as she shook the girl in front of her. However, nothing she did would wake Y/n up. “Max, wait for just a minute. She must have pulled you from Venca’s grasp. Maybe we should wait and see what happens?” Lucas said the last part like a question. He wasn’t even sure that Y/n could survive this creature. Max looked at Lucas with fear written on her face before she turned to look at Y/n. Max’s eyes widened when she saw blood cascading from both Y/n’s eyes, nose and mouth.

“Lucas, grab her!” Max yelled as she stood from her spot and raced to the door. Erica opened the door only to see her brother carrying Y/n in his arms. “Holy shit, Lucas what's happ-” “Erica, get Dustin to contact Steve and the others, NOW!” Lucas yelled as he passed Erica. Erica pulled the walkie from her backpack. “Dustin, get Steve on the line and tell him and the others to come back to Hawkins!” Erica said.

“What, why?!”

“Don’t ask why, you will figure it out soon, just tell him it's Y/n!”

Dustin’s eyes widened when Erica mentioned Y/n’s name. He looked over at Eddie and Billy with wide, distressed eyes. “Eddie, Billy, we need to go and get Steve and the others and leave.” Dustin said. Eddie turned to him and raised an eyebrow but stopped when he saw the look on his face. He looked over at Billy and nodded to him before the two bolted after Steve, Nancy and Robin. “Steve!” Both boys yelled, causing Steve to turn and look back at them. “What is going on? Why are you guys panicking so much?” He asked.

“It’s Y/n.” Eddie whispered.

Steve’s face fell and he darted back to the trailer. Everyone watched before they darted after him. He skidded to a halt before yanking the door of the trailer open and getting to the portal. Back in Hawkins, Max was gently patting Y/n’s face as she tried to wake her up. “Y/n wake up please!!” Max yelled as tears cascaded down her face. Y/n was the only person other than Max’s friends to really take her and Billy in when her step father and mother kicked both her and Billy out of their home.

Max turned to see Steve racing from Eddie’s trailer. He dropped to his knees after Max moved from where she was sitting before. The others raced over a moment later to find Steve begging Y/n and pleading with her to wake up. “Please, Baby I can’t lose you. Not yet. You can’t leave me yet. Just stay with me. Come on, open your eyes for me. I need to see those e/c hues again.” Steve was practically hysterical at this point. Tears ran down his face as he watched his girl bleeding from her eyes, nose and now her mouth. “SHE’S MINE! YOU STAY AWAY FROM HER IT'S NOT HER TIME VECNA. DON’T TAKE HER FROM ME!” Steve yelled in anger. His anger soon turned to fear when he watched his girlfriend begin floating in the air. His heart pounding in his chest. “Don’t take her. Please.” He whispered.

{With Y/n and Vecna}

Y/n glared at Vecna as his hand was outstretched, the same as her. They increased their power and strength to see who the stronger one was. Vecna could feel himself moving backwards and his grip slipping. Y/n pulled her arm back before using all her might and power to launch Vecan back. She had the upper hand and was using her power to keep Vecna at bay but her strength soon dipped and Vecna took that as his opening.

He lifted her up from the ground and grinned. “You still are not strong enough to beat me child.” Vecna hissed and raised the clawed hand. Y/n knew exactly what he was doing and closed her eyes. Her eyes flew open when his claws pierced through her stomach. Her back bowed backwards as she fell from his claw. He watched as she fell to the ground, blood spilling from her stomach, mouth and eyes.

Her eyes faded in and out before all color in them vanished, and she took her last breath. Vecna backed away a bit before turning and walking away from her. “So much potential and yet, wasted on protecting others.” Vecna mumbled before he disappeared from sight.

Steve could only watch in horror as his girlfriend’s back snapped backwards and she dropped to the ground with a thud. He instantly moved forward and pressed his ear to her heart, only to hear nothing. His eyes filled with tears as he sat back on his heels. He screamed in agony as he gathered his girlfriend in his arms. Max could only stare in disbelief. “Y/n?” She whispered, expecting her to sit up in Steve’s arms and smile at her. However, when she didn’t move, Max dropped to the ground and cried. Steve just held her tightly against his chest and cried for all he was worth. Steve buried his face in her neck and cried.

Robin placed a hand on his back in hopes that she could at least help elevate some of the pain he was feeling. “Steve, we have to go. Come on.” Robin said softly. Steve slowly stood up, with Y/n in his arms. Billy could only stare in disbelief as the one person that made him feel welcome in this crap town, was gone. He pulled Max into his chest when she started to cry and just held her tightly. Y/n was also the reason he and Max were able to fix their relationship and become siblings. They all followed Steve as he walked to his car. “I’ll take her to the hospital. You can all come if you want.” He said, carefully placing her in the backseat.

{At the Hospital}

Eleven had told them about Dr. Owens, and had asked that he be the one to see Y/n as she knew exactly who Y/n was. As they waited outside the room, Steve was pressed against the wall with his legs drawn to his chest. His eyes were half lidded and staring down at the ground. Eddie walked over and sat down next to him. “Cheer up man. I highly doubt your girl wants you to be sad like this. Come on. Show us a smile, yeah?” Eddie asked, giving him a smile. Steve looked at him before giving him a small smile before turning to face the ground again. “It won’t be the same without her though Eddie.” He said curling in on himself. Eddie sighed before patting his back and standing back up. A few moments later, Dr. Owens walks out of the room and gives them a smile. “Well, Eleven, you were right.” He said. Billy raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?” He asked. Dr. Owens grinned.

“As you all know, Eleven here has telekinetic powers right?” He said looking around. Everyone nodded. Eleven grinned as she sat up straight and waited. “Y/n is the same but stronger. She has two different abilities as well. She has the telekinetic ability but she can also make her body ‘play dead’.” Dr. Owens said. Steve’s head shot up and he was standing in point 3 seconds and he was staring Dr. Owens down. “What?” He asked. “Y/n is alive Steve. She used her second ability to fake her death so Vecna would leave her and you all alone.” Dr Owens said grinning.

Steve beelined for the room behind Dr Owens and carefully opened the door. His heart jumped for joy when he saw her sitting up in the bed and reading a book. She turned towards the door and a smile appeared on her face. “What, you didn’t expect to get rid of me that easily did you?” she asked as he walked towards her. She placed the book down and opened her arms. Steve dove into her arms and pressed his face into her chest while his arms wrapped around her waist. Her hands ran through his hair and she softly hummed. He closed his eyes and kept close to her thinking she would disappear if he let her go.

The others filed in one by one to see her and to coo as Steve had fallen asleep in her arms. “I’m glad you’re back now.” Max said, holding Y/n’s hand in hers. Y/n smiled and pulled the redhead into a hug and kissed her head. “You can’t get rid of me that fast kiddo. Plus, you and your brother owe me.” She said grinning when Billy scoffed and rolled his eyes playfully. “What do you want?” Billy asked. She grinned. “I want to drive your camaro Billy.” She said, getting giddy at the thought of driving that car. Billy’s face paled but he knew that he could trust her. “If it comes back with one scratch, I’m killing you and Steve.” He said.

Steve opened his eyes to glare at Billy. “What the hell did I do?!” He yelled, making everyone jump and start laughing. Y/n smiled and shook her head. “Let’s just figure out our plan to defeat Vecna and THEN we can discuss the function of driving Billy’s car, ok?” She said, as everyone laughed at her words before nodding their heads in agreement. They all gathered around Y/n and Steve and began discussing what their next move was. Steve looked over at his girlfriend to find her clenching his shirt in her hands and smiled. He leaned towards her and pressed a kiss to her cheek. “I love you.” He whispered. She smiled and turned her face back towards Steve and pressed her lips to his. “Love you too Big Boy.” She said laughing when his face went bright red.

“You are so damn lucky I love you.”

“Haha, love you too baby.”

Oh yes okay! This one was inspired by some photo manips I did a while back in is basically just gonna be all angst.

I was thinking that Steve and Billy are the latest reincarnation of Achilles and Patroclus (kind of got fixated on the idea of Billy as Achilles due to his affinity to water and the whole bronzed, golden boy thing).

It sometimes takes a while but they always remember their past lives which means that they also always remember that Steve does first and that they pretty much always die young. There are times when they can ignore that and just be together, and other times where the pain is still too raw and they end up fighting/trying to stay away from each other in the hopes that tragedy won't befall them.

This is the first reincarnation where Billy dies first and Steve has to recon with just how much his lover has had to deal with being the one who survives whilst also grieving his soulmate.

Warnings for a discussion of a film/short story called The Black Phone, which deals with young boys being abducted, abused and killed by a much older man. This response discusses the abuse toward the young boys.

Griffin is the second one taken and since it's still the beginning, he's not sure if the Grabber is the same man who took the boy on the new stations last month. A lot of kids go missing every year, maybe that boy ran away or it was someone else and Griffin doesn't connect Finney to the Grabber at all until the Grabber, still devastated that he lost his first boy, laments about Finney's death and vows the same fate won't happen to Griffin.

Billy is next and after two boys go missing from the same area within a month, he figures the Grabber took both Griffin and Finney, but why is there only one boy in the basement? He and Griffin are kept chained to the walls and he's scared out of his mind. What caused the Grabber to snap and kill Finney? Will it happen to him too?

Vance is dropped to the floor and handcuffed immediately, still unconscious. He wakes to find two younger boys staring back at him. He's so enraged and confused, he doesn't question where the third boy is until Griffin and Billy whisper that the Grabber killed Finney, they don't know what he's capable of.

Bruce is baffled. With so many boys going missing, they've all assumed the boys are killed, each one taken to replace the one before him. He's elated to see the boys are alive, even though he didn't know them, but where's the boy with a mint arm? Where is Finney?

Robin is elated at the boys being alive. Finney must be around here somewhere, in another room, or upstairs with the Grabber, which is disgusting, but at least his friend is alive! The others tell him that Finney was killed, the Grabber said so himself, but the next time the man comes downstairs, Robin rages and wants to hear the Grabber say it.

The Grabber is tormented that he couldn't keep his first boy with curls and bright eyes. He hadn't meant to get as rough as he did, he only wanted to punish the naughty boy, not kill him. He will never make that mistake again and keeps Finney's rocket pen as a promise to himself.

The boys are freed, thanks to Finney's calls to Robin, and when they come storming out of the house, Gwen is the first one on the scene, along with Amy and Robin's uncle and all of the other families effected. She searches for Finney in the ambulances and police cars, stops to hug and kiss Robin before she goes back to her search, but he grabs her wrist and tells her Finney never made it. He was the only one killed before the Grabber understood how breakable young boys are.

Gwen screams to the heavens because it's not fair that Robin and Bruce and Vance and Billy and Griffin lived, but not her brother, her rock, her best friend. It's not fair that he died when the other got to live. Robin tries to hold her in her hysteria and Amy rushes away from her brother's side to find Gwen, but she's inconsolable and neither of them can help her. Robin lived, Amy's brother lived, they can't understand her torture of Finney not coming back to her when everyone else gets a happy ending.

Weeks pass and Robin visits her and tells her of Finn's phone calls, how he helped them escape. He tells her that her brother is a hero and that Robin and the others owe their lives to him. He tells her that Finn made Robin promise to look out for her and guide her and protect her in the ways Finn can't anymore. He tells her that Finn loved her more than anyone and his one sorrow was not saying goodbye, which is why Finn swore he would find Gwen in her dreams before moving on.

Last night I dreamed of a harringrove AU where Steve had been dating a Billy who survived Starcourt, but because of the lung damage he had to quit smoking and so did Steve. They'd been staying together for over a decade, healed together and built a life with each other... And then Steve got transported to this alternate universe where Billy left Hawkins to join the military asap and never got possessed. He was a vet and a biker and chainsmoked like his life depended on it. He walked into the bar Steve had found work at, because the life he'd found himself in was kind of lonely and aimless except for the few times he got to meet his friends.

And the dream sort of faded away around the time they got closer to each other and Steve, despite missing his Billy and seeing hints of him in this alternate version, while also being attracted to all the ways this Billy was different, somehow got hung up on Billy smelling too much of cigarette smoke.

honestly i’ve written a lot and read a lot so i’m gonna try to share my headcannons that others haven’t already written or shared

1: emotional sizeshifter!steve, but like it’s really dangerous. like he grows really quickly or shrinks quickly, therefore he can very quickly kill or injure someone by mistake or get injured himself. he hates it a lot, having almost hurt/actually hurt his friends or the kids before. (i love using this au like the way he revealed he was a sizeshifter to most of the group accidentally was in season 3 during the mall fight, the mind flayer grabbed nancy or someone and he just forgot everything and acted strictly on his instincts)

after he accidentally broke dustins arm against a door he didn’t talk to anyone for like, a week, just sitting in his room in absolute shame :(

2: tiny!robin. she originally was human sized, but with all the stuff in season 3 with the russians things went south. i know that the green stuff in the containers was pretty much acid but let’s pretend it was a shrinking potion. anyway it somehow gets on her, like when the elevator is falling hits the ground/wall near her and shatters, alot of possibilities. everyone’s scared bc she’s small and super fragile and was their teams main helper

3: borrower!max. i can’t help but love this trope bc she has a lot of trauma, so if she was discovered by a human, she would just be like, nonchalant about it, maybe even grateful if the human was nice to be away from her brother. who could possibly be a human in this and tormented her every chance he got. she wouldn’t be up for people carrying her at first bc of the bad experiences with billy but eventually was just like “okay i’m too lazy to walk rn”

4: i’ve been thinking about this for awhile. so basically every time vecna curses someone, instead of dying, they shrink. we could add onto that by saying, what if they’re transported to the vent with the spiders in it in the jars in place of the spiders. like henry would shrink animals and put them there, then go up there and experiment on them, since they can’t run away now that they’re eso small, and he would do that with the humans. instead of killing them he would let them die on their own. which would be even more fun because steve could find the vent with the spiders in it, lift up a jar, and find a very tiny and very terrified chrissy, who was on the verge of death. if in a situation like max or nancy, where they survived, that would be different, like either they wouldn’t shrink, they would, or they would only shrink like halfway.

5: for any byler fans seeing this, g!mike and t!will. will is a borrower and was discovered by mike, and they quickly became friends. after that will is sent to the upside down and mike finds el, and it’s a lot more dangerous for will. joyce is also a borrower bc i love that but she still goes to extreme lengths to protect her children.

ask questions pls, i can draw and write kind of good. if asks are off i’ll try to figure out how to turn them on

Fellow mungrove fans.. hear me out..

AU where Billy survives Starcourt. He's been in the hospital for months, everybody but the party thinks he's dead, that's what they've told everyone. The one person who knows otherwise is Eddie. Did Billy get in a shit-ton of trouble for dialing an unauthorized number from his hospital room phone?? Absolutely. Was it worth it? Absolutely. When it's finally time for Billy to be released, he's sure as hell not going back home. He's free of Neil now, he's never going back. Could he stay with Steve, or even Joyce? (The Byers don't leave for California and Hopper isn't "dead") Sure, probably. He's had issues in the past with Steve, and he also thinks the guy is hot as fuck, so.. sure, he could stay with him, but it would be a nightmare. Billy's in pain and struggling with mobility and nightmares and a ton of other shit, he'd snap and absolutely scare Steve away. Joyce is an okay enough option, but she's dealing with Will and El and there's definitely not enough room in her house even though she'd say otherwise. Billy doesn't want to feel like a burden. The nurses ask him if he's got a place to go, and he lies, says yes, but realistically, he's terrified. As they're wheeling him out of the hospital, Eddie's already there. He tells Billy this whole big story about how after he found out what happened he chewed out some people at the lab and basically convinced them that Billy deserved a place to live for his trouble (and shouldn't they keep an eye on him, after all?) and Eddie just happens to be his new roommate (if Billy wants, of course, Eddie hasn't moved anything in yet, but he's got an overnight bag) and god, Billy's the happiest he's been in a long time, despite all of the pain. The thing with Eddie is that he's good with broken things. Maybe Steve is too, Billy doesn't know, but Eddie is a stable, steady force that is somehow incredibly non-reactive, even in the face of Billy's biggest blow ups and meltdowns. He always has been, even before Starcourt. Billy knows that he's going to be safe, loved, and cared for no matter what. While he's going to try his absolute best not to lash out or meltdown, he knows that if he does, Eddie can take it. Eddie always knows it's not personal, it's never about him. And if they happen to fall in love while Eddie's living there and helping Billy return to normalcy? Well, it's just a bonus.

ok so the thing about my ocs is that i just drop them in any scenario ever so i truly am unable to verbalise any of these aus in detail lmfaoooooooooo. however i DO keep going back to a lgowab au with the 50th season ocs just bc keep thinking about how they would react. bc let me tell you they would fucking REACT. they only JUST left the simulator and now they gotta do this shit FOR REAL? literally half of their class would be dead within days mostly out of dumb luck but also theyre easy enough targets without being considered "kids" (considering 53 is the newest season, theyve been given a few years outside of the simulator already). and with all of the guns flying around wooowwwww ryobe and naomi would actually go crazy

there are LOTS of "what if" aus i have in mind for erin/billie just because those two are the characters i played in rps lmfao!!!! erin managed to survive and billie was the first death, so theres lots to be done regarding scenarios where that Doesn't Happen. ESPECIALLY erin, who basically got saved last minute from being the blackened despite her making literally the biggest mistake of her entire life and killing a man lol. and billie surviving .......... a lot of her character was just the tragedy of her not getting to grow up so giving her the ability to Grow Up is very sweet. honestly there are so many what if scenarios for all of these characters just because theyre danganronpa ocs hfdjgsfsjgk like the what if scenario of naomi getting caught in that final chapter. like that would have changed the public's perceptive of season 50 entirely. soooo many postgame relationships would be different and significantly less strained. and with the public not being super enthused by the ending of the 50th season the participants might have had time to actually chill out a bit lmfaoo.

swap aus are so so much fun but i dont have many in mind!!!! BUT I LOVE THEM! i think it's really fun when you keep their personalities but give them other talents teehee. i think legit the only talent swap that i have ever thought of before was one my friend roman briefly did with the characters in the rp we were in, and erin got swapped with the ultimate palaeontologist lol. she'd be SO into giving tours to elementary classes in museums. not a second would pass without her dropping a dinosaur fact on you. the fantastic thing about erin is that being a children's entertainer practically defines her at first (because her entire life and persona is dedicated to being pippy) so removing that aspect of her and giving her another ultimate talent is soooo funny because its like. The Whimsy. It's Gone and she's Normal

a season 50 swap would be so funny as well mostly because i can not imagine naomis scared ass being anything but a runner however i think it would be kinda fucked up if she was the ultimate lucky student considering what she got away with 🤔 rie is similar to erin in the way her entire life is dedicated to her talent and the pursuit of perfection and being this beautiful pageant queen so she would need a talent that allows her that level of dedication i reckon. maybe shes the ultimate content creator and becomes this beauty vlogger who does millions and millions of brand deals!!!! idk LOTS TO THINK ABOUT!!!!

okay my lovebugs, i go back to work tomorrow so it's mobile/bedtime for me. that being said i will leave you with a little wanted plot if anyone is interested.

i'd like to rewrite a bit of the scream 5/6 lore of christina carpenter (the carpenter sister's mother). just that she wasn't that shitty of a mother. sure she wasn't great by any means. maybe that she was a business woman, always away on trips for work for long periods of time. that she kept the secret of sam's father to protect her because she knew how the town would view her after it had been revealed he was a killer. okay maybe a sam or tara. maybe billy or stu survive and there's this big confrontation over it. or billy knew but stu had offered to step up. maybe an au where christina stay's by billy's side while he faces jail or runs away with him if he successfully murdered sidney/or got away. hell maybe it's randy who steps up to the plate lol

I'm going to my parents house this week and I wanna try (heavily underline the word 'try') writing some Mungrove.

The question is WHAT I write cuz I have so many AUs but they have the same. fucking. plot.

We have :

Merman AU where Billy and Eddie knew each other since little, but Eddie got captured by the lab at some point. He got away during the massacre and has been living with uncle Wayne since then. They meet again when Billy moves in Hawkins.

Lab Lovers AU where Billy and Eddie are from the lab (5 and 6, cuz not watching the show gives me the liberty to do whatever I want with canon) and got away during the massacre (or with 8 jury is still on that one). They get separated when they find their biological families and meet once again in 1985, when Billy moves to Hawkins (This one also have : Billy joining the Hellfire Club's table from the start ; Billy and Max actually being close siblings; so much fucking codependency they literally can't survive without each other)

Childhood Friends AU where Eddie has been living with his father in California up to age 13 until he had to move with his uncle. They were best friends (and their first kiss but shhh). Both with shitty fathers, one got away while the other had to stay. Two boys, one faithful promise that keeps the hope burning while also slowly killing it. What happens when Billy moves in Hawkins and meets Eddie again? (I have two ideas for the childhood friends AU, but the other one I plan to write regardless of whether or not I do this one)

Soulmates AU where when your soulmate dies, you die. This one also features Steddie, but it will be later on (the story focuses more on Billy and Eddie's relationship up to the moment Billy dies and Eddie doesn't because he does have another soulmate keeping him alive). Billy is really shitty in this one (in the others I'm making him more tolerable). No, it is not Harringroveson. Eddie is the only one with two soulmates.

Lowkey I wanna do them all, but again : they have the same plot. I guess I could say the soulmate one is a little different, mostly because of the ending, but other than that they kinda go the same way yk? I just love the idea of Eddie suffering after Billy dies.

Yeah they are all angsty and I can 100% guarantee you that Billy keeps dying at the mall. But there's fluff! In some of them. At the beginning. Depends on AU. I love you guys. Please don't kill me.
