My research on soy
I started drinking soy milk after my son was born. I thought it was delicious and easy to digest. I was planning to give this to my baby when he turns 1. Looks like that’s not in the cards anymore. Here’s my research, copied and pasted from the source except for my headlines and the clarifiers in parentheses.
History
The soy plant was initially used as a method of fixing nitrogen. Soybean did not serve as a food until the discovery of fermentation techniques.
Harmful elements
Trypsin inhibitors and hemaglutinin (present in soy) have been rightly labeled “growth depressant substances.” They are deactivated during the process of fermentation. (But our industrial process does not ferment - we use an alkaline solution).
In order to remove as much of the trypsin inhibitor content as possible, the beans are first soaked in an alkaline solution. The alkaline soaking solution produces a carcinogen, lysinealine. Some trypsin inhibitors remain, even after such extreme refining! Trypsin inhibitor content of soy protein isolate can vary as much as 5-fold. Soy product producers are not required to state trypsin inhibitor content on labels, nor even to meet minimum standards.
Soybeans are also high in phytic acid or phytates. This is an organic acid, present in the bran or hulls of all seeds, which blocks the uptake of essential minerals-calcium, magnesium, iron and especially zinc-in the intestinal tract. It seems to be highly resistant to many phytate reducing techniques such as long, slow cooking. Only a long period of fermentation will significantly reduce the phytate content of soybeans. (Which again, we don’t do…)
When precipitated soy products are consumed with meat, the mineral blocking effects of the phytates are reduced.
History of soy in America
Large scale cultivation of the soybean in the United States began only after the Second World War, and quickly rose to 140 billion pounds per year. Most of the crop is made into animal feed and soy oil for hydrogenated fats- margarine and shortening. During the past 20 years, the industry has concentrated on finding markets for the byproducts of soy oil manufacture.
Carcinogens in American soy products
Hexane or other solvents are always used to extract oil from soybeans, and traces remain in the commercial product.
(As stated earlier) the beans are first soaked in an alkaline solution. The alkaline soaking solution produces a carcinogen, lysinealine.
Why is soy widely accepted in America?
Archer Daniel Midlands, the world’s major soy processor, spends heavily on advertising, especially for news programs on major networks. The company spent $4.7 million for advertising on “Meet the Press” and $4.3 million on “Face the Nation” during the course of a year.
ADM also has holdings in major newspapers. Naturally, the press presents soy in a favorable light. ADM lobbies heavily in Washington, and supports university research programs. ADM president Dwayne Andreas is a fanatic about spreading soy-based food around the world. There’s a lot in it for him-but not much in it for us.

Baby Food Market- Navigating through Factors Impacting Purchase Decisions
The nutritional value of baby food is by far considered the most significant parameter by parents. They look for the nutrition profile of products over price and all other options. Brands opt to create an emotional appeal to attract new parents and attract their shopping behavior in favor of their products. After nutrition, cost and organic ingredients are other two factors influencing on growth of the baby food market.
Supermalls are the most favorable destination for buying baby products closely followed by specialty stores and local grocery stores. Companies opting for science-led methods to position their products in the market such as nutrition-first meals and snacks. Some brands also offer custom menus suitable for baby’s stages of development.
Brand awareness is a crucial factor in this industry as more parents are becoming aware of their children’s health and nutrition requirements. They are switching to value products claiming high health benefits. Third-party validation is also a key strategy used by companies. Companies need to lean in on nutritional value and consumer education. Baby food market participants are exploring advanced technologies to bring more personalized menus and e-commerce is likely to emerge as a boon for brands in growing their product onboarding and consumer reach.

wip wednesday <3 :)

hello friends :) happy wednesday, hope you are well! happiest of birthdays to my babygirl Alex Claremont-Diaz, love you endlessly my beautiful big brained bisexual disaster with a heart of gold
thank you to @jellibuns @junebugclaremontdiaz @violetbaudelaire-quagmire @hgejfmw-hgejhsf @piratefalls @bigassbowlingballhead @leojfitz @ships-to-sail @suseagull04 @dragonflylady77 @kiwiana-writes @onthewaytosomewhere @wordsofhoneydew @priincebutt @magicandarchery @leaves-of-laurelin @eusuntgratie @duchessdepolignaca03 @saturntheday @itsmaybitheway @captainjunglegym @indestructibleheart @oxfordslutphase @tailsbeth-writes for the tags this week and on sunday :)
here's a snip from a tiny spy au coming this week if i can wrangle these men into submission:
“I'm serious, Alex. No theatrics. Certainly no blood. What's the code for trouble?” “Barracuda.” Henry clicks his tongue. “Too many syllables for my taste.” “Your name is too many syllables for my taste, yet you don't see me complaining.” “Touché.” He grasps Alex's shoulder, taking a long look into Alex's eyes. Henry's body is serene, but his eyes are always his tell for Alex. They're cloudy, tense; murky waters. “Be careful, please. We both know how dangerous these men are. Manu is unpredictable, even as the mafia equivalent of a middle manager.” “Aw, worried about me, sweetheart?” Alex grins, but it's a little unsteady, faltering at the edges. “Henry. This is easy. And if I’m lucky, no dicks will have to come out.” He laughs, but there’s no humor in it. He really, really doesn’t want any dicks out this time. “See you in five, okay?” He squeezes Henry's arm, then slips out of the supply closet. Back to work.

sometimes i get caught in little brain loops about the mechanics of how vampires eat. i get lost in the sauce about how much blood they'd need, what the exact mechanism for that might be
then i have to be like 'no u gotta be more loosey goosey about this' bc in reality, blood is so nutritionally incomplete that vampire bats, the only mammal obligate blood-eaters, consume so much blood just to get enough nutrients to live that they sometimes can't take flight after a meal, and have to piss pretty much constantly in order to get rid of excess water weight to be able to fly
which isn't very sexy

On one hand i would like to have a large baby. my family and gilgamesh’s come from a long line of beefy, nine pound plus chunkers. I was 9 and something lbs with a full head of hair and almost a week late. I want that baby fully cooked and maybe a little overdone. tons of studies not just anecdotal show that they just seem sort of… nicer and easier to deal with, like the biggest of the litter. they sleep more. they dont struggle in general as much and they gain weight easily and they also move a little slower. not saying they dont hit milestones but a fat ass baby will stay in its potted plant lump stage a little while longer before jumping into the running around sticking fingers in outlets stage.
on the other hand, i am so so concerned for the sanctity of my gooch. a nine pound baby will tear my grundle asunder. my taint to shreds.

Why It's Important to Replace Bottle Nipples Between Babies
Tumblr media
When it comes to taking care of an infant, there are a lot of decisions that need to be made.
One of the most important decisions you will make as a parent is whether you should replace bottle nipples between babies.
As a parent, it’s important to understand the benefits of replacing bottle nipples and the signs that it’s time to do so.
In this article, we’ll discuss why it’s important to replace bottle nipples between babies and how to choose the right one for your baby.
What is a Bottle Nipple?
A bottle nipple is the part of the bottle that the baby drinks from. It is typically made of silicone or latex and comes in a variety of sizes and shapes.
Bottle nipples can also be made of plastic or rubber. They are usually used in conjunction with a bottle to feed babies and come in a variety of flow rates.
Bottle nipples are designed to simulate the shape and feel of a mother’s nipple, making it easier for babies to transition from breastfeeding to bottle feeding.
Why Is It Important to Replace Bottle Nipples Between Babies?
Bottle nipples need to be replaced between babies for a few reasons. First, bottle nipples can become worn and stretched out over time, which can lead to increased incidents of colic and gas in babies.
Second, bottle nipples can harbor bacteria, which can be transferred to the baby, leading to infection.
Finally, bottle nipples can be a source of contamination if they are not properly cleaned and sanitized between uses.
What Are the Benefits of Replacing Bottle Nipples Between Babies?
Replacing bottle nipples between babies can have a number of benefits.
First, by replacing bottle nipples, you are ensuring that your baby is not exposed to any bacteria or contaminants that could be transferred from one baby to another.
Second, you are helping to reduce the risk of colic and gas, as new bottle nipples are less likely to be worn or stretched out.
Finally, you are helping to ensure that your baby has a comfortable and secure drinking experience.
Signs That It’s Time to Replace Bottle Nipples
There are a few signs that it’s time to replace bottle nipples. First, if the nipple has become discolored or cracked, it should be replaced.
Second, if the nipple has become stretched out or is no longer fitting securely on the bottle, it should be replaced.
Finally, if you’ve been using the same nipple for an extended period of time, it’s likely time to replace it.
Types of Bottle Nipples
There are a few different types of bottle nipples on the market. The most common types are latex, silicone, and plastic.
Latex nipples are soft and flexible, making them a great choice for babies who are just starting to transition from breastfeeding to bottle feeding.
Silicone nipples are firmer and more durable, making them great for babies who are already comfortable with bottle feeding.
Plastic nipples are the most affordable option and are great for older babies who are already used to drinking from a bottle.
How to Clean and Sanitize Bottle Nipples
It’s important to make sure that bottle nipples are properly cleaned and sanitized between uses.
To do this, you should first rinse the nipple with hot water. Then, you should use a bottle brush to scrub the nipple with a mild dish soap.
Finally, you should soak the nipple in a solution of water and a mild bleach solution for at least five minutes.
Make sure to rinse the nipple thoroughly with hot water before using it again.
How to Choose the Right Bottle Nipple for Your Baby
When it comes to choosing the right bottle nipple for your baby, there are a few things to consider.
First, you should consider the age of your baby. Bottle nipples are available in different sizes and flow rates, so it’s important to choose one that is appropriate for your baby’s age and stage of development.
Second, you should consider the material. Latex, silicone, and plastic nipples all have their own unique benefits, so it’s important to choose one that is best suited for your baby.
Finally, you should consider the shape. Bottle nipples come in a variety of shapes and sizes, so it’s important to choose one that your baby will be comfortable using.
Conclusion
As a parent, it’s important to understand why it’s important to replace bottle nipples between babies.
Replacing bottle nipples can help to reduce the risk of colic and gas, as well as reduce the risk of bacteria and contamination.
It’s also important to understand the different types of bottle nipples and how to choose the right one for your baby.
Finally, it’s important to make sure that you are properly cleaning and sanitizing bottle nipples between uses.
When it comes to taking care of your baby, should you replace bottle nipples between babies? The answer is a resounding yes!
