{✗} "How long did it take you to come up with that line?" Natasha quizzes, blowing a lock of red hair off of her forehead. She gives an amused little smirk, refocusing her eyes on the scope of her rifle. There's a beat and she feels the wind pick up her braid.
"Wait--was that Taylor SWIFT? Were you using Taylor Swift to flirt with me?" She grins.

“So…” Natasha could feel the skin prick up under her fingertips as she trailed them down Kate’s spine, “Do you happen to know anything about another vigilante by the name of Nightwing?”
To Kate’s credit the only thing that gave her away was a slight tensing in the muscles of her back -- something that Natasha likely would have missed if her hands hadn’t been on her.
“No.” Kate said, her voice light and airy, but a firm undertone was there. She knew what she was doing. Natasha hummed, pressed her lips to the curve of her upper vertebra, slowly making her way down her spine once more, only stopping to flip her over when she reached her tailbone. There was a tense silence between them, as there was whenever their work was brought up. Natasha laid her head comfortably on Kate’s stomach.
“I don’t believe you.” Natasha said.
“Oh?” Kate replied, legs coming together to trap Natasha between them, a goofy grin on her lips.
“Yep.”
“Well I don’t know why you wouldn’t believe your loving girlfriend of 3 years who adores you and definitely is not a vigilante.”
“Mhmm. Sure.”
Kate rolled them over once more, pinning Natasha lazily to the bed before kissing her, slow and passionate. They let the issue drop.
Later that night, when Natasha felt Kate get out of bed and head over toward the window, she pretended to be asleep. 15 minutes passed, and she went to the closet, slipped on her suit and climbed out that same window. Kate wasn’t hard to track, as Natasha knew all of her usual patrols. And there she was: bright scarlet hair, cowl, and batsuit, standing next to the eponymous Batman. They were talking, well, more like arguing, as four others dropped down from an adjacent rooftop to join them. Natasha recognized Red Hood - he was in the papers a lot. Crime Boss returned from the dead who had mysteriously begun fighting alongside Gotham’s caped crusader as of late. Two Robins: one smaller, the other wearing an odd red variation of the usual robin outfit. And then there was the man in the black and blue suit - blue bird sigil prominent across his chest and a mask that barely covered his eyes. He moved fluidly over toward the Robins as he exchanged words with Red Hood. That had to be Nightwing.
Batman and Kate greeted the newcomers, and Natasha silently thanked herself for putting a comm in Kate’s cowl. She put the earpiece in her ear, switched it on, and in the distance she could see Kate flinch, obviously aware of the comm being turned on.
“Hey there, stud.” Natasha purred into the comm, “I thought you didn’t know anything about this Nightwing character.”
Kate looked around slowly, which seemed to alarm Batman & Company, because all but one of them crouched down, looking around with her. Red Hood remained standing, his hand on his holster, which was cute, Natasha had to admit. As if he’d be able to see her in time to be able to use it.
“Sorry, thought I saw something. False alarm.” Kate said, and the group relaxed. They moved on with their meeting, and while Natasha could hear everything Kate was saying, she could only pick-up bits and pieces of what the others were talking about.
“Red Hood will take--”
“--is going to Robin--”
“Shut up, Jason.”
And then finally, near what Natasha presumed to be the end of the meeting, the piece of intel she’d been looking for:
“Well maybe if Dick wasn’t such a showoff,” grumbled Red Hood, and Natasha grinned. They ended the meeting a few minutes later, and Kate made an excuse that she had other business to attend to and needed to cut out on patrol. Oddly enough, Red Hood offered to take up her patrol radius for the night, which, there had to be something Natasha was missing there. She’d look into it.
Batman & Company headed off into the night, and Kate found her a few minutes later.
“I’m not telling you anything about Nightwing.” Kate sighed, dropping down next to Natasha on the rooftop, “How did you even?”
“Darling, you’re not exactly subtle.” Natasha smiled, “I’ve gotten all I need anyway.” Kate groaned and let her head fall onto Natasha shoulder.
“You’re a menace.”
“I’m an Avenger, being a menace is part of the job description.”
