What your favourite Eternals character says about you
Based only on my opinions.
Ikaris: you love Richard Madden, or you love characters who are fucked up and do bad things but for understandable reasons. Or both.
Ajak: Milf lover, team mom edition. You either think she's a mom friend or you think she's just as to blame for everything but you like morally ambiguous characters so it's okay.
Gilgamesh: you're obsessed with the "it's rotten work"/"not to me. not if it's you." quote. You want someone who loves you through all hardships and/or you relate to the role of being a caretaker for your loved ones.
Thena: the same as Gilgamesh and you love Angelina Jolie and badass women. You are also a softie (hidden or not) and might be touch starved.
Phastos: you have the biggest brain cells. That's right, you have more than one! You hate the mcu fandom but you're still here for some reason. You were usually the one in the group project who did most of the work and put in the most effort, even if everyone else was competent and did their own work. You have suffered burnout.
Makkari: You're also a collector of many, many things. You probably ship drukkari and/or wish she was seen more outside of her relationship with Druig. They wouldn't have been able to find Tiamut without her and you think she deserves more appreciation!
Kingo: You love purple. You want to watch his movies. You love characters who appear selfish and but also care deeply for the people they love. You love Tony Stark (and for the same reasons you love Kingo), but if you don't, you think Kingo is like him but done better. Your strongest trait is understanding other people's decisions even when you don't agree with them, and you value people who have beliefs they stand by but won't hurt people over.
Sprite: Comic relief characters who finally get to explore their dark side or personal issues are your favourite. You might have abandonment issues or struggle with your self-image. You feel like no one knows your real self. You love chaotic little bastards. You love those "shout out to [character type] Gotta be one of my favourite genders" memes.
Sersi: You love soft, good, kind characters more than anything. You have a hard time making decisions. You were the one in the group project who always did a good job and put the effort in but never wanted to be in charge or give the presentation but would step up if needed (alternatively, you were usually the one in charge and you always really appreciated these types of group members). You might be a little touch starved.
Druig: you're a basic bitch. I'm sorry but it's true. You're also a loki fan.
Bonus!
Ben and Jack Stoss: You're also a Phastos fan, and you want to see a lot more of him and his family in both the MCU and in the fandom. You hate the fandom for ignoring this perfect family and the first gay kiss in the MCU.
Karun: you have the biggest brain cell. Damn, you wish you'd gotten to see his eternals documentary.

unpopular opinion, eternals is not a bad movie. It has it's flaws but it's far from being the "worst" mcu film. At least it tried to be different from the other mcu films in which it was more of an epic film that's more character driven and it sucks how not a lot of people gave it a chance. Plus Phastos and Ben are the best. And yes, maybe the concept would've worked better as a miniseries due to all the worldbuilding and so much going on in one film but still, an underrated movie that deserved better imo (along with the marvels)
I thought it was a great film. It was an epic style film spanning decades and lifetimes which I enjoyed. Marvel had never done that before. And yeah Phastos and Ben deserve more love. I thought it was a solid movie. It wasn't even my favorite or anything but I really enjoyed it.

Second: So Thena and Gil stay at Phastos'. One night Thena had nightmares and sneaked out of the guest room, in nothing but Gil's shirt, to let Gil sleep. So she's in the kitchen, stealing some ice cream to calm her nerves. Ben comes in the kitchen because he heard something and got worried. So they both talk and Thena tells him more about Mahd Wy'ry and the journey she and Gil had after they split up. That she sometimes still feels like it would have been better to erase her memories and all that. And of course that she thinks Phastos doesn't want her here because she's dangerous. So Ben tries to comfort her and assure her that she's wrong.
Some more Ben, he deserves it. He's a good guy.
Thena woke slowly. She was used to waking with a sudden and sharp plunge back into reality. But she recognised the feeling of having been asleep for longer than usual--for days.
She turned her head over, her nose brushing against Gil's. He was clearly exhausted, passed out and untouchable by the world around him. If she had been asleep for days she was sure that he hadn't slept a wink all the while. His heavy arm was draped over her, and she could tell that he had scooped her up into his arms before exhaustion had loosened his grip for her.
Thena was careful about slipping up and away. She didn't want to wake him. But she had no idea what time it was, exactly how long she'd been asleep--any of it.
The house was dark. The light above the stove was on at least. She looked at the fridge, holding the calendar with Jack's activities on it. She had been asleep for four days, at this point. That was why Gil was so dead tired.
"You're up!"
Thena turned, finding Ben shuffling into the kitchen in slippers and a fluffy robe. She blinked. "What time is it?"
"Late," he sufficed to say with a smile, "or early, if you prefer. Everyone is asleep."
Thena nodded, looking down at the gold bands around her wrists.
"Phastos has been waiting to check up on you." Ben spoke with a soft voice, his tone gentle. He made his way to the freezer. "He wanted to while you were asleep, but..."
Thena tilted her head, watching as Ben emerged with a tub of ice cream.
"He and Gil had a," he bobbed his head, "disagreement."
Thena tried to ascertain what that meant. She had the information she already knew, at least. And she could guess that if she had been completely out of commission then her Gilgamesh wouldn't have been in any mood to have people around. "Did he forbid you from me?"
Ben just chuckled, pulling out spoons and bowls next. "Forbade us from even seeing you--even Jack."
She softened at the mention of her nephew. "Does he know?"
"He knows you weren't feeling well," Ben shrugged, still able to take this all in stride despite the dangerous nature of her condition. "And that you didn't want him to get sick--that's why you were in bed all weekend."
He pushed one of the bowls towards her. She examined it for a moment before acquiescing. "Gilgamesh?"
He understood what she was asking. "Didn't leave your side. Still hasn't, I'm guessing."
Thena nodded, looking down the hall towards their guestroom, compelled only by her desire to see him. She sighed. "I'd like to be angry with him but I understand why he hasn't."
Ben shrugged, although his smile told her that he knew more than he was necessarily saying. "Husbands worry."
She managed a smile back at him before taking another bite, "they do."
"He told Phastos that apparently he's seen you in this condition before?"
Thena nodded, taking in a deep breath. Ben didn't rush her, eating his ice cream at his own pace. "We married within the first century of being out in Australia. He'll say it was his idea, but I'm really the one who suggested we go and do it."
Ben hid his laugh in his spoon. They certainly sounded like a married couple.
Thena's smile was soft. "As far as I was concerned, we have been bonded to each other for thousands and thousands of years. Well before this...sickness."
"That's how you ended up in Australia?"
"We somewhat ended up there after a long, long journey," Thena mused. Of all the memories she had to really search for, these were never among them. "It's mild in weather, and as far from the populace as possible. I was prepared to lie down and wither away in that desert. I would have if not for him."
"He followed me--all the way out there. Stayed by my side, through the worst and the ugliest. He built the foundation for our house, laid bricks and mortar. He's the reason we have a home out there."
Ben smiled a little brighter, "I'm sure he would say that his home is out there because of you."
Thena let out a quiet laugh, "I suppose that does sound like him. He's terribly soft hearted and romantic in nature."
"I think you're more romantic than you think you are," he grinned, taking a bite of ice cream again. "Love can do that to a person."
Thena took a bite. "I suppose you're right."
"You snuck off for ice cream?"
Thena's smile turned wide and bright, pushing away the dark edges of the room. "I was going to bring you some."
Gil just leaned in, lowering his head. Thena raised a spoonful for him, meeting him in the middle. His hand slid over her shoulder and down her back.
They certainly acted like a married couple too.
Ben sat silently as they looked at each other. Whatever they were saying - questions, apologies, pleading - didn't need words. Everything managed to get said between their eyes and how their hands drifted over each other.
Gil sighed, accepting whatever they'd agreed upon, settling on wrapping his arms around her shoulder and leaning over her back. "Bed's cold."
"I was talking to our brother-in-law," she laughed, although it sounded like she was trying to scold him.
Ben only smiled. "I didn't mean to steal her from you."
Gil faked a pout, "it doesn't take much when sweets are involved."
Thena took another bite for herself before raising her spoon up for GIl again. She looked at Ben. "Perhaps we should consider going back-"
"Please," Ben gripped the counter in urgency. Thena and Gil both blinked at the response. "I know he hasn't expressed it well, but...it's made Phastos so happy to have you both here."
The couple traded a look. Thena frowned, "I do not want to outstay our welcome."
"You are family," Ben said more firmly this time. "You are always welcome."
Thena looked up at Gil. She still didn't know exactly what was said between him and their brother while she was asleep. But the way he was holding her didn't exactly indicate anything good. She squeezed his hand.
Gil sighed, resting his cheek against her hair. "You want to stay?"
"I want you to stay," she clarified. "I want you to have time around other people--time out of the desert, time to enjoy more in life."
Gil sighed again, heavier this time. He looked at her, brushing back some hair as he leaned down to kiss her. He barely pulled away enough to speak, "I can enjoy life plenty so long as I have you."
Ben poked at the ice cream in his bowl; very romantic indeed. "Jack has been saying he wants to try making breakfast for Aunt Thena. Now that she's up and 'feeling better', perhaps we should let him."
Thena smiled, leaning back into Gil's embrace. "I think we should."

Thinking About Doing a BenTos Anthology Starting January
Hey people!
Tumblr media
Since the amount of BenTos stuff is tragic over on AO3, so I’m thinking of writing an anthology series of small moments with the two of them because Ben and Phastos deserve more fics. I’m thinking at least 9 fics, maybe more. If you have a request for it, feel free to send it over via ask!

I watched eternals and ok I have THOUGHTS so I’m putting it here and I’m in a cab frantically typing this so it’s basically unfiltered thoughts kay thanks
- it’s different. It got a very obvious mainstream look. It is still a high budget, heavy CGI or like “comic book hero’s” movie but the more I think about it, the less I find a movie from the last few movies in the MCU to compare it to. So, it’s still very super hero movie, just not like the MCU.
- it’s felt a bit like watching Captain America Civil War. We know all of them, and we know they’ve interacted with each other.
- Something felt incomplete, I think it’s the limited amount we know about each of the eternals on their own? But it’s not really a problem
- seeing Kit Harrington and Richard Madden interact, with a sersi involved? The GoT/SOIAF fan in my has died. KINGS OF THE NORTH BABY!!!
SPOILERS-ish AHEAD
- Ikaris’s storyline was somewhat unpredictable, but also if the fate of his character is sealed, I just need to see what they do.
He’s also hilarious and Richard Madden has wonderful comedic timing
Also, seeing a super hero cry. Shed tears. Kill him self because he loves Sersi too much to kill her, but I’m not killing her is going against everything he believes in? I love Ikaris he is my favourite idiot boy.
- as a desi, everything about Kingo just… worked. PROPER HINDI BEING SPOKEN HAS SAVED ME AND I DONT EVEN LIKE HINDI!!!??? & THE dance sequence, the BHARATNATAYAM?? 12 year old me would learn that choreography in 5 min flat. 22 year old me will need an hour but I know I can do it.
HE SAID DISHOOM. DISHOOM.
- Sprite is such a fucking mood. Her relationship with Dane??? With Kingo?? Kingo and Dane need to meet now too, properly.
The illusions
Also when Kingo said he worked in the movies because he missed Sprite’s story telling
- Thena, my moon and stars and my favourite goddess of war. I want to hug u and hold ur hand and kiss ur knuckles baby you are loved. She can do no wrong and will do no wrong
- GILGAMESH DESERVES BETTER. I’ve concluded that Gilgamesh is a fun house husband who would make the best dad jokes. Also thena and Gil are my only OTP from the eternals. When he dies, the fkn crying.
- When Thena killed the Deviant, everyone in the room felt so much fkn relief. She’s so cool
- I really love Gilgamesh and thena so much. On their own and together
- Salma Hayek did such a WONDERFUL job, the mothering and the nurturing. GOD
- PHASTOS!!! Hilarious & romantic and a good father!! Dude just seeing him KISS A MAN on the big screen?? A MAN OF COLOUR!! GAY MEN KISS IS A MARVEL FILM GODDAMN IT. and the way he talks about his HUSBAND BEN? Wonderful. This is essentially the exchange between him and other eternals
“I thought u lost all hope in humanity”
“They remind me that there’s good left”
- Druig is a himbo I think. I like him. If I could control the minds of people, I too would contemplate taking over humanity to get rid of greed and violence etc etc
- Makkari and Druig are cute. I want more Makkari content because She is so fun. She is every quirky incorrect Marvel quote but in actuality. Also something about her signing her words brings in so much personality to her whole character
- HARRY STYLES IS EROS CONFIRMED
- MY BABY MANS DANE WHITMORE IS BACK
Overall? Imma need to watch it again to decide how much I love it but it’s a 3/5.

Alright now that I've had like a day since I finished Eternals... let's go.
Sersi isn't getting enough praise. She's a complete badass and I loved her so much.
Sprite was an amazing character and I loved how they just grew bitter with humanity since their in a child body. That made so much sense and I loved Sprite so much. I will protect them with my life.
Kingo was hilarious and he deserves every but of praise he gets.
Thena is not getting talked about enough. My queen got hurt badly over this movie and I will protect her with my life... yeah she's more capable than me.
Druig I figured was gonna be one of my favs as soon as I heard his name. I know we arent supposed to like him, but I love how he's so empathetic and impulsive together that he ends up being a worse person because of it. I found him to be a breakout character for me.
Makkari, my beautiful Makkari, you are too good for the MCU. Omg, a speedster that's deaf is a perfect concept. She's so sweet and compassionate and relaxed, yet she will flip if prompted. I loved that we now have 2 ASL users in the MCU with Echo and Makkari. I have the beautiful headcanon that Makkari and the Eternals all made Sign Languages across the world.
Gilgamesh, you were too good for this movie. I screamed when Gil died, like how dare they. HE MADE PIE AND USED HIS LIFE TO HELP THENA AND THIS IS WHAT HE GETS?!?!?! In all seriousness though, I'm truly distraught that they just snuffed him out like that, but I have hope that he will return down the line with the World Forge.
Phastos is the first openly queer character in the movie side of the MCU and it took too long. I'm so happy he's in the movie, his character was awesome being the tech guy of the Eternals, and it sucks that he's the one who made the atom bomb. I think he had one of the most interesting stories in the movie. We get to see him have a family which was awesome. I'm shocked they got to do all of that in this movie, I honestly thought we'd get a wlw relationship before we got a mlm relationship in the movies and I gotta give em points for going with this. This was great and I'm very happy about this.
Ajak was interesting. It's depressing that she caused her own death but such is life. I love that it showed how close they were with her and it makes her death feel like it has meaning. I kinda hope we don't see her return but I'm sure we are going to.
Ikaris, I'm gonna say this and I'm gonna lose the little credibility I have... Ikaris shouldn't have died (should he have actually died). His story could have become more interesting. He went from falling for Sersi, to becoming a pawn for Ajak and Ahersham? to murdering his closest friend for Ahersham, and fighting the rest of his family to do what he thought was right. He was a perfect soldier, not a good man. Then he realizes that, and instead of letting him figure out where to go from that he flies into the sun and dies.... fuck them. He could have become more interesting but they suck. Whatever.
Karun was a perfect gem. He better return down the line, I doubt it but he should. Kinda wish he had more to do and could have helped but it's whatever, he was great.
Dane was one of the characters I was most excited for in this movie and lemme tell you!!!! How dare they. It's fine he'll be a bigger character down the line but I'm a bit upset. It is what it is.
Character Ranking (Top 5)
5. Sersi
4. Sprite
3. Makkari
2. Druig
1. Thena
Relationship Ranking
4. Sersi and Ikaris... I think it's supposed to not be good. I think that was the point. He was obsessed with her but also with his mission and she moved on.
3. Dane and Sersi
2. Phastos and Ben
1. Makkari and Druig

!ETERNALS SPOILERS! mini rant
-i liked sprite at the beginning but her whole little obsession with ikaris was so annoying to watch, she cried so much when they found out that ajak was dead but the second they found out that ikaris did it then she stopped caring just to follow him which is just sad
-GILGAMESH DESERVED BETTER, idc how they do it but marvel better find a way to bring him back bc he was too good to die so soon
-sersi is such a powerful character and i’m so glad she’s now officially in the mcu, i don’t really have much of an opinion on her bc she did everything right so…
-i need more druig and makkari, their connection on screen was so profound and beautiful to watch and her beating the shit out of ikaris when she thought that he’d killed druig was probably the best thing i’ve ever seen and the forehead touch made me so soft <3
-phastos and ben are absolutely adorable and the amount of support that ben showed to his husband when phastos explained the situation was incredibly touching and i’m gonna die alone
-kingo and karun were so funny but i really would’ve loved to have seen kingo fight with the others at the end but i’m glad karun was safe cus he would’ve gotten himself killed trying to film everything
-the whole good thena vs evil thena was confusing at first and a little annoying at the end (her not being able to help gilgamesh when he was being killed bc she was having “a moment” was incredibly upsetting)
-they pulled a zendaya with kit harrington in this press thing, they put him in every interview and every trailer and he was there for a whole two minutes and i’m sorry to say that he was kinda useless (side note: i missed the second post credit scene bc i didn’t know about it and ik it involved him so if anyone saw it pls share)

So, i had more ideas. For a few weeks now i thought about Thena and Gil staying some time at Phastos home with his family. Because obviously, Jack adores them and Thena wants Gil to have some time in a different place than Australia. I'll split it up so its easier.
First: I thought about Thena asking Phastos if he can create some bracelets for her, that work kinda like those ring things that Phastos used against Ikaris at the Beach. So if Mahd Wy'ry takes over her she's unable to use her powers to hurt someone. So when Mahd Wy'ry takes Thena over, she's like frozen in place until she faints and stays in a kind of coma for a few days. So Gil finds out about the Bracelets and blames Phastos, because he "only cares about him and the safety of Ben and Jack, and doesn't care about Thenas condition and pain and is ine of those who thought its better to erase her memories." So Phastos tries to explain that Thena asked him, because she didn't wanted to hurt them and Gil could stay a little longer, living a "normal" life. But Gil doesn't believe him and gets angry. Until Thena wakes up days and days later to explain.
"Gil, come on man, you gotta eat."
"Out."
"Gil-"
That was the end of the conversation as Gil focused his energy into his hands, flicking his fingers hard enough to push the door in his brother's face.
Thena was asleep in the guest bed, where they had been staying for a week already. She'd been asleep for three days, at this point. Jack had asked why Aunt Thena was asleep literally all weekend.
Gil had demanded to know why there were bracelets on her wrists--why they were glowing with Phastos' energy signature and why she had collapsed in the middle of the backyard out of nowhere.
He didn't like the answers he got.
The fight that ensued wasn't pretty.
Phastos had argued that Thena had asked him to--to make the bracelets that would subdue her, to keep them safe if she fell into an episode while Gil was asleep or away from her side (as unlikely as that was).
Maybe she hadn't asked him to create something that would literally put her to sleep for days on end, though. That was a miscalculation on his part--he admitted it. The devices draining her of Cosmic Energy had no way to differentiate between the excess energy she could summon and the energy she needed to just...be awake. So, as soon as they activated, she'd gone completely limp.
"My bad," he said.
Gil was furious. He was glad Jack had been at school when they'd discovered the problem, because he'd held nothing back when confronting his brother, cradling Thena in his arms.
"Look at her!" he had screamed at him, holding the woman he loved as she lay barely breathing. He had carried her inside, to their room for the time being. He'd tucked her into the bed, brushed her hair out of her face, and he hadn't moved since.
Phastos had resorted to sending Jack with food for him. He was playing dirty and he fucking knew it.
"Can't come in, bud," Gil had answered, hearing how rough his voice was from screaming at the top of his lungs and then not talking at all for two days after. "Aunt Thena...Aunt Thena isn't feeling good. She doesn't want you to get sick, okay?"
"Oh...okay. I hope she feels better."
Gil did too.
"Gil," Phastos tried again, leaning against the doorway. Gil was sitting beside the bed, watching every slow rise and fall of Thena's chest. "I'm not leaving unless you talk to me."
"Gonna be waiting a long fuckin' time, then."
Phastos nodded, "okay, guess I deserved that."
"Deserve a lot more," Gil grumbled, glaring at him only for a second before returning his eyes to the woman asleep. He held her hand in his.
"Gil, you know she's fine," Phastos sighed, holding his glasses in his hand while the other was in his pocket. "I'll make adjustments, but you know I would never do anything to hurt my own sister."
"Do I?"
"Come on," Phastos scoffed. The hurt was clear in his voice.
"Do I?" Gil repeated, really looking at him this time. "I seem to remember someone voting to erase her memories, some couple hundred years ago."
"That is not fair, and you know it," Phastos pointed at him, holding his ground. "It was a safe option for the whole team."
"For Thena?" Gil argued, and it made his point effectively.
Phastos ran a hand over his face before slipping his glasses back on. "She suggested it, Gil. You have to believe that. But yes, I agreed. Because the safety of my husband and child comes first-"
"I know, Phastos!" Gil stood, the force of it sending the chair flying into the wall. "But I have to consider the safety of my wife first!"
Phastos inhaled, keeping himself in check. He had never been on the receiving end of Gil's temper. He didn't know Gil had a temper at all. He also didn't know that Gil called Thena his wife. "Did you two-"
"What does it matter?" That one cut him even deeper, and Gil could tell. But he wasn't feeling particularly forgiving at the moment.
Phastos watched as Gil pulled her hand into his again, so gently that he seemed afraid he would break her.
"I've seen her like this before, you know."
The Genius Eternal blinked, surprised not only by the information but that Gil was saying it freely.
"Worst week of my life," Gil puffed out, tears in his eyes. He held her fingers to his forehead, hunched over as if reliving the pain of it.
Phastos dared to take a step or two closer. Maybe his brother didn't want him there, but he was going to be there for him--and his sister.
"It was...hundreds of years ago, at this point. She'd had the worst episode I'd seen yet," Gil shuddered, trying to blink his tears away and force the words out. "After I got her calmed down...she was in a deeper sleep than I'd ever seen before. And she slept, and slept. I...I didn't know if she'd wake up, Phastos."
He gulped, seeing the raw look in Gilgamesh's eyes. Gil was always so happy at heart, so strong in nature. It came with that heart of his. But that heart had always been entirely Thena's, Phastos realised. And the thought of losing her had always not been an option for GIl.
"I was ready to accept it," Gil admitted with no small effort. He looked sick just to say it aloud. "I laid down beside her, ready to wake up and know I'd never look into those eyes again, or hear her voice...her laugh."
Phastos blinked, taking off his glasses again so he could press his tear ducts dry.
"But she did wake up," Gil turned back to her, smiling as if he could see it now. He ran a hand over her forehead, letting his fingers dip into her hair splayed out over the pillows. "I woke up and she was curled up against me like it never happened."
"I had no idea."
"No one does." Because it was just them, out there, for hundreds and hundreds of years. They had lived a life together completely separate from the rest of their family.
It was easy to forget as someone who hadn't seem them in so long.
"I can't go through that again, Phastos." Gil shook his head, his lip wobbling and his throat clenched tight. He squeezed Thena's hand, as tight as he dared. "I can't watch her like this."
"I'm sorry, Gil." He meant it, and he knew that he would never be able to express it enough to the man his sister loved.
"I know you are."
"I-"
"Phastos," Gil cut him off. He was done sharing--done listening. "Leave me alone."
"Gil," he sighed, but didn't even get a glance.
"I want to be alone with my wife."

So, I live for chaos. I had this idea where Jack has some sort of competition in a school activity of his, whether it be soccer, football, or whatever, and of course there’s that one parent that thinks their kid is better than everyone else’s and isn’t very nice when talking about the other kids *cough cough* Karen. This person then starts to talk about Jack and Thena nearly goes apeshit on their ass while Gil defends her actions with “Well, they deserved it” and Phastos scolds Thena for it (even though he kind of wanted to do the same thing but he wants to set a good example for his kid) and she just doesn’t care. Can you maybe write it please?
Also, I absolutely LOVE your work! The way you write Thena and Gil is some of the best writing I’ve seen! That’s not even an exaggeration.
"What is the purpose of this activity?"
"To get the ball into the other team's net."
Thena's head moved like a sprinkler head, smooth and steady as she tracked the ball across the field and back again. "They're not very good at it."
"They're kids," Gil chuckled beside her, also watching the game's progress. "They're not going to be good at it for a while."
Despite the criticism, Thena watched intently as Jack took the ball, running as fast as little feet could take him. She inhaled, holding it as he kicked towards the goal.
It missed by a mile and a half.
"That's okay, Jack!" Phastos shouted from beside her, clapping for his son and waving. "It's okay, son!"
"Good effort!" Ben cheered from next to his husband.
Thena didn't offer any vocal support. But when Jack looked over at them she gave him a singular nod of approval. He didn't answer his fathers at all but he returned the hilariously serious gesture. It seemed to motivate him.
"Jack Stoss needs to learn to aim."
"Easy," Gil grabbed Thena's arm, already feeling her ready to turn around and something not very guardians-of-Earth-ly to the woman behind them.
"You heard what she said," she argued, but Gilgamesh held her, firm but not hard. He released her arm only when his had wrapped around her waist securely.
"I know," he whispered. He knew Phastos had heard her, even if Ben's human ears might not have. "But she's just...being petty."
"Y'know he has missed four practices this season?--Aiden hasn't missed a single one."
Thena bristled, still listening to the woman criticise her nephew. "If she wishes to see a demonstration of pettiness, I am happy to provide it."
"Yes, Jack, kick it!" Phastos shouted, holding up his fists hopefully as Jack came around to their end again.
It missed by less, this time.
"He's going to be the reason they lose."
Gil was quick, clasping Thena's hands entirely between his, squeezing them shut to hide the golden glow of Cosmic Energy. He kissed her cheek, nestling her closer to him as an excuse, "we swore--no harm comes to any human by our own hand."
"They should put him on the bench."
Thena pursed her lips, although she did let her Energy recede. "Are we sure she's human?"
"Hey, I don't like her either." Thena raised her brows as her brother nudged her. She was under the impression he was playing ignorant to the piercing voice behind them, but it seemed she had been mistaken in that. "But Karen is in charge of snacks every other week. If we piss her off, she'll 'forget how many to bring' again."
The woman would let the other children starve to ensure the success of her own?
Gil read the expression well and shook his head. "Try to ignore her."
"Aiden, make that goal!"
Thena squinted, feeling the woman's breath rustling her hair from behind as she leaned over to scream with all her might. She glanced at Gil, "I do not see how that will be at all possible."
"Go, Jack!" Ben shouted, ignorant - maybe wilfully so - to his husband and his siblings and their quarrels.
"Let's go, buddy!" Gil shouted, raising one hand to project his voice while the other stayed firmly around Thena's waist to anchor her to him.
"That's it!" Phastos clenched his fists again.
It got in. It got in!
"That's my boy!" Phastos jumped, wrapping one arm around Ben while the other waved to their son.
Thena blinked as Jack looked at her. She smiled, offering a wave. It wasn't the screaming cheers of his parents, but he beamed, sending her a thumbs up.
"At least he did something this season."
Thena raised her brows. She'd had enough. It took a little precision, but she was still the Warrior Eternal; they all sat once the excitement had died down, waiting for the handshake to finish before they took the kids home. Thena slipped her hand behind her, pressing her palm to the underside of the next level up.
She only needed a finite amount of Energy to summon her smallest weapon.
"Ow!"
Gil and Phastos both turned around as the woman yelped, falling onto her seat in response. She pulled her shoe off, looking to see what was the cause of her pain but found nothing.
Thena remained facing ahead, waving as Jack trotted away from centre field. She felt Gil's hand tap her shoulder but she shrugged, the absolute picture of innocence.
