STARMAN- A. STEENBECK
Tumblr media
Auggie Steenbeck x GN reader
Part two. Part one can be found here: https://www.tumblr.com/coolgal5/738171031067443200/starman-a-steenbeck
After Dr. Hickenlooper had given the tour you noticed Woodrow glancing over to the “Bleeps and Blips” seemingly intrigued by them. Dr. Hickenlooper had walked over and began to discuss it with him. Dr. Hickenlooper called you over and told you Woodrow’s theory about it being a date on the galactic calendar.
When it came time to eat you decided you’d sit down with Midge and Auggie again considering they were really the only people you had interacted with so far. When you walked over the the table and sat down across from Midge when Auggie had been asking about her glasses, which she responded to by taking them off revealing what seemed to be a black eye.
“Gadzooks, what did you do to deserve that?” He asked
“Nothing.” she quickly shut him down.
“Who hit you?” He pushed further
“Nobody, it’s grease paint, to feel like my character.” She explained.
“How does she get a black eye? In the story” He asked.
“Well she doesn’t in the story, it’s on the inside.” She explained
Auggie turned to you, examining your face up close.
“You didn’t mention you were an astronomer when we talked last time” He stated, now focusing all his attention onto you.
“It never came up.” You replied, glancing down at your plate of food on the table in front of you.
“I don’t think I ever caught your name, mind telling me?” He asks.
You replied with your name very bluntly. Talking to him came so easy, like it was meant to happen.
“That’s a very nice name.” He says, nodding
Your cheeks heat up at the compliment.
“Oh thank you.” You replied quickly.
You continue to chat with Auggie and midge until you decided to walk back to the motel until you had to go view the astronomical ellipses.
You sat by the bathroom window of your bungalow smoking a cigarette. The warm breeze of the desert combined with the setting sun was very refreshing. The window facing yours was open and a light was flicked on to reveal Auggie standing there clutching a piece of paper.
“So I suppose we’re neighbors” You flash a smile at him.
“I suppose so.” He states before holding up the paper. It was the photo he had taken of you, Midge, and Dinah at lunch earlier in the day.
“I’m glad that came out, I approve.” You say, leaning farther out the window and pressing your arms against the sill. You and him sat there, in comfortable silence for a few moments before he spoke again.
“Can I take another photo of just you? Not for publication purposes” He asked
“I thought you never asked permission?” You replied. He simply shrugged and held up his camera.
“Don’t move” he ordered.
A snapping was heard and he put the camera down, leaning up against his own window sill. He stared into your eyes and you decided to utilize a sudden burst of confidence.
“Are you married?” You asked the question that had been on your mind earlier.
“I’m a widower, don’t tell my kids by the way.” He responded. Your chest felt a pang at his reply. Nobody deserves to lose a wife and you felt even worse for his children. You recalled how you felt after you had lost your mother.
“Why? I mean I wasn’t planning on it, I’m sorry” you replied
“Yea, they know by the way, just barely.” He says, looking at the ground.

The contrast between Florence on instagram with her other movies vs DWD is striking. Her original “I’m hired” post gushes about Olivia and is so excited for the project. Once it started she really only brings up the crew being amazing and nothing about her fellow actors, the experience, the director. She has a million photos for midsommer and black widow.
You can tell she didn’t have a good experience on this film at all. I feel bad for her. It will be interesting to see the press tour for this. I’m sure she’ll be professional but we’ll all be able to read between the lines.
Yeah, it's a shame all around how that film turned out.

Reylo/Boyega anon: where you by chance in MCU fandom in... I wanna say 2015? Not exactly the same thing but iirc two of the main male avengers actors did an interview where they slut shamed Black Widow for having been (arguably) interested in both of their characters. It was Renner and Evans. It was during the Ultron press tour. Movie tried to bury clintasha and romanogers in favor of brucenat. Then civil war happened, both Scarjo and Sebastian pushed buckynat. Early 2010s MCU was messy

Nobody's perfect. Not even superheroes.
But God, I am so very, very tired of investing in major female characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, only to see them meet an ignominious end. Let's set aside the fact that it took 21 tries to even get a female-led film, 2019's Captain Marvel. There have always been interesting, bad-ass women in the MCU — they just keep being done dirty.
The men of the MCU routinely save the day, seemingly with nine lives to spare (not that I'm complaining about having more Tom Hiddleston in my life, but for the love of the Norse gods, how many times has Loki been brought back from the dead?). Meanwhile, the women of the MCU's greatest asset seems to be the most stereotypically feminine of traits: sacrifice.
Don't get me wrong, sacrifice is a heroic quality. It takes a special kind of person to lay down their life for the greater good. But it gets exhausting when that special kind of person seems to be mostly female (thank you for your service, though, Tony Stark and Vision).
First, there was Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a. Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), who, in the quest for the Infinity Stones, sacrifices herself for the Soul Stone, sparing Hawkeye's life. Her justification? Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) has a family who needs him. So what does that say about Black Widow's adoptive sister Yelena (Florence Pugh) or other close friends who make up her found family?
A lot has been written about that narrative choice, and it's arguably the most polarizing death in the MCU. Especially since it came after Natasha's character endured outright sexism for years, particularly in the Age of Ultron, where the script reduced her to her reproductive choices, having her call herself a "monster" because she can't have children. Despite all that, it might've been possible to take her death as a moment of valor that served the storytelling — if Marvel didn't keep recycling that motif to motivate its male characters.
Here lies Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), Ajak (Salma Hayek), Wanda/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), and the newest addition to the dead fierce ladies club, Dr. Jane Foster (Natalie Portman). And that's not even including the saintly mamas who have died to light a fire under their sons (hi, Thor and Shang-Chi). Or the varying degrees of lip service to female empowerment Marvel has come under fire for over the years.
Sure, a past version of Gamora may be alive in the multiverses, and not even Elizabeth Olsen knows if her character is permanently dead after the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. But I bet you can guess how she (maybe) died at the end: That's right, sacrificing herself for the greater good, even after being villainized for "breaking the rules," something her male counterparts do regularly. Sure, Wanda's rule-breaking might have cost many innocent lives, but it's not like she caused a universe-destroying Incursion (looking at you, Doctor Strange) or unleashed a wave of supervillains in a last-ditch effort to get into college (you too, Parker).
Even with all that, it was not until Thor: Love and Thunder that I finally reached my breaking point with Marvel's treatment of its female heroes' mortality. And I had such high hopes! Throughout the press tour, Natalie Portman made much of her return to the MCU being predicated on Jane finally having something interesting to do. The trailers showed Portman's Jane kitted out as a fully-fledged Lady Thor, complete with a winged helmet and wielding Mjölnir (did I maybe cheer more for this than even Steve Rogers proving his worthiness? Yes). What's more, here, she would not only become a hero in her own right, but she'd get to team up with another MCU favorite, Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson).
Imagine my irritation when the interesting thing they've finally given Jane to do is have cancer and die (yes, I know this is a storyline from the comics; it's still annoying). It's pretty evident from the earliest shots of her in the film that she's not long for this world. But it's a real pain in the Asgard that, like Natasha, Gamora, and Wanda before her, she only gets to step into the spotlight just as it's about to be extinguished. There are flickers of hope that becoming a Thor will strengthen and heal her. But for dudes, with great power comes great responsibility. For ladies, with great power comes an expiration date.
When Thor finally forces Jane to stop cavorting as a Thor and seek genuine treatment for her illness, he acknowledges he'll have to try to complete his mission alone. That is until Jane swoops in at the last minute to save the day (and his very well-toned butt), knowing full well the effort will kill her a lot sooner than if she waited in her hospital bed. Just like the women before her, she makes a choice — and that choice is to die for the sake of the world and the man she loves.
There is nothing wrong with this choice at face value. It doesn't make Jane (or Wanda, or Natasha...) weak or lesser than any of the male heroes of the MCU. Indeed, it's a death so noble it earns Jane a place in Valhalla. But it would be more emotionally satisfying if I hadn't seen it so many times before. And if it didn't feel like that, while the men of the MCU get to be arrogant, wholesome, angry, remorseful, and any number of complex things, women's clearest path to heroism seems to be death.
Sure, I want more female superheroes. More kick-ass ladies who I can dress up as for Halloween and cheer on. But not if their only purpose in the plot is virtual martyrdom. The MCU has taken great pains to make its heroes nuanced figures who grapple with the human cost of their adventures; it makes the case that there are many ways to be a hero. Unless, of course, you're a woman. (Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Brie Larson, y'all might want to get a clause in your contracts, just saying).
Because women are expendable. We are living in a world where women are fighting for their lives and their rights daily, where misogyny is insidious, and women regularly fear violence from strangers and partners alike. It's easy to feel that the cost of our lives is cheap, that we mean more in death than we do in life. The MCU, intentionally or not, reiterates that narrative.
I don't want a fictional world of heroes where a woman's greatest superpower is death. It's a hill I'm willing to do anything but die on.

Negative articles
Scarlett Johansson x Wife!Lawyer!Reader
Summary: Your wife is coming home after the BW press tour and needs comfort from you after reading too many negative articles.
Word count: 1k
Warnings: none I could think of🤷🏻‍♀️ if I need to add any lmk
A/N: my first Scarlett fic. I hope you enjoy:) also my requests are open so if you’d like me to write something, don’t hesitate to ask:)
Tumblr media
Not my gif :)
Scarlett and you have been married for a few years and been together for even longer. Eventhough the public knew you were married, you were more known for being an amazing lawyer for criminal law.
You were handling a really big case right now so saying that you were a little busy was an understatement. You were glad Scarlett was on the press tour for Black Widow because otherwise you would’ve felt guilty for always working so much. Of course you made time for little Rose but once she was asleep you continued working in your office, you were drained.
You talked to her every day. So proud of her for the amazing movie she created. She was coming home at some point that day from the tour and from what you knew she was pretty exhausted but so happy. Knowing she’d be home you made sure to leave at a normal time, wanting to spend time with your wife after weeks of not seeing her. Especially since Rose was at a sleepover and wouldn’t come back before the next day around afternoon.
As Scarlett got home she just fell down on the couch with her phone and relaxed for the first time in what felt like months. She checked the reviews of Black Widow once again but that did not go as she expected. There was one bad article after another.
„The movie is bad, the time for it has passed“
„Scarlett Johansson was the worst choice to play Black Widow“
„Why Black Widow is the most hated character in the MCU“
Normally Scarlett wouldn’t take those kind of articles to close to heart but this time her guard was low. She was exhausted which caused her to spiral.
As you came home actually on time and not too late you were super excited to see her and spend the evening together. Coming in you already saw her suitcases in the hallway. „Babe I’m home. You have no idea how much I looked forward to this night. Honestly my day couldn’t have gone much worse“, you said as you hung away your jacket and kicked off your shoes. As you didn’t hear anything you made your way into the living room and asked „How was traveling?“.
Coming into the room you see Scarlett quickly wiping her tears before she cleared her throat and asked „It’s been good Baby“. You could hear the emotion in her voice as she tried her hardest to keep herself from crying.
You dropped everything right there and quickly made your way to the couch as you asked „Hey Shh Scar what’s wrong?“. However Scarlett just waved you off and said „It’s nothing Baby. How was work? Still a lot?“. But you were having nothing of it. Sitting down next to her you took her into your arms and held her head to your chest.
You knew there was no use in pressuring her to talk, she’d open up when she’s ready so you just started to rub her back and mumbled in her hair „I know everyone wants something from your greatness and wants to see you but god I missed you so much. I’m glad you’re home“. You pressed a kiss to the top of her head as a sob left her mouth and she broke down crying.
You held her close, rubbing her back and placing kisses on her forehead as you just let her cry. „Shh it’s okay Baby, get it out“, you whispered and gently pushed her hair out of her face. She slowly started to calm down and sniffled slightly as you handed her a tissue. Once she blew her nose she took your hand on hers and started to play with your fingers. You just let her knowing it brought her comfort.
„As I got home I went through the reviews for Black Widow again and there are just so many negative ones. So many people think it’s a bad movie and that it’s just too late for it and that I am the worst cast for Natasha. So many people wrote that they hate her also because I am the one playing her“, she opened up tearfully.
You quickly took her face in your hands and made her look at you. „I need you to listen to me now, Scarlett. There will always be people who don’t like what you do. Who think it’s the wrong time or who are just shitty people and want to make you feel bad. But those people are such a small part, here look“, you said and pulled out your own phone. Showing her all the positive reviews also from a few of your friends and even your colleagues. „Always remember that you’re the one many people look up to. You are the face of their hero. You are their hero. You’re Rose’s hero and she’s so proud of you!“, you said looking deep in her eyes.
You could see the negativity slowly leaving her as she took in everything you just said. Slowly believing the things you said. You dried the last of her tears and kissed her forehead as her eyes closed. „Thank you, Baby“, she mumbled and you pulled her close one last time as you said „Always. I love you“. „I love you more“, she said smiling looking up at you. You just grinned and kissed her softly.
Taking her face in her hands you placed a sweet kiss on the tip of her nose as she scrunched it slightly. You loved her little nose scrunch. „You lay down now and watch some tv or something while I make some dinner. And no I don’t need any help“, you said and smiled. She just nodded softly giving you a small smile back.
Your tone left no room to argue and she knew better than to try and fight you in this.
After a nice relaxing dinner, you made sure to cook her favorite, you prepared a bath for the both of you to snuggle up and relax in. Giving both of your tense muscles a possibility to loosen up. In that moment you learned to appreciate Scarlett even more again. You missed her so much, you finally felt whole again.

FLORENCE PUGH at the Valentino Haute Couture show at Paris Couture Fashion Week on July 8th 2022 wearing VALENTINO
I was so surprised to see Florence at the Valentino Couture show! I didn’t know that she had a relationship with the brand and didn’t expect her! She’s been laying low, but after multiple appearances these last few weeks I hope to see more of her.
I guess I should’ve realized that Florence was coming. She posted on Instagram her Valentino look from last years “Black Widow” press tour. I’m just processing that Florence might’ve been the first celebrity to wear Valentino pink. One year later and it’s still a huge trend.
I’ve been loving the color of her hair. The blonde highlights look amazing with the light brown. I also love the slicked back style she’s been sporting. It looks great! I think the subdued hair color really pairs well with her bright dress.
This dress is stunning. I loved the sheerness with the Valentino pink color. This color was made for Florence. It’s really a universally flattering color, but really looks phenomenal on her. I thought the sheer top was a great touch and I love how she’s standing up to the body shaming she’s endured for this look, which is completely unjustified. She is so eloquent in her words and many are agreeing with what she said. I also love the little loose tulle around the shoulders, it was such a fun and beautiful addition. I really enjoyed this look.

They Hunger: Lost Souls & An oral history of Black Widow Games
The would have been sequel to the critically acclaimed They Hunger Trilogy, and it would have been the first commercially released game by Black Widow Games, a studio that had previously been developing paid mods to tie in with TV-Shows, the movie Underworld, and PC Gamer promotions.
Due to a lot of different circumstances, and according to rumor, internal strife within the team, the project went dark and was cancelled years after radio silence.
Back in 2019 without any fanfare, 2 demos were leaked of builds that had previously been made available to press.
An incomplete build is rumored to exist, and it's believed that one of the developers still has it, but since they refuse to speak to anyone that contacts them about the game, it's impossible to verify that or verify anything related to the project.
It's a big shame. I hope you enjoy this guided tour through it, and I hope you enjoy my scatterbrained retelling of the studio's history, and my history with these kinds of games.... Enjoy.

Wanna hear about the weekend I was stalked by spiders?
So last year my sister needed to go to San Jose to take a lab final for her otherwise online college course. I found out the Winchester mystery mansion was not far from her hotel and since we both are big fans of spooky and occult things and our mom didn’t want her to go alone, we decided I would tag along and we’d turn the trip into a tiny work vacation. This began the weekend of the spider.
Spider number 1:
My sister has a long standing annuel appointment to get her nails done monthly, and she needed to replace her long acrylics with shorter simple nails for the sake of her lab, this appointment fell on the day we were to leave. So pressed for time on the long drive we packed the car and planned to leave the second she got back from her appointment, leaving me and my mom to kill time. She had been working from home and I was between jobs at the time so we’d started listening to ‘the Magnus archives’ together and were still on season one. My mom suggested we listen to an episode before I left since she wouldn’t listen without me. The episode we got through before my and sis hit the road? ARACHNOPHOBIA.
Spider Number 2:
Sis gets home, we hop in the car, and off we go to San Jose. I settle into our room scrolling through TikTok while we wait for our tour time to start. While waiting my mom sends me a video with the caption ‘this just popped on my page, they’re listening!’ I don’t know what to make of it until I watch the video of a spider with a sparkly looking back that I soon realize is a mom carrying her babies. I freak out and nearly throw my phone across the room.
Spider Number 3:
We arrive at the winchester mansion (which was dope and I highly recommend it) where we learned many intricate facts about the mansions designs and the people who loved there. One think I found very fascinating and a bit unsettling was ms winchesters interest in custom stain glass windows with spiderweb designs. Beautiful but at that point I was beginning to notice the pattern.
Spider Number 4:
We and sister return to the room after a long day and are getting ready for bed. As I go to turn out the light I see something very big and black moving toward the bed. A spider the size of a ping pong ball is in our room and I almost scream. I’m yelling at my sister to kill it because I’m a superstitious bitch and at this point I’m afraid I’ll bring a curse on myself if I try to kill it. I toss my sister my tea and sage perfume and she sprays it till it crawls off to die behind the furniture. I slept on the other side of the bed.
You’d think that would be the end of it but no.
Spider Number 5:
A day and a quarter goes by alright. I’m still shaken but believe I’m overthinking things. We have to checkout of the hotel and head to my sisters lab with plans to head home right after. As she heads inside I find a bench to sit on and read while I wait for her. Overhead is a row of pine trees keeping the sun off me; and what else do I see in those pine needles above? A clump of white web twigs and needles. A nest the size of a football. I noped my way across the street and feared bees instead for a few hours.
Spider Number 6:
Finally, finally, we were home. I texted my best friend telling him where I’d been and we made plans to meet up for breakfast and chat about the trip. The next morning I meet up with him at a pancake house and we talked, I told him about the awesomeness of the winchester mansion, The stress of helping my sister study for her physical therapy exams, and of course about the curse of the spiders. I had just finished with the tale when our waitress approached with our bill, and as I took it I noticed something. Low and behold the weekend was not over, for upon my waitress arm was a large tattoo of a black widow spider.
At this point I through my hands to the universe and explained that I had got the point. Though the specific point still escapes me I think. I do know i Will forever tell people about the weekend I was stalked by spiders.

The Trailer for INDIANA JONES 5 – THE DIAL OF DESTINY Has Arrived
youtube
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting this to drop today!
Lucasfilm YouTube:
See Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, only in theaters, June 30 2023.
Harrison Ford returns as the legendary hero archaeologist in the highly anticipated fifth installment of the iconic “Indiana Jones” franchise, which is directed by James Mangold (“Ford v Ferrari,” “Logan”). Starring along with Ford are Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”), Antonio Banderas (“Pain and Glory”), John Rhys-Davies (“Raiders of the Lost Ark”), Shaunette Renee Wilson (“Black Panther”), Thomas Kretschmann (“Das Boot”), Toby Jones (“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”), Boyd Holbrook (“Logan”), Oliver Richters (“Black Widow”), Ethann Isidore (“Mortel”) and Mads Mikkelsen (“Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore”). Directed by James Mangold, the film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel, with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas serving as executive producers. John Williams, who has scored each Indy adventure since the original “Raiders of the Lost Ark” in 1981, is once again composing the score.
Sure, we don’t have Spielberg, but I’ll be honest, Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s involvement was the most interesting element when the movie was announced, and after watching the trailer, I’m starting to feel like…they nailed it?!
Can I just say: Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is an excellent, pulp-sounding title for the flick.
And hey! Here’s a poster!
Tumblr media
Will this work out? Will it be better than Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? Can Harrison Ford actually seem enthusiastic on the press tour? We’ll find out that and more when the flick hits theaters in June 2023.
