Headcanons/Thoughts for Every Main Five Just Dance ship
Obviously I have my favorite but sometimes it’s fun to just think about other ships so I wanted to make a post about ALL of them. For some reason. PS don’t reblog/reply to this with “well actually that one ship sucks and I don’t like it”. As far as we know all of them are the same age and not related so there’s really no reason why any ship is wrong, let people like what they like.
Wanderlust x Jack: I don’t need to rant about them, you all already know. Go read my fanfiction
Wanderlust x Sara: He brings her into this magical world, she loves it and she loves him. It’s a bit cliche but cliches are cliches because they WORK. Also, we know Sara loves the Danceverses, but what if Wanderlust loves Earth? What if he’s got a Little Mermaid thing going on? Imagine Sara showing him around Earth and him being excited by the silliest little things
Wanderlust x Brezziana: They’re both the most energetic ones of the group. Imagine them teaming up on adventures and charging ahead together when the others get tired. Neither of them can always find a friend to keep up with them, but they always have each other
Wanderlust x Mihaly: They’re kind of like two different sides of the Flow? Wander is more energetic and Mihaly’s more chill, so I think they’d balance each other out well. Mihaly gets Wander to slow down every once in a while and appreciate things he’d otherwise miss. Wanderlust shows them how to be more spontaneous and free
Jack x Sara: Sara falls for the bad boy except he’s not actually bad. So much in the Danceverses is bright and crazy and overwhelming, so Jack being more down-to-earth is refreshing for her. Jack loves the way she treats him. Aside from the events of story mode, she doesn’t have the background on Night Swan and Eternyx that the others do, so she doesn’t know his reputation as well. He feels like she really sees him as his own person while everyone else will always remember his mother’s shadow
Jack x Mihaly: I think both of them being the more practical ones of the group could mesh well. We also know Mihaly used to idolize Night Swan in some way, so they both can relate to having wanted to live up to her legacy and now realizing she was wrong. Jack is also always expecting some sort of punishment or consequence if he does something wrong, but Mihaly is so chill about everything that they make him feel like everything’s okay
Jack x Brezziana: Brezziana will drag Jack out of the house to go do stuff when he’s stuck moping around. Theyre SO opposites attract. She’s also ready to stand up for him whenever necessary. Jack will just turn the other cheek to insults and pretend nothing bothers him, but Brezziana won’t let him bottle things up
Sara x Mihaly: Another case of chill vs energetic balancing each other out. I think Mihaly brings Sara to meet Master Panda and he really likes her. What if they try training together to see if Sara is gifted with the Flow like people from the Danceverses are? Again, I feel like Mihaly is also a grounding presence for her amongst the chaos of the Danceverses.
Sara x Brezziana: They go on mall dates a lot! Cute dates where they pick out outfits for each other and try them on. They’re very giggly. They post very cutesy Instagram posts about each other all the time. Connected at the hip when the gang goes out places.
Mihaly x Brezziana: This one’s popular. Again it’s energetic vs chill. Mihaly will often open their home to fourteen texts from Brezziana about something crazy she just did and Mihaly just shakes their head and smiles.

Several weeks ago, my retirement-age mother requested that I play Baldur’s Gate 3 for her because she has trouble with controllers/keyboards and wanted “to see what all the fuss is about with that cute wizard boy.” For context, my mother and I have done this sort of thing in the past with certain RPGs (dragon age, mass effect, etc.), but it’s been a few years since she’s personally requested a game like this. Basically, I control her Tav but let her make all the choices so she can determine how the story plays out without worrying about mechanics. She treats it like a choose-your-own-adventure book.
Anyway, here is a list of some of the things my mother has said and/or chosen to do throughout the course of BG3 in no particular order:
She is (obviously) romancing Gale. She is quite smitten with him and his passion for books and learning; she also thinks he’s polite and qualifies as “relationship material.” She also REALLY likes the things he’s said about his cat so far (my mom is a cat lady), so I know she’s gonna flip shit when we meet Tara in Act III.
She’s playing a normal druid Tav with a generally good alignment. Her favorite spell is Spike Growth because she thinks it’s hilarious whenever enemies walk into the AOE and die. I usually end up having to cast it at least once per battle per her request. Sometimes twice.
Contrary to her alignment, my mother tasks me with robbing every single chest, crate, barrel, and burlap sack we come across; this also includes people and their pockets. The party is always at max carrying capacity. ALWAYS. She doesn’t like selling things because “what if I need them.” The camp stash is in literal shambles. There is no hope of organizing it. She’s got like fifty seven sets of rags and a billion pieces of random silverware.
She MUST talk to every animal and corpse in the game. I think five hours of her total playtime so far (47ish) has been spent speaking to animals as many times as humanly possible. Like, I was thorough in my own playthroughs, but this is on a whole other level.
She did NOT get Volo’s lobotomy, but she did let Auntie Ethel take her eye in hopes of a cure for the tadpole. I did not understand the logic then. I still do not understand it now.
She is far more interested in fashion than equipment stats. Do you have any idea how much gold I’ve had to spend on dyes just to make things match? SO much. Same vibe as that “please someone help me balance my finances my family is starving” tweet but instead of candles it’s thirty thousand fucking bottles of black and furnace red dye.
We broke the prisoners out of Moonrise, but they got on the boat too early and bugged the fight by leaving Astarion and Karlach behind. Wulbren Bongle somehow got stuck in combat mode even after engaging the cutscene on the docks below Last Light; he he kept trying to run ALL THE WAY BACK TO MOONRISE nine fucking meters at a time while I frantically tried to finish the fight with the Warden, otherwise Wulbren would have run straight into the shadow curse. (I would’ve let him go; fuck Wulbren Bongle, all my homies hate Wulbren Bongle. But my mom didn’t know that, and she wanted to keep him safe. So.)
She had me reload a save like eighteen times to save the giant eagles on top of Rosymorn Monastery. Wouldn’t even let me do non-lethal damage just to get past things. I think getting that warhammer for the dawnmaster puzzle took us like an hour and a half alone. (Yes, I know you can use any warhammer, but SHE didn’t.)
She’s started keeping an irl notebook to keep track of her quests between play sessions. She writes down ideas and strategies when she thinks of them during the week, then brings them to her next game session at my house. I think she wrote about three pages on possible approaches to the goblin fortress alone.
She insists that I pet Scratch and the owlbear cub before every single long rest, no exceptions. Sometimes I have to do it multiple times until she is absolutely sure that the animals know exactly how much she loves and cherishes them. She has also commissioned a crocheted owlbear plush from a friend of hers and is very excited.
I’m sure there’s a bunch of stuff I’m forgetting, but those are some fun things I thought of. She’s enjoying the game and is telling all of her retired friends to get it and play it for themselves. She asked me “what is Discord” yesterday and I think my life flashed before my eyes.
anyway shout out to my mom for being neat

Near Uniquely RWBY - Main Characters
I was chatting with my sibling the other day and we were joking about the fact in 90% of the media I consume I generally don't like the main characters.
Not in the sense I necessarily hate them, but I generally don't find them to be the most interesting, engaging or enjoyable person on screen or page. Instead I tend to gravitate towards secondary or minor characters and even minor antagonists before any of the big names.
Some of this is rooted in my often rooting for what tends to feel more like a real underdog or characters that feel like they got dealt a bad hand by the author unfairly. But its also that in a lot of media the main characters tend to immediately, slowly or quickly go into personality lockdown.
Becoming less a personality and more the embodiment of expected tropes and themes, or they lose their unique edge or circumstances because the plot demands one benefits or personality changes be heaped on them to keep the tone and story going.
Some examples of this would include say:
Ichigo from Bleach, with him and his supporting cast being very unique and super interesting during the initial arc. But as Soul Society came in, he became a much more standard Shounen determinator a the expense of his personality and his supporting casts were largely watered down & left behind.
Or how in Naruto or Dragon Ball the whole underdog/hard worker aspect of the characters felt undercut by legacy power ups and an endless wellspring of natural talent, alien biology, ETC.
I know these are just two examples, but they cover the general gist of what I mean.
So, what makes RWBY different?
Well, off the cuff, is simply that the four main characters are women.
Tumblr media
I've often felt simply putting anyone other than a cis-het guy into the main character slot of say, a battle Shounen, or Isekai stands a good chance of making it more interesting by default. Even if the author does nothing with it the audience reaction would be different because the MC would be an exception to the norms.
In that vein, while one can call RWBY some sort of Shounen or adventure fantasy or magical girl show the main four are unique in how they manifest on screen at the very start. From how they participate in action, to how said action is structured and framed and the kind of adventures and topics they tackle.
But being unique alone is not enough, that would simply make it more interesting than the bog standard but what elevates RWBY is the execution and exploration of such elements and its characters.
Going into every aspect would be difficult, but in light of what I said above would be how each of the main four are initially presented as familiar archetypes, only to subvert or deconstruct them.
Tumblr media
Ruby is a peppy goth who just wants to be normal but has inborn powers from her mysteriously vanished mother and serves as a beacon of optimism to others.
Except Ruby's version of normal still involved fighting death monsters with a sniper rifle scythe and she is actually one of the more ruthless characters. Her peppy persona obscures that she can have a pretty vicious temper when pushed and has displayed strong bloodknight tendencies.
Her unrelenting optimism and desire to fix the world is a complex mix of true beliefs, coping mechanism for trauma and her grappling with positions forced on her against her will. Her inborn power is potentially useful but also not that much of a game breaker outside specific contexts & said power sure as hell didn't save her mom.
Tumblr media
Weiss Schnee is the Tsundere heiress of a powerful family, with a haughty attitude that hides her loneliness.
Except the "Tsundere" is more of a defense mechanism born of coming from an abusive home where every member of her family manifested a different trauma response. Freeze (Mother), flight (Sister), Fight (Weiss) Fawn (Brother).
Despite her upbringing & some projected trauma, she's far from ignorant as to the worst excesses of her nation early on, and her journey was more about overcoming the impacts her abuser had on her and finding a family in her team that let her be safe enough to let down her walls. Also despite being "The ice queen" she's actually one of the characters least inclined towards more ruthless actions and is extremely empathic.
Tumblr media
Blake Belladonna is a mysterious and silent rougish woman, something of a shrinking violet even, but she carries with her a wounded heart thanks to her old flame, the edgy Adam Taurus.
Or more accurately, Blake is the daughter of activists and politicians who represent the worlds main discriminated against minority. She spent her youth on the road as a protestor and where even her father could be nearly killed by a lynch mob. She was targeted & groomed by a man who claimed to want to fight the same injustice she did but who was only interested in using the movement to grow his own power.
Her initial aloof-ness was a trauma response to having spent years under his thumb and overcoming him and the idea she had to 'save' him was one of the main corner stone so her character. Also, despite the "Revolutionary fighter" backstory she like Weiss is much less inclined towards ruthlessness than her team in large part because her past experience with it.
Tumblr media
Yang Xiao Long, introduced as the fun loving big sister of Ruby & boisterous bruiser of the team who loves to party & flirt.
Except no, Yang was parentified as a child and forced to raise her own sister as their family unit fell apart. Her "Party girl" persona was outright framed as judging a book by its cover in her own trailer and something she put on or took off as she needed.
She became disabled over the course of the series run as well as entered a Sapphic romance with her partner Blake. Unlike the stereotype of characters with her design, Yang is actually an excellent student, fighter and engineer/mechanic. Plus much like her sister she tends to be of the more ruthless and pragmatic persuasion despite being from the "Normal" background.
Character Conclusion
So, all the characters break out of their initial archetypes, which already makes them more interesting. What's more, these sorts of characters just being oput together and made the main characters rather than circling a dude is in of itself unique.
But there are other aspects of the writing which endear me to how it handles the main characters and what keeps them interesting.
Tumblr media
Anger & Violence
See, while in various media women do express anger at times it is still often far less so than men. What's more, often women's anger tends to be presented in... Less flattering lights.
With the anger obscuring fragility while in a man it conveys strength. Or implying a sort of hysteria rather than an appropriate or controlled response. Or worst of all being demonized in general unless its rooted in or coming from traditionally feminine places.
The same tends to be true when it comes to violence with a lot of media either trying to find some way to make women in battle less... Brutal than their male counterparts. (More more like fanservice) Along with rarely letting women fight men, unless they are a special exception to the norm.
RWBY does not do this.
The main characters, hell, all the women in the series express a multitude of different forms of anger and violence. They battle men, they battle each other, they battle monsters all with no distinction nor fanservice shot in sight.
What's more though is that said anger and violence are not presented as, for lack of better words, wrong. The writers don't draw overt attention to this fact, they don't hang a big sign up saying "Girls can fight & shout too" or the like.
They just present these women with a range of emotions, motives and actions that are treated according to what fits the theme of the show rather than hewing closer to gendered lines.
This isn't to say anger & violence are lionized, but more that the experience and usage of them is not demonized or undermined because of the characters gender.
I suppose what I am saying is that CRWBY by and large lack double standards when it comes to exploring these things that I see so often in other media. The women in the main cast, among the villains, both sides respective allies and beyond can be flawed, or angry or do both good and terrible things.
But the writers are always treating everyone's pain as equally valid regardless of gender or situation. Which means that the situations that cause anger exist within a tone of respect that forms the depiction and framing of anger itself.
Which is just something I really enjoy.
Thanks for reading!

Tumblr media
Working at the tea shop was Orora's first time at a job. She was just as green to it as Zuko was. However, she did not voice her disgust at the notion every few seconds. She was eager to learn, and ready to earn her living. As much as she appreciated the money Iroh had given her, she wanted to contribute to their financial situation as well.
The first day had been busy. There had been the different types of teas she had to learn to brew, other then the ones she already knew thanks to her Master. Then there were dishes to wash almost constantly. Not a lot of customers had come in that day, Pao having closed the shop early to allow his new employees to get to know their work place, so it hadn't been as tiring as she had thought it would be.
What Orora found she liked to do, was wash the dishes. She got to play with water and bubbles, and it helped calm her. Strange, she knew, but after so many days of being on the run, doing something as simple as washing dishes was oddly calming. Not to mention the job allowed her mind to roam and ponder over things she had not allowed herself to for quite some time now.
As she set aside one of the more expensive looking cups, the young waterbender sighed softly through her nose.
So far the truce she had offered Zuko seemed to be working. Though it had only been a few hours since it had been put into effect. And they'd only managed to snap at each other twice. True after the second time Iroh had seen the wisdom in separating them by giving them jobs to do at different ends of the shop. Zuko worked the front, taking orders and such, while Orora washed the dishes in the back.
Picking up a plate and dunking it in the soapy water, Orora continued to let her thoughts wander and ask the questions she wished she could say out loud.
Such as why were Zuko and Iroh fugitives of the Fire Nation? They were royalty, surely the Fire Lord would want his brother and son back. And did Zuko's sister truly want to kill her own Uncle? That thought sent a shiver down her spine. But what about their mother? Didn't she have a say in all of this? Was she treated just like Orora's mother was treated?
She had so many questions, and more, and all she wanted to do was march right up to Zuko and demand that he answer them.
But something held her back.
Maybe because she was a polite person who didn't go about poking her nose in other people's business.
Or perhaps, more likely, she had no desire to cause Zuko any pain by talking about his past. It was surely a sore subject, from the bits and pieces of information she had collected over the months. Besides, he already had his hands full trying to adjust to living in Ba Sing Se. Orora just wished he would figure himself out faster so she could ask all her questions.
Oh, she could ask Iroh if she wanted to, and her would probably answer, but for some insane reason, she wanted the answers to come from Zuko himself.
Spirit help her but she felt it was the right thing since it was his story.
Memories of every encounter she had ever had with the young prince rose unbidden, yet not unwelcome in her mind, as she started to play with the water not having any more dishes to wash.
It was strange, how someone she had not even known a few months ago was now at the very center of her life. He wasn't all that she thought about, really this was the first time she was allowing herself to think of him to such an extent. Usually she had other things to think about. Such as surviving, learning from her Master, perfecting her water bending techniques, inventing new ways to incorporate ice into her fighting, improving on her combat skills, restocking her medicinal herbs, making sure she didn't loose touch with her healing side, because as much as she liked to put her waterbending skills to use by fighting, she knew healing was a major part of who she was.
All those thoughts were pushed to the back of her mind, as she focused on a pair of golden eyes that seemed to watch her wherever she went, watching her every step. At first she had thought, it was perhaps because he didn't trust her. But slowly, that mistrust in his eyes had faded. Now, when she would catch him looking at her, he would look away.
Then again, who was she to complain. She looked at him and had been caught looking at him by him on multiple occasion.
Her fingers continued to twirl, her gaze listless as she created pretty patterns in the water.
She thought of the night when they had first met, officially at least. When he had tried to rob her. She could still recall every detail with a clarity that surprised even her.
She contemplated on their little sparring session and the conversation after it, how she had encouraged him to find something to live for, to fight for.
She recalled how shocked she had been when she realized his true identity. A prince. An honest to goodness prince. One who couldn't stand her, and who she couldn't stand either.
At least, she thought that was the case.
Her mind conjured the moment where she had first touched his scar. How vulnerable he had looked, and yet he had trusted her enough to not push her away. The way he had protected her when they were at the Oasis. The conversation they had shared while bathing. That one brought a fierce blush to her cheeks. And despite her best effort to move on to the next one, she found the blush only intensifying as she remembered the moment they had shared on the mountain.
Where they had acknowledged that they were soulmates. Where he had gripped her wrist, so desperately and yet so soft. Where she had wandered how his lips would feel against her own. And she was sure he had been thinking the same.
After all, hadn't he leaned forward slightly before the elements of nature had tread on their moment?
So lost in her thoughts, that she didn't even sense as someone else entered her work area and stood next to her. Watching her.
"Uncle says its time to go now."
The voice jolted her out of her thoughts, scaring her so much that she jumped where she stood. Her bending reacted out of instinct, mirroring her startled emotion as her hand shot a splash of water on the figure standing next to her.
"Spirits! You startled me!" She panted, resting a hand above her heart. Zuko glowered at her in return, water dripping from his hair and onto his shoulders. The girl winced, pursing her lips to hide a smile, though it still escaped. She couldn't help it, he just looked utterly ridiculous.
At his warning growl, she couldn't help but giggle. A strange sound since it hardly ever came from her. "Sorry, here." Quickly bending the water, she threw it back into the sink and gave him an apologetic smile. His glare did not let up.
"We're done here for the day. Lets go." He grumbled, before making for the door. She rolled her eyes. Clearly he wasn't too pleased with her little reaction. As he stomped off, she called after him, removing her apron as she went. "I said I was sorry!"
                                          ————————–
Their new home was a small apartment, just big enough for the three of them. As soon as they returned, Orora quickly settled in the middle of the room, wanting to get in an hour of meditation before bed. She crossed her legs, closed her eyes, folded her hands in her lap and evened out her breathing.
Which left Iroh to brew some more tea for them, and for Zuko to lay on the sofa, hands tucked behind his head as he stared up at the ceiling, his mind going over the day's event.
A job. For once in his life, he was actually working for a living. The notion had seemed strange at first, not to mention he had felt that it was beneath him, but what Orora had said was true. They did need jobs if they were to survive in this city.
Reluctantly, his gaze flickered to the water tribe girl as she sat meditating peacefully, oblivious to the effect she had had on him.
Him. Prince of the Fire Nation. Being effected by the words of a commoner.
Or rather, he was being effected by the words of a girl who was his soulmate.
Letting out a silent groan, his hand came up to press the back of his hand against his eyes, as if to physically stop him from staring too long at her. It was starting to get pathetic, just how much he would want her opinion on things.
He wouldn't go so far as to say he wanted her to approve of him, but it was pleasant to have someone else beside his Uncle give him a little wisdom. He spoke of life in riddles and words that were heavy with emotion.
Orora?
She would give it straight to his face. No regard of his feelings, his stand on whatever topic it was. She would just come out and say it.
And he appreciated her for that.
True he never always liked what she said, but sometimes they were the exact words he needed to hear.
Like the talk they had had after their impromptu battle near that lake. He still hadn't found something to live for, or to fight for, but at least he knew that he was looking for something.
Not to mention the fact that he would be ever grateful to her for saving Uncle's life. He would never say it outright, but in that moment he had been so so scared and she had stepped up and healed Iroh. Even after getting to know who they were and the lies she had been led to believe for so long.
And how she had probably saved him that stormy night on the mountain. A moment of weakness on his part, letting his emotions get the best of him, but she'd been there. She'd been where he needed her to be, and had not held back when telling him off for being so reckless.
He had to stop his thoughts there, not wanting to dwell too much on what would've happened if that moment in the rain had gone on any longer.
And then there was the truce. To live together somewhat harmoniously.
Lifting his hand, he looked at her again, watching her face. She looked so calm in that moment, as opposed to the plethora of emotions that always played about her features. Zuko found he was beginning to think of it as a game. A game where he would try to guess what she would feel next, and whether it would effect him in some way.
So far, almost every emotion she felt was directed at him, and though he would never ever admit it out loud, he kind of liked having her attention be on him rather then anything else.
Huffing to himself, as if disgusted with his own thoughts, he rose to his feet, moving to the pantry to see what he could have for dinner.
                                          ————————–
"Orora, my dear." Glancing up from where she had been counting the money of the customer who had just paid, the young waterbender gave Iroh a nod. "Yes Master?"
"We seem to have run out of Jasmine. I have asked Pao and he says to take some money from the till and buy some Jasmine tea from the shop just down the street."
Taking the money, Orora quickly nodded, before rushing to the back of the shop where Zuko was on dish washing duty. Seeing her taking off her apron, he frowned. "Where're you going?"
Straightening her clothes, the girl replied. "Ran out of Jasmine, just going to buy some." She had barely made it to the door when Zuko called out. "Wait, I'm supposed to go with you when you go out into the city."
Orora glanced over her shoulder, rolling her eyes slightly. "Relax Your Highness. Its only a five minute walk, nothing is going to happen to me." She opened the door, moving to step outside, but then she paused.
"Although, it is sweet of you to worry about me." She glanced over at him, a smile on her lips as she caught sight of the obvious flush on his cheeks as he looked at anything but her. "I'll be back soon." She said as a way of promise, before she was out of the tea shop.
It was a five minute walk, and once the goods were secured, the girl began to make her way back to the shop, her heart still warm at the prospect of Zuko actually worrying about her.
Her happy thoughts, however, were interrupted rather rudely when a hard hand grabbed her shoulder, yanking her into a dark alley, covering her mouth with a rough hand.
The instant she felt the unfamiliar hands, she began to struggle and push with all her strength, trying to get away.
"Stop moving!" A voice hissed, a very familiar voice.
Her eyes focused in the dark, and she was able to make out the face of the boy they had met on the way to Ba Sing Se.
The Freedom Fighter, Jet.
Her pale blue eyes narrowed, and a look akin to a cold anger burned in the gaze she fixed him with. "Look I just want to talk, that's all." He said, still not letting up from where he had his hand on her mouth.
She continued to glare at him, even after he had removed his hand, though his other kept an almost painful grip on her wrist. "I'm trying to help you. You're a waterbender, there's no way you would be with those firebenders of your own free will, so they must be keeping you prisoner somehow."
He knows, a voice hissed in her mind, prompting her heart to beat faster in her chest, and an ugly feeling of fear to coil in her stomach. But she didn't let it show.
Instead, she remained the epitome of disgust and anger. "What in the world are you talking about?"
There seemed to be an almost manic look in his eyes, accompanied by impatience, as he dropped her hand, and grabbed her shoulders. "You don't have to lie for them. I'm trying to help you. I just need evidence and then we can end those two firebenders."
End?! Spirits! He wanted to kill Iroh and Zuko.
Shrugging out of his grasp, Orora stepped away, fingers pulling the cork of her water satchel in case she needed to defend herself. "You're out of your mind." She growled at him. Despite the terror she felt at hearing his statement, her instinct to protect her two companions was far potent, which was the reason she was even able to face the boy with murder in his eyes.
"Just admit the truth! They're firebenders! And they deserve to die." He was starting to get frustrated with her. "I don't care what you say, I will find some way to expose them, and when I do, I'll have the pleasure of executing them."
Hearing those words, hearing the tone in his voice, the sheer hatred and anger in his eyes. Something in her snapped.
With a fierce cry she threw her arm out, the movement elegant yet deadly, given that Jet found himself staring at the very sharp ends of multiple icicles that she pointed in his direction.
"This is your first and last warning." She hissed, her voice full of warning. "If you come near them, if you so much as harm a single hair on their head, I will personally see to it that you pay for it." She fixed him with a cold stare. "In blood."
So saying, she turned her back to him, leaving him trapped behind her icicles. They would melt soon enough, though the words Jet called after her as she walked away, echoed in her ears all the way back to the tea shop.
"You would threaten someone who's on your side. You're willing to protect the enemy?! You're a traitor to your own people. A disgrace! You're just like them! A killer!"
                                          ————————–
As soon as she reached the back door of the tea shop, Orora leaned up against the wooden door. Her heart was beating so fast, she was afraid it would somehow burst out of her chest. A stinging sensation behind her eyes told her she was close to tears. Lifting a trembling hand, she pressed it to face, willing herself to calm down.
She had to warn Zuko and Iroh, make sure they were on guard. She couldn't let anything happen to them. They were her friends. She cared about them. Both of them.
Somehow, she managed to calm herself down, slightly, and entered the shop. It had taken her a good fifteen minute to calm down. Grabbing her apron, she tied it behind her in a haphazard manner before rushing out to the front of the shop.
There was Iroh, pouring tea for a customer, with Zuko picking up cups left behind by a previous customer. She all but stumbled forward, catching Zuko's hand, prompting him to look at her, confused and slightly alarmed at her obvious panicked state.
"Orora? Wha-"
But she didn't let him finish. "He knows." She whispered, aware of the other customers around her. "Jet knows." The words were spoken so softly that no one else could ever hear them, and yet Zuko did. Loud and clear.
However, before either of them could talk further on what she had revealed, the door of the shop slammed open and Jet himself walked in. A strangled gasp left her lips, as she caught sight of that murderous look in his eyes once more.
"I'm tired of waiting!" He pointed an accusing finger at both Iroh and Zuko. "These two men are firebenders! And that girl is helping them. She's a traitor!"
Immediately, Zuko pushed Orora behind him, gripping one of her hands to make sure she stayed there. Uncle and nephew exchanged a look which seemed to mirror what the other was thinking.
Play dumb.
"I know they're firebenders, I saw the old man heating his tea!" Jet continued, advancing towards the trio with his hooked swords out of their sheaths. "He works in a tea shop." A nearby customer stated in a rather confused voice, but Jet wasn't having it. "He's a firebender! I'm telling you!"
The same customer stood. "Drop your swords, boy. Nice and easy." Jet ignored him, his gaze never leaving Zuko's as he began to advance towards him and Orora. "You'll have to defend yourself. Then everyone will know. Go ahead, show them what you can do." His gaze flickered to Orora who, previous fear forgotten to be replaced by a burning anger, glared back at him. "Or would you rather have your girlfriend get hurt defending you."
She felt his grip on her hand tighten to an almost painful level. "Zuko, no! He's goading you!" She whispered, even as the previous customer moved to step forward, ready to unsheathe his sword. Zuko simply glanced at her. Her heart dropped to her stomach. She knew exactly what he was about to do.
And sure enough he stepped forward and grabbed the swords the customer had been about to withdraw. "You want a show?" He growled. "I'll give you a show!'
He pulled a table in front of him with his foot and kicked it at Jet, who was quick to slice the table with his swords and jumped over it. As he landed, he swung both hook swords at the Fire Nation prince, who deflected the attack and jumped backward onto another table. Which was again sliced in half by Jet, with a mighty swing of one sword through the middle of the table.
Somehow Zuko managed to balance on one half of the table, on one foot! Jet was unrelenting as he continued his frenzied attack by cutting the legs off the table. Zuko was quick on his feet as he jumped up. As he landed, he swung both broadswords at Jet's feet, but he somersaulted away and landed in a crouching position before charging forward. Zuko swung both of his swords at Jet.
Both weapons clashed as both fighters tried to best the other, glaring at each other as they did.
"Enough!"
Orora's scream cut through the air as she used her waterbending to push the two fighters apart. She moved to stand in front of Zuko, multiple ice knives nestled between her fingers as she stared down Jet. "We are not your enemies! Stop acting like a complete lunatic!" Zuko growled behind her. "Orora, stay out of this!" Jet's grip on his swords only tightened. "I will not listen to anyone who betrays their own people to help firebenders."
He took a running start, prompting Orora to drop in her stance to defend herself, however her plan of action went out the window when Zuko pushed her to the side. So forcefully that she fell to the ground with a loud thud.
Jet threw his leg out, catching Zuko in the chest and watching as he went flying through the air, smashing through the doors of the tea shop and out into the street. As the rest of the patrons rushed out to see what would happen next, Iroh quickly helped Orora to stand up.
"Are you alright my dear?" He asked, checking her over for injuries. She gave a quick nod, before stumbling to the door of the shop, Iroh following behind.
Outside the battle continued to rage between the two teenagers.
"Please, son, you're confused! You don't know what you're doing!" Even he was getting worried that Zuko would snap and use his firebending. Orora began to pray silently to the Moon Spirit, hoping her pleas would be heard and that Zuko wouldn't get hurt or reveal his true identity. The people would surely kill Zuko and Iroh, if they knew who they really were.
"Bet you wish he'd help you out with a little fire blast right now." As Jet swung at Zuko's feet, Zuko stabbed one of his broadswords through the hilt of his sword, pinning it to the ground. Jet looked annoyed at loosing his weapon, before focusing back on Zuko. "You're the one who needs help." Zuko responded. Leaving the sword embedded in the floor, they shifted to combating with a single sword each. Jet turned in a circle, trying to swipe at Zuko once again, but Zuko quickly advanced and swung his sword at Jet.
The Freedom Fighter quickly bent backward to avoid the blade, though it did manage to cut the straw sticking out of his mouth in half. Regaining his balance, Jet jumped backward onto the edge of a well. "You see that‌?!" He called out to the gathered crowd. "The Fire Nation is trying to silence me. It'll never happen." He attacked once more, hooking his sword to the top of the well and sending a flying kick towards Zuko.
Zuko growled as he dodged the kick and swung his sword at Jet once again. He moved to the side, and suddenly they were back-to-back, trying to land a hit, but neither could get past the other's defense.
Just then two newcomers entered the crowd. And from their uniforms, they looked to be of an official status. "Drop your weapons." One of them commanded. The two fighters stepped away and faced each other. Though Zuko lowered his sword, Jet pointed his weapon at Zuko, Iroh and Orora.
"Arrest them! They're firebenders!" Iroh stepped forward, throwing his arms out. "This poor boy is confused. We're just simple refugees." Pao, wanting to defend his employees joined in as he pointed to Jet. "This young man wrecked my tea shop, and assaulted my employees!" The customer from whom Zuko had borrowed the swords stepped forward. "It's true, sir. We saw the whole thing. This crazy kid attacked the finest tea maker in the city." Iroh blushed at the compliment. "Oh, ho, ho. That's very sweet."
Knowing it would be like adding wood to the fire, Orora stepped forward. "And he attacked me and threatened to hurt my Master and his nephew." She walked towards the two men, hand exposed to the wrist where he had grabbed her earlier. Sure enough the bruise from his grip was already beginning to change the color of her skin. The sight of it had Zuko nearly swinging his sword once again, but Iroh placed a hand on his shoulder to stop him.
It would seem the two had heard enough. As Jet continued his tirade of firebenders and Fire Nation, he was escorted to a cart where he was put in the metal cell and taken away.
Orora watched him go, unaware of the crowd as it dispersed around them.
"Orora?" At Iroh's voice, she turned around, still a little spooked with what had just happened. Or rather what could've happened. "Why don't you and Li go home. I'll help Pao clean up and meet you there."
As if she had no control over her actions, Orora took off her apron and handed it to Iroh, who gave her a sympathetic smile. "Do see that my nephew wasn't too hurt from the kick, my dear." The concern was evident in his gaze, as was the guilt in her own as she glanced at Zuko who was returning the sword to it's rightful owner.
Giving him a small nod, she waited for Zuko to walk past her, before following after him towards their shared home.

Yandere house velaryon/House of the dragon x Mermaid reader

Yandere house velaryon/House of the dragon x Mermaid/siren reader
Requested by anon: Id be interested in seeing a yan!hotd with a mermaid reader, maybe Corlys found her on one of his journeys and brought her back?
Notes: F/c: Favorite color(or a color of your choosing)
Tumblr media
Corlys would be out just for a small adventure to get some air away from everything, he had other important duties to do but his escape was the sea.
He mostly stuck to a routine but that day he decided he would go a different way.
He got closer to a place his men called “Stone shore” the big stones that reached over just the top of the waves, some big ones you can stand on.
His team warned him not to go another way but he didn’t listen.
Soon no one couldn’t see anything as fog and mist surrounded them, and it got more difficult to avoid the rocks. What was weird is after a short time the men said they heard voices and they followed them. Corlys didn’t hear anything and tried to talk them out of it.
This place seemed cursed and he knew something was going on and if he waited he wouldn’t have a chance of surviving. So he jumped over then edge but on his way down he hit his head and passed out.
When corlys awoke he was cold and on a hard surfaces, the pain in his head throbbing harder. He slowly got up and when he realized where he was and looked around panic. A cave that looked beautiful, it was light up by some type of blue lights and crystals all around. And water surrounding him. But he saw no other lights or a exit.
He didn’t get here himself. He doesn’t remember getting here and he was placed on the only ground in the cave? It wasn’t just luck.
He saw something by him and his eyes raised, it was some type of fish and a fork next to it. Someone left this there for him. But who? Who was here and saved him, what the hell was going on.
Just then he heard moving far away and he tried to look but the place was covered up with a rock. “Hello? Who’s there?”
It was you.
You looked curiously at the person in front of you without a tail, he had legs and seemed to be human. Your people either killed them or saved them.
But that wasn’t the only thing, you had legs like him too sometimes. They called you cursed, a disappointment to their race and blamed it on your mother. She had a relationship with a man she was supposed to eat but never did.
Sirens: They used their voices to lure their pray to them and persuade them to do anything they wanted. But you couldn’t, no matter how many times you sang or spoke they just never did anything. So the rest took pity on you and gave you some limbs they could spare and that’s what you ate.
You were a outsider. You took pity as well on the man you found and took him to your cave, you thought about eating him but there was something telling you not to.
When he looked passed where your head popped up from behind the rock, his brain got cloudy and his heart filled up. For some reason it was like you were a treasure he was going to protect..
Protect. Protect. Protect. Protect.
“Come out little one.” He called for you and offered you a hand and you did as he said. You moved over to him by your tail and stayed at the edge looking at him curiously.
“Are you the one who saved me.” He asked and you nodded and a smile appeared on his face. “What are you?” You looked down and he followed seeing your tail. A beautiful f/c tail.
“Just amazing, I’ve heard about your kind from tails and story books. I know you had to be real.”
He was so happy he found you. Lets just say you both talked- Well he talked at you listened and nodded to him.
Sooo…Recap. He asked if he could leave and you said yes, he asked if you wanted to come with him. He promised you whatever you liked and would be treated with respected and like royalty. Praised for what you are…You took his offer.
Now you are at the shore at Driftmark. You had found a boat and kept it outside your cave. And you protected him from the other sirens until you guys got away.
He held you close as you stepped onto the land with him. “My wife is going to love you.” And he was right.
Some other people came over to you and you stuck behind corlys at all times. They held sharp swords and shiny clothing that looked threatening. And they kept looking at you strangely. It was because of your pointed ears.
When you reached the thrown room you were looking around at every because it looked different then anything you’ve ever seen. A woman ran to him and you stepped back looking at the two of them nervously.
“I found someone…Rhaenys, meet y/n.” She did and you saw her do the same thing corlys did but come over and reach for you. You did slowly when Corlys gave you the okay.
They both took the role of your parents and called themselves your father and mother. Saying that since they took you in it was right.
They gave you anything you wanted, shells, dresses and fishes and the finest jewels.
They said you had a sister and brother and you were always scared of meeting them. Because what if they hated you?
They taught you more words and how to speck almost every day. You also were taught how to write and read and you enjoy every minute of it.
Surprising your mothers dragon loved you and you hung out with her, when everything was to much but you stayed with her for a while. You patted her scales while telling her your troubles. She looked like she understood and nudged your hand closer to her.
Then when a letter came in your mother cried and your father was with tears as they called you. They said your sister had died and you comforted them with hugs and let them let their feelings out.
You even told corlys to let it all out…and he did. He over flooded with what he felt, grief and sadness, and his crying was harder then rhaenys. He was hard to calm down but you managed to..by telling him to calm down.
Rhaenys told you that she would sleep in your bed with you while you slept and that’s exactly what she did. She read you to sleep and held in her arms like she used to do to Laena.
The morning came and you got dressed for the funeral to met the Royals…the rest of your family. You had nieces to meet…and nephews, a brother and his wife and then your bother in law…So many people to meet.
You came back to the main hall to see new people standing there. Three small children with white hair, a man with a crown on his head with white hair, then a woman with brown hair.
“Dear one come here.” They turned to you when your mother called you. They all seemed so interested.
They wanted you near them in that moment…they felt like they could die without you.
You meet them slowly one by one, the king and queen, seemed to act just like your parents. Sometimes you could tell that annoyed them.
Aemond was too shy to say anything but you alway catched him looking at you, Aegon just asked you the question everyone wanted to know and was that if you had a tail, when you said yes he was excited.
Helaena was sweet and said she was always liked reading about your kind.
Then the others came others, rhaenrya and her children and then her husband that you heard so much about. Him being the “Brother” you were waiting to meet. And he didn’t care for you that much when he heard about to in their letters because they seemed to be all about you.
Like you were actually their child and to a small extent laenor was jealous about it, because you seemed to be the favorite. But he didn’t hate you but just seemed to put off the idea of you.
That was until he looked at you, hiding behind his father where he could only see you when he hugged his mother. His whole world flipped upside and for the first time that day he felt happy and warm. There was something about you.
You moved back so he could talk to his father but he didn’t let you go to far without him. “Hello dear sister.” He bend down on his knee and opened his arms to you, and your small smile made him obsessed.
“I’m sorry, I wish I got to meet her.” You whispered to him and he was happy you were so sweet.
While you had a moment with your family rhaenrya and her children watched along…like everyone else.
Rhaenrya came over to you first to introduce herself, she did and you bowed your head. She told you how beautiful you were and how happy she was to finally met you. Then she called over her two boys that looked sad but just as nervous to met you…But they had excitement.
Of course they said their apologies but managed to get a hug out of you because you could feel their grief…only it wasn’t for their aunt.
The last person you met was daemon who came a little late, with his daughters.
Lets just say daemon went straight to you even though no one really wanted him to but he was curious about you. A mermaid? It was so far stretched but the question was put to the side when he saw you.
He didn’t say much but smirk at you and glance as to..He kinda scared you.
The girls watched you in pure delight and wonder, you’re just as beautiful as the books say. If it wasn’t for the sadness they felt they would be jumping all around you and asking their questions. But when they looked at you that feeling slowly went away, just feeling warm.
You stood in between corlys and rhaenys, you felt so out of place. You didn’t know the woman who died, ‘Your sister’, but you did feel guilty about her death. You felt like you replaced her before she died but now everyone was watching you.
Your uncle, vaemond who treated you like royalty, said some speech about the Velaryons and he looked at different people while he said them. But you were surprised when daemon started laughing cause you to be confused and a little bit angry.
Doesn’t he have a bit of sympathy? A father and mother just lost their child, his children lost their mother, she was a aunt and sister but a human. What does gives him the right to laugh?
The glare you gave him doesn’t go unnoticed by your father and he pulls you into his arms to stop you from getting to angry.
After the funeral you mostly hide with your mother trying to get away from everyone. But that never seemed to work.
The whole funeral was just everyone trying to talk to you and have a excuse too, it was tiring. But when daemon tried you rolled your eyes.
“I don’t want to be near you, I’ve known you for less then a day and I know you’re a asshole.”
You expected him to yell at you but he just laughed. He laughed at your words and patted you on the back and walked away but saying a whisper.
“You’ll be near me one day, you’re family little one.”
And the the night took a unexpected twist.

Tumblr media
JEAN
Okay let’s be honest, while Jean is an amazing big sister while she’s there, she is rarely… there.
It isn’t out of a wilful neglect, it’s rather that as the Acting Grand Master, her schedule is so tightly packed that she barely has time to breathe, let alone taking time off for personal reasons.
When she does manage to squeeze in room for you, it is usually a short slot of time between her usual tasks. Kaeya, noticing how desperate she was in rearranging her schedule to spend time with her sibling, did her the favour of crossing off some of her tasks and handing them away to other Knights.
(When she found out it was Kaeya who was messing with her schedule, she gave him a stern talking-to. She was secretly pleased that she got to spend more time with you… even if it meant chasing down some poor subordinates to make sure her jobs actually got done properly.)
Windrise is the first place that Jean likes to take you. If it’s a warm day out, she’ll pack a picnic and spread it underneath the shade of the trees. There, she’ll tell you stories; about Vennessa, about the origins of the Gunnhildr Clan, about her own adventures during her early years as a knight.
Sometimes she will reminisce with you about when you were a kid, clinging to her arm. She’ll tell you about how as soon as you learned to walk, you would follow her around like a little duckling, one tiny fist clutching the hem of her jacket. When you got a little older, you joined her in her preparation to become a proper noble, sitting beside her in etiquette lessons and observing from the sidelines during her knightly training. Even if the lessons were painfully dull, she’d always try and keep you entertained with little games to pass the time—or as much as she could without your mother staring in disapproval.
By the time she’s done with her stories, the day would have already almost finished.
It’s pleasant; peaceful in the way that one can’t grasp the flow of time until hours have past and the two of you are curled up on a picnic blanket under a sky full of stars.
She takes you for meals at Good Hunter too, letting you order whatever is on the menu. If there isn’t anything there to your liking (or if you’re just not feeling up for it that day) she is quick to whisk you home and cook you something herself.
It’s calming for her, when she’s able to direct all her focus into one manageable task like putting together a meal. She likes pizza best—a simple, delicious meal that she can put together with minimal effort and something she can easily share with her sibling.
When the day ends, and she must go home, she’ll give you a tight hug and kiss the top of your head, with a promise that you’ll spend the day together again soon.
ROSARIA
No. 1 protective sister right here.
Like, good luck to anyone who even thinks of hurting you. Their graves are already dug by the time they turn your way.
She made a promise, after all: no matter what happened, she would protect you.
It was first made when she was only a young girl, holding an even younger child in her arms. She brought you closer, squeezing her eyes shut and whispering the words into your hair. You were far too young to realise what the words truly meant, but you would come to learn their meaning as you got a little bit older and the remote village you both called home was massacred.
The bandits that took her in were apprehensive about the tiny child clinging to her leg. After all, it’s one thing to teach a little girl how to become a crook, let alone a literal toddler. But Rosaria refused to part with you, baring her teeth and yelling and screaming at anyone who even dared to suggest leaving you behind.
Your role was their errand person, mostly. While Rosaria made sure you were seen as the smaller and feebler of the pair, letting you drift away to the shadows of the crew, she also passed on everything she learned: lockpicking, thievery, and most importantly combat.
The bandits taught her how to fight, and she taught you. It was a compromise; keeping their contact with you minimal while also teaching you the skills you needed to survive in your new life.
(Even if you rarely got to use your newfound skills. Anyone who even tried to cause you trouble were swiftly taken care of by Rosaria.)
In her eyes she was doing you a favour; if you were treated as weak and insignificant, they would forget about you. And if they forgot about you, they were less likely to hurt you.
It was a blessing from Lord Barbatos himself when the group of bandits was taken down by the Knights of Favonius, and you were both swept away from the life of bloodshed and carnage that you had spent your entire childhood surrounded by. When you faced the Grand Master, you were considered young enough and inexperienced enough to be pardoned, while Rosaria began rehabilitation via the Church of Favonius.
These days, your lives are far less hectic than your youth.
During her free time (or rather the time spent slacking off on her duties) Rosaria slips away from the Church and sweeps you away for a day of bonding. If you need more clothes, she’ll drag you to every store in Mondstadt looking for something that fits you just right. It’s a sweet gesture, even if she brutally critiques your fashion choices. It’s out of love, I swear.
She also likes to just sit quietly with you, comfortably existing next to each other.
Rosaria isn’t big on affection, but whenever she knows you won’t see each other for a long period of time, she’ll embrace you tightly and murmur a promise into your hair just like when you were kids.
“No matter what, no one will ever hurt you.”
LISA
When it comes to her loved ones, Lisa is a big fan of pet names, particularly the overly sappy ones.
Sweetheart, cutie, love—no matter who it is, anyone who is close to Lisa has probably been called at least one term of endearment in their life.
But while she has a variety of names for her favourite people, she has a habit of mentally assigning each person a different nickname that is exclusive for them.
Jean is her darling. The traveller is her cutie. Razor is her sweetie. You’re the only one to end up with two names.
There’s her most frequent one, dear.
“Oh, would you pass me that book, dear?”
If she’s feeling particularly affectionate, she’ll switch it to precious.
“(Name), my precious, are you feeling alright?”
Either way, there’s always a light teasing and subtle edge of fondness to her words when she talks to you.
Good luck if you ever try going to her for romantic advice. She may give the most wonderful, effective guidance in the world, but it will be accompanied with heavy teasing and not-so-subtle prompts to divulge more details about your love life.
Even if you’re not interested in romance, she still finds ways to tease you.
Rest assured that despite her tormenting, she knows when to step back. She’s always been perceptive of other’s emotions, so as soon as she notices you getting upset at her words, she is already smoothly shifting the conversation to something more comfortable.
When you’re tired, she’ll let you take a nap in the library, either resting your head on your arms at her desk or curled up on one of the couches in the library. After chuckling at you (and making a mental note to tease you later about falling asleep so abruptly), she will fetch a blanket and tuck it over your shoulders.
Archons help anyone who even tries to wake you up. The library patrons learned to fear the wrath of the librarian a long time ago, and anyone who dares to disturb your peace will face the pain of Electro.
You become slightly feared in general, if only by being so closely affiliated with such an intimidating woman. If Lisa manages to get you to help track down some books, it only takes one threat of calling her to get the person to panic and hurriedly accept the late fee.
Lisa is thoroughly pleased with your work when you return, and might even treat you to some Sticky Honey Roast from Good Hunter if you’re lucky.
Overall, Lisa is a great sister. She adores her sibling more than anything, and that is what counts.
SUCROSE
Sucrose is such a sweet big sister!
She’s not the best at comforting others, but she is an amazing listener. Come to her with any of your worries, and she’ll nod along and consider your words carefully, only interrupting to suggest a solution to whatever is going on in your life.
She’s also willing to just give you a hug while you work through whatever emotions that you’re dealing with.
Speaking of which, Sucrose is a 10/10 hugger.
She will squeeze you just the right amount and rub circles into your back while she murmurs comforting words. Hugging her feels so safe and warm, like in her arms you’re sheltered from anything that could hurt you.
If you show even the slightest interest in her work, she will be thrilled. It only takes one question, a simple ‘what are you doing?’ to get her to vibrate with excitement and ask eagerly if you want to hear about her work.
She gets very rambly in her explanations but give her a little patience and she’ll go through her process, step by step. She’s more than willing to have you observe her experiments, and even participate in them if you’re confident enough to.
Sucrose is very insistent on you taking good care of yourself. She knows the detrimental effects a lack of sleep can have on a person’s health, so she makes sure you get a good rest every night, and lightly scolds you for staying up too late. On nights when you can’t sleep, she’ll make you a soothing cup of tea, and tell you stories to lull you into a slumber.
When you were younger, she would tell you all kinds of stories. With just her words, she could weave epic tales and colourful worlds, all from her own imagination. As she grew older and began her interest in alchemy, she strove to create a wonderland of her own, and make the fairy tales you loved become a reality.
Her research still has a long way to go, but rest assured she will keep going, to make your stories a reality.
EULA
Just like Rosaria, Eula is the sister who would not let anything happen to her sibling.
She won’t stand for anyone acting snobbishly towards you for your Lawrence heritage. When it comes to herself, she doesn’t care what others have to say about her. She accepted their distrust of her a long time ago, and their words do not affect her anymore.
But her sibling? Her precious, innocent baby sibling? Who has never done anything wrong in their entire life? Who doesn’t deserve a single one of the hostile remarks that they face simply for their lineage.
That simply will not slide.
She knows what it is like to be a social pariah—she was forced to become one ever since she was born into an aristocratic family—but she despises the fact that you have to go through the same thing. It only fuels her desire for vengeance, seeing someone who she knows is a good person being ostracised for no reason. She can’t help but wonder, ‘Why wasn’t I enough? If you must make someone your martyr, then why couldn’t you have settled with only hating me? Why do you have to drag another innocent person into it?’
She is well aware that her demeanour causes others to distrust her more, but at least it makes you look more palatable in comparison. Maybe if they do see her as the worst of you both, they’ll see you as a perfectly respectable person, rather than simply a Lawrence. Besides, she doesn’t owe anyone any kindness, not when none was shown to her.
Other than being a bit overprotective, Eula also adores teaching her sibling new things.
It started with bladework—an essential skill, as she called it. According to her, everyone should have at least one weapon they’re proficient in, and for you she chose swords. Catalysts were always too finicky for her, she’d never been fond of long-distance weapons like bows, and both claymores and polearms were too heavy for you at that age, so swords were the best option.
Soon enough, you were as skilled in Favonius Bladework as any knight. She was rather proud of how quickly you picked up the skill.
The one thing she is most enthusiastic for you to learn is dancing. I think if you asked her to teach you, she would have trouble hiding just how excited she is.
Despite having an open distaste for aristocratic traditions, the Dance of Sacrifice is one that she will always cherish. It is the one custom that feels close to her, and one that she only shares with the most important of people.
So of course she will share it with you.
Eula may act aloof and cold most of the time, but if you surprise her with a hug, she will simply melt. Physical affection (affection in general, actually) wasn’t given freely in your house growing up, so whenever she gets it, Eula doesn’t quite know how to react, other than embracing you back tightly.
(That privilege of being able to come that close to her without asking is strictly only tolerated by you. Anyone else, and she would have sworn vengeance ten times over.)

The article basically says what it's in the title but if anyone wants to read the article it is below. The book will be out in August 1st.
Lottie Tomlinson has documented the 'highs' and 'lows' of touring with brother Louis at the height of his One Direction fame and the grief she suffered following the devastating loss of her mother and sister in new memoir Lucky Girl.
The influencer, 25, was just 16 when she travelled the world with Louis and his bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Liam Payne, working as a makeup artist during their global On the Road Again Tour.
And she looks back at the adventure, which began when Louis was propelled to stardom on the X Factor, in her upcoming book, where she talks about how she coped amongst the madness.
Lucky Girl, set for release in August, also reflects on the enormously difficult chapters of her life, losing her beloved mother Johannah to leukaemia and three years later, her sister, who was only 18 when she died from an accidental overdose.
In MailOnline's exclusive video, Lottie revealed: 'I have been working on a very special project, which will be launching in August.
'It's the release of my brand new book Lucky Girl.
'It's such a special project for me and means so much, looking back on my journey for the first time, all the highs and the lows from the early days of my career when I was just 16 years old to finding my way when life changed forever.
'Apart from being in a place where I feel truly happy, I have learned to navigate through the hard times even when loss and grief changes your life forever.
'People often ask me how I got through it all and this book is my answer. I hope that it can inspire you to find your own luck.'
Lottie was just 18 when her mum passed away, describing the sudden loss as 'shocking' and 'scary.'
Just three years later, her sister Félicité died from an overdose aged 18, leaving Lottie and her siblings including sisters Phoebe and Daisy devastated.  She regrets Félicité not having access to the help she desperately needed in the years after their mother's death and has campaigned for families to have further aid when coping with grief.  The mother-of-one, who shares son Lucky, 18 months, with fiancé Lewis Burton, has spoken about the all encompassing grief she suffered and how it put a strain on her big family.
Tumblr media
She said: 'It was interesting how I coped… obviously it was two different relationships, a mum and your sister, which is more of a friendship and then the different ages, there's a lot that comes into play.
Tumblr media
'There's not a one size fits all with grief and everyone deals with it in their own way.'
Lottie told MailOnline that while writing the book was a 'very emotional experience' she also loved the opportunity to look back on her life so far.  She said: 'It's going to be personal to my story. It has been an amazing experience but also very emotional. I have loved it… it's something I have wanted to do for ages. 'We have been working on this for a couple of years, I can't wait to release it and see when it all comes to life.'
Lucky Girl: Family, falling and finding my way will be published in hardback, audio (with Lottie narrating) and eBook on August 1st

I’m looking for an artist to collab with for an AU
Hello! If you don’t know me already, my name is Dragon, the author of the TADC fics 5+1 and Royally Screwed (and also a funnybunny shipper). However, I am coming up with a totally new AU, something similar to the carnival and freakshow au as well as inspiration from Bendy and the Ink Machine, Poppy Playtime and Amanda the Adventurer.
I call it ‘The Amazing Digital REDACTED’ au.
In this au, you ‘the player’ play as Jax, an ex-employee of C&A returning to the abandoned building in order to find the rest of your work employees after a mysterious incident years ago. With hidden knowledge that he must enter the game in order to find them, Jax does just that while managing to retain his memories. Along with his accomplice Bubble (a helpful AI who wants to free the rest of the trapped souls) and some help from his friend Winter (yes Winter from 5+1 will be in this but that fic isn’t canon to this au) on the outside, Jax tries to fix his past mistakes and save everyone – especially a particular jester he loved and lost long ago.
Yup that’s right, Jax will be the main character of this au and you will be playing as him. Let me explain, there is a feature on AO3 that allows you to make multiple choices on how you want the story to play out, like a telltale video game if you understand what I’m saying. You will get to pick and choose how Jax goes about his adventure and receive more than one ending (with a canon ending as well). And yes, this au’s main ship is funnybunny as I believe that it deserves more recognition and I find that these two in this au are very interesting to explore (especially with their past).
However, this fic is going to take quite a long time to make and is going to be bigger than anything else that I have written in the past. That is why I want to team up with a fellow TADC/funnybunny artist (since I am not an artist and do better with writing and characters) and create a separate blog for this au to come up with comics and art together. If you’ve seen the blogs for the Carnival and Freakshow au’s, you know that with their comics and art they explore more of the world, drop some lore, do character sheets and explain the pasts of the characters. This is what I’m hoping for if I team up with an artist. This au will mostly be on tumblr however if it does well I might add it to twitter as well since I’m putting this post on twitter as well.
Here are what I have pictured for the characters so far.
Jax: Past name; Jack. Ex employee of C&A, main character and who you the player will be playing as. Before the ‘incident’, Jax used to work at C&A as part of a coding team, to make sure that there were no bugs before any games were released. While C&A wasn’t on his list of jobs to pick, it was the only one that seemed best due to the pay and the fact that they could pay for schooling for those with children. Since Jax has a little sister named Jane, and has no parental figures in his life, he takes the job in order to help pay for the both of them and to make sure that Jane gets a good education. Unlike his canon TADC counterpart, Jax is more quiet, tired and while sarcastic, isn’t all out cruel to everyone unless they are bad people (think Mike from the FNAF movie especially with his relationship with his younger sister). He becomes quite close with his boss’s daughter however, Penny (Pomni) with him starting to develop feelings for the shy girl. However, after the day of the ‘incident’ Jax is left with nothing but guilt since he knew things that contributed to that day. Now he has a chance to make things right and save everyone, and Pomni.
Pomni: Past name; Penny. Ex employee of C&A and daughter of the CEO Abel, Pomni is an extremely introverted and socially awkward person, due to being traumatised by her mother’s death. She and her father don’t have a good relationship, with reasons that will become clearer later. She was quite close to the past version of Ragatha, but other than her father, she doesn’t really have a relationship with anyone. She likes to work alone to focus on the numbers and accounting part of her job (she understands numbers more than people) until she meets Jack. Though Jack is usually a bit standoffish, he is sweet to Penny due to her shy nature and helps keep an eye on her throughout their jobs so that she doesn’t feel too overwhelmed. Overcome by his sudden kindness and protectiveness, Penny starts to develop feelings for Jax. However, after the day of the ‘incident’ she is now trapped in the game, forever a jester trapped in a box…until Jax shows up.
If you’d like to be an artist for this au and collab with me, you can send me a DM or @ me. Do either of these and a sketch of the characters and I will reach out to you and confirm that you can be my partner for this project.
Here are some visuals on how I envision the characters.
Jax:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sans the goggles, think of Jax wearing this over his grey and dirty overalls, he could also be holding a makeshift weapon like a bat or a stick so that he can fight off enemies. This version of Jax is much more serious and he is ready to fight in order to get the job done.
Pomni:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(on the last pic, focus on the makeup rather than the outfit)
Overly baggy and childish, with blue and black instead of blue and red. This design is a reminder of her past trauma and as so, is implemented into her circus features. Due to it being too big for her, it makes it hard for her to run and escape, and the ridiculousness of it all is a huge slap in the face that this is her new life now and is fully erased of her past.  Even the makeup covers up any kind of normalcy on her face.
Well that’s it for now, I hope you guys take this into consideration and I hope you all have a lovely day/afternoon/night.

Incoming rant about The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Herlock Sholmes from The Great Ace Attorney, and the BBC Sherlock (no major spoilers ahead I promise).
A preface before I begin; I was never a big fan of Sherlock Holmes or any adaptation of the stories. I've seen Elementary although I was very young so I only have the vaguest of memories of enjoying it, and my roommate had me watch a couple BBC Sherlock episodes when I was a tween/young teen. My mother claims she tried to get me into Sherlock Holmes but I'm rather skeptical. Anyhow, onto the story.
Back in March my boyfriend bought me the Ace Attorney games for my birthday which included the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles (or Dai Gyakuten Saiban for those who are still stuck on the pre-localization names ;p). I was on my flight home from my birthday trip after I got the news my manager fired my brother while I was out of the state and figured why not, I'd start playing the first TGAA game on the flight. I'd probably enjoy myself and I couldn't sleep.
Second biggest mistake of the year (first biggest was trusting Les Schwab to do my brake job). I. Was. Hooked. I played the first case and fell in love with Kazuma instantly (he's so Zero shaped!). I played the second case and realized that calling him Zero shaped was way too accurate. We all know what happened there. Most important to this rant, I met Herlock Sholmes (more on my opinions on him later). I could barely put the game down but I had to take a break due to finding a new job and getting adjusted. I ended up finishing the game in June or July, one of the two. I finished the final case of the first game in one long 12 hour gaming session it was that good (my back didn't thank me though).
Now, the man of the hour: Herlock Sholmes. I didn't think much of him initially. He was simultaneously charming and annoying in the second case but as I played more he grew on me. I cried when the start of 1-5 happened. He clawed his way up into like the top 7 favorite characters at the time. The ending of the game with him playing his violin made me bawl my eyes out. I. Loved. This. Game.
It took a few more months to start and finish the second game. In between Adventures and Resolve I played Skyward Sword, Minish Cap, and some others so I had a healthy break. I came back to play Resolve and finished it like two months ago. It hit me in the gut just as hard as the first game did although there are a great many things I'd tweak and do differently. But Herlock Sholmes... man, he's not my favorite but he's up there underneath Kazuma and Van Zieks.
Anyhow, I finished the game but the hyperfixation had started and would not let me go. I've never been one to go out and seek fanfiction due to... personal stuff but I had a feeling I didn't want to go probe the depths of AO3 yet for fear of crying. I started a graveyard shift at my job which severely limited my ability to talk with people about stuff and also there's so many major spoilers but very few people I knew had played the game. A thought occurred to me, however. What about Sherlock Holmes audiobooks? I have an auditory processing issue which has made listening to audiobooks hard but I decided to give it a go. Perhaps it would satiate the TGAA hyperfixation hunger.
I found the ones produced by Magpie Audio, expertly narrated by Greg Wagland. Go check him out, he has over 77 videos of Sherlock Holmes audiobook recordings and all of them are a minimum of 40 minutes, often times far more. I went through over 30 hours of audiobook in a few weeks listening to these. Sherlock Holmes is such a good character and I can understand how and why he took late Victorian England by storm. And you know what the best part is?
Herlock Sholmes is the most faithful adaptation I have personally seen as a character of the original Sherlock Holmes.
They got so many of Sherlock's little idiosyncrasies right and you can tell the entire team were genuine fans of the books. I listened to Mr. Wagland's narration *and I saw 221B Baker of the games*. Especially the jack knife impaling the communications to the mantle being referenced in the game? The sheer mess of the flat? It's so good!
My roommate (whom is also a Sherlock Holmes fan) noticed my newest hyper fixation that spawned off of TGAA and that reignited his Sherlock Holmes obsession. He was a fan of the BBC Sherlock and now recognizes it was not a very great show but it's a comfort media for him nonetheless. He just dragged me into rewatching it and... okay, it's playing into a lot of inaccurate Sherlock tropes I don't like but goddamn Martin Freeman carries the whole show. I love his John Watson because it feels like a reasonable version of a modern, younger Watson. He feels real in a way. I do like the fact that even in the first episode, it's established that John and Sherlock can make each other laugh and smile just like in the books. I don't forgive them calling Sherlock a sociopath, however (speaking as someone with a brother that has been diagnosed with being a high-fuctioning sociopath). He's AuDHD to the max and deserves recognition in that department.
All of this to say, I can trace my current Sherlock hyperfixation back to Mega Man. Finding Mega Man in 4th grade led to watching the Ace Attorney anime in late 2021 which led to playing The Great Ace Attorney and that led to listening to Sherlock Holmes. I don't know why I decided to make this post but maybe I might start live blogging this shit? All in all, this is going to be a wild ride.

When the little brother goes for an 'adventure': Riddle, Leona, and Azul edition. Short stories(?)
I saw someone post this idea under platonic yandere and I wanted to try my hand at writing it. I really hope that I don't mess this up. Link to the post. I hope that I did the idea justice.
Warnings: Yandere and this is insanely long by my writing standards.
Riddle Rosehearts
Shortly after my brother's overblot, Riddle became more and more controlling over what I could and couldn't do. I could color my heart out but I wasn't allowed to eat on my own. He was very confusing on what was allowed and what wasn't.
Normally, I'd never dare to leave Riddle's side but today, the outdoors was practically calling out to me for an exploration. Plus Ace has been making fun of me for my vitamin D deficiency. I get it! I'm pale. Not my fault.
Riddle was busy in his room, determined to finish all of his homework before our mandatory tea party at six. It's four right now, so I think that I have time to go and explore NRC campus and get some sunlight.
I decided that it would be for the best if I changed out of the dorm uniform and into a t-shirt and a pair of shorts. This way, my body will produce more vitamin D and I can get my cardio work done. I quickly exited Heartslabyul and quickly made my way to Ramshackle dorm. I remember Yuu talking about how there was a forest around there and I personally love to run next to nature.
The forest that Yuu was talking about was actually quite lovely. There was plenty of natural wildlife and a whole bunch of different flowers. I also noticed that while I was running that there were violets growing everywhere. Trey-senpai loves candied violets and he has been helping me out with Riddle for a while now. I should make him some a thank you.
I got close to the ground and started picking the violet heads without them crumbling on me. I just kept picking more and more until I realized that I was lost. I left my magic pen back at the dorm because I didn't think that I was going to travel this far into the forest plus looking up at the sky, I would say that it's close to 6:30 at this point.
Riddle is going to have my head, isn't he?
"Ah... Crap. I've really messed this up, haven't I?"
I started muttering to myself to try and calm myself down. Sadly, it wasn't working and the next thing that I heard terrified me to my core.
"(Y/N)! HOW DARE YOU KEEP YOUR QUEEN WAITING!?"
Riddle looked like a mess. His face was red and his dorm outfit had stains all over it, meaning that he has been searching for me for a while now.
I did what any normal person would do in this case. I ran. I ran far and fast. Riddle in this mood was dangerous and I'm not feeling brave enough to face him right now.
"(Y/N)! GET BACK HERE, YOUNG MAN! OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!"
I quickly ducked and saw a collar flying over my head. It wrapped around a tree branch before disappearing. Riddle was throwing everything that he could at me. Thank you Mother for all the agility training lessons and steak knives that you threw at me.
I jumped to see a wave of water rush underneath me but I wasn't ready for the tree branches to cross together to block my path.
"OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!"
I felt the collar wrap around my neck this time. I wrapped my hands around the collar from reflex and next thing that I knew, Riddle ran into my back knocking us both to the ground. All of the violets that I had picked were now muddy and worthless. So, much for doing something nice for Trey.
"WHY ARE YOU IN THIS FOREST?!"
"I-I-I..."
"WELL?!"
I felt my body start to shake. Riddle when angry was always terrifying and this time was no different. I felt his eyes bore into my body, awaiting my answer.
"I thought that it was okay to go outside for a bit..."
My voice was small and shaken, unlike my normal monotone voice. I felt like a child for once.
"Well, it's not. Okay? You should have just waited in the main dorm room until I was done with my homework. Now, because of your little 'adventure', we don't have any time for a tea party and we're both messes. Come on."
Riddle grabbed my arm in a crushing grip and pulled me to my feet. He didn't relinquish his hold the whole entire walk back. In fact, I was pretty certain that he kept on tightening his grip. Even though I am the stronger brother, Riddle's grip still hurts me. I wonder if that's because of the spell that Mom used years ago...
Finally, we reached Heartslabyul and everyone was shocked to see us both not looking our best. Dirt can really ruin someone's appearance. Riddle was getting angrier by the second. First, I completely ruined his time schedule and now, I'm ruining his appearance to the rest of his dorm.
Riddle pulled me all the way to his room and swung me in. I stumbled slightly, not used to being able to walk on my own, and saw Riddle lock the door to his room. He then walked into his personal bathroom, motioning me to follow suit.
I went into the bathroom and closed the door behind me. This was one of our weirder family traditions. Because Mom saw me as less of a human being, she would make Riddle and I wash together because "You don't deserve your own bath." So, now we just always bathe together. I tried to bathe on my own one time and Riddle threw a mild tantrum that had four other Heartslabyul students losing their heads.
Riddle got the water ready and we both just sunk into the water. The personal bathroom for a dorm leader is quite huge to be honest so we had a good amount of distance between us. Riddle was just staring me down while I sunk further into the water, wishing to disappear.
We got clean and put on clothes but Riddle's eyes never left my figure nor did it soften at all. He then pulled up two chairs and sat in one. Oh boy, it was time for a talk.
"(Y/N). What did you do wrong today?"
"I was late to our daily tea party."
"And?"
"And that I went outside without you by my side."
"You do realize that you broke your most important rules as well?"
"I was aware. I just thought that you weren't going to need me when you were saf-"
"That is no excuse."
I flinched at Riddle's cold tone. I wasn't looking forward to what he had planned.
"For breaking rule #5 of (Y/N)'s protection guidebook, you're now stuck by my left side for the next four days while doing your normal duties."
"Yes, my Queen."
"Good. Now come on. I have a different tea party to attend with Cater."
I nodded my head before standing up and going over to Riddle's left side. I held out my hand for him. He grabbed it and I helped him out of the chair. We then made our way to the tea party. Cater was there waiting for us and he gave a peace sign to us.
"Hey~! I didn't know that (Y/N)-chan was going to join us!"
"This was a last minute development."
"Okay! Well, pull up a chair and enjoy~!"
I only shook my head before pulling out Riddle's chair and pushing him in. I then took my place to his left. I wasn't about to put Cater in trouble. Cater then looked at both of us before he put his phone up and took a photo of us. Riddle's eyes widened slightly.
"#HeartslabyulTeaParty, #RoseheartBros, #AdorableBrotherlyLove! This photo is going to get so many likes!"
The rest of the tea party continued like normal. I was so thankful when it ended. I lost feeling in my legs and was ready to crash. Riddle gave me a light smirk while I held the door open for him. We both got ready for bed and we just crashed.
"I hope that you'll think twice before going out on another 'adventure'."
"Yes, my Queen."
Leona Kingscholar
(I really hate that I have two little brothers for Leona. But here we go! Also for the first brother, this will be before your complete kidnapping and for the second, this is before your transfer.)
Brother A:
"Dang! It's such a boring day! What's the point of having a weekend if you don't have anything to actually do?!"
I was just complaining to myself while lying in my dorm room. All of my roommates were out, practicing Spelldrive most likely, and the other first years are busy trying to get their homework. Those dorks not getting their homework done faster.
I got up from my bed and grabbed my trusty ax. It took me forever to get it onto campus. Crowley wouldn't stop making me promise over and over and then eventually, I had to sign a contract made by Azul. If I ever try to attack a student with said ax, I get teleported straight to Crowley's office. Honestly, it would be a pretty useful escape mechanism.
I decided that I was going to explore the Diasomnia dorm. It has some of the most interesting terrain out of all of the dorms and I want to see it. I made quick track over to the hall of mirrors and rushed into Diasomnia. If anybody from Savanaclaw saw me, Leona would hear about it.
Diasomnia has quite an interesting aura about it. I heard that it's close to Briar Valley in décor and flora. I quickly walked up to the castle and went inside. There were plenty of Diasomnia students in the lobby who were just staring at me like I had three heads. In fact, I saw a few of them getting their pens ready to attack me but thankfully, Lilia came out of nowhere to greet me.
"Fufufu~! It's not everyday that we get a Savanaclaw visitor. Especially one that's related to the dorm leader. What brings you here?"
"I'm glad that there is a friendly face here. I was just wondering if I had permission to go and explore the forest around your castle?"
Lilia's face morphed into a shocked one at my request.
"T-that's what you want to do? I truly thought that you came over to hang out with Sebek."
"Nah. Don't get me wrong, I love Sebek but he's busy with the other first years. I think that he's yelling at all of them for messing up the work."
"Oh~ Love?"
"Easy there. Platonic love."
"Awwww."
Lilia's face formed into a pout. I let out a light laugh.
"Sooooo, am I free to prowl your grounds?"
"Of course! I'll let Malleus know of your presence so that you don't end up being fried cat!"
"Thanks."
I exited the castle and quickly scaled down the cliff to the forest below. All of the trees didn't have leaves which I guessed was normal for this dimension. There were also no animals around which I sort of expected. There was no actual food in the area for anything. No green = no small prey. No small prey = no predators. But honestly, I think that it's better this way.
I heard a twig snap behind me. It was a few miles away so I wasn't too worried about it. What started to worry me was the whooshing that was coming up behind me fast. I turned around and saw Malleus floating at me at full speed.
I started to run myself except a bunch of fire lit up around me, keeping me in the circle. Malleus then walked through the flames, glaring down at me.
"What brings you here, Kingscholar Two?"
"Just wanting to explore the area."
"Without asking permission from those who live here?"
"Lilia seemed okay with me being here."
"You are not welcome here. Leave."
Malleus normally isn't like this. I've seen him interact with plenty of people. Heck, even I had a few friendly conversations with him. Something must have really made him mad.
"Why aren't I welcome here? It isn't as if I'm messing anything up with your dorm."
"You're contesting me? I shouldn't have expected less from Kingscholar's little brother."
"Yeah, if you want me to leave, you're going to have to make me."
A smirk appeared on my face and a slight smile appeared on Malleus'. We always had small fights with each other to test each other's magic. Everyone is always afraid to fight us so we just fight each other.
Malleus was the first to send out a spell. A powerful fire wave that I was able to dodge by a millisecond. I sent back to him a water shot, trying to douse out his flames. I did hit him in the arm but he only laughed it off. This happened for a while before my ax accidently flew off my back and almost hit Malleus straight in the face.
Thankfully, the contract worked and I was teleported to Crowley's office with my ax now stuck in a wall.
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME, KINGSCHOLAR?! YOU PROMISED THAT YOU WOULDN'T ATTACK ANYONE!"
"I DIDN'T! I LOST MY GRIP ON MY AX AND IT WENT FLYING TOWARDS SOMEONE!"
"YOUR BROTHER IS GOING TO HEAR ABOUT THIS!"
"AWW, COME ON!"
I sat in Crowley's office until Leona arrived after five hours. Crowley refused to let me leave without supervision in case I went out of control. Listen, I may be able to hurt anybody and everybody but I have more control than that!
"You woke me up for this? Are you serious?"
Leona was given me the biggest death glare while I was just looking off to the side.
"Yes, because he belongs in your dorm and that he is your family, you must take responsibility and discipline your brother correctly to make sure that he won't harm somebody."
"A: What did he even do and B: Why should I care?"
"I can answer B. You should care because it will a bad rep for NRC and Savanaclaw together.
Your dorm will suffer if the press heard that one of your members either killed or severely wounded someone.
You also wouldn't get any beauty sleep. (Y/N), you have to answer A."
I glared at Crowley before telling my part.
"I went over to Diasomnia."
"...are you kidding me right now? Diasomnia!?"
"Listen! I know that you don't like the dorm leader but you don't have any right to forbid me from going over!"
"I've told you plenty of times! How many more times do I have to tell you!?"
"Keep yapping because I'm still not listening! But I was exploring the forest around the castle and Malleus and I started fighting."
I saw Leona clench his fist slowly. I was so in for it later.
"I had my ax strapped to my back and when I went to send my own spell, I pulled a maneuver that ended up having the strap slide off of my back and sent my ax flying towards Malleus' face. It was all accidental."
"Why were you fighting that Lizard in the first place?!"
"Because he was in a bad mood and one of the easiest ways for him to get out negative emotions is through fighting! You are the exact same way!"
Leona slammed his hands on Crowley's desk before standing up to glare at me.
"DON'T YOU DARE COMPARE ME TO THAT LIZARD AGAIN!"
Leona's roar was terrifying that it almost made my tail go between my legs. Almost is the key word. I stood up as well and just glared back with just as much fierceness. We both were letting out growls and getting tense. I was the first to strike.
I jumped onto Leona sending both of us flying over Crowley's desk, messing everything up.
"You've never cared about who I hung out with before! WHY DOES IT MATTER SO MUCH NOW?!"
Leona then kicked me off, my back making contact with Crowley's window, shattering it. The glass dug deep into my back. weakening me.
"Because you're starting to get on my nerves with who you choose to hang out with! First, it was that herbivore and now, it's that stupid Lizard!"
Leona then grabbed me and slammed me down on the floor, pushing the glass deeper. I saw black spots consuming my vision but I wasn't out just yet. I looked towards Crowley.
"Survival of the Fittest."
Crowley then collapsed while I felt more energized than ever. I was able to ignore the glass in my back and was able to wrestle Leona off of me.
I never realized how much power that Headmage actually had. Considering he never makes any effort in trying to do anything.
"I am your hunger, I am your thirst. I am what steals your tomorrows. Kneel before me! King's Roar!"
Leona's power was slowly draining the power that I stole away. We had to either wrap this up soon or until one of us submits. The rest of the faculty barged in and separated Leona and I from each other. Crowley's office was a mess, full of sand, glass, and blood. Leona was in worse shape than I was except at least he wasn't phasing in and out of consciousness.
"You pups need to be better disciplined! Two months worth of detention!" Crewel yelled at us, before we both were being ushered to our dorm by Coach Vargas.
We got healed once we hit our dorm and Leona demanded that I go to his room. The aura that we were radiating scared the rest of the dorm to get out of our way.
"What more do we need to talk about? We nearly just killed each other. I think that we got enough across to one another."
"You're done with going to other dorms."
"Excuse me?"
"I know that you heard me but I'll repeat for my slow little brother. Since you obviously can't be trusted by yourself, you have to be either at the main building or at Savanaclaw at all times. Ruggie will accompany everywhere with you."
"You can't just do that! I have other friends from other dorms!"
"Ah, thank you for reminding me! Drop them."
I just stared at Leona in disbelief. This man was trying to dictate my entire school life.
"You must be joking."
"I'm not. That's a command to you from your dorm leader. Now off you go."
I just glared at Leona before walking away in a huff. There was no way to get through to him while he's like this. My ears immediately picked up lighter footsteps.
"Go away, Ruggie."
"No can do, (Y/N). I'm not too happy about this either but I'm not about to go against Leona."
"Grrr."
I just continued walking down to my dorm and I just slammed my door closed. I heard Ruggie knocking but I refused to open the door and just put a pillow over my ears. I started to grit my teeth together, trying to keep my emotions under control.
"Leona will snap back to his senses. He has to. He has to."
If he doesn't, I don't know how much of my sanity will last this year.
Brother B:
"So, you're telling me: that you messed up a potion and then spilled it on my brother!?"
"Na-Na!"
I held out my hands and started to do grabby motions. I want upsies!
"Now, now, let's discuss this calmly like adults! Just put the chair down!"
I turned my head to witness Azul cowering behind his desk while Leona was trying to attack him with one of the comfort chairs in the VIP room. I wasn't getting upsies anytime soon.
"Ehh~ I knew that pouring that potion on Honey-chan would be funny."
"You're the reason why (Y/N) is now a toddler?!"
"FLOYD!"
Leona then turned the chair towards Floyd while Floyd wasn't paying attention. Jade was trying to keep in his chuckles while watching from behind Azul's desk. The room was just full of chaos.
I kept trying to get upsies but everyone was distracted. I got bored and left the VIP room. The Mostro Lounge was so full of pretty lights! My eyes then caught another shiny thing! A golden arm band on a white haired student. He was leaving the Mostro Lounge and I was quick to chase after him.
I came upon a weird mirror that many people were walking through and disappearing but I didn't care. I just wanted the shiny! I bolted through the mirror and came out of the other side. There were more people on the other side and more mirrors. I saw another shiny outside of the building and ran out. The shiny turned out to be the sun but it was really pretty.
There were also a bunch of pretty birds and two of them dropped a flower crown on my head. I let out a light laugh before deciding to follow them. I don't know how long I was running for but eventually, the birds flew off and I lost sight of them.
"Bye, friends! I hope to see you another day!"
I shouted and waved goodbye before I took a look around. I was in the middle of a forest and I don't know where I am.
"Na-Na?"
Where is my big brother?
"Lena?"
Where are my big brothers?
*Snap*
"AAHHHH! NA-NA! LENA! WHERE ARE YOU?!"
I picked a direction and ran as fast as I could, shouting out for my brothers. They have to be nearby! They have to! I felt tears leak out of my eyes before the next thing that I knew, I couldn't see anything because it was so blurry. My foot caught a root and I went tumbling. I felt plenty of ouchies form and I eventually stopped rolling. My whole entire body hurt so badly.
"Na-Na? Lena? Help me please."
I felt my eyes start to close and I couldn't keep them open any longer.
"(N/N)? (N/N)!"
"(Y/N)! Where have you gone?!"
"Honey-chan~! Come out so I can give you a nice big squeeze!"
I slightly reopened my eyes before whispering out one last time.
"Na-Na."
"(N/N)!"
I saw Leona rush over to me and I felt him pick me up. He felt so warm and comfy that I couldn't help but nuzzle deeper into him.
"I'm sleepy, Na-Na."
"No! Don't go to sleep yet, (N/N)! Stay awake for Na-Na! Please!"
"I'll try, Na-Na."
I really was trying. Whenever one of my eyes were starting to droop, I put my hand near that eye to lift it back up the eyelid. I didn't want to disappoint Na-Na.
"This is all your fault, Floyd!"
"My fault?! How?!"
"If you had just behaved, (Y/N) wouldn't be in such a fragile state!"
"EEEEHHHH?!"
"ZIP IT BOTH OF YOU! I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT!"
Floyd and Azul shut up after Leona yelled at them. The forest was zooming past and eventually, I saw the big castle that I saw from the weird mirror building again.
"Na-Na? Are we going to go to the big castle? Are we in the sky, Na-Na?"
"We're going to the big castle but we're not in the sky! You are not going to be in the sky anytime soon! I swear on my life!"
"But the sky is where all of the birdies live."
"But if you went to live in the sky, Lena and I couldn't visit you. Do you want that?"
"No. I want to visit Lena and Na-Na together."
"Good. Now stop trying to get to the sky."
"Okay."
"Eh, Honey-chan, if you want to get to the sky, I think that Azul can help you~"
"Floyd! Silence!"
Leona rushed me to a room with curtains and beds before setting me down on a bed.
"Fix him. NOW!"
I felt some relief in the places that were in a lot of pain. I felt a smile break out on my face. I opened my eyes to see Leona just there staring back at me. He looked quite grumpy. But I knew that was Leona's normal face.
I let out a giggle before putting my palm on his left cheek.
"Na-Na came and saved me."
"Yeah, Na-Na will always come save you. You should take a nap now though, (N/N). I'll be right back."
"Okay, Na-Na."
I closed my eyes and started to snooze.
"Now you two and I are going to have a talk. COME HERE!"
"EEK!"
"OUCH!"
The door then slammed shut and I heard a lot of banging from the hallway. Thankfully, the thuds were in rhythm and made it easier to fall asleep.
I wonder what dream I'll have this time.
*Leona's POV*
"Ugh, those stupid sea creatures. Making me waste energy on their problems."
I walked back into the nurse's office after beating Azul and Floyd to the ground to see (Y/N) just snoozing away on the bed.
"He's all healed up. He'll be right as rain by the time that he wakes up again."
I only nodded at the nurse, signaling to him that he could leave. He did leave and I crawled up next to my little brother.
"You're going to be the death of me. You should be thankful that you have me for your brother."
I'll make sure that nothing ever hurts you, even if I have to take you away from all evil.
Azul Ashengrotto
Land is awful. I need a break from the land. Azul, why did you have to bring me to the land?
"I want to go swimming."
"We can't go swimming today, (Y/N). You've got a debut to do today anyway."
Azul put the finishing touches on my outfit and I looked ten times more dapper than I usually do. I decided to practice my magic and manipulate water into beautiful shapes. A few Scarabia students saw the shapes and immediately ran up to me to watch what I could make. They even gave suggestions on what I should make and it was quite fun.
Azul found us doing it and from there on, he made me start putting on water shows for evening shifts. He did pay me but I didn't even want to perform. I just wanted to swim.
The lights started to blink, signaling that it was my time to go to the small stage. Azul gave me a warm smile before petting my head lightly.
"Knock them dead, little brother. Show them what Ashengrottos can do."
"Okay."
I walked out onto stage and turned towards the crowd. I was thankful for my time at my last school for the fact alone that everyone would always stare at me. I can take the stares.
I quickly bowed to the crowd before I activated my magic. Jade and Floyd put large containers of water all over the Mostro Lounge for me to manipulate. I started by having thin streams of water travel throughout the entire dining area. People were in awe with how soothing the running water sounded. I then separated the paths into different sections and formed shapes with each section.
The show was a huge hit. I would be constantly scanning the crowd to see what thing I should create out of the water and which table I should send it to. By the time that I was done, everyone was applauding and I even got some whistles. I did one last bow before rushing backstage.
"That was excellent! If you keep doing acts like that, profits will skyrocket! Although I don't know how I feel about all of the eyes on you. I might lock you up for a week after each performance, just so that they all understand that they can't see you all the time."
Azul whispered that last part but I still heard him loud and clear. It may have sounded like a question but I knew that he was actually going to do that. A week?! I can't stand only Azul for a week!
I felt my hand twitching and I was so tempted to run then and there. But no, I have to be careful about this. So, I waited and waited in the dressing room. I checked the clock and saw that enough time passed and that the Mostro Lounge would be at its busiest.
I peaked out of the dressing room to see Floyd and Jade rushing everywhere and I also got a peak of Azul taking someone to the VIP room. It was go time. I moved in short sprints until I made it to the mirror. I went through and saw nobody in the hall of mirrors.
"Yes!"
I sprinted to the outskirts of NRC campus. Because of it being on top of a cliff, I could just jump off and straight into water. I saw the coliseum and just kept on the path. I quickly came to the wind mill and rushed past it. The cliff was safe from sharp rocks at the bottom and sharp edges that I could hit.
"Deep breath. Let's go!"
I jumped and performed a dive into the deep water below. I felt my body shift back into my mermaid form and I just started swimming. I've never been allowed to explore the water around the Isle of Sages, mainly because Azul liked having a tight grip on the metaphorical leash around my neck.
The water felt so nice and cool on my scales. There were so many different types of fish around, I found at least five new types that I've never seen back at the Coral Sea! Plus there were so many different shipwrecks! One of them still had skeletons from the crew. Those poor souls, unable to break free of their containment.
I originally just planned to time myself fifteen minutes but... It's been so long that I couldn't help but break that limit. I haven't felt this free ever since I got here. My need for adventure has never felt so fulfilled before.
"I wonder what's under this rock?"
"Well, you're not going to find out."
I jolted upwards, wasn't expecting a voice. Let alone it being Azul's voice.
"A-A-Azul!"
"Here I thought that I made it clear that you weren't allowed to go swimming. I must have been much too lenient with you. I'll make sure to remedy my mistake."
"Rainbow-Chan!"
I felt Floyd wrap around me and then, I felt his teeth bite deeply in my arm. I let out a scream, plenty of pain flowing through my body. My vision was really blurry so I could only rely on touch to tell me what was happening.
I felt my head be lifted up and a potion going down my throat.
"There we go. Let's get you your legs back."
I passed out and woke up in Azul's room.
"No... No, no, no, no."
I quickly got out of the bed and went to try and open the door. As expected, it was locked.
"Let me out! Let me out please!"
"Little brother... It's three AM. You need your sleep."
I felt Azul's tentacles wrap around me before pulling me back to the bed. I was shocked that Azul was willing in his octo form but I couldn't let the shock stop me. I had to try and break free of his grip. But sadly, my human form is still quite weak.
Azul brought my head to his chest and put my ear above his heart to assure that I could hear it beating.
"Shhh, shhh. I know that you're upset. You woke up and put yourself in a fit. Don't worry, your big brother is here to protect you from all of your worst nightmares. After all, you're going to be in here with me for two whole weeks. We can bond and become very close together. Of course, I'll need to leave from time to time but I'll be back to spend all the time in the world with you."
"Two... weeks?"
"Yep! It'll be fun!"
Great Seven, please save me.

Being the daughter of a controlling mother is so weird, especially when your mother was a product of the same environment. It's like: I don't know how to say no because when I say no to you, nothing changes. I don't know how to assert myself without feeling like I'm being an inconvenience or that I'm risking making someone angry. I don't know how to suggest my opinion because I'm so used to defaulting to a people pleasing option that even when someone enthusiastically seeks my opinion, I still "read the room" the choose the option that will make everyone happy. I don't pursue many hobbies because I know you don't like messes and hobbies make mess. I leave projects half finished because I'm so used to having to throw everything in a drawer or otherwise "clean" it before your cleaning anxiety kicks in and we all have to clean the house for you. I listen to your stories about how you went on wild adventures as a teenager and hid things from your own mother, while I'm terrified of doing anything to disappoint you (not because you would punish me, but because I have such an aversion to upsetting people). I have almost no friends, I do nothing but work and go to college, and I sit at home online during all my free time because I'm not "allowed" to drive very far, and who really wants to hang out at the same 4 places with me?? You drove around town as a teen and left home at 18 and I'm almost 21 and not even allowed to drive half an hour to the next biggest town. No one wants to hang out with me because they know how you are and they know the only options are my house or the local fast food place, because I'm not allowed to drive further. You don't trust me to do things on my own but it's suddenly okay if I have a "chaperone" with me. You were skydiving at my age, but it's not "safe" for me to walk around the woods by myself. People offer to take me places out of pity but I decline because I'm almost positive that they don't really want my company, and they only offer because they must feel bad because I don't experience much.
You once explained to me that the reason you control everything and everyone (in your words) is because you had no control over your life when you were younger, so now you have this need to control everything. You don't realize that you're setting me up for the same position, or maybe you do realize but you can't stop yourself. I'm terrified that I'm going to do the same thing to my own daughters. I don't want this for them, and I don't want it for me.
When that little girl walked a few yards to her house after my grandma's funeral, my instinctual response was to panic and think "No! She can't do that!! She'll get hurt!!"
I didn't want to think that. It wasn't my thought, it was yours.
I love you so much, but I don't want to become you. I can't ever tell you this, because it would break you.
I'm the only daughter, the only child. I have to be good, I have to make you happy. I can't be independent because it won't make you happy, but I can't live my life with the independence level of an 8 year old. I see 12 year olds with more personal freedom than me. They're allowed to wander town as long as they keep in touch with their parents and they keep a level head. I'm not even allowed that, and I certainly wasn't at that age.
I do things that I don't want to in order to make people happy. I scold myself for having too many wants because I feel like it's selfish. It's selfish to write this. It's selfish to not want to be like you, because it would hurt you and that's wrong of me.
I can't ever tell you about any of this, because it would be the nail in the coffin for us. You think I hate you, and this would only confirm it for you. I don't hate you. I love you, but I hate the way you do some things. A person and their actions are two separate things.
You're so headstrong, and so am I, but only to you. It's funny. I defy you so much and make no headway, but I'm so submissive to everyone else to the point of putting on false personas to please a crowd. I think I defy and argue my side because if I don't, then I'd never have any opinion at all. I argue and fight because if I don't then that means my real thoughts are never voiced. You think I fight because I hate you, but I love you. You're my mother and I'm your daughter and I love you. I'm just really bad at showing it, I guess.
I won't control my daughters the way that I've been controlled.

The Lovers. Art by Nara Lesser, from Neurotic Owl’s Faerytale Tarot.
Gerda & the Little Robber Girl
Sooooo, the lovers.  This is one of the first cards I knew I had a plan for – this one, the Devil, the Emperor, and Death.  I am in no way the first to read a bitchload of queer subtext into this chapter of The Snow Queen; I’m probably not the hundredth.  It basically screams off the page.  If you’re not familiar with Hans Christian Andersen’s original story, you can read it here.  And because chatting about it with a friend reminded me that the Toast once used this same couple for Femslash Friday, you should totally go read that one here, it’s hilarious.
But so essentially, my lovers card is about rising above yourself and sacrificing for the one you love, and the balance between two opposing personalities who both need some of what the other has, and also just a teensy muff joke, how could I resist?  When we first meet the little robber girl she’s this wild, terrifying little Tazmanian devil, jumping her (terrible) mother an biting her to protect Gerda, promising Gerda that if anyone kills her it’ll be herself, terrorizing her ‘pets’, sleeping with knives.  She’s . . . not a great romantic prospect.  But the thing is, it’s all surface level swagger and overcompensation for the fact that she is clearly a sweet soft girl underneath.  She’s bold and brash and wild, and she balances out Gerda, who’s been somewhat passive through this whole adventure and really needs a little of what the robber girl has.  She’s also clearly had a TERRIBLE home life.  The story sort of sweeps over it, but we have descriptions of her mother ‘filliping her nose till it’s red and blue’, and her eventual plans for Gerda’s escape depends on her knowing that her mother will drink herself into a stupor by midday EVERY FUCKING DAY.  She makes it sound like she’s the scary one when she sleeps with her knife, but why exactly has a child learned that that’s necessary?  She’s had an absolutely tragic life so far, and yeah, she’s lashing out at the poor animals, but that also seems to stay at empty threats.  IT’S NOT GREAT and she seems primed to repeat the treatment she’s grown up with, but there’s more in her than that.  She has a wellspring of love inside her that saves Gerda.  She gives her back her fur boots; she steals her mother’s big mittens in exchange for her pretty muff (teehee) to keep Gerda’s hands warm, she gives her her reindeer and sends her off on her quest with no real expectation that her own situation will improve at all or that she’ll ever see Gerda again.
And happily we do see her again briefly at the end, riding out looking far more prosperous and happy, off to adventure herself, and if Gerda had half of the robber girl’s bravery she’d ditch Kay and go adventuring with her.  But boo, whatever, obviously that’s not the ending Andersen was going to write.
Gerda and the Robber Girl map so nicely for me with another famously queer-inflected female friendship, Anne Shirley and Diana Barry.  They have a similar dynamic – the one who’s grown up outside society is able to declare her passion loudly and intensely; the one from the safe middle-class home is less sure but clearly wants to go where her love leads.

If you were chosen to continue the Digimon Adventure 2020 story, what headcanon theories or ideas would do you have for the series going forward?
What you want the Digidestineds next great adventure to be? How would you want them to grow and develop as characters? And how would their relations evolve? Especially how do you imagine Tai's relation with Sora and Izzy would develop? (I love the three of them soooooo much in the 2020 series!)
If it were to take place right after the end of Digimon 2020?
Oh, if only I HAD that power...! I had already outlined a few aspects here before, but for completion's sake, I can elaborate again, because there are several possible scenarios I would like to see:
1.) Give me a slice-of-life-anime with the 8 being somewhere between 12 and 17 and have them go through some Tamers/Ghost Game-esque adventures in the real world. I had written a love letter for how much I adore episode 31 of OG Adventure structurally the other day and I would really love a series with the same vibe. Since the first season of the reboot was more plot-driven, this second season would primarily focus on their personal stories/backgrounds/family lives with Digimon-related shenanigans affecting technology and their everyday lives in the process. Giving every single character time and space to bloom. We would also learn more about the Crests and how each kid was chosen in the first place - I don't NEED reincarnation theory to be confirmed, but I would really like some more breadcrumbs into a satisfying explanation as for WHY THEY were chosen specifically in "this timeline" and how exactly the Crests came to be.
2.) I also had an idea based on a dream I once had, additionally furthered by the last episode or rather the "epilogue" that was presented there: I had outlined the idea here as well, but basically, it'd be about dividing the cast into primary and secondary squad (to allow more focus on singular characters in a shorter number of episodes) and have the former actually go gate-hopping and exploring the different worlds out there. It's a more self-indulgent idea, as it mainly focuses on the dynamics between Taichi, Koushirou, Sora and Mimi, but I couldn't keep the others away completely either. So I haven't fully utilized the idea yet...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3.) An interesting idea that was brought to my attention recently was the idea of making a season revolve around Taichi disappearing due to the gate-hopping. Since the first season basically revolved around typical Shounen protagonist Taichi Yagami, the second season would be about the others gate-hopping as well to find him. I haven't thought this one through yet either though...
In terms of general character development and relationship dynamics, I would be happy to actually see more about their individual selves, their flaws and worries and how they get along - or don't. It's really difficult to put a finger on how exactly that would look like, because I absolutely cannot blame the creators of the reboot for being "careful" on how to depict the characters beyond some general tropes. We've known these guys for TWENTY FIVE years and Tri already tried to tackle some things that were different, while still resorting to predictable outcomes without much depth we had already seen several times over - without intending to change the status quo too much. I obviously don't want to see perfect happy endings for everyone, but things were missing in the reboot so far that made the original characters so charming - and the reboot HAD the chance to elaborate on different outcomes here.
We already saw Jyou going for a more leadership-esque route, which his OG self actively didn't choose. So how would that affect his relationship with Taichi, who naturally got the leadership role again? How about Sora having a semi-peaceful relationship with her mother this time, so she can actually be experimental AND also choose to be a vital part of the group? What about Mimi coming from a rich family that provides technological gadgets - how would her knowledge on that influence the way she communicates with Koushirou? Would she try to be competitive for example? Show me more insecurities, show me how they'd actually challenge their Crest meanings? Show me a Hikari who rebels against her brother, show me a Takeru who takes charge, show me Koushirou being honest about his back story to the others (LET US KNOW IF HE IS EVEN ADOPTED IN THIS TIMELINE OR NOT), show me Yamato being vulnerable or try to be more humorous and failing at that! Show me Taichi having flaws! Again, I don't NEED him to be depressed AGAIN, but he has to have something he is insecure or unsure about.
As for Taikoura's relationship, once again, there are several ideas I could see, all shipping aside. One of them is the very self-indulgent "Team Light are actually connected mentally now and can sense and feel when the others are in danger" soulmate scenario that may affect how they interact with each other...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
... In more general terms, I do need them all to spend more time together. If you take the ideas 1 I outlined above, they would go through their daily lives together, visiting the same school, etc. So of course Taichi and Sora would focus more on their passion for football as they promised in season 1 and, as mentioned above, Sora might still feel weird about "growing into herself", but she would be more comfortable about experimenting. Combining her tomboy-ness with a more feminine side and exploring that further (and in an ideal scenario deepening her relationship with Mimi in the process, because the reboot did NOT focus on that yet AT ALL). And I want Taichi to be supportive of her in this!
Taichi also made a promise to Koushirou that they would explore the other worlds together - which may also apply to idea 2 I outlined, because I need them to have an OWG-esque partners-in-crime relationship in which they go on cyber adventures together. And in both idea 1 and 2, they would have to balance their daily lives and responsibilities with that. Meaning, this would be a great opportunity to actually see Taichi and Sora learn about Koushirou's home life - he might still try to hide it from them, but I'd want a huge chunk of the story to focus on them trying to get something out of him (gently of course!), having him explore his own identity in the process as well. Showing him that the bond he developed with these two (and the others too) does not just exist because he is "useful" to them, but because he really means something to them.
I obviously also want Koura to bond more with each other - not only over their shared affections for Taichi and because they want to figure out if he is actually hiding something behind that unshattered mask of positivity... Maybe in this timeline, I can finally get them to become canonical fashion buddies, who knows?
Edit: A very important aspect I forgot is that I want and need new Jogress and branch evolutions between the different characters! BE EXPERIMENTAL, TOEI, IT'S GOOD FOR MERCH AND SHIPPING.

Writing a Black mermaid struggling with Insecurities and comforted by white Character
@magpie345ab1 asked:
Hello! First of all I want to thank you all for this blog, it’s a great resource and really amazing work.
My question is about a story idea I have.  It is a side story adjacent to the main story meant to flesh out one of my side characters.  She is a fat black sixteen year old mermaid.  Her personality is very timid, anxious, easily flustered, contemplative, and empathic.  Her backstory is she struggled to find a friend group in school and was picked on (not racially based and bullies were various races), so she’s unsure of herself.  She is also just naturally jumpy.  As time has passed, she’s become friends with the main characters of the main story and the other side characters, so she has a very vast friend group now.  She’s the glue that keeps the group together, as she’s a very good listener and kind soul, and has helped on a few prior adventures.  She just struggles to get out of her own head and see how helpful she truly is.  She gets just as much out of the relationship as well, as they respectfully help her out of her comfort zone and support and love her.  She also loves doing hair (her mother owns a salon), painting, and watching Tiktok. The setting is in a fantasy realm adjacent to the modern world, so while there are modern references and technologies in some places, real-world oppression isn’t really present, and any that is is looked down upon and addressed.  The world is where Imaginations live, and the black mermaid is one of many imaginary friends of the white MC of my main story, so she has a strong but somewhat distant connection with her.
The story I have so far is there is a villain kidnapping mermaids and mind controlling them to make an army to take over the sea.  The black mermaid is roped in to helping the usually main characters and other side characters into helping, but is reluctant about joining due to her insecurities.  She looks up to the others (ranging in races/ethnicities from white, Iranian American Jewish, Burmese Hawaiian, and biracial white/Puerto Rican) as they have accomplished pretty amazing feats, but especially the white MC, and she struggles feeling inferior.  Throughout the story, she continues to second guess herself, seeing herself as a side character and nothing more, and is comforted by her BFF/crush who is the biracial Puerto Rican.  Before the climax the group except for the mermaid and the white MC are captured, and the mermaid has a breakdown expressing her insecurities.  The white MC consoles her, explaining she is just as much a hero as everyone else in the group even with her more subtle and quiet personality, and that she struggles with fear just as much.  This is meant to be a strong bonding moment between the two, and it motivates the mermaid enough to take on the villain and she defeats him.  In the end she happily reunites with the group, and finally kisses her crush.  The story would end with her and her now boyfriend hanging out together, with him calling her beautiful just the way she is.
The theme of the story is supposed to be that anyone can be the hero, no matter who they are, and that it is okay to be afraid in a scary situation and still overcome it.  I also struggle with anxiety similar to the one the character experiences and wanted to write based on that, but I am also white.  I wanted to know if I was falling into any stereotypes unknowingly, specifically if I’m falling into the Strong Black Female or the White Savior.  I don’t want it to seem like the other characters are forcing her to suck it up, rather they just genuinely want her help because she’s the only mermaid in the group.  Thank you all again for reading and helping!
I’m not sure if I clearly understand your universe but from what I got, your Black character has a quiet and soft personality which is pretty appreciable. The Strong Black Female cliché generally depicts Black girls/women as tough, emotionless beings, so going for a more calm and anxious personality is a great representation for that demographic. That cliché goes hand in hand with the assumption that Black girls/women who aren’t loud, extroverts and funny can only be mean. Quiet and shy Black girls are often perceived as contemptuous or aggressive (oh, how many times I heard that one when I was just *not talking*). I really appreciate you going deeper into her personality to show how her anxiety shapes her. Moreover, I consider it interesting to have other visions of what heroism means; you don’t need to be a loud fighter kicking ass to be a hero.
In order not to fall into the White savior trope, she has to be essential to defeat the villain. More generally, your White MC needs a balanced relationship with her : he gives her as much as she gives him. Since you said she glues the group together, it looks like you should be fine with her. Based on that, I think you should succeed in writing it correctly.
- Mod Lydie
Please see Mod Lydie’s great advice above!
I’d also like to add that you should be mindful of any mammy and sacrificial stereotypes as well.
Particularly with her being described as:
Helpful
The glue that keeps the group together
The one who steps up to defeat the hero
A helpful hand and motherly presence can easily slide into someone that puts everyone else first and doesn't have her own affairs minded. I’m not too concerned about you stirring into this territory, as you say “She gets just as much out of the relationship as well, as they respectfully help her out of her comfort zone and support and love her” which indicates she has strong mutual love in her relationships. The best friend / future romantic interest helps as well.
All and all, I’d say fully embrace this character! It’s really nice to see soft, quiet depictions of Black girls too.

Ive been thiking a little about some things:
1.- I dont remember if one of the Rules of Prismo's Wishroom was that you have to arrive on your own to get a wish or you could be invited, but even if thats the case they could still have Farmworld's Enchiridion (because here there is no backstabbing that ends with the book destroyed) to open a portal so Simon gets his wish the right way.
2.- Talking about Farmworld, I cant imagine how Finn, who has been living with a magical snow mom for a couple of months/years by now, would react to seeing a magical ice version of himself in Crossover.
3.- Continuing with Farmworld, we assume that both that and the regular timeline advance at the same time, so if they go into the multiversal adventure with Finn still being a Teenager, that would mean that Farmworld Finn would also be a Teenager when they arrive. But that could open another story, maybe they find him after his parents and brother died/left for some reason and he is on his own with normal Jake and Bartram, maybe when he meets his future wife AKA Huntress Wizard.
4.- If you think about it regular Marceline its indeed stronger than the Star we saw on canon because while the Star has the powers of all the Vampire Council, Marceline has that +VK pure vampire soul. Also idea, this Star was raised by The Empress instead of the VK, because she was the one who wanted to create an Empire on Stakes and in this AU maybe she trained Marceline to take down VK and get the throne. Also that opens the chance to have Betty saying "Empress! You're a bad Mother!"
answering in sections again:
1. I don’t think it’s ever specified if you have to arrive naturally or if you can be invited when it comes to making a wish — the only rule I remember (and there may be others that I forgot, so feel free to correct me if I’m wrong) is that you can only have one wish per person. as far as I know, Magic Simon should be able to make his wish when he’s first invited to the wish cube in order to explain the Snow Queen situation. however, if you do have to get there naturally and you can’t be invited if you’re making a wish, he’d probably just tell Finn, Jake, and Marceline what he was doing so they could help him collect the jewels and open the portal with their own enchiridion.
2. Finn would probably be very weirded out by Ice Finn, and it would also make him consider the whole Snow Queen situation even more. He sees this version of himself who’s absolutely destroyed by the crown, and then he turns around and sees his mom, who’s just… kinda senile and obsessed with her husband. I feel like that’s gotta mess him up, to know that the crown that made Betty obsess over Simon, also turned Finn into a monster in a different reality. if he talks to Snow Betty about it later, she’ll probably be able to explain the way the crown corrupts and what she was like at the start, as well as Ice Finn’s motivations for doing what he’s doing (because it’s not purely malicious, Ice Finn clearly talks about keeping everyone safe with his ice and trying to protect them), but that will be have to come later since they’re pretty busy avoiding the interdimensional cops when the two Finns meet.
3. you are right, and I actually didn’t consider that before, but I definitely should have. in that case, Farmworld Finn probably still has his wife (could be Huntress Wizard, Phoebe, or even Rosalinen from the Puhoy episode) and might have already had Jay, maybe? but probably none of the either children, and Jay would still be a baby, as would Little Destiny. I think Magic Simon and Snow Betty & co would probably still follow someone out to the crater, but in this case it’s more likely to be Farmworld Finn showing them that the crown is already destroyed, at which point they find the Jewel and decide to use it to find another version of the crown, and then Scarab shows up and they gotta book it real fast. Magic Simon may be way more powerful than he has any right to be, but nobody wants to risk him or anyone else getting put in one of those eggs if Scarab manages to hit them at the right moment. Farmworld Finn runs as soon as Scarab arrives, specifically because the Ooo gang told him to and because Magic Simon immediately started having a wizard showdown, and Farmworld Finn ain’t getting involved in wiz biz.
4. you’re RIGHT, she IS! and you’re also right about the Empress probably being the one to take a front role in raising her, because it seems like the VK is definitely following Empress’s plans here. Snow Betty would definitely yell at her and probably chuck a rock at her head, which I doubt would do anything but it would certainly make Snow Betty feel better. Marceline and the Star also get to have a showdown while Vampworld Bonnie watches and realises that maybe perhaps she has a bit of a crush on this alternate Marceline. just a small one. maybe actually a really big one. regardless, I think that VK is still the one with the crown and is ‘in charge’ of the empire, but he’s a little senile and it’s really Empress pulling the strings and mildly grooming the Star as her replacement if she or VK ever falls.

So you are going to make a fanfic about Pokemon, huh.
Are you a pokemon fan? Or you known about the franchise enough? or is a case of you, waking up one day and thinking:" I'm going to make a Pokemon Fan-Fic!" And started to consume media from it in order to make a story?
I was a child in 1998.
During that initial invasion of Pokemon into the West, when Pokemon was far more than simply the "most profitable media property in the world" that it is today, when it was a tidal wave phenomenon that swept away an entire continent, I was something of a Pokemaniac. I had Blue Version, Red Version, Yellow Version, Pokemon Pinball, Pokemon Stadium, Pokemon Puzzle League, Hey You Pikachu. I had (and still have) every single card from the first three TGC sets, included the oh-so-vaunted holographic Charizard card. I had Pokemon figurines, I had toy Poke Balls, I had Pokemon stickers, I had Pokemon stamps, I had Pokemon clothes, I had Pokemon strategy guides, I had Pokemon choose your own adventure novels. I had the then-complete runs of both Pokemon Adventures and Electric Tale of Pikachu (I vastly preferred the latter). I would wake up early every day to watch the Pokemon anime on TV. I went to Pokemon The First Movie opening day and remember walking into a theater packed to the brim only to hear a man scream—to my delight and assuredly my mother's horror—"SEATS IN THE FRONT ROW!"
Of course, it's been 25 years since 1998. I've played most of the mainline games since then (GSC, RSE, DPP, SuMo, and recently SV). I've seen a few of the endless array of movies. For some reason I watched the entire SuMo anime. So yeah, I still like Pokemon.
Is it my favorite thing ever? No. The unfortunate reality is the games are pretty formulaic and often have questionable design choices. It's not like Mario or Zelda, other nostalgic Nintendo series, where the devs put their heart and soul into each new mainline installment.
But the fundamentally fascinating elements of its world continue to interest me. I've always seen the Pokemon world as a near-future nigh-utopia, clean and neat and orderly, with large swaths of the population free to pursue their hobbies rather than slave away at some useless job. I've always wanted to delve into such a world narratively, as opposed to the endless dystopias that seem to clog contemporary fiction.
Chicago was written as a kind of critical response to To the Stars, which is a utopian story that glosses over the steps taken to reach utopia. I wanted to peer more deeply at how a world akin to that in To the Stars might actually be created, the kind of political turmoil and upheaval required to eventually integrate the panacea to mankind's ill—magic—into functional society. A Pokemon story would instead be about the utopia itself. What does it mean for society that children are not simply allowed but encouraged to leave home at 10 to pursue a vague, unstructured path to become what is basically a competitive sports athlete? What has had to happen to society for such a thing to be not simply okay, but preferred? And what does it mean for that society's future development, especially considering a world where rapid evolution of generally symbiotic non-human creatures is possible? And why, in this peaceful and low-scarcity world, are there so many insane doomsday death cults essentially seeking to usher in the apocalypse?
There are two works of literature that particularly influenced the direction of my idea for a Pokemon fanfic. The first is Eyeless in Gaza (unfortunately topical title) by Aldous Huxley of Brave New World fame. Gaza is a mostly autobiographical story touching on a variety of topics, and one chapter near its end involves the main character traveling to Central America, where he meets a strange, idealistic man named Dr. Miller. Dr. Miller espouses many ideas about anthropology, especially ones critical of or antithetical to British imperialist pseudo-scientific anthropology: "An anthropologist is a person who studies men," he says, "but you prefer to deal with bugs. I'd call you an entomologist [...] the only remedy is for the bug-hunter to throw his bayonets away and treat the bugs as though they were human beings." But the most interesting thing he talks about, the thing that has stuck with me more than anything else in the otherwise mediocre novel, is soccer.
"But [football is] the greatest English contribution to civilization," said the doctor. "Much more important than parliamentary government, or steam engines, or Newton's Principia. More important even than English poetry. Poetry can never be a substitute for war and murder. Whereas games can be. A complete and genuine substitute."
Dr. Miller envisions a world where competitive sports replace the destructive and combative elements of humanity; he teaches soccer to small Mexican tribes as a way to settle their differences instead of war. What does a utopian society look like that has replaced conflict with competitive sport at a grand, worldwide scale? In our world, the Olympics are often spoken of in similar terms, but Pokemon appears to have actually accomplished this lofty goal, to the point that becoming a trainer at 10 is more important than standard education. By setting my fanfic at a prestigious, global tournament, I become perfectly posed to explore this question...
The other point of inspiration comes from Underground, Haruki Murakami's nonfiction account of the 1995 Tokyo sarin gas attacks committed by the cult Aum Shinrikyo. The book contains numerous interviews with both survivors of the attacks themselves and former members of the cult, and ends with Murakami's essay on how the Japanese social psyche allowed this event to occur. Describing the cult members he interviewed, he says:
To all of them I posed the same question, that is, whether they regretted having joined Aum. Almost everyone answered: "No, I have no regrets. I don't think those years were wasted." Why is that? The answer is simple—because in Aum they found a purity of purpose they could not find in ordinary society.
This idea of "purity of purpose unfound in ordinary society," what does that mean in a society like Pokemon's? In a utopian society, where nearly all needs are met? Where sports replaces conflict?
Anyway, I've started to veer off topic, so I'll cut it short there. I'm incredibly excited for this project, so I hope all of you decide to give it a read when I finish!
