i also don't think he's the biggest fan of studying alone either so he'll always rope in a classmate or two so it's not so quiet

i actually think mysta would make a huge contribution tho despite his lack of skills in the department when it comes to group projects

what i mean here is that he's always hands down to help however he can, especially the more physical and tedious workload

like needing to print papers, looking for as much material needed for the project or setting up the contents into a powerpoint

i still think that counts as a lot of work <3

professors know him because he frequents them for tutoring sessions, so it's safe to say that mysta is super close with all his lecturers-

but that's not a bad thing at all!

in fact, without mysta rly realizing, this has become his benefit. with most of the teachers aware that he is struggling in his classes, they tend to grade him based on his efforts more than the results of a test

so even if he thinks he's falling behind, ask his professors and they will say the exact opposite!

for school activities, i would say mysta would like to join the sports club as long as his classes don't take up too much of his time

he wants to be able to stay active instead of sitting down and studying all day, plus he gets to meet a lot people and actually where he met the super popular kaneshiro kid!

part time jobs is also something mysta could commit himself to, especially if it meant helping out with student loans

but you never fail to patiently get mysta to work on the ones that need more thinking, even if you have to guide him

for once, mysta knew what the assignment was about this time, due to your composure during work

after that, he may or may not have braved himself to be in one group with you a lot more

it's just that people tend to just give up on him but there you were, staying up late with him just so he could get some material down for an upcoming test

when you fell asleep, mysta let the words of falling for you slip

final project weeks were the same. lots of staying up late together (mostly bcs of mysta) and checking each other's work.

he took me a while to figure out what major best fit him (disclaimer: i swear i've heard him mention what major he took but my tiny brain forgot what it was and from what stream ;-;)

sooo i think it's most likely business since he is in the mafia

the skills could be super useful if he's going to need some extra funds for his syndicate

he'll take only a bachelor's degree because he wants to focus on his mafia work as soon as college finishes

luca is most obviously the jock of the school and one of the more popular students because of his extroverted nature

tbh tho his grades aren't too great??? let's say average :D

he's more like the guy who's looking for the fun of college instead of actually getting the education-

because of this, a lot of people like to hang around him. sometimes students who have super good grades can be a bit unapproachable, ofc not because of the students themselves, but others tend to not feel relatable to someone who does very well in academics

Late Arrival chapter 3 was incredible ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!

With the way it went, I was expecting Cyno to be the one to have the anxiety attack at the prospect of going to the bimarstan, but then I was like "oh no, wait, Tighnari is the one getting the symptoms here!" Which I honestly love, because JUST IMAGINE THE STRESS HE'S UNDER! I truly thought Cyno was out of the woods after chapter 2, of course Tighnari also thought so, so Cyno suddenly getting sick again would of course freak him out. It's so much pressure on his shoulders, because essentially if things go south, Cyno's life is in his hands. And as he stresses in the chapter, he's not a doctor, he doesn't 100% trust his own judgement, but taking Cyno in would cause so much stress and- argh! The whole situation was just BAD, I completely understand why Tighnari crumbled under that pressure. He deserves some good, GOOD rest after all this, the poor boy 😭

I also just. I love the start. Cyno waking Tighnari up, and his little "I need to throw up." I loved that so much ahh!

Now I gotta sit down at some point and reread all three chapters as one!

I wish I knew how to write fluff because I feel like this story deserves a wholesome little epilogue where they both get some good rest in. I just. Have no idea what to do with a fic when the angst is gone lmao but I imagine they get lots of cuddles and perhaps have a friendly guest or two *cough cough* Kaveh and maybe Alhaitham *cough cough* come by to check in and make them both food. I like the idea of someone demanding Tighnari rest and he does but he gets really bossy. Like "You told me not to do anything so now you have to do all of it for me" >:)

Gallifrey Relisten: Lies

In the chaos of.....all of November....totally forgot I meant to relisten to this episode sooner! Which is odd because Series 2 is definitely one of the high points of Gallifrey for me (apparently listening to everything slowly collapse into the civil war is super engaging and interesting? idk Series 2 just does a lot of solid character work and storytelling and good narrative progression to the “ahhh everything is very bad” finale...and I’m not sure how to feel about this, given *gestures at the world these days*). But anyways, now for some thoughts on the series opener:

Fun fact: From the TV show alone, Romana I was my favorite. (This had something to do with her having more character growth in season 16 than season 17, since her early days on the TARDIS involve the “wait my academic success does not necessarily translate to the real world” realization and learning about worlds and people different from her own and growing from High-Achieving Student to Adventurer in her own right. Also I loved the grudgingly-working-together to actual-friends arc with her and the Doctor. I was a bit less interested in her character when she was just going around being a capable adventurer, although I did become invested in Romana II in her last episodes, as she quietly grapples with the issue of what she wants to do next in life and eventually chooses to go off on her own. Also to be fair, I appreciate the fun times of Season 17 a lot more now because Romana being happy and having a good time traveling around the universe? What a concept.) 

All this to say: me on my first listen of Gallifrey was very excited about Romana I being in this episode. And even though it’s not quite as much of a !!!!! thing for me these days (the Gallifrey audios have long since solidified Romana II as my favorite), I do love the (sort of) multi-Romana interaction that happens in this one.

Brax essentially going “yeah the education system is supposed to be shitty and take an emotional toll on you” sir.

“I am not xenophobic” — Oh yeah, this scene is Narvin at his most unlikeable. “I’m not being bigoted, I’m just trying to protect Gallifrey, the fact that I assume that people who aren’t from here inherently can’t be trusted, and also go on about how they’re too loud and disruptive and don’t belong is definitely not a bigoted worldview nope.” Yikes. Very glad he’s going to see the error of his ways. 

The Narvin and Darkel rant session does actually do a good job at explaining what’s been happening and establishing the primary conflict of the series while not feeling like it exists solely to be an info dump to catch up the listener. Like, it’s definitely a setup scene, but it is an interesting setup scene. 

“But she is my President, and it’s my job to ensure that she gets what she wants and needs, efficiently and without question. Well, too many questions anyway.” Okay this moment and Darkel and Wynter’s conversation later about Narvin’s weakness (“Loyalty. An unswerving loyalty to his office and his precious CIA. And above all, loyalty to his president.” “He despises President Romana!” “Oh yes, of course. But it’s the position, not the person, he places that trust in.”) are really setting up some key Narvin Character Theses that we’re going to see play out this series (and also that the narrative is going to push in really interesting ways later on..... “position not the person”.....just you wait....) 

Darkel and Narvin being indignant that Romana changed the law is just....hilarious in a kind of horrifying way? Oh no, the President worked with the legislative body to actually get a law passed. The horror.

“She has a temper. And a very long memory.” This is definitely about the CIA trying to overthrow her in Neverland but uhhh also it’s about Etra Prime and the Powers That Be on Gallifrey never making a serious effort to save her (at least from her perspective). 

Yeah Darkel as antagonist is a bit abrupt (not that I particularly mind, she’s a good enough “love to hate” character that her not being set up as an antagonist from Series 1 doesn’t really bother me). But yeah, not sure what was going on behind the scenes, but it doesn’t seem like in Series 1 the plan was for her to be the primary Series 2-3 antagonist.  

Darkel to Narvin: “You will let me know when you’ve decided.” Ooh yeah, this moment is quite a good setup of Narvin’s arc throughout this series — he has to decide where his loyalties truly lie. 

Wynter is really interesting as far as character dynamics go, because he breaks the whole “Romana and Leela are the youngest people in the room” vibe — and it is just really interesting to see Romana interacting with this quite young Time Lord and specifically compare/contrasting it to how she interacts with young Time Lords in the later series when she’s older and a bit more emotionally mature and has more of the “mentor figure” vibes. (There isn’t really a conclusion to this thought, it’s more of a “huh, I’m thinking about this now” thing.)

“It’s been seven weeks, Andred. It’s hardly a lifetime.” Romana: please you have not been in a cell for that long, calm down.

“I thought you two were friends.” “A president of the High Council of Gallifrey cannot allow herself the luxury of friends.” Ahhhh, where it begins!! I’m extremely weak for the arc of Romana opening herself up to friendship and love, what of it. 

Honestly, Andred’s politics have always been very confusing to me? And it probably doesn’t help that the show is all “he’s fully Andred now” but also “he lived as Torvald a long time and that’s still influencing him.” Like both of those things can be true, but it’s a bit unclear what Andred’s true priorities and motivations really are right then — and honestly, it just comes off like his primarily desire is to be useful to someone, and be granted some form of autonomy/power/respect in return (aka he doesn’t have any real clear principles that are motivating him). Also complaining about Romana opening Gallifrey up to aliens is such a bad look dude. 

Romana to Andred: “I control your future. I control whether you have one.” Umm???? The foreshadowing?????

Andred, no. Andred, the free time pun was too much.

“I wish I had databanks. With a flick of a switch I could turn myself off, become unaware of all that has happened.” Leela ahhhhhhhhhh. (The desire to give Leela all the hugs and emotional support is very very high throughout these next couple seasons especially.....her mental health is in such a rough place ahhhh.) 

Andred regenerated “nearly six months ago” and it’s been six and a half (or seven, depending on which character is speaking) weeks since A Blind Eye, which took place an unspecified amount of time after The Inquiry, which took place two weeks after Square One...(don’t mind me, just taking some notes on the timeline math...) 

I believe a couple times in the Gallifrey audios, they reference the position of “Vice President,” which is very weird because that doesn’t seem to be a position that exists?? Chancellor is definitely seen as the #2 spot?? Idk what’s going on here. 

“You are appreciated, highly regarded, and were I to lose you I would be...disappointed.” Romana, you started strong and then you got a bit emotionally repressed there. 

“Torvald was a fool, but he was my fool.” .....I am not saying anything.....I will not be commenting on the Narvin and Andred scene......I just.......you know. There are some fics you cannot unread. 

Romana does really trust Brax here, doesn’t she. And she really doesn’t trust easily post-Etra Prime, so this is a big deal — making it all the rougher when she (in the short term) finds out he meddled with her memories and (in the long term) has to deal with him doing things like temporarily betraying her for the greater good of protecting her while not explaining at all what’s really going on. 

Okay, yes the whole pearl-clutching about Romana changing the laws is kinda silly and horrifying in a “how dysfunctional is your society if passing one (1) law is drastic change??” way, but also the flip side of this, aka “we thought these things were entrenched as norms in our society and would not change and then here comes along one president who’s trying to undo all of these things and threaten the whole system”.....y’all that hits differently now in the month November in the year 2020. In the Gallifrey audios the context is different — they are for sure overreacting to Romana’s very mild idea of “perhaps....we could change some things about society” but the way they talk about her political changes in the episode — feels a bit too close to home!

Romana’s voice right when she sees Leela....she missed her.....

Pandora being the “first female president” is a very weird and very unnecessary bit of misogyny? Ah yes, we must specify that this ancient president of Gallifrey who was wildly power-hungry and cruel and went too far and almost ruined everything Gallifrey had built was a woman?? Why was that bit of dialogue needed?? Tbh early Gallifrey does have a problem in general with characters played by women tending to be power-hungry....which is partly down to the fact that they have so so few women in the cast in general, it’s Romana, Leela, and Villains, mostly. (The lack of women in the supporting cast in early Gallifrey is going to be an ongoing complaint.) 

“You should not be afraid of your feelings, K9.” / “Yes, thank you, if we can move on from the emotional support group session.” Pffffff

I do choose to ignore the implication that Romana returned to Gallifrey and became President because of the subconscious influence of Pandora/the Imperiatrix Imprimatur nudging her towards power. Tbh it’s simply not interesting to me to have such a pivotal character choice reduced to genetic/subconscious manipulation. Yes, Romana ended her TV run insisting she didn’t want to go back to Gallifrey (and even staying in another universe to avoid it), and yes, it creates this initial emotional dissonance suddenly jumping to stories where she’s President of Gallifrey. But I already did the headcanon work before I jumped into Big Finish to make it work for me, I didn’t need this weirdness.

Elaborating on this a bit more: There is something interesting to me about a person who left home and slowly ended up rejecting the narrow worldview she grew up with, cutting herself free from the place she was born — and then eventually choosing to return because she genuinely wanted to make that messed-up world better and believed she could. And it also creates a really interesting contrast with the Doctor: two Time Lords who came to realize that Gallifrey was pretty terrible actually, and one of them kept running away from it and rejecting Time Lord society, and the other came back and said maybe I can change things. Because both are understandable and complicated reactions to have to a messed-up home world, and there are different ways of trying to do good. And regardless of how her choices turned out, I always liked the idea that it was Romana’s own choice that brought her to Gallifrey again, and I don’t think Pandora needed to be shoehorned in to explain her actions.  

Okay, I want to hear the follow up where Leela insists Romana tell the whole Key to Time story after hearing all of these random out of context bits and pieces. 

Why does Brax admit to breaking the Laws of Time? The fact that he’s in contact with his past/future selves isn’t actually relevant to what he needs to tell Narvin? He literally could have just said that he hypnotized Romana, without mentioning that it was his future self who did it? (Also, it’s implied in this one that he pushes for Romana to use the mind wipe on Narvin because he wants the memory of that reveal erased, but somehow that’s the one thing that Narvin keeps because he uses that information against Brax later? Aka: how did Narvin remember that Brax told him this?)  

And final thought: general internal monologue during this episode is just: Pandora arc Pandora arc Pandora arc here we go!! Because the Lies through Warfare run is really one of the more interesting bits of Gallifrey for me (Imperiatrix specifically ranks very high on my favorite episodes list), and I’m excited to be re-listening to/thinking about/hearing other people talk about these episodes!

Prediction for this episode; REMUS TIME! That's it, that's my prediction. 

Okay, and Janus is going to be involved this time (see previous post). Not sure of the status of Virgil and Patton's relationship…Let's see, Roman was really confident and relaxed in the first Asides, so I'm placing the Distractions episode in like early season three, if not in between two and three, so I'm prepared for it to be more volatile. Okay! Thumbnail impressions. 

Oh my gosh I love everything about it. First of all, anxiety! That means Anxiety! And there's Virgil. And! The little, cartoony, uh, definitely Virgil and Roman, and I'm not sure who the middle boy is. Is that Logan? I don't see a tie, maybe it's Patton. Although, is that a beard?? But the subtitle!!!!! That's amazing. I feel like I know that style. Bed In The Morning artist? Gosh, I'm in love with this already. 

Oh, flirting, not like flirting with the idea of social anxiety, like, 'how do I flirt when I have social anxiety?' Okay okay. Roman's face in the thumbnail, oh my gosh. Also, can I just point out that last time the team was like "Haha, yeah, the Asides were only supposed to be ten minutes, they'll be shorter next time."

Flirt or Fight, ahhhhhhhhhh. Haha, yeah. That's really not a big deal. Hey! As someone on the other side of the counter, we do that stuff, too. I ask "Anything else?" a lot, and then once customer responded, "No, that's it, thanks." So of course I said "You're welcome, may I get you anything else?" And it took me three seconds to realize.

This was not an isolated incident. I do it so often. Anyway. R+, senior, haha. PFFFT, Roman. Oh, the senior was an intentional thing, not just a joke. And look! They agree!! "He's in his 30s, he might as well be 60." I'm going to be quoting that so often. 

NEW SCENARIO! Thirty times a day again. HAHAHA, I love Roman. Omg, I love all this. "I'm not stinky." Oh, hm. A lot of liar accusations. I wonder where in the series this Asides takes place… Suddenly flirt mode activated. "We don't know that he's not gay." Point for Roman. OH that's the glasses and beard guy. Okay cool. Ooooooh, that last sticker. AND I got that Blink-182 reference. Nice! More introvert clues. Roman's old jokes are great. Sticker button system. Pintrovert, nice. Commentating! "Now I'm telling you you're being a freak!" Ha, Jack-y. I love their banter, IT'S THE MILLENNIUM PUZZLE AHH, oh cool, and there's gay. Their very different reactions to this is also fascinating. Boiled...mayo carrots? 96, because table 69 would've been too obvious a joke…………. But it would've been Remus-y. Roman. With an R. Gay eyes? Oh I'm so glad that Virgil asked, I wasn't sure if that was actually a thing. RIP the artists having to animate gay eyes. 

I just. He looks so much like Picani. Oh, no, he looked behind himself! The You Failed voice is excellent. Haha, nah, I was just panicking. I… call bs on that actually being a lie. Yeah that just means he likes basketball. Oh man. This. Oh. No. No, this is not ending well. Gerard Gay. HA, yes, Thomas apparently. Forget pulling his heartstrings, they're pulling his arms. 

THOMAS, NO, YOU DID NOT JUST WRITE ROMAN THE LINE "I'll add it to the list" oh my gosh, how could you???? Okay, I laughed way too hard at "I 'unno. Plant!" Oh this is definitely going to end in disaster. PFFTAHAHA what is that awkward Irish accent? But that ""buddy"" is totally Joan. Yeah, 100% that's them. "Search for treasure for good measure." Sigh, that's the only Remus content I'm getting this episode, isn't it. Sty??? Yes, hide in the garbage, perfect. 

You need a game plan for flirting? *shrugs in awkward* Bird puns, pretty tweet. Haha, cyber stalking in real life. Can't he just casually walk by, and casually notice a pin? I legit thought Roman was going to stop at "You're going to have to try… speaking." From the heart? "Hey, you're cute and I'm gay, plus your backpack says that you are, too?" I'm so concerned that the bathroom stall is gonna open now. 

Oh it's getting sad. And Roman's so sad, no. Oh this is real close to the end of POF. This might be a little much, tbh. OMFG. Who is that? Oh no, oh no, ohhhhhhhh nooooooooo. Omfg. I didn't wanna ruin the moment. "Yeah, I gotta stop wooing strangers in bathrooms." I MEAN, YEAH, RUDE, THOMAS! Oh boy they're going in strong on the lying thing. It's still so fresh, but Virgil's okay with Thomas, so? WOAH man. Was this before DWIT? Virgil said deceit, but did he say deceit or Deceit? That's some faux-concern there. Or should I say...foe concern. Oh boy that turned quickly. Maybe Patton's acceptance of Janus is why Virgil's all stiff with Patton in Distractions? I mean that's been theorized anyway, but

"Shut up." "Shut up!" SHUT UP! Virgil helped!!! And Roman's so sad and I'm teary and bravery!!!!! Ugh, I'm taking a moment. Oh there was that thing that Joan wrote that Thomas was really excited about. The soliloquy in the bathroom maybe? Nico's trash metaphor? 

Ahhhhhh, omfg I'm wheezing. Old. It's funny that he referred to Thomas in third person. Like. Interesting funny. What! It's Janus's theme!!!! Oh. WHAT.  What Janus's collection what. Corridor of stored rewards aauuuugh. Love that font, btw. And the J especially! EXCUSE YOU I JUST SAW MY BOY SMASH A PLATE OVER HIS HEAD but like in front of a blue screen so that's new content, shut up. Oh no commentary, I love commentary. Ahhhh, this was really cute, I can see the importance, I don't know where it is within the episodes, but yeah, it'd have been hard to do live action. Patreon. Maybe one day. But some very sad and concerning things! I am concerned. 

The animation was so good! I hope they told the artists to do it transparent if they needed it transparent. But! Really! So good! I know there were three different artists, and if I looked for it, I can kind of see some stylistic differences sometimes, but for the most part, I can't! They all managed to go into one style near flawlessly, it's amazing. They were incredible. 

The prinxiety is going to be flowing out of this fandom, man. Also, unrelated, but I demand more stupid idiot Thomas in fics! I get that we respect him and want the best for him, but we're missing a huge opportunity! Look at this disaster! Look at this awkward dumb dork, the boy can barely function at times! So much potential!

SO uh @blacktofade​ had a craving for shyanara and uh, specifically, ryan being loved and taken care of, and i had approximately a million ideas about that. i also had most of these written from planning a different fic that went a whole other direction. so here is some not-actually-fic i threw together, enjoy!!

(warnings: mentions of breakups. alcohol. brief sex mention.)

-the night the big blowout happens, late march, ryan leaves the apartment because he doesn’t know what else to do. for a while he sits in his car to gather his thoughts, but then he keeps looking up and seeing the light on in the apartment. knowing she’s up there, and knowing she doesn’t want him anymore— fuck, it’s the worst feeling in the world, so he turns the key in the engine and starts driving

-somehow, he ends up outside shane and sara’s complex

-he could have gone anywhere but he came here, because he needs... something

-shane opens the door and takes one look at ryan and he knows (because he knows ryan’s relationship has been on the rocks for a while now. he just opens the door wider to let ryan in)

-sara’s in the kitchen, about to open a bottle of wine. when she sees ryan, she stops, and she pulls out some whiskey instead (it’s leftover from christmas, and now she’s glad she didn’t throw it away)

-ryan doesn’t say anything, just sits on the couch with them while they watch some youtube stuff and maybe some netflix. eventually shane puts his arm around ryan and squeezes when he notices him shaking just a little bit

-sara has to go to bed, because she’s working in the morning, but she wakes again near 2am and she can hear them in the sitting room, talking, ryan crying sometimes, and it makes her so mad, so upset. she wants him to stop hurting, and she knows it’s going to take a long time for him to get better after this, but she also knows she and shane are going to do their best to help whatever way they can

-shane comes to bed when the sun is coming up, cuddles into sara for the hour before her alarm goes off and thinks about how lucky he is to have her

-ryan is asleep on the couch when sara gets up for work, blanket draped over him, glasses on the coffee table. she almost wants to go over there, touch his hair, kiss his forehead. she doesn’t

-that afternoon shane takes ryan and drives over to scott’s to pick up the twin bed he’s been trying to pawn off on shane for months now. when they get the pieces of the frame loaded into the car, ryan asks "what’s that for?” and shane says “for you, buddy,” and ryan looks like he’s about to cry again so shane just hugs him and says “if you need it.”

-they go to ryan’s apartment when there’s no one home and pack some of his things. it’s already looking strange and empty. no one is being forced out, there’s just too many memories for either of them to stay there

-he stays at sara and shane’s, slowly emptying out the old apartment into boxes that just get stacked up in what used to be sara’s office

-ryan feels so guilty about taking up her space, and she swears it’s fine, but he tells her that she can use it anyway while he’s out for the day

-sara wants to be able to give him privacy and his own space, but there’s also something really nice about working in there, surrounded by ryan’s things and the scent of his aftershave mixed with shane’s

-some nights the three of them curl up together on the sofa to watch movies, and shane gets too sleepy off the wine and slinks off to bed early

-sara doesn’t come to bed

-in the middle of the night shane finds ryan and sara snuggled up on the couch, empty wine bottles tucked down the side of the cushions. he drapes a blanket over them and leaves them some water for the morning

-they looks cute together but he doesn’t think too hard about it, because it makes his stomach feel funny

-shane and sara have date nights on a wednesday, they go out for dinner and whatever else takes their fancy

-usually they come back early-ish in the evening and just join ryan for some video games or tv, sometimes it’s later and they’re tipsy and giggly and want to talk until all hours. it’s rare that they come home so late that ryan’s already in bed, but it happens sometimes. he still hears them come in though, the walls in the apartment are thin enough

-they’re usually pretty quiet when they have sex and ryan’s used to having roommates from back in college. they’re all adults here, it doesn’t really bother him. sometimes he hears them laughing and that’s when he feels his own loneliness the most intensely. he misses a body next to him in bed

-one night, however, they're louder than usual

-they’d been dressed up even nicer than usual when leaving the house, came back drunk and clumsy. he hears sara falling out of her shoes in the hallway and shane laughing as he scoops her up. there’s a thump outside ryan’s bedroom door as someone careens into the wall, and sara hisses “shhh we’ll wake him”

-ryan rolls over, sticks his head under the pillow and tries to sleep, but he can hear them, and now he’s wide awake, and hard too because his stupid dick doesn’t know how to chill the fuck out (and also, he hasn’t gotten laid in. a long time. since months before the break up)

-but, god, sara sounds so fucking pretty and he’s gonna think about it for months to come (heh), he just knows it

-shane and sara are very hungover in the morning, but they’re glowing and happy, and sara shyly tells ryan it’s their anniversary. ryan kind of wants to cry

-he’s always looking for an apartment to move into but he’s not sure if he can afford something on his own and it’s so hard to find a roommate who isn’t a freak. he pays a portion of sara and shane’s rent, and he’s tidy, and they’re not complaining for the time being

-ryan’s pretty handy to have around too, likes tinkering with things and fixing things — and there are a lot of gadgets in the apartment that need fixing. ryan repairs a wobbly light switch in sara’s closet and she’s so pleased with him that he starts messing with other things, like shane’s speakers and maybe sara’s favorite fairy-lights in the bedroom, and their old slightly-broken coffee-maker

-shane looks so impressed when the coffee maker works for the first time in months, and even ruffles ryan’s hair a little about it

-he can’t fix all the broken things in the apartment (because he’s kind of scared of the landlord), but he really, really wishes he could

-towards the end of july ryan gets one of those ridiculous middle-of-summer viruses, and he’s burning up a fever. on the worst day, shane has to go into the office to talk about unsolved (because ryan’s sick and can’t be there for the meeting, at least one of them has to be) so sara stays home for the day to keep and eye on him. she makes him her mother’s soup, and watches him eat carefully while he’s all wrapped up in blankets and a little sweaty. sara lets herself pet his hair this time, kisses his forehead when he falls asleep as she tidies up

-half asleep and delirious, ryan says “thanks baby,” when she tucks him in, so she kisses him again, on the cheek this time

-when he wakes up in the evening he’s feeling much better, having sweated out most of his fever. sara sends him into the shower and orders his favourite thai food for dinner, and then shane arrives home too

-ryan gets out of the shower and dresses in the coziest clothes he can find. he walks out in sweatpants that are far too long, rolled up around the ankle, and shane does a double take, but he doesn’t say anything, just smiles and pats the couch cushion next to him for ryan to come join him

-clothes sharing becomes a free for all

-sara goes to work in ryan’s giant orange hoodie when the weather starts getting cooler (she still has to take it off in the middle of the day because it’s too warm, but in the morning and evening she’s grateful to stay toasty. plus, it smells good)

-shane and ryan wear pretty much the same size t-shirt (medium, they just fit a little differently on shane’s shoulders and ryan’s chest) so everything gets thrown in together

-on a wednesday night, shane asks if ryan wants to see a movie and ryan says yes without thinking. it isn’t until he’s sitting on sara’s left, shane on her right, that he realises it’s wednesday my dudes ahhhhhhhhhh

-he spends the whole night feeling guilty about it until they get home, and sara’s like “what’s eating ya, ry guy?" while taking off her jacket and ryan’s looking at her pretty dress, thinking about how she still dressed like it was a date night.

-ryan may have also dressed nicely for the occasion, without a second thought. he’s definitely second guessing it now

-he admits why he was acting weird, and shane’s like “hey man, we wouldn’t have asked you out if we didn’t want you there” and sara takes ryan’s hand and says “we promise, you’re never third wheeling with us” and shane makes some dumb joke about three wheels being sturdier than two and sara’s like “speaking of wheels, i know we just ate but i gotta order donuts” and that’s that

-they keep doing dinner and movies on a wednesday night

-ryan realizes he’s so much more deeply intwined in their daily routine than he ever thought. they have a groupchat where they decide what to have for dinner. they have a laundry rota (and ryan’s seen all of sara’s delicates, she doesn’t even care), even obi knows when it’s ryan’s turn to feed him

-speaking of obi, ryan’s allergies are a lot less severe now thanks to exposure. he even maybe loves the lil orange dude now

-one day shane catches ryan looking at apartment listings and he’s like “actually we wanted to talk to you about something”

-sara comes in and sits down too, and it’s all very serious, and ryan has this pit in his stomach and doesn’t know why until sara says “our lease will be up soon and this place is falling apart, we were thinking of looking for a bigger place, like a house maybe”

-ryan is thinking, ah, it was nice while it lasted, right until shane says “maybe with a pool, i know you’d love that”

-ryan’s brain does a record scratch

-he’s like “y-yeah, i would. i would love that”

-sara’s looking at him kind of funny, puts her hand over his and says “but we have a dilemma here, maybe we can sort this out now”

-ryan is still frozen. shane and sara are both looking at him, both looking nervous, and it feels like Too Much Attention

-shane says “hypothetically, if you were living with a couple who you also knew wanted to date you, would that be weird for you?”

-ryan’s like ?!!??!?!?!???? but manages a relatively chill “hypothetically?”

-sara sighs and spills the beans like “we’re asking you now, so you don’t get trapped. if you want to find an apartment for yourself, that’s fine. if you want to keep living with us that’s even better. we just want to lay everything down on the table so that you can make an informed decision”

-ryan must sit there for like, thirty seconds in silence. he can see sara getting antsy and anxious but he can’t make his brain work any faster

-“you guys are a couple”

-shane says, “ideally we wanna be a throuple,” and sara smacks him in the arm and hisses “shane” at him, and ryan just starts laughing, still has his hand in sara’s as he covers his stupid grinning mouth with the other

-“i— i’ve never dated two people at once”

-sara squeezes his hand and says “it’s ok we’ll take it slow”

-shane says “well. as slow as moving into a house together can be considered”

-and when ryan thinks about it, he can’t imagine this happening any other way. sara and shane were the ones he went to when he needed comfort the most. he didn’t even have to think about it, he just ended up at their door, knowing he’d be welcome

-it might have taken a them a slightly convoluted journey to get where they are, but ryan wouldn’t have done it any other way

-he’s really excited about the pool

It’s basically about Ye Xiu (Yang Yang) who plays professional esports is like the biggest and best player on a MMORPG game called Glory. However he resigns from his team (the manager replaces him as captain) and it’s about him rising back to claim back his crown using a new character and a weapon his best friend created (I think his best friend is dead but idk I’m only 11 episodes in out of 40) bUT his best friend’s sister was on his old team with him and it’s not romance I don’t think but THEYRE SO CUTE TOGETHER AHHHHHHHHHH I’m highkey thinking of writing a fic based on it
