Having been handed a manuscript, Ray Marlowe was giving it a dubious lookover when he stumbled across a certain passage and looked up from the book to squint at the one who'd given it to him.

"Assassins are evil in alignment (perforce, as the killing of humans and other intelligent life for the purpose of profit is basically held to be the antithesis of weal)."

"Urianger, my buddy. My pal. I kill humans and other intelligent life for purposes of profit all the time; it's half of what being an adventurer is. The other half is just archaeology where the bones try and kill you."

Urianger stroked his chin. "I suppose that was written when I was much younger and had more preconceived notions about the role of adventurers as compared to hired killers. i imagined them as much more like the gleaners, by trade."

Ray went back to reading "So this is a game you wrote back in the day, huh? About pretending to be wizards and assassins and knights and so on, instead of just actually being one. Interesting. Did you put in job stones so people could switch up if no one made a character for a particular party role, or would they just have to make a new...persona?"

Urianger shook his head. "I...had not considered that possibility." He reached for the manuscript. "Perhaps it is time for some revisions."

Ray offered it up, after flipping a few more pages. "Might not be a bad idea, but if you do, I'd definitely look into an editor, because, uh, that one sentence is the antithesis of weal all by itself."

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? Keeper -- a short comic about an angel meeting a robotic lighthouse keeper that doesn't know the world has already ended. Made in about 18 hours for a 24-hour 24-page* black and white comic challenge (that I arrived late to, ha.)

*the actual submission does not include the cover, which was created after the fact for this post.

This was a really great learning experience as someone who's... never really made a completed comic. I ended up really attached to the story by the end of the project (possibly due to all-nighter deliriousness lol) and ultimately am very proud of what I made.There are some things I'd still like to change, particularly text placement, but in keeping with the spirit of the challenge I've elected to leave it as is.
