genderfluid jekyll & hyde dubcon au idea:
Will starts a physical affair / FWB thing with (what he thinks is) Hannibal's sister (Hanne?), whom he meets outside Hannibal's office and who seems extremely attracted to Will from the get-go.
the Plot twist: Hannibal doesn't have a sister.
Hannibal can turn into a woman at will.

already having to relive the Octavian/Luke comparisons and i think i may in fact spontaneously combust.
the blatant misremembering of Octavians character simply because readers just went along with whatever the main cast thought is honestly a little bit infuriating. he's the most spectrum coded character in HoO and most of his actions up until he is literally *brainwashed by Gaea* are justifiable.
"b-but he destroyed Percy's pillow pet comfort item!!" okay, maybe think about how he has to do this with his own comfort items every day? it's literally his job and it's very likely that nobody has ever gotten upset with him over it before. and *Reyna told him to do this* so why are we mad at octavian if it was an order from the praetor to do an augur thing and the easiest way to do that was with an item that had a connection to Percy?
i will also never get over the banquet scene at the beginning of MoA. Octavian literally does nothing wrong here but the characters decide that they just really want to make him the butt of every joke simply because they find him 'annoying'.
after Reyna does the toast and Jason is recounting their rescue of Hera/Juno, Octavian interrupts him in an exclamation of disbelief that they hadn't noticed that the queen of the gods had been imprisoned in a location that was very important to the romans. is interrupting rude? yes, but he obviously seems distraught over the fact that Juno was unknowingly imprisoned. instead of politely explaining the full extent of the situation, what does Piper do? immediately use charmspeak on him.
next, when Percy praises Jason's skills ("No wonder they made you praetor."), Octavian immediately brings up the fact that they have three praetors now that Jason has returned. this is really important, especially from his perspective since he's such a stickler for rules and regulations. Percy decides to immediately abtagonize him, and then completely dismiss his frustration over Percy choosing to step aside for Jason. Octavian has every right to be offended over this, even if it's not necessarily the most correct time to bring it up. Percy antagonizes him, and then basically blatantly insults him by treating the position he's worked his entire life for as if it's nothing important.
after that, Reyna has Octavian recite the great prophecy, ignoring his hesitancy (that is entirely warranted considering greece and rome have been at war for literal millenia). when Annabeth recites the last two lines of the prophecy and Frank brings up her parentage, Octavian has a right to be skeptical. in rome, Minerva isnt even a war goddess, and doesn't have children. without understanding how the gods operate in their seperate forms, it's reasonable, considering they arrived in a war ship, are being lead by a child of a war goddess that they are wholly unfamilliar with in more ways than most of the other major gods, and are, in fact, greek, to be suspicious of the groups intentions.
when Annabeth and Percy list the seven demigods they believe should go on the quest, Octavian is again rightfully upset. There are rules and procedures that are being completely ignored, and by visitors that are already suspicious to him and have made it very clear that they do not care about his opinion, even though he's on the senate and *the fucking augur.* he is once again interrupted, but this time by the book itself as Tyson shows up.
Ella then recites the 'mark of Athena' prophecy, which Octavian *once again* has every right to know about. prophecies are his job, and his entire *personality* as far as camp jupiter is concerned. i understand that it basically says 'Annabeth will destroy rome' but her secrecy in regards to the quest her mother gave her has never once made sense and is not justified in any way. instead of even saying something simple along the lines of 'Athena made me swear to secrecy', Percy for some reason is made to be the character that needs rescuing (in a situation that has nothing to do with him) and Annabeth takes the opportunity to make Octavian into the fool in front of all of his peers. it feels even worse later on when Annabeth and Reyna discuss the prophecy but only to agree that it even *is* one, and for no purpose beyond that for several paragraphs.
THEN when Leo offers a tour of the Argo II to Octavian and Reyna *once again* dismisses his suspicions, she winds up partly to blame for the resulting attack, as well as Leo for never telling anyone about gaea, and Annabeth for not saying anything when she noticed Leo was acting off. when Gaea attacks CJ and Octavian relays to Annabeth that he saw Leo open fire on the city, she assumes he's pulling some trick to get them to fight each other. she had known him for all of maybe a few hours and for some reason, watching her friends and boyfriend openly bully him has convinced her that he could be evil?
mind you, all of the above events happened over the course of *two* chapters, both of which are from the perspective of Annabeth who had only just met Octavian.
he only really began doing things you could consider 'evil' once gaea had fullt brainwashed him and driven him mad. and even then, he gets a fucking joke death?? as the only character up to this point that i was ever able to identify with on an ASD level, that feels really shitty! and the fact that the fandom just jumped on the Octavian hate train really drives home how people cannot handle spectrum coding/writing/*people* unless its presented in a cutesie helpless way.
but back to the original point of Octavian being compared to Luke; Luke was scheming the *entire* time we knew him. He did not want to protect his home, he did not have any real morals or self imposed rules. all he cared about was getting back at Hermes for not showing he cared about him (which is kind of bs considering Hermes is one of the busiest gods in the pantheon but as a fellow neglected kid i get it.) Luke was willing to do this in any way, even if it meant literally destroying the world. Octavian was just trying to keep his home safe in the way that any historical roman would have.
You also kind of have to consider his background. he was left at camp as an unwanted baby. we dont even know if his parents named him or if the camp did. his only identity is that he's a legacy of Apollo with a gift that is incredibly useful to CJ. this, along with his very clear coding (whether intentional on Rick's part or not), only shows me a character that was always unwanted and outcasted from the only place he even could call home. he doesnt want to be praetor for power, he wants to be praetor to prove to everyone (and himself) that he's worthy of being one of them. if he wanted power for the sake of power he could easily use his augur position to manipulate his way up, but never once do we see him attempt this. it doesn't help that he's named after THE Gaius Julius Ceasar Augustus, the man that founded the fucking roman empire in the first place. imagine how that must feel? to have your identity tied to such massive, larger than life people? imagine feeling like you have to live up to that in a place that seemingly fucking hates you for existing and only keeps you around because youre useful??
i really wish people would stop blatantly villainizing Octavian, dudes literally just an 18 year old autistic kid that was victimized by Gaea. give him a break, please.

is it possible for you to expand on the alphabet ‘H’ for yandere!athlete? I’m just curious to see the full extent of his punishment when he ‘snaps’. You don’t have to. This is my first ask so I’m just curious

"I'm not feeling myself today, so it's alright if I feel you instead?"
Trigger Warnings; bad writing, lovesick behavior, manipulation, toxic relationship, love bombing, reader is called 'girlfriend', fake emotional cheating (it'll make more sense later), um I think that's it, pretty tame ngl, honestly it's shorter than my usual posts sorry(( If I missed anything, then please let me know ♡ You are now 🐏!Nonny! Congratulations, you now have your own tag! I hope this is up to your standards... I kind of went on a tiny, just a tiny tangent, but what's new lol
Tumblr media
Okay, ngl, I've been waiting for someone to ask about this, so thank you 🐏!Nonny for asking)))
Now, to the question. I would like to preface that it would be very, very, very difficult to make LoveSick!Athlete 'snap', seeing as he's a very patient person, especially with those he's close to. Growing up, he had to be patient and easygoing. He was the oldest of his siblings, so he had to be responsible; had to step up as a father figure for his younger siblings, as he never had a real dad.
He's very soft with you, always speaking kindly, and never letting his anger or annoyance get a hold of him. He wants to be the best for you, truly, but there are just some things that make people... y'know snap. Even for people like LoveSick!Athlete, who has the patience of a saint.
So, now that we know this, we have to think of a scenario of when and why you'd ever push LoveSick!Athlete over the edge; what would've you said to make him that angry?
It'd probably be something along the lines of questioning either his loyalty to you, or the caliber of his love for you, and how much he provides for you. You'd have to take away his purpose and smush it; dragging it through the mud, and spit on it. Now, that would get him going. There's one thing that LoveSick!Athlete hates, and that's someone who's ungrateful.
He's done so, so, so much for you, can't you see?
It would've started from an argument, likely you bringing up how he seems too receptive to other girls on campus, too willing with their antics. And that just didn't sit right with you. You didn't like your boyfriend, in this scenario, hanging around with girls, who you thought to be very, very, very pretty.
Of course, LoveSick!Athlete thought this to be insane, something he hadn't even thought about. Ever since the two of you started dating, he hasn't even looked at a girl, let alone thought about sleeping with one. How could you even say that?
In this scenario, I can see LoveSick!Athlete being petty and becoming flirtatious with other girls just to show you that his behavior before was nothing. If you thought that was flirtatious, then wait until you see him now. Instead of pushing the girls to the side, excusing himself before they could corner him, now he's looking the girls up and down, giving them a little smirk, leading them on. He might even set a hand on their lower back, leading them through the party, maybe even kiss her on the cheek, if you've been rather ungrateful.
Now, LoveSick!Athlete isn't enjoying this, after all, you're his one and only, but you have to learn your lesson. You have to understand that he's been so kind to you, so appreciative of your relationship. Don't you understand? He doesn't like doing this; it's a punishment.
You, seeing all of this, would obviously be distraught. You'd feel so, so, so betrayed. Where had your sweet, loving boyfriend gone? Why was he replaced by some sleazy womanizer? You'd be both sad and pissed the fuck off. You wanted him to tone it down, not multiply it by one hundred!
No matter what, even if you're angry as hell, you'll end up in LoveSick!Athlete's arms, hugging him tightly. He'll find a way to sweet talk you back to him, telling you that you're his only one, that he's just showing you that it wasn't that bad. He'll explain his public image to you; he's gotta stay on top of it, surely you understand, babe? I have no interest in those girls. They're just thinking with what's between their legs. You have to trust me.
Now, that's if you question his loyalty to you, but if you question how much he loves you (which is kinda of related to loyalty, but just ignore that), then you'll face a different type of manipulation. Mans got a whole tool belt on him (I've been waiting to say that lol).
Questioning how much he values you, your affections, your words, and your presence, will lead to love bombing. And for those who don't know what love bombing is, it's a manipulation tactic where the manipulator will use excessive affection to make their victim depend on them for love, believing that they'll only be valued by the manipulator.
LoveSick!Athlete is very familiar with this form of love since he grew up with a mama who has bipolar disorder-
(To be clear, I don't mean to say that everyone with bipolar disorder is a mass manipulator or anything. In certain people, especially mamas who are juggling an abusive marriage, two children, and postpartum all at once, it can be a lot and lead to bad behaviors. Just wanted to say that as someone who deals with a mama with bipolar disorder)
-Now, as a young adult, he's grown the habit of absentmindedly using manipulation tactics to get what he wants. It'll all start with a small argument, you'll question his lover for you, if he even cares for you. After all, he seems to be more attentive over his image than you, his girlfriend!
And all LoveSick!Athlete will do is smile at you, saying that he understands your concerns and that he'll do better. Obviously, this will confuse the hell out of you. Who responds to an argument like that? Certainly, no man you've ever dated!
Even if he doesn't realize it, he'll begin to show excessive amounts of affection after the argument. He'll constantly be giving you hugs, clinging onto you like a leach, and spamming you with messages/calls. You'll grow accustomed to the overbearing affections, allowing it to become a part of your daily life, but the moment you're used to it, he'll rip it away.
Suddenly, it's as if you don't even exist, like you're just another girl to him. Of course, he'll acknowledge you as his girlfriend, but he's no longer touching you. He's not hugging you, having an arm wrapped around you waist, nor is he holding your hand in public. It's as if he's embarrassed about your relationship. You'll begin to think that LoveSick!Athlete is cheating on you (he's not).
And this sudden behavior change is so delayed that you won't even relate it to your argument, thinking that it was a whole separate issue. And LoveSick!Athlete won't realize it either; it's just subconcious decision he made without knowing.
At some point, you'll come crawling back to him, desperately wanting the affection you used to be overwhelmed by. Of course, LoveSick!Athlete will be overjoyed, welcoming your upfront behavior with open arms. To you, this is like whiplash. Just a few days ago, he was off-putting, giving you the cold shoulder, and now he's leaning on you as if he can't stand himself, what the hell is going on?
And that's when you realize that you're not dating the most... stable individual...
Not to mention what he let his teammates do to you... but that's for another ask, yeah?

Personally I think they're both huffing a bit of copium about one another (Vox and Alastor) but Alastor is better at hiding it/maintaing his cool. We know that at least Valentino feels confident enough to goad Vox into taking the bait, that Alastor "almost" beat him last time. It's an interesting attitude compared to Vox's. Even Velvette doesn't seem all that concerned with Alastor, both her and Valentino are confident in the Vees current status and it's only Vox's personal insecurities that prevent him from sharing that mindset.
Vox's medium IS the victor in the grand scheme of things, he (along with the other Vees) ARE more relevant than Alastor/radio. And Vox is also capable of upgrading/improving himself over time in a way Alastor (from what we've seen) is not. It's so interesting seeing Vox unable to fully realize his strength/power - he can say it all he wants, but I don't think he really believes it. We the audience, however, know that visual media is king... case in point we are watching this series as a show on screens. Vox's hypnotism and electric powers are also pretty OP, he's got a good deck of cards (even though we haven't seen the full extent of how he can really leverage these yet).
And let's not forget Alasor BOOKED IT across town to get back at Vox during Stayed Gone. I think Alasor is (and should be) somewhat nervous (maybe "cautiously aware" is a better term) about the influence Vox and the Vees have regarding the future of media. He doesn't crack easily, as we've seen, but he cares enough to engage with Vox which he doesn't bother doing with outright "lessers".
In this way the dynamic is more even (in my opinion) than many give it credit for, which I personally prefer, but to each their own... for me, if it's not more equally matched, I struggle to see how the Vees will be worthwhile antagonists in the next season and that would be such a shame for characters that have so much potential. I just love the Vees!
(prev ask)
ehh I mean I do feel that they are on more equal level than some of the fandom may make them out to be but I still don't feel like they're exactly on the same level. like every time I see takes about mutual stuff between them I still can't fully agree cause to me, it's still on some level imbalanced. I do think they are of roughly equal power yes, but I think alastor being able to keep his cool is in fact a point towards him having the upperhand. it's the fact that vox is literally incapable of keeping his cool when it comes to alastor that spells more of his weakness when it comes to him I think. but yeah I mean how the vees, or rather vox will be a proper antagonist when he's so easily defeated by alastor is what I've been asking for a while LMAO.
and the thing is, we've seen instances like alastor being somewhat scared when zestial pops up, his mask slipping when starting stupid beef with lucifer (his eye is literally twitching the moment lucifer steps into the hotel LMAO), and of course with his fight with adam. we don't see any of that when it comes to the vees/vox, alastor waves them off as "nobody important" when niffty asks, easily tramples vox in stayed gone (and yes, he did immediately go back to his radio tower to bite back, but I don't think that's necessarily out of fear, could've easily just been he saw he was being insulted on live tv and HAD to bite back because he's a petty bitch), and gloated to him about having to "try harder than that" after failing to spy on him.
in my view, he doesn't see the vees or vox as a serious threat. HOWEVER, I do think that could easily be a point against alastor. his cockiness and not taking them seriously could very well come bite him in the back (JUUUUST like with adam!)
but when it comes to his current season 1 dynamic with vox, I do think he has the upperhand because of their different attitudes. if vox was able to keep his cool like alastor he wouldn't have caused a city-wide blackout over stayed gone LMAO. they're definitely more leveled power-wise though I think, the difference comes in their attitudes. if vox won the idgaf war a bit more they'd be more leveled, but he has chosen to obsess over him 24/7 so here we are.

I reread the Rook ask with a tailor player and immediately saw the potential.
What if the player was a famous tailor and designer back in their world, that loved to make outfit and jewelry for their lover ? Like imagine the player using their knowledge of Disney to make a set of clothes and jewelries inspired by their villains counterpart. Like Vil get a whole fairest Queen inspired wardrobe, that is like the most accurate thing ever coupled with the matching jewelry. (And of course some others clothes that have nothing to do with it. The boy deserve variety.)
With Vil/Malleus/Leona. Pretty please ? 😚
(I swear I smell the potential for an AU or smth like that but I promise to behave and not flood your ask with it.)
Oh yes. THE POTENTIAL! (But seriously, people who are able to make clothing are so talented! Ever tried to sew a simple shirt? That stuff more complicated than it looks like.)
Dw about flooding my requests when they are open again. Just do it. I don't mind.
Tumblr media
Self-aware au
I do not take any responsibility for you reading this no matter which age group you are from!
WARNINGS: Yandere themes, imprisonment, possessiveness, poison, religion, obsession, kidnapping, stalking
Leona Kingscholar/Vil Schoenheit/Malleus Draconia-Darling who is a talented tailor
Tumblr media
Usually Leona isn't someone who cares how he looks like as long as his clothing feels comfortable and doesn't get in his way
Keyword: usually
You see, that t-shirt you once made him is just so precious to him
Not that he would show that
He just might make sure that it doesn't get damaged or dirty if that can be avoided
And then you make him more clothing
His closer was never so full before you came...
Don't worry about the expenses though, he gives you always money in return
But oh dear, please save the poor soul who would damage it in any way
I can only say, all that Sand in Savanaclaw hasn't always been sand... (you catch my drift, right?)
And you might do send him signals of likin him
Under normal circumstances this would be all fine and dandy...
But we are talking here about characters that know that they are 2D ok? It's never that simple...
He will be everywhere
Following you around, watching you...
And back home you are known as “that one stranger who has made uncle Leona weird”
Be happy that they don't know that you are the Overseer
At least not yet
If someone else were to get clothing then he would make sure that they would be shredded into notingness
Only he is allowed to get them!
Just... don't stop making them. It's one of the few things which keep him in check
Tumblr media
All those expensive brands? Now trash in his eyes
He has received clothing and jewelry from perfection themselves!
Maybe he doesn't need to use that love potion... *ahem* what?
But let's start from the beginning
One day you gave him just a small piece...
And now you are doing his entire wardrobe
He loves that one outfit which is based on the Fairest queen
Is that you telling him that he has finally reached her level??!
Like Leona, we can only wish the poor soul which damages those pieces in any pieces well
But no, Vil won't make them disappear without any trace
For that he is too haughty
He will publicly humiliate them to such an extent that they won't dare to set a foot outside of their home
And if that doesn't work... there are surely potions that can torment you to such a extent that you... Ok let's stop here
By the way, when was the last time you went out of your room and didn't sew?
Vil knows that you can't leave when he tells you that he “trusts you so much” and “needs that jacket plus the fitting earring till tomorrow”
Catching on? He will use your passion to keep you isolated
Like this he is not only the only person with whom you have contact but also the one you will always think about
If you were to say no though... once more, potion (this is getting old, isn't it?)
He will flaunt the things you make but when someone asks him where he got them they will experience such a nasty glare... Vil, this isn't good for your career...
Also, shouldn't you feel grateful that you are able to make clothing for the Vil Schoenheit?
Just don't make rings, he might misunderstand that for more than a friendly gesture
Tumblr media
The price of Vils brand clothing? Cheap rags in comparison to what he wears on a daily basis
And then suddenly the royal tailor doesn't get any more requests from him anymore
Meanwhile, the future king of Briar Valley is screaming about presents from the Overseer
I'm not joking, screaming
Malleus doesn't just have problems with being way too obsessed (which is already bad enough in itself) but also believes that you are courting him
Something self-made with heart....
And oh, you need some red stone? Take this ruby here. Don't worry about it's worth
Yes, he promises you the world on a silver tablet every time you give him something new
And then you tailor him something which is inspired by his ancestor...
You might make him cry from happiness
Lilia is screaming, Sebek is screaming, Malleus is screaming and Silver would scream if he would be awake
But he doesn't dare to wear these on everyday occasions
Oh no
Only for special things
Like that one gathering of the Faes which ended with them bowing in front of a coat you once made for him
Be prepared to be spoiled in riches
Faes always repay their debts but this is something else for the monarch
He just wants to court you too, isn't this cute?
Oh God....
Don't give him too much in too little time
Otherwise you might find yourself in a unfamiliar tower with a spindle, sewing equipment, all kinds of diamonds and a lot of fabric woven from the most expensive material
Yes that spindle is the spindle

I dont know if anyone's talked about this yet, but Lee Sookyung is such a thematically significant character for someone who doesn't get to be physically fighting alongside the main party most of the time
Of course, as Kim Dokja's mom, she definitely matters to the story, but I think it's so important that she's the reason that Kim Dokja loves stories. Lee Sookyung loves reading just as much as her son does, to the extent that she literally wanted to name him "reader." She showed him how to interact with stories, that stories are primarily a medium of empathy, and when she went to jail, she inadvertently was responsible for making Kim Dokja's life revolve around stories (specifically her fabricated story and the comfort story that Kim Dokja had to rely on as a reason to live). And maybe that doesn't seem like much, but Lee Sookyung's characterization makes it clear that humans' love of stories is hereditary. The first time we come to love stories is often the first time we get told one by our parents. Our ancestors pass down the stories that matter the most to us, and our parents influence the stories that we end up deciding to tell. Lee Sookyung is also the first person to show Kim Dokja the true power of being a reader, a writer, and a protagonist. After she taught him that books are beloved windows into other people's worlds, she then went on to show him the power of controlling the narrative by writing and starring in the book that kind of destroyed his life, but isn't that also the power that Kim Dokja goes on to use to destroy the Star Stream? By taking a story he knew, he inserted himself to change its trajectory, just like his mother took the story that she witnessed and inserted herself to protect her son.
And then there's also the way that Lee Sookyung helps Kim Dokja understand that people are stories that you only really get a small piece of. It's a major theme that people are stories made up of not only the actions they take themselves, but also the meaning that they hold to other people. To Kim Dokja, Lee Sookyung's story is that of a failed mother and a source of trauma, but to the Wanderers, her story is that of an inspiring leader and dear friend. The scene where he realizes that he alone isn't enough to tell her story in full, and that it's necessary for her friends and other loved ones to cooperate to put together a more complete picture of who she was as a person was honestly so beautiful and poignant. And it becomes even more that when this concept of a person's character being made up of who they are to a variety of people becomes the crux of The Kim Dokja Company's most significant attempt to bring Kim Dokja back in full. Just like when Lee Sookyung was dying and needed to have all kinds of people she knew to piece together her story, Kim Dokja ultimately needs all his friends and loved ones to do the same for him. And these parallels are so clear and intentional that I still can't help but want to articulate how clearly conveyed the themes of ORV were. They rarely ever drop a theme that they introduce, and they reinforce the significance of those themes with increasing strength every time. Every theme and piece of the puzzle has multitudes to it when you look at it for even a few extra seconds, and I think that's why this webnovel will continue to linger in my mind for way too long

The patrick chains meme but it's an opinion you have for ff7
Lucrecia does some despicable things, but I don't think she deserved having her newborn child taken and subsequently kept from her.
While she indeed ran away and essentially abandoned Seph, we don't see how and why she came to the conclusion that there was nothing she could do to see or get to him. Hojo could have threatened her son. He could have triggered her into a state of complete futility. Or maybe she tried multiple times to no avail. We don't KNOW. We never get to see it beyond a single scene of her pleading with Hojo, only for him to blow her off. For all her immortality, Lucrecia doesn't have super powers, and was in an extremely weakened emotional and physical state thanks the the Jenova cells. So perhaps getting to Sephiroth would have always been physically impossible. Dirge doesn't really show us the full extent of her regret because it's limited to her relationship with Vincent over the larger narrative.
I don't think Lucrecia is evil. Or a monster. I think she made some very real, very human mistakes and has no idea how to fix them. She shut down because the hole just kept getting bigger and bigger and she kept making stupid decisions in order to try to fix it. And I think that's a surprisingly realistic reaction. She didn't hate Sephiroth or regret being his mother. I think she truly thought there was nothing she could do. And I think she believed the Jenova Project was some misguided way to make up for what happened to Grimoire--a great achievement after a great loss. She likely didn't think Sephiroth would be taken away.
Lucrecia is a complex character. I think too many people demonize her in the fandom. She's done some downright disgusting, awful, irredeemable things. But I don't think she's an evil person. She can't crawl out of the hole she's in and her learned helplessness has effectively ruined her capacity to make good choices. That's a human dilemma. A real one. And one worthy of healing. She's responsible for what happened to Sephiroth. But her presence, had they allowed it, might have also helped avert what he became. Them keeping him from her was NOT her fault. And realistically, one severely depressed and physically weakened woman against a fascist mega corporation with literal armies at their disposal probably couldn't amount to much.
I don't think she's a good parent. But I also believe she loved her son. I think people are complicated.
People who say she's just as bad as Hojo....no. No, I'm sorry. But no.

Tell me more about your oc James
Gladly... (he's definitely not my favorite.)
James. 'Jim' Addams 🚬
Tumblr media
James's backstory/home life.
James is the token bad boy with a heart of gold. Born to Rósetta Addams (Alive) and Paul Addams (M.I.A), James was a mama's boy. Even if it wasn't the best for him.
James's mother never paid much attention to him, but he always clung to her when he had the chance. But his love for her started to grow resentful when his father left.
His mother blames him, but now grown he knows it was never his fault. His Mother was always self-centered, everything always had to be about her. She was a beautiful woman with an ugly heart. And she often took it out on James. Not physically. except once. But mostly emotionally, and mentally.
He was never good, never pretty, never her sweet boy. He was always the burden, the chore, the job, the thing that messed her body up and he "better gown up to be something great to make up for all the 'damage' he's done."
He always wondered why his dad never took him. He figured it was his looks. He was almost a copy of his mother. Dirty strawberry blonde hair, hazel eyes, freckles that covered his face. He thinks he would be just too hard for his dad to look at.
James's looks
James is a pretty boy. <3 With his dirty blonde hair, hazel eyes, soft lips, and straight nose, he spends his day outside a lot so he has nice sun-kissed skin.
He has a few scars here and there from just being a rowdy boy and playing outside and some from fights.
James's personality <3
James comes off as a dick that only cares about himself. And while that to an extent is true. He's a loyal friend, and when you get past the rough outside, emotional trauma, and abandonment issues. He's a big baby and a goofball at heart.
He doesn't have many friends but the ones he does he always stands up for and won't have them be pushed around.
He even defends his mother. Even with everything she did and does. If he hears anyone negatively mumble her name he will swing first and it will be the hardest hit he'll throw.
Being friends with James
It takes a bit, but you'll get there. He won't open up about his past or anything but if he is upset about something going on recently he might tell you about it if you ask.
He'll often walk with you to and from wherever you are or are heading.
He will fight with you. If you are in a fight and need help or it's an unfair fight he won't think twice about jumping in to help.
He won't be opposed to sleepovers, if you asked him or offered he wouldn't say no. And you'd spend the night playing a video game, eating junk, and listening to him ramble on about his favorite character.
Being in a relationship with James
This would (most likely) be a friends-to-lovers situation. (maybe enemies to lovers depending)
One night he just shows up at your house. His mom was going in on him again and this time he just couldn't take it.
He spills his heart to you, even sheds a tear or two. You tell him you'll always be there and will never leave him and the next thing you both know you're kissing.
The next few days are a bit awkward. Not in an uncomfortable kind of way but more of a "where do we go from here? What are we to each other?" kind of way.
You both test the waters. holding hands, opening up more to each other, cuddling at sleepovers, nightly video calls, quick kisses on the cheek, and when you're both finally comfortable full kisses.
For a while you are unlabeled, not an official couple or anything but different from friends like before. It wasn't until someone tried flirting with you that things started to heat up. And after a long heart-to-heart, you both wanted to be labeled as partners. <3
You can find the art of James on my second account @all-about-bride 💕

That was one of my criticisms for Castlevania Season 2, when I watched it back in 2018: so much screen time spent on Dracula moping and waiting for release from his pain. I think such a miserable position for the FINAL BOSS should've been preserved for an endgame reveal, instead of explicitly displayed for hours of animation frames. But, if you could adjust his arc, where would you do it?
Alright, so.
My unshakeable idea is that the CoD prequels tell a perfectly coherent story, and a good writer could have easily intertwined the hero side of Trevor and the gang approaching Dracula's castle and bonding in the meantime (bonding, not Alucard participating in the Cunt Olympics), with the villain side showcasing Dracula destroying villages and losing himself in his fury and Hector being so disgusted by the senseless violence that he leaves, creating a chain of events where Isaac has to follow him to kill him/retreive him, therefore leaving Dracula unprotected against the legendary Belmont, his son, and a terrifying witch. (in this version there's not even Death, so Dracula really was left without his best people)
What kills N!Dracula in S2 is that he has zero drive. The villain plot hinges exactly on this point. He's patiently waiting for everyone to die, but he's not supervising the war that he has started, leaving room for discord, discontent, doubts, and giving this random regional ruler the chance to swoop in and seize control by simply telling Hector "hey cutie follow me 😘".
The idea that the other vampires disagree with Dracula makes sense. He is leading them to a slow, painful death by starving. I do think Dracula should have grown more paranoid and eager to mantain control, though: N!Dracula strikes me as being disrespected and not even worthy of respect. Again, I remind you of the fact that Carmilla made fun of him and Lisa in front of everyone, and Dracula let her go without so much as a slap on the wrist. No fucking way this should fly. This is not a villain I can take seriously. I want this bastard back:
Tumblr media
"this bitch believes he can have an opinion. yeet"
Like. Have him being a menace to everyone in the court. A hated menace, maybe, but for fuck's sake give him back some charisma! None of that "my fwiends don't wike me anymowe. awe you stiww my fwiend, Isaac-kun? 🥺"
I hate the inclusion of Carmilla, and while I can think about how to fix her by making her less of a walking stereotype, her role in the story is to make Dracula and his lackeys look profoundly stupid: Hector for easily going along with her plans (her protests sound plausible at first, but then she talks about unseating Dracula out in the open??? and then Hector, the supposed General, has the balls to be all surprisedpikachu.jpg when he has to betray Dracula????), and Dracula and Isaac for giving in to her whims simply to shut her up, while fully knowing that she doesn't have good intentions. She's not necessary to this portion of the story. Hector in the show already starts out as not liking the slaughter of innocents despite him being okay with culling, and in this version he was outright lied to by Dracula. He should have, by all means, realized by himself that he was deceived, that no one in that joint takes him seriously, and defected out of personal hurt, before learning something about human empathy. Having an underling witness the full extent of Dracula's cruelty and stubborness makes him look better than whatever this is:
Tumblr media
And yes. Witness. Show. I swear this show hates to show things. Dracula only effectively destroys a village on screen in the very first episode. That was cool! Why can't we have cool things here??
I don't care that Carmilla's removal would radically change Hector's plotline in S3 and 4. Considering what happens to him, it's for the best. Because Carmilla is completely irrelevant for anyone else: her plans barely have the chance to step out of her castle before getting squashed, and the Trephacard gang never learns about her. Yeah I know Isaac has his Belmont moment when he kills her, but you know. His desire for revenge should be about Hector anyway :) They are supposed to have a whole story together, not him being the Jesus of the situation while Hector is some rapist's chew toy :) but hey, for that, my friend @chumpovodir already thought on how to fix that mess.
Anyway. Dracula in S2 should have at the very least engaged in more on-screen atrocities. His random flashback where he kills the merchants in an oddly sexual way doesn't count, because that was a way to say "oh look at him, he was so Evil before Lisa healed him with the Power of Love 🥺". No, I mean that in the present. Dracula is a petty, vile man who overreacts to genuine grief by spreading around his misery. He needs to be insane, but proactive.
Oh, and he should have turned into a monster >:\
I apologize if this answer doesn't fully satisfy you lmao. I tend to go into tangents lol, this show activates my braincells like little else

"Right, my friend," he said, "quite right! Better he not know as yet; perhaps he shall never know. I pray so; but if it be needed, then he shall know all."
I never really noticed this line last year, but. Well, there you have it honestly. I think, in amidst all the logical reasons van Helsing doesn't tell Jack about vampires... this is his primary thought process. There's more to this dialogue of course, which deals with those with greater knowledge/expertise/an outside view not explaining their reasoning, and obviously the whole corn speech... and those are an influence too. But I think his main reason is right here in these first lines. More emotional than logical, though containing elements of both.
Sure, his explanation is far-fetched. Maybe he even worries a little about Jack or Arthur or Mrs. Westenra refusing to let him see Lucy if they knew what he's thinking. I've never really put stock in van Helsing being afraid Jack would try to have him locked up for multiple reasons (ranging from their relationship to that not really being Jack's job). But there could still potentially be consequences with them doubting him and not following his directions.
He wants Jack to come to the conclusion on his own, so it'll be an easier sell. He wants to confirm his own thoughts first, and then once those are confirmed... well. As long as the job gets done (Lucy is protected) why does he need to burden them with the knowledge? It's as true for Jack and even Lucy herself knowing about vampires, as it is true for Arthur knowing about Lucy getting worse today. Van Helsing tells himself that when the situation is truly dire, when it's truly necessary, then he will tell them. But until then... they can't really do anything more than they already are, and he doesn't want them to have to face more pain.
And once he starts thinking that way, it becomes easy to tell himself "it's not necessary yet." He acts like he will tell him soon enough today, but as time passes he keeps backing off. So long as Jack is willing to follow his instructions about the flowers, or about watching her at night - and he is, even without explanation! - then he doesn't really need to know, does he? If he figures it out on his own, that's fine, but van Helsing doesn't have to tell him when it won't change anything but just add more distress, right?
Arthur managed to circumvent all this today by being so good at seeing through people pretending things are okay/reading between the lines. He forces the issue by showing up in person, and van Helsing is thus convinced to tell him in order to enlist his help. But imagine if he didn't do that. Would van Helsing have told him? Probably, if it looked like the transfusion from Jack wasn't taking. But if it was... well, I could see him changing his mind and deciding not to scare him by revealing that they ever had to perform a transfusion in the first place. After all, it turned out fine, and telling him would only make him worry more without changing the situation.
It's the same thing with Lucy. No need to tell her what they had to do to save her life. Even though van Helsing tells Arthur that he will inform Lucy about what's happened: "I shall tell her all when she is well; she shall love you none the less for what you have done." He never actually does this I think (please do correct me if I'm wrong). And it can be justified again as - oh, she's not well yet, not well enough at any rate. Besides, the procedure is complete and there's no need to worry her over the risk when it's all done anyway. If there were a situation where she had to know, of course he'd tell her, but she doesn't need to know and so he won't.
And so the time keeps getting pushed off and he keeps not telling, and their ignorance of the full extent of the situation becomes dangerous. And still, the motivation is protective and loving.

Thank you for being sympathetic to Alicent and viewing her situation with actual nuance and understanding
I'm proship as they come but the way the majority of the HOTD fandom talks about her make me so deeply uncomfortable with how casually cruel and lacking of sympathy they are. Like yeah she's a fictional character, but yeesh, their hatred of her is so eerily close to actual IRL misogyny. It's one of the very few times when fictional discussion is crossing the reality line for me
Oh, it has absolutely turned into real life misogyny - there's a ton of idiots online threatening to do all kinds of vile thing to the actress because she dared to comit the crime of playing a character they don't like.
And I meant it, even as someone who is very firmly Team Black, the Greens are interesting, compelling, complicated characters that are fun to watch, so even when I'm pissed at one of them is a "love to hate" kind of situation, because they're still being entertaining.
And again, Alicent was objectively screwed over the entire show, by her father, her husband, and by her society in general. Did she sometimes make things worse for herself or hurt other characters who didn't deserve it? Yes. But so did Rhaenyra, Daemon, Viserys, Aegon, Aemond, etc. The whole point of that story is practically nobody stays fully innocent when there's a full on war going on, and EVERYONE becomes a victim of the circumstances in said war.
I might want Rhaenyra to be queen, but it IS objectively unfair how Alicent was raised to think her duty was to marry whoever her father picked for her and give her husband male heirs to inherit all he had, and she did that without complaining for the longest time - and then her husband not only doesn't want her children to inherit, but he also has the nerve to call his child of a previous marriage his ONLY child.
I would not blame her one bit if she started throwing stuff at Viserys while screaming "Then why the fuck did you marry me and make me have kids with you for? The fuck was that about?" Hell, she could snap one day give Viserys too much medicine to kill him once and for all, I'd say she was fully justified (and in the truly pitiful state he was in, he might actually thank her fo it).
It really is no surprise that, when Rhaenyra makes a toast in Alicent's honor, thanking her for all the devotion she offered to her father through the years, caring for him as his health worsens, it led to the ONLY time adult!Alicent says she believes Rhaenyra would be a good queen. It's the first time in YEARS anyone has thought of everything she was put through, everything she had to sacrifice for the sake of other people who didn't even deserve it - and so it becomes the first, and sadly last, time she sees eye-to-eye with her former friend, and recognizes that Rhaenyra's situation of "You were named heir then your father went and got you two brothers despite knowing that would likely cost you the throne" is also not fair.
Otto and Viserys are to blame for all this misery for everyone in both sides of the conflict (except maybe Daemon's, to some extent at least) - Otto for using his own daughter and grandkids as pawns in the Game Of Thrones, and Viserys for being a pushover that lets himself be manipulated AND uses "I'm just a sick, fragile old man mourning my beloved wife that I murdered" as excuse to justify remarrying and causing a ton of trouble for everyone just so he has someone by his side (and not even appreciating said person) and doesn't feel lonely.
Alicent's biggest sin was not realizing she should not have put up with this bullshit - but how could she considering how young she was when it all happened and the way she was raised to think she had to obey her father and husband no matter what?

What are five pros and five cons you would give to Hazbin Hotel?
Gonna start with the cons, because I like to end on a positive note.
The Pacing. This was something I had a feeling was going to be a weakness of the show from the time I saw the trailer and learned that the first season was going to involve the next Extermination, especially when it was confirmed the season was only going to be eight episodes long. The twist in the first episode that the next Extermination was happening in half the time helped a little, but it still meant we skipped over months between episodes, with it being implied important stuff did happen that we just didn't see.
While I think it's better than Helluva Boss in balancing it's main cast (I love that show, but the uneven attention given between all of the main characters is one of the biggest issues it has), it still has some trouble with making all the characters feel fully like "people"? Niffty probably being the biggest example, since I love her, but right now she feels more like a living punchline than a real character.
The tone can sometimes be just a little...off with how it feels like we're supposed to feel. Best example being Sir Pentious death. The characters react to it like it was a serious event, because for them, it was...but the death itself was treated as kind of a joke? And I understand the show is a sort of dark comedy, so to an extent I expect stuff like that. But I think at that moment, the switch from "joke" to "you're supposed to seriously grieve this character" felt a bit too abrupt?
This is a completely personal thing, but as I've mentioned before, I don't love the whole sideplot of Sir Pentious having a crush on Cherri Bomb? It felt like it came out of nowhere, whereas most of the other relationships that seem to be a thing in the show were at least given hints in the Pilot. And it's just another example of the pacing being break-neck, since they had Cherri not show up until episode 6 of 8, and then Pentious dies in the finale, so they had basically two episodes (and not even full ones, just some scenes) to try and convince me of a romance, and, maybe it's just my arospec self, but....I couldn't really get convinced at all.
It's kinda hard for me to really think of issues I really have with the show, so I gotta kinda cheat a bit with this last one, since I can't help but wonder if they would've left the scene out had they known from the start of production that they'd get more seasons, but I personally don't love the whole stinger that reveals Pentious ended up in Heaven after Adam killed him? Not so much because I don't like the idea that he ended up there - I like that part. But I kind of feel like his death would have had a bit more impact if the audience did genuinely think he was gone for good for longer than like...fifteen minutes.
And now for the things I loved about Hazbin Hotel
The songs are arguably the biggest highlight of the whole series for me. I don't think there's a single one that I wouldn't happily listen to, whether in or out of context. From what I've seen I apparently don't have as high of an opinion of some songs as others, but I legitimately love all of them. I don't think there's anything I could say about any of the songs in this show that could be considered anything close to a real critique.
All of the characters are an absolute blast to watch. Yes, some of them don't have the most depth so far, but that doesn't change the fact that I just love to watch them whenever they're on screen? And it's not just the main cast, either. Obviously I love all of them, but even with fairly limited screen time, I found myself absolutely adoring whenever I got to see characters like Carmilla Carmine, Zestial, Velvette, and Rosie on screen. And all of the characters are so interesting and fun to imagine in different scenarios. And since I'm a writer, that is one of the biggest pros a series can have.
While the show is arguably more of a comedy, it is actually very good, in my opinion, dealing with some pretty serious topics when it wants to. The biggest example is Angel Dust's struggles with what he goes through thanks to Valentino, but you also have things like Vaggie's past and how her hiding that effected her relationship with Charlie when the truth got revealed. Or the whole thing of how it's implied most of Heaven didn't know about the Exterminations and that being revealed to them caused a lot of tensions, particularly between Emily and Sera. Or even just the whole thing of how Carmilla discovered how to kill Angels...but doesn't want it to be known what she did because she doesn't want to cause a war and lose her daughters, when the whole reason she learned that Angels could be killed was because she wanted to save them.
The character designs are some of the best I've seen in a long time. It really feels like the team took full advantage of the fact that it seems like there's no set rule for how demons can look in their version of hell, and so they went absolutely nuts with it, in the best possible way. Pretty much every single character has an incredibly unique design, and they're all just so fun to see. It makes the whole world feel so much more alive....slightly ironically considering it's the main setting is full of people who are technically all dead.
Outside of the one I mentioned above, I really like how basically all of the relationships in the show are handled, from the romantic to the platonic to the familial. They are all extremely varied and obviously some get more real attention than others, but all are given enough focus and attention that you always get the sense that the characters care for each other very deeply, especially by the end. And because you feel those bonds, you are even more effected by what the characters go through, because you feel like you're part of that group of people who care for one another. And I love that it also applies to the villains, with how Lute was clearly devestated by Adam's death, following the show indicating they were close, but usually showing them in what seemed to be a mostly "professional" relationship.

I'm working on a book about carcasses which is mostly just going to be factual answers to the question "What happens to a dead animal in variable situations?" ie a butchered animal, a pet put down at the vet, etc.
But also
I think it would be interesting to include a chapter on how handling and/or seeing dead animals affect people emotionally and morally. I recall a character in Texas Chainsaw morally justifying his chopping up of people alive by saying "We're all just flesh!"
Here are various anecdotes that make an argument against people seeing animals die, and knowing it intimately:
I recall two people who had beloved pets (a dog and a chicken) who their fathers killed in front of them, saying something like "You gotta learn the reality of life, everything dies." Idk how often that happens, maybe it does toughen people up in a good way most of the time, but, anecdotally, I only know those two stories because the kids grew up to murder people.
Nathan Winograd of the No Kill Advocacy Center argues against 4-H (where kids raise an animal and then sell it to slaughter) because "Quite simply, it teaches children to suppress their natural empathy in favor of financial gain – to turn off their hearts in a way that harms and diminishes them."
I also remember a person arguing very surely with me that "Ed Gein was in no way a bad guy." Ed Gein very famously non-consensually grave robbed all the time and also killed two people. I couldn't help but notice this person was arguing in an Oddities community, full of animal bones and very aware of animal death, and no one except me argued against him. I've seen lots of really nice people who enjoy bones but I couldn't help but wonder if some people forgot that rejecting certain aesthetic cultural standards doesn't have to lead to rejecting morality entirely. Like. I agree that having human remains in your house is not bad just because it's frightening to some people. It's the murdering that was the problem with Ed Gein. Did y'all forget that murder is objectively bad?
I know someone who had early experiences with death and who is WAY too blase about it now. To the point of truly believing that no animal should ever get veterinary care, they are never worth a single dollar, just kill them already, and if he had his way, he would have killed my personal beloved cat without even asking what is wrong with her.
Now, the opposite argument is hard to augment with examples because, well, how do you prove someone is emotionally and ethically stable because, or in spite of the fact that they saw something gross? That being said, hopefully I believe to some extent in showing the reality of animal death, as that's basically what my book does.
Generally, I believe you need information to make choices and changes. Here's a couple of examples in favor of seeing animal death:
I recall personally being at a consumer survey where a turkey company wanted to know what people like and don't like about their branding. One person said "I don't like that the product comes from animals that are 'humanely raised.'" Several agreed. I questioned why on earth someone would have a problem with treating animals humanely (disregarding whether the label is accurate, she was literally against treating animals humanely.) She said "I don't want to know about the animals. I don't want them to feel real. They're going to die anyway." So here we appear to have people so far away from agriculture that they actually prefer animal cruelty to the knowledge that animals exist before being made into meat. Maybe she should go on a farm and acquire some empathy.
Famously, Temple Grandin was able to make improvements to animal slaughter because she went to the slaughterhouses and learned about them. It wouldn't have happened if she decided "that's too gross." And we need people to inspect them all the time; I believe USDA reps need to be at every slaughter.
I go through a lot of similar hemming and hawing about the ethics of seeing blood/gore/death in this article I wrote called The Internet Has a Serious Problem with Murder Videos. The article hinges in part on the case of Luka Magnotta, who killed after becoming interested in murder videos, maybe or maybe not because of them, and he also got caught because people watched the animal and human murder videos he posted. It's not quite the same discussion but it's related. Any thoughts? Any famous examples I should consider?

Once again, Thank You. And before anyone comes at us sideways about Adrian's dreamwalking and him not accepting No from Rose. Remember, he completely stopped when Rose put her foot down about it. So once again, he doesn't push boundaries. He checked on her because he was rightly concerned. And his suspension was correct. Adrian doesn't push past what he knows about that individual person. He knew Rose was freaking out more than anything else with his dreamwalking. Cause when Sydney asked him to not do it, he stopped and didn't do it to Sydney again. Until she was in danger.
That's why I went on my rant, cause the excuses to hate on Adrian and continued hate when they haven't read past the first book. Were not strong at all but then in the same breath, just make Dimitri's age look like a super light thing. Just no, realistically, if Rose was in college she would meet Adrian as a fellow peer. While although she might meet Dimitri, it would still be with a power imbalance. Taking one thing lightly just to justify not wanting to look deeper into a character isn't okay.
Exactly. He's very good at backing off when he knows someone is serious. The same happened with Daniella in Bloodlines too when she was in Tarasov and he tried pulling her into spirit dreams but she didn't want him seeing her like that or something along those lines so he didn't do it again. I think the worst that happened was the dabbling thing but we don't know the full story behind that and Adrian was a stupid teenager who no doubt was under a lot of peer pressure and no doubt under the influence of something but he clearly never did it again and was regretful over it. This just goes to show that yes he isn't perfect but he has come a very long way with his character development and I think that was why that 'random' bit was thrown in there to show that yes he does have a past and maybe to shed some light on the dark parts of Court life and how it's not as prim and luxurious as it seems. It's a place with a lot of flaws covered by beauty.
Yeah it just feels like Dimitri groomed Rose to a certain extent. I can't get over the fact that he straight up took advantage of her when spirit darkness had seeped into her that caused her to act out, she was not in the right state of mind for any decisions like that — and this was before she was 18 might I add.

So, the thing about Amane's door reveal- I still think it's a courthouse given everything we know about her.
Plus, she's making a swinging motion as though she's about to slam down a gavel. The door to the building in this case Amane's mind is also reinforced, which goverment buildings tend to be. That and the implication she views her beliefs and understanding of things as the only correct one that outside forces must be scrutinized under if conflict arises is nothing new. We've seen her warn both Shidou and Mahiru this trial for not adhering to her rules through their behavior.
The architecture while having some aspects remniscent of temples isn't out of left field. Because older courthouses and government buildings almost everywhere have some features remniscent of that. However, Amane's door seems to mesh religion and law together to perfectly embody her ideals. Even though Amane cares about her religion she has been shown to value law and other beliefs to the extent that such things don't impose on hers.
Plus, during her first voice drama, she says,
"Hmm...a murderer." - "I did not. Me telling you that it is wrong to assume that I cannot kill someone because I'm twelve, and me being unhappy with being labeled a murderer are two separate things. After all, logic and emotion are not the same thing."
Showing that Amane can distinguish between critical thought and thoughts based on emotions. As well as separate the two. Meaning she can probably apply the same logic to her religious beliefs and the law as well. However, in the case of Shidou and Mahiru she is chosing not to this unlike with Futa who she has yet to reprimand for getting medical care.
The difference is that Mahiru and Shidou treat Amane like a child. Futa, on the other hand, may call her a brat, but he doesn't really overlook or ignore Amane's points based on her age. They are prone to having back and forth conversations as well that are more a clash of ideals than I'm treating you this way because you're a child, you silly kid you just don't understand yet. His behavior comes off less condescending overall. So, even though they have spoken sense the attacks, it's no surprise Amane had conveniently not given him a warning.
"Hmm... Talking about me having killed a person... That may be true, but I do not think that I did anything wrong."
"That's not up for you to decide. In Milgram, I make the decisions. If I say something was a mistake, it's a mistake."
"If you claim that what I did was a mistake, I believe you are the one in the wrong."
Then she says this,
"Hm, you may say it was wrong, but isn't what you are doing here a crime as well? Well, I do have something more important to me than general law. So, I will try not to judge you either."
From the beginning, Amane has understood what Milgram does is against the law. She gave Milgram the option to overlook her behavior, and in return, she'd overlook the facility's. Heck, maybe we could even work together if things went alright. However, Milgram sided against Amane. Don't fret though, Amane is a good girl she's not mad, just disappointed,
"Honestly…… I had high hopes for you, but you understand nothing."
She's nothing if not gracious. So, she'll give a warning,
"So you decided you don’t forgive me. If you don’t fix your way of thinking, we’ll never forgive you for all eternity."
She's even kind enough to reiterate her previous deal-
"What we think is right and wrong is evidently not the same as what Milgram thinks is right and wrong. Milgram is an incorrect world. But I’ll forgive you this once. We value thought. You should think hard about it."
Even though her thoughts haven't been valued in the same way. Her thoughts on her own actions have been chastised and belittled while people who don't know the full story continue to go by her age alone. Wrongfully assuming that since she's young, she can be taught out of it.
If we think really hard on it though Amane truly believes,
"I know you can do it."
However, if we think too little and come to the wrong answer,
"I will deny you a distorted vision needs to be purged! Let's strangle his throat thoroughly so he'll never talk back."
If Milgram is that sort of incorrect place Amane has no choice but to judge it by her higher more just laws. That's simply the righteous thing to do!
I'm happy that Amane is still the same as usual~
Milgram is going to be in her courtroom soon. I have high expectations for you kid and you've yet to disappoint.

Steven Grant-the lies we tell ourselves au
unironically, I fear these are only getting longer prev/next
steven is the most adjusted one of the moon knight system. that has happened purely because steven been kept from more of the damaging truths that could cause more maladaptive behavior. he's not perfect, in any way of course he's not. but because of that sheltering he's not prone to marc's doom spirals or jake's habit of shutting them all out. we see this in the show, his first instincts are healthy communication and understanding. I think because of this, some people tend to write steven without any flaws but we can see that this isn't true. he's also prone to anger and has a stubborn streak like all three of them leading to decisions that aren't well thought out.
I feel like I picture him as more calm than others do. he makes mistakes, but I don't think any of them are based in naivety. I tend to see steven being treated like a child who doesn't know what's going on. and I think that does him a great disservice to his character. it's possible to be a kind and forgiving character without wiping any negative traits out. I get that marc and jake, to an extent, kind of treat steven like a child but that doesn't mean that we have to as well.
from watching the show, marc learns to accept steven and stop hiding things from him. he is a full grown adult who can handle being treated like one. steven is tired of being told what to do and what he cannot handle and its fair to let him make him own decisions. in my au, I think that's an uphill battle that he's trying to fight marc and jake on. to no longer be babied and told what his boundaries are.
part of me thinks that steven is envious of marc. he has the name of the body and the most time with it, yet all he's doing is falling ass backwards into bad situations. this plays a part in his view of layla. you have this beautiful, intelligent, capable woman, and instead marc's spending all his time distancing himself? steven sees that as a waste. that maybe marc isn't appreciating her enough.
add in the opportunities that steven has missed out on due to marc and I could see him trying to endear himself to her. I don't think steven is maliciously thinking that he can treat layla better or purposely trying to steal marc's wife. but how many experiences does steven realistically have had? with someone like layla especially, someone who is as into his interests as he is and that he can keep a conversation with and not be treated like an inferior. I think he quickly latches on to this idea of her.
I've said it before, but steven doesn't really know layla at all. and this features into how he sees relationships in general. I think he'd be very all-in when it comes to relationships, platonic and otherwise. he's very loyal and if you can show that willingness to see him as an equal it's instant heart eyes. partly due to the lack of real life experiences he's had. he was so willing to go on that date with that woman despite knowing absolutely nothing about her-just that she was interested in him.
the point being that he's not really in love with layla-it's more what she represents to him. that he could be loved for who he is without being belittled similarly to how marc has treated him in the past (whether marc meant to or not) he does love her, but it's surface level. more of putting her on a pedestal, rather than a deep love of who she is as a person. that part can come later, and probably will but I'm not a huge fan of romance so that's not my focus in any capacity.
this au starts with the fact that layla has stayed in Cairo to be a superhero over there. and a way for her to give both the system and herself space to really process their feelings and relationship. those divorced papers still stay unsigned, but for all intents and purposes they aren't together. and I think this is crucial to steven's realization that he might not be as in love with her as he once thought. later, once marc and him have a real conversation about layla, he'll fully decide to let marc and layla find each other again without him muddying those waters. and learning who layla is as a person and as a friend.
when I think about the backstory, before the events of the show, steven has a lot of blanks. and he's both scared and so curious to know exactly what he's missing. his memories can't all be fake. there has to be good moments and things that are real. he gets into the habit of asking marc if it's real when he remembers something. occasionally, he'd forget what the reality of what their mother is since he has no memories of it. there'd been a couple times where he asked marc about their mother, but learned quickly to not broach that topic with marc.
the one thing that sticks with him, is that they didn't seem to have anybody in their corner. most of his memories are happy, yeah, but they are also alone. I think this loneliness bleeds into steven's adulthood also affecting how he views relationships. he might think he's better friends with people than he actually is. in my mind, steven does have memories of the time period that randall was still alive in, but randall isn't in them. like a family beach trip or something, but in his memory it's just their parents and him. like all mentions of randall were erased, so he didn't have to remember the fact their brother, their main friend was dead.
one person that steven would have memories of that marc wouldn't have is their babysitter. where their parents would go out weekly, maybe for dates or related to their father's Rabbi duties, and they couldn't leave their son alone. so they hired a babysitter. I imagine the first time steven asks to confirm if that was real or not, marc looks at him strangely.
marc doesn't remember these periods at all. and steven does but he doesn't remember anything bad but he knows by now that really means nothing. and it becomes something that steven can't let go of, because surely if some of his memories are fake that's marc. but if marc didn't give him this fake memory is it real? and they argue about it back and forth until steven drops it (for now)
when it comes to finding out about jake, steven loves the idea that they have a third. he ignores the implications that they'd been hurt more than they realized, but at least they aren't alone. they can have their own little family since they were denied that as children. the specific's of this will be left to be written but steven would love to get to know jake better, despite how difficult jake is making it.
I like to think is steven is more self-aware than others think. yes, he may be awkward at times. and he can have a one-track mind and get distracted easy but he's not stupid. he may play it to his advantage even knowing how he comes across. he may not have realized that he's well liked because he's used to people like donna who dismiss him immediately. but in general, he has this natural charisma and charm that draws people to him.
selfishness and stubborn ness is something that runs in the moon knight system. a link that connects their very different personalities. I don't think its as severe as marc's would be. he's self aware enough to recognize when what he's doing is counterproductive, as seen in the show. he wants the body and to not be fighting, but when he catches himself being injured or in the way he relinquishes easily enough. but he also knows when he's valid in those beliefs and will keep pushing. but still he knows when to take a step back.
and that makes him perfectly suited as an emotional protector and physical caretaker. emotionally, he knows what he can and cannot handle. he can continue even if something hurts, because he's relatively open emotionally. if things are too tough for marc to handle, steven can take over for him. give marc that chance to breathe and process as he needs to.
I feel likes he's less prone to emotional panic like marc. he gets overwhelmed, sure but he can compartmentalize in a healthy way. not just pushing it down to be forgotten and never spoken again like marc. he's not a perpetually bleeding wound. and I think he's better able to take care of their body when the needs arises. when it comes to groceries, showers, keeping routines. that's all steven. marc tries to an extent, I think jake would be the worst at it, not knowing where to even start.
their system needed gentleness when they were children, and this is what steven is. he's not immune to anger, but his empathetic nature allows him to recognize when he's fucked up and course-correct. but that doesn't mean he can be bulldozed. the stubbornness and kindness, making a perfect combination to be able to counter bullshit when he sees it. he knows when he's being talked down to, even if he isn't immediately calling it out. he knows when it's appropriate and when it would make things worse.
with the other two alters in this au, it makes him the perfect caretaker for the littles. the gentleness needed to handle children. the ability to compartmentalize (thinking about the type of shit they had to handle brings him to tears but they came later, it does nothing for them to watch him cry) for leo, who is more wild and a teenager, steven needs the ability to handle bullshit without wavering (thank marc for helping him develop that skill) and the gentleness needed for the timid younger rose.
he never learned to run or hide from his emotions. he never had to do that when he was young, that's not a skill he has. he can tackle them head on and come out better for it. I think he would still be a little exhausted and frustrated at being the one with the brain cell 80% of the time. and sometimes it might come out unintentionally. but he loves everyone in their system so deeply.
it boils down to steven being a man who values communication and honesty trying to work with a system that doesn't know how to do that. trying to balance that and the frustration that might grow from it. while also trying to come to terms with who he is under the fake truths that he'd been fed. his struggle is detangling it all and finding the truth in the middle. the calm in the storm that the system might need, but he might not want to be at all times.
