Son of a SOLDIER
Sephiroth x Fem!Reader, Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy VII crossover
(This is my first fanfic on my board so I’ll do my best)
It was nighttime on Destiny Islands. And what a beautiful night it was. The stars were out and twinkling and there was a gentle warm breeze.
(Y/N) was sitting on her front porch waiting for her little boy to come home. He had been on the other island with his friend for most of the day. Then, coming down the dirt road, she sees the two of them.
“See you tomorrow, Riku!” one of them said.
“Okay, Sora,” Riku said waving goodbye.
After they parted ways, Riku ran towards his house and was met with his mother’s embrace.
“Welcome home, sweetie.” (Y/N) said before kissing her son’s forehead. “Did you have fun today?”
“I sure did, Mom!” Riku beams. “Sora and I had a race on the beach!”
(Y/N) smiles and pats him gently on the head. She then says that it was getting late and that Riku must be tired.
She changed him into his pjs. A white shirt with a blue crescent moon in the middle and fuzzy dark blue pants patterned with stars.
Riku climbed into his bed and his mother tucked him in.
“Goodnight, honey.” (Y/N) whispered before kissing Riku on the forehead.
But she had only reached the door when her little boy spoke up.
“Um… Mom?”
(Y/N) turned around to see Riku sitting up.
“What is it, Riku?”
It was only a moment before Riku spoke again.
“What was Dad like?”
(Y/N) froze in her tracks but quickly snapped out of it.
“Why, where is this coming from?” she asked kneeling beside him.
“I don’t know.” Riku shrugged. “I’m just curious.”
(Y/N) wasn’t sure what to say because of an old promise she made. But she figured it would be okay to give him some information.
“Well, your father was a strong, kind and handsome man. He was a soldier.
“Really?!” Riku exclaimed.
“Yes. Of course” (Y/N) giggled. “And you know what? You look so much like him.”
Riku beamed brightly. He wanted to know more about his father but his mother said it was late and he needed sleep.
“Goodnight, Riku.” (Y/N) whispered as she walked out the door.
“Goodnight, Mom.” Riku whispered back.
(Y/N) took one more peek at her sleeping son before gently closing the door.
~4 years, 6 months ago~
At the Junon Harbor, (Y/N) had just arrived with her sleeping six month old child wrapped in a blue blanket. She had the message she got the night before in mind.
“Come to Junon. I have to talk to you. It’s important. And bring Riku.”
One she got to the base of the harbor, she sees a tall man with long silver hair that waved in the gentle breeze and holding a long katana.
“Sephiroth!” (Y/N) exclaimed. “Were you the one who sent me that message?”
Sephiroth turned to her, revealing his bright green eyes with the slit pupils. He takes a few steps closer to her and looks down at Riku. He smiles for a brief moment but regains focus.
“(Y/N). I’m afraid I can no longer keep you and our son safe in Midgar.” He said.
“What do you mean?” (Y/N) asked completely stunned.
“I’ve heard that one of the Turks had been spying on you. And if Hojo finds Riku, there’s no telling what he’ll do to him.”
(Y/N) looks down at Riku still sleeping in her arms with worry. She hadn’t met Prof. Hojo, but she had heard rumors about him.
“W-what can we do?!” (Y/N) cried.
“I’m afraid there’s no choice but for you to take Riku somewhere Shinra will never find him.” Sephiroth said sadly.
“B-but”
But Sephiroth puts a hand on her shoulder and assured her that it was for the best. He led her to a small vessel. He says it would take her and Riku to an uncharted group of islands very few people knew about.
“Before you depart, you must promise me one thing.” Sephiroth said. “You must never let Riku know that I’m his father.”
(Y/N)’s heart sunk at those words. But if it meant that Riku would be kept safe, she promised. With that, she and Sephiroth shared their last kiss before she boarded onto the ship and it pulled out of the harbor.
(Y/N) watched as Sephiroth’s figure slowly disappeared in the mist. She then turned her attention to little Riku who was just waking up, revealing sparkling blue eyes.
“Don’t worry, my baby. I promise to keep you safe from harm no matter what.”

tsun tell me abt the wings but like how they work in UR writing
Tumblr media
OH BOY.... THE WINGS META..... i mean i've mostly been winging it (lol) myself so i don't think i'll end up with huge paras upon paras of info (lying, i know how i can get,) but sure lets go!! before i lay anything of my own out i'll do canon the favor of itself; in canon usually wiz serves as dark's wings and carries him or daisuke around, but dark also has his own set that can appear/disappear (furl/unfurl) at will as long as dark himself isn't low on (magical) power. (why else would he even be called the black wings right-) there's also the matter of daisuke manifesting dark's wings from his own body all on his own, which, when using the 'wrong emotion,' (negative ones such as hate, fury or sorrow,) becomes actively detrimental to him. within dnangel, magic (and likewise, the case of dark's wings,) will always be a) something within a realm that ordinary human beings should not be capable of (aka "something that should not exist") as well as b) something that, at least in regards to hikari artworks, manifests from powerful human emotions. the wings, if not krad and dark for the hikari and niwa, are both proofs of their respective 'sins' - the hikari for playing god as artists, the niwa for being thieves.
that all being said, i don't usually bring wiz in as an npc to threads just because i don't want them to get too long. in canon wiz is aaaaaalways with or around daisuke. ALWAYS. that's his pet, his best friend, his cute lil obligatory magical girl mascot, wiz who hates water but braves it anyways over and over for daisuke's sake, wiz who always saves him and gets him out of all sorts of pinches!! i'll bring wiz in often for heist situations because it's there he's often truly a necessity, but dark having his own wings means wiz's involvement isn't always necessary for everything. dark/daisuke's own wings > wiz in regards to rate of appearance when i write to save myself and my partners some sanity.
frequency aside, the wings are also Actual Limbs. like. those are Physically Attached, sensations can be felt through them, and they can be cut, wounded, or torn off- hence dark's feathers shedding everywhere all the time and needing to be cleaned up. sugisaki messes around with the wings' physicality a lot because the back of daisuke's shirt isn't usually blown wide open, (more often than not they just kind of magically manifest out of thin air) but she's also had hiwatari's shirt rip and tear from manifesting his wings + daisuke outright bleed from trying to manifest his during argentine arc, and i think the process of Actually Gaining Limbs and growing feathers adds a fun dash of body horror that the series does pretty well with sometimes. when you really stop and think about it, the wings, or rather the process of a 15 yr old's body straight up Changing Like That (alongside, yknow, the other inhuman/monster-y bits like the eyes/teeth/claws,) is genuinely Pretty Horrifying if not at the very least bizarre, but it suits dark well as a (gothic) curse and brings him and daisuke closer overall to the beauty and beast thematic. it's freaky. it's weird. it's fun. normal ppl would be screaming.
daisuke also usually has no usual visible evidence of dark's wings; there aren't any thin slits hiding feathers (so even if you're like riku and scan or run your hand along his back, nothing in particular beyond a lot of faint, assorted scars show up,) but those spaces are there on dark's body when his wings aren't unfurled. (i'll give the anime credit for one thing and that's giving dark's shirts open holes for his wings to go through in concept art. i also think an outfit that has zippers on the back like this is awesome LMAOO) daisuke's also clumsier with his wings than dark is!! which means they'll often flap or flail around in response to his emotions on instinct compared to the way they might normally just smoothly lift, lower, or puff (angy) with dark --- when dai's unfocused and/or panicking that ditziness of his very often translates to Things Breaking all over the place because he can't help but run around and accidentally slap things everywhere. bird stuck in a closed room behavior. he's a danger and a menace indoors to all things fragile but it's all completely unintentional 😂
despite this daisuke also gets phantom limb syndrome very often!!! going from all that wing-weight to suddenly being without it makes him feel strange and overly light/floaty sometimes, which is why when he's particularly restless but doesn't have a heist scheduled, he'll often go on a night flight with dark to calm himself down. he does like flying. he does love his freedom, the moon and the stars and a quiet night. he does, at the bottom line, like being dark and the elation a nighttime flight brings him- he just needs a space like that where his intense social anxiety (or dark's own easily recognized fame/infamy) won't get in the way of his own existence, and it doesn't matter 'who' he is.
using jurassic park logic here (lmao) but assuming he flies as fast as a pterodactyl, (aka a rough equivalent body measure for human beings,) then he's around a steady 60 mph in the air - dark can go from azumano to tokyo in maybe an hour, which he can and will do if he's bored and/or just feels like visiting someone. dark's feathers have a rough and coarse look to them and are more or less pitch black, but when you feel them, they're actually pillowy soft and smooth (even the feathers are tsundere,) and give off a really nice reflective shimmer. given the magic that courses through daisuke's blood, it's possible to imbue some of dark's own power into them, (this is only really useful in verses where dark can actually readily do this without worry over detriment to daisuke's body,) but even if left alone to naturally shed, there'll still be very, very faint traces of the tiniest fraction of the kokuyoku's magic left on them. i figure i should also say that while you can brush/pet/touch his wings or something, dark/dai won't really feel it, or if they do it might just tickle or bother them, so it might not be as intimate as anyone imagines. stick to petting dark gently on the head like a bird he loves that.
i have no idea if i'm missing anything atp?? things i take from canon are daisuke hurting himself if he tries to force dark's wings out and if he ever connects to dark through negative emotion; also too much transforming exhausts him and his body, his heart can only pound for so much / he can only fly for so long before he just straight up gets tired and needs a nap regardless of what appearance he's stuck with. anyways what rlly matters is his wings are pretty af. free my boy let him do all the crime he wants, because hes special and got them gorgeous black fallen angel wings. he deserves it. its his right

a ranking of the Kingdom Hearts series thus far, by Sora with brief explanations
the games within the tiers themselves are not in any particular order
S Kingdom Hearts: The OG, my dearly beloved. The classic hero's journey. Gameplay was overall fun but definitely had some battles that felt impossible (unskippable cutscenes anyone?)
KH3: An absolute joy to play, I've never had more fun exploring worlds. It did suffer from having most of the main plot towards the end of the game and unanswered questions that were later answered by Re:Mind. The fact that employees from Disney aided with the development of this game really shines imo. A more in depth post about why I loved KH3. Battle was fun but also had difficult moments.
A
KH3D: The game that made me fall in love with Riku. The drop dynamic kind of sucked if/when you dropped in the middle of a boss fight I'm not gonna lie lol. But the story was great. Though Sora & Riku were essentially sent back in time (aka their appearance) the story and especially worlds are not repetitive. Flowmotion was extremely fun to use and the dream eaters were also another fun mechanic. Also the command deck is honestly my favorite iteration of the battle system so I was glad to see its new & improved form in KH3D and was sad to see it gone in KH3.
BBS: The introduction of the wayfinder trio, what a blessing. 3 different stories + a final episode. I loved that Terra, Aqua, and Ventus all had their own very unique playing styles (honestly I was the worst with Terra lol but I got used to him eventually). The first version of the command deck that I loved. Also the first time you could unlock treasure chests during battles (and they saved my ass). Shotlock also A+ loved it and so glad it came back in KH3. Difficulty was pretty standard; mostly a good level with a few really tough ones.
B
COM: So well written and intriguing. The worlds being 'repetitive' played into the storyline of exploring Sora's memories and it was the first time, so it felt okay. The first curse words of the series lmao aka Axel and Maleficent saying hell. This game pushed the gameboy advanced to the damn max. Also the first game we play as someone other than Sora~ enter Riku in Reverse/Rebirth. The card system sucked ass at times honestly and it was extremely hard to maneuver during certain battles on the GBA but that got a lot easier after the PS2 remake. While I'm glad the cutscenes were voiced for the remake, I will say the voice direction of RE:COM is some of the most awkward in the series. It also doesn't help that they did not put in any effort into changing the lip movements for the English language as they usually do.
Dark Road: Excellent writing and fun characters. Relatively fun gameplay at first, but quickly got repetitive. The good news was they let you use an auto function to cheat and speed through to get back to the story lol. I loved learning the back story to Xehanort and Eraqus and what made them into the adults we meet in BBS and later KH3. Shout out to my boy, Hermod. Never forgotten.
KH2: Character designs are immaculate and there are moments that are absolutely iconic. Had a good amount of fresh worlds while bringing back some beloved ones. KH2 suffered from some awkward voice direction and the game play was far too easy, imo. I beat it on critical mode with hardly any effort (other than the Roxas battle which is unique to the final mix version) and I'm honestly not very good of a gamer lol. I beat the game on my first play through in less than 20 hours which is kind of crazy. Also the 2nd visit to most worlds often feels forced and doesn't add much to the overall story of the game
C
KHX/KHUX: I barely managed to play KHX so most of this is based on KHUX. The fact that you could change your gender at any time was literally the best invention ever; signed, a non-binary person. I wish more games had that option. The customizable characters were freaking adorable and the options were limitless. The story was well written and intriguing when you got it. But... you had to do SO MANY repetitive endless missions to get to any story. I mean you'd get Disney related story sometimes but I mean like KH-core story. Not to mention essentially having to pay to win unless you got EXTREMELY lucky. And in general I'm just not a fan of MMORPGs so I dipped out after a while.
Days: Amazing story. Xion is my precious baby angel and I love her so much. The sea-salt trio reunion in KH3 was also the one that hit me the hardest tbh. But oh my god, the gameplay sucked. One of the hardest KH games to exist and I definitely nearly gave up on it a few times lol. The DS is just so awkward for KH gameplay and as we all know the graphics were.... abysmal to say the least. But there are some moments that were left out in the cinematic remake which will forever live on in our memory.
Tumblr media
BBS 0.2: Really fun gameplay. Customizing Aqua's outfit was one of my favorite things as well and it really gave me hope that it would be a feature in KH3, but alas lol. The story overall was interesting, but it overall had to do a lot of retcons to try and make the past connect with the present so that was kind of awkward lol. Also they improved a TON from early models, but overall bbs 0.2 still looked a little weird at times compared to KH3 which had extra time to be fine tuned. Also it's essentially a KH3 demo rather than being a real game but essentially KH3 was already too massive so it made sense to separate it.
D
Re:Coded: I'll be real, I hated this game lol. It switching up the type of gameplay a lot was a fun idea in theory but actually playing the game it ended up being annoying. Also, it was essentially a rehashed idea of chain of memories when you get down to it. We explore previous worlds we've seen many times by now with Data Sora. We get little bits of new info but ultimately really the only useful thing is the very end of the game. I did enjoy the cinematic version a bit better; the voiced dialogue made a few moments a more comical.
Melody of Memory: A fun rhythm game, but the fact that it includes story that's important all buried at the end of the game is kind of pointless/annoying? lol. I loved seeing Kairi get her time to shine but I wish it was more than her just narrating over Sora's journeys and then a handful of important cutscenes at the end of the game.

Theory time:
- Quadratum is to dead hearts what the sleeping realm is to the living (hence the environmental storytelling hinting it's a dream world)
- Sora's heart is among the silent, sleeping stars in the final realm, and his consciousness deep into the "abyss" of the dreamscape.
This does not clash with any evidence we are showed: Kairi and Riku did not even know hearts were in the FW until Fairy Godmother allowed them to see them, and even Sora could not interact with the silent ones - why are they silent? they might be deep asleep; we know the stars dream (like NS), and we know Riku uses a dive portal (forgot the name) to dive into Quadratum; we know Riku connects to Sora via his dreams (and he doesn't go to the Final Place despite those being so close together), and we know Sora has no voice in the Final World when he intervenes to help Kairi.
From this notion we can have two theories:
a. Quadratum is a sleeping world for ALL hearts, so Strelitzia, The Masters, Luxu (presumably), and even Yozora are all legitimate inhabitants who wandered there for one reason or another - it would explain Strelitzia being there, since she would just need to be a heart asleep in the final world.
b. Quadratum is Sora's dreamscape, and people who are there do not have honest intentions, but are specifically there because of him, in the same way Xehanort was in Sora's dreamscape in DDD. This leaves room for Yozora being a projection of Sora's subconscious, or his nightmare/dark chirithy as opposed to Riku's dream eater/chirithy.
So the way to bring Sora back might include stirring his heart first. The question is if the taboo he broke has other consequences, if sleeping keeps him safe (whereas going out would put him at risk), or if he can't leave like the other hearts because of the taboo he broke.
Whatever it is Riku is going to probably want to have a breakdown when he finds out whatever's going on cause oh boy he's gonna have to play it really well if he wants Sora to go back to the world of the living, cause "bringing back from the dead the person nature wanted to vanish because of his crimes" doesn't sound like a much lighter taboo to commit.

Well, seeing as I've had a few hours to process what the fuck just happened at the end of chapter 5 let's have some thoughts! While also ignoring N for the most part because.... oh boy he's probably gonna need his own post.
oh yeah and spoilers ahoy!
1) it's hilarious that you can bring heros that aren't riku and menana into the agnian prison camp. I realized just slightly too late that none of the classes I had set (and really wanted to level up on) had any break arts, which is an issue when you just know that this prison break is gonna go tits-up and you're gonna end up with some boss fights. the thought of tion phoning up alexandria and trying to convince her to break into prison with him is golden. she’s just sitting in the background for half of these scenes, imagine being asked by your buddies to help them break a guy out of prison and all of that shit ends up happening.
2) I hate gohndor with the entirety of my being. gohndor and shenia both like kids, kids, kids you both suck. There's no point fighting over who sucks the most because it’s both of you, grow up. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed that they were both like, 14. But no, they're 18. They're the same age as the party.
3) continuing on from point 2, if you check the affinity chart, Morgan's only 33. And unless it's mentioned in a side quest that I haven't gotten to yet it's never mentioned that she had a partner. So yeah it sort of does explain gohndor's behavior, having a single teenage mother with family issues of her own and responsibilities in the army probably doesn't make for a smooth upbringing or respect for your parent. But she still needs a smack upside the head.
4) “quest accepted: first day of prison” made me cackle out loud i wish i had screenshoted it.
5) “the food sent out to the colonies is harvested by prisoners of war” isn’t the answer to a question that i’d even asked but god does it make the “salvaging supply drops” mechanic bleak.
7) i had assumed that the variant of the mobius theme that played during the consul M boss fight was going to be an N and M specific thing, including the flutes because they’re alternate selves of noah and mio. so when the N fight started and we were back to the usual mobius fare i was a bit confused. but knowing what we now know it’s actually really clever that M gets mio and noah’s musical moteif in her boss theme because well, that’s mio. it’s a clever clue as to what was really going on that went STRAIGHT over my thick skull. it also just happens to slap hard.
youtube
8) Speaking of M it’s the most aweful thing in the world that, the entire time we knew her she was just this emotionless joyless husk. the only time we every heard any shred of life in her voice is when it was mio doing her best mobius impression to try and get on N’s good side, or when she was talking about her own impending death. fuck me.
9) you’ve also got the fact that M’s entire plan hinged on the knowledge that there is no way that N would pass up on an opportunity to torture himself. that the ecstasy of driving his young, hopeful self to the same despair that broke him would be too much.
10) on a lighter note the fact that mio a) kicked the shit out of her friends without hesitation and b) took joy in kicking the shit out of her friends without hesitation just proves that she’s just as much of a chaos kitty as nia was, she just hides it better.
11) the fact that in the colony 11 quest-line ashara is like “suicide is based actually, dying on my own terms doing something spectacular is all i ever wanted from my life” and sena’s like “huh, she’s got a point” hits a little different now....
12) oh god mio was stuck pretending to be that creep’s wife for a MONTH

❝ i just…i just want her to be safe. ❞ [ ill let u decide who they talkin bout B) ]
In a rare way it feels like he's learning something new about Riku of all people. The one his younger self aspired to learn from and chase after, who became not only a great rival at one point, but genuinely one of the best friends he could truly ever ask for.
He realizes just how many years have passed since they've actually got to spend time together.
For an instant Riku's heartfelt sentiment prompts him to bring his gaze towards the shore side, where a proud, cerulean lash of waves continues to lap at the shoreline. A mercilessly rush of the sun brings iridescence to an almost fantasy like scale laying like a gentle embrace over their home, and in particular, to a certain Kairi who found herself whisked away in watching their old stomping grounds upon a different shore.
He doesn't bring any hesitation in letting his hand reach over, to settle a supportive balance upon their back as her boys studied the sight firsthand, countless tales of thoughts hidden in the heart and mind billowing forth akin to a rush of steam. Seeing these days have a promised frame of the future, to let their efforts allow frivolity to never be an essence lost to the trials awaiting them.
Would this be a simple matter of him projecting? Or did.. by chance he shared this thought too? Any initial uncertainty was short lived as his best friend's presence made those mute worries. "I do too. ...And y'know Riku? I think in wanting that, I really have come to see a lot.."
In moments that were too painfully sparse. The way she allows fiery red hair and the bravery of her being steel the expression on her face. How she never falls back on speaking her mind on her concerns, a spitfire way for her to lead the charge on her life. It was such a vivid change from the internalized frustrations to the soft, but caring resignation she had for his wishes once upon a time.
He wanted to keep her safe too.
Yet.. that safety?
It felt like it was a mistake the day a cataclysm fell upon their heads. Where the dark, poisonous wrath of Kingdom Hearts contained no less fell upon them, where an embodiment of the end days have taken the nigh lifeless forms of Xehanort, and of the thirteen.
Tumblr media
It was a form of Kairi he genuinely never knew existed.
A new way that she took the boundless power within, fashioning to with raw mettle and a heart full of resolve, equally determined as their united hearts to show that even this apparition that takes a form of death would be denied. Sora found his heart truly relishing in that wonder that stormed through him then, in allowing that undeniably faith that ran within her to be shared. For him to truly stop holding back on those doubts due to very real fears of losing her.
"What does it really mean to keep them safe?" It was a spark of clarity that bloomed. In many ways, the keybearer didn't think an answer could be so quickly found through words alone.
For it to be meaningfully ingrained, what they need is experience.
Only then would Sora's head drift in order to glance upward, allowing for the fire in soul to keep his eyes focused, to truly peer towards his companion's heart through the eyes in this moment.
"I've.. felt like I've been holding her back a good deal. And it might've put her into a lot more trouble than she would've been in otherwise. Kairi has a lot of incredible things that she's hiding.." And this wasn't strictly being spoken from a degree of smitten sentiment, though it certainly plays a part.
"Maybe there's some new ways we can learn how to keep someone safe."

This probably has been mentioned multiple times, but I find it amusing that Roxas's little kneel down moment is used to juxtopose with Sora later in the game.
In Roxas's case, his kneel down is not genuine, as he immediately moves towards the weapons you get against Seifer.
In Sora's case, Sora was willing to give himself up for Saix in exchange for Kairi (of course, Xemnas would never allow this, since Kairi is a huge a lynchpin for his future plans, which was originally restoration of the original 13 darknesses with Org 13 as the empty vessels.)
This helps to contrast between the two, even though they are technically the same person. Sora is willing to sacrifice himself for his friends (even if this is the route that is unlkikely to bring in success), Roxas will not back down from a fight unless his friends are in danger, and even then he would prefer to fight (even if he were to lose).
Another funny moment is when Riku disguised as Ansem meets Roxas while he is playing with the stick, it is clear that he is also reminiscing about the times a. Roxas "defeated" him, and b. he was the chosen cheesecake of the Kingdom Key, in addition to keeping an eye on Roxas. (Roxas's digitial Kingdom Key becomes more amusing when you remember Xion's Kingdom Key is also just a data replica.)
Edit: Nevermind, the guy was actually Axel it seems.
Edit 2: No, I was correct, it was Ansem disguised Riku.

Day 3 of @khoc-week! I’m a bit late, but I’m doing the prompt, what is most important to your oc? I’ll be going into special connections later this week, so I thought I would focus on materialistic things this time around.
--------------
Tumblr media
The single most important item to Hinata is her locket. She never goes anywhere without it hanging around her neck. When she’s nervous, she’ll trace the indentations with her thumb as it serves as a reminder that everything will be ok.
When opened, it plays a holographic recording, similar to Sarah’s on Montressor.  The recording is a vision of her future that was shown by an oracular pig, named Hen Wen (Black Cauldron).
Sam also has something similar, but she houses her recording in her mechanical arm. She’s never told anyone other than Jim that she keeps it there. But if she’s ever having a long night, she’ll lift her arm and watch it.
If you’d like to know exactly what’s in the visions, you can read about it here:
Third Beginning Excerpt
How did they get these visions? Hinata was being hunted by the Organization and a hired bounty hunter, Cad Bane. She goes into hiding at the mansion (not her choice) in Twilight Town, never allowed outside for months. It drives her crazy and she eventually pleads with Riku to go to Prydain and find Hen Wen to see if she will have a safe future, so she can use it as proof that she can leave the mansion and be ok.
Riku eventually agrees and Sam insists on going with him, because she also has questions about her future. They also end up taking Jack (Hinata’s ghost dog from Halloween Town) and B.E.N (marooned robot from Treasure Planet that considers Hinata to be his captain)
After unexpected trials, they finally find Hen Wen and gained Taran’s trust to see the visions. Ben records the visions they see and Sam eventually extracts them and installs each of them in separate containers. Hinata’s in her locket and her own in her arm.
-----------------
Tumblr media
Another item that means a lot to Hinata is this sunflower charm. It’s not something she’s as attached to as her locket, but it reminds her of her father.
She has a rocky relationship with him and they don’t always see eye to eye, but there are moments where he’s the only one that truly understands her. This charm reminds her of a particular memory with him that means a lot to her.
Here’s a short excerpt from Third Beginning when she tells Riku about it— ( quick note: Riku had just transformed into Ansem days prior and hasn’t been able to bring himself to talk to Hinata or let her see him beneath his hood. So Hinata spends their time together talking about anything and everything on her mind to help ease his anxiety)
-----
Riku squeezed her hand and ran his thumb along hers. She let out a breath as she leaned her head against his arm as they walked. She slowed them to a stop in front of the bed of sunflowers. They were the tallest plants in the entire garden, reaching as tall as them with their golden petals spread wide and glowing from the sun. Hinata lifted her free hand, running her fingertips along the soft petals.
"You know, I don't think I've ever told you," she spoke up with a gentle voice, making Riku look over at her. Her eyes were softened as she stared at the flower in front of her. "My dad is the one that decided to name me Hinata. I've never really been one to care about what names mean or stuff like that, but my dad liked to remind me that my name meant facing the sun." She retracted her hand from the flower and pushed her hair behind her ear, "We didn't get to spend a lot of time together, but there were a couple times I would meet him at work and he would take me for a walk around the castle garden. There was a bed of sunflowers there, too, and there was one time he stopped right in front of them and told me that the sunflowers were what I was named after."
Her voice trailed off for a moment as she got lost in the memory, making Riku smile. Giving her hand a squeeze, she blinked and looked back up at him before continuing, "But, um, I never really used to understand what he meant. I mean, he always talked in riddles, so I half-figured he was just being weird." She giggled, then paused for a moment as her expression turned plain. "But, I think I get it now." Hinata looked back up at the sunflowers, a sudden gleam in her eyes. "These are the tallest flowers I've ever seen; their stems are strong and supportive, and they always face where the sunlight is strongest… It's how I want to be." She turned her gaze to Riku's with an innocent smile.
-----------------
There are a few more materialistic things that mean a lot to Hinata and Sam, but these two are what stood out to me the most as I was brainstorming.

❝ Hey…. You don’t think someone would— actually do it, right? ❞ Casi quietly asks Riku, glancing up at the other with wide uncertain eyes. As much as Casi might want to believe in the people they’re surrounded by, that’s hard to do with the life they’ve already led so far. People don’t always act the way they should and often don’t care about others the way they should too. But still- to KILL someone, for personal gain? … Casi wishes they could say it’s a ridiculous notion, but it’s not as if it’s never happened before. Frankly, someone like them— small and unassuming, without the slightest hint of murder in their gaze —should be one of the most worried. Should be hidden-away in their room, not approaching anyone. Let alone someone who could easily end them and seems intelligent enough to possibly get away with it. Alone after Monokuma’s little ‘pep talk’, with nighttime on its way and unease making the air thick with tension, it’s a prime time for plans to be made… Yet since the confusing situation began not too long ago, Casi had felt this strange pull towards Riku. A comfort, a familiarity despite having only just met. It’s confusing and illogical and possibly VERY stupid…. But it’s something to grasp onto in this terrifying situation. Besides, Riku could probably use a friend too. Casi just hopes that the other male is willing to accept one. Swallowing thickly, hands grip the strings of their jacket and nervously fidget, the bright green standing out starkly amongst the oppressive atmosphere of the hallway. A bright bit of color that’s out of place in this world they’ve been thrust into. ❝ I mean…. That’s ridiculous, right? ❞ ❝ Who- Who could bring themselves to KILL someone…. ❞ Plenty of people. - ( *shoves some Killing Game shenans* >:3 What it…. With the memory wipe….. memories were changed so that Casi and Riku forgot each other……. because Yes jgbjtvjtghyj )
Riku doesn't respond as quickly as Casi would probably like him to. Instead, he thinks. Weighs the pros and cons of murder as if it's a question in a textbook and not a very real part of their lives. Maybe he's still in denial. Can he be, now that he's acknowledged it? Ugh. Back to the real question.
Is murder really on the table, and if it is, what can he say to calm down the pretty little stanger who's chosen him as a source of comfort?
It would be stupid, Riku figures, to have complete faith in the others. Someone must be willing and able to kill to get out of here. After all, only one person has to die, right? One murder, and then they can get out of here.
In a way, it's smart to do it fast. Because it sounds like only half of them are going to survive, and it's easier to get away when there are more suspects. That much is simple. In fact, Riku could probably get rid of Casi right now, and-- no. No, no, nonono, what is he thinking?
Shit. That bear has even more influence than he realised. But he's not gonna let himself be that kind of person. He's not gonna kill, and even if he does, it's not gonna be the defenseless little boy band member. He's got enough decency to pick someone who could fight back.
Besides, he feels this natural click when he's with Casi, almost like they're meant to be together. Not that he'd admit that. It just sounds stupid, like attraction but cheesier. Still. He's not gonna kill him, and he's not gonna let those big eyes fill with fear like they did when Monokuma first explained the rules. Not that Riku was watching.
"I don't think it's smart to figure no one here will go for it," he says slowly, mincing his words, "but I also don't think you need to be too afraid.
"Statistically, you're one out of seventeen of us, right? So in simple mathematic terms, there's only a 5.9% chance that you'll get killed, or, if you subtract the killer and say you're one of sixteen, a 6.3% chance that the killer will choose you. Obviously this isn't straight math, and you are smaller than average, but you also have the benefit of being pretty and charming and--" Riku cuts himself off, suddenly all too aware of what he's saying.
Tumblr media
"I mean. I guess we can't count on everyone liking you. But... either way, if you want comfort or protection or whatever, I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea to form some sort of alliance? Like in the Hunger Games. If we stick together, no one could kill either of us without killing both of us, and that's a powerful deterrent."
Riku wants to touch Casi. He wants to offer him physical touch as a form of affection, and he's always been bad at understanding what is and isn't appropriate, and if he screws this up he might lose the first friend he's made here. But something tells him he has to go for it.
He mutters to himself, just a grounding "okay, okay," and puts his hand on the side of Casi's face, tilting it so their eyes meet. That shouldn't be too much, right? Neurotypicals are supposed to like eye contact. Sure, it feels intense to Riku, but Casi probably just takes it as a cue to pay attention.
"I'll take care of you if you want. Because I like you, and because keeping you close makes me safer, too. But I need to know that that's really what you want, and that you choose me to be loyal to over everyone else, okay? We can only be there for each other if we're really mutually there for each other."

(this will be a VERY long post)
✨Time to criticize Yashahime ✨
First of all:
I will only criticize the writing aspects, so don't expect me to say anything about the animation since I barely know about that stuff
Because of this I also won't address anything of Sessrin or the discontent because of Moroha's and Inukag's separation because that's more of a fandom thing
And this is only the opinion of someone who isn't any kind of expert in writing or something like that
Uff, Yashahime finally ended and it was... Interesting.
So let's criticize it :)
So first of all let's tell the ✨the good things✨ because even if there are more bad things, infact there are very little good things, we have to give credit where credit is due.
Good things :D
The girls' originality
Something that I saw other fandoms have complained in their own "next generation sequel" (like in boruto) is that the kids were just a "copy paste" of their parents, and when Yashahime was just announced I saw the same concerns (specially with Setsuna and Moroha)
But in the end I think any of them ended up being just female Inuyasha/Sesshomaru, and all were able to be their very own character.
Half of their relationship
Ok, I'm specifying that only half because sometimes the twins would be a little unfair with Moroha, but then be her "new family"(?), But then they proceed to leave her behind, and then AGAIN being like bff's so there is no consistency.
But in the first episodes Sunrise got it right and we could see a pretty good and functional dynamic between the 3 that was consistent and made sense.
Each one had a defined role that worked, Towa was the "moral" one, Setsuna the "cold" one who took more drastic decisions, and Moroha intervenes mediating both and brings information that may help please both sides. (At the beginning)
Moroha
I'M SORRY, I'm sorry, I can't help it, it's just that she has so much charm and is so lovely and innocent. And you can totally ignore the fact that she's InuKag's daughter and still love her just because her personality brings so much to the story.
It's such a shame that they didn't really use all her potential but I'll get to that later.
Aaaand that's all ;-;
Now let's go to the interesting part...
The bad things D:<
Towa
This point I actually want to explore it further in another post, because there's a lot I want to talk about her to specify what exactly went wrong and how I would have managed her but here I will leave it simple.
Towa in any way possible wasn't properly used, and even if almost every character suffered of bad writing, she was the most affected one.
She honestly isn't interesting, everything that could have been done with her according to her backstory was completely wasted, because even if she was the one with the least tragic story, there was a lot to work with (I mean, just look at Kagome's case and still most of the fandom loved her)
She kept changing her personality and ideology according to what the story needed, and at some point her only trait was "Setsuna's protective older sister"
And don't even get me started with how overpowered she is without any kind of training (I get she knows how to fight with bullies, but clearly that isn't the same as fighting demons with demonic energy)
Phasing
When people argue if the phasing is too fast or too slow, I think it's both, but in the worst way possible.
They waste so much time in scenes that aren't really that necessary or could be much shorter, and rush at incredible speed things that should actually be worked slowly and carefully.
The fights
I only can remember two or three that I actually liked because most of them were just exchanging hits with the sword, sometimes an special movement and that's all.
Half of the battles didn't affect the story in the least, and the worst of all was how the villains were defeated wether because they were lame as fuck or because Towa's random power up appeared out of nowhere.
Meanwhile in Inuyasha even if we didn't always had the best fights of all anime, we did get some pretty interesting choreographies and some villains really had an impact on the characters in a natural way.
Talking about villains...
Naraku is laughing from his grave
You know? I'm not a Naraku fan, but he was a bastard that you loved to hate, he maybe wasn't the most powerful character when we talk purely about his strength, but he was intelligent as fuck, he was always one step ahead, he had some pretty interesting abilities and plans, with him he brought other AMAZING villains (or anti heroes) like Kagura, Kanna, Hakudoshi, the weird baby, or even Sesshomaru back at the beginning, and the best part was how he was written being a complex character (like when he struggled with his human feelings for Kikyo)
But on the other hand we have Kirinmaru, Zero, the four losers (I mean, perils), probably my boy Riku, and who knows what other random villains.
First of all, ONLY RIKU would be a good villain (maybe I should have put him in the good things ;-;)
But then we have the four perils who, out of them the only one who seemed to know what he was doing was the green guy that did weird witchcraft, but the rest? They are just randomly bothering people because they have nothing else to do and honestly they didn't seem to be that powerful.
I'm not sure about Kirinmaru because I don't see anything clear with him, I mean, I'm not even sure if he's a villain.
And Zero... *Sighs*
I don't get what the hell she's trying to do. Anything that she does makes sense. She's just alive because of Riku, without him she can't do anything.
Like seriously, half of the world was after Naraku's ass, even his allies, and still he could get away with it. Zero can't even get her army in order to take care of 3 fourteen years old girls.
(Sorry for letting myself go with this one ;-;)
Not using half of your characters
I guess the best example is Moroha because even with an interesting backstory, mysterious abilities, and most of the fandom's love, they just used her as comedic relief for most of the series instead of developing her character or explaining better her spiritual abilities or Beniyasha.
And not only her, Hisui and the rest of the demon slayers were more of a background character. For example, in Hisui's episode we should have gotten to meet him, Gyokuto, and Kin'u better, but they preferred to focus in the twins AGAIN and not work the MirSan family. (Guys, first season and I still can't tell Hisui's definitive personality)
Same Takechiyo, Kyubi, Yawaragi, Kohaku, the villains, some past characters, sometimes even Riku. Basically every character who isn't Towa and Setsuna are walking tools for them to use whenever the plot needs it.
And no, I'm not saying "The twins shouldn't be the protagonists", a I'm saying "SIDE CHARACTERS AREN'T JUST PLOT DEVICES, THEY ALSO DESERVE DEFINED PERSONALITIES AND CHARACTER ARCS TO MAKE THE WORLD RICHER, OTHERWISE IT FEELS LIKE THE WORLD REVOLVES AROUND THE PROTAGONISTS"
Inuyasha knew when and how to dedicate an episode to a character, Yashahime doesn't.
Lack of character development
No one, except for Setsuna who is learning to rely and trust more on the girls, has any kind of development (sorry Moroha (・ัω・ั)).
I see Towa exactly the same as in the first episode, and because of how they've barely put attention to Moroha, she has barely shown any growth as well.
And I guess Hisui learnt how to trust his dad, but again, I can barely tell which is his personality, and the rest are background characters.
Powers / Abilities / Weapons
Here they neither explained ANY of the characters abilities properly or made them more powerful making sense.
Towa, just randomly learnt how to concentrate her demon energy in a sword and just keeps getting new abilities without training, and any of them seem to have any effect on Towa like (idk) having the risk of running out of energy. And at the beginning I liked how she struggled with her other demon abilities like smelling things but then they just forgot ;-;.
Setsuna's stick just produces wind and lasers without explanation, and her sealed power doesn't really work naturally.
And Moroha... EXPLAIN BENIYASHA BETTER. SAME FOR THE SPIRITUAL POWERS, that was supposed to be impossible!!! And again they recognized that at the very beginning, why did they forgot about it later???
There barely has been any "world" expansion
Something that Inuyasha never really got into was the "demon society", because with the exception of some tribes they never mentioned anything related to that BUT...
With that thing of Inu no Taisho and Kirinmaru apparently being "royalty" I thought they would talk more about that "Demon hierarchy" or if "Setsuna's courage trial" was something like a demon tradition (damn, that was honestly pretty interesting) but NO.
The topic has been barely mentioned and let's keep saying over and over again what the audience already knows for 24 episodes.
Weird Exposition
The way they threw information at us was pretty weird, like it didn't feel "organic" because instead of the girls getting into whatever situation where "x" character tells them certain things because it is related to what is happening, again, they chose pretty weird ways.
There were like 1,000 different options to tell us what happened to InuKag and Sesshomaru and all of them, like the girls talking with Myoga or Kaede...
BUT THEY CHOSE TO BREAK THE FOURTH WALL.
Comedy
I'm not saying Moroha is a bad comedy relief, she actually came with many good jokes, but you can't leave only ONE character to take care of the comedy. Towa and Setsuna also came with some good funny moments, so why would they only reduce the comedy to Moroha????
(In Inuyasha EVERYONE gave amazing comedy moments, even Sesshomaru)
And the worst part is that they only use the same joke with her most of the time! Losing her bounty and being poor.
"Atmosphere" (?)
I Promise I don't want to sound pretentious with this one ;-;
Those scenes where we were supposed to feel sad because of someone's death, intimidated because Kirinmaru appeared or excited because of a fight didn't work out.
I don't know exactly why but I think that it is because of a combination of lazy animation, bad selection of soundtrack, weird dialogue and the characters' lack of reaction.
So now that I think I've said all the points that they got wrong, let's get to the conclusion.
They stablished side plots or mysteries everywhere and didn't really do anything with them.
The girls never advanced with the story, they just kept running in circles around the same point during 24 episodes. (And no matter how long or short a story is, you can NEVER do that or you'll lose the audience's attention).
And with or without a second season, they made terrible mistakes that won't be able to be fixed. If it is only one season, TERRIBLE, they left way to much things uncovered, and if they plan another season, ALSO TERRIBLE, they rushed essential things and if they work them again they'll repeat one of their biggest mistakes.
And honestly I really tried to love this sequel, almost up to episode 12 I really tried to appreciate the small good things but they just kept slapping me with disappointment every single episode, and if they release a second season, I'll watch it but this time only expecting the worst of it.
In resume, yo can only truly enjoy Yashahime if you completely turn off your critical sense, and expecting nothing from it, otherwise you'll only keep asking yourself "why?"

thoughts on khmom
this thread contains spoilers for khmom, you have been warned
long story short; i loved it
i’ve always been indifferent about kairi. i don’t like her, but i don’t hate her either. honestly, it’s hard to have any sort of opinion on her when her presence in the story is severely lacking...especially compared to other female characters like aqua, xion and namine, who are all developed and well-rounded. but that’s the thing...it’s just kairi. fans like to jump to “nomura doesn’t know how to write female characters and will never give his female characters anything” when in reality, kairi is just poorly written. (i’d like to add that i’m not saying there aren’t any flaws in the way nomura writes his female characters, but this issue is exclusive to kairi as far as kh is concerned). i mean...even larxene and ava have more depth than kairi, and they haven’t even been featured in as many games as her. this is frustrating for those who already like her, and for those who want to like her. yet...it’s been kinda obvious that nomura a) didn’t really know what to do with her post kh1, and/or b) doesn’t particularly enjoy writing for her.
between kh1, kh2 and ddd, kairi showed only a smidgeon of her desire to fight for and help her friends. however, these moments were immediately countered by her waiting on the islands for sora and riku to return, her getting kidnapped, her getting manipulated by xehanort (and other orgxiii members)...or her getting killed. in kh3, her training was left in the hands of a wizard...not a keyblade master. and yes, even though time doesn’t exist in the secret forest, there’s only so much knowledge axel can pass onto kairi...and without a variety of enemies to fight, there’s only so much experience kairi can gain. she still had a lot to learn but was thrown into a war and expected to hold her own (she did good for what little time she had to prepare, though).
then..remind happened. apart from the lore bits that were added and the plot holes that were addressed, the rest of it felt like fanservice, to be quite honest. it gave the fans everything they had been screaming about since kh3′s initial release, including “kairi development/spotlight.” i’m using quotations because kairi was very inconsistent in remind. one moment she’s blocking xion’s attack and protecting axel (repaying him for protecting her earlier in the KG, regardless if she remembers it or not AND for plot reasons; getting to see xion’s face, all in all this feels good, this feels like natural progression for kairi, love that for her), then...she’s suddenly overpowering XEMNAS of all people after he literally slapped sora, roxas AND xion away like a couple of mosquitos...(thematically, it would’ve made more sense for it to have been xion or roxas getting the upper hand, and it would’ve been in character too since they’re both powerhouses...it just feels like this was compensation or an apology for kairi not doing anything in the base game when xemnas kidnapped her...WHICH STILL HAPPENS BTW making this interaction between xemnas and kairi feel insincere and unrewarding...i want natural progression for kairi, i don’t want her to come off like a mary sue), then later once sora and the guardians bring kairi back, she’s totally clueless as to what sora means by “kairi, are you ready for this?” when she can obviously see darkness swirling above their heads...yet, earlier, she immediately gave axel affirmation when he asks “you with me?” just as they’re about to fight saix and xion...her fight against xehanort was wonderful though, her gameplay suited her very well. i just want consistency and natural progression like the rest of the main cast experienced.
i feel like remind was kinda misleading when it comes to kairi...and a lot of fans just rolled with the hype straight into khmom, believing it to be this huge turning point for kairi...only to be let down by the ending.
however, khmom is a turning point for kairi...but it feels sincere, it feels deserved. it feels natural. she got to address her repressed childhood memories and confront an illusion of xehanort, the embodiment of her suffering. she acknowledged her weakness (in jp, sena translated it different) and how it put sora and everyone else in danger. she showed frustration and anger with the way xehanort used her and altered her fate. she charged in to fight and stand up for herself without a second thought. she’s more assertive and involved now than she ever has been, and her personality is finally showing through and she’s bursting with life. even when she tells riku she wants to go, and he denies her in order to keep her safe (i swear to god, if i see one more person call riku a misogynist for gently putting kairi down because she isn’t experienced enough and doesn’t have the power of waking needed to journey to a dangerous, unknown world i’m gonna lose my mind, sora was literally denied access to the realm of darkness all throughout kh3 because it was too dangerous and he hadn’t regained the power of waking and nobody said a damn thing about that), she acknowledges her lack of experience and tells riku with confidence that she’s going to train hard and get stronger so she can fight alongside sora AND riku...not just sora this time. this is the first time in a long time we’ve seen kairi so vocal and adamant about her training so she can grow stronger and not put herself or anyone else in harms way anymore...instead of her writing it down in an unsent letter or having the game telling us but hardly show it. she even tells yen sid she wants to train under aqua WHICH IS HUGE because not only is it a decision she makes herself (and actually voices this time instead of remaining passive), but she also utilizes magic and speed in combat...training under aqua will help her develop SO MUCH, in both character and skill. this also opens potential friendships between kairi and terra, as well as kairi and ventus.
kairi is finally...FINALLY starting her own journey, and even though her path is different from sora and riku’s right now (which, honestly, will be more beneficial for her in the long run), i have more faith now than ever that kairi’s path will cross with sora and riku’s again and she’ll have the strength she wants in order to stand by their side and support them.

Ogami Banri: Birthday 2020 Rabbit TV Part 1
Tsumugi: Yes, yes…! Thank you! We will definitely visit there!
T: ...Yes, please take care of it! Excuse me.
Banri: What did the owner from Chainana Town say?
T: Thanks to the presentation of Chainana Town that everyone in IDOLiSH7 participated in, it seems it’s in good condition!
B: Aaah….! The project that TRIGGER, Re:vale, and ZOOL also participated in huh.
T: Yes! And so it seems like they’ll send Town tickets to the agency so the managers should definitely come too, is what he said…
T: AH….! That reminds me, it’s almost September, Banri-san’s birthday…!
T: If we pretend that we are inspecting Chinana Town, maybe we can do a surprise without him noticing...!
B: I’m thankful for the tickets! Let’s go tell everyone.
T: I wonder if it’s okay to invite Anesagi-san and Okazaki-san again…
B: …………? Tsumugi-san? What’s wrong?
B: Oooi, ...Tsumugi-san.
T: Waah?!
B: Waah! You scared me. You finally noticed.
T: Wh-What is it?
B: What is it… Even though I was calling you, you were spacing out.
T: I-It’s nothing! Nothing!
B: Hahah. You don’t have to wave your hands so hard.
B: ...Are you hiding something from me?
T: Tha-...
[Door Opening Sound]
Tamaki: Heeeeey, Ban-chan, Manager!
Tamaki & Riku & Nagi: Good work!
Tamaki: ………..? What’s with this atmosphere?
Tsumugi: Heh?!
Riku: Were Banri-san and Manager fighting?!
Banri: Fighting?!
Nagi: OH, Banri. What were you doing with a lady?
Banri: No no, I wasn’t doing anything though?!
Tsumugi: ...Ah, right! It’s almost time to take Kinako on a walk.
Tsumugi: Banri-san, can I ask you to?
Banri: Eh? … Ah, I get it.
Banri: Then, I’ll be going out for a bit! If anything happens, contact me!
[Door Closing Sound]
Tamaki: ...What was that?
Riku: Manager, were you really fighting?!
Nagi: What in the world...
Tsumugi: I-It’s not, it’s not! I wanted to get Banri-san outside for a little just now…
Tsumugi: Can you call the other members?
IDOLiSH7: A surprise celebration at Chainana Town?!
Tsumugi: Yes! They will give us invitation tickets for the town out of their kindness, so I was thinking if we could celebrate Banri-san at that opportunity...
Riku: I see! I thought it was...
Iori: ? You thought what?
Riku: N-Nothing!
Yamato: Sounds good. We brought him to Taiwan last year was it?
Mitsuki: Right right! Called the other group’s managers too.
Tamaki: Isn’t it better to go as four again?
Nagi: Definitely please use the tickets and go!
Iori: Right. Combine Oogami-san’s celebration and the managers’ recreation.
Tsumugi: I-Is it fine…?
Riku: Of course! ...Ah, but, we want to do something for him too!
Iori: Right. I wonder if we can ask our senpais for help again.
Mitsuki: … Yeah! We’re the ones who know about Chainana Town right?
Mitsuki: How about making a celebration plan with everyone and making him walk the town as we plan?
Nagi: That’s wonderful, Mitsuki! It’s the best mission where we can celebrate Banri without him noticing it!
Yamato: Right, if that’s been decided, we have to contact those we did the job with.
Tsumugi: Thank you very much, everyone...!
Riku: Ah, I know Touma-san’s Rabbit Chat! Should I contact him if they can help us?
Yamato: … The guys from ZOOL didn’t know what we did last year so somehow I’m worried about RIku explaining it...
Yamato: Sou, you were pretty friendly with Midou right.
Sogo: Umm… I don’t think we’re exactly friendly but I know his contact information.
Yamato: S-Somehow I’m sorry. Then, can I ask you to be the one who contacts ZOOL?
Sogo: Got it. I’ll try contacting them.
Tamaki: Hey, Yama-san! I even know Isumin’s Rabbit Chat!
Iori: M-Me too.
Nagi: And Yamato also knows Natsume-shi’s Rabbit Chat right?
Yamato: No, why does everyone want to be the person to contact. I asked Sou, it’s been decided!
Yamato: So then, about TRIGGER...
Riku: Yes! Yes! I can do that one! I’ll tell Tenn-nii!
Mitsuki: You raised your hand like a kid on a class visitation day...
Yamato: Okay okay. It’s Riku.
Yamato: So Re:Vale is...
Mitsuki: That’s you right.
Yamato: ...No, there is an option to choose Ichi as a curveball.
Iori: What kind of ball is that. Nikaido-san, who is most friendly with Yuki-san, should do it.
Yamato: Ta-Tama...
Sogo: Wh-... Ta-Tamaki-kun? To send such a frank Rabbit Chat to our senpais is a very honorable thing isn’t it?!
Nagi: I got it. I was talking to Mr. Yuki about some new stuff from a foreign brand once, and then I received such thing from Mr. Momo...
Tamaki: Uwah, a Rabbit Chat spam isn’t it.
Sogo: Y-You guys…
Mitsuki: Kay, it’s been decided as Ossan.
Yamato: ...Re:vale is amazing in many ways...
Torao: ...What’s this? Sougo…?
Torao: Oi, you guys come over here. It’s a Rabbit Chat from Sougo.
Haruka: What? You friends?
Torao: Well, I know him from before. Here, look.
Toma: What what?
Toma: Good work. This is IDOLiSH7’s Ousaka. I’m contacting you about the job we did together at Chainana Town the other time.
Toma: ...Wow, it’s so formal! Is this really the Rabbit Chat from a friend?!
Torao: He’s like this.
Minami: Mido-san… Should I send you a slack chat one day?
Torao: A slack chat?
Minami: Like, sending my impression about the ramen place I went.
Torao: Don’t use my chat as a memo.
Minami: Oh, I was found out.
Haruka: ...So? What’s the main subject?
Torao: It seems he wants to gather the points that we would recommend about Chainana Town.
Toma: Heeh. …. Ah, they want to bring MEZZO’’s manager to those recommended places huh!
Haruka: Why?
Torao: Maybe they want to treat him to a surprise. Seems it’s his birthday.
Haruka: ...They celebrate Manager birthdays huh.
Toma: ...We can celebrate it anytime from now on right. Because we learned the feeling of wanting to deliver our emotions.
Haruka: ...Yeah...
Minami: To start, shall we send the report of the ramen shop?
Torao: Hahah. That might be good at first. ...To Ryo-san.
Toma: Anyways, this is something only we can do right! Let’s do it!
Toma: I’ll gather the recommendation of the palmistry place!
Haruka: Then… For me, the place I ate manju with Yotsuba.
Minami: For me, it’s about the spices.
Torao: I’ll pick the foot massage where I competed with Yaotome Gaku.
Toma: Right! I’ll send it to Tora after I gather the info, who’ll contact Sougo! It’s decided!
Tenn: ...Hey, you two. I got a Rabbit Chat from Riku...
Gaku: Ooh, what’s up with Nanase? Is he okay.
Ryuunosuke: Does Riku-kun seem okay lately?
Tenn: ...Is Riku your secret brother or something?
Gaku: What are you saying. I’m an only child.
Ryuunosuke: I might be happy if Riku-kun called me his older brother!
Tenn: ...Going back to the main subject, he was asking if we would participate in celebrating MEZZO’’s manager’s birthday this year too.
Gaku: Oh, the one that Anesagi went with last year huh!
Tenn: Yeah, that. Seems like they want us to make a recommended plan where we introduce Chinana Town.
Tenn: Inviting Anesagi-san, Ogami-san, Takanashi-san, and Okazaki-san and making a tour based on the plan would be nice, is what he said.
Gaku: That sounds good! It’s a recreational trip for the managers combined with Ogami-san’s celebration huh.
Ryuunosuke: Not just Anesagi-san, we’re taken care of by everyone huh.
Tenn: Right. We should do it too.
Ryuunosuke: Yeah! Plus if we’re talking about the Chainana Town job, we enjoyed it a lot too! I have a lot of things I want to recommend!
Tenn: Fufuh. I’ll gather the info about the cafes. I have to think carefully to not overlap with Izumi Mitsuki.
Gaku: I’ll do a foot massage! The competition with Mido was hyped.
Ryuunosuke: Um, I’ll do the photo booth that I went to with Yamato-kun! It might be fun for Anesagi-san and the others to wear costumes too?
Gaku: Seems like we can gather it quickly. Let’s hurry and contact Nanase!
Yuki: Listen, Momo. I got a Rabbit Chat from Yamato-kun.
Momo: Eeeh?! Yamato?! That’s unusual, what happened?
Momo: Perhaps, could it be a Rabbit Chat about how even though he wants to be nicer to Yuki, he can’t be honest…?!
Yuki: I wouldn’t be talking to Momo about such a Rabbit Chat now.
Momo: ….Wait Darling, what do you mean?! Hiding something from Momo-chan, how do you expect it to go with Yamato…?!
Yuki: This, read it.
Momo: Wh-What is it…..!
Momo: ...Invite Okarin too, want to treat the managers in Chainana Town…?
Yuki: Yeah. It’s MEZZO’’s manager’s, Ban’s, birthday so it’s an invitation for Okarin.
Momo: ...Like last year’s Taiwan trip...
Yuki: Yeah yeah. Because we had a job at Chainana Town. It seems they want to gather the points we recommend from that time.
Momo: I seeeee…! If it’s that kind of thing, it’s totally okay! Momo-chan will work hard to gather the info!
Yuki: Hahah. Momo introduced the place where you could judge antiques right.
Momo: Yeah! With Nagi huh! The underground atmosphere helped, it was super fun!
Momo: Yuki was cooking rice porridge with Riku!
Yuki: Yeah. Riku-kun mixed it for me.
Momo: That’s nice. I want to mix rice porridge with Yuki too! Should we make some as a present for Okarin?!
Yuki: Do you know how to make it?
Momo: Uuum… Boil the rice with water…?
Yuki: … This needs practice huh.
Momo: I-I got it. I’ll start with catching a cold so I can eat as much as rice porridge for practice!
Yuki: *Chuckle* Momo, you are trying to practice too seriously.
Yuki: Anyways, Ban, Kaoru-chan, Maneko-chan… And for Okarin to have fun too, let’s gather the recommended points.
Momo: Yeah!
Momo: I wish this will be the best experience for everyone!

Chapter 2: Ponderings of the Lost Hero
Quadratum
After opening his eyes, Sora suddenly leapt to his feet.  He summoned his Keyblade and surveyed his surroundings.
Fortunately for him, he wasn’t currently in any danger.  But much to his dismay, he was not in a chapel in Radiant Garden about to kiss the love of his life.  Instead, he was standing next to a large dumpster in an alleyway between two tall buildings.
‘I must’ve been so tired from running that I fell asleep when I stopped to rest,’ he thought as he dismissed his Keyblade.
Sora’s current location was hardly an ideal place to take a nap.  But the Gigas and the various adversaries that inhabited this world had kept him on the run since his arrival.  Also, even though he had yet to encounter him again, he feared that Yozora would find him and try to ‘save’ him again.  So, he couldn’t be picky about where or when he could sleep.
It still mystified him that he was now in a world that he had originally thought only existed in a video game.  When that girl in the Final World had mentioned she was waiting for a Yozora to find her, he had assumed that she had been talking about someone with the same name.  But his encounter with Yozora and the very real existence of this world had certainly raised a few questions.
‘I may have been here for a long time now, but I still can’t believe it. How can this world be real and also be a video game in a world back in my Realm?  And why is ending up here the penalty for misusing the Power of Waking?’
But the biggest question was the one that had bothered him the most.  ‘And will I ever be able to leave?’
Sora’s thoughts now turned what he just had witnessed in his sleep.  ‘That was some dream.  The first dream I’ve been able to have since I got here.  But I wonder if it wasn’t just a dream.  What if it was a premonition?  A vision of the future?  Dreams can do that, right?’
Sora began to pace around the alley.  ‘It certainly looked and felt like one.  I mean, we all did look a little older.  Not to mention I saw that Pinocchio wasn’t a puppet and the Beast wasn’t, well, the Beast anymore.  And there were so many guests at the wedding that I didn’t know.’
He thought back to the part of the dream where he walked down the aisle toward the altar.  Now that he was awake, he realized that there were indeed quite a lot of unrecognized faces among those he knew.
‘Let’s see.  When I saw the group from Atlantica in the crowd, Ariel was human again even though the last time I saw her, she was a mermaid.  Also, it seems that some magic was needed for Flounder and King Triton to attend since they were hovering in the air as if they were still underwater. And then there was that girl who resembled Ariel but with black hair.  Did Ariel and Prince Eric get married and have a daughter?’
‘It also looked like there had been some big changes in Arendelle too. Anna had been wearing an outfit similar to what Elsa had been wearing when Donald, Goofy and I had first met her. And speaking of Elsa, she was not only wearing a different snow gown and had let her hair go, but she also looked more at peace with herself then I last remembered.  Plus, she also had a small blue lizard on her shoulder.  I wonder if she’s taken on Rapunzel’s taste in animal sidekicks.’
‘Woody, Buzz and the rest of the toys we met were there and they had all been enlarged to human size.  And there were some other toys with them, probably their friends they’d been separated from when the Organization split their world.  Like that redhaired cowgirl and that woman with the pink bow in her blonde hair and dressed in blue.  Strangely, she looked like she was made of porcelain which is an unusual material for a toy.  They both seemed to be pretty close to Buzz and Woody respectively.  Also, there was that unusual toy that looked more like a child’s art project.’
‘Little Chef was definitely in some unfamiliar company.  He was with that redheaded man with that woman with brown hair as well as that older man with glasses.  And there were also two other rats: one with gray fur and that pudgier one with brown fur.  Maybe they were Little Chef’s relatives.’
‘I’m glad that Cloud finally made it home because he was among Leon, Yuffie and the rest of the committee and it seemed that he and Tifa had hooked up. And they weren’t the only ones. Leon had his arm around a woman with black hair and Aerith was with a man who looked a little like Cloud only with black hair.  Even Cid apparently had a date: that woman with auburn hair and glasses.  And then there were the new faces: that big, muscular guy whose hand appeared to be made of metal and the little girl in pink on his shoulder as well as that strange catlike creature with red fur.
‘It also looks like I ended up in meeting them in Shibuya after all since I also saw Neku and his friends there as well.  But there were some missing from that group.  Rhyme and that boy she called Beat was there.  But Joshua wasn’t.  And neither was Shiki.  Instead, there was only that girl with brown hair and glasses.  I hope nothing bad happened to them.’
‘There were even some unfamiliar faces among Queen Minnie, Daisy, and the rest I remember from Disney Castle.  There was that unusual pair who looked like a rabbit and a cat with a whole bunch of little rabbits with them.  And then there was that female duck who looked like she could be Donald’s twin sitting near his nephews.   There was also someone who looked like a younger version of Goofy accompanied by a female dog with red hair and apparently, some who looked like a younger version of Pete.’
Then Sora realized it was not just the unfamiliar guests that stood out in the dream.  His own thoughts during the dream contained information that he had not known before.
‘How could I have known why Xion looks the way she does?  And though Master Yen Sid mentioned that Aqua saved Kairi long ago, my thoughts implied that she played a big role in our meeting. I’m sure I would’ve learned it all if I hadn’t disappeared.  But is it possible for your dream self to know something that you don’t?’
Sora leaned against the wall of the building and gazed out into the empty street.  There was still no sign of incoming trouble.  He was glad that nothing had shown up during his pondering on account that he still had more to do.
‘All in all, it certainly was quite a show.  But still, I can’t help but wonder why a dream like that would come to me now?  And if it really was a vision of the future, does it mean that I’m going to make it back home?  And Kairi and I really are destined to live happily ever after?’ Sora thought as a feeling of hope came to him.
Unfortunately, the hope faded as a troubling thought took over.  ‘Or maybe it’s a future that isn’t going to happen. Maybe it’s nothing more than extra punishment for breaking rules I never knew existed.’
Sora thought back to when he returned to the Final World after Xehanort’s defeat. He recalled how Chirithy had told him about what he was risking using the Power of Waking to restore Kairi.  As he remembered that conversation, a feeling of anger at the unfairness of it all came to him.
“I never meant to break any nature taboos.  I didn’t even know they existed.  I thought I was just rescuing my friends from that Lich Heartless.  I didn’t know it would end up rewriting time and giving us another chance to fight.  And I especially didn’t know that it was the wrong thing to do,” he said out loud not caring if anybody heard him.
That’s when Sora realized something.  “If I’m being punished for doing that, does that mean that we were supposed to lose no matter what we did?  Well, to whoever or whatever decided that, I’m sorry but if following your rules meant letting Xehanort win after everything he did, then I was happy to break them.”
His thoughts then turned to Kairi.  “And I definitely was not going to leave the girl I love more than anything in the worlds as she was: shattered, split and scattered.  If there was any chance to save her, I would have taken it no matter what the consequences.  Because a world without Kairi is one I never want to live in.”
That’s when Sora realized the sad irony.  ‘And yet, a world without her or any of my friends is exactly where I ended up anyway.  I guess the punishment really did fit the crime in the end.  And as if that wasn’t enough, it seems I’m now being tormented with visions of a future that may never be.’
Then a feeling of determination came over Sora. ‘No. I can’t think like that.  I won’t ever think like that.  If whatever forces sent me here sent that dream to punish me further, then I’m not going to give them the satisfaction.’
Sora gazed up at the dark sky and cried out, “It’s not going to work!  You hear me?  It won’t work!  Instead, I’m going to use what I saw in that dream to further fuel my desire to get back to my home!  Back to my friends!  Back to her so we can have a future like that in the dream!”
The young hero then reached into the pocket of his jacket nearest his heart. He pulled out a folded piece of paper which he then unfolded revealing the lucky charm that Kairi had given to him before he and Riku left for the Mark of Mastery Exam.
Taking the charm into his hand, he clutched it to his heart.  ‘We may be worlds apart, Kairi.  But our hearts are still connected.  I realized that when I was suddenly able to fight for you. Even though I didn’t know exactly what was going on, especially how somehow Xehanort was still around, I knew you needed me.  And I know that connection will bring us back together someday.’
“They can take your world.  They can take your heart.  Cut you loose from all you know.  But if it’s your fate, then every step forward will always be a step closer to home. And it will be my fate.  And whatever that dream’s true purpose was, I will do all that I can to make it our fate, Kairi.  That’s a promise and I always keep my promises to you.  It’s my oath to return,” Sora said out loud.
After gazing once more around for any sign of trouble and seeing that there was none in spite of his earlier outbursts, he figured that he had time to do one more thing before moving on to a new location in the city.  Leaning against the wall with the lucky charm in one hand, he then looked at the paper that it had been wrapped in.
He began to read the words written on the paper.  Words that no matter how many times he read had always managed to touch his heart because they came from the one who his heart belonged to.
“Thinking of you, wherever you are.”

On the edge of one of Quadratum’s tall buildings, a man in a black coat gazed downward into the alley.  He watched the spiky-haired brunette boy read from his letter.  Under his hood, he smirked and let out an amused chuckle.
“You might wish to keep it down, Sora.  You never know who or what may be listening here in Quadratum.  But it sounds like that was a pretty good dream you had with the way you were going on about making it a reality.  Your determination to get back to your home and your devotion to your girl are pretty admirable.  They will serve you well when the time comes for you to play your role,” said the Master of Masters.
The very first Keyblade master gazed up to the sky. As he had done before, he brought his hands together into a heart shape and held them up so he could view the full moon through them.
“Soon, all the pieces will fall into place, Sora. My apprentices.  The Union leaders and Dandelions who still exist.  The Darknesses.  Yozora.  Your friend Riku and the rest of your Guardians of Light over on the other side including your little girlfriend.  All of them have their roles to play in my grand plan and once they are fulfilled, we will finally see the absolute end of the true Keyblade War,” he declared.
Then his voice took on an ominous tone.  “But after all is said and done, will all your devotion pay off?  Will the dreams of a ‘happily ever after’ with your beloved Kairi come true?  Or will the fates conspire to pull you apart once again? And if that should happen, will it be the ultimate separation, one that is impossible to undo?”
The Master then parted his hands and shrugged his shoulders.  “Who knows? I may be the author of a very large compendium of future events.  But the Book of Prophecies never accounted for everything. So, in the end, who can really say?”
The Master then returned his gaze back to the young Keyblade wielder in the alley.  Sora had finished reading his letter and was now staring to leave.  The Master’s gaze followed the boy as he headed out into the city.
“Things may have taken a… slight turn from my original plans.  But the more I think about it, it actually makes things more interesting.  After ages of watching events unfold the way I had foreseen; I’ve almost forgotten what it’s like to actually be surprised.  And I have a feeling, Sora, that you are going to be full of surprises.”

Notes from the Mad Doctor:
Went rather heavy on the internal monologuing in this chapter, huh?
Sharp Disney and Square Enix fans will likely know the unfamiliar guests Sora was talking about.  Feel free to let me know if you did recognize all of them or some of them.
I think we can understand the anger Sora’s expressing here.  After everything he did to protect the worlds from Xehanort, this is his ultimate reward?  I know he doesn’t regret doing what he did to save everyone especially Kairi. But I wouldn’t blame him for being upset.
Although I have mentioned him in my other stories, this is the first time the Master of Masters has actually shown up.  I really hope I wrote his mysterious yet eccentric demeanor well.  And I have a feeling, given the Master’s presence in Quadratum, that Sora’s arrival in this world was no coincidence.  Then again, is anything a coincidence in Kingdom Hearts?
I give my thanks to whoever reads this chapter.
I also give my special thanks to @fandomchanger, @dreaming-in-seams, and @sakuranekogirl for their likes on the previous chapter as well as @sokaiweek, @phoenix-downer, and @the-secret-place for reblogging the previous chapter.
The next chapter still needs work so it should be posted on Thursday if all goes well.
Comments, likes and reblogs are much appreciated!  Stay tuned for we’ll be dropping in on the other half of our favorite couple next chapter!

If Strelitzia truly is the star we talked to tho that confirms my theory that
a. stars might not see themselves as stara
b. stars in the final world go through cycles of being asleep, being awake, and in between states. Hence why some stars were silent, some were aware, and some seemes caught in mumbling and thoughts.
c. Sora is likely in the Final World as a star
d. the reason Riku and Kairi and no one else found him was because before the Fairy Godmother made them able to see the stars (maybe you can only see them if you are dead?) they thought there was literally nothing in the final world (as they commented)
e. So it's likely Sora's heart is deep asleep, and that Quadratum (or similar worlds if there are more) are like sleeping worlds for those in the afterlife. They probably need to wake Sora up before figuring out how to bring him back at all.
The alternative is that having been erased from existence Sora has been yeeted directly in the dream part of the afterlife and there might be no trace of him in the Final World for real, but I do think it would make sense for him to be one of the silent stars, sleeping away and dreaming.
