Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the olympians - how I would depart from the source material and write the first scene

the beginning of sea of monsters is def the least iconic of the books imho (aswell as the shortest book) so I propose an addition. We start with annabeth narration & flashbacks much like Percy’s in s1 ep1 & the book.

The books are from Percy pov but the show is not & this is the perfect chance to finally hear annabeths inner story in her own words as we never have since HOO is written in 3rd POV not first. We have many scenes from the book to take from, I think this will also help with the telling not showing issue some ppl have w/ s1 so far (even tho I don’t rlly agree) as we can see little annabeth rather than have her just relay it to Percy.

Short scenes I would include:

1. Annabeth building towers with cards/ playing w/ magnus. This scene is lifted from magnus chase as I am an unrepentant magnas chase stan. This will obv show her lifelong passion for architecture aswell as being a rare happy memory for her. We can do a similar tactic they have done for the di Angelo’s, hearing magnus but not seeing him or just seeing the back of his head or hands. This scene can also have her father arguing with his siblings to show how her being a half blood has already caused extreme tension in her mortal family for the danger it brings.

2. Next we’d continue showing the tension in her family as she feels her father growing increasingly neglectful and her negative relationship with her step family. This also shows if there is any discrepancy with Beth’s perception (narration) and reality (visuals).

3. Next, The spiders… the show owes us some spiders as we know so this is perfect chance to depict annabeths arachnophobia by showing her being attacked by them in her bedroom.

4. Finally, 7 yo Annabeth running away leading into 13 yo her running away again now looking for Percy in NY leaving her where she first appears in the book.

5.Alternatively before cutting to Leahbeth we get one more scene of her meeting Thalia and Luke, and him giving her the dagger. I think this scene should be shown regardless to introduce Thalia’s actress (even tho younger actors would be needed for Luke & annabeth) as she appears in the final scene.

+ More scenes dispersed throughout the season like we have gotten for young Percy. Such as the family trio meeting Grover, them getting kidnapped and escaping the cyclops, Luke giving Beth the dagger, Thalia taking her last stand and being tree-ified etc.

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR OFMD S2 EP6-7 under the cut

Ok, that was A LOT. I have so many feelings but no coherence so i'm gonna do this bullet point form but def not in order, just in order of me remembering wtf happened lol

-IZZY AND WEE JOHN IN DRAG!!!!! Wee John looked STUNNING with that Divine-esque appearance and Izzy had that transmasc drag king kind of thing going on (iykyk) that made me love him even more

-Izzy singing LA VI EN ROSE took me tf out!!! i'm glad he got to finish it after the *ahem* distractions bc Con's voice is so beautiful I could listen to it forever. We better get it in the album!!! Also someone posted the lyrics translated and i cannot get over the lyrics:

"It's him for me,/And me for him, for life/He told me, he swore to me, for life"

-But not only was he singing the second half had fucking gentlebeard doing the dirty in the next room asdfghjkl which.....was hot, ngl. The passion was electrifying. I'm sorta glad we didnt rlly see it with everything that happened after bc it all kinda left a bad taste in my mouth.

Also Stede Bonnet canonically gets turned on by violence confirmed

-What else happened in ep 6 cause all i can think of is drag and singing and sex-

-oh yeah there was that shortlived sexually-charged torturer who i distinctly recall him being in another scene in the promo so unless that got the cut perhaps he's not dead...?

-Lupete missing all the action cause they were doing the nasty all night lmao so real

-Stede...Stedey boy, can I call u that? Now i'm gonna say this nicely, but WHAT THE FUCK DUDE? Stede in his white guy w undue confidence era fr. Zheng Yi Sao was so right for what she did truly

-But in all seriousness i feel like this whole thing in ep 7 was such a parallel to s1 but also a very necessary bit of conflict in their journey together that was bound to happen. THey want different things and neither is wrong or right for that. Stede did react poorly tho but like he just had sex w the love of his life, his first man, and Ed the very next day is like "aight i'm out". I'd be pissed too. After killing someone which we know is a big trigger for him historically.

But Ed also had a valid reaction. He's wanted to retire for a while and stede knows this but it hasn't seemed to have sunk in quite yet. He fears that Stede only sees Blackbeard and...its fair of him to have that impression tbh. These are two messy, traumatized dudes who have never had a real relationship and there's gonna be bumps. I hope we get s3 so we can better explore that like Djenks wants.

-Izzy barging in on GB and the docking joke. love his cringefail ass.

What I think of Stranger Things ships:

Jargyle - Love it. Friendship, boyfriends, whatever, their dynamic is so fun

Steddie - Not into it into it if yk what I mean but they're cute. Will actively spend 5 hours scrolling through the tag

Ronance - NEEDS TO HAPPEN. MUST GET MORE CONTENT.

Stobin - Um she's lesbian?

Stonathan - Honestly I see the idea here but I feel like the potential left around S3

Rockie - No. Sorry, but this is boring and there's no build up to it. The Duffers were lazy on this one.

Jancy - Cute. They had a really nice dynamic in S2-3 but I honestly think they should break up. Like a nice, mutual thing.

Harringrove - What? No??? It's fun and hot and steamy for a bit then you remember Billy is a racist, homophobic asshole.

Hopper x Yuri - No????? Where did this come from?

Hopper x Antonov - No comment. Honestly I can sorta see it.

Jopper - Endgame for me.

Boyce - Really sweet, nice relationship, but it came down to right person, wrong time.

Byler - ENDGAME. FAVORITE SHIP. IF THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN THE DUFFERS ARE FUCKING HOMOPHOBIC.

Elmax - ANOTHER ENDGAME SHIP. I really love their dynamic.

Lumax - Endgame but *less intense*

Elumax - Honestly I really love the idea of all three of them being in a loving relationship

Byclair - Actually really cool. I feel like Lucas could date pretty much anyone in the party, and he def had a crush on Will in S1

Wheelclair - Don't really like it as much as Byclair but the three of them in a poly relationship would be nice

Duzie - No opinion. I thought it was cuter in S3

Henderhop - I actually really like the idea of this

Dustin x Lucas - Past S2, it doesn't really work. Cute tho

Dustin x Erica - I am a firm believer that Erica is lesbian but I can see why people ship this. HOWEVER, Erica is 11 years old guys and should not be shipped with a teen.

ofmd season 2 was a bit sucks lmao... i really don't get what was the point of building up jim and olu like that just to end up shoving them into separate relationships which had nearly no development at all. i thought they were sweet in s1 and def had a lot of potential, but then they're just shoved aside for no reason and without any explanation?? what was that about. Anyway,,, jim and archie don't work because they're almost the same character, and neither do olu and zheng. ed and stede had charm in s1 but they also fell flat in s2. To me. like they never really work through their problems they just jump around into situations and everything gets magically resolved for them. izzy is perhaps one of the only characters that was given enough depth. yeah i think overall the whole thing was just off. like the tone of this season is also so weird compared to the previous one it just goes from serious and dramatic to almost comically silly and ends up being too messy for its own good. SAD..... well there's other shows.

There’s a thread on Reddit about Joyce being a bad mother to Jonathan and someone replied that parentification is a concept invented by privileged classes and honestly I agree. I know you use this concept and I respect that, but it always makes me feel uneasy, for some ppl, it’s used to blame the victim, especially poor parents and even more frequently mothers. Joyce isn’t a bad mother, it’s all due to social conditions, not psychological/pathological ones.

First, thanks for this ask; it raises great points and that thread is interesting. The complicated truth imo is Joyce can still be a great mother who is trying her best under very difficult circumstances and Jonathan is parentified (I also say helps raise Will or becomes a co-parent to him), but parentification imo is a psychological term that still explains what Jonathan experiences. He experiences it first and foremost bc Lonnie is an abusive deadbeat that leaves his family and clearly gives them no financial support and the opposite of emotional support. During Lonnie’s abuse, you get the sense Jonathan and Joyce tried to shield Will a lot from it. Jonathan was already getting worried about Will’s well being and doing things like removing legos from his little brother’s nose bc he was taking care of him as a sibling and then some while his father was trash and his mother was in an abusive relationship and suffers from anxiety. Once Lonnie leaves, Jonathan very clearly helps raise Will in both material and emotional ways—i.e. is parentified—he does things ranging from building Castle Byers with him (as a substitute father), he makes breakfast, gets him to school, he takes extra shifts to pay the bills, he gives him a lot of emotional support, etc. Also with Joyce, he knows things like where her keys are, he worries about her anxiety and mental health and tries to calm her. He goes shopping for a coffin when he thinks his little brother is dead and his mom isn’t okay.

But all of those things are parentification by circumstances. He’s put in a role beyond being a sibling, and he has to take on an adult role earlier than he should and so has to grow up early. It’s not just a term of “privilege” imo as it refers to the role he assumes and the emotional weight and pressure it carries, even if it happens due to a complex web of circumstances and even unfair necessity to both Joyce and Jonathan.

Joyce can still be a great mom and Jonathan has been parentified—which is weird and difficult. And she has been an sweet and incredible parent to Will and Jonathan. As a single Mom she’s also had to work holidays, take extra shifts to make ends meet. She loves them so much. In s1, she tells Jonathan that he’s too self reliant and reminds him he’s not alone, and she’s there for him. She also has a lot of her own issues and trauma.

You can still have a parent love their kid and try to do their best and have the kid be parentified. I def feel strongly on this one as someone who was parentified but is also v close with my parents (I was, thru various circumstances, put in charge of my mom’s depression and looking after her when I was way too young). Anyway, when I first watched s1, I was shocked by the way the show nailed what that’s like through Joyce and Jonathan’s relationship, which is very complicated, but also has lots of love (and also stress and guilt and trauma on both sides). It’s amazing to me that they wrote the experience of parentification that well in s1 and then just dropped emotional complexity like that for such superficiality. It’s like they have no idea what they managed to capture in that relationship and I can’t believe they took such complex material and p much haven’t had them speak since s1.

The “did you tell JJ” scene still pisses me off because why have that if they weren’t gonna mention it at all later in the first season or even do anything with jiara in season 1 and 2 it’s like the writers had all these jiara scenes with so much chemistry but still made her go with Pope??? I really don’t understand what happened like if they would have kept building up JJ and Kie from season 1 it wouldn’t have felt so jarring to have them get together so quick in season 3 and to this day I can’t believe the pates said they never planned on Jiara happening like what??? There is no platonic explanation for that scene, but also I think whatever they say they were doing in s1, they were def feeling it out at first. That's why you have the Johnkie blunder, and that's why Pokie feels like it comes out of left field, because up until episode 6, everything felt up in the air, and even then, episode 7 was very pro-jiara. Honestly I always say this but I feel like pokie's entire set-up and relationship were jiara-coded.

I disagree though, I don't think s3 jiara felt that jarring. They could've paced it better for sure, but the real buildup started early in s2, and I think the implication was that the coastal venture and poguelandia changed everything, which they did.

Whatever happened though, I'm happy they kept that scene, it's one of my favs :')

heyy, what do you think could save sweet home? what do you think should happen in s3? people are saying that s2 was basically just a huge build up for s3, they’ve thrown so many things at us, im unsure how they’re going to unravel them in the next season..i personally just hope the focus is more on the main characters.

true it def felt like filler and that it didn't really matter i'm sure you could watch s3 without having watched s2 and still know what the fuck is going on.

the main plot means nothing to me and i'm clinging onto the need, want, and desire for eunyoo and eunhyuk to reunite in s3ep1 and from that on have lots of screentime together and their dynamic will be as crazy and insane as it was in s1 especially now with eunhyuk being a monster it will be even more interesting to see how that will work out. and the 2 of them with hyunsoo and idk if chan young will be back so eunyoo's harem will be complete but yeah if they don't focus as much as possible on eunhyuk+eunyoo together they can keep it. literally don't care as long as they don't fuck that aspect and relationship of the story up.

i want a hug and i want angst and happy moments and sad moments and everything a bit.

feel like in the end they will sacrifice hyunsoo so everyone else can live and some shite in that way but yeah keeping the expectations low and don't really care for anything else.

Thanks all so far for enjoying the oneshot 🥹 I’ve been sad that I haven’t been able to publish things regularly lately so it felt fulfilling again to finally share something again!!

I had a lot of fun with 104th’s Top Cadet — I tested something where I intentionally backed off of descriptions/scenery, doing less than I typically end up doing, and instead spent more time building dialogue which was really enjoyable for me. In hindsight I always felt like dialogue scenes in, for example, Microcosmos could have been built even more so I’ve been challenging myself lately in all my WIPs to get used to giving dialogue and conversations a little more time and care (without going overboard).

I find when I read long fanfics, I tend to breeze through when there’s too much detail/description/etc and my eyes aim for dialogue to push through story, so that’s probably another reason. Especially in action-centered scenes, or scenes that are supposed to lead to something else!

It was even fun to study things like canon dialogue between Levi and Erwin, or Erwin to soldiers to get things right. For Mikasa, I tend to write her a bit more lively and expressive and sweet (bc that’s how I envision she grows to be tbh) but sticking to her stoic and fierce personality was good — especially for this timeframe when she doesn’t know Levi yet and doesn’t trust him.

A lot of why I ship them is built around S3 and onwards, post-war especially, because of the mutual quiet respect and admiration they have for each other, and I’ve gotten used to reading and writing that type of dynamic. So it’s fun and almost exciting to go back to the beginning where Levi is absolutely annoyed with her, and Mikasa sees him the same 🤣 It’s so different than what they became! But I love it because it emphasizes how much they HAVE grown. I think I wrote this recently but Mikasa’s relationship with Levi is her most transformed relationship amongst anyone else in the series.

With Eren, it’s kinda just… the same. Their moments we see in Marley S4 are exactly the same as S1 episode 1/when they’re children in Shiganshina. There’s no built trust. There’s no build of romance, even. After the “I’ll wrap that scarf around you as many times as you want, now and forever” moment, their dynamic still didn’t change. (I started writing more about this but deleted it bc this isn’t supposed to be an analysis post LMAO)

Anyway, all that to say 🤣 I tried to venture off and do something new outside of fluff or smut I usually write for one-shots! Hope you enjoyed the action, completely staying in Levi POV, dialogue, staying more in character, etc. i have so many more WIPs I hoped to publish before Japan but it’ll likely have to wait 😩 Will def be doing some brainstorming on the planes to make it easier to start writing again when I get back hehee

okay ik you’ve been disappointed in hotd’s depiction of aegon and you’re against the idea of him ‘going darker’ so to speak in s2- if i can play devil’s advocate, im actually super stoked for it (you’re welcome to delete and move on, it’s your blog and you didn’t ask for contradictory opinions! im encroaching here lol. you’re def not required to even read this at all)

obviously hotd has made aegon the ‘villain’ so to speak (there’s a hundred arguments to that and i agree with a lot of them but from the pov of a casual showfan, he’s a rapist and he likes to watch little kids fight 🤷‍♀️) i think the time skips in s1 did a lot of damage to building relationships beyond the primary rhaenicent/daemyra, and the greens kids suffered the most. we see glimpses of aegon/aemond’s relationship, but helaena never gets to speak to either of her brothers (l m a o) and alicent gets limited screentime with them as adults. daeron is, well, non existent. what we get of aegon’s role is that he seems to be the troublemaker/problem child- the way alicent reacts with dyana suggested (to me) that this isn’t a first time occurrence, and it’s more of her being at the end of her rope than experiencing the shock that her son is capable of this.

the show doesn’t do a great job of balancing the actual depiction of aegon we see on screen (he’s kind of a large adult failson) vs the one other characters tell us about. i understand the reasons why, but it creates this disjointed feeling of the sad/rejected boy vs this monster other people are trying to say he is. i think when we see the coronation, and he receives this uninterrupted love for the first time in his life, it’s gonna be a joffrey-esque situation at least in terms of this unstable manchild getting absolute power. it’s going to change his dynamics with his family for sure- ik you’ve talked about alicent/aegon and aegon/aemond roles, and tbh im excited to see him claim that power in those relationships. i think it’ll be a large shift from s1, because now he has the idea of acceptance and admiration from the public, and his own family has given him the crown! they’ve doomed themselves to his actions in a way

anyway this is long 😔 i get people dislike how he’s written in the show (totally understandable!!) but with what we’re given i must confess i can’t wait to see him go nutso, especially after blood & cheese. the idea of the greens infighting but still being a force to contend with in the war at whole is delicious to me lmao!!

I'm actually not opposed to him going darker, I just think there are more interesting ways of doing that, ways that don't involve further brutalizing two female characters that already have it pretty rough canonically. There's no need to add to that - it would kind of feel like what D&D did to Sansa by giving her Jeyne Poole's storyline with Ramsey, after escaping KL and Joffrey's abuse. Just unnecessary and cheap shock value. For whomever is interested, I went into further detail here, here and here.

I do agree with this. On screen he behaves in a certain way, off-screen we are told he is different.

My main gripe with this is that I don't want another Joffrey. What would be the point in that? :)) They shied away from turning Alicent into a Cersei-clone, why turn Aegon into a Joffrey-clone? They don't even have the same origin story - yes, both were ignored by their fathers, but Joffrey never craved his mother's affection, because he already had it; Cersei doted on him and was very indulgent. Joffrey never had the sword of Damocles hanging over his head because there was another claimant endangering his life. Also, Joffrey is not really shown to be particularly awful towards Myrcella either; she's more or less nonplussed by his existence.

Even when Cersei admonished him and he had his power trips, he never really did anything to her, it was just posturing. He didn't really have the balls to go against his mother, because deep down he knew she was always on his side and there wasn't anything to gain by that? As soon as things got tough, he was the first to cower behind her skirts. Furthermore, Joffrey's entire power comes from the Lannisters - how is he going to piss off Lannister Girl #1 and, by extension, Lannister Patriarch #1? It's very much a case of "fuck around and find out". When Tywin came back to KL, he made quick work of containing Joffrey and there was fuck-all "the king" could do about it. All of Joffrey's awfulness is extended outside his family, apart from Tyrion - although, we should note that he doesn't always have the guts to go against Tyrion all the time either and is even disciplined by his uncle a few times.

Similarly, it doesn't really make sense for the Hightowers to be such pushovers because Aegon decides to act like a prick. Aegon's entire powerbase comes from Oldtown. Yes, Aegon has an advantage over Joffrey because he has a dragon, but he can very much be locked in his room or not allowed entry to the Dragonpit if he acts like a little shit. And what would he even do with his dragon anyway - burn his family members? Come on. There should be Hightower guards sworn to Otto and Alicent swarming the place, just like Cersei had her personal army of Lannister soliders sent by Daddy. Anything else doesn't make sense. Erryk and Arryk have already manhandled Aegon, Aemond gave him a black eye, Criston would backhand him so fast if he were mean to Alicent?

I mean, I'm not in the writing room, and they ultimately can write whatever they want and bend themselves over backwards explaining it, but they've set Aegon up so far to be a different character, so why not act like it? And, if not, at least respect the internal logic of the fictional setting, because I don't see why Aegon should have unfettered access to power right now either. He has literally zero allies at court and no network of support apart from what his Hightower relatives have built for him.

No worries, I don't even disagree with you on principle - I'd like to see ~the darkness, but there are more novel ways to go about it rather than abusing his family members (if that's the way they even intend to go! bc all of this is speculation anyway LOL). I don't mind him scuffling it out with Aemond, but I would hate to see the greens' love and loyalty for one another erased for some gratuitous cliche villain plotline.

Not to mention that the other side is most likely going to be Sainted Rhaenyra as the most wonderful mother to Hero Jace, who loves & respects & would die for her + everyone mourning Rhaenys as a war hero, loving (grand)mother, dutiful wife and queen-who-never-was, everyone vowing to avenge her. Meanwhile Alicent is going to be painted again like the most failed mother in the world, daily regretting her decision to crown her son and weeping after Rhaenyra, the most capable queen that ever was robbed.

And I just don't think that would be a v good story. 😫

Just finished sahmaran and yeah the pace stays the same till the last 30 minutes of the last episode. ig because they stretched it out for two seasons unnecessarily, s1 is just kind of an introduction

i don't have high hopes for s2 (if it even gets one) bc this season was just overwhelmingly meh to me. even the plot feels like a very predictable and boring spin on a folklore. i def agree that it feels like an introduction but i think they could've done a lot more world building in terms of the half human half snakes and their society(?). they were so cryptic abt so much of it for such a pointlessly long time bc. we know they're all half snakes????? it would make sense if they were trying to build mystery around these creatures if we know nothing abt the plot but it's in the plot description IT'S IN THE TITLE!!!!!!! the pacing sucked ass, it killed the show imo. like how do u only have 1hr worth of content in an 8 ep show? maybe the only redeemable aspect was the cinematography (kind of funny how they slapped a yellow filter on there bc its set in a dingy little town?village? but sometimes it also added to the ominous, slightly eerie atmosphere so im giving it a pass.)

i mean, even if it barely has a plot, there were no interesting characters or relationships either (only relationship that was mildly interesting was btw Şahsu and her grandfather). romance was boring (only thing they bonded over was having dead mothers), the other dude who was interested in her was also boring (for someone so cautious and guarded and how did she keep trusting him when he put her in danger time after time???). like s1 was truly a bunch of nothing except for serenay looking hot i guess.

AND A MESSAGE TO THE FANDOM IN THE END ❤

this season is def SO MUCH BETTER than s4, the pacing is still a mess but thank goodness i care about these kiddos so i’m able to keep on watching *sigh

i don’t really care about daniel tho, i mean he’s bad as a villain BUT he’s still “kinda” better than lewis. And thanks to him being kenji’s dad i do feel the stakes are high in here, also looking at the previous jurassic world trilogy? greed is something the human antagonist would have so i don’t mind that much with daniel kon’s motive yk.

I do think that daniel IS s5′s biggest problem, if you want to have a villain that brings the highest stakes EVER in your story then you gotta show how menacing and true their actions are for their goal. All daniel did is what? he’s just standing with his stupid tablet and bossing people that worked for him. I think those scenes where he’s trying to gaslight kenji is pretty good, but honestly tho they could’ve been better. The scene in the finale when kenji called him out is imo THE BEST (when he stood up from his dad yk) scene the writers ever did to kenji and his dad. THIS should’ve happened in idk ep 4 or 5??? i wanted kenji to talk about why his dad didn’t even bother to get kenji to mantah corp island and my god why the hell it has to happen in he finale???

thing is i think kenji and his dad’s conflict was stretched wayyy too far (kinda gives me brookenji vibes tbh) and this brings me to talk about yassamy, darius-kenji duo, the core arc, and why kenji and his dad’s conflict should’ve treated just like these arcs

YASAMMY : These two aweee, this season got so many of their moments together even before they’re official which gotta admit made me scared if they’d ended up as “queerbait” but god ep 9 made me relieved lmao. Anyway anyway, it only took 3 episodes for yaz and sammy being canon. In ep 6 the way yaz look at sammy? i know it’s been like that even before this episode but i think it’s a nice build up to what happens next. In ep 7 yaz actually opened up on her feelings about sammy, then ep 9 yaz FINALLY said those feelings to sammy (AND BEN BEING BEST BOI OMG which i’ll talk about later haha). I don’t feel like it’s rushed or “came out of nowhere” cause their friendship-to-relationship has exist since s1, i feel like yaz and sammy totally earned it. The best thing is this happened before the finale, there’s time to develop their affection to each other and i love that

DARIUS-KENJI DUO : so darius was like repressing his emotions when kenji and his dad locked him and the others in that chamber. When brook asked his opinion abt kenji he literally stated he doesn’t care (which holy shit broke my heart-), this happened in ep 4 and then in ep 5 he got a heart-to-heart talk with brook and able to express his anger and sadness for kenji, then took a pretty long time skip to ep 11 he finally able to breakdown all those sadness towards kenji himself. This arc only took 3 eps the same as yasammy’s, at least there’s a room to breathe for this duo’s character development in the finale tho

THE CORE : idk i think i need to rewatch the whole stuff again cause man i don’t understand what this thing meant for the island, i mean is this what turned isla nublar’s volcano?? not only mantah corp’s island that has an earthquake but it affects isla nublar too tho. Anyway the first sign of danger was at ep 4 or 5 with the earthquake, i forgot what eps when the kids needed to shut down this thing but whatever that is it got resolved in 3 or 4 eps. I’d rather have this one as the main threat tho, cause again i prefer natural threat than human’s but eh

okay so comparing these arcs to kenji and his father’s the best way to have their conflict keep going on till the finale is to have different conflicts, ex build it with kenji talking about why his dad never came to pick him (and his friends) after jurassic world then his dad gaslighting him, then him trusting his father to doubt it, then finally snap at his bs. I think these could work? just don’t stand in only one conflict yknow cause again, it felt too far stretched

And here are some bunch of stuff that i dislike other than daniel kon as a villain from this season :

Mae being sidelined, i love her in season 4 but i really feel like her character is kinda wasted in here. How she’s just turning against camp fam in order to protect them is kindaaaa meh, this has something to do with daniel as the villain tho. Like he doesn’t feels or seems like he’d hurt the kiddos and it’s proven by the others only getting locked up in a chamber. Sure he tried to kill darius with spino but like.....this happened in ep 12, THE LITERAL FINALE. So what’s the point right? anywy seriously mae decided to cross her line with helping daniel controlling those dinos kinda showed that she didn’t trust what the kids are able to do.

Brand, dave, and roxie also being sidelined, WHEN I SAW THEM I GOT LITERAL TEARS. MY PARENTS THEY’RE BACK AAAAA!!!! and yet....i got so little of them in here. Them being separated from the main conflict didn’t help either, i wanted them to fight side by side with the kids. Dave and roxie are their camp counselors anyway, they need some heart to heart talk with the kids!

The investors? i literally don’t fucking care about them. I’m happy that they got eaten tho.

Nothosaurus whatever that called, i wish there’s an explanation on why that thing’s there. And like so close with the core thingy? just why? what if something goes wrong w it and someone tried to fix it, like what camp fam did actually

Kenji got separated from the others for some eps, the others got an actual heart to heart talk and god i think kenji needed that in those episodes. I’m glad he got it with mae tho but still this is THE LAST season so what the hell???

When they’re having a heart to heart talk the moment ALWAYS got interrupted by life threatening events LIKE STOP IT OH MY GOD LET THEM TALK AAAAAAA

BEN IS BEST BOI. I gotta admit i was kinda bored up until the episode where yaz confessed her crush on sammy with ben came, maybe because it’s sammy and yaz having an actual focus? something other than daniel, the core, or dinos, or even the beef with kenji. Anyway ben being such a fangirl for them plssss I LOVE HIM SO MUCH IN THAT EXACT MOMENT. Plus he’s so supportive aweee, i just love him being a huge yasammy shipper i swear lmao. And then him reuniting with bumpy UGH- knowing that bumpy got chipped and was mind controlled I CAN’T AAAAAAAA.

Darius and brooklynn’s friendship is just sooooo soft aweee, i’m glad that darius could just....spill his burden with brooklynn yk? i’m actually sad that he still did stuff solo but at least with him letting those burdens out made me satisfied with this season

BROOKLYNN HAVING A GODDAMN BREAKDOWN, like oh shit i know this season will have angst but this is not what i expected-

KENJI YOU ABSOLUTE DINGUS!!! i love his inner conflict with his dad, i love how he got huge character depth in the final season!!! despite my problem with daniel’s character tho i’m still happy with kenji’s character development :)

SAMMY BEING A LITERAL SUNSHINE, also i’m so happy she got a spotlight even tho she did the action on solo

Even tho i had my problems with this season, i’m still so glad to be part of the ride. Never ever have i thought that i’d fall in love with this show so much. It’s accompanying me through many stuff, good or bad, mostly when i’m bored tho. Having characters that are kids and a part of the franchise i loved and also these characters are GENUINELY GOOD which is really surprising coming from the “world trilogy” is awesome. I was 16 when i watched the first season of camp cretaceous and now i’m 17 (18 this year tho) and i’m very happy to have this show being a part of my teen-life lmao.

l/h are team running away, k/p are team fighting back . . . the legs are all about stability and making sure they don’t get knocked down and the arms are all about offense and assertiveness . . . god i love how the anatomy of voltron translates into the character’s (initial) positions and characterizations it’s so *chef’s kiss*

and shiro is the perfect balance btwn the opposing parts here, the head who will direct their actions yup yup yup

conceptually, on the rewatch, i think i really like skin of evil, but on the other hand, it's just. so badly done.

i think it's great in what it could be, and tbh, i love the repercussions of this episode (on data, alt. tasha yar with guinan ep, tasha yar's half-romulan daughter, tasha yar's sister)

like i think i do like that tasha yar dies a senseless way? the fate of many a redshirt in tos. that there's nothing particularly heroic about it, fatal accidents can occur! on the other hand, it's insulting that it's a badly designed, appearance-wise, oily slime monster that flings her away and her cheek is smudged with that slime. it looks bad!!!!

(picard & deanna troi vs nihilism tho... kind of cool antagonist, but. the design let it down so bad)

i wish it had better build up to this moment, tasha having more moments with worf (they had such cute interaction at the start!! but beyond that, it felt nonexistent apart from worf's centric episode), data (i think robotfucking could have had more... moments? idk? combined with her awful past, so badly handled in the show, but also really interesting to think about having a relationship with data in light of that), riker, deanna (did they even talk beyond the everyone gets drunk ep, and tasha steals her clothes??? oh wait, code of honor where deanna tricks tasha into saying a guy is attractive), geordi (geordi/tasha could have been cute!!), and wesley (beyond Don't Do Drugs Kids PSA). however: s1 problems, everyone's a concept not a person, tng - voy all suffer this issue, it's not until like s3 that everyone's like oh i get this character now.

like i know the series didn't know what to do with tasha! but it's never been more inconsistent with picard -- here she claims that he's the closest thing to a father, but in an earlier episode, she def. implies that if she wasn't a star fleet officer, and he wasn't a captain, she'd date him. (which, yeah, same, he's handsome, but!!! not the attitude someone like tasha should have!!!)

like i do like tasha, and i do think the funeral is moving, tasha has had interactions with other crewmates that make her feel loved by others, so i do feel some sadness for her story cut short. but the scripts for her... really not the best.

So literally yesterday I was thinking why I love 911 is ita a story about flawed beautifully complicated people getting there second chances. Literally everyone of them is in like book 2 of their stories. And I was like that how I know Buddie will be canon because they are the only 2 who haven't had their second chances. And now seeing the promo I am so excited. I mean I can be wrong or whatever but seeing Eddie in dispatch reminds me so much of Buck S1 with Abby. Both my boys deserve their 2nd chance and I can't wait to see it play out.

Plus it was a helpful reminder in the baby/hospital episode that yes dispatch and fire fighters do check back in with each other. And Taylor still has her issues with Buck in danger the way Ally did. So hopefully she sees him hanging off a building like the roller coaster call and bails. Though I would prefer he leaves her first but I'm not picky. There is just way to many call backs in that promo.

No clue how this will play out but I feel like its gonna be amazing to see!!

Oh, I def agree with this. 911 very much kicks off as a story about people getting second chances, if you think about Bobby rebuilding his life after what happened to his family, about Hen cheating on Karen and getting to make it right, about Chim who the rebar almost killed but then he got a second chance at life, and about Athena whose marriage fell apart, but then she got another shot at love...

So yes, it would be amazing if the show seals this theme with Buck and Eddie getting to be each other's second chance after the biggest heartbreaks of their lives (Abby for Buck IMO and Shannon for Eddie). And how apt is it if this really does come full circle for Buck and the man he'll figure out is the love of his life and the one to truly heal his heart will temporarily work at the same job as the woman who broke that heart to begin with? Poetic.

As for Taylor, I would like her and Buck to both realize why they're not the right person for each other romantically, but I do feel like Buck needs to have at least one relationship where he was the one who got to say, "You know what? This isn't working out." Which would also rightly parallel Eddie, who was abandoned by Shannon (twice, second time with the divorce) and finally got to that moment of realizing that sometimes being alone is better than being with the wrong person, as he broke up with Ana. So IDK that this is what the show will do with B/T, but it's what I think it should do. Does that make sense?
