The Edge of Love (2008)

I want to talk about these characters.

I specifically want to talk about these characters being written by a female writer, because I feel like that’s what has made all the difference in this film.

The bond between Caitlin and Vera was something I genuinely can’t remember having ever seen before (in that 2008 landscape), and Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller’s relationship in all of the press interviews I’ve seen for this film (and yes, I’ve seen them - what else do you do after watching a film that leaves you feeling empty) - their chemistry together was magic.

These two define sisterhood. Messy, complicated sisterhood. The kind of relationship where you grow together, learn together, face the ugliest, scariest challenges together, make mistakes and still love each other. I’m so glad they showcased this relationship because for me, this is what the film was at its core. The romance with the good man and the bad man and the babies were part of it, sure, but it was Vera and Caitlin, open and judgement free, that was the constant. And this is only ever portrayed when you have a strong female writer and I’m so fkn here for it. I genuinely believe the way Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller reflected this camaraderie off camera has a lot to do with being able to play these characters so freely.

Anyway, these are my thoughts. I really feel like there was just so much to this film. It broke my heart but I enjoyed it. And this relationship would never have existed without a female writer.

I started this journey of films to explore Cillian Murphy’s film catalogue, because we know homeboy can act with his entire soul. But you know, once that’s done, I think I may explore Keira Knightley’s works next because to me they’re genuinely of the same class of acting. I know Sienna Miller from Stardust, but sadly not much else.

Does anyone else watch films for actors? Or explore all films of an actor or director they like? I’m taking any and all suggestions

Do new women's basketball fans know how hot Alyssa Thomas is? I think they should know.

This is the kind of player that simply does not exist in women's college basketball.

Even Alyssa Thomas was not Alyssa Thomas in college. She was just a kid back then. But Baby Alyssa was amazing in college. Amazing. She was a 2x All-American and 3x ACC Player Of The Year. She led Maryland to the Final Four. She's Maryland's all-time scoring, rebounding, and double-double leader.

She did all that in college while only exploring 10% of her potential.

Now, she's in her prime. And she is a completely different beast altogether. In college, she was Charmander. Now, in the pros, she's Charizard.

And that's why college basketball fans should watch the WNBA. If Baby Alyssa could evolve into Sir Thomas The Tank Engine Of Doom, what will Baby Caitlin evolve into? Don't you want to see your favorite players evolve into terrifying beasts? Well, the WNBA is the league where that happens.

Drew some of my favorite characters as cats. I may do another with more that I like but this is it for now! I decided to not use the stylized designs and came up with ones on the spot for this. This was a test with art style and I kind of like it! I might do one with the same ones but as engines.

no but frost is a lab experiment. like she's if frankenstein created his monster by putting it in his own body and then did that to his daughter as well. thomas' best try fighting against the STATISTICALLY SMALL chance caitlin could inherit his disease, was using her as a guinea pig for his experiments. until the cold and the trauma that experiment was doing to their bodies and their minds manifested entirely new people inside of them! it was a statistically small chance. caitlin was illegally experimented on, medically abused, and frost's her life support system. frost is the illegal experiment, she is the medical abuse. she's a savior sibling, and the worst part? it wasn't necessary.
