So, this is something I've been sitting on for a good while. Mainly because I got too heated each time to write a post about it.

On the 7th of February 2024, France organized a memorial service for the Franco-Israeli killed in the 7/10 attack. That was a good thing but, like many people in France, I personnally felt that it was a bit late. Still, better a memorial service than nothing at all. A nice touch was inviting the famillies of hostages and putting them front and center. That was positive, in my opinion, and a good show of solidarity.

So, you might be wondering what about this has me heated. Two words : Far left. or, in three words : La France Insoumise. LFI is a far left party that has a worrying amount of weight in France, right now. They have some of the common hallmarks : revolution fetishism, radicalist talking points, repeated attempts to delegitimize the election system (like Mélenchon claiming the 2022 presidential election was "stolen" when he ranked 3rd), etc... Recently they have also refused to condemn Hamas' attack. While they didn't openly support it like some fring trotskyist parties, they refused to condemn it, and at least one of their PMs went to Tunisia to basically parrot Islamist talking points blaming Israel for everything. They have overwhelmingly expressed support for "Palestinian liberation", because saying they support Hamas wouldn't be good press, so they skirt around it. But everyone gets the message, really. So, what did they do for that memorial service ? Well first off they participated against the wishes of the famillies of the victims and hostages. That's bad, but it gets worse. Because of course. See, their main representative in Parliament, Mathilde Panot, felt the need to also put front and center Palestinian victims. Now, I do believe Palestinian victims of this war should be remembered, and honored (provided they weren't terrorists). But ... is the memorial fro the 7/10 victims really the place ? No, no it fucking isn't. And that's what has me heated : this was a memorial for Jewish victims, and they were looking to appropriate it. And it gets even worse ! Because you see, Miss Panot had the perfect exemple : two Franco-Palestinian kids from her constituency that had died in Gaza. Why is that worse ? Because of why the kids were there. They were there because their mother fled to Gaza, from ISIS, after embezzeling money meant for Syrian refugees. Let me rephrase : the mother created a charity to support the victims of the Syrian civil war and of ISIS attacks, then made off with the money to deliver it entirely to ISIS. Then had kids with her ISIS assigned jihadi husband. And when ISIS collapsed, she sought refuge with Hamas. And because of that, her kids were in harm's way when Hamas launched a pogrom. And LFI thought that THIS was the correct exemple to bring to that memorial service. Is it tragic the kids died ? Yes. But maybe, just maybe, putting their terrorism enabling mother up as an exemple of martyred mother, during a memorial for the victims of an antisemitic pogrom perpetrated by said terrorism enabler's allies is a profoundly shitty thing to do. And that, among other things, is why most of France considers LFI to be antisemitic.

I’m about halfway through They Called Me A Lioness and reading about children deciding to join protest marches because soldiers so routinely infiltrate Palestinian’s homes that they have learned there is no safety by not leaving their homes is so heartbreaking. By this point of the book, Ahed Tamimi’s mother and father have been arrested and beaten numerous times, she herself has been beaten and had her hand broken by a bullet. Her brothers have suffered as well. They have seen friends and family brutally martyred. Her close friend Janna Jihad has picked up a camera as a child and began documenting human rights violations and the tenacity of the Palestinian people. The most help they have received is from other protestors. As Arab men continue to be demonized I am thinking about the random Palestinian men mentioned in this book who band together to help out whenever they see soldiers firing tear gas into homes. In one story, they physically carried tear gassed kids out of a second story home. It is so beyond criminal that American politicians do nothing to stop this year after year especially now that the genocide has escalated so much

You're not gonna push the democrats left by saying fanatically that you will vote for them forever no matter how many war crimes they commit or how genocidal they act as long as they can tell you the gop is worse! The Gop is Worse, but you should never tell a politician that you'll support them no matter what horrible crimes they commit! It certainly won't make them turn left!

The democrats went centrist after they got some of the biggest and most unprecedented election victories in their history. It's why people are telling them that they only win if they change instead of "sitting on their asses doing nothing and not voting"; People are pushing them to change what they're doing, because shockingly they also don't want to live under Trump again, they also don't want the democrats to support a genocide.

Again, instead of being mad at people who are against a genocide, perhaps realize your time would be better spent being against the genocide and against funding it and actually pushing the Blue left instead of throwing your support at them blindly and then doing nothing else

I've been talking about The Mountain Goats so much at work that one of my coworkers decided to listen to them and asked me what my favorite album was, which is Tallahassee (of course).

I gave him two warnings. The band can v much be an acquired taste, and that specific album is about a couple that needs to divorce but won't.

My coworker forgot the second warning and told me he was very confused for a bit as to why the songs were so sad. He also asked me what genre the band was, and I was just like "uhhhhhh Wikipedia says indie folk rock?" and he was like "okay folk makes sense, I was wondering if it was some sort of weird country."

I don't know if I've gotten him fully on the Mountain Goats train, but he did like a handful of the songs from the album (including "No Children", naturally), which is about par for the course in my experience. When I first got into the Goats I had to listen to an album multiple times to enjoy/appreciate more than five or so songs. If an album is esp weird it still takes me a few listens to be like "oh hell yeah!"

আল্লাহর পথে আহ্বানের বিশেষ মর্যাদা

মহান আল্লাহর দ্বিন প্রচার অত্যন্ত ফজিলতপূর্ণ কাজ। তা ইহকাল ও পরকালের শান্তি ও সফলতা লাভের অন্যতম মাধ্যম। পবিত্র কোরআনে মহান আল্লাহ বলেন, ‘আর তোমার মধ্যে এমন একটা দল যেন থাকে, যারা কল্যাণের প্রতি আহ্বান করবে, সৎকাজে আদেশ দেয়, অসৎ কাজে নিষেধ করে, এরাই সফলকাম।’ (সুরা : আলে ইমরান, আয়াত : ১০৪)

তবে এই সফলতা পেতে হলে দ্বিন প্রচারককে অবশ্যই পরিপূর্ণ নিষ্ঠার সঙ্গে একমাত্র আল্লাহর সন্তুষ্টির জন্য দাওয়াতের কাজ করতে হবে।

বিশুদ্ধ ঈমান-আকিদা পোষণ করতে হবে, যেগুলো ঈমানের সঙ্গে সাংঘর্ষিক নয়, অন্যথায় নিজে ও অন্যকে বিভ্রান্ত করার সম্ভাবনা খুব বেশি, যা হিতে বিপরীত হতে পারে। পাশাপাশি একজন দ্বিন প্রচারককে মহান আল্লাহর জন্য নম্রতা অবলম্বন করতে হবে। পবিত্র কোরআনে ইরশাদ হয়েছে, ‘আর মুমিনদের মধ্যে যারা তোমার অনুসরণ করে, তাদের প্রতি তুমি তোমার বাহুকে অবনত করো।’ (সুরা : শুআরা, আয়াত : ২১৫) মহান আল্লাহ নবীজি (সা.)-কে এই নির্দেশনা দিয়ে কিয়ামত পর্যন্ত সব ইসলাম প্রচারককে শিক্ষা দিয়েছেন।

কারণ একজন সফল দায়ীর অন্যতম গুণ হলো সবার সঙ্গে নম্র আচরণ করা। সবাইকে সমান সম্মান করা, চাই সে সাদা হোক বা কালো, ধনী হোক বা গরিব, সবল হোক বা দুর্বল। আল্লাহর সন্তুষ্টির জন্য নম্রতা অবলম্বন করলে মহান আল্লাহ তার মর্যাদা বাড়িয়ে দেন। হাদিস শরিফে ইরশাদ হয়েছে, আবু হুরায়রা‌ (রা.) থেকে বর্ণিত, রাসুলুল্লাহ (সা.) বলেছেন, সদকা‌ করায় সম্পদের হ্রাস হয় না।

যে ব্যক্তি ক্ষমা করে আল্লাহ তার মর্যাদা বাড়িয়ে দেন। আর কেউ আল্লাহর সন্তুষ্টি লাভে বিনীত হলে তিনি তার মর্যাদা সমুন্নত করে দেন। (মুসলিম, হাদিস : ৬৪৮৬)

তা ছাড়া মানুষ কঠিন স্বভাবের মানুষদের বড় জোর ভয় করে, কিন্তু তাদের দাওয়াতে মন থেকে হকের পথে আসার সম্ভাবনা কম। পবিত্র কোরআনে মহান আল্লাহ বলেন, ‘অতঃপর আল্লাহর পক্ষ থেকে রহমতের কারণে তুমি তাদের জন্য নম্র হয়েছিলে। আর যদি তুমি কঠোর স্বভাবের, কঠিন হৃদয়সম্পন্ন হতে, তবে তারা তোমার আশপাশ থেকে সরে পড়ত।

সুতরাং তাদেরকে ক্ষমা করো এবং তাদের জন্য ক্ষমা প্রার্থনা করো। আর কাজকর্মে তাদের সঙ্গে পরার্মশ করো। অতঃপর যখন সংকল্প করবে তখন আল্লাহর ওপর তাওয়াক্কুল করবে। নিশ্চয় আল্লাহ তাওয়াক্কুলকারীদের ভালোবাসেন।’ (সুরা : আলে ইমরান, আয়াত : ১৫৯)

এই কাজ করতে গেলে বহু ধরনের মানুষের কাছে যেতে হয়, যাদের চিন্তাধারা ও মন-মানসিকতা ভিন্ন, চরিত্র ভিন্ন। সবার শিক্ষাদীক্ষাও এক নয়। তাই দাওয়াতের কাজের সময় কোনো মূর্খ লোকের সম্মুখীন হলে, তাকে এড়িয়ে চলতে হবে। আল্লাহ নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন, মূর্খদের এড়িয়ে চলতে। পবিত্র কোরআনে ইরশাদ হয়েছে, ‘সৎকাজের নির্দেশ দিন এবং মূর্খদের এড়িয়ে চলুন।’ (সুরা : আরাফ, আয়াত : ১৯৯)

মহানবী (সা.) আল্লাহর এই নির্দেশ শতভাগ পালন করেছেন। তিনি মূর্খদের সঙ্গে কখনো তর্কে জড়াতেন না এবং ব্যক্তিগত বিষয়ে কখনো প্রতিশোধ নিতেন না। হাদিস শরিফে ইরশাদ হয়েছে, আনাস ইবনে মালিক (রা.) বলেন, একবার আমি রাসুল (সা.)-এর সঙ্গে হাঁটছিলাম। তখন তাঁর গায়ে একখানা গাঢ় পাড়যুক্ত নাজরানি চাদর ছিল। এক বেদুইন তাঁকে পেয়ে চাদরখানা ধরে খুব জোরে টান দিল। আমি নবী (সা.)-এর কাঁধের ওপর তাকিয়ে দেখলাম যে জোরে চাদরখানা টানার কারণে তাঁর কাঁধে চাদরের পাড়ের দাগ বসে গেছে। তারপর বেদুইন বলল, হে মুহাম্মদ, তোমার কাছে আল্লাহর দেওয়া যে সম্পদ আছে, তা থেকে আমাকে দেওয়ার আদেশ করো। তখন নবী (সা.) তার দিকে তাকিয়ে হেসে দিলেন এবং তাকে কিছু দান করার আদেশ করলেন। (বুখারি, হাদিস : ৬০৮৮)
