“Where is Cam?” Ryan asked after the rest of the Misfits had already gathered in the lobby.
“Still asleep,” Matt responded.
“What the fuck? He knew we had to be at this shoot for 10am.”
“We tried knocking, but last time we tried to wake him we got in trouble,” Mason pointed out. “We didn’t want to be too loud and get in shit with the hotel again.”
“We have to leave in 10 minutes.
You stood from the cozy chair you had claimed as yours nearly 20 minutes ago and held a hand out to Ryan. “Give me his room key, I’ll go wake him.”
Mason gave you a look as Ryan passed you the extra key he had for Cam’s room. “Why do you think you can wake him up but we can’t?”
“Cause you idiots can’t do anything without causing trouble. I’m not about to go up there and start screaming and get us a noise complaint issue,” you said. The guys couldn’t argue with that. You were definitely the most chill person of the entire group. To Ryan you added, “You guys go on and start the shoot if you have to. If he’s not up and ready, he definitely won’t be down here in the next ten minutes. I’ll get us an Uber and meet you guys there.”
Ryan agreed and started herding the guys into the car that was waiting for them. You went to the elevators and pressed the button for the floor that Cam’s room was on.
The other reason you decided to go up to wake him over the rest of the guys was because you wanted a moment alone with Cam, without the threat of the guys breaking in at any moment and catching you two.
You had been part of the Misfits crew since the very beginning. You started as Tobi’s friend first, but eventually grew close with everyone after meeting them and streaming with them for a while. They had all convinced you to move to Australia with them so you could be a part of their content all the time and that’s when you officially became a Misfit.
That was also when you started a secret relationship with Cam.
During the massive, thousand dollar rager they threw, you and Cam had gotten super drunk, which resulted in you two also getting super touchy-feely with one another. It started with Cam sitting you down on his lap when the group of you were in the Misfits Only VIP area. It continued when you started feeling his lips against your neck while you were sat there, and eventually the two of you were making out for who knows how long, only to be interrupted by Chad stumbling into the room and making a big deal about catching you. At the time, no one thought anything of it because everyone was drunk or high out of their minds.
That night, though, you fell asleep in Cam’s bed. Not in a sexual way, Cam would never do that when you were so drunk you could barley form a coherent thought. No, the two of you just cuddled the entire night. The next morning, he comforted you through your hangover and you elected to stay in bed with him all day. At some point during that day, the cuddling turned into kissing again, and your friendship blossomed into something more.
You agreed to not tell the rest of the guys. You didn’t want it to be a big deal, and you weren’t ready for the fans to know yet. You both wanted this relationship to just be your own, even for just a little while. This resulted in very little time for just the two of you. Even if you were over to Cam’s place where he lived on his own, the guys would often show up unannounced and any romantic moments you were having would immediately have to end.
You weren’t passing up this opportunity to have Cam all to yourself, even if it could only be for ten minutes. You knew the guys wouldn’t come up looking for him if they knew you were with him, and Ryan was already too stressed about Cam being late to the shoot to allow the rest of them to be late.
When you reached Cam’s room, you swiped the key card and let yourself in. The room was pitch dark; not a single light was on and the light blocking curtains were drawn over the giant windows in the room. Cam was peacefully asleep on his back, the blanket pulled up just to his waist revealing his naked torso. You knew he was naked from the waist down, too. Cam very rarely slept with clothes on, mainly because he knew this would also deter the guys from trying to burst into his room to wake him if they knew he would be naked.
You flicked on the lamp next to his bed, a dull light illuminating just the small corner it was in. The light did not disturb Cam in the slightest. He was sound asleep, likely to be that way for a few more hours if he didn’t have this shoot going on.
A small smirk formed on your face as an idea popped into your head.
You slowly crawled onto the bed, trying your best not to wake him just yet. You took hold of the blanket and pulled it off of him, confirming that he was indeed completely naked under there. He stirred slightly, mumbling something incoherently, but did not wake up.
You started by kissing around his stomach, from his belly button down to the mound above his soft member. It twitched slightly, his body knowing what was to come before his mind did. You decided there was no use in trying to tease him if he was still fast asleep, so you just went for it and closed your mouth around the head of his cock. It started to grow almost immediately and a low groan escaped from Cam’s lips.
“(Y/N).”
You glanced up to see that his eyes were still closed, but you were sure that he was starting to wake up now.
You slowly moved your lips down his shaft, hollowing out your cheeks so you could take all of him. Another groan came from Cam, followed by the feeling of his hand grabbing a fist full of your hair. When you looked up this time, he was looking down at you. There was still sleep in his eyes, but he was definitely more awake now than he had been.
“This is quite the wake up call,” he commented. You tried to giggle with his cock in your mouth, but it only sent a wave of vibrations running through him that made him feel even better.
Cam pulled on your hair to bring your mouth off of his cock a ways, before pushing your head back down until he was buried completely in your mouth and poking at the back of your throat. You took him all with little complication besides some teary eyes.
Using his grip on you as leverage, he began to fuck your mouth. Slowly at first, still groggy from being awoken from such a deep sleep. But as he finally started to come to, he became a bit more aggressive. Each tug on your hair became harder, causing you to wince every time he pulled you up some. He noticed your discomfort and moved his hands to either side of your face, holding you in place so he could thrust himself into your mouth instead. You placed your hands on either side of him, trying to steady yourself against his rough thrusts.
“Fuck, baby,” Cam breathed. “Your warm mouth feels so perfect around my cock. I can’t think of a better way to wake up than to feel it around me as I start to come to.”
You moaned against him, which in turn caused him to moan as well. You could feel yourself becoming wet between your legs. If he wasn’t on such a strict deadline you probably would’ve taken him out of your mouth and sat yourself down on his hard cock, taking all the time in the world to ride him until both of you reached your climaxes.
But your eyes glanced over to the clock on Cam’s beside table and you realized you were already going to be late as it was.
You put one hand on Cam’s thigh, stopping his thrusts, while wrapping the other around the base of his dick. You wrapped your mouth around just the tip of him and began jerking him off. He threw his head back and called your name in pleasure as your mouth was suddenly filled with his cum.
You could feel his cock pulsating as he filled you, and waited until you knew it was stopped before slipping your mouth from him and swallowing. You could still see the lust in his eyes as he watched you, before he quickly reached out and grabbed you. He roughly pulled you down on top of him and pressed his lips against yours. His tongue ran across your lips, no doubt still tasting him on you. You could feel his still hard cock pressing against your clothed core and it just made you ache for him more.
You were reluctant to pull away, and he definitely did not want to let you go.
“You gotta get up,” you told him.
“Not until I repay the favor,” he said, kissing over your neck.
“Cam, you’re already late for the shoot.”
“Then I may as well not go.”
It was hard to argue with him when he was kissing that spot that he knew drove you absolutely crazy. You would’ve given in if it wasn’t for the sound of Cam’s phone vibrating on the bedside table; another text from Ryan.
You sighed and pulled away from him, standing from the bed so that he couldn’t entice you any further. “Ryan is going to flip if you don’t show up. We’re already late as it is. Besides, we don’t want the guys getting suspicious if we don’t show up.”
Cam sighed, too, and stood as well. He went to his suitcase and grabbed the first outfit he could find. You tried not to stare for too long as he pulled on a pair of boxers, tucking his still half hard dick away, and then pulling on a pair of jeans as well.
“What if we just tell everyone about us?” he asked.
“Everyone like the viewers and everything?”
“Well, eventually yes. But I think it’s time we tell the rest of the crew at least. We’ve been dating for nearly a year now. I want to be able to spend time with my girlfriend without having to worry about whether or not my friends are going to ruin the moment. I want to be able to hold you hand and kiss you and share a bed with you regardless of if the others are with us or if we’re alone.”
You thought about it for a moment. “What do you think they’ll say when we tell them?”
“I mean, they’ll probably tease us both about it relentlessly, but who cares? As long as I get to be with you in private and in public, I don’t care what anyone says.”
You couldn’t help but smile. You got on the tips of your toes (which was still too short to reach Cam’s height) and threw your arms around his neck. You pressed a quick kiss against his lips.
“I’m still not letting you miss that shoot so we can have sex,” you told him.
He playfully rolled his eyes. “It was worth a try.”
You got the address of where the shoot was from Ryan and ordered an Uber. You could feel your nervousness growing as you approached the location knowing that within a few moments, all of your friends would finally know about your relationship with Cam. Noticing your worry, Cam laced his fingers through yours and gave your hand a reassuring squeeze. You looked over and smiled at him, which he returned.
The both of you entered the building, still holding hands, and the guys seemed to immediately zero in on you. Well, namely on Cam.
“What took you so long, cunt?” Mason called across the room.
“(Y/N) was busy sucking my dick,” Cam answered, nonchalantly. Your face burned as you felt all eyes turn to you. You glared up at Cam, but he simply laughed in response.
“No fucking way!” Swagger exclaimed, noticing your intertwined hands. “When the fuck did this happen?!”
“Remember that massive party we threw last year?” Cam asked.
Tobi gasped. “The one where you two were basically dry humping in the VIP section!”
“Okay, we were not basically dry humping in the VIP section,” you retorted.
“No, you totally were. You were on Cam’s lap and you were making out, you were basically gyrating all over him.”
You groaned and covered your face so they couldn’t see your embarrassment. Cam just laughed and put an arm around you.
“Seriously, though, we’re happy that you two are happy,” Matt said. “Just don’t be all cute and lovey dovey all the time. It’ll make me sick.”
Before you could say anything else, Ryan quickly jumped in to say, “We don’t have time for any more pleasantries. We’re already late to start filming. (Y/N), wash the cum off your mouth and let’s start filming.”
You would’ve been even more embarrassed by Ryan’s comment, but feeling Cam’s body shake with laughter next to you, along with the laughter of all your friends, made you smile.

Smutty Blog Introduction
Hello fellow earthlings! I’ve been debating for a while now on whether or not to become more active on this platform. Given the short nature (ish) of the content here, it seems like a good option given that I’m currently quite busy with Uni and other life stuff in general, but still feel that writer’s itch and wish to write down thoughts and ideas to explore some creative avenues. Now, for that to happen, I’m more than happy to take requests, given that I’m a part of quite a few fandoms. I’ll also add the characters I’d be willing to write for, so you guys get an idea as to what to expect.
That being said, this is a blog largely dedicated to all the smutty fics I come up with, so it’ll mostly be one-shots, drabbles, headcannons, NSWF alphabets, etc. I reserve the right to not write certain stuff because, well, I might not be into it (this includes underage stuff and noncon, straight off the bat, sorry, that’s just how it is). Other than that, please feel free to send me an ask of a request. Under the cut are a list of characters I’ll happily write for since I’ve watched/binged the show and have plenty of inspo for them. If you can’t find something to your liking, please shoot me a message anyway an we’ll see if we can work something out.

whistle
look idk what to tell yall other than i was bored again and i had no idea what hippity hoppity fuck i was doing
Trigger Warnings: mentions of gore and death, as well at hyperventilations. Continue reading at your own risk.
A heavy yawn escaped chapped lips as the tired man pulled the van into an old and empty gas station, turning the car off and leaning back against his seat. On the passenger side, a man with thick glasses and a pale pink blanket pulled around his legs looked up from his phone, pushing his glasses up and rubbing his eyes tiredly.
“Want me to go put the money?
“If you want. Hey, Mase, want to-”
When the driver turned slightly back, he saw the rest of his friends fast asleep, two young boys in the very back huddled together under a couple of blankets while the other two older one’s leaned slightly against each other. The passenger beside him chuckled quietly and slowly opened the door.
“Come on, Cam, before they wake up.”
Cam nodded and gently pushed his own door open, stepping out and stretching his long and tired limbs with a groan. He turned to look at the dark, empty forest on the other side of the highway, its lonely trees swaying with the chilly wind that blew through. He stared for a few moments, just watching the green lush sway in the wind when suddenly, he heard it.
A small whistle, tiny and far, but still audible. His brows scrunched up as he listened closely for the whistle, getting lost in his own head and jumping when a gentle hand touched his shoulder.
“Fuck, Toby, don’t scare me like that!”
“Sorry, but you just zoned out on me. I kept calling you and you didn’t respond.”
The Kiwi mumbled out an apology as he rubbed his eyes, letting Toby take ahold of his hand and bringing it up to his lips, kissing the cracked knuckles and causing Cam to smile softly.
“Come on, the faster we get out of here, the sooner we can get home and cuddle.”
“Mm, in a moment. I’m just trying to listen for the whistle.”
Toby gave Cam a confused look as the taller man blinked.
“Whistle? What are you talking about?”
“The whistle in the woods, did you not hear it? It wasn’t that loud but it was definitely there.” when Toby shook his head, Cam bit his lower lip and let out a deep breath, shaking his head and making his dirty gold hair fall against his tired and pale face.
“You know what, forget it. I’m probably imagining things. Come on, before Mason and Jay get up asking if we’re home yet.”
The shorter man slowly nodded his head and followed Cameron inside the barely intact station, dirt and dust covering the linoleum floor and old wooden shelves. Toby wrinkled his nose at the gross smell of grease and gasoline combined. While the shorter man went to pay for the gasoline, Cam wandered the aisles of the store, looking at the rip-off brands lining the shelves. He stopped himself midway through grabbing a bag of Doritos, looking up and outside the grimy windows and into the forest.
There was that whistle again.
He didn’t know why, but he started to shake. His whole body trembled as a lump formed in his throat, preventing him from swallowing, the bad of chips falling from his grasp as pretty blue eyes blew wide in fear.
He just wanted to get the absolute fuck out of there.
Not even bothering to pick up the chips, he went back up to the counter, grabbing Toby’s hand and practically pulling him out of the humid store and to the cold outside.
“Whoa, whoa, are you okay? Cam, you’re shaking, what the hell happened? Cam? Cameron!”
Something deep inside him told him to run, to get the hell away from the place as fast as possible and never look back. His whole body shook violently, breathing uncontrolled as he leaned against the car and began hyperventilating.
Something was coming.
Nothing could stop his shaking, not even when Toby wrapped his arms around his lithe waist and pulled him close, not when he kissed his cheeks and neck, things that would usually help him calm down when he panicked. Nothing could stop the ever-growing fear rising in his stomach, up to his throat, and down his back. Cam didn’t even notice the tears that slipped down his face and wet the collar of his jacket, seeping into cotton as he closed his eyes.
The whistle came again.
Closer.
Louder.
Like a trumpet blown to signify the end of times, it was haunting, ripping out all the fears Cameron had hidden deep inside his mind to protect himself from the world.
Before he even knew what was happening, Toby was pulling him into the car, the gas having been loaded long ago by I know half awake Matt, who looked at Cam with wide, worried eyes. Beside him, Eric stared intently at him, worry gnawing at him from the way Cameron shook and cried.
“Alright, let’s get the fuck out of here. This place is weirding me out.”
In a split second, Toby was jumping into the driver’s seat and turning the car on, pulling away from whatever portal to hell they had stopped at. Cameron still shook in his seat, eyes blown wide as he stared out the window of the car and into the woods that seemed to reach for him outside the window.
As they drove further and further away, the Kiwi seemed to grow more and more tired, shaking from time to time and quietly sniffling. Toby had one hand on the wheel, the other rubbing small circles into the taller man’s thigh. Everything seemed to grow calmer, the still night outside being replaced by the gentle rain that fell against the car and pavement below.
Just as his eyes grew tired and his head nodded from side to side, Cameron caught sight of a man standing in the middle of the road, features hidden under a mess of long frizzy brown hair and a mud-covered trilby sitting atop his head. His suit was complete rags, dirt, and water covering the once pristine coat and shirt he wore.
He couldn’t help the blood-curdling scream that escaped him as the man slowly turned its head up to look straight at the moving car, mouth twisting into a wide smile that bore yellow teeth, through which that haunting sound came from.
The next day, off the side of a shattered bridge, they found a rented van turned upside down, the river water overflowing the inside and moving through shattered windows. The bodies of five young men were all found scattered through the shallow water, heads having been busted open from the jagged rocks hidden underneath the rapidly moving water, taking with it the spilled blood of the males. All but one were found near the tragic scene, the last man having been found strung high above the ground on a sturdy branch, brown rope digging into the pale and broken neck of the man later identified as Cameron McKay.
Under his hanging corpse laid a dirty and insect-eaten trilby hat, covered in droplets of blood dripping from the corpse above it and withholding a small piece of parchment paper containing the name in cursive, clearly written in the blood of the young man.
The Whistler.

Out of curiosity, what would the characters of Stargate be like if it was a Crossover with PJO and/or Shadowhunters? Like, are they demigods or mortals? Are they Shadowhunters or downworlders? What would they be like? (This is for any of the shows, doesn't have to be a specific one)
Mmmh, I mean, Shadowhunters is pretty quickly done - the whole Stargate thing is inherently military. So they are Shadowhunters. All the humans are Shadowhunters. Teal’c and the jaffa? Warlocks; the forehead symbol being their warlock-mark. Ronon? Werewolf, totally. Goa’uld are demons. Wraith are vampires. There, that was actually easy! ;D
Now, Percy Jackson and the Olympians!
For one, SG-1 would be the equivalent to the Greeks, while Atlantis would be the Roman camp. Obviously, they’d not take place in the US then! I love that Atlantis started out in Antarctica, so how about that? But, you know, for both!
Trainer of this camp, the Chiron-role: George Hammond
Apollo: Janet Frasier, Carson Beckett
Hephaestus/Vulcan: Samantha Carter
Athena: Daniel Jackson, Elizabeth Weir, Rodney McKay
Ares/Mars: Cameron Mitchell, Aiden Ford
Zeus/Jupiter: Jack O’Neill
Poseidon/Neptune: John Sheppard, Teal’c*
Hermes/Mercury: Vala Mal Doran
Satyr: Martin Lloyd (look. I am fond of him)
Merpeople (because Atlantis): Ronon Dex, Teyla Emmagan and her people
Cyclopes: Teal’c*, other jaffa
See, now, let’s move the whole thing to Antarctica. Snow storms serve to keep humans away from camp, behind a layer of Mist however is the hidden camp. Camp Stargate. The Greek camp.
The Roman camp however is hidden away even from the Greeks, as it tends to be. It’s on the literal sunken city of Atlantis, beneath the surface. Hidden in a big air-bubble so the Romans can live there.
John Sheppard and Jack O’Neill as the big protagonists and their special canon DNA translates to special godly DNA too.
For John, that’s the ancient gene that leads to them even going on their trip to Atlantis - so linking him to Atlantis directly, meaning he’s a son of Neptune here.
While for Jack, I picked Zeus because of how Thor favors him. The lightning-connection. I didn’t want to go with Thor as his dad, because I like the buddy-relationship far more. So Thor just went “Aha, this lightning demigod from another pantheon is strong. I will aid them”.
And Elizabeth and Rodney are Greeks who come to live with the Romans, basically kind of like in Heroes of Olympus - they accompanied John Sheppard to the Roman camp after some problems. Since there are no Roman children of Minerva, so they’re kids of Athena.
Now, the jaffa are cyclopes - with the symbol on their foreheads being their real eye covered by the Mist. And Teal’c is, much like Tyson in Percy Jackson and the Olympians, a cyclops child of Poseidon, which is why he is at camp, unlike his bretheren. Just imagine, monsters having enslaved cyclopes and them rising up with the help of demigods, who are at first as weary of them as the humans were of the jaffa.
Since Teyla and Ronon are decidedly non-human, I like the idea of them being merpeople, who encounter the demigods living on Atlantis.
I love Martin Lloyd because he’s fun so I like the idea of him being a satyr at camp, maybe the one who brought Jack to camp.
I feel the others are pretty self-expanatory - the doctors as children of Apollo, the traveling thief a child of Hermes. Daniel is, very clearly, Athena to me, while Sam is totally a kid of Hephaestus to me because she tinkers so cutely.
Damn, I really, really love this pitch now. Shame on you for making me think about this, e.

real poggers moment ~ goodguyfitz
word count: 1165
request?: yes!
@zingerello “could you make a fitz x reader where him and the reader hang out together while streaming irl. sorry if this makes no sense 😃.”
description: in which he decides to introduce his girlfriend to his fans through a stream, and she decides to say some pretty cringe shit
pairing: fitz x female!reader
warnings: swearing
masterlist (one, two)
Tumblr media
Cam’s fans were met with a surprise when they loaded his stream and found that Cam wasn’t alone. And not as in he was streaming with a group of his friends, but that he was not physically alone in his room. There was a girl with him, a girl his viewers had never seen before.
“Hello everyone!” he said. “Welcome to the stream. As you can see, I am not alone today. I am joined by my girlfriend, (Y/N).”
(Y/N) raised a hand to wave, but changed her mind midway through and dabbed. Cam turned slowly to look at her as she began to giggle at what she had done.
“Did...did you just dab on my stream?” She nodded. Cam turned back to his webcam and said, “Never mind guys, you’re actually witnessing a breakup.”
“Hey!” (Y/N) shoved his shoulder playfully.
Neither one of them was addressing the fact that this was the first time Cam’s audience had seen (Y/N), and definitely the first time hearing that he had a girlfriend at all. The chat was filled with confused messages that they both looked at in amusement but decided not to say anything.
The truth is, Cam and (Y/N) had been dating for nearly a year. they managed to keep it a secret from Cam’s viewers for that time for the sake of their privacy, but they both felt it was time to make the announcement. And what better way to make that announcement than to do it on stream? It was planned out a week in advance, that (Y/N) would join Cam for one of his streams and would be introduced as his girlfriend, but they would continue with the stream like normal. Nothing big because it didn’t feel like a big deal to them.
“What are we playing today Cam?” (Y/N) asked.
“We are not playing anything. I’m playing CS:GO and you’re watching because you don’t know how to play.”
“It’s not that I don’t know, it’s that I’m bad at playing.”
“You’d be good at playing if you knew how to play.”
(Y/N) stared at Cam through narrowed eyes before raising her middle finger at him. “Just load up your gun game with your dumb friends who I actually really like.”
Cam chuckled.
(Y/N) sat back in her chair and pulled her legs up to get comfortable. She didn’t understand the game at all, but she knew Cam liked to play it, so she liked to watch him whenever he played. She figured one of these days she’d learn how the game worked.
“So, what’s the point here? Are we killing the guys for fun?” she asked as the game started.
“I’m not even entertaining that question because I have told you numerous times that’s not how the game works.”
“I know, but what if you did it anyways? Imagine Swagger’s surprise when you absolutely snipe his ass out of nowhere.”
Cam looked at (Y/N) over his shoulder and she smiled back at him. He couldn’t help but smile back and leaning over to kiss her lips.
“You’re adorable, you know that?”
“Of course I do!”
Cam put on his headphones and started the game. (Y/N) tried to interact as well, or at least to seem interested in what was happening. Now that Cam was in his element with streaming, she felt the weight of all the viewers’ eyes on her. She didn’t want to seem disinterested to his fans, but she also didn’t know how else to interact.
She tried to focus on the screen, but found her eyes basically glossing over. It wasn’t until Cam cheered and turned to look at her that she snapped out of her trance.
“Did you see that?” he asked.
“Oh, uh, yeah! That was poggers.”
Cam looked at her questioningly. “Poggers?”
“Yeah. It was a real poggers moment.”
He looked at her in disbelief before putting his hands on her chair, spinning it so it faced away from him, and shoving it so hard that (Y/N) fell off.
“Get out,” he said. “I cannot have that level of cringe on my stream. You have been banned.”
(Y/N) giggled as she walked out of the room, relief filling her.
She went into their shared room and put Cam’s stream on as background noise while she sat down to read.
Maybe this is what I do next time Cam invites me on to stream, she thought to herself. I’ll just bring a book and read. It’ll be more me than whatever I was trying to do back there.
She fought the urge to look at the chat on Cam’s stream to see if they were talking about her. She knew that it was unlikely seeing as she had left quite some time ago, but she really wanted to know what his fans thought of her. Before the stream started, Cam had assured her that the fan’s opinions shouldn’t matter because he loved her, and she believed him. But she still wanted to know what their first impressions of her were.
She was so lost in thought - and in her book - that she didn’t notice Cam’s stream had ended until he appeared in the bedroom doorway. She looked up at him and quickly put her book aside and sat up.
“So?” she prompted. “What did they think of me?”
“I thought we said that doesn’t matter,” Cam said, a sly grin on his face.
(Y/N) waved away his comment. “Yeah, yeah, you love me and that’s what matters. Now tell me what they thought of me.”
Cam chuckled and moved to stand at the edge of the bed. (Y/N) got up onto her knees to try and reach Cam’s height, but even being up on the bed and sat up as far as her knees would stretch, she still couldn’t completely reach his height. Cam wrapped his arms around her and kissed her forehead.
“They like you,” he said. “They were shocked at first, but when you left the room they were sending messages saying they found you funny. They said we’re the perfect fit for one another.”
(Y/N) smiled brightly and pulled Cam down for a kiss. As his lips were against hers, she pulled him all the way back onto the bed. They laughed together and Cam repositioned so he was cradling (Y/N) against his side.
“Even if they didn’t like you, though, it doesn’t matter,” he reminded her.
“I know, because you love me,” she finished for him. “But I’d like for your fans to like me. They’re important to you, too, and I’d like to be able to get along with them if we ever met them in person.”
“Oh, you’d definitely get along with them. They kept saying ‘poggers’ in the chat long after you left.”
(Y/N) threw her head back and let out a dramatic laugh. “Yes, this is my legacy!”

elizabeth weir, sam carter, and alicia washington?
That is one hell of a squad, i meaaaaaaaaan, imagine that!
Elizabeth Weir
First impression: she’s the boss, i love her. (i’m cheap ok)
Impression now: i love her, she’s the one and only queen of atlantis and she has an amazing life leading the city (cuz she never died)
Favorite moment: that one when she was better than the leader of another world (yup all of them, all the time) but i have to say i really love seeing her caring for people under her command, like when people got hurt (john) or when people went missing (john) and when she had to stay strong when people got hurt (john) OK I LOVE HER BEING WORRIED ABOUT THIS STUPID DUDE
Idea for a story: she lives. also i have this story idea where she has a sister/kid/niece or something who finds a way to get into the stargate program and atlantis and she is v shook and v happy to have someone and also it makes her turn mama bear over the entire city lmao
Unpopular opinion: she was the best leader of atlantis. better than sam even. (and i love sam, but sam deserved sg1 and the sgc)
Favorite relationship: sparky ofc, but i really love weir and mckay, weir and teyla, weir and carson, and weir and jack o’neill
Favorite headcanon: SHE LIVED. also she wasn’t really dead and the replicators kept her alive and she came back at some point
Samantha Carter
First impression: i can’t remember, but i really like her when i was a kid
Impression now: I WANNA BE YOU
Favorite moment: there are so many omg, whenever she was badass and vulnerable, when she blew up a sun, when she saw the love of her life die but had to run for her’s in continuum
Idea for a story: she marries jack and becomes general and leads the sgc, also they have kids who are as smart as her and as reckless as him
Unpopular opinion: she deserved to lead sg1 instead of mitchell (is this unpopular though?)
Favorite relationship: sam/jack, sam/janet, early sam/daniel, sam/teal’c, sam/vala, sam/cameron, OK I LOVE SAM WITH HER TEAM
Favorite headcanon: she loves camping and living in nature, but loves her alien toys too much to move to the cabin forever
Alicia Washington
First impression: hi, you’re my new favorite character
Impression now: i love you, please come back
Favorite moment: when she kicked ass in the forest with mira, when she was with leah, when she was defeated and her hair was down, when she was kidnapped by the sixers and looked hot and pissed
Idea for a story: she survived and was held hostage by the sixers, she has to fight/run away from them, but she can’t because she’s too hurt and far from terra nova and so she just makes their life hell while she waits for the rescue (that would have been such a great season 2 plot)
Unpopular opinion: i don’t think she ever liked lucas much
Favorite relationship: i really like the friendship and mentor/mentee thing between her and taylor, i don’t really like taylor but together they’re pretty badass, i also love her relationship with jim
Favorite headcanon: she had a sister or a brother in the future and now she just protects/mothers/adopts anyone that reminds her of them. and she had a bad life before enrolling in the army and she found her calling in service.

YEAR IN REVIEW : Film 2018
Good evening/afternoon/morning,
A few notes on the breakdown on my year at the movies. I saw a grand total of 134 films released in 2018. A fair amount thanks in great part to MoviePass and various streaming services. If you are a fan of comic book movies, I would like to extend to you a personal thank you as you kept the movies theaters afloat this year. However, with the exception of Black Panther, I was located in the auditorium just down the hall. Full disclosure: I did actually try and see Avengers : Infinity War, but two four year-old’s were not being parented correctly and I ended up walking out. I hope they enjoyed seeing their favorite heroes turn to dust. I also most notably missed Mary Poppins Returns, Aquaman, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Spider-Man:Into the Spiderverse, Oceans 8, and Fifty Shades Freed. One film I did have the privilege of seeing and would surely be in my top ten, Under the Silverlake, is technically not scheduled for release until the Spring of 2019. So look forward to hearing about it next year. All that being said, here is how I saw the movies this year. Enjoy.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Black Panther, Bodied, Boy Erased, First Reformed, Hearts Beat Loud, Hot Summer Nights, If Beale Street Could Talk, Isle of Dogs, Minding the Gap, Mission Impossible:Fallout, A Quiet Place, The Rider, Thunder Road, Tully, Won’t You Be My Neighbor
THE TOP TEN
10. The Miseducation of Cameron Post
This is the “other gay conversion camp” movie that sadly was overlooked in place of Boy Erased. I saw both, and while the latter packs some excellent performances, judging by my exposure to Christian camps, this was the one that rang most authentic.
9.  Suspiria
Coming on the heels of Luca Guadagnino’s masterpiece Call Me By Your Name, there was no other film I was looking forward to more in 2018 than Suspiria. I also wouldn’t believe they had the same director. This heavy on style remake of the 1977 horror classic of the same name is truly made in Guadagnino’s image. It was vile, erotic, funny, beautiful, and captivating often in the same breaths. The buzzed about “contortionist dance sequence” from CinemaCon lived up to its vomit inducing hype reminding me while I liked the film a great deal, it’s not for the squeamish.
8.  Vice
Some are saying it lionizes former Vice President Dick Cheney. Others are saying it runs his name through the dirt.Part biopic, more parts political satire. It is definitely more Dr. Stangelove than Lincoln in terms of story and tone.  In a somewhat packed theater, those looking for a straight biopic, who I imagine missed director Adam McKay’s previous works Anchorman and The Big Short were seen heading for the exits due to the amounts of silliness. Amy Adams gives a downright diabolical performance as Lynn Cheney often overshadowing that of her on screen husband.
7.  Annihilation
Alex Garland’s follow-up to Ex Machina is much bigger film which in his hands is not a bad thing. Natalie Portman plays a biologist looking for answers after her presumed dead husband suddenly returns from secret military assignment.Your typical “journey into the unknown” story is enhanced with amazing visuals, intriguing scientific concept, and chilling horror. I’m still haunted by the sounds coming out of that, uhh, lets just call it a bear.
6.  Burning
An American remake of Burning would clock in at 92 minutes and be forgotten immediately upon leaving the theater. This is why I’m glad this was in the hands  Chang-dong Lee, a director who focuses greatly on the human condition. Large amounts of the run time of Burning is dedicated to the emotions, reactions, and exploration of our characters. The Walking Dead’s Steven Yeun gives the supporting performance of the year as the mysterious Ben. A love-triangle, a missing girl, and burning greenhouses amount to the most rewarding cinematic experience I had in 2018.
5.  Roma
Roma is a film that asks of its viewer to almost meditate within it. Those familiar with director Alfonso Cuaron’s other films, Children of Men and Gravity, will find a more reserved and personal picture. The story of a maid and the middle class family she cares for in the Colonia Roma neighborhood of Mexico City is the most relatable and touching film of the year. First time actor Yalitza Aparicio gives one of the most award-worthy debut performances in recent memory as Cleo. Scenes have lingered in my mind since my viewing almost a month ago now, particularly a single-shot sequence of a family swimming into the ocean with no realization of how powerful the surf can be.
4.  The Favourite
This cheeky period COMEDY, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, had me laughing harder than any other film in 2018. The story of Queen Anne’s two most trusted advisers battle for her commendation is delicious and diabolical at every turn. The film relies strongly on the equally grand performances it’s three ladies Olivia Coleman, Rachel Weisz, and Emma Stone, but DO NOT, I repeat do not sleep on the duck races.
3. A Star is Born
A Star is Born has been a social and commercial juggernaut with hefty box office sales, record sales, music award nominations, and memes beyond galore. However, it’s also an excellent example of Hollywood at its nostalgic best. There are easy avenues director, star, screenwriter, songwriter, catering manager Bradley Cooper could have taken with the thrice revamped story, but he plays it very close to the chest. It’s well known within my circle of friends and family how much I truly adored Cooper as the burning out rock star Jackson Maine.. Or Jack as you told me at the bar you wanted to be called... Every line of dialogue. Every smirk. Every caring gesture to Allie, Lady Gaga in frankly the best thing she’s ever breathed life into. Everything works here. See it the biggest and loudest way possible.
2.  BlacKkKlansman
Here is my pick for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. It checks all the boxes. Great performances, screenplay, and direction with a great message tied in. I used to hold issue with Spike Lee’s political and social statements book-ending his films, but here it really works. Ron Stallworth, the excellent John David Washington, is Colorado Springs first African-American police officer, who on whim manages to infiltrate the local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan. He works as the voice on the phone while his partner is the nice upstanding wh-ite man they are seeing. What follows is a wild, funny, thrilling, and cautionary tale that rings truer in 2018 than its setting of the 1970s.
1. Sorry To Bother You
I saw Sorry To Bother You on July 16, 2018. It has held my number one spot for almost seven full months. Leaving the theater I had a feeling I have not had in a movie since 2003, “Well I’ve never seen anything like that before!” That alone holds a lot of weight after watching 133 other films this year that I could compare to something previous. The feature film directorial debut from The Coup musician Boots Riley ten years from now, much in the same way Pulp Fiction and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind are viewed, will be seen as “the norm” and a turning point in the way movies in its genre are made. I realize that is high praise, but risks are taken here where lesser films have flown off the rails. Somehow Riley takes what many would deem “absolutely insane” and makes it work. The performance of Lakeith Stanfield has been grossly unmerited all award season and is one of the best of the year. No other performance this year is asked to navigate the varying levels of despair, satire, and rage than Stanfield. Sorry To Bother You arrives without training wheels or a brake, possibly even handle bars. Enjoy the ride because you’ve never been on one like it before.

One Hundred Years Ago, a Four-Day Race Riot Engulfed Washington D.C.
Tumblr media
By all accounts, the 1919 Fourth of July celebration in Washington, D.C., was one for the ages. Coming right on the heels of the end of the Great War, and with President Woodrow Wilson’s League of Nations peace plan still very much alive, Independence Day was a symbolic coming out party for the United States of America on the global stage.
The local hacks sure played it up that way. Under the headline “Gorgeous Display As Jubilee Finale,” the Washington Evening Star described the Independence Day festivities as if the newspaper was owned by a sparklers and cherry bombs conglomerate:
A ‘blaze of glory’ that easily surpassed any pyrotechnic display ever seen in Washington marked the close of the city’s most elaborate Fourth of July celebration last night, both the quantity and magnificence of the fireworks overshadowing anything of the kind seen in former years.
It was one of a number of stories in the newspaper extolling American virtues, including an article detailing a stirring speech given by President Wilson on the deck of a presidential steamer, the George Washington, in between tug-of-war bouts between Army and Navy teams. President Wilson’s remarks declared it “the most tremendous Fourth of July ever imagined, for we have opened its franchise to the whole world.”
Two weeks later, a brutal race riot would sweep across the city.
**********
The riot broke out as so many others have broken out: following a white woman’s claim that black men had wronged her. As the Washington Post recently outlined, attacks in the weeks prior led to sensational headlines, massive showings of police force, scores of unfounded arrests, and an escalation of tensions throughout the city. In the July 18 incident that put the match to the tinder, 19-year-old Elsie Stephnick was walking to her home on 9th St. SW from her job at the Bureau of Engraving just a few blocks away when two African-American men allegedly collided with her and tried to steal her umbrella. The Evening Star reported her description of the “colored assailants” as “a short dark man” and a “taller man with a ‘bumpy’ face.” Stephnick claimed she staved them off until a carload of white men came to her aid. (Other than her word, no evidence or report suggests anything more than an attempted pilfering, if it even occurred in the first place.) Stephnick was married to a Naval Aviation Corps employee, and the story made the rounds among white soldiers and sailors in Washington on weekend holiday.
The D.C. police quickly arrested Charles Ralls, a black man, for the alleged attack, but the tale quickly grew taller with each telling, a game of racist telephone that turned what was at worst a minor skirmish into marauding gangs of African-American rapists who’d been terrorizing the city for months. Four daily newspapers, in a heated fight for readers, fueled the fire with headlines like the Washington Post’s “Negroes Attack Girl. White Men Vainly Pursue” and the Washington Times’ “Negro Thugs.” The stories would get picked up on the newswires and made their way into papers across the nation.
Police questioned Ralls, upon which Stephnick’s husband, John, became convinced he was one of the men who had attacked his wife. A group of servicemen met up on Saturday night to get revenge, and as historian David F. Krugler describes the scene in 1919: The Year of Racial Violence, it didn’t take much time for an angry assemblage to form: “The result was a mob in uniform.”
More than 100 servicemen, after hours of heavy drinking, gathered outside the illicit taverns, brothels and pool halls of the seedy neighborhood known as “Murder Bay,” today home to the federal buildings hugging Pennsylvania Ave NW. (Though not instituted nationwide yet, the District had already fallen under the lightly enforced spell of Prohibition.) “Brandishing pipes, clubs, sticks, and pistols,” the mob of veterans marched south across the Mall to a poor, black neighborhood then known as Bloodfield. George Montgomery, a 55-year-old man out buying produce, was the first to take a beating. The men soon spotted Ralls and his wife and began assaulting them until they broke free and ran home.
For four days, Washington, D.C. became a battlefield with no real defense against the rampaging around the White House, the War Department, and the Capitol, and in predominantly black neighborhoods like LeDroit Park around Howard University, the U Street district, the Seventh St. commercial corridor, and even on random streets where unfortunate souls found themselves. That night, a black man named Lawrence Johnson was thrashed about the head by Marines wielding handkerchiefs filled with rocks, until that got tiring and a pipe was used to bash him bloody on the sidewalk, just outside the White House.
“There have been race riots throughout the breadth of American history, in every decade since the founding of the country, and the worst of it was in 1919,” says Cameron McWhirter, a Wall Street Journal reporter and author of Red Summer: The Summer of 1919 and the Awakening of Black America. “Every single one was instigated by white mobs and Washington was the pinnacle if for no other reason than the symbolism. When the sailors and soldiers gathered to raise hell over race, it was at the Peace Monument in front of the Capitol, which was erected to say we’re one nation following the Civil War.”
**********
The term “Red Summer,” coined by the NAACP’s first black executive field secretary James Weldon Johnson (who also wrote “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing,” now commonly known as “The Black National Anthem), referred to the bloodshed being spilled in race riots across the country. From April to November, hundreds of Americans, mostly black, would die, and thousands more were injured. Lynchings and indiscriminate killings sparked 25 conflicts in small towns like Millen, Georgia, and in major cities such as Charleston, Chicago and Cleveland. Elaine, Arkansas, saw the most horrifying of all when 237 black sharecroppers were murdered over two days for trying to form a union. It was a year that would see 78 lynchings and 11 black men burned alive at the stake.
Cultural, economic and military factors combined in 1919 to create conditions ripe for strife. D.W. Griffith’s 1915 Birth of a Nation—screened at the White House and enthusiastically received by President Wilson—glorified the Ku Klux Klan’s white-hooded terrorists as heroes, portraying the organization as saviors of southern white women during Reconstruction. The movie was a blockbuster and helped bring about a rebirth of the Klan, which grew from a few thousand members pre-release to estimates of 4-8 million by the mid 1920s. On July 6, 1919, local newspapers reported the Klan rode into Montgomery County—just outside Washington, D.C.—for the first time in 50 years.
Meanwhile, the Great Migration saw tens of thousands of blacks move from the cotton fields of the South to the factories of the North. Soldiers returning from World War I sought jobs, too. Organized labor grew, as did labor unrest, and the Communist Party of the United States arose as an offshoot of the Socialist Party. As McWhirter writes, “The Red Summer arrived in tandem with the Red Scare.” A fear of radicalism spread, especially toward blacks who no longer acquiesced to the pre-World War I social order.
The Red Summer was a moment when black citizens showed they had had enough, and fought back. Roughly 375,000 African-Americans served in World War I, and upon returning home, felt newly emboldened to fight for their rights. The righteous indignation was captured in a July poem, first published in The Liberator by seminal Harlem Renaissance writer Claude McKay. “If We Must Die” was the Red Summer anthem, a rousing 14-line verse ending with a literal call to arms:
What though before us lies the open grave?
Like men we’ll face the murderous, cowardly pack,
Pressed to the wall, dying, but fighting back!
The emerging resistance also saw itself reflected in the NAACP’s adoption of a more activist platform, flexing its strength in support of H.R. 11279, the anti-lynching bill first introduced in Congress by Congressman Leonidas Dyer of Missouri in 1918. The growth of the NAACP in 1919 was astounding, more than doubling its membership from 44,000 to 91,000.
**********
In 1919, some 110,000 African-Americans (roughly a quarter of the city’s population) called Washington, D.C. home, more than any other American city. McWhirter describes it as “black America’s leading cultural and financial center,” with more well-off African-Americans than anywhere else and numerous steady decent-paying middle-class jobs working for politicians, bureaucrats, and the federal government, especially during the war effort. Black prosperity, though, was an affront to many white veterans who felt they had come back to a different country than the one they’d left, even though a number of black soldiers in the 372nd Infantry, comprised of National Guard units from Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio, Tennessee and the District of Columbia, had been awarded the Croix de Guerre, France’s highest military honor.
“There were two major problems for soldiers returning after World War I,” says John M. Cooper Jr., professor emeritus in the history department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the author of Woodrow Wilson: A Biography. “You have all these Doughboys coming back flooding the labor market, so there’s unemployment. You also have the lifting of the wartime price controls, so there’s rampant inflation, which was called ‘High Cost of Living.’ In early August, Wilson gave his last speech before his stroke about the HCL and basically said everyone should be restrained in their spending because sorry, the government can do very little about it.’”
The same could have been said, at least initially, for the spread of violence in D.C. that summer as the white mob’s collective anger came down on whatever unfortunate black person came across their path. White servicemen yanked blacks off of streetcars, pummeling them on the sidewalks until police showed up, when they would disperse and re-form, an amorphous mob that expanded on the night of Sunday, July 20, when a hundred more men stomped from the Navy Yard to terrorize local black residents. Gangs of rioters piled into “terror cars,” the street name for Model-Ts used in indiscriminate drive-by shootings. Carter Goodwin Woodson, a noted black historian who was dean of Howard University at the time, later recalled the horrors he witnessed after hiding in the shadows for his safety: The mob “caught a Negro and deliberately helped him up as one would a beef for slaughter,” he wrote, “and when they had conveniently adjusted him for lynching they shot him.”
Over the course of the weekend, newspapers continued to stoke the fires, reporting that 500 revolvers had been sold at pawn shops as battle lines were being drawn. A notorious Washington Post front page story on Monday was headlined “Mobilization for Tonight” and urged every able-bodied serviceman to join a “‘clean-up’ that will cause the events of the last two evenings to pale into insignificance,” a barely coded call to inflict more pain upon the black community.
The white throngs continued to unleash violence through mid-morning on Monday, when a group of black men drove a terror car of their own past the Navy Hospital and fired on patients milling about outside. To combat the “reign of hysteria and terror,” the city’s black newspaper, the Washington Bee, urged blacks to arm themselves, and a blistering market of firearms and ammunition purchased in Baltimore were smuggled into Washington. Rumors hit the streets that Howard University ROTC officers were handing out guns and ammo. Barricades were set up around Howard and the U Street area with rooftops patrolled by black men with rifles, including veterans of World War I.
Meanwhile, some 400 white men heeded the Washington Post’s call at 9 p.m. and united at the Knights of Columbus recreation center on Pennsylvania Avenue at 7th St. NW. Victims of the violence filled the segregated hospitals and morgues, as dozens were injured and at least four were killed. According to the Washington Post, the first person killed was Randall Neale, a 22-year-old black man fatally shot in the chest by Marines said to be passing in a car. The Washington Bee reported Neale was just back from the war, describing his death as “one of the more cowardly murders that was ever perpetrated upon a young man who had been to France to fight for world democracy.” Sgt. Randall Neale would be buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
Neval Thomas, a history teacher at Washington’s Dunbar High School and an activist who would be appointed to the NAACP board of directors in 1919 wrote that no longer would white people wreak havoc with impunity, that blacks would “die for their race, and defy the white mob.”
One incident in particular stands out amidst the news reports. Near Union Station, a 17-year-old black girl named Carrie Johnson was hiding under her bed on the second floor as 1,000 rioters stormed the area. Responding to reports of someone firing from the building’s roof, police broke down her bedroom door. Johnson shot and killed 29-year-old Metropolitan Police Detective Harry Wilson and claimed self-defense. She became a folk hero in the black press. A poem published in the Afro-American in August 1919 baldly stated: “You read about Carrie Johnson, who was only seventeen, She killed a detective wasn’t she brave and keen.” Johnson was charged with first-degree murder. In 1921, she was convicted of manslaughter, but a separate judge overturned the verdict after accepting that she feared for her life and acted in self-defense. Within two years, Johnson was a free woman.
The worst hours of the racial war petered out early Tuesday morning as the rioters exhausted themselves.
**********
The claims of a violent attack on Elsie Stephnick were sketchy at best, but given the hostility felt by many white residents of the city and the fact that the “white woman ravaged by black men” story spread so quickly, there is probably little chance the early rioting could have been prevented. However, nobody attempted to prevent escalation.
Long before Congress granted D.C. home rule in 1973, the city was run by three presidentially appointed district commissioners. Former Tennessee newspaperman Louis “Brownie” Brownlow, given the job in 1915 based on his friendship with Woodrow Wilson, dithered while Washington exploded, sticking to his misguided plan to have the city’s 700-person police force, home auxiliary guards, and loaned troops keep things calm. It was a suspect decision given that D.C. falls under federal jurisdiction and Brownlow could have easily called up disciplined World War I troops from any of the nearby military installations. Later, Brownlow laid the blame at the foot of outside communist agitators. He was still fuming about it when his autobiography, A Passion for Politics, was published in 1955.
Only on Tuesday, July 22, did President Wilson give authorization to mobilize 2,000 soldiers. Crowds were dispersed from street corners, theaters and bars were closed, auto traffic was restricted, and tanks equipped with machine guns were brought in from Fort Meade, 25 miles away in Maryland. Limited violence arose that night, but what really brought calm to the capital was a relentless hot summer night rainstorm.
Still, the damage was done, and not just to the nation’s capitol. The black press in America called out Wilson’s unwillingness to intercede and bring peace, while newspapers in Germany and Japan criticized him for promoting the League of Nations while black citizens were enduring a summer of hell across the country—and in his own backyard. The Atlanta Independent declared, “Our president seems to be in utter ignorance of the conditions obtaining at his door.”
A full accounting of the Washington D.C. riot wasn’t on anyone’s mind, at least not anyone in power. No official death toll was ever given; at the time the “official” number was seven, while it’s now believed around 40 were slain. Similar accountings, of injury and property damage, were also never made by the government.
By the time the rain let up and the last soldier left Washington D.C. on Sunday, July 27, the violence and tragedy of Red Summer had moved west. On the very same day, Chicago erupted in its own, even bloodier, 1919 race war that began when an African-American teenager was hit in the head by a rock thrown by a white man and drown in Lake Michigan for the crime of swimming where he wasn’t supposed to be.

The violence in D.C., though, marked a flashpoint in American racial dynamics. The 20th-century fight against the white power structure was at hand even if the riot itself was swept under the rug. Following the Washington race war, a ”Southern black woman,” as she identified herself, wrote a letter to the NAACP magazine, The Crisis, praising blacks for fighting back:
The Washington riot gave me a thrill that comes once in a l lifetime …at last our men had stood up like men…I stood up alone in my room…and exclaimed aloud, ‘Oh I thank God, thank God.’ The pent up horror, grief and humiliation of a life time — half a century — was being stripped from me.

Pit-pat
Oops I did it again yikers lmao
Trigger Warnings: mentions of blood and death. Proceed at your own risk.
Pit-pat.
“God fucking dammit, why are you still awake Mason?”
“I can’t sleep.”
Dark brown eyes blinked tiredly as he sat up, groaning in frustration and looking at the younger man standing on the other side of the room. His pale pink hoodie was looking older and older with each new day, light brown hair mussed from so much pulling. Mason stared back at the tired man with blank eyes, frozen stiff as the older glared.
“Eri-”
“Don’t call me that.”
A few moments of silence followed his remark as a gentle hand was placed on his shoulder.
“Swagger, leave him be. He’ll sleep when he feels like it.”
“Doesn’t help the fact the rest of us are dead fucking tired and this dumbass decides to just walk around like he owns the place.”
Mason still hadn’t moved from his spot.
“I know you’ve had a long day, but you know how he gets. Come on, come back to bed.”
With a last glance at the younger man standing like a statue, Swagger slowly laid back down, feeling as the other man sighed softly and also laid back down beside him. They placed their head on Swagger’s chest and traced patterns into the worn-out grey shirt the older man wore, glancing back up when he felt a hand on his back.
Pit-pat.
“Ignore him, just try and get you rest.”
“How can the others just sleep through this?” he said aloud, hoping Mason would hear him and knock it off.
Pit-pat.
Nope, he was wrong.
“Cam, tell me a story.”
“What kind of story?” the taller man asked, not surprised at the sudden statement. He felt Swagger shrug his shoulders underneath him, his chest rising and falling slowly and his heart beating calmly.
“Well let’s see. . a long time ago, there lived this knight. He was the best the land had seen, succeeding in all his lessons and challenges his teachers put before him. When the king saw this, he gifted this knight a sword. This sword was unlike all others any warrior had seen before. It was beautiful, covered in heavy iron and precious diamonds too rare to be found anywhere else.”
“One day, the king’s wife fell severely ill, so the king gave the knight a mission. He was to travel across the lands to find a sorcerer named Fitz, who had the only known cure to his beloved wife’s sickness. So the knight gathered his things and set out on the journey across mountains and oceans, in search of said sorcerer.”
Swagger closed his eyes and imagined himself to be the knight, a heavy helmet with silver and gold sitting atop his head and armour mounting his body. On his hip was the sword the king had gifted him, glinting proudly in the sun as he crossed the ocean blue. Cam stared up at the tired man with a soft smile, golden curls falling against the other’s chest as he cleared his throat and continued his story.
Pit-pat.
“After many tiresome weeks of searching, the knight found himself stranded in the woods, surrounded with nothing but the tall trees and endless brush. In a desperate attempt to save himself, he started running. Deeper and deeper into the woods he went, the only noises being that of the lush hitting against his armour, the metal clinking with his every movement, and his heavy breath echoing loudly in his helmet.”
“Just as he started giving up hope of getting out, he stumbled upon a clearing in the woods, a little shack in the middle of the thick flora. After endless weeks of searching, he had found the sorcerer. Fitz told him he would heal the queen, under one condition.”
Pit-pat.
Looking over at Mason, Swagger caught sight of the younger man in the same spot, however, he was facing the instead, frozen in place like a painting. Looking back up at the ceiling, Swagger once again closed his eyes, bandaged hand grabbing Cam’s and squeezing it gently.
“The knight had to find the heart of the strongest and most courageous man in all the lands and bring it forth to complete the potion. So off he went, searching high and low for a man who fit the description. He slaughtered hundreds with his mighty sword, silver caked in blood and no longer shining like before. In a last attempt to bring forth the heart of a strong man, he stopped and took in his reflection in the running water of a river, looking at the crimson stains covering his armour and sword.”
“It was at that moment that realization hit him. But by then, it was already too late. He had left a bloody trail behind him, soiling his honour and destroying his reputation. He had not only killed men who he met on the way, but he had also killed some of his closest companions as well, their blood the brightest on his armour. In the end, he had failed to bring forth the potion to save the queen, and she tragically passed, leaving behind a heartbroken husband and motherless children. The king soon after had him hanged for failing to complete his duties, and thus, the once strongest knight fell victim to the gallows.”
Swagger shivered under Cam, his brows scrunched as he silently took in the story. Cam stayed quiet on his chest, closing his own eyes to listen to the heartbeat of the other.
“That. . was rather dark. .”
“You told me to tell you a story.”
Swagger hummed in response as the room grew quiet, a tired yawn leaving chapped lips. Looking over to his right, above the bed, he watched at the night outside grew brighter, birds starting to chirp gently in the distance.
Had he really not slept all night?
Pit-pat.
“Looks like it’s going to be morning soon.”
“Yeah, it does.”
“You know what that means.”
Swagger sighed as Cam sat up slightly, leaning against his bent arm on the bed and staring down into the tired chocolate brown eyes he grew so fond of.
“Please don’t go. Stay, just a while longer, please?”
“You know I can’t, Swagger.”
The older man sat up in silence as he watched Cam crawl out of bed, wearing a wrinkled white shirt and faded jeans. Calling Mason over, the two men stood by the edge of the bed, watching Swagger with blank eyes. The older frowned as he laid back down, rolling on his side to watch them.
“Go to sleep, Swags. You’ll feel better later today.”
He wanted to respond to them, he really did, but a sudden wave of sleepiness overtook him, causing him to yawn and close his eyes for good, falling into a dreamless slumber.
Pit-pat.
The brown-eyed man later found himself sitting in a courtroom, looking up at the judge with a blank stare as his voice echoed around the room.
“Eric Vivian Matthews, you have been found not guilty to the murders of your 5 roommates, of which include Cameron McKay, Mason Bradford, Matt Stein, Toby Eaton, and Jay Nicholls by reason of insanity and will be committed to a psychiatric facility for life.”
As the courtroom exploded in protests and cries from the grieving family members and reporters, Swagger couldn’t help but zone out, lost in his own fairytale and wondering.
When was Cam coming back?
