Hear me out: Nightwing solo, neon noir aesthetic, but he fights like John Wick, has similar values to captain America, and goes on adventures as Agent 37 (in his Nightwing get up). Then comes home to his dog in bludhaven to chill and watch really campy hilarious horror movies like Sleepaway Camp.

Honestly, it is what we deserve!

Also legit though, what a mood. Dick deserves his own vibes. Try too hard for serious and you get chuck dixon going for batman lite vibes. Too silly and you get grayson. There needs to be something that fits him and is unique to just him before DC steals it for another batkid

I've always been so curious, who do you think started Ziggy's nickname? Do you think she would want to hear it after nightwing? And do you think Nick ever willingly called her Christine? Or would want to?

So the album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars came out in 1972 and Bowie lived the character from then until 1973. So Bowie himself, being a rock star and all, was a big inspiration and draw for the youth then, and the Ziggy character, beyond having great aesthetics was "an androgynous, alien rock star who came to Earth before an impending apocalyptic disaster to deliver a message of hope". I think something like that hit young tween Ziggy (I'm thinking she was roughly 16-17 in 78 so around 10 when it came out but being small town Ohio reached her at 11 or 12, maybe 13) like a ton of bricks. I think to a girl like Ziggy, who felt the usual puberty makes me think I'm a monster especially if you're a girl compounded by being a friendless freak in a poor, violent town, that would have been THE lifeline. We know how teen girls can get with music idols. And this is to the power of a thousand. Ziggy Stardust was a lonely alien on Earth, JUST LIKE HOW SHE FEELS. Christine never fit right but Ziggy? Rock and roll rebellion cool and free and owning that weirdness? Now that's who she is.

So I think she took the name for herself and made it the only name people could call her. And I doubt there was a big fight; it's not that off from nicknames that could sprout from Christine, and it's said she doesn't really have friends or family beyond Cindy who uses it. Plus we're made to understand she *made* everyone call her that even the jerk kids at Camp. They probably call her that at school, like the teachers and stuff. Nick even does it to the paramedics until they're like "no, her legal name". The first and key one to go with it was Cindy and after that it all followed. She also keeps it post Nightwing, per 1666/1994 Part 2. It's *her* name. I mean it as in she literally renamed herself and thinks of herself under that name. And Nick does love her and accept that for her and can make the connection as to why. Secretly liking Bowie with a dad like his would be its own rebellion too.

So no, he doesn't think of her as Christine. I think he would only use it in situations like the paramedics because it isn't her *legal* name, but she's clearly insulted when people use it. He wouldn't want to, because it's not really her name and why would he do that? She's Ziggy to him. I mean unless he was trying to like revive her and thought it might jolt her awake in outrage. Then he might call her Christine.

You ever think about the fact that Dick Grayson’s parents were world famous acrobats? Like, at the absolute height of their chosen skillset? That for all that they were lower class because they were part of a traveling circus that was always on the verge of bankruptcy, they were widely regarded as THE reason that the circus was able to hang on at all, in a time when most other circuses had long since ceased to be profitable? With them being the big-name draw that got people to buy tickets, and it being a frequently used plot point that the circus probably wouldn’t have survived after their deaths if not for the patronage of people like Bruce Wayne, Dick Grayson using his own money, or perhaps the Court of Owls making sure their investment and assassin training camp stayed afloat?

I mean, just thinking about how often Dick had to hear how lucky he was to be taken in by Bruce, how he got to grow up in the lap of luxury and had all these opportunities, that even as tragic as it was to lose his parents at such a young age, at least it led to all these doors being opened that never would have been a possibility for Dick otherwise....

Not to mention how frequently his family and friends make jokes about his original circus-inspired costumes as Robin and Nightwing....

Idk, just imagine just how often Dick Grayson, with his oh so infamous temper, has had to listen to crap like that and fight back the urge to tell people to shut the fuck up, like his life as AN EIGHT YEAR OLD INTERNATIONALLY FAMOUS ACROBAT was so terrible. Like his parents were just nobodies that he was kinda almost better off without, instead of them being two highly trained, highly skilled, highly praised athletes at the absolute apex of human ability, capable of feats that literally billions of other people couldn’t even dream of being able to do.

Imagine how often Dick Grayson has had to keep himself from snapping at his siblings for making jokes about the short pants and high collars that mimicked the aesthetics of his parents and the generations of aerialists in his family before them, who spent decades perfecting their craft and inventing tricks that ONLY his family was capable of, tricks that ONLY the Batfamily is capable of because it was Dick who taught them everything they knew about acrobatics, not Bruce....just like his parents had taught him, and their parents taught them, and so on, a time honored tradition whose origin is considered completely irrelevant in the Batman books and in the interactions with a family who doesn’t even think to consider paying their respects to all the members of Dick’s family without whom they couldn’t do half of what it is they do.

People never forget that its Dick’s origins as an acrobat that make him only of the most capable fighters in the DC universe, and indeed, in the Batfamily as well.....but they always forget that means it MATTERS that Dick wasn’t just born with those skills....he was raised to have them, trained from birth in the art of specific movements just as much as Cass was, even though in entirely different ways and for entirely different purposes. Dick Grayson’s parents might have been murdered when he was eight, but the extremely capable Nightwing, a fighter at the absolute top tier of DC’s fighters, is the ATHLETE he is, not just because of Bruce’s training....but because of everything he already had before he met Bruce, thanks to two of the greatest athletes in the world, aka his biological parents.

stupidest thing you’ve ever done?: Last time I did this tag it was a story about scaling a roof, and instead of just retelling it I found another story and it also involved climbing high places. So when I was on a swim camp in another country I was locked out of my room. Our balcony 'door’ was open, but when I say balcony I mean one of those really mini ones that are basically just a railing for us to leave out costumes on during the day so they could dry. My boyfriend at the time had got into his room by climbing over from his neighbour's balcony and I think you can see where this is going. I decided I could do it too, but the difference was he went through the next room, I went across from about five rooms over. This was really high up btw, we were on the tenth floor or something. I survived, didn’t get caught, and got into my room, but it was still very stupid. I twisted my ankle and caught my hand on spikey edge that caused me to bleed a little. When you’re on a sports training camp any kinda injury is just the most annoying thing though both of them did heal quickly. l Don’t climb the outside of buildings, it’s not smart.

Describe yourself in aesthetics: Rain on a window, the sky after a storm with heavy clouds and the sun peaking through, an autumn tree being shook by the wind, that one crooked petal on an otherwise perfect rose with sharp thorns, bathwater that used to be warm but is quickly turning lukewarm, coffee thats just a bit too strong, a single candle with a flickering flame lighting up a dark room, a clear voice echoing through the mountains, stacks of dusty books, nails with dirt under them, scraped knees and bruised knuckles, tan fingers playing on a piano
