A Wolf Among Thieves part 2

Okay, Vajlean wasn't going to be useful here, so the only ones he'd have left to ask was the kids. Something he had expressly NOT wanted to do.

He'd said more than once they were naïve. He'd come to realize it wasn't that they were ignorant of how the world worked, they knew better than most. It was that they refused to accept it so long as they were alive to change it. But in the end they were still kids and they could be naïve enough to not question certain things. Like what being a Persona User could mean.

Zenkichi vividly remembered the first half of his trip into the Kyoto Jail. It was terrifying, ducking around pillars and knowing being seen would mean death. And how he moved just like in the real world. Then when Valjean awakened it changed, he was jumping onto roofs and practically teleporting behind cover like it was second nature. None of the kids had taught him how to do that, just like swinging that giant sword it came naturally.

He had been changed, remade to adapt to the Metaverse. And he had been carefully not thinking about if that followed in the real world. That more than his outlook had changed, that he was now something not quite human. Something other. And the last thing he'd wanted was this hanging over the kids. But he had to know...

Kurusu picked up immediately. "Everything okay, Wolf?" His voice in full Joker mode.

"I was just wondering something. After you awoke to Arsène did anything...weird happen to you."

The other side of the line was quiet for a moment. "I started traveling into the depth of Tokyo's collective subconscious so I could chide some peoples repressed feelings and combat other ones using my rebellious spirit as a mystical weapon. I also went directly in the minds of some of the most evil people I've ever met in order to steal a part of their soul that was making them into twisted bastards in the first place, then selling it for cash at a pawn shop so we could further fund supplies for our exploits. I escaped jail by pulling a trick with reality so the assassin posing as my teammate shot the memory of me being in my cell instead of my actual self. I have killed at least three gods, the first one by taking the offered power of everyone I'd helped and turning it into a fallen angel with a gun. The personification of Hope lives in my room and for reasons unbeknownst to me or him is trapped in the form of a cat. He can also turn into a bus. My friends and I were brought into the Metaverse for a Dance Off that Lavenza thinks I don't remember, but I totally do."

"Okay, okay. Point taken. I should have specified. I didn't mean weird events. I meant like, weird with your body."

"Is this a puberty talk? Because I can assure you I know about the birds and the bees-"

"Not that!" Thank GOD Akane wasn't home. "Look, I got into a bar fight tonight. The fight itself wasn't important, but while I was fighting I started healing, like I do in the Metaverse when I'm not in a Fury. And it's not just the injuries I got during the fight. All the little everyday cuts and bruises are gone and I am doing my best not to freak out, but I am very much freaking out." He could hear Morgana's voice in his head telling him to get it together, just like his first foray into the Metaverse. It didn't help then and it wasn't helping now.

"I haven't noticed anything like that, but none of the rest of us have regenerative abilities like yours." Kuruso said gently and despite himself Zenkichi felt himself calming down ever so slightly. "I know some people who might be able to give us answers. Igor would definitely know, but he's more of a 'you don't call him, he calls you' guy, so he might take a while to find. Lavenza I can get to, she may not know all the answers, but she should know something. We'll find you answers."

"Thank you. And sorry, for falling apart on the phone." Zenkichi said sheepishly.

"It's not a problem, you're one of us now, and we look after our own." Because no one else would was unsaid.

Zenkichi was having dinner with Akane when his phone buzzed. He felt a bit guilty for the quick glance he took at it, but he did work a job where people's lives could depend on his response time.

Have some answers. Den tonight.

"Work?" Akane asked with a bit of disdain. "Just an informant updating me on his progress." He assured her. "Nothing worth interrupting dinner for." Not to mention said informant and his crew would rake him over the coals if he didn't spend enough time with his daughter. Those kids...

Still the Den though. Zenkichi had mixed feelings on the place. It was perfect for their purposes. He just hated how much the location shouldn't exist.

It had apparently manifested during the Yaldaboath incident. A small corner of the metaverse that had attuned to the Phantom Thieves, almost like a one room palace (even if it was a very big room). It had vanished with the rest of the metaverse after that incident had ended, but Sophie had gotten the idea if her 'sister' Emma had managed to have so much control of the metaverse, she could manage one location.

Because it worked like a Jail, all they had to do was enter the passcode and they'd be taken there, regardless from where in Japan they were, and be returned to the same spot. It helped with him in Kyoto, most of the kids in Tokyo, and Sophie who knew where. Incredible convenient, but it gave him the heebie jeebies.

Once Akane was asleep he took out his phone. "For one so desperate for answers, you certainly fear them." His golden eyed reflection said mockingly.

Zenkichi certainly regretted his desperate attempt to talk to his persona. Not only had it not gotten him anything, but Valjean seemingly took it as an invitation to chat with him whenever he saw his reflection which was...annoying (Even if his commentary during boring meetings was hilarious). Still, Zenkichi ignored him and pulled up the custom EMMA-like interface. "Name: Thieves' Den Passcode: I am Thou."

His house dissolved around him and he found himself in the bright red room. But at the same time his heart sank. He'd expected to find Kurusu. And the leader of the Phantom Thieves was there - along with every other member.

So much for not worrying them.

"Hey Gramps," Sakamoto gave him a tiny salute. He was in his Phantom Thief attire with him mask up around his forehead. Most of them were, save Takamaki who was wearing a school uniform.

It seemed strange to him how she didn't actually like her outfit. She'd grown used to it, but didn't think it was cool, the way the others Including him felt about their attire. Had she just gotten so used to being seen as a sex object between her modeling work and Kamoshida's advances that that's how she saw herself even if she hated it.

He'd suggest therapy, but apparently the last time one of these kids tried therapy the therapist had turned himself into a god and tried to rewrite reality into his own Utopia, so that was probably out.

What even was his life?

"So answers?"

"Well, Igor continues his streak of not being there when I need him." There was no mistaking the frustration in his tone. "But Lavenza told me what she could, and we've been running some experiments."

"I could not participate in the experiments as I have no body outside the metaverse, so I helped compile the data." Sophie said brightly.

The kids had been experimenting on themselves?

"So according to Lavenza, awakening to a Persona sort of grants you a dual citizenship in the Metaverse. That's why it's easier for us to navigate after an awakening. We count as a local for all intents and purposes. Also our Personas being a part of us mean we're intrinsically connected."

"It's harder to tell for the mot part with we who have only one persona," Niijima stated. "But Akira's wildcard ability showed that what we do and how we train our bodies does effect our Personas, so it made sense for the reverse to be true."

"We also learned that being a Persona user doesn't automatically make you heal faster, though wounds healed in the metaverse would stay healed in our reality." Sakura continued. "So in an emergency we could use magic in the metaverse to heal a serious injury without the need for a hospital."

"Passive healing isn't common, but I do have some Persona's with a Regenerate ability. When I equipped them, I noticed the fast healing you mentioned did seem to effect me. So it's likely that you do have a variant for ValJean's ability and can heal yourself through fighting. You also probably have the reverse, but I'd prefer you didn't use it as we don't have access to healing magics outside the cognitive world."

"Don't worry, I have no plans to test out if I can tear myself apart in the real world." Because at this point he was honestly just going to assume he could and avoid it.

"Other than emotionally" He reflection snarked back.

You know what? "Also do you guys know how to keep you persona from snarking at you? ValJean's gotten kind of mouthy."

He got several blank looks in return.

"ValJean talks to you? Regularly?" Okumura ventured.

"Is that...? I'm guessing from your looks that's not normal?"

"My Persona only spoke to me when it first awakened." Takamaki looked around, as if confirming this with everyone else.

"The same with mine." Kitagawa nodded.

"Johana was a bit..." Niijima winced . "'I see you've found you're justice, pray do not loose sight of it again.'" She quoted. "I felt like I'd disappointed my mom. I have a hard time imagining just being able to chat with her."

"For real?" Sakamoto looked surprised. "Cap was cool. Told be since my name was already mud, I might as well let loose and wreck havoc. I'd love to have the chance to actually talk with him."

"Zenkichi, under what circumstance did ValJean start talking to you?" Morgana inquired thoughtfully.

"I wanted to ask him about the healing thing. But since it turns out Personas only know what the human they come from knows, he had zilch. And then he never shut up." Zenkichi rolled his eyes.

"Really?" Kurusu of all people looked surprised. "I always got the impression Arséne knew a lot he wasn't telling me. Maybe it's another wildcard thing?"

Sakamoto snorted. "Dude I think it's a you thing. When you're on you give this aura like you have all the answers and hold all the cards. And Arséne's a part of you so...yeah. I think you just played yourself, man."

While the rest of the Phantom Thieves laughed at the bewildered look on their leader, Morgana looked thoughtful. "It makes a certain amount of sense." Morgana allowed, tail twitching. "Personas are part of one's cognition and as such can be shaped by our perceptions. None of us had a persona talk to us outside an awakening, so we assumed just talking to a persona wasn't a thing that could happen. After all, we had accepted that part of us into ourselves. Zenkichi, you to at least some degree saw ValJean as a separate entity, at least enough to assume he'd know something you didn't. You expected him to be able to respond and because of that he was."

"Of course once he did respond that was it. Talking to him became part of your cognition of him. No putting that genie back in the bottle."

"Great." Zenkichi glared at his golden eyes reflection.

"It is not my fault you are ever the agent of your own undoing." ValJean grinned back.

"Having to listen to you forever is a hell of a price tag for admission into the Phantom Thieves." Zenkichi groused.

"Don't be silly, Valjean's not why you got in." Sakura snorted.

"He isn't?" Zenkichi was at least slightly satisfied to see his persona just as poleaxed. "I asked if it was that simple and you said yes."

"Oh, is that what you meant? Then the answer is no, becoming a Phantom thief is NOT as simple as awakening a Persona." Takamaki clarified.

"Yeah Gramps, thought you knew. You were a Phantom Thief before you entered that dungeon." Sakamoto laughed.

"I was?" If anything Zenkichi was even more confused.

"Get out of there. Run." Kurusu said the words calmly, unlike how he had yelled them the night Akane had been taken. "Those words. That moment."

"Please understand, we wanted to trust you before then." Niijima apologized. "But you're not the first member of 'law enforcement' to demand a deal. And they've never intended to keep their end not even....not even Sis." She clenched her fists, remember a Christmas morning she'd thought be filled with hope instead be replaced with anger and betrayal. "The intention was always for us to end up caged, dead or both."

"So by the time you showed up to blackmail us, we knew anyone working with the authorities was absolutely not to be trusted." Okumura further explained, which really made her 'We hate cops' attitude all the more understandable.

"But that moment was a line in the sand. You could sacrifice us for your career, All you had to do was nothing and you'd be set for life. A false hero for the country to praise." Kurusu continued to explain. "But instead you sacrificed your career for us. You gave warning, ruining your career and taking our place in interrogation." He locked eyes with Zenkichi who was suddenly and forcefully reminded that Joker knew what being on the wrong side of that table was like. Knew more than the others exactly the treatment Zenkichi would expect. "In that moment you had to choose if you were with us or them. And that is when you became a Phantom Thief."

Zenkichi felt a lump in his throat. "I just did was right."

"Exactly." said Sakura. "Exactly."

ValJean laughed. "Did the children not just tell you they have little to no experience with adults doing 'what was right' by them. You have their trust and you have earned it fairly."

He'd earned it. And to be honest that felt a little better than getting his place on the team because he had a Persona.

"So you've been keeping u with your cooking, right? What did you make for Akane for dinner tonight." Okumura's words were friendly, but her eyes were sharp with challenge. Kurursu had also sat up straighter, waiting for his response.

Those damn kids. His damn kids.

His?

Okay, he could deal with this revelation later. Right now he had to defend himself in the court of cooking

Honestly the original idea for this fic came from the P5 manga where the theives are playing cards and Joker keeps winning until one of the team accuses him of having a high-luck Persona equipped.

And if that carried over, why not other things? Like Zenkichi healing while he's fighting as long as he isn't using Fury

A camera comes into focus. Behind it, a girl with short black hair wearing a cropped red blouse and a grey pleated skirt can be seen sitting on a chair with her ankles hooked together. This is Noodle - the guitarist and singer for the up and coming band Strayz. On her lap is a sleeping kitten.

Thank you for agreeing to speak to me, Noodle.

Noodle shrugs. She seems more focused on the kitten than on me. I can’t blame her; it’s a cute kitten.

Our readers have a lot of questions for you and your band. For starters, I’m curious - what’s it like to be fourteen years old and already have a record deal?

Noodle hesitates.

It’s about time.

I struggle to hold back fond laughter.

Really? Strayz managed to get a record deal after only one show. I’m not a musician, but I’m certainly impressed.

Noodle stares down at the floor, scratching the kitten’s head.

…We spent a lot of time working on it.

The kitten meows, and Noodle leans over herself to look at it.

Before I ask anything else, we’ve got to know, who’s that? A mascot, maybe?

Noodle seems confused. I look at the cat, to help her understand what I’m talking about. Her eyes widen just barely under her fringe, and she holds the cat closer to herself.

…Oh. Uh, this is Lavenza. She’s my cat.

She’s adorable. I love cats.

I wait for her to say something else, but she doesn’t. Just stares at me like she’s waiting for something. I hurry to the next question.

Anyway! We all want to know, what’s your upcoming album going to be like? Any hints for us?

Noodle takes a moment to fix her messy fringe. Lavenza begins to climb onto her shoulder, and Noodle leans her head to the side to give her more room.

Uh, it’s just… like our other music.

Can you tell us what genre it is?

Noodle shrugs.

Keeping the secret, I see! So, what made you decide to start a band?

Noodle crossed and uncrossed her legs. Lavenza perched on the top of her head. Her lack of reaction was honestly admirable.

…I had to.

What do you mean, you had to?

No answer. Fair enough, but I’m determined to get to the bottom of this.

And was it really all your idea? Or did someone else make you want to do it?

Noodle frowns, and grabs the cat.

Why do people always ask that? Of course it was my idea. I did it.

Well, since you’re so young, it raises a lot of questions. How do your parents feel about your recent choices?

Before I’m even finished asking the question, Noodle has stood up. She bundles Lavenza in her arms, and walks out of the room without a word. I attempt to say something, but she isn’t listening.

The camera moves as I stand up, unsure whether to follow her or not. The rest of the band becomes visible. Murdoc flashes a grin at the camera, Stuart nervously watches Noodle, and Russel gives me a look that I can’t quite read, but gives me the impression means I shouldn’t try to say anything else.

The door slams shut, and the camera turns off

Scooby-Doo! and the Phantom Thieves (Formerly known as Scooby-Doo! Meets Persona 5)

DISCLAIMER: The following crossover you're about to experience is a reimagining and a reinterpretation of the main story of the hit Persona 5 Strikers video game, depicting a world entirely separate from the main flow of the Scooby-Doo franchise and the worldwide RPG Persona series. Say, it's just like the Dead Rising 2: Off the Record video game - a "new version of an existing story"

Synopsis: Worlds collide as the casts of SCOOBY-DOO! and PERSONA 5 team up in a crossover ordeal that is a re-interpretation and reimagining of the hit Persona 5 Strikers video game - an alternate version of the same story!

Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. gang - Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Shaggy - embark on what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation once they visit modern-day Tokyo, but only to have been interrupted when events of something strange and supernatural occurred during their time of fun and games…literally! They find themselves in an alternate version of Tokyo in the Metaverse called a Jail, where people’s desires are being taken by the ruler’s shadow called Monarchs, complete with cop-resembling monsters called Shadows. As they try to find a way to escape, Scooby and the gang have another mystery on their hands as they are put on high alert - this time, there are no guys in rubber masks.

SIDE: SD (Scooby-Doo): After wrapping up yet another mystery, Velma got an invite from her pen-pal, asking her to come to Shibuya to visit. Once she, Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo arrived in modern-day Tokyo, however, they are in for an unexpected and supernatural surprise! Thanks to a recently popular app they installed called EMMA, the Mystery Inc. gang ended up in an entirely, different Tokyo filled with cop-resembling monsters called Shadows. Luckily, two masked teenagers and a cartoonish-like, talking cat came to their aid, calling themselves the Phantom Thieves! Once they return to the real world, Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby realized that a series of cases involving a "change of heart" are happening all over the country of Japan and their new friends are being under suspicion by the police for the recent cases from last year and their involvement. The Scooby gang will have to help their new Persona-using friends clear their names in their longest, most unexpected mystery yet...

But there’s another team also on the case as the Scooby gang ran into…the Phantom Thieves of Hearts from Persona 5, consist of normal teenagers-turned-Persona users Ren Amamiya, Ryuji Sakamoto, Ann Takamaki, Yusuke Kitagawa, Makoto Niijima, Futaba Sakura, Haru Okumura…and their talking black cat, Morgana! Why? Because they had stumbled into this world as well, thanks to a popular app called EMMA. Not only that, but their camping trip on summer vacation together has turned into a road trip when they are being the prime suspects of a series of cases involving a change of heart in people that is happening not only Shibuya, but all over the country of Japan, currently investigated by the Tokyo branch of the Public Security Bureau.

SIDE: P5 (Persona 5): Months have passed since Ren Amamiya left Tokyo after his probation ended, and now he and Morgana return to the bustling streets of Shibuya in order to enjoy summer vacation with their old friends and comrades - Ryuji Sakamoto, Ann Takamaki, Yusuke Kitagawa, Makoto Niijima, Futaba Sakura, and Haru Okumura. Unfortunately, despite the celebration, the smiling faces of his former teammates and comrades-in-arms weren't the only things awaiting Ren's arrival. Summoned by Lavenza of the Velvet Room, Ren learned from her that a new, potential danger threatens to consume him and the entire world, which made him become a prisoner of fate once again. This led Ren to a sudden conclusion - the Metaverse that he and the Phantom Thieves had worked so hard to destroy has return in an unexpected way! One day, while shopping for camping stuff, Ren, Ryuji, and Morgana find themselves transported from the real world and into an alternate version of Shibuya in the Metaverse in their Phantom Thief attire, all due to a popular app they installed called EMMA that somehow acted as the new Meta-Nav. There, they fought Shadows that dressed like cops, encountered an A.I. named Sophia, and in an unexpected plot twist, they are joined by Mystery Inc., consisting of Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and their talking dog, Scooby-Doo, who are also on the case when they have accidentally entered the Metaverse through EMMA as well. Once they return to the real world, the Phantom Thieves reassembled again to unravel this new Metaverse called the Jail, only to find themselves being suspected by the police for being involved in a series of Change of Heart incidents all over the country. But what if the Phantom Thieves and the recently joined Sophia...turn to Mystery Inc. for help?

Thinking that this case is similar to their previous adventure from last year** (**See Persona 5) and that someone is framing them by not changing people’s hearts under the same reasons as them, the Phantom Thieves reluctantly turn to Mystery Inc. to help them crack the case, leading both groups to team up - that means Scooby-Doo and Morgana will have to get along, right? They are joined by Sophia, a sentient A.I. who can detect the presence of Jails; and Zenkichi Hasegawa, a member of Public Security who needs both the Phantom Thieves and Mystery Inc.’s help to catch the true perpetrator.

But when the bad guys labeled the Phantom Thieves as terrorists, Scooby-Doo and the gang bravely try to rescue them from getting arrested and Zenkichi's daughter, Akane Hasegawa, will have to play a huge role as she summons her very own Persona and later joins the fray! To make matters worse, they’re suspected of being accomplices to the Phantom Thieves. Will both groups be able to get out of this situation and solve this very long and huge mystery?

WORLDS COLLIDE: SD/P5: Mystery Inc. find themselves in a very serious and long mystery and the Phantom Thieves' plans for summer vacation takes an unexpected plot twist when two groups join forces, using their mystery-solving and phantom-thieving skills to crack cases involving a change of heart across the cities of Japan, learning more about the circumstances of the Change of Heart epidemic and the Metaverse-like Jails... Who is behind it all, and to what end? And can Mystery Inc. help their new Persona-user friends find the truth behind these strange incidents...or will they end up being arrested by the police as well? The ordeal of the Phantom Thieves and Mystery Inc. has just begun...

Alright here's a post for it uh

Zombie au

I'm. I usually hate these but I do like the Last of Us and. I can't control the brainrot

Anyways

It's been 11 years since the whole thing started and Joker and Futaba are surviving best they can. Two years before Joker was bit and was fine, word got around about a kid in their settlement being immune and then. One day a boy shows up at their little door

It's Morgana! He's like. 13. Human. Got a little bandana. He's been sent by a researcher named Igor to escort Joker to his research lab to help make a cure slash vaccine or whatever and long story short they set off

Then the rest is them running across different settlements along the way and gaining new friends and stuff. They have an armoured car! Just. Because I say so. The back is filled with blankets and pillows and stuff for sleeping, and theres a little cat keychain on the rearview mirror

Anyways so yeah lemme tell you about some of the settlements they uhm. Ruin.

Kamoshida Settlement!

This one runs on one idea: repopulation. Originally a private highschool grounds, being mostly students and staff, it's a tough place to be. There Joker, Futaba, and Morgana find Ryuji and Ann; not to get into the details too much, but neither would be living for long unless they got out

So they do. Uhm. By sparking a mini revolution, killing Kamoshida, and running away with their van in the chaos

Along the trip to the next stop Ryuji gets bit on the leg and they cut it off so. They suit him up with a crafty peg but Futaba wants to make him a leg out of spare parts she scavenges as they go

Next up is the Madarame cult Settlement!

Madarame claims he's immune and a higher being and promises his followers they can achieve the same under his teachings. Weekly he puts on a scene where he is "bitten", but it's Yusuke pretending to be infected. Yusuke is actually immune

But no one remembers it once he leaves with the group. So. It's always a relief when he gets exposed and remembers "wait I'm fine"

Next we got uh lemme check my notes- a double whammy ooh

Okumura Settlement

This one is the largest they've encountered. It's run by a group of men, including Okumura and Kaneshiro. So yeah Haru is here and so is Makoto. Haru has a nice little fruit and veggie garden she tends to and Makoto is apart of the security team

To cut this short, no one but the high ups know but they're cannibals. They tell the people it's like some other meat but they catch and cook survivors who wouldn't work in their system

When Makoto and Haru leave with the gang they take one of the security dogs, Johanna

Anyways. So everyone's all there! AND YES I KNOW I FORGOT AKECHI AND SUMIRE DONT YELL AT ME IM WORKING ON HOW TO WORK THEM IN

Ahem.

So eventually Morgana leads them to Igor's lab. However, Igor has been replaced by some maniac who wants to get rid of the immune so there's no chance of returning to normal and yadda yadda they take him down and wonder what to do next

They find Lavenza held up in the basement and she tells them everyone else got out and are living in a settlement called the Velvet Room, she made them come for her last so they wait until the person coming to take her comes and go with them

And since I'm a sap, once they reach the Velvet Room they find most of the people they haven't seen in 11 years. Sojiro, Sae, Ryuji's mom, Shiho-

I love this ship a little bit too much lmao. Know that this is an au where the events of Strikers JUST starts, where Akira gets in the Velvet Room again after half a year. He comes eye to eye with someone he believed to be gone forever.

Akira was happy that he finally got back together with his friends after 6 months, but he didn’t like it that the metaverse has become a problem once more. The Phantom Thieves were sure that the metaverse was erased when they defeated Yaldabaoth. There was something going on, but he didn’t know what.

“We should go to sleep, we are going to have a long day tomorrow. But wow, this place does bring back memories”, Akira’s cat, Morgana said.

For once in his life, Akira is happy that Morgana told him to go to sleep, there is too much going on in his life at this moment, he needed to sleep this through.

When Akira woke up, he found himself back into his prisoner attire, albeit without the shackles around his feet and wrists. So many questions are going on in his head right now.

‘Am I back in the Velvet Room? If so, where is Igor? Does he need my help again? And Caroline and Jus- no, it is Lavenza now isn’t it?’, he thought.

He remembered that he was forced to fuse the two together in their true being once more, to the person they were before they were forcibly split.

“Trickster, it has been a long while since the last time we have met. But there isn’t time to catch up, I have important matters to discuss with you”, a soft spoken voice said.

“Lavenza!”, Akira said, being happy to see another familiar face. At least he wasn’t alone in here.

Lavenza gave a soft smile.

“Another threat is going to cross your path, you have to be prepared for anything. I will be here if you need my help, albeit with my master this time. Though, I am not the only one that will help you”, Lavenza said.

“You mean that there is someone else here as well?”, Akira questioned, to which she could only nod to.

“Who is it?”, he asked. He didn’t see anyone, until Lavenza looked to her left.

“Hello there. Kurusu-san, wasn’t it? Lavenza told me a lot about the Trickster that saved the world”, an all too familiar voice said. There was absolutely no way…

“A-Akechi?…”, he mumbled. A boy appeared, wearing the Velvet Room attendant out.

“My apologies, but do the two of us know each other?”, Goro’s voice said. Akira didn’t notice that he was letting a tear fall down his cheeks.

He is alive! Goro Akechi is alive and well, he is right here! But…

“He was one of your teammates when you lost your memories. I was hoping that if you helped each other, you would regain them”, Lavenza said.

At this point, Akira is trying to hold his crying back all together. He wanted to hug him, and never let go. He wanted to tell him that everything is okay, and that he understood him. He wanted to tell him that he lo-

“Is that so? Well, I will be happy to work with you again, Akira-san. I hope that we can help each other in the near future”, Goro said.

However, Goro himself wasn’t all too sure about that. When he looked at Akira, this feeling of irritation and anger showed up. But at the same time, it gave him a warm and calm feeling as well, together with some sort of relief. He didn’t know what it was, and didn’t know what or why he had it.

“Y-yeah, I hope so as well”, Akira said as he wiped his tears that are now flowing out.

“It is time Trickster, there is a long day ahead for you”, Lavenza said to which Akira nodded.

Akira woke up, and didn’t hesitate to cry. The boy he had feelings for, the boy that sacrificed himself for the Phantom Thieves, is right there!

He felt a mix of happiness and sadness right now, he really thought that Goro was gone forever. But that isn’t the case.

“Akira? Why are you crying?”, the voice of Morgana said. Akira quickly wiped his tears away again. He didn’t want him to worry about him.

“Just had a nightmare, it’s nothing”, Akira said even though he knew that Morgana didn’t buy it. Morgana let it slide though.

Akira smiled to himself. Maybe, he can rebuild his relationship with Goro again, even if he wasn’t sure if he would betray him a second time.

It’s going to be worth it, all of it.

I got asked about this theory I got about Morgana being connected to Persona 3...

...so here we go. Heavy Persona 5 AND Persona 3 spoilers ahead. This is gonna be a long post too, btw.

So, let’s lay some groundwork first. We all know Morgana, the cognitive cat made by Lavenza and/or Igor themselves, yeah? All we know is that he was created by them. So...what was he made from? Did he just pop in out of thin air, or was some kind of material used in the process.

If you played P4A/P4AU (or if you played Persona 3 and paid a whole lot of attention to its lore), the Plumes of Dusk comes to mind. As a good chunk of us know, they were used to give Anti-Shadow Suppression Weapons such as Aigis and Labrys their respective personas, and by extension, personalities.

And after you finish a certain request in P3, Elizabeth gifts you a Plume, implying that she (and possibly other Velvet Room residents) may have more on hand. So it wouldn’t be too far of a stretch to imagine that Morgana was created from a Plume of Dusk, given that he still has his own personality and persona despite being a mere cat/cognitive being, right?

However, Plumes of Dusk are confirmed to be parts of Nyx that were shed upon her fusion with the moon, meaning that if Morgana was made from what’s essentially a part of Nyx, he also has some form of connection with her.

Here’s where my theory comes into place: Morgana is a reincarnated Ryoji Mochizuki.

You’re probably really confused now. And weirded out. You might be asking, “Misty, are you high right now?” No, I’m not, as I am not from Colorado. That aside, I do wholeheartedly believe this statement.

First off, let’s get into visual similarities.

Pretty simple things: They both have blue eyes, and a yellow scarf, along with the rest being a plain black and white color scheme with little exception. And while Soejima had designed Morgana the same way he did with other mascots by using the "toy" set of colors (red, blue, and yellow), you can't deny that these two have pretty similar vibes in terms of the use of color.

One thing in particular I want to point out, however, is their eyes.

(My apologies for the slightly low quality of the image on the right. It's...difficult to find high quality official artwork of someone who hasn't gotten major relevance since around 2006 or 2015.)

Their eyes have almost the exact same colors, with the exact same way they are colored—A dark blue with a lighter blue surrounding it.

(Interestingly, Morgana's false human form found in Persona 5 Royal does this the opposite way, switching the colors around.)

(This appears to indicate that what you see is not his true "human" form, and that is proven true. Food for thought.)

These visual similarities can easily be proven coincidence however, so take this all with a grain of salt.

Up next is details I gathered from Persona 5, mostly Morgana's social link.

One thing Morgana wouldn't let you forget throughout the game is that he is not a cat, but rather, a human being. He acts quite adamant about that statement and never lets it go, until the false reality he is given in Third Semester is shattered, forcing him to admit that he was a cat all along, and I won't deny that he is. My theory merely states that he was human in a past life.

It starts with rank 1 of Morgana's social link: He states that wandering throughout the Metaverse caused him to lose both his memories and his true form. But as of the end of the game, the concept of Morgana even having a supposed "true" form is thrown away, which I find kind of...wrong. Yes, his supposed memories of being human had come from witnessing those jailed in the Depths of Mementos, but what if they also came from fainter memories from a past life where he was indeed human for a time?

Another thing: Throughout the events of his social link, Morgana has nightmares about actually being a shadow, or being created from shadows. You can easily connect this to Ryoji. How so, you may ask? Ryoji's true form, the Arcana shadow of Death (which by design is Thanatos, so I should remind you of the fact that personas are essentially tamed shadows), is spoken of, and I am very much paraphrasing by going off of memory here, as the "shadow that was not meant to be."

Along with that, early on, Morgana wonders about the possibility of actually being a malevolent being, which can be connected to how Ryoji wound up being the Appriser of the Fall. That's merely more food for thought more than anything, though.

Some extra tidbits:

In Akihabara, if you interact with one of the claw machines in the arcade, Morgana states that he feels like he's seen it before, possibly referencing the claw machine you can play with in Paulownia Mall.

A Mementos line from Haru says that Morgana would be "exceedingly" popular with the girls at Shujin if he were to attend. Whether this is merely her being nice, pointing out the fact that everyone loves cats, or referencing how Ryoji was extremely popular and flirtatious around girls in Gekkoukan, who knows. Probably the former two if we're thinking realistically, but we're not, so I'm going with the latter.

An unused Mementos line (for Royal, not vanilla P5) has Ann stating, "Mona's surprisingly stylish. Especially that yellow scarf!" This may or may not reference how recognizable Ryoji is with his yellow scarf. Probably not, but I don't really care, lmao

In conclusion, Morgana and Ryoji are likely to have some sort of connection, if you believe the basis of Morgana's creation coming from a Plume of Dusk. Whether they are the same person reincarnated, or connected in some other way, is more up to you than anything. Feel free to add onto this or smack me in the face and call me wrong. Actually, don't smack me in the face and call me wrong. I'll cry.

Mini Fanfic #1161: Cats Out of the Bag (Persona 5 X Sonic)

1:43 p.m. at New Donk's Hotel & Suite: Futaba, Mona, Lavenza,Yusuke and now Omega's Room.......

'Door Opens'

Futuba: (Show Omega Hers and the Others' Room) And here we are!~Our luxurious stay for the next few days or so. Not as familiar and cozy looking as my old room obviously, but it still a nice place if I do say so myself

Yusuke: Agreed. (Grabs his Chin) Though, I do wish we would have more creative looking paint portraits sitting on thr walls, rather than having stock images.

Omega: (Walks into the Room and Starts Looking Around) .....It looks a lot more organized than I expected.

Lavenza: (Smiles Brightly at the Robot) You like it? Futuba-San has been doing a wonderful job keeping this place clean since the very first dat we came here.

Morgana: (Shrugs) How she's able keep it clean and not her own room will always be a mystery to me....

Futuba: (Glares at Morgana) Quiet, you! (Turns Away While Pouting and Crossing her Arms Together) In case you've forgotten, we are guests here. There's no way I could be as careless and messy was I back home.

Lavenza: (Smiles Sheepishly) That's admirable and all, but......

Morgana: Did you seriously admitted that you're a mess freak?

Futuba: Yes, I- (Eyes Suddenly Begins to Widened as She Quickly Turns to the Young Couple Behind Her) I-I am, NO, you brats! I ain't admitting jack!!

Yusuke: (Smiles Softly) It's quite alright, Futuba. I still love you regardless of how messy you are.

Futuba: (Immediately Turns to her Boyfriend While Blushing) Don't even go there, you sweetheart of an idiot! (Turns to Omega) Omega-kun, back me up here! (Calms Herself Down Once She Sees Omega Standing by the Windows) Omega?

Omega: (Looking Down at the Window) The residents of this city, almost resembles that as tiny insects in this upper distance.

Futuba: (Joins in on the Sightseeing) I know, right? They have a lot more folks than we ever had back in Shiyuba that's for sure.

Yusuke: (Joins in as Well) The view itself would always look breathtaking every time I come here. ('Sigh') Would've loved to create a rendition of this had I not forgotten to bring my art supplies with me....

Futuba: (Place her Hand onto Yusuke's Back) You'll have plenty time to make something next year, babe. Relax a little.

Omega: The more relaxation you receive could make your thinking process more clearer.

Yusuke: Yes, having a clearer mind is far more better than having far too many ideas filled up in there that's for certain. Perhaps a few more relaxation could benefit things..... (Suddenly Notices Something on his Left) I must say. Is that Ryuji and Haru-San over there?

Futuba: (Scooches Herself Over to Yusuke's Side) Where? (Watches Where Yusuke's Finger is Pointing At) Ah yeah, I see them. Sitting at a café, holding hands, and- (Eyes Widened Once More) HOOO MAMA, THEY'RE KISSING!

Omega: (Takes a Look as Well) And not a single Mistletoe detected.

Yusuke: (Struck in Awe at What He's Looking At Right Now) Such grace and passion....Their romantic though surprising....is still a sight to behold indeed.....Perhaps if I could recreate this potential masterpiece in some capacity-

Futuba: (Gently Swats her Boyfriend on the Shoulder) Hey. What did we say about relaxing, Inari.

Omega: (Glares at the Artist) Do not abandon your relaxation!

Yusuke: ('Sighs in Defeat') Right. Apologies.....

Morgana: (Joins in on the Sightseeing Along with Lavenza) Wait, who's kissing who now- (Starts Gasps Loudly at What He's Looking At Right Now)

Lavenza: (Clasps her Hands Together Happily) Oh my goodness!~ I had no idea Ryuji and Haru-San were dating this entire time, let alone look so cute together~ (Turns to her Boyfriend) Is this wonderful, Mona-Chan?~

Morgana has both his eyes and mouth widened in complete shock and silence.

Lavenza: (Frowns in Worry) Mona-Chan-

Morgana: WHAT ARE YOU DOING, RYUJI SAKMOTO!? (Place Both his Hands and his Face onto the Glass of the Window) GET THE HELL OFF OF MY MOTHERRR-

Meanwhile In the Streets of New Donk City

Ryuji: (Shares a Romantic Kiss with Haru in the Sidewalks Before Pulling Away For a Brief Second and Chuckles Lightly) Geez, Haru~ I know ya love me and all, but can't you wait until we get to a Mistletoe to start kissing me like that?~

Haru: (Giggles Softly) I'm sorry!~ You're too cute and loveable for me resist properly.

Ryuj: Loveable, huh? Don't think I ever had a girl call me that before.

Haru: Well, it's true, isn't it? You're a real treasure, Ryuji-san~

Ryuji: (Smiles Brightly) So are you. In beautiful sense, of course~ (Winks at his Girlfriend)

Haru: (Giggles Some More) Okay, it clearly seems that our fifteen seconds break is up for now. (Places her Hand onto Ryuji's Cheek Before Leaning Closer in a Seductive Manner) Come to mama~

Ryuji: (Smirks Back) Yes, ma'am~ (Resumes Back to his Make-Out Session with his Girlfriend)

Back at the Hotel Room

Morgana: That's it! (Moves Away From the Window and Makes his Way to the Door)

Futuba: (Sighs as She Turns to see Mona Storming Off) Mona, where are you going?

Morgana: Going for a walk in the city. Have a talk with a potential deadman if he even thinks about hurting her!

Omega: There are over a thousand civilians currently present in the streets. You could easily get yourself lost in your tiny state.

Morgana: A risk I'm willing take! I'm not gonna waste my time standing here without taking some actio- Wait, why am I not movi-iiing!? (Eyes Widened as He Looks Down to See That He's Levitating in Mid-Air In a Blue Colored Aura) What the heck!?

Lavenza: (Uses her Magic Abilities to Levitate her Boyfriend with One Hand, All While Giving him a Stern Glare in the Process) Morgana, I forbid you from stepping out if that door.

Morgana: But-

Lavenza: Nono. I do not want any ifs, ands, or buts coming out of that mouth of yours, mister. Your anger and stubborness are clearly clouding your sense of reasoning right now, are they not?

Morgana: Come on, I'm not that angr-

Lavenza: (Raises an Eyebrow in Silence)

Morgana: ('Sighs in Defeat') They are.......

Lavenza: (Simply Nodded) That's more like. Now, when lower you back on your feet, I want you to CALMLY tell us why this is making you upset. Understand?

Morgana: (Nodded in Agreement as He Slowly Gets Lowered Back Down on his Feet) Yes, ma'am.....

Futuba: (Giggles Softly) Will would you look at that?~ Little Kitty Bro here finally got himself wh-

Lavenza glares at Futuba in silence.

Futuba: N-Nevermind.

Morgana: (Takes a Deep Breath Before Speaking) Look, it's not like I'm completely against the idea of mom with dating anyone, let alone Ryuji, I just.....('Sigh') Can't stop thinking about that jerk she was forced to marry in the past......

Yusuke: (Simply Nodded) Understandable. His actions alone are more than enough to make anyone's skin crawl. But even then, we've known Ryuji far enough to know that he is far superior man than he wishes he could ever be.

Mona took the time to let what Yusuke said sink in. Despite their constant bickering and differences they have for one another in the past, even he knows that him to that scumbag Sugimura, is an incredible insult in it of itself.

Morgana: Yeah. You're absolutely right, he is a great man. Truly (Sighs While Facepalming Himself) Sorry, I didn't mean to act all hostile like that. Haru means a lot to me and I.....guess i just didn't wanna see her get hurt again in any way, you know?

Futuba: (Gives Mona a Reassuring Smile on her Face) Hey, I feel ya. We all have our protective moments we gotta work on from time-to-time. Just try and Ryuji a chance on this, yeah? He may not be the brightest in the world, but he's still a really great guy all around.

Morgana: (Takes a Deep Breath Again Before Speaking) It's gonna take a while for me to get used to it completely, that's for sure. (Forms a Small, Sincere Smile on his Face) But I'm more than willing to give it a go. For mom and Ryuji's sake.

Lavenza: (Happily Hugs her Boyfriend Next to Her) I believe that's very mature of you, dear~

Morgana: (Starts Blushing) I-I wouldn't really say I'm the most mature of bunch-

Futuba: ('Heh') Yeah. (Smugly Pushes the Side of her Hair Up a Bit) That honor goes to me obviously~

Lavenza: (Giggles Softly)

Morgana: (Rolls his Eye) Uh-huh. Sure you are.

Futuba: (Immediately Recognizes that Voice) Yo, Rouge, Knuckles!~ Long time, no- (Slowly Widens her Eyes at What'sNow in Front of Her) seeeee?

The rest of the gang turns to see the couple standing in the doorway. The former holding onto her shopping bags with bright smile on her face whereas the latter is covered with multiple kiss marks and a very annoyed look written all over his face.

Knuckles: 'Sup.

Futuba: (Tries her Hardest Not to Laugh Out Loud)

Omega: (Already Has a Deadpinned Look on his Face) Do I even want to know what had during your shopping spree trip

Rouge: (Playfully Fiail her Hand Down) Oh it's nothing for you to worry your little metal head about, dear~ Knuckie and I just stumbled upon a few Mistletoes along the is all~

Knuckles: Yeah. TWELVE of them to be exact. (Points at his Girlfriend Besde Him) And this bat woman has been kissing me THIRTY-ONE TIMES already! I counted on the way getting here.

Rouge: Here's to one more~ (Points Knuckles to Yet Another Mistletoe Hanging Above Them)

Knuckles: (Eyes Widened in Frustration) Ah come the hell on! Seriously!? (Turns Back to the Group) Who put that up there!?

Everyone turns to Futuba as the Culprit.

Futuba: (Smiles Sheepishly While Shrugging) I-I dunno. I just thought our room could use a little Christmas spirit, you know?

Knuckles: With ONLY a Mistletoe!?

Futuba: It's the only declaration we're allowed to use!

Rouge: It's more than enough, dear. (Moves Knuckles' Head Face to Face Towards Hers as She's Already Smirking Seductively) Now, come, Knuckie~ Let's continue this lovely tradition once mor-

Before Riyge could finish her sentence, Knuckles pulls her close to him as he gives her the most twelve second long passionate kiss of the lifetime, powerful enough to leave the flirtatious bat speechless.

Knuckles: (Starts Panting a Little) There......Our Thirteenth Mistletoe encounter and Thirty-Second kiss, obtained! Now, it's time to find our room. (Gives Rouge One More Kiss on the Cheek Before Storming Off, Grumbling) I swear, I better not see another Mistletoe around here or I'm punching something.....

Rough's knees starts to shake as let's her bags drop on the floor, then dropping herself on her knees, still completely speechless at what had just happened earlier.

Omega: ('Sigh') I am too highly advanced for this tomfoolery today....(Walks Over to Rouge) I will take Rouge to her destinated room. And make sure Knuckles doesn't get himself too lost in the process.

Lavenza: (Eagerly Raises her Hand) Ooh, can I help, Omega-kun? I've memorized every room number on each floor.

Omega: (Simply Nodded) Go right ahead. (Picks Rouge and the Bags Up in his Arms Before Walking Out) The more assistance, the better the process.

Lavenza: (Smiles Brightly While Clasping her Hands Together) Spendid!~

Morgana: (Walks His Girlfriend to the Doorway) Need any help along the way?

Lavenza: No need. I'm sure we'll have everything done before you know it. Hopefully. But before I leave.....(Gently Grabs Hold of Morgana's Cheeks) For your maturity today.

Lavenza gives Morgana a gently yet loving kiss on the lips under the Mistletoe, leaving him speechless as well.

Lavenza: I love you, Morgana. Always. (Gives Mona Another Kiss on the Forehead Before Running Out the Door) Omega-kun, wait for me!

Morgana's knees starts shaking before inevitably dropping down on his knees.

Yusuke: (Watches Mona on his Knees Speechless Under a Mistletoe) Hm. Odd. (Turns to Futuba) Has the Mistletoe always have this strong effect on those who kissed under it.

Futuba: (Brings Yusuke Closer to the Mistletoe with Her) Only one way to find out. (Place Both her Hands onto Yusuke's Cheeks) Pucker those lips, boy!

The artist and geek shares a quick, passionate kiss under the Mistletoe before pulling away.

Yusuke: Hm. I don't feel the sensation of having my knees shaking. (Turns to His Girlfriend) How about you?

Futuba: (Shaking in her Knees While Being Flustered Bright Red and the Lens of her Glasses Has Already Fogged Up) F-F-Feel....K-K-Kiss.....I-i-Inariiiiii~ (Starts Falling Down Before Yusuke Was Able to Catch her in his Arms)

Yusuke: (Grabs his Chin) You know, I should really consider getting another sketchbook for Christmas this year.
