Day Nineteen: Forever Is A Long Time

Good god this one gave me trouble!

Messed up on the lineart, hence why there are extra thick outlines around the Crows, and I colored Young Crow last night and had NO IDEA the colored Pencil looked that bad so I erased it the best I could.

I like how it turned out enough though, I missed Scarecrow era Scarecrow, the babey! 💖

The text doesn’t specify. It just says her hair is long and messy/tangled and there’s pencils in it.

The TPP front cover she’s got reddish hair (an online color picker called it “rust brown”). TPP interior illustration is black and white but considering it’s the same artists for the cover and inside illustrations, I’m willing to bet the light shading is supposed to indicate that reddish color

16. favorite media to work with when drawing traditionally

Mechanical pencil babey!! maybe a boring answer but it's what I always have to hand & I've filled my sketchbook with & in general I find easiest to capture the vibes of something in a fun way without having to get too complex. otherwise if I'm in the right mood I quite like gouache

21. something you would like to improve on

I'd really like to get better at color and light -- not so much because I'd like to be realistic or anything but I feel like even really simple drawings are better when you have a real understanding of the light and color bc you can convey strong moods simply if that makes sense. at the moment I don't really ~understand~ them, I just tend to muddle through, so I'd say it's a weak point of mine probably

23. what’s something you hope people notice when looking at your art

The absurd little details I put on things! tbh I don't expect anyone to because they're not always very apparent but I'm always resisting the urge to footnote my drawings to show the specific archaeological arifacts or art of historical clothing or something I've referenced or point out where I've really thought things through

for example w tolkien (though I wouldn't expect anyone to notice) whenever I draw legolas carrying the bow on his back I always make sure to draw it unstrung & with a little pouch for his bowstring around his waist :}, or else when I've drawn classics things I like to build in a million historical art motifs to add to the symbolism & archaeological evidence & such -- clasped hands for marriage, toying with gendered skin tones, acanthus for birth/death, roman customs, etc, although I think this largely gets lost agjfshjds
