Popcorn, cucumber slices, & night light

Popcorn. A film that inspired the life you wanted to lead: I grew up on alot of Veggie tales and older movies and TV shows + older Disney movies. There isn't a specific one but generally the stuff I watched made me want to be a kind person. One movie that stands out is Zootopia tho. I know it's a "newer" movie and I was older when It came out but even at that age I saw the representation of how some people treat others in that movie. And it affirmed more than ever that I want to be kind and friendly to whoever I meet and treat them in a respectful and genuine manner.

Cucumber slices. A beauty secret: Hmm well I have a few, washing your face with cold water, double cleansing with a water and oil based cleanser. But here is a product that I think does wonders. I for one have oily skin so I can't speak for dryer skin types but this one helps to clear up acne or at least reduce them a lil bit.

Night light. What is on your nightstand: welp I don't have a nightstand so um.... I can tell you what is on my bed. Exactly 54 books and many other things (pleasedontjudgemeihaveabunkbedstillandtheysitonmyledge)

I am trying so hard to learn how to recreate junji ito's style, and I literally think that the line work is so detailed that my poor little crippled wrists are not up to the task

But! I think I have figured out a way to work around that using pre-made cross-hatching brushes in clip studio! Which means hopefully I can focus on getting down the major shapes of his illustrations, and then i can learn how to fill in the ludicrous amount of tiny tiny little lines digitally!

and THEN I am going to draw characters from the video game Don't Starve Together in that style! And vice versa. I would love to draw a cute little chibi of Tomie 😈☠🙀

I think I can do something with that #oh my poor little wrists #I would never care so much about cross-hatching usually but it really does seem to make his work way more upsetting? #and that is the skill set we are here to build after all. I really like horror art. and it's important to my graphic novel #I think maybe the combination of hyper realistic meticulously shaded details with increasingly distorted and unnatural anatomy #maybe the reason his stuff makes my fucking skin crawl. more testing is needed. this basically happens every time I engage with his work #we'll see how far this particular wave of hyperfocus gets me #all I want is to be a master of Horror and also to draw the scariest version of Maxwell from don't starve that anyone's ever drawn #is that so much to ask? #scary boi jail is where all the scary art references I find live. it is 90% junji ito #in case it wasn't clear the twisted flesh is not my own admittedly janky joints it is a hallmark of this horror style i want to emulate #if I can recreate a style then I can incorporate the parts I like best into my own style.

a deeply annoying but necessary part of my life is needing to stop taking/using a medication or product to know if it's one, doing anything at all, and if it is, what exactly is it doing and to what extent

i've never intentionally done this with my psych meds or asthma meds, but it's happened when for whatever reason, i didn't have access to them for an extended period of time. so the method of finding out really sucked, but i Am glad that it gave me an opportunity to truly see what my meds do for me, be able to actually measure the efficacy of their intended use and the extent of side effects. now i know exactly what my symptoms are, what the side effects are, and be able to make an active choice to tolerate the side effects bc the benefits far outweigh them

i have intentionally done this with skin care products and foods/supplements, which does also suck as an experience bc i have very particular routines in order to manage stuff like acne and ibs, but it's doesn't actually threaten my health, so it's worth finding out

#personal #one skin care product i actually genuinely need is the dark angels face scrub from lush #(i'm sure any similar charcoal based scrub would do the same i just happen to like the one from lush) #i get fairly moderate acne so like it's not so bad i need prescription level treatments #but if i don't have very strict routine my skin will immediately breakout and it is very painful #i have combination skin where it is generally oily but is very sensitive #and most chemical exfoliants will irritate to the point that it gets painfully dry and is peeling #so i find mechanical exfoliation to be a great way to wash out all the dirt and oil from my skin without overly irritating it #and then i use products with low levels of salicylic acid to help fight the acne #anyway this is all to say that i just did a test of not taking the psyllium supplements i recently added to my routine #and i can confidently report that it does in fact help me a lot #(​i am typing this from the bathroom with a tummy ache :/ )

I have absolutely torn apart the skin on my hands and every time I put anything on them to help I end up having to wash my hands for some reason like almost immediately

It was fun, and it made me appreciate bringing a bit more ruggedness to my characters who were previously mostly smooth and young looking as well as getting me excited about curbing same face syndrome)

#we had to make like. political posters explaining different facets of the us government #i did the art of the poster so i did a bunch of slightly stylized portraits of politicians because i didn't trust myself to do realism #i genuinely think that assignment changed how i thought about art #it made me appreciate drawing wrinkles and baldness and just various other things that aren't considered aesthetically appealing #shifted me pretty strongly out of the anime brained tweenager mindset #i started drawing a lot more old people and skin conditions and baldness #it really helped me break away from anything resembling same face syndrome because drawing a bunch of real people really reminds you how #many options there really are #there are so many options infinite combinations why the fuck would i wanna draw the same anime face a million times #when there are really truly unlimited options #and a part of me is kinda embarrassed that it was political art for a school assignment that helped me most with this #but it's also funny to me #but yeah #being a middle schooler who pretty much exclusively draws anime and cartoons suddenly discovering the joys of portraiture is so beautiful #q #i know queue tagging posts is mostly for the sake of reblogs #but whatever this post is in my queue if you even care
