location: melbourne 📍

yourusername: so it’s the australian grand prix and i’ve spent the start of the week exploring this old city. one of my stops was the historic old melbourne gaol. this now museum was once a prison that housed some of the most feared criminals in australian history. constructed in 1839, the old melbourne gaol saw 133 hanged for their crimes between 1845 and 1924. it was briefly used during world war two but ceased operation as a prison in 1924 and was renovated to be part of the RMIT university and the museum it is today. a definite must if you’re visiting melbourne !!

yourusername: though miami may be known for it's partying (it's all about the U), charles and i took our monday to take a stroll around st bernard de clairvaux church, one of miami's hidden gems. the church was originally built in spain all the way back in 1141 to the style of cistercian romanesque architecture for alfonso vii. the monastry's cloister was illegally purchased by american william randolph hearst in 1926 and in order for the church to be transported it was dismantled to 11,000 pieces and sent to the us where it was rebuilt and still stands to this day.

Could you do fic for James Vowles with wife reader? With her being in the Williams garage, she witnessed Alex and Danny incident at the Japan GP and was so worried about them that she ended up going to James at the pitwall for his comfort. “Come on Logan, show ‘em why you deserved to be in the car last weekend.” 

Logan nodded as he pulled his helmet on and gave a thumbs up and a fist bump to Y/N. It was her first weekend at the grand prix, as she preferred to stay at home, and let James call her to give her an update. But James had been pleading with her to come ‘just once’ and after the disaster weekend they’d had in Australia, she had braved the timezone and flown out for Japan.

She sat down on the folding chairs with the rest of the pit crew, while PR managers and assistants and anyone who liked James, which was 90% of the garage, was trying to persuade her to sit on a more comfortable chair. She shook her head smiling, insisting she was fine as long as she wasn’t in the way, on the folding chair, with the pit crew. 

James shook his head fondly, gazing at his wife as she chatted to Alex’s race engineer, before he slung his headset on and walked out to the pit wall.

Unfortunately the joy in the Williams garage lasted all of about 1 corner. A cheer erupted as they all got through turn 1 okay, but it was yelled too soon.

“As they make their way through AND OFF INTO THE WALL, off into the wall goes the 2 cars, and a big crash into the tire barrier,”

“Yeah, that’s going to be an immediate safety car, a heavy impact for Ricciardo and Albon…”

“Red flag, red flag.”

Y/N could see the anger as the mechanics grew angry, yelling stuff, but it all felt muffled underwater, as the camera cut to a replay of the crash. She sat there, staring as she watched Daniel and Alex’s cars clobber the barriers again.

So much for good luck this weekend. She watched as Daniel hopped out of the car, and she saw that Alex was having a little trouble due to the tyres almost balanced perfectly on his halo.

She heard the other cars filtering into the pits and as the pit crews dash around the cars Y/N escape through the garage and up to the pit wall, where she spotted James chatting to some of the other mechanics. She quickly crossed the pit lane and hopped up to the pitwall.

“Hey darling, what are you doing here?”

Y/N didn’t know what to say to that. What was she doing here? She looked at her husband trying to convey all of her current thoughts through her eyes. Thankfully he seemed to get the message and embraced her in a hug.

“Don’t worry, don’t worry, they’re both fine, they’re both okay. The red flag is because the barrier is destroyed and they’ll be here before the end of the red flag, okay? I’m sorry darling, that must have been terrifying to see that crash, especially when you have no information. How about you stay here, I think Alex and Daniel will come from there,” he pointed somewhere, Y/N wasn’t paying attention properly “so they’ll walk past here and you can see that they’re completely safe and sound.”

Y/N nodded at that, and snuggled in further to her husband’s embrace as he asked about tyres for Logan’s restart and discussed new strategy, keeping an eye out for the 2 drivers.

come walking down the pit lane. She careful extracted herself from James’ embrace, he nodded as he saw the 2 drivers arriving.

Y/N ran over and embraced them both in a hug, ignoring the commentators comments of ‘mom’ and ‘awwww’ and she pulled them in close and started rambling

“Oh my god, are you okay, that was a big crash, are you sure you don’t need to go to the medical centre, wait, hang on, what’s the test, uuhhhh, how many fingers am i holding up?”

“2, Y/N, relax, we’re okay.” Daniel put a hand on her shoulder

“Y/N breathe okay, I know that was a big crash and that I think was your first big crash while being here, so I’d imagine it's a little scary, but it’s okay. We’re both okay, Daniel and I in one piece.” Alex pulled her into a hug, before releasing her.

Y/N didn’t trust her voice, just nodding and furiously wiping away at the tears falling down her face.

“C’mon, I’ll get you back to James and then by the time the red flag is over, I’ll be back from media and we can watch the race together, okay?”

Y/N nodded again, smiling more than she was as Alex led her back to James.

“Keep her safe until I get back, yeah boss?”

“Oh come on Alex, you don’t trust me with my own wife?”

two and a half months into liking f1, here are my favorites:

1. Alex Albon

I think this is obvious. I just love Alex too much. Sadly this weekend wasn't great for Williams and it stressed me so much that Valtteri was on a mission to snatch P11 from my boy, but Albono's defending is so good, still sadly no points😭😭

2. Sergio Perez

This was a very hard decision, but I thought it's true for me right now and I can still change it back later so now Checo is on second for now.

I'm so obsessed with this man, I even wrote a Chestappen fic. It rarely happens that I'm so inspired that I actually put my ideas on paper.

FP1 made me want to cry and the German commentator couldn't stop hating (it wasn't really hating, just stating facts with a negative untertone, but it annoyed me) and I'm really starting to dislike Ralf Schumacher, he's always acting like he's so much better than every other driver lol (easy to say those things when you're not driving anymore, yes I'm looking at both of you, Ralf and Nico). But honestly I'm exaggerating, they're not that bad.

Also all the memes about Checo's crash. I was desperatly looking for posts that empathize with him and only found memes😭

(if I wasn't this deep, I would find them funny lol)

The race today was great tho. I would've loved to see him get P2 and I believe it would've been possibly, but I don't know anything so whatever. And I'm super happy for Lando and podium is podium. And driver of the day is well deserved. Checo knows how to gain positions. Now he just needs to start performing in Quali again :D

3. Charles Leclerc

Not the best weekend for Ferrari. The race today was a mess for them. Charles' first pit stop made me want to cry. It did seem like the team was trying to fuck Charles specificly over, with the water problem and that pit stop. I just want to see Ferrari back in the front.😭

Honerable mentions:

Nyck and Daniel. I just have to talk about that. I can't really be happy for Daniel. I really started to like Nyck and I think there is a reason he got into F1 in the first place. He's a good driver and I really believe that he just needed more time. I understand that the team felt like they needed to do something, but to Nyck it's unfair. I just hope he gets over the pain quickly.

And Danny deserves better than Alpha Tauri. Like what is he supposed to prove in that shit box. Also I am so obsessed with Checo that I'm still so scared that they might drop him if Danny does really good and I keep thinking what would that mean for Yuki? etc

Now after the weekend, I still don't know how to feel about the whole situation and I actually started avoiding Danny content, which is stupid and sad. Danny deserves a seat and it's not his fault that the circumstances suck.

the Haas boys. Never thought I would say that, but I kinda dig their dynamic.

George. I've been thinking about George a lot lately and I really like him, but somehow he is super weird to me. Idek what exactly, somehow everything about him is weird, but lovable. From his stupid big eyes and his ridiculously long legs, to his strange laugh and his accent. I really don't know anything about the differences in british accents but his accent is the weirdest to me. I like it and I understand it perfectly, but it's just weird (I'm sorry, I'm not trying to offend anyone😭)

Also his PR stuff is so cringy. I love how he's just embracing it all, but it sometimes feels like he is an old man, who doesn't understand the internet but loves learning about it😭

And his race was impressive af. He really knows how to drive.

Fun fact: my brother thinks he should be Mercedes' first driver.

Lance. I've grown extremely fond of him. He's just a sweetheart and getting dangerously close to my top three. I might have to take him into consideration soon.

He's a cat. I love cats.

Initially I disliked him for the dumbest reason (being a rich kid), but even then I knew (or I was expecting) that the day would come that I start liking him and here we are. He's the kind of person I would want to be friends with.

Logan. Through Alex I've become somewhat of a Williams fan. And I really like it when Logan has a good day. The FPs were great for him. The race sucked tho (whatever happened there), but he didn't seem too mad about it.

Lewis. I couldn't believe my eyes when he took pole. I was so happy, but then the race start was so bad😭😭

And I feel incredibly bad that I didn't want him to get P3😭

He was just so close to Checo in the last few laps and I really wanted Checo on the podium. Please don't get me wrong, I would have loved to see Lewis on the podium. I would've loved to see him win, but with Max, Lando and Checo in front, I just couldn't cheer for him😭😭😭😭

Lando. I love this man and I just want him to finally get a win. But it seems like he takes P2 as some kind of win, knowing that Max is just unbeatable.

Max. His hair.

Also I just need to say how much I love it when Max speaks German. The Dutch accent when speaking German is like the cutest thing ever and I'm really impressed of how confident he is in the language.

And there's my internal Red Bull dilemma. I drink a Red Bull for every Quali and for every race. I don't want Red Bull and Max to keep dominating, but I want Checo in front and Max deserves to win because he is that good. Do I support Checo or the Red Bull domination by drinking too much Red Bull?😭😭😭

Either way, I love Red Bull and I will keep on drinking it lol. Also I might be a RB fan at heart. Still Ferrari all the way, but I came into F1 being a RB fan, because of rallye sport and almost every driver I like there, is driving for RB. And then there's what they did to Alex and Pierre and now Nyck.

It's a love-hate relationship.

Valtteri. I don't think I ever said anything about him here. I love this man! He is such a vibe. Just doing whatever the fuck he wants and slaying every second of his life. He's not at the top of my favorites, but generally speaking, he might be one of the coolest drivers on the grid.

In terms of race positions, I like to see him doing good, but I like to see my favs in front more. Alex > Valtteri, I had to cheer for Alex there.

Zhou. I'm positively neutral about Zhou,  I don't know much about him, but from what I've seen so far there's not much to dislike. But here I just wanted to say that I loved seeing him slay Quali. Alfa Romeo in general. It's good to see them in better positions every now and then. The start today was just unfortunate.

Carlos. I was surprised by how Ferrari was treating Carlos today. It seemed like the team was actually listening to him. I hope they sorted themselves out and they keep being nice to my man Carlito😭

But the German commentators kept saying that Carlos Sr. is already looking around for a seat in a different team for his son😭

I love him in Ferrari, but I would totally understand if he wanted to leave. But I also saw something about the possibility of him joining Audi and I gotta say, as much as I love Ferrari Carlos, seeing him in an Audi would be so cool! Might be because Carlos Sr. is driving for Audi, but that doesn't matter. It'd just be cool.

Pierre. I'm starting to find my love for Pierre again. It's not nearly as strong as it used to be (obviously, as he's not first anymore lol) For some reason I didn't really care about him for a few weeks, but it's coming back now. Also bad day for Alpine. Must be devastating, a DNF for both cars and it not even being their fault. I hope they're okay and don't kill Zhou.

Esteban. I'm starting to dig the whole Alpine dynamic. They might not be the best of friends but they make it work and I love that.

And still, I'm obsessed with Este's accent and I keep coming back to the squirrel clip. I just can't with him.

Also he gives me young Jeff Goldblum vibes, idk why, but I love it.

Might be the hair. Or the sunglasses.

Oscar. It's frustrating to watch Oscar almost get on the podium. He deserves a podium, he's an incredible driver and I'm happy that the car is finally good enough for him and Lando.

Yuki. Now that I named 18 drivers, I can just say some things to the last two as well. Yuki is such a cool person. I wish he was higher on my list (the honerable mentions are in no particular order). And like I said before, I'm a little scared of what Danny's performance means for him.

Fernando. I like him a lot. I like his laugh and his accent. He's serious but silly and he treats Lance well. I like to believe that he has no evil master plan and just actually likes Lance lol

Sometimes it seems that Aston is the only team that works together and just like Lance said, it's romantic.

Also Strollonso might actually be my favorite ship currently. They're so unlikely, but they just work and it's cute. Thay might not be a Lestappen or a Carlando, but they have my heart just as much and I need more content.

Wow, I didn't know I had so much to say. And I hadn't realized that I just named most of the grid until I counted them.

Why I wrote it: This is my coda for the Hawaii Five 0 finale and all @cowandcalf’s fault. My muse agreed with all her points in this meta she wrote and… stuff happened. Also, I was obsessing thinking in a very normal fashion about how the ohana deserved better, too.

Why you should read it: I did my best to explain the ending, various plot holes the size of an spider crab, and a few other things that have bugged fans over the years. There’s also Steve!whump, some badass!Danny, and a generous sprinkling of ohana. Most importantly, the boys talk about diving, and get their happy ever after.

Thank you for following my Doctor Who reblogs :’D I’m not THAT deep into the lore of DW and I’ve only watched as far back as the Ninth Doctor, so I don’t get every reference but I still enjoy the show for the entertainment value. 

Favorite character: It’s a tie between the Ninth Doctor (played by Christopher Eccleston) and recently the Fifteenth Doctor (played by Ncuti Gatwa)

Least Favorite character: I can’t remember if there’s a character I outright LOATHE… but from what I remember, I always found the The Trickster to be a great, cruel villain. While I’m not sure if he appears in the main series of Doctor Who, he appeared in The Sarah Jane Adventures spinoff. The Trickster’s whole deal was… making deals with desperate people. Such as switching the fates of a young Sarah Jane and her deceased best friend. Or making a deal with a dead man to marry a brainwashed Sarah Jane. I felt very sorry for the people he tricked. So, great villain but I didn’t like him!

An unpopular opinion: As much as I adore David Tennant, the Tenth Doctor is kind of a jerk and his storylines got far too serious and grandiose

My canon OTP: Uh… Clara/Danny. Their story made me emotional… Also, I haven’t watched all of the Thirteenth Doctor’s run but Thirteen/Yasmin looks cute. I hope they became canon? We invented a whole other Tenth Doctor clone so that Rose/Ten could be a thing in some form. SURELY Yasmin gets her own Thirteenth Doctor clone?

I know!!! I bet Daniel would do better than Checo is rn because he had the time off to get his head/mental right, he thrives at the front, and he really loves the RB team. I would love to see Daniel finish his career in a Red Bull. I think both he and RB deserve that. I think Max deserves that. Daniel leaving I always feel like left a mark on everyone involved and I want them all to heal. I want the story to end happily.

I think if Checo wants to stay in F1 he should go back to the midfield where he was doing well and once a year he’d do something mega and he remembered. AM would give him a good couple more years to do that and when Honda become the supplier they bring Yuki to replace him. For me that’s the ideal.

Liam is definitely getting into the AT in 2025 if not sooner, I don’t think AM would take him for a year. They could bring Drugovich in I guess, if his flirting with Williams doesn’t work out.

bestie you are asking the wrong person 😭 we're all speculating here, esp cause there were rumours of a handshake deal between piastri and zak brown (I hope legal experts here can clarify how binding that is) BUT... every top team is locked for 2023 and alpine and mclaren are the only two on the similar range constructors' points wise (even tho danny ric is contracted for 2023)

afaik, only seats that haven't been confirmed for 2023 are in AT, Williams, and Haas? and whatever Lance Stroll's deal is which is like a text from dad if he's free that weekend. and those teams are far worse than alpine and mclaren, so I don't see why piastri would be fucking his relationship with alpine if he didn't have a better seat/deal.

I'm loving the drama tho, it's what we deserve. not a fan of danny ric's potentially shaky future but he's got fat stacks of $$$ to rest on if Zak breaks contract and kicks him for 2023 💸

Suzuka unserious race overview by me

Well hello it's me again. I kinda didn't want to do this today but I promised myself to do it every race so I don't forget about the races and how they made me feel so let's get going under the cut.

1. Red Bull

So so nice to see Max back at the top again. I don't see the haters cheering this time. You can have ONE (1) race to cheer and Max will be back at it stronger than ever after. Who's laughing now? I was really pissed off last time ok?

Perez is also back in his usual form which was kinda nice to see. My beef with him is now over and he can stay.

2. Ferrari

Every race I come here wondering if I'm gonna have another bad thing to say about Ferrari and every race I'm dissapointed. Remember how I said team orders were a good call last race? Well this race it was the wrong decision to make. The way they told Charles was condescending and he was not in fact fighting Norris. They should have held position and everything would have been the same. But noo for some reason Ferrari has to make everything about the driver who is leaving in a year. Garbage team with garbage priorities.

Carlos again drove a very mid race. I cant believe someone voted for him for dotd like what does he even do at this point.

Charles on the other hand? Incredible amazing extraordinary showstopping a fucking masterclass drive by him. He deserved the podium. He deserves everything in the world if you ask me. But I am so proud of my boy and I can't wait until he figures out quali and crashed everyone. Soon. Soon Soon.

3. McLaren

I was shitting on Lando right after the race a lot because he didn't manage to defend against Carlos but thinking about it now... Lando did nothing wrong (aside from lock up 🙄). McLarens strategies sucked so bad It was actually embarrassing. For both drivers. On top of a bad strategy Oscar had a bad race on his part as well. That Tyre degradation compared to his teammate is worrying. He can work on it but it's something he really really needs to figure out and soon. On pace Lando was good and he could've beaten Carlos if McLaren were just a little more capable as a team.

4. Mercedes

What the actual fuck is wrong with Mercedes? How are they so slow? Lewis is barely racing he's just vibing at this point. Poor George is trying but nothing is working evidently. Just.. embarrassing. And then you have Toto yapping about Max left and right? Bffr sir you will be struggling to find a driver at this point yet alone Max. Maybe one of the Alpines will want to switch it up for a faster slow car. Try there.

5. Aston Martin

Stroll and Lance are racing in different categories. Idk what Stroll is doing but it's not it. One race he's decent the next he fumbles it hard. It goes back and forth. Fernando may be a pain in the ass but he's consistent and a good driver. Nothing to add. Stroll do better.

6. RB

YUKI POINT!!!!!!!!!! AT HIS HOME RACE!!!!!! THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER!!!!! I'm so so happy for him, he's been doing an exceptional job. 👏

Danny..... I read the report and it sounds like he (and Alex) got unlucky. But that seat is slipping away real real fast if you ask me.

7. Haas

Another decent race for Haas. They couldn't do more than that tho, they never would have. There was not enough DNFs in the top spots. Unfortunately it has come to this. If the lower teams want some points they need to fight for the 1 spot left out by Strolls incompetence. The field is so devided this is our reality. Unfortunately. Still a positive race for them. Still rooting for them so much.

8. Sauber

They raced? Honestly I don't remember. I saw Bottas pass Sargeant but that's about it. Ohhhhh Zhou DNFed. I hope it doesn't happen next race. Other than that 🤷‍♀️

9. Alpine

Not alpine touching 2 minutes into the race. They were so slow even Sargeant passed them twice. Ocon and Gasly need to find themselves better seats next year. Where are Travis Kelces money I wonder? It's just sad.

10. Williams

No words. Just no words. Another chasis ruined. They will not have a single car for Miami with this pace. Not Albons fault this time but still kinda is. You were saying 3 days ago that you need to be more careful so why tf were you not more careful? I get it wasn't his fault but like... less risky moves maybe? You're fighting for 15th ffs.

Mick is not a good driver, he doesn’t really deserve that Williams seat. Same with Danny bc it’s a shame he is getting a second chance after being shit at Mclaren while Liam could do so much better

Mick and Daniel are both very good driver otherwise they would never even got a shot in F1, but i agree that they had their chance. Normally, I'm all in for a second chance, but in F1 there are just 20 seats, so it always a bit bitter when someone gets a second chance before a f2 driver for example get their first shot. But that's how f1 works.

You get the BEST celebration this year: HAPPY SATURNALIA! What could possibly go wrong with a week of wine, debauchery, and song? Consider this… being deeply pregnant in the middle of summer. Guys, if you’ve never considered just how uncomfortable that might be, trust us… it’s BAD. It might be extreme, but have you ever considered hinting that you want a Snip-and-Clip this holliday?

Libra 

Yes, the last two week’s ‘Scopes have been a direct reference to a musical-comedy movie called, “The Court Jester” from 1955 starring Danny Kaye, Glynis Johns, Basil Rathbone, Angela Lansbury. See if you can find this one and gift it to yourself for your collection; it’ll be worth it.

Visiting your local mall isn’t the best of ideas if you’re shopping right now. Alternatively if you’re planning on getting writing inspiration, you’ll be headed to the right place. Sit in the food court and just people watch while writing down ideas for personalities as they come into your head. It’ll help stir your creative juices and get you characters that are grudgingly believable.  

Aquarius 

Late-night fireside snacks are the way to enjoy the long nights. And if you have a fireplace, see if you can find a popcorn box for it! It’s literally a metal box with a slide cover on top so you can make fresh popcorn in your fireplace. It’s not as efficient as a wok and requires some fire mittens to keep your hands safe, but it’ll be fun just the same.

Pisces  

Someone is going to gift you what looks like a long tube. Almost like someone gift-wrapped a gift-wrap paper tube. Do NOT be cute and try shaking it! It’ll be a liquor sampler case! Even if you don’t like these spirits directly, you can at least use them in cooking in the near future. Just remember two things. First, you can’t just open them all and drop them into a fruit cake recipe. And second, as cool as it might be, do NOT try doing the whole Flambe thing with the stuff. You look better with eyebrows.
