Rooting for characters to be good for good’s sake is boring. I’m real so I have to be good for good’s sake which is okay, but fuck if I need my characters in made up realities that don’t exist to be good even when the world is bad to them or they have the opportunity to be more interesting as monsters or tyrants or just straight up assholes. Ship people who are toxic. Fuck monsters. Kill people. Have fun. It’s fiction, that’s the point. Do what you have to do to be a good person in the real world who doesn’t do shitty things to other people or support people who do shitty things.

I saw these posters in my head for various combinations of SPN characters who appear in my fic Empty Earth, and I thought they'd be fun to actually see on screen. So I went unhinged and made them.

Most of these are serious, but some are complete crack.

Destiel:

He lost a deal - he found Truth. He lost his best friend - he found Despair. (Episode 15x18 "Despair" was originally meant to be named "The Truth".)

Note: Several of these combinations are not meant as romantic pairings. They just ended up in the same place at the same time in my story. Or they don't even interact, but their character arcs either have something in common or are polar opposites. You know.

(In other words, I just threw characters together into one pic on a whim because It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time.)

I know, I know, I'm crazy for making so many of these, lol. But I injured my leg and can't walk right now, so I needed the distraction.

And I kept thinking "But what about these characters? Don't they deserve a poster, too?"

For me it's that Dean blames Castiel for what happened with Belphegor because Castiel did the right thing but Dean is angry at him anyways and it's not fair

i mean, i fully agree that dean blaming cas for what happened with belphegor is not fair but i also think it's pretty obvious that that's not what their fight and subsequent breakup is actually about. the belphegor plan going wrong and resulting in rowena's death is just the straw that breaks the camel's back.

to me, their fight reads as dean being at his wits' end with everything that's happening and he's lashing out and he's taking it out on cas, which isn't fair, but at the same time he has every right to be mad at cas for other things. cas' fatal flaw is thinking he has to handle every single problem on his own, despite that never working out for him, and he literally never learns from it, and this time it resulted in mary's death. mary's death isn't his fault, of course, but what was going on with jack is just another thing that cas kept from dean. they've been stuck in a cycle of miscommunication for years.

dean 'please don't leave me' winchester wants cas to come to him with problems so that they can deal with them together and cas 'please ask me to stay' tiel wants to prove he's useful by fixing problems on his own so dean doesn't have to deal with them.

unfortunately for cas, his track record of actually fixing problems isn't great so to dean it just looks like cas is causing even bigger problems because...? he doesn't trust dean? he doesn't want to work with dean? hubris? whatever it is, they've been doing it for a decade. fandom likes to boil it down to dean being upset that cas didn't tell him about the snake but that's so reductive it's infuriating. dean's upset because cas was so concerned about what was going on with jack that he's immediately worried when he hears that mary's been alone with jack, to the point that he thinks jack's done something bad, and that instead of relaying these concerns to anybody else, he fucked off to try and fix it on his own and now it's too late.

mary's dead. jack's dead. chuck has been manipulating them their whole lives. was any of it real. rowena's dead. does any of it even matter. the only thing that feels real is the anger. they saved the world but at what cost. mary's dead. jack's dead. chuck has been manipulating them their whole lives. was any of it real. rowena's dead. ketch. kevin. charlie. bobby. crowley. adam. jo. ellen. ash. pamela. missouri. benny. meg. does any of it even matter.

the only thing that feels real is the anger.

my point is that the way dean is acting towards cas is unfair (and unproductive and unhealthy) but the anger he feels isn't unearned. and the show literally never solves this issue between them. dean apologizes for lashing out at cas but if cas hadn't sacrificed himself in 15x18, they would 100% have had this problem again at some point because they still haven't figured out how to communicate what it is they actually want.

SPN Poll: Most Forced “Romantic” Relationship (2.0)

Thank you to all of you who voted in my original poll on this topic. The results were not entirely what I expected but not too crazy, and some of the tags were really amusing (so thanks for that. Lol).

Because I missed a couple of key “couples,", I revised yesterday’s post to note that I would set up a new poll tonight including the ones I missed. One couple I meant to add but forgot and the other was requested (and I can’t believe it didn’t occur to me).

For this poll, I have removed any pairings that got less than 2% of the votes on my original poll, so I could make room for the pairings I missed.

Fun Fact! the only couple that got 0% of the votes was … Sam and Jess. Go them! Other Romantic (or romantic adjacent) pairings that are now “safe” are: Dean/Cassie, Sam/Madison, John/Mary, and Cas/Meg.

I realize interest might be less since this is basically a redux or the other post, but I’d love to see your reasons for you picks in the tags and, specially if you’ve changed your mind, or if there is more than one “couple” you take issue with.

Happy Thanksgiving to Dean Winchester, who made 25 pies, his angel husband, the nephil son they're raising with his brother and his wife Eileen along with their kid who Dean jokingly calls Dean, Jr., the daughter of his husband's meat suit who's somehow a clone of Dean, her girlfriend Kaia, her mom, Jody, her mom's girlfriend Donna, and their other kids Patience and Alex. His best friend's AU version and her girlfriend Stevie, his half-brother and his brother-in-law/his half-brother's husband, both of whom think he's an idiot for the dumb turkey hat he's wearing, his Uncle Carlos and and his Aunt Lata and their partners.

And their heaven-based family that Jack flew in: his mom, his dad, his dad's ex-gf/baby mama, Jack's mom (but neither of his biological dads who are Lucifer and a Republican senator, so equally evil), Claire's parents (why can't anyone tell Jimmy and Cas apart? Dean thinks they look nothing alike), his real/chosen dad Bobby and his wife Karen and boyfriend Rufus, his chosen sister Jo and her mom Ellen, his chosen sister Charlie who keeps flirting with his chosen sister Jo, his other brothers-in-law (who are speaking to them), Balthazar and Gabriel, his ex and sister-in-law Anna, and Jody's husband and son.

And their hell-based family who just showed up unannounced: Rowena, her girlfriend Bela, her son, Crowley, her son's boyfriend whose name nobody bothered to get (and he's mad because he'd hoped to make Dean jealous and stupid Benny refused to be his fake boyfriend), Meg (who is also mocking the hat), and for some ridiculous reason, Ketch pretending to be his own triplet.

Here's hoping nobody gets stabbed other than the turkey.

My rating (1-10): this is impossible because spn is both utterly perfect and dismally horrid. so, 5.

My favourite character: dean. im boring. i love him so much. i also really don't like him at all after a certain point,

My least favourite character: fucking ketch. i mean, i dislike a lot of characters, but ketch can get fucking wrecked. god i hate ketch. i hate ketch. fuck ketch.

The character I think I'd be friends with: i....think all characters in spn should be avoided at all costs, but i guess...i honestly don't know i gotta go look up some characters. okay. i think i could've vibed with pamela and gamble era meg.

The character I think I won't hit off with: lol a lot of them. let's just say john bc he's too much of a man. gross.

My favourite episode/scene: this is impossible. we're just gonna go by what i can think of in this very moment. episode: "a very supernatural christmas" and scene, the dream discussion scene in "baby"

Whose clothing style I like best: i do like dean's lumberjack chic.

Times I watched it (and if I would again): so. hrm. i have seen....s1-12 4 times, and seasons 13-14 3 times and s15 twice. as for if i would watch it again. i would watch s1-7, 11, and parts of 14 again. i don't think i could e v e r watch 8-10, 13, and 15 in their entirety again. i will never not loathe/despise/resent seasons 8-10 and s15, and also i think s13 is boring and stupid. so. i never want to sit through them again lol.

PENNY DREADFUL BABES

My rating (1-10): i haven't see the show in its entirety more than once, but i think i'd say 8.5. s1, of course, is a 10.

My favourite character: vanessa. i love her. i love her so much. i love ethan almost as much, but vanessa edges him out. she's perfect.

My least favourite character: i hate victor. i hate him. i also hate dorian, but mostly because he's boring. victor, however, is pathetic and small, which makes me hate him more.

The character I think I'd be friends with: i mean i wanna believe i could be friends with vanessa, but i'm probably not cool enough

The character I think I won't hit off with: i think dorian would clock me rolling my eyes at every word out of his mouth pretty fast. he's silly.

My favourite episode/scene: there's a good chance the cut wife episode of s2 would be my favorite, but bc i paused my rewatch and haven't gotten there yet, i'll stick with "closer than sisters." favorite scene: the sceane scene. that or when vanessa teaches ethan how to dance.

Whose clothing style I like best: VANESSA. easy. need i say more?

Times I watched it (and if I would again): i've seen the first seasons 3-4 times and the second season twice, third season once.
