I find it so refreshing that we are in this rare stage in western animation where disney is actually not monopolizing all the attention. If anything, 2022 has been one of their worse years yet in the animation department. Everything they have done has been completely eclipsed by other studios for once. Their Pinocchio "movie" was just obliterated by Guillermo del Toro's version. Strange World was completely forgotten because of poor marketing choices, allowing Dreamworks to come back with the Bad Guys and Puss in Boots, the first being very good and the second absolutely excellent (I'm being serious, this movie is SO MUCH MORE than a simple Shrek spin-off).

TMNT even got its time to shine with probably the best 2D animated film this year (in a technical aspect at least), rekindling an interest for the entire franchise (with another TMNT movie by Seth Rogen in production!!)

The Sea Beast was amazing. Wendell & Wild was a masterclass. 2022 has just been excellent throughout, and it's Disney that happens to be the weakest at the moment. Even the Minions 2 got more attention than most things that came out on Disney + Animation this year (not saying that the movie was great or anything, but it's saying a lot)

And when we look at the next Pixar movie coming out next year, the hype pales in comparison to the Mario movie, and let's not even TALK about Across the Spiderverse......everybody knows it's going to snatch everyone's wig, and all the awards under the sun to match it.

So yeah, western animation gets to breathe a little, and it feels amazing.

Wish 2.0 is on its way!!!

🌟 IT'S OFFICIAL!! 🌟

Me and a couple of folks are gonna remake Disney's Wish (for free, for fun, to honor Walt Disney's legacy properly, no commercialisation or anything of the sort)

We are still a growing team and would be happy to find more people to help (especially storyboarders/animators and voice actors).

Looking at Wish, I just keep thinking of the people who called Frozen a 'lazy movie' because they used really similar face shapes for Anna, Elsa and their mother.

Look at the ice and snow effects in that movie. Listen to the music. Enjoy the comedy. Remember that it isn't even close to the beauty of Disney's best and yet it still remains a work of art.

Now look at Wish as the monkey's paw curls. Hey- at least they use different face shapes.

#the background and character designs are so simplified it could be a tv show on netflix #fitting to call it Wish when that's the name of a scam website that sells subpar products #the songs have no structure and sound like a 13 year old wrote them #the characters are annoying #nothing matters #the main conflict is a mess #the main character is just an entitled brat #it feels rushed and cheap #and then they have the NERVE to reference their classic movies as if this garbage is the same?#they think they can have the magic without the artists who made magic possible #disney branding does not make disney quality #it is an insult to reference snow white especially #from a monumental movie that pioneered animation to something too cheap and cowardly to even try?#and the budget on Wish SHOULD have allowed fot a great movie but where did it go?#This movie would be fine enough as an indie film #to attribute this as Disney is wrong #nothing about Disney is left

so I had a hard time figuring out how to draw star boy until I found out the deleted scenes and he just give me major wukong vibes so I basically went with the style

basically my version of starboy is that he is a trickster god which is why he shapeshifts and has magic basically I like to thing he is in charge of all the wishes but since wishes were being granted by magnifico no one made a wish up to the sky asking him pleading him to have a wish granted so he couldn’t do his job and he thought they all forgot about him but then he hears a plea a girl making a wish to the stars

which he decided this shall be a grand new adventure he goes down to earth for the first time and meets Asha and her pet goat Valentino

I don't know if anyone thinks the same way about this as well, but I was talking about how SMG4 has become one of my fav pieces of media in the last few years to my friend @gaiaonthemoon when I introduced it to her.

Sure the show is silly and it's all focused around memes and internet humor, but when I watch the more serious arcs, I love the fact that I can NEVER predict whats going to happen next.

Anything can happen and you dont know where the plot is going, unlike so many shows and movies that Ive seen in the last few years, where i would guess whats going on in a matter of seconds before the scenes roll in.

This is a beautiful gift that both Luke and Kevin have with their writing, and worked amazingly in both the SMG4 series and their series on the Glitch Production channel.

Props to them, honestly💕

I watched Disney's Wish last night, and while I went in expecting it to be okay, I thought it was pretty good. It had a neat story with charming characters, and fun songs. King Magnifico was a return to form as a classic Disney villain, but he was also a complex character who started out with good intentions but a narcissist with twisted ideas on using his power and authority and his darker side became more exposed over time until he dove headfirst into full-on villainy. It was fun catching the references to older Disney films (although I thought one reference in the ending was a little too on the nose), but I don't think the story was too beholden to the nods to the company's filmmaking history to its detriment.

I think I would have liked it more if they had gone with things the creators originally intended but the higher-ups forced them to change, such as the Star being a shape-shifter with a humanoid base form and a love interest to Asha, Queen Amaya being a villain right alongside King Magnifico (it would have made her more interesting, plus I don't think Disney has ever done a villain couple in the movies), and the early designs for Asha's hair and outfit (the hair looks nice now, but it still makes her look too much like Isabela Madrigal).

But overall, I really enjoyed it.

Wish 2023 Remake!

Basically, after seeing so many people wanting Wish to be remade because the scrapped concept art actually looked interesting (unlike the actual movie) I was inspired to make this.

A discord server for anyone inspired and motivated enough to work with me to remake this movie, and bring back the glory of Disney… Without the company!

I am a concept artist, character designer, and have dabbled with story writing, song writing and directing. I will try my best to help!!

I hope everyone will join, I'm genuinely so motivated rn. We need as many people as we can.

Okay I understand Andor being most people’s favourite Disney+ Star Wars show

And that is an excellent choice because it’s an amazing show

But I always get kind of upset when I see people explain why it’s their favourite

Because I often just see people saying that it’s the best because it doesn’t have *insert list of stuff that other star wars stuff has*

But like…most of what I see in those lists are what makes star wars...star wars

#if you can’t complement something without putting something else down you’re doing it wrong #andor is an amazing star wars show no matter what...so why do people insist on insulting everything else #it just doesn’t make sense to me #to me star wars needs to have silly moments and cheesy characters and dumb dialogue to feel like star wars #i love when star wars hides real and important and relevant messages about the world behind a wall of absolute buffoonery #most people talking about star wars onlie aren’t little kids #and andor is the only mainstream star wars thing that doesn’t specifically try to cater to kids #so it makes sense that most older fans will like it more #but I really wish people would go back to understanding that just because you aren't apart of a popular product's target audience #it does not mean that product is bad #it just means it isn't for you #basically what i'm saying is why are you watching star wars if you don't like star wars?#andor #star wars #disney star wars #oh also this isn't about casual fans who watched andor for reasons other than it's a star wars show #kate's post
