(For the meme thing.) One thing about your writing that's memorable to me (of many!) is the really delicate way Jonathan and Nancy's relationship develops and becomes more intimate in Drive All Night. I love the way you wrote all of their little private excursions--there's a tenderness and curiosity there, and each one really stood out to me. And this is tiny, though related, but I loved that Jonathan was reading at least slightly horny books and mentally taking notes. That's such a good detail, and I loved what it showed about him in that story.
Thank you!!! I'm so glad that you said that, because I am not practiced at writing sex scenes. I really liked working with the challenges of the time period and their circumstances: there's little opportunity for them to be alone, birth control and abortion is way less accessible, premarital sex is way more stigmatized, and they cannot afford a baby. And they're both very responsible and practical, but also so into each other and so curious.
And, yes, there was absolutely at least one time, pre-series, when Joyce and Will were listening to the radio in the front room while Jonathan sat reading and underlining passages in one of his books. And Joyce was maybe kind of feeling bad that he didn't get to go out and have good times like other young men, and Will was thinking "I love him but he is kinda boring ngl." And there was just a thought bubble over Jonathan's head, like, "Eating pussy. Possible?"

Bruce Springsteen - Drive All Night
Baby, baby, baby
I swear I'll drive all night again just to buy you some shoes
And to taste your tender charms
And I just wanna sleep tonight again in your arms

current mood is literally just “just south of knowing why (drive all night) by taylor swift” lol
not sure if it’s truly a curse that i never learned to drive, or if that’s secretly a blessing. because the urge to just up and leave everything without any plan or security or anything has been getting increasingly more common lately
i just feel trapped here, mentally and physically - because i don’t have the means or financial security to leave. but i need out of here so badly, i don’t know how much longer i can take this
