Add your reasons, if you like!
Other people have added these:
• Yellow fever @notoverjoyed
• Scurvy @monitorchakas
• Lymph disease @wyrmalien
• Diphtheria ( I couldn’t fit this one)
• Malaria “ye olde marsh fever” @bombadilbaddie
• Scrofula “The King’s Evil” @hasturswig
Edit for all the people telling me “uhhh tuberculosis still exists”: I know! :) In fact, all of these sicknesses still exist. In the modern world we live in, however, most of these are only prevalent in developing countries, and certainly not to the extent they once were.

Acts 28:8 (NKJV) - And it happened that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him and prayed, and he laid his hands on him and healed him.

Does anyone know of any not-horrendously-unreliable resources that discuss dysentery in the middle ages? Just based on there appearing to be a fair amount of European monarchs with deaths related to dysentery around the 13th-ish century makes me assume it would be an issue related to rising populations with a lack of drastically improved sanitation. The interweb yielded no obvious results.

Ok so hypothetically, I’m on a cruise ship and one of the passengers dies of dysentery (hypothetically) would I (HYPOTHETICALLY) be at risk? if I am, what measures should I take (hypothetically) to protect myself from the (hypothetical) threat? At what point do I have to jump overboard and catch a ride (in theory) to shore on the back of a dolphin?
Asking for a (hypothetical) friend of course
Your first mistake is going on a cruise ship. Those are glorified petri-dishes. Second off, dysentery is a infection that can be caused by many different things. Make sure you clean any surfaces people touch and jump overboard when the food preparation staff starts getting infected.
