I don’t know who will see this but as a country we need your help. As you know two major earthquakes hit Turkey. Many houses were destroyed which unfortunately brought so many people with them. I'm so sad. Two big earthquakes (7.8 and 7.6) happened in my country and we lost thousands of our people. So many children and adults died and it's not just because of the earthquake but also because of freezing. I'm crying for hours because Hatay is one of the city which has the most lost but they can't get enough help rn. I don't know, I feel so bad because I can't do anything to help them. It's really the worst day of my life, please pray for my country. I don't want anything else

A major earthquake of magnitude 7.7 struck southern #Turkey and northwestern #Syria, killing over two thousand people as buildings collapsed and triggering a search for survivors trapped in the rubble.

Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) said that the 7.7 magnitude quake struck at 4:17 am and was centred in the Pazarcik district of #Kahramanmaraş province on Monday.

AFAD earlier updated the intensity of the quake from 7.4 to 7.7 magnitude at 09:55 GMT.

At least 2,316 people have been reported killed in Turkey, according to Vice President Fuat Oktay, and 9,733 people were reported injured in the quakes that destroyed dome 3,471 buildings.

In Syria, the latest numbers from the regime's health ministry and Syrian Civil Defence showed at least 783 people were killed after the quake in Turkey jolted the wider region.

The quake in Turkey occurred at a depth of 7 kilometres (4.3 miles) and was followed by 145 aftershocks, including two magnitude 6.6 and 6.5 quakes that struck southeastern #Gaziantep province, according to Oktay.

Eartquake, anxiety, old newspapers and more...

Hello everyone whoever reading this post. I’m from Turkey/ Istanbul and in my country just two days ago a huge earthquake happened you may check it on google if you want. They say its one of the biggest earthquakes ever happened on ground surface. There are still lots of people under collapsep building they basically wait to die at this point. In short there is tremendous amount of pain and suffering in Turkey nowadays. And as a person who suffers panic attacks and anxieties from time to time I decided to share one of my secret ways to feel calmer in the face of psychological difficulties. Actually I recenty discovered it when I was scrolling through instagram. While I was scrolling I came across a very old newspaper article from the beginning of 2000s. People thought 2000 will  be the year all computers collapses and people go back to stone age etc. I remotely remember those times. When I was checking out that article I realized how funny and unimportant it seems to present me. So I immediately feel calmer because of that feeling. Anything that happened at the past they are no longer scary no matter how important they were when happening. So any pain you experiening now will be that way in the future you may even laught at them. To feel it literally you may try to read an old article old newspaper even your old dairies  when you feel like life  is too dangerous or too serious :) I hope it makes you feel a  little better and please send prayers to Turkey.
