you never kept secrets. when you were young, you did everything in your will to keep your mouth shut but you were a blabbermouth, you couldn't help the words tumbling out from your lips. if someone were to ask you what your deepest darkest secret was, your lips would screw shut because truly, you never did keep secrets. any secrets kept from your parents, were secrets that not even your mind was fully able to comprehend, something you had not yet accepted about yourself.
but this. this was your favourite secret of all time.
it all happened so fast. how ellie once was your sisters best friend, the one in which would call you pretty names, have you a blushing mess before she even glanced sideways at you. and now, she was the same girl pulling you away from the others at school just to kiss you.
kissing. that had to be your favourite part.
call it what you want. some may say that you were so drunk off her kisses because you had never been kissed before, the feeling so foreign however you knew what the problem was, not that it was a problem at all. ellie knew how to kiss, better than anyone else in the world, you guessed. her tongue didn't bother fight for dominance, it slipped in so easily and you let it, you let her explore your mouth as crude sounds fell from your lips. you were drunk off her lips, the way they could kiss you so roughly, having you sitting with your hands placed on her shoulders to keep you up for you had chose kissing the girl over breathing a long time ago. the way she would kiss you so gently when she wished, whether she was leaving you off to class, pretending to brush something off your shoulders as she dipped her head down, a chaste kiss against your lips. you could drown in them, you were sure. in fact, you could drown in anything related to ellie, you'd die a happy woman. ellie williams had single handedly wrapped you around her finger and all it took was a mere kiss. if she had known this, she would have done it a long time ago.
however, it was still but a secret. you acted as though you were mere acquaintances in public, a small smile and a nod. but when she got you alone, god when she got you alone she couldn't help but ravish you. after all, she had been wanting you all day.
though it was a secret, it wasn't just you and ellie who were aware of the relationship. ashley had been over the moon when you had announced it and ever since then she had been asking both you and ellie about every little detail of the relationship. she was a fangirl, and you were her favourite couple. and, of course, joel miller had been made aware almost instantly.
you giggled, seated on your girlfriends bed, fiddling with the weird ball she had just given you. she made it a habit to hand you strange toys and watch your face try to figure out what it was in the most humorous way known to man. you were still getting used to being in a relationship. having a girlfriend. but with ellie, you didn't feel guilty for it didn't feel as if anything was wrong with what you were doing. ellie was an angel despite the devilish image she had created for herself in her mind. "you girls hungry?" you turned to see joel miller standing at the doorway, hand on the door handle as he bent through the crack.
"no, thank you, joel." grinning up at the man who had been only welcoming towards you since the moment you met him. you had already spent too many dinners at his house, however, your parents were dead certain that your choir practice was going amazing.
ellie gave you an amused glance before turning towards her step father. "suit yourself, i'm fucking starving." and of course she dragged you straight towards the kitchen because ellie was simply like that, she couldn't go anywhere without you, even in her own house. joel would only grin at you both, shaking his head as he looked down at the bread he was buttering. you were good for ellie, he deemed from the very first second he had been introduced to you, of course you and ellie weren't a 'thing' then, however, he could see right through the girl he knew something had to have been going on. he liked how ellie's days seemed brighter, how she seemed to be getting less slips from school, how she seemed to be doing her homework, that was one he was sure he'd never see again. he adored how sweet you were, always offering to clean up after you all, you had even cooked one of the days when joel had challenged your amazing cooking skills, you brought cookies over whenever you made them at home, you did seemingly anything to make his daughter smile, that was enough. and although he adored you, along with your older sister ashley l/n, he couldn't get over his distaste of your parents, one of which he had made quite apparent to you. he, of course, swore to keep your relationship a secret for he knew mr. l/n and he knew that he'd want you nowhere near that household, along with your mother who seemed to become witchier everytime he glanced at her. joel had come to grow quite very fond of you and when he saw how upset you could be with your parents, how you'd plant a smile on your lips and say 'oh it's fine' as ellie explained the situation, however, your eyes glassing over. when he saw how upset you were, his loathing grew for the nasty couple. he'd let you move in with them in a heartbeat, but he had grew to know you, and he knew you wouldn't wish your parents to be upset, so you simply brushed it off and continued with the constant abuse.
joel was always more than happy to let ellie use the truck on date nights too. it was a busted up, rusty red truck, whenever you glanced at it, joel always added "a truck that has been loved, y/n, adored even." insecurely, you might add. but you never cared, in fact, you had grown to love the truck.
of course, ellie always had to park at least a block away from your house, it would look too sketchy to walk in at the same time as you did. you'd enter, smiling and telling your parents that choir practice was, as usual, quiet but extremely interesting. ellie'd wait for at least ten minutes after that, then she'd enter with an eye roll from your parents as she greeted ashley, two screw ups, that was all they saw. and on those nights, you and ellie would try not to look at one another during dinner, to make sure it wasn't too obvious, of course.
ellie williams was a dream, a secret one that you closed off from the world. your teachers didn't know, your friends didn't know and most importantly, your parents didn't know.
princess i think it's very rude that you always come to see ash and not me, actually.
els would you rather me rat you out to joseph and mary?
you rolled your eyes at the message, her referring to your parents as such names.
princess no thanks but you should definitely come into my room with ash and watch a movie :D
els I'll do my best to convince the wicked witch of the west
princess eeeeeek thank youuuu
els you owe me, baby
princess psh watever now stop texting 'n driving
you grinned down at your cellphone before placing it flat down on your drawer, if only you didn't, perhaps you would have been able to see the many notifications that popped up from your sister, frantic. pushing the covers off, you stood from your bed and towards your wardrobe. you wanted to look somewhat presentable for tonight, you wanted to be pretty for ellie, there was simply no other reason to be rooting through your clothes at such an hour.
you pulled out an old, large, t-shirt. to be exact, ellie's t-shirt, the one in which you were gifted the before day that she had kissed you. you and ellie hadn't been together for a very long time, however, you were upmost embarrassed looking back at how much you shoved her away, fear eating away at you. it was shameful, how scared you were to let her in but you thanked every star in the galaxy that you came to your senses before it was too late.
you dressed in a simple baby pink long sleeved top and a grey sweatpants, after all, you didn't want to look like you were trying too hard. you didn't want to think about it too much, after all, you were sure that ellie wouldn't truly care to so much as look at what you were wearing. the thought was stupid, that the shirt you wore, or the way you fixed your hair had anything to do with your relationship, however, that didn't change the fact that you sat in front of your mirror and attempted to matt down the cows lick of the left side of your hair, teeth tugging at your lip in concentration.
you never wore make up, didn't even think about it, but you did when with ellie, you wondered if she truly liked the way you looked or if she just thought better not to mention it. nevertheless, everytime she hummed and called you 'pretty girl' those thoughts seemed to leave your mind in an instant.
your door bursting open caused your eyes to shift from the mirror, hairbrush caught between your teeth and hands on the top of your head. ashley was close to frantic, hands in the air, the look on her face had your own contorting to concern. "ash? what's wrong?" setting the hairbrush down and walking closer, wondering what on earth had been wrong with your sister.
her and your parents were out that evening with some college meeting. the thought of your sister moving had your heart wrenching. "i— i'm sorry, y/n." the closer you got, you could see the way her eyes were glossed over. before you could open your mouth, she was blubbering again. "it was an accident, it just came out and— oh my god." her hands pulling at her hair. "i'm sorry, im so so sorry."
you walked closer to her, confused as to what she was apologising for. by now, you stood directly in front of her. grabbing her hands softly, you pulled them down to view her face properly, it seemed as though her mind had been stuck on this for a while. this certainly wasn't her first set of tears. "hey, i'm not mad." of course you weren't, you didn't know what happened. "tell me what happened, i promise i won't be mad."
but your sister merely choked out half a sob as she heard the front door slam shut. your parents were home. "you're gonna hate me." a mere whisper, as if a warning. before you knew it, your parents were at your bedroom door, up the stairs in mere seconds. your father stood, a menacing look etched to his face. his brows were contorted into a heavy frown and his lips pursed, your mother, in tears, stood by his side with her arms crossed. you, baffled, looked between ashley and your parents, two of which had never looked so... angry. sure, they had looked at ashley like this, at non-blievers like this but never was it directed at you. "y/n/n, they know."
your eyes shifted between your parents and your sister again, heart stuttering. whatever they knew, it wouldn't be too bad, surely it couldn't. they couldn't know about ellie, they couldn't. you did everything in your power to assure that they didn't find out. the only people that knew was you, ellie, joel... ashley. "know what?" it came out feeble, small, as if you were a glass ready to shatter at any given moment.
"we know." your mothers strong voice rang out through the room and the moment it did, you realised. everything was so fucked.
teary eyed, fear stricken, your mouth opened and closed, turning towards your sister who was biting her nail, her own eyes glassy and apologetic. you ripped your eyes away from her instantly, you couldn't look at her. your heart dropped to your stomach, everything inside you twist. that familiar knot came back, the very one that had left the moment your lips fell to ellie williams' the second time, it was back and oh how it had multiplied. this was your secret, your only secret. why couldn't it just stay like that.
"so it is true then?" your father spoke as he abandoned your mothers side, walking right into the room. "you're one of them." he spat the word out like venom. you stayed silent, taken aback as you stared at them in pure horror, the very thing you had never wished to happen, happened. your body stood frozen still, mind frozen in time, too. "no." he spoke, shaking his head at you. and suddenly... he looked at you the very way you did everything in the world to avoid. he looked at you like you were a monster. "no daughter of mine would behave this way." looking you up and down like filth. "you are not my daughter."
you blinked back the first tear. you knew the minute it began... it would never end. "I— i am." you stressed, voice breaking as you looked at the man you loved with the most pleading expression you had ever had. "it's still same me, i'm not any different than i was before, you have to listen to me. i tried to fight it, i did!" and suddenly, you couldn't stop the waterworks. "daddy, plea-"
"it was those friends." your mother interrupted, stepping so much closer than your father willed. "i told you. I told you that you would ruin everything!" your mother had never been the forgiving type. "look where you are now! what you did, what you have destroyed!" and your eyes pleaded with your father who turned his nose down at you, he wouldn't look at you. "do you know what this will do to your father? to you? to us?" and her own voice broke, as if anything was hurting her. they'd never understand how hard you tried. how much you wished to not be this way but it didn't work, it never did. "why are you doing this? is it to make a stand against us? to rebel against your parents because you're fed up of going to choir?!" you mumbled something beneath your breath. "you better speak up before i-"
"you don't get it." frantic hands pushing at your hair. for the first time in your life, you spoke against your parents, not for them. "i tried— i really tried to get rid of everything, the feelings, the thoughts but i just-" you sniffled and wiped your sleeve against your nose. "i finally, for once in my life figured out who i was and i don't know what i was expecting..." turning your head away from them. but you knew better, how every were you supposed to get it out turning away. so you turned back, eyes burning into your mothers. "i suppose i guessed that you and him would finally take a second— just a second to stop being so focused on yourselves and understand where i'm coming from, understand me!"
your mother locked her jaw. "you think we're selfish, is that it?!" your father yelled, turning back to you. "I have done this, all of this for you!" hands flailing in the air causing you to flinch.
"no you didn't!" no one in the room seemed to hear ellie's truck pull up, nor hear the door open. "you did it for you because it's always you, you, you! maybe if you took a day off to look around you might realise that ashley's done a better job at raising me than either of you have!" and as angry as you were at the girl, you couldn't deny that ashley was a true guardian, they were not. "and maybe you'd realise that i'm not going to change." you stood your ground, as much as your voice wavered and your hands shook, you spoke, despite the tears. "okay? I'm gay." that was the first time you had ever spoken the real sentence. "i— i'm gay and i always have been! and maybe if either of you took your nose out of a bible and i don't know- at least tried to understand you'd realise that it's not a choice!"
your mother shook her head at you. "i don't care what the internet says. god doesn't listen to your kind's stupid excuses." your kind. as if you were some kind of an animal.
"uh... what's going on?" oh god no. there stood ellie williams in all her glory, jacket covered in rain and her boots beginning to soak your carpet, you didn't much care because by the sounds of it, you weren't going to be living here by tomorrow.
everyone whipped around to see ellie, an umberella in her hands yet soaking wet, sometimes you wondered if you truly were dating an idiot. "you." your father shot towards her. "you stay the hell away from my daughter!"
she gave him a raised eyebrow, however, she didn't flinch back. "which one? gotta be more specific man-" confused as ever.
"this is it, y/n." your mother turned back to you. "this is who you're turning your back on your life for, who you're turning your back on your family for." ellie's brows furrowed in confusion until finally, they relaxed in shock. oh. "i'm giving you one last chance to make this right."
it seemed as though everyone in the room was watching you. "turn back to the light, y/n." your father spoke as if it were some evil rooted inside of you. "turn to god and he'll wash away all of your sins. we can forget about this."
and you looked between your parents, both their faces as they waited patiently for you to cry out and hug them. you'd state that it was all merely for attention or lack of which you had gotten. you wanted to lash out, rebel against them because that was simply what teenage girls do and you knew the only way to hurt them was this. but it didn't come. your eyes glanced back to ellie williams, standing as dishevelled as ever before and she was staring right at you, pretty emerald eyes boring into your own. she didn't look scared, nor did she appear any bit concerned for your answer because she knew you better than you knew yourself, she knew what your answer would be before it even came out of your mouth. and yet, she knew you would chose her, between every galaxy in the universe, constellations in the sky, and yet, you still managed to shock her.
"i love her."
your mother and father dropped such sympathetic looks and suddenly, you were no longer a l/n, they didn't have that glint in their eyes as they stared back, it turned to pure rage. and yet ashley's eyes had softened on your frame, ellie's eyes could only go wide. you... loved her? you loved her too. she was frozen in time, her hands stuck to her side and her umbrella nearly slipped from her fingers. she stared at you and you stared right back at your parents, eyes nowhere near hers and yet even so she felt as though you were talking to her, communicating to her through your crystal fallen tears.
your mother breathed a sigh of pure fury. "you disgust me." and you knew she meant it, with every single bone in her body. but as much as you knew she meant it, you never would have thought she'd do what she did next. you didn't think it was so much as a possibility for her to bring a hand up like she did. suddenly, you felt a pang, you could feel your nose drip almost the same time that her hand came in contact with your face. you expected silence, one in which you could just stare at her, your mother, your supposed protector in which hit you because of what? she couldn't accept the fact that you were happy. truth be told, you were sure you and ellie would be happier than she and your father ever were.
the silence never came.
commotion enveloped the bedroom. "fucking hit her again!" ellie was in your mothers face before you were out of it. ashley swooped in then, grabbing a hold of you as you cradled the side of your face, blood from your nose dripping down your hand. "no, seriously!" as much as your father attempted to push ellie away, she wasn't scared, she was nearly as tall as him for bloody sake. "fucking try it!"
your mother was just as angry as she. "get out of my way, faggot." despite the tears, your eyes blew wide, where did she even hear such a word?
you didn't get to hear much more of their conversation for before your mother could so much as take a breath, ellie's fist connected with her face. you attempted to push yourself further, ashley could only hold you back as tears stung at the rim of your eyes.
this was all of your fault.
ellie didn't swing once, nor did she swing twice, she punched the woman at least three times before your father interfered. he didn't use violence, why would he? he was a man of god. "fucking pussies." ellie muttered as your mother and father stood off, your mother completely sobbing now, as you were, silently as you could in your sisters arms.
if only you didn't kiss her. if only you didn't allow yourself the satisfaction. if only you listened to that instinct that told you to run away that night. but you didn't want to run from ellie, no, if you could do anything different you would have run further, out of that room, that house, you could be in a different state by they so much as notice you had left.
your father stood off to the side, cradling your mother in his arms. "get out of my house." staring at ellie who merely glared right to him, not a shot of fear in her eyes. "now."
she scoffed, locking her jaw as she turned her head. "c'mon, sweetheart." eyes pointed at you. your lip was tucked beneath your teeth as ashley let her arms fall from around you.
"she won't go with you." your father scoffed back. "she's my daughter." if only he knew how little that meant after that night. ellie williams didn't utter a word, she simply held her hand out from behind her, eyes locked with your fathers. so you did what you had longed to do for so long. hesitantly, you stepped forward and stretched your hand out, it fell into hers. instantly, she locked your fingers together, a proud grin on her lips as she looked right back at your horrified dad. "by the holy bible, you will regret this, y/n."
"no, i don't think she will." ellie tsked and like that, she got you right out of that bedroom.
you didn't remember when you stopped crying that night. what you did know, however, was that it was not down the stairs or when you got in the truck or when ellie had sat you on the bed after assuring you that joel had a night shift. "ellie th-they hate me." you blubbered as the girl attempted to wipe your nose with a damp cloth, it was proving difficult with the tears mixing with the blood and the dried blood that had stuck to your pretty skin. you hated crying, you hated being vulnerable and you did not have any intentions of doing so in front of the girl you adored so dearly and yet here you were, unable to stop the tears from flowing.
"they don't hate you, sweet girl." doing her best to keep your face still as the damp cloth wove it's way around your skin. "they're just.. shocked is all." funny, she didn't think she'd hit a grown woman three times for merely being shocked. she was almost done with your face, still trying to get the bits of dried blood around your left cheek off.
you shook your head, still crying. "they hate me, they hate you. els 'm so sorry." ellie dropped the cloth onto the floor beneath her.
"hey, hey, look at me." she grabbed your face between her hands. "none of this is your fault." you tried to look away, she wasn't letting that happen any time soon. "it's not your fault they're close minded cunts. they can go— i don't know fuck the three wise men or something." this sprouted the quietest, lovelies of giggles from you, small, quiet but enough. ellie grinned, her eyes tracing every perfect imperfection of your skin. "there she is." a dazing smile on her lips as her eyes raked your face.
you sniffed, realising her hands had clapsed around your own. "you're not mad at me?" you questioned oh so quietly.
"mad at you?" she laughed under her breath. "baby, i'd never." she disconnected one hand, you ignored the way only one of hers was enough to cover both of yours. the free hand came to your face, you didn't flinch like before, you relished in it. the way the pads of her fingers traced around your skin, slowly pushing your hair behind your ear. a whisper left her lips. "you're too pretty to be mad at, anyway."
something in the air had shifted.
"els..." as her finger pads danced against your pretty skin. she hummed quietly, entranced by your pretty face. "can you kiss me."
"don't need to tell me twice."
her lips were ecstatic, rough against your soft ones. she captured you in a kiss so blissfully that it sent your face backwards slightly. her hands fell to your thighs as your hands sat on her shoulders. she was on her knees before you, kissing you so roughly as you ignored how hot you suddenly felt. you never kissed someone before ellie but for an inexperienced person or an experienced person, ellie had to be the best kisser in the world. it seemed as though everytime you forgot what to do, she was doing something to make up for it. she kissed you roughly, you sloppily chased her speed. her right hand travelled further up your thigh and softly squeezed. your lips parted and a noise left your lips, ellie took the perfect moment to slip her tongue inside your mouth, allowing it to explore easily as it pushed your own down, not bothering to fight for dominance, she would win anyway.
she picked your hips up slightly, detaching your lips so she could push you further up the bed, she stood before you, you looked up at her with pretty doe eyes. "fuck me." she mumbled beneath her breath before attaching your lips once more. she slowly guided your back to hit the sheets beneath you and continued to kiss roughly at your hips. your hands came up, gathering around her neck while her own fell down to your hips, groping the plush skin of your waist while her teeth came down to softly nip at your bottom lip, tongue soothing down the skin soon after before she returned kissing you. the feeling was so euphoric, so many things happening at once, you didn't have a chance to acknowledge them all at once, too busy focusing on the sudden ache between your legs.
oh no. it was happening again, that funny feeling that always settled in when ellie kissed you too long, when her hands found home on your skin in a somewhat different way than the others. "els..." you breathed out, detaching yourself from the kiss, you looked right up at her with desperate eyes, she knew then and there.
"what's wrong, baby?" as her lips came down to trace across your leg, littering small kisses against the sensitive skin that had your back arching against her and off the mattress.
you breathed out in frustration. "ellie... need you." pulling at her sleeve, she knew exactly what you needed, she could practically see the wet pool already despite the fact she wasn't even looking. "please..."
"please what, angel?" kissing against your neck once more, just beneath your jaw. you made a noise, one of more frustration. one that told her you needed her more than any other gesture or words would have. but she wasn't having it. she wanted to embarrass you, make your cheeks go pink and your eyes flutter the way they did. "be good and use your words and i might..." hands tracing against the bottom of your stomach, so close to where you needed her. "give you a reward, hm?"
you had never had sex before. in fact, you hadn't even thought of how it would happen let alone did you ever think it would be with your sisters best friend. a girl, you may have guessed but ellie williams, never. sure, you could wish but a girl can dream, never did you think it would be reality. there was one thing and one thing alone that you were sure about, however.... "please, ellie, t-touch me."
she moved away from your neck, looking down at you as she positioned herself above you. "you sure this is what you want?" clarifying before you began. "if you're still upset we can just relax, we don't need to do anything you don't want to." and your heart swelled, ellie williams cared about you more than she cared about anyone else in the whole world.
a small smile brushed across your lips. "i want to, ellie." you spoke, in a mere whisper. "I really want to." because it was her and ellie could make you comfortable enough to jump off the earth if she wanted to. she made you feel so warm... so loved, however, she also had this special trick where she made your panties wetter than anyone before.
"in that case." chuckling as she bent down to place another kiss against your lip, this one so much more passionate, not as rough. she kissed you again and again while her hands managed to ease around your skin once more, suddenly her fingers and large hands were tracing every inch of you, you almost held your breath. she soothed your shirt up a little, hands falling onto your stomach as she pushed her hands around, rubbing your sides up and down as you shivered into her touch. "you ever touched yourself, angel?" angel, a quite contrasting name to such an event. your face grew hot at the question, lips parting and closing once more with a small huff, the situation much too shameful. "don't go shy on me now, sweetheart." she pushed your chin forward, eyes locking into your own with lips brushing against one anothers. you breathed heavily, eyes boring into her pretty green irises and tracing her freckles that littered across her smooth skin. you made a certain hum with a nod, a desperate one as your back arched off the mattress. "yeah?" you whimpered as her lips came down to soothe your neck, pressing sloppy kisses across the delicate skin. "you ever came, baby?" a fragile whisper as the image of you in your bedroom, pretty legs parted with your hand between them as you desperately tried to get off. of course, how would you even know how to. her long fingers traced your skin, she had pushed your sweatpants down ever so slightly so that she was just above where you needed her. you whined into her touch, pushing yourself down the bed further with a small shake of your head, admittedly embarrassed. "no?" an almost teasing smirk in her face. of course you didn't know how to tease yourself, not properly at least. you were so fucking innocent and oh how ellie couldn't wait to taint you.
"ellie." it was a whisper, almost a warning so she would stop teasing you. endless nights, you had your hand down between your legs, hoping to any saint above that no one would walk in. you never quite reached that euphoric feeling the books explained.
"i know, angel, i know." you were far from an angel, you deemed. "let's get this off, hmm?" fingers slowly trailing up and down your pant leg. you nodded, breathlessly and panting as the girl gripped the waistband between her fingers. she waited a moment, watching your desperate face whither once more before slowly, dragging it down your legs with ease.
her eyes never left your body as the material grouped up in her hands, she tossed it somewhere then, she wasn't really looking but the silence that followed without a clatter seemed to be good news. her eyes fell, sitting on your pretty white cotton panties. a smirk fell across her face, of course they were. your breath caught in your throat, feeling the cold air nipping at your bare yet soft legs. ellie took the chance to place sloppy kisses against your stomach, her hands toying with the silky flesh of your legs. your back arched.
but before the girl could get to the place you needed her the most, you whined out, grabbing her shoulders. she stopped in an instant, coming back up to your face. " 's wrong, baby?" and you almost whimpered at the name, but you controlled yourself... for now.
your grasped at her sleeves, pushing yourself closer to her. "your turn." you mumbled, looking up at her with those hazy doe eyes, she smirked right at you. bending down, she placed three kisses against your lips before sitting herself up slightly, pushing her arms through the holes of her t shirt, you watched in awe as she tossed it somewhere in the room. your eyes immediately fell to her chest, ignoring the growing pit in your stomach. while in awe, she reached down and kissed your dazy state away. tugging at your own long sleeved top, she tossed it somewhere with the pile of clothes too, all sitting together rather neatly, considering she threw them when she wasn't looking. white bra, how cute.
"better?" she mumbled seductively against your lips, hands moving up to cup your covered breasts, palming her hands over them.
"better." you whispered, trying to keep every sound you possibly could contained and yet it proved to work to no avail as a small whimper fell from your lips.
she kissed down your stomach once more, slowly, excruciatingly so. hot, sloppy, open mouth kisses against every fraction of your skin. your back arched off the mattress, hands steady on the girls shoulder. no bra. of course she was wearing no bra. her lips trailed further down your stomach, past your belly button and only did they stop right above your pretty panties. " 'm gonna take 'em off." you didn't respond with yes but a mere whimper and you did what you simply couldn't control. bucking your hips up, almost hitting your core off the girls face. she grinned at what she had created, a rather damp spot soaking through your panties. "so fuckin' eager." you assumed she would grab your panties, toss them somewhere foreign like she did so many times before. you assumed wrong.
her teeth slightly scratched against your hip bone as they hooked around the side of your panties. slowly, she dragged the panties down with her mouth with little to no effort, sliding them smoothly along your legs. you glanced down, out of breath already. she had her eyes closed and it looked as though she were trying not to get too caught up in the situation, as if she were holding herself back. she pooled them at your feet then grabbed them with her slim fingers. you watched as she pocketed them in the back of her jeans and yet you said nothing, just watched as she grinned down at you, menacing face contorted into an almost evil grin.
but she couldn't look at you, not yet, before she let what she didn't want... unfinished. "before i do anything..." she mumbled, hand coming towards your chest. you gasped as you felt her pull your pretty silver cross from your neck, she didn't pocket that, nor did she toss it away, she simply placed it delicately on the desk beside her. who did she care, the clasp was surely broken anyway. maybe it was just a silly souvenir. you looked up at her, eyes barely blown wide. "what? y'don't need it no more, pretty girl." because the cross was a symbol of purity and you were anything but pure now. and the way your puffy lips stretched out, the way your eyes dazily glanced up at her as if she were made of diamonds. she knew it was official. she had corrupted you, molded you to her own liking.
you gasped at the sudden sensation of her hand cupping your dripping cunt. she almost laughed at you. "haven't even touched you yet, baby." you bucked your hips into her hand, oh how you wanted her to touch you. "all f'me?"
you nodded, panting like a lap dog. "please, els." whimpering once more. and who was ellie to deny such a request? you gasped out, breath stuttering as her hands parted your legs and one fell on your cunt. she rubbed two fingers against your pretty pink nub, watching as you reacted so... verbally. the way you moaned at the way she simply drew circles on your clit had herself almost grinding in her jeans. while she controlled herself, she simply couldn't stop by how reactive you were, you were in much too deep now.
fingers fell down to your hole, collecting your juices on her fingers. she groaned as she pressed her lips to your neck, anything to distract herself from practically fucking you then and there. she shoved one finger in, watching as you jumped at the foreign feeling. you had rubbed your clit before, of course, but never had you inserted a finger into yourself. and even if you did, nothing could have compared yourself for her slim, long fingers.
you moaned out. "oh... ellie." eyes squeezing shut as she began to move. she pumped her finger in and out, watching as you moved your body with it, practically fucking yourself with her finger. a knot made it's way to your tightening stomach. for good measure, she didn't add another finger.
she added two.
the feeling of her stretching you out had your back arching and mewls falling from your pretty lips while ellie attacked your neck with kisses. she pumped her fingers in and out of you, watching as you wriggled in her grasp, grinding yourself off her fingers. she didn't say anything, simply kissing your neck and allowing you to get off on her fingers. there would be more time to tease you in the future. besides, she'd be lying if she said she didn't adore the sounds leaving your lips and the way the bed creaked with the movements of ellie shoving her fingers in and out of you.
"feeling desperate, hm?" as she kissed up your jawline. you were sure, this was the euphoric feeling they explained. "want me to make you cum, sweetheart?" and what were you to say? deny yourself of the pleasure? certainly not. relish in it? absolutely.
"mmph." whining into her mouth as she captured your lips, tongue slipping into your mouth. "please ellie." you could have screamed for her then and there. "please ellie, make me cum!" her big body against your tiny one, she couldn't help but fawn.
"your wish is my command, princess." something you never would have guessed could be so hot. she moved her lips from your face and down your body. you moaned out at the feeling of her fingers, still fucking you senseless as your hands moved from her shoulder to her head. she positioned her face right in line with your core. you suddenly felt nervous but that feeling of her against your cunt was just so much more overpowering.
she didn't give you so much as a warning as her tongue flattened out against your clit, her fingers never stopping their fast pace. "oh!" your legs had spread with ease, sitting up bent at the knees with your socks sitting at either side of ellie's head, your back arched, hands on the back of her head while your own fell into the cushions behind you. eyes screwing shut, her pretty mouth working so perfectly on you.
mewls. whimpers. ellie could have come from the sound alone. they were nothing short of pornographic. how could she not smirk against your core as she lapped you up, holding you still with her free hand. she was making you make these sounds. she was making you squirm as you did. she made that knot in your stomach tighten.
your chest quickened its fast paces. "ellie— ellie, i'm gonna-" you were going to come. you had never reached anywhere close to that and here ellie was, effortlessly making you reach a hundred.
she parted her mouth from your clit. " 's okay, baby, let it out." and you assumed she'd slow down. once again, you assumed wrong. pouncing forward, she began licking and lapping your tongue against your clit once more, watching as you squirmed against here, almost screaming. it was when her name ripped from your throat that she knew you were so close. so close that she could feel your walls clenching around her fingers. she didn't stop, nor did she slow down as she awaited the arrival in which she had dreamt of the day she met you.
"oh god, oh god!" you hoped god was nowhere near that bedroom. "ellie!" and that was the last thing ellie heard before she felt you completely collapse around her. she felt white, hot liquid gush out from your pussy all over her fingers. she could taste you. your body jerked, the most pornographic mewls falling from your lips as you bucked your hips over and over again. she continued to fuck you through your high, tongue doing anything it could to pick up all your juices. the salty taste had her wanting more.
she didn't stop until your body was practically vibrating.
ellie came back up to meet your face which was embarrassed and flushed. sweat caused your hair to stick to your forehead and your chest moved up and down rapidly due to your irregular breathing pattern. pretty plush lips parted as you panted heavily. her breathing had picked up too, eyes grazing over your pretty skin as she lifted her fingers to her mouth, sucking off your juices. you watched entranced, innocent eyes blown wide. you wanted to shy away, suddenly beyond embarrassed as the euphoric feeling began to fade away. but you didn't, your eyes were too focused on the pretty girl in front of you. "you okay to keep going?" she breathed heavily as your head fell deeper into the pillows beneath you. there was more? you nodded your head rapidly, head moving up in an instant to lock your lips to ellie's, she got the hint almost instantly. you were ready, you were beyond ready.
the adrenaline sat in your chest, burrowing there as your lips moved at seemingly the same pace as ellie's, though you wouldn't deny the fact that she was leading the pathway, you could only sloppily follow. your eyes a little heavier, you assumed it was that euphoric feeling taking a toll on you however by the way ellie was beginning to unbotton her jeans, you could only assume that whatever was to happen next was going to please her just as much as it did you the first time and boy did you want that, desperately.
she was above you, kissing your lips roughly as her hands fiddled with the buttons and zipper of her jeans, rough material sliding down her legs with a little less ease than your own. however, she didn't waste a second to toss them into the pile of your discarded clothes from before. dressed in black boxers, you couldn't help but gawk at her but she didn't allow it too long for in seconds she was desperately raking them off her body, eagerly pushing the material off her body so she could feel you again.
you made a noise into her mouth, her kisses making your face hot, cheeks pink and mind beyond ditsy. as soon as she was bare, all fabrics discarded, she had pushed at your knees, sending them up so you were practically making a bridge with them. "fucking hell." a whisper beneath her breath as she looked at your already soaked pussy in your own juices from before. she did that. she couldn't help but grin in pride at your abused cunt. her hands fell to yours, pushing them down against the mattress as her larger ones cupped your smaller ones, holding you in place so easily. you were like her very own doll and oh how she loved playing with you. you watched as she hooked a leg past your waist, knee planting itself on the other side of the bed from you. you swallowed thickly and watched her in anticipation. you had never done something like this before. it was safe to say that you're stomach was doing flips, that your heart rate sped as fast as it ever had before but you couldn't deny the sole comfort her big hands brought, almost grounding you.
she didn't take another breath, state another word, before planting herself right on top of you.
her pussy fell on yours, she let out a groan at the feeling, sudden relief washing over her. you whined at the contact, holding her hands tighter if even possible. she bent her body towards you, hands still clasped together as she slowly rolled her hips against your own. you whimpered at the feeling of her clit bumping off your own. "ellie." you all but mewled. "f-feels so good." as she continued to slowly roll her hips, grinding down onto your pretty cunt.
ellie was in no mind to stop, eyes closed and her throat held many sounds of her own. "fuck." trying to do everything in her will to not take it to the extreme, it was your first time, she wanted to be gentle. "tryin' not to push it, sweetheart." alerting you of how badly she wanted to fuck you senseless.
you breathed heavily, the feeling of her pussy on your abused one so stimulating. "i can— i can take it." pretty doe eyes looking up at her as if you wanted nothing more than for her to feel good. and you did, you'd do anything to make sure she felt as good as you, it would be almost monsterous to deprive anyone of this euphoric feeling, the one in which had your legs trembling and lip wobbling as you tried to contain your sounds, ignoring the lump in your throat. "please, els." you whimpered, grinding your own hips against her, she let out a grunt, holding your hands tighter. "want you to."
she didn't need to be told twice.
she pushed her hips up and down, heavily and swiftly as she felt your pretty cunt against your own.
she practically got drunk off of your noises. holding you close, she never stopped her agonising pace as she even began pushing her hips to the side, rarely yet every time it had a new sound coming from your lips. she wondered just how many sounds she could make you make.
rutting her pussy roughly against yours, she listened to the crude squelching sounds from your wetness mixing with her own. "yeah." she breathed, lips close to your own as she held your hands so hard you couldn't feel them anymore. the feeling was too elating to move your mind from. your eyes fluttered closed at the feeling of your stomach tightening again. "takin' me so well, sweetheart." and she meant it so much. she allowed her own eyes to close as she never stopped her pace. rubbing herself against you so carelessly and sloppy, she could feel her high coming on just as it had the many nights ellie imagined this very moment. hips roughly shoving your own down, you couldn't help but move with her as she fucked you senseless.
"ellie!" you whined, back arching off the bed. her sweaty forehead was pressed against your own. she knew that tone, the very one you had used before, the very one she imagined so many times.
she breathed out a huff, eyes still closed. "me too." and the knot was so close to untangling, she all but swallowed back her noises. opening her eyes she roughly shot her face forward, lips latching to yours. you desperately kissed her back as she began to rut her hips so eagerly.
you would have screamed if it weren't for her lips on your own, maybe that was why she had done it, to silence you or maybe to silence herself. whatever the case, you were much too wrapped up in your own world to so much as consider it. you felt your stomach finally give out as ellie's did almost simultaneously. her juices mixed with your own, like to complimented chemicals in a science fair. with her lips on yours, she groaned deeply while you whimpered, your hips slowly stopped grinding to her own and she too slowed her rutting. noises falling between one another, you could barely breathe. her lips were suffocating you and you would have died happily there and then if you could have.
two damp cloths and a toilet use later, you sat drowsy in ellie williams bed. your head was limp against the crook of her neck as she laid with you in her arms. after you had cleaned up, she offered you some of her clothes, stating she'd tell joel everything in the morning, claiming he'd be more than happy to let you crash because apparently 'he'd rather you as a daughter anyway'. you brushed her off but thanked her heavily, kisses falling around her freckles as she laughed at your giggly yet drowsy state. it was only seconds later that you ended in the predicament that you did, arms wrapped around her loosely while her own squeezed you close.
thoughts of that night swam through ellie's head. she wondered how fast that mood had changed, from crying with a damp cloth on your face to almost brought to tears by ellie williams' pussy. she smirked to herself before glancing over at the broken silver chain that sat on her desk, you hadn't even mentioned it.
the girl turned back to you, your eyes were closed and your breathing was slow, cheeks pink and lips plush. if she didn't know any better, she'd think you were asleep. "baby?" you hummed, quietly yet barely heard, you were too far deep in sleep, ellie wasn't even sure if you'd register her words, she didn't care, she needed them out. "i love you too."
crazy to think a little lust for the pastors daughter led her well... here.

It had been 6 hours since Ellie had disappeared into the abyss you called your guest bedroom and now Ellie's newly turned office. Her rooms grey walls were plastered in posters of a various games and bands she liked. LED lights ran around the ceiling, usually on the blue setting, sending the hue beaming out through the crack underneath the white paneled door.
Your small ginger cat was scratching irritably at her offices door. "Garfield stop it," you hissed at him, giggling at the ridiculous name Ellie chosen out for your chunky British shorthair.
"Garfield, I'm serious" you hushed at the creature, picking up the skittish chonk from Ellie's door. Garfield let out a loud, dramatic 'Yowww' throwing his head back. you sighed "You really want Ellie cuddles right now huh"
"meow"
"yeah, me too..." You looked at the beautifully majestic ginger chunk of a cat and sighed in pity for yourself. "Fine go in then..." You whispered at him, grabbing the brass handle and slowly nudging the wooden door ajar, letting Garfield scutter in enthusiastically, before shutting the door again.
Ellie was caught off guard as a fuzzy orange thing flung itself onto her lap, making her hands stop button smashing her keyboard angrily.
"Oh hey Garf"
User: Omg he's so cute 😭🥲
User1: Give me the baby. Now.
User2: Bro how did he get in here, didn't Ellie shut her door?
User3: Garf? As in garfield?
Ellie's hands grasped the cat turning him in a Simba like fashion towards the camera.
"This is Garfield, if you couldn't tell he has a super power to walk through walls" she joked, obviously realising that her chat was curious about how he got into the enclosed office.
User 4: He's fat
"Do not talk to my child that way." She snapped sarcastically, covering his ears with her palms "he's plump." She corrected before letting out a breathy laugh.
The cat began purring incredibly loudly, now laying across her keyboard vibrating the desk with every exhale of breath.
She picked up her phone discreetly, texting you a quick.
Ells: Gonna have to gaslight my chat into thinking our cat can phase through walls now.
Ells: Oh the things I do for you
You: He was being so annoying thoughhh
Ells: Garf is never annoying, he is perfect in everyway. You're just in denial.
You :🙄
User5: nah but how did it get in
User6: Ghostcat?!?!?
"Yes this is my ghost cat, it seems like he's going to chill with us for a bit.... Aren't you baby~?" she cooes at the purring creature scratching underneath his chin.
Just outside the closed office door, you were pacing back and forth. Shit... Why the fuck did you let the cat in her room, that was the stupidest shit you've ever done. Now everyone was going to know Ellie lived with someone. Then maybe they'll investigate, because some of her fans might be nutjobs. What if they dig something embarrassing up of you?!?
"shit, shit ,shit, shit, idiot, idiot, fucking idiot." Damn you and you're soft heart when it comes to cats.
"Y/N. Just forget it happened, go to bed sleep it off, yeah let's just... Sleep it off..." You mutter to yourself, sulking off to bed in defeat.
•••••
"Hey... Hey baby... Wake upppppp~~" she whines squishing your cheeks with her hand, stirring from your slumber. "Hmm hi Ells..."
At the confirmation you were awake she started peppering your face with kisses. "I made you coffee, I tried to make pancakes but I uh burnt them, so ughh toast?!" She smiles suspiciously giddy.
"oh thank you baby," you murmur back, slowly sitting up, back against the bed's backboard and begining to sip your coffee.
"I don't know how you can stomach that liquid, it tastes like shit."
"It is gross, but I can't physically function without it" you looked over at her, she was showing you puppy eyes. Suspicious.
"What did you do ells...?" You sighed
"Last night I may or may not have accidentally let it slip that uhh, I had a uh girlfriend." She stammered, smiling sheepishly at you " And I was wondering and you can obviously say no!! Like no pressure at all, but I was wondering if you feel ready yet to be introduced by my stream" she rushed out words practically incoherent, and if you didn't know her so we'll you wouldn't have been able to understand.
"you can even bring Garfield with you for emotional support!" She chirped happily.
"I don't know baby... I don't know if they'll like me, all my friends know me for being awkward on camera."
"Listen to me right now. You are the most amazing, beautiful, funny, charismatic and smartest girlfriend, person and mother to our fur baby to ever exist. If they don't absolutely love you then they're blind and have no taste. But they will absolutely love you! Because I love you!" She says enthusiastically, a stupid smile spread on her face as she wraps her arms around you, placing sloppy kisses onto your cheek.
"Pfft" you say, her enthusiasm and happiness seeping from her into yours "okay, I can do that...I think" "You will!!! You'll do amazing!" She squeals "I'm so excited!"
"Gosh, your like a puppy Ells" you chuckle, petting and playing with her hair. She let out a quiet 'hmph' as she nuzzled into your neck happily.
•••••
It was 6:55pm, Ellie had started her stream, the words 'STARTING SOON' sprawled across the monitor, blocking out the view of the viewers, It was unnerving, siting Infront of a camera, and one push of a button hundreds of people would see you. Ellie was sat next to you, swiveling on the dark blue gaming chair absentmindedly.
"y'know baby, you don't have to be so rigid, or quiet, they can't see or hear you yet."
"I can't do it Ells..." You mumbled out. "Hey babe, you absolutely can." she reassured you grabbing your hand, and squeezing it slightly. "How about this. You sit on the couch, out of view with Garfield, and once I've done the intro you can come say hi. Hows that sound?" She asked softly, tucking your hair behind your ear.
Nodding in conformation you shuffled out of view for the camera sitting next to your curled up cat, petting him as he purred loudly, pushing up against your palm. You tapped your phone screen, it lit up revealing the photo of you and Ellie in a photo booth on your first date to an arcade.
Infront of your smiling faces, the time was shown.

"Hey guysssss!"
It took ten minutes for Ellie to finish the introduction, answering questions, thanking donators and talking to moderators.
"Right so, before we start I have a suprise for you guys" she spoke happily, eyes flicking towards you expectantly. You picked up Garfield, your heart immediately slowed and cradled him like a baby in your arms as you entered the frame.
Ellie had moved the extra chair from the frame, trying to keep the suprise as unexpected as she could for her chat. You stood somewhat awkwardly for a second or two saying a quick "hi" to the camera, you looked at Ellie eyes slightly wide with nerves.
She pats her thigh, gesturing you to sit down. "This chat, is my girlfriend"
User7: I ❤️ lesbians
User8: Ugh I'm jealous.
User9: Is Ur gf single?
User10: forget Ellie I want her gf 🤤
Your eyes everted the chat, trying to focus solely on your cat and to not read the comments, when a robotic voice, you recognized as a donators announcement, caught you off guard.
User11 donated $25 'Bro she's so pretty.'
"Oh um thanks *user11*" you hummed. "Told you they would like you" Ellie said, smirking in content.
"shut up."
"never."

You'd basically begged your dad to let you come with you, despite being 23 years old, Joel still very much babied you. You sometimes wondered if he still thought of you as the same person that you had been at the start of the apocalypse, an innocent child entirely dependent on her father - He made you think that he couldn't come to terms that you had grown up in this world, having had your entire childhood robbed from you. But if you were being totally honest, you didn't really know anything other than this world, and that's why you thought you bonded with Ellie so well, thinking of her as your younger sister - A bittersweet thought for Joel, since you were a younger sister, even though you had no older sister anymore and were now older than her, it was funny, you were now older than your older sister. He liked to think you and Sarah would share the same bond at that age that you and Ellie do now, even as adults.
You looked over to the bed Ellie lay in as you heard her giggle to herself - That stupid joke book, you thought to yourself, but hey, it was the little things in this world. She looked over at you.
"Hey, do you wanna hear a joke?" She asked you. You turned over on your other side to look at Ellie and nodded, knowing that you didn't really have a choice in the matter. "Okay, Why did the scarecrow get a promotion?" She started.
"I don't know, why did the scarecrow get a promotion?" You amused her. Ellie giggled to herself before continuing on with her joke.
"Because he was outstanding in his field," You shook your head as Ellie continued giggling. There was something oddly comforting in her jokes, they reminded you of the ones your dad used to tell you when you were little when he was trying to get a smile out of you when you were grumpy. "Your dad doesn't find my jokes funny." Ellie whined. You laughed and shook your head, laying on your back.
"To be fair, your jokes are pretty bad," You broke the devastating news to her, hearing Ellie gasp, and you smiled in amusement.
"I, am gonna go to sleep now and pretend that you didn't say that," Ellie told you. "Goodnight, traitor." She said, trying to sound as offended as she possibly could.
"Goodnight, Ellie," You told her. You tried to go to sleep but felt a settling unease in your stomach that you couldn't explain. You knew you could never shake off your gut feeling, which was why you couldn't sleep. You couldn't seem to switch off, your brain running at a mile a minute, unable to shake off the unease settling in your stomach. The day had gone too well, considering your dad's reunion with your uncle Tommy had gone to plan, there hadn't been some catastrophic fuck up at all during the day, somehow unsettling you. Then came a thud from the front door. Quietly, you crept down the hallway towards the door, your body and breath shaking with each step you took. Another thud. This time, you didn't know if it was coming from the door or your heart thumping in your chest.
Thud.
Crash.
Before you had any time to think, a runner came launching through where the door once stood on its hinges, then sprinting towards you. You screamed out for your dad before being body slammed to the ground by the runner, trying your best to fend it off and protect yourself from being bitten.
"Dad!" You screamed out, fear evidently clear in your voice. Joel woke up at your screaming, immediately reaching for his gun as he ran out of bed and to the room that you and Ellie were sharing, where the aforementioned girl lay sound asleep. Running down the stairs, Joel found you fighting for your life. Without hesitation, Joel fired two shots into the back of the runner’s head. You quickly shoved the body off of you and scrambled to your feet, running to your dad and wrapping your arms around him. Joel let out a sigh of relief as he held you.
"It's okay, look at me, Y/N," Joel demanded softly. You met your father’s worried eyes with your tear-clouded ones. "Did it bite you?" He asked you, in a serious, yet comforting tone. You shook your head in response, rubbing your eyes of tears. It went quiet for a minute, only for it to be replaced by that terrifying clicking sound. More gunshots went off. Bang. Bang. It didn't matter how many times you experienced a hoard of infected, the fallout never ceased to terrify you. Joel knew that, feeling that your breathing had become quick and shallow. "Okay, go and get Ellie, we need to get out of here, okay?" Joel had both hands on your shoulders, looking you in the eyes. This was when he remembered that you deep down, were still a scared little girl.
"Okay," You said quietly, your voice trembling as you looked out of the front door, more gunshots ringing off in the distance. You went back upstairs to wake Ellie up, giving her a gentle shake at first. "Ellie come on, we need to go," You told her. She groaned in response, turning to her other side. "Ellie, I'm being serious. There are runners everywhere." Suddenly, the girl found the energy to get out of bed, quickly jumping into her shoes and slinging her red zipper on. You both ran down the stairs and out of the house, into the open air where herds of the infected runners overtook the commune. You looked around frantically for your dad or uncle Tommy, sighing in defeat when you found neither, deciding to quickly grab Ellie's hand and make a run for one of the trucks you could both take refuge in until it blew over. However, on yours and Ellie's beeline to the row of trucks, you heard one last gunshot ring out.
You stopped dead in your tracks. Everything had gone silent, but then it all came back, the blood rushing to your ears, Ellie yelling out for your dad, your dad calling out your name. You didn't know why, had something happened? Was there something behind you? And then you realized, the blissful unawareness of the gaping hole in your stomach dissipated, and was now replaced with excruciating pain.
"Joel!" Ellie cried out, her eyes filling with tears as she watched you collapse onto your back, hyperventilating as you clutched at your bloodied stomach. "Hurry!" She cried panickily, kneeling beside you. Joel came running over, skidding onto his knees beside you.
No, no, no! Sh-sh-sh-sh, okay, you're okay. Y-You're okay, move your hand, baby. Move your hand.
Memories of your sister’s death came flooding back to him, only it was you in the exact same position, 20 years later.
"Y/N, hey, come on, it's okay, look at me," Joel said loudly over your hyperventilating. "I need to pick you up baby, you're gonna be okay," He promised you, putting his arms under you, wincing as you cried out in pain.
I know, baby, I know, I know, I know, I know! I know it hurts. All right. Don't look down, look up, look up. Come on, baby. You're okay, you're okay…
You continued crying in pain as Joel ran back to the house, carrying you in his now blood-soaked shirt. You'd gone pale, shaking as you grasped at your dad's shirt. Tommy followed in suit as you were taken back to the house that the three of you had been allowed to stay in for the night before continuing your trail to finding the fireflies. Tommy swiped everything off of the table so Joel could lay you down on it. The commune's doctor came in with a first aid kit, rushing over to you.
"I need everyone out," She said, looking at your dad, Tommy, and Ellie. Joel wanted to scream at her. No. He wouldn't leave you alone. "Now, please, or she's going to die." The three had never left a room so quickly, but for Joel, everything was going in slow motion.
"I know, I know, I know, I know, baby. I know, I know! I know this hurts. You're gonna be okay. All right… Baby, baby, baby, listen to me—I gotta get you up, okay? I gotta get you up. All right? You c'mon. You c'mon."
You grabbed his arm the same way that she did - as if it were the only thing keeping you alive at that very moment. Joel sat down on the stairs, dropping his head into his hands, leaving Tommy and Ellie clueless about what to do. Tommy knew what Joel was thinking, he still remembered the night of the outbreak, remembered holding you, only 2 years old at the time - 4 days shy of your 3rd birthday - as your sister slowly died in your father’s arms.
She continually gasped, both for air and in pain as Joel tried to pick her up.
"I know, baby! No, no. I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know! Tommy, help me!"
Tommy watched on helplessly, holding an increasingly distressed you. Although you weren't quite old enough to comprehend what was going on, you knew it wasn't good - You could hear your sister crying and gasping, but Tommy held you chest to chest, you didn't need to see what was going on.
"Joel," Tommy said tearfully, looking over at his oldest brother and oldest niece, who now lay limp in her father’s arms. Joel looked back to his oldest daughter.
"C'mon, baby girl. C'mon, baby girl, I gotta get you up. C'mon! C'mon, we'll get up! C'mon, baby girl, wake up! C'mon… come—please," Joel gave up begging, collapsing to his knees in tears. Tommy put a hand on his brother’s shoulder, and it was then that Joel realized how distressed you were. "Give her here," Joel sniffled, rubbing his eyes and nose as he held his arms out for you. He held you close as you continued sobbing.
"Daddy," You cried, clinging to your father as though he was your lifeline. He put his hand on your back, trying not to let the tears in his eyes spill over as he rubbed your back.
"It's okay baby girl, daddy's here, I've got you," He assured you, sensing your fear. "It's all gonna be okay baby girl, I promise." Joel didn't know who he was assuring, him or yourself.
The tension was thick was the commune nurse came out of the dining room, coated in a layer of your blood. She made eye contact with Joel, remorse written on her face.
Oh, no.
You had ended up staying longer in Wyoming than the three of you had hoped for, but there was no way it could have been prevented, given that you had been put on ordered bedrest for at least 3 days, but Joel had made you do 4 - Just in case, he had said. Ellie had been more clingy with you than usual, which had reminded you that despite how hardened she liked to act, that she was still only a child who had been unfortunate enough to be born into this world.
You knew the night had been traumatic for your dad, resurfacing painful memories of Sarah's death, you didn't know if your dad would have recovered if he would have lost you in the same way he had lost her. Joel sighed as he watched you limp into the kitchen, holding your stomach as you did.
"Good morning," You said quietly, hobbling over to the chair so you could sit down. Joel shook his head at you and handed you a glass of water, and your last antibiotic. "Thanks." You popped the pill into your mouth and took a swig of water, then swallowing both.
"You're supposed to be in bed," He gently scolded you. "Another day resting won't kill you." He said. You sighed and shook your head, you knew why he was being like this, he just didn't want to lose you, he had already lost so much to this apocalypse.
"Dad, I'm fine, honestly," You assured him, looking up at him as he leaned against the kitchen counter. "Just still a bit sore." You said, rubbing your stomach as you moved. You had to be careful of how you moved, just in case you tore your stitches.
"Please go back to bed, baby," Joel pleaded with you. You knew he wouldn't relent in trying to get you back onto bed rest, you sighed in defeat and nodded. "Thank you, do you need me to carry you up the stairs?" He asked you. You blushed in embarrassment as you nodded - what 23-year-old still needed her dad to carry her to bed? Well, obviously you did since your large intestine had a slight tear in it. You whimpered slightly as he picked you up, and you saw the guilt immediately flood onto your dad’s face.
"'M fine," You mumbled, holding onto him as he carried you up to his bed. You didn't question it, but accepted it for you were in need of some comfort, and if sleeping in your dad’s bed gave you it, then so be it. You saw an amused smile on his face as you looked up at him, quirking a brow in confusion. “What?”                                                                                                                               "What's' Forrest Gump's password?" He asked you, a small smile on his face.
"Huh?" You asked, confused at who this Forrest Gump character was.
"1Forrest1," He finished. Then you realized - Ellie's jokebook, and how he used to tell you dad jokes when you were sad to try and cheer you up. You giggled at the joke as you looked at your dad. "You have no clue who that is, do you?" Joel asked you, laughing as you did.
"Not one at all, old man."

As he walked through the barren wasteland, he could feel the all-too-familiar sense of desolation wash over him. The air is thin and icy, hurting his lungs as he inhales. The only sound that can be heard is the howl of the wind and the crunch of fresh snow under his tired, heavy footsteps.
Moving further down the dirt road, he can see the outline of the dilapidated farm house where he left Ellie watching over you. Its walls crumbled, the roof caved in, the windows shattered, and the once-blue front door hung loosely on its rusted hinges.
Inside, the scene was just as bleak. The remaining furniture was overturned and broken, thanks to raiders tearing their way through any property they came across.
The walls were peeling and covered from floor to ceiling in a thick coat of dirt and grime. A heavy layer of dust had settled over everything in sight.
Moving further into the house, he makes his way to the barricade he had put in place before he left you and Ellie this morning to look for more supplies and any medication he could get his hands on.
"Ellie?" He huffs out to let her know it is him moving the barricade as he leans his weight on one side of the heavy mahogany book shelf, sliding it along the dingy wooden floor to reveal the doorway.
"Joel? Did you find anything?" Ellie's pleading voice is muffled from behind the closed door.
Opening the door, he finds Ellie in the exact spot he had left her several hours before, sitting on her knees beside the filthy matteress he had laid you on what felt like a lifetime ago.
She was hunched over you with an old rag in her hand, mopping up the sweat that was beading on your forehead. He could see the worry etched onto her face as she did everything she could to keep you comfortable. She looks up at him as he enters, her face grim.
"How is she?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. It wasn't that he didn't want to disturb you; he just wasn't sure he could stop his voice from breaking if he spoke any louder.
Ellie shook her head. "She's still unconscious, but I think her fever has gone down a bit and the wound isn't bleeding anymore."
Tumblr media
Joel just nods, his eyes fixed on you. Seeing you lying there so helpless and vulnerable, like a ghost of your usual bubbly, sarcastic self, the ever-present crease between your brows was gone; your teeth were no longer fussing at your bottom lip; your smart mouth was no longer calling him out on his bullshit; and your face was pallid and covered in a sheen of sweat.
The sight stirred up a storm of emotions within him that he couldn't quite put a name to. Joel knew that he had always been drawn to you, even before the attack.
Though he would never admit it and always did his best to hide it. He couldn't place what it was about you that brought him out of himself, despite his best efforts to keep you at arm's length.
He had vowed to himself that he would never get attached to anyone again. Not after what happened to Sarah.
It wasn't that he didn't want to care about people, but he has learned that in this world, caring for people only brings pain, and he just didn't know if he could survive another loss.
He almost didn't survive it the first time. The faint scar on his temple is a constant reminder of the events he has drank himself into oblivion over on many occasions in the hopes of scarring them from his memory, but it never works.
Though Ellie had always ribbed him when she caught him watching you from a distance, usually when youd set up camp for the night and you were rolling out your sleeping bag or flipping through one of the books you had picked up on the road.
She would jab him in the ribs with her elblow, uttering "Eh? Eh?" with a wiggle of her fair eyebrows. He normally silences her quickly with a stern warning glance, worried you might overhear her.
Now, though, his feelings were more intense, and he didn't know if it was because he was too tired to keep up the effort to hide them or that the fear of losing you was overpowering every other thought that raced through his head.
His mind was consumed by guilt; he had failed. Again. He had failed Sarah. He had failed Ellie over and over, and now he has failed you. Failed to protect you from the man coming at you from behind because he was too fucking old and deaf to hear him coming.
Tumblr media
He couldn't fathom why you both had insisted on staying with him when you had both overheard him speaking to Tommy. It was the first time Joel had opened up in what felt like two decades.
He openly admitted to his brother that he knew he was going to get you both killed. He begged Tommy to take Ellie the rest of the way, and he knew that you wouldn't leave her side.
He remembers standing in the stables thirty minutes after he had intended on leaving, pretending to check over the horses saddle and reins, when Ellie walked in, closely followed by you and Tommy.
He offered you both a choice, insisting you would be better off with Tommy. He didn't even make it through his sentence before Ellie was thrusting her pack into his chest, effectively silencing him.
You had given him a reassuring smile and a small nod as you moved to help Ellie onto the horse. And now here you are in front of him, lying lifeless on a soiled mattress in the dead of winter in the middle of nowhere because of him.
He knelt down beside the mattress and took your hand in his, his thumb rubbing small circles into the clammy back of your hand. Motioning to Ellie to pass him his pack, Joel opens it and takes out the supplies he found on his run.
"I found a drug store; it was mostly picked over, but I found this under one of the cabinates." He explains, lifting out a vile of pennicilin and a syringe that is still safely housed in its unopened sterile packaging. He says a silent prayer of thanks to whatever higher power allowed him to find this.
Tumblr media
Ellie just nods, her eyes glued to Joel's hands, watching as he takes hold of your hand, turning it so it is palm-up as he rolls your sleeve up past the crease of your elbow, removing his belt and tightening it around your arm.
Tapping at the viens in the crease of your arm but getting no response, you had lost so much blood from the wound that your viens were refusing to stand to attention.
Joel doesn't want to risk injuring a vein, so he decides to inject you directly into your wound. He removes the belt, throwing it to the side, rolls your sleeve back down, and sets your hand back by your side.
"Ellie, Im going to need your help." He murmurs to her, his voice thick with emotion.
"What do you need me to do?" she implores him.
"I can't find a vein; she's lost too much blood, so I'm going to have to put it into the wound. It's going to be painful, but we don't have another option. I need you to hold her still no matter what, okay?" Joel demanded it as calmly as he could.
"Okay, I can do that," Ellie confided, her voice wobbling with the unshed tears that were threatening to spill over at any moment.
"Hey, she's going to make it; she's going to be okay," Joel promises her, his hand coming up to rest on her cheek, wiping away a tear that was making its way down her cheek.
Ellie just nods in response, her tears flowing freely now. Joel pulls the blanket down and gently rolls your t-shirt up your torso, stopping at your ribcage. Removing the bloodied gauze that was covering the wound just above your left hip.
The wound was deep and had left a jagged, misshaped circle of angry crimson on your otherwise smooth, perfect skin.
He tore open the plastic wrapping and removed the syringe from its packaging, taking a deep breath before inserting the needle into the vein and withdrawing the medication.
Tumblr media
"Okay, hold her still," Joel says, his voice unsteady as he positions the needle over your wound, placing his other hand on your cheek and rubbing his thumb back and forth, willing you to hear him before he continues.
"Darlin, I'm sorry. This is going to hurt, okay? But it's going to help, I promise."
Ellie nods towards him, signaling she was ready; she has repositioned herself at your head, her hands resting on your shoulders, and tightens her hold on you as Joel inserts the needle and slowly pushes his thumb down on the plunger.
You flinch and groan in pain, but Ellie holds you steady, tears flowing down her face and leaving little dark spots where they land on the mattress.
Finally, Joel withdraws the needle and sets it back inside the packaging in an attempt to keep it as sterile as possible given the current surroundings.
He grabs another patch of gauze from his pack and presses it against the wound. He pulls your shirt down and lays the blanket back over you, tucking you in as best he can, being careful not to jostle you too much.
"That's it, sweetheart," he whispers, his voice gentle as he strokes your hair. "Now we wait," he sighs, more to himself than anyone else.
Joel and Ellie sit in silence for a few minutes, each lost in their own thoughts, exchanging worried glances, unsure of what the future holds.
Despite the uncertainty, Joel is determined to do everything he can to keep you safe and help you recover. He holds your hand tightly, and his thumb continues to rub small, reassuring circles into the back of your hand as he silently vows to protect you at all costs.
As the moments tick by, Ellie's anxiety grows with each shallow breath you take. She feels helpless and scared, unsure if you will make it through the night.
The weight of potentially losing another person she cares about is too much, and she breaks. Loud, ragged sobs break through her clenched teeth, shaking her small frame.
Tumblr media
Joel's eyes snap up at the sudden sound, and he can feel his heart constricting at the sight of her tears. He releases your hand, pulling her into a tight embrace. He strokes her hair, whispering words of comfort in her ear as she cries into his chest.
"Hey, hey, it's okay, baby girl," Joel murmurs softly. "We're here for her. We're not going to leave her. We're going to get through this together."
Ellie clings to Joel tightly, her body wracked with sobs as she tries to process her emotions. She's scared of losing you and of what will happen if you don't make it. Joel's presence and his words provide some solace, giving her a glimmer of hope that things might be okay.
The three of you stay like that for what feels like hours, huddled together in the dimming light, listening to the sounds of your breathing.
It's a comfort to hear the sound even out ever so slightly and to know that you're fighting to stay alive as hard as they are to keep you with them.
Eventually, Ellie pulls away from him, wiping her eyes on the sleeve of her coat. She looks over at you, still sleeping on the matteress, and takes a deep breath.
"We're going to make it through this, right?" She asks, her voice wavering slightly.
"We are," Joel replies firmly, his gaze locked on you. "I'll do whatever it takes to keep you both safe."
Ellie nods, a look of determination taking over her face. She moves back to your side, taking your hand in hers and squeezing firmly.
"We're here; we're not going anywhere."
The hours passed by slowly; it was well past dark now and getting colder. Looking over at Ellie, Joel can see she is fighting to keep her eyes open.
"You need to get some rest; I'll stay up with her." He murmurs; his tone is serious, and she doesn't bother to argue with him.
"Okay, but you'll wake me if anything changes." Ellie pushed, not moving a muscle until she had his word.
"I will," he whispered solemnly.
Tumblr media
Ellie stood and stretched for the first time in hours, grabbing her pack and unrolling her sleeping bag a few feet away from where Joel sat by your mattress.
She was so exhausted from the stress of the current situation that sleep found her quickly. In a matter of minutes, Joel could hear her soft snores.
Joel shifted into a more comfortable position beside you, stretching himself out on the floor so he was lying on his side, his head level with your own.
He reclaimed your hand in his. It was cold and limp, and he couldn't help but think about how much he had taken you for granted.
He has known that you were strong enough to handle anything that came your way and that you didn't need anyone's help. But now, as he looked at your pale face, he realised that it was ridiculous to think that anyone could have made it out of that situation in any other way.
He leans in close, his forehead resting against your hand, his eyes closed. "I'm sorry," he whispered. "I'm so sorry. I should have heard him. I should have protected you." His voice broke, and he struggled to hold back the tears that threatened to spill over.
There was a long moment of silence, broken only by your steady breathing, Ellie's snores, and the occasional creak of the old farmhouse. Joel stayed there, still holding your hand, lost in his thoughts. He thought about all the things he wanted to say to you and all the things he wished he had done differently.
He wished he had been more open with you and told you how much you meant to him. He wished he had hugged you and spent more time just being with you.
It was too late for those regrets now. All he could do was sit there, holding your hand or stroking your hair. Willing you to wake up and hoping that somehow, someway, you would pull through. That you would come back to him, and he could make things right.
As he sat watching the steady rise and fall of your chest. Joel knew that nothing would ever be the same again. That he would never be able to erase these memories and that he would always carry this pain with him.
But he also knew that he couldn't give up, that he had to keep fighting and keep pushing forward. For you. For Ellie. For himself.
And so he sat there, stroking your hair and whispering all the things he should have told you before, waiting for a miracle.

My Pretty Girl
Tumblr media
Ellie Williams x Reader
Let’s not address the two year hiatus. Go lesbians!!
Explicit Content ahead!
Warnings: Profanity, Blood, idk if this counts as gore?? Thigh riding (the briefest mention) and Ellie being hot.
~
A groan escaped you as Ellie helped you into the bathroom, the blood from the gash on your side soaking through your shirt. You could feel the warmth of the liquid paint your hand, leaking between your fingers and dripping down the front of you. You groaned again out of annoyance, looking down at the mess and now soiled clothing.
Ellie was seemingly unphased by the amount of blood, her eyes coming to look up at you as she assessed how much pain you were in. You smiled at her sheepishly, silently preparing to be chewed out by her yet again. But instead of giving you an earful, she helped you lug yourself into the bathroom, the girl stumbling for a second before effectively maneuvering you onto the sink.
You let out a sigh, leaning your head back to rest against the mirror which rattled at the impact. You heaved a sigh, the sound coming out as more of a wheeze when you cringed at the sharp pain that shot up your side. Ellie was still scarily quiet as she took off her bag and fished out some stitching and bandages. You shook your head, eyes trailing from the bandages to her unrelenting eyes, reaching out to push the supplies away. “Don’t waste them on me, I don’t need them.” You said, pressing your hand further into your side to counteract the blood leaking from your stomach.
Her hand wrapped around your wrist, gripping it tightly. “You don’t get to decide what I do with my supplies.” She said, fighting your grip off the items. You shot her a look “Well technically, I found them, s-“ She cut you off.
“Shut the fuck up and take off your shirt.”
The better part of you wanted to save them for sometime when you would most definitely need them more than now. But the tiny selfish part in the back of your brain was screaming, begging to let her stitch you up. Partly because getting stabbed hurts like a bitch, mostly because a deep primal part of you screamed out for Ellie to touch you.
You sighed, watching her as you debated if it was worth the fight. “We don’t have all day.” She said, tilting her head at you expectantly. You rolled your eyes, finally giving in as you stripped off your soaked shirt, muttering curses as you pulled it up and over you, dropping it to the floor. Ellie ignored your incessant cussing, stepping between your legs as she threaded the stitching through the needle. You swallowed thickly, your anxiety getting the better of you as you waited for her to start.
You let out a cry when the needle pierced your skin, your hand flying up to grab her shoulder in a desperate attempt to ground yourself. You shook as she continued to work, the girl rushing through the task when she felt your nails bite into her shoulder.
Your hand fell back to the sink once she finished, the porcelain doing nothing to help the dizziness plaguing your mind or how your body trembled in the aftershock. Her hands came to cup your cheeks, forcing your eyes to focus on her. “Breathe, the worst parts over.” She spoke softly, smoothing her thumbs over your cheeks. You breathed deep, focusing on the way her thumbs swept across your cheeks as you grunted softly.  She waited for you to catch your breath, watching you while you calmed down from the ordeal.
She pats your thigh twice when your breathing evens out, reaching over to grab the bandages she set beside you. “Took it like a champ.” She complimented, and you laughed softly, smiling at her despite the fatigue that started to settle in your bones. “Well anything less and I think you might’ve slapped me with how ready you were to tear my head off.” You joked, watching as she unravelled the bandages.
“I might’ve if you kept fighting me.” You gasped, a hand flying up to your chest in mock offense, the action staining your chest crimson. You cringed, the tacky feeling of the half-dried liquid making you want to gag. Ellie noticed, shaking her head as she watched you hold your hand out in disgust. She took your wrist gently, bringing her shirt up as she started to wipe your hand off.
“You gonna enjoy that blood on your shirt?” You asked sarcastically. She cracked a smile at your words “Yep, gonna tell everyone how a pretty girl let me stitch her up.” Her eyes flicked up to yours, looking at you intently before flicking back down to your now cleaned hand.
Despite your now stitched up wound, the butterflies in your stomach were seemingly unphased, Ellie’s words causing you to swallow thickly. You examined her for a moment, how her breathing seemed to be  elevated, how her hands shook slightly as she picked up the bandages yet again. “You think I’m pretty?” You asked breathily as she fiddled with the bandages.
Ellie’s eyes met yours for a brief moment, flicking down back to her handywork when she saw how intently you stared at her. “Always have.” She stated with a teasing lilt, pressing the end of the bandages into your stomach so she could begin wrapping it. You pressed your head into the mirror, closing your eyes as you tried to process her words, your heart beating wildly in your ears. You felt Ellie’s fingers brush against you as she delicately wrapped the bandages around you, her breath fanning over your neck at the close proximity between you two. You felt her tie off the bandages, her hands settling on your sides. You let out a shaky breath, eyes coming down to lock with hers.
You were surprised to see her looking back at you, your face only inches apart. “Not too tight?” She asked in a whisper. You shook your head slightly, letting out a noise of disagreement. You could feel her shift on her feet, effectively closing the space between you even more as her body pressed against yours. She paused for a second, her hands feeling like they were burning through the bandages. You felt her grip tighten, her eyes flicking down to your lips. Your hands came up to settle over hers, the tension in the air causing you to seek out any part of her she would allow. She let out a puff of air, seemingly contemplating something before she broke.
“Fuck it.”
You felt her hand wind itself into your hair before your lips collided with hers, your back colliding with the mirror as she pushed you further on to the sink. You felt a fire spark to life inside you at the first touch of her lips, the feel of her against you making you moan into her mouth. She pressed against you harder at the sound, bringing her hands down to pull you in by the hips.
Your head jerked back when she pulled your hair, the stinging in your scalp forcing a whimper from you as she planted feverish kisses along your throat. “Ellie-“ You rasped, breathless and needy from her kisses. Your pleas were interrupted when she pressed her thigh in between your own, the action forcing your hips to buck up against her. She let out a curse, looking back up at you to take a look at your disheveled appearance, memorizing the way your hands smoothed over her skin and the way your eyes were glossed over with desperation.
“No one told you to stop.” Your words seemed to surprise Ellie, the girl pausing before an amused smile made its way onto her features.
“Just admiring my pretty girl.”

teenage dream
ellie williams x reader
cw : fluff, suggestive content at the end !
a/n : this has been sitting for awhile ,, but i really think the idea is cute so if it’s dumb pls just be nice, i had the idea while looking around in spencers and seeing a little dino piercing jewelry.🙏🏻 also this gif is so funny to me.
wc : 1.3k
Tumblr media
“C’mon, It doesn’t even hurt that bad. Just one time, please? It’ll be so cute, I promise.” Dina’s voice begged as you stood idly by the door, shying away from the idea of the girl getting anywhere near you with a needle. It had been a week since she’d found the kit, tucked comfortably under a bed in an old apartment the two of you had scouted. Hence it had also been a week since you’d gotten any peace and quiet about the situation. She’d convinced almost everyone to get a piercing (or two in Ellie’s case) and you were the last of her victims, all she had to do was convince you.
Dina already had the kit out on her desk, needles, and jewelry packaged up in plastic awaiting to be of use. Her hands glided over the different piercing jewelry, moving them to be in piles of likeness. “I think you’d look really nice with a nose piercing! Oh, or maybe a tongue piercing!” She gushed, eyes lingering on your face as she debated more ways to get you on board.
“I don’t know, Dina. I’m not sure if I want to have metal in my face, at least right now. You know how Joel is, he’s still upset about Ellie’s.. what did you call them?” You paused, looking over to the girl as you shifted from foot to foot.
She smiled, shrugging. “Snake bites, and who cares? It’s your body, but also you don’t have to get one on your face. There are also body piercings.” She explained, grabbing a folded paper from the top of the box, and unfolding it to display a dozen small diagrams of different body piercing placements. “See? You could totally get a navel piercing or something, Joel would never know.”
“Navel piercing? My belly button?” You asked, lifting your shirt gingerly to glance at the thing before looking back over to Dina. As much as you didn’t want to get in trouble with Joel because you already knew he would find out off the bat due to Dina’s rambling, it peaked your attention, to say the least.
Dina nodded gingerly, moving to pick up the jewelry options for the navel, whilst there weren't many- and most weren’t meant to be worn until healed, she displayed the options before you on the surface of her desk. “It would look really cute, I mean look at these options. Butterfly, heart-shaped, pink di-,” She paused, hand lingering over the last one as she pushed it towards you.
As you picked it up you realized why she had reacted in such a way. It was a pink dinosaur on a plastic piercing. It aroused a giggle to fall from your lips, thinking of the people who would’ve worn something like this in the old world. “This is so fucking cute, Ellie would love it.” You stated, turning it in your fingers as you fought internally over whether to trust Dina with a needle or pass up the opportunity to surprise Ellie with something so comically small (but you knew she’d love.)
“Soooo?” She drew out, hands clasped together in a pleading manner over her chest. “Is this a yes?”
Why the fuck not?
“Yes, okay. I’ll do it.” You agreed, shrugging off your jacket. “Don’t fuck it up though, okay?”
“Sir yes sir.”
╰╮later
God, piercings were a pain in your ass. It had stayed sore for the first couple of days and now, it had calmed down enough to show to your girl- but she’d been called early that morning for a double on patrol and as much as you hated the fact, it gave you a reasonable amount of time to get ready to see her when she came home.
“Fuck, how did they even use these?” You cursed, battling with the curling wand you held like a weapon. It had already given you a couple of mild burns before you called it quits, slamming it down on the counter angrily as you peered in the mirror. You’d somehow managed to curl most of it before giving up ultimately. At least it looked presentable, right?
You wandered through the house, touching up tiny details of cleaning you’d missed. If anyone saw you right now, you’d look absolutely insane. Dressed in the slip Ellie loved so much, hair curled, hell you were even wearing a little makeup. In the apocalypse nonetheless, you were a crazy person, no fighting the label now as you wasted what some outside of Jackson would consider ‘valuable resources’ on your menial attempt at surprising your girlfriend.
The sound of the doorknob caught your attention, shocking you into movement as you took your place on the arm of the couch- leaning against it so you’d be the first thing she’d see when she came in. Your heart began to pick up the pace, nervous with anticipation. What if she didn’t like it? What if she was upset that you didn’t tell her?
“Babe?” Ellie called out, turning to close and lock the door as she came in just missing the sight of you by a couple seconds.
You stifled a nervous giggle, quietly responding. “Over here, honey.”
The woman turned on her heel, mouth already uptick in a small smile before she realized just what she was looking at. She halted in awe, taking in the sight of you. It was always so flattering when Ellie noticed the little things, like how the slip draped over your frame just right or how you’d used the tinted chapstick to give your lips a rosy hue. That’s how she showed she cared, by noticing the little details that perhaps even you didn’t realize.
“Oh, my god.” She breathed, dropping her bag on the floor next to the door before moving into the living room gingerly. “What’s the occasion, babe?” It wasn’t your anniversary or her birthday, so her mind was spinning with ways to account for the absolutely delicious sight of you.
You shrugged, “Oh nothing, just wanted to surprise you.” Lying directly through your teeth you checked the first box off of your list, heading directly for the second. Distract and seduce, easy enough, right?
Ellie took half a second to come inches before you, hands automatically gravitating towards your waist, feeling the soft silk under her calloused hands. She sighed in delight, eyes skimming down your body before she landed in a tiny bulge pressing the fabric forward. That was definitely not there before, right? She knew your body, every curve and ridge from years of exploration and this was definitely new. “What’s this?” She asked, tilting her head in confusion as she pulled at the slip gently, coaxing it up towards your thighs.
You giggled, pulling your lip between your teeth as you nodded at her to continue searching. You felt beyond giddy, anticipating that little face she made when she got excited. You felt like a little kid again, sharing a secret with a friend.
She got the fabric bunched in her hands, finally pulling it over your navel before she gasped- her mouth falling into an ‘o’ shape as she gawked at the tiny piece of jewelry in your tummy. “Oh my god! No way!” She choked out, a hand immediately going to toy with it before she halted her actions- remembering Dina’s incredibly strict set of rules about piercings. “It's so cute, why didn’t you tell me?”
“And ruin the surprise? No way!” You smiled, eyes grazing over her blushed cheeks as she kept staring at the jewelry in awe. God, you loved her. “Seeing you all surprised was so worth it.”
“You’re such a dream.” Ellie sighed, letting the slip fall back down to its original length, dipping down to press a gentle kiss to your lips. She absolutely couldn't imagine a better surprise, though at this second she was thinking of a few surprises she could give you- looking so delectable she couldn’t help herself, deepening the kiss as you felt the balls of her piercing press into the warm skin of your bottom lip. “Let me show you how much I love it.”

Joel Miller x reader
Platonic!Ellie Miller x reader

A/n: I found time to write! I think maybe reader talks too much in this idk. If I missed any warnings please lmk!!
“Stay in here.” Joel orders Ellie harshly before closing the door most of the way behind him, leaving her in the deserted home’s living room before turning to you, standing in the middle of the bedroom. He glowers.
“That was some bullshit, back there.” He keeps his voice low but hides none of the venom. “Ellie fucked that up.”
“We got caught by surprise. It happens. Don’t blame her for it.”
“I’m blamin’ her for it, I’m blamin’ her for reactin’ too fuckin’ slow. She coulda got you killed.”
“I was fine. I handled it.”
“Yeah, thank god you got enough sense to raise a fuckin’ gun when there’s five fuckin’ Infected runnin’ at ya.” He snaps.
“Joel, stop. I’m not gonna take your shit for this. And I’m not gonna let you talk about her like this.”
“I’m not talkin’ shit, I’m talkin’ to you about what happened.”
“I know what happened.” You raise your voice briefly before regaining control, “We got caught with our pants down, and she didn’t do you what you thought she should have, which y—”
“What I thought she should do?” Joel screws his face up, “Warnin’ us isn’t what I think she shoulda done, it’s what you fuckin’ do. We can’t protect her if she keeps doin’ stupid shit like that.”
“Hey.” You snap, a glare pinning up your face. You understand where he’s coming from, but anger is intoxicating his point. Ellie made a simple mistake that, admittedly, did put you in danger, but it was nothing major and nothing you couldn’t handle. A revealing fact here is that before Joel grabbed his gun to shoot, he had grabbed Ellie to pull her out of the way from the Infected that were barreling down the hall towards you. You took all but one out, the last one shot down by Joel when it was only a few feet away from being on top of you. Yes, a terrifying ordeal, but not more than anything you’ve seen before. You had barely thought about Ellie’s failure to react, but apparently, it was tearing Joel up. In his mind, he probably watched you die, and he wanted something to blame, and after himself, it had landed on Ellie. “Get a fucking hold of yourself.” You continue, “None of that was her fault. You can’t blame her for it. Joel, she’s just a kid.”
He doesn’t miss a beat, shooting back fiercely, “You think I don’t know that? You think I don’t look at her an’ see anything else?” Joel huffs, a fearful breath, thinking back on the scene. You catch a sadness in his eyes before he sharpens, “Well she needs to grow the fuck up. World ain’t got room for kid shit. She needs to learn how to fuckin’ handle it. Cause it ain’t changin’ for her.”
“That’s not what I’m saying. Just give her a break.” You try, then realizing that your choice of words isn’t going to work out.
“Give her a break? Are you listenin’ to me? There are no breaks. It’s only gonna get fucking’ worse.” He snarls, then breaths in through his nose and turns his back to you.
Right as he whirls back around, shoving his finger out towards you, Ellie speaks from behind the cracked door, “Are we staying or are we going? Cause it’s getting dark.”
Looking in her direction, Joel’s body relaxes, but not from a sudden peace falling over him. He puts his hands on his hips and looks down, shifting a knee out. Then he looks up at you and says monotonously, “Stayin. We’ll start back out in the mornin’. Stay with her in here. I’ll take first watch on the couch, wake you up in a few hours.”
Ellie pulls the door open but stays where she is in the entrance, an intense frown hardened on her face. “You could have at least closed the fucking door if didn’t want me to hear that.”
Realization cuts open Joel’s face but he doesn’t say a word. You can see his breathing stop, but then he switches back, “Nothin’ you shouldn’t be hearin’ anyway.” He moves towards her to leave, but her feet stay planted.
“You think I don’t already know all of that?” Her eyes narrow, “I’m not fucking stupid.” She glares at you now, “And I never asked for any breaks. The only thing I’ve asked for is a fucking gun.” Her eyes shoot daggers back at Joel, “And you were the one that didn’t want to give me one.”
“That’s cause you don’t know how to use one. You think FEDRA can teach you how to do anythin’ right? They’re not out here, they’ve kept you sheltered in their—”
“Sheltered?” Ellie cuts in, “I was not fucking sheltered. Just because I wasn’t out here doesn’t mean I’ve lived some nice, happy life.”
Joel stabs back, “Comparatively, yeah, it does.”
“No, it doesn’t. Some FEDRA guard wasn’t tucking me in at night. You think they took care of us there? All they did was make sure we didn’t fucking starve and try to turn us into soldiers to fight their fucking war. That’s all I was ever taught. You think just because I was locked in some diet prison I haven’t seen shit? I watched my best friend die.” She spits. “I was born into a shit world and I’m gonna die in a shit world. Just like she did.” Ellie blinks and grinds her jaw.
Joel stands frozen for a silent moment. Then he speaks, “Good, so you know what to expect.” And almost shoves his shoulder into her as he slips out.
Ellie stares at the wall across from her, hand still on the doorknob.
“Ellie,” you say quietly, moving towards her, but stop in your tracks when she meets your eyes with an icy glare.
“You don’t have to baby me.”
“I wasn’t trying to—”
“You’re not my fucking mom, you know.”
It hits you like a bat to your chest, knocking hot tears up to your eyes, but you swallow them down.
“I know that.”
“Do you though?” She says as she walks quickly to the bed, swinging the door closed behind her, and sits down, gaze locked on the floor with her arms crossed over her stomach.
“Ellie—”
“Can you just leave me alone for a minute?” She keeps her voice as even as she can, but her eyes glisten with tears.
“No, I—”
“I’ll be fine for one minute, ok? Just, give me one fucking minute by myself.”
You sigh through your nose, considering. Your instinct wants to keep you here, keep your eyes on her, but you want to grant her some space, too. She really hasn’t gotten a minute alone in you don’t even know how long, probably ever since you met her.
“Ok.” You answer finally, and walk to the door, closing it softly behind you.
Joel sits with his head in his hands on the couch, rifle resting on the coffee table before him.
“Joel—”
“Don’t start.” He says without looking at you.
Tired of being shut down and still burned by Ellie’s words, you do anyway.
“Look. She’s right. She was born in a shit world, and she’s experienced that in her own right.”
“She hasn’t experienced shit.”
“Yes, she has!” You exclaim, but try to keep your voice down for her sake. “Just because it’s not what you have, doesn’t mean it can just be dismissed. She deserves some respect. She’s been out here with us this whole time. We’ve all gone through all of this together, not just you.”
Joel shoots up and glares at you, “I’ve been out here longer than both of you combined. We might have been together”—the word is audibly poisoned with disgust—“for a few weeks, but we are not the same. You have no idea what I’ve seen, what I’ve done.”
“Yes, I do.”
“No the fuck you don’t.” Joel’s eyes narrow, “You should be fuckin’ afraid a me.” He growls, expression grim, but in his eyes you can see his affliction. Though his broad shoulder can tense and he can lean in with those teeth, looking like he’s about to jump on you, those animalistic traits ingrained in his skin only go that far. “I’m a fuckin’ monster.” Joel says. ‘Monster’ is a word, despite the world, you’ve never heard him use. It comes out like a snarl, he’s only trying to convince you of it. Joel is playing up his guise, though you’re not sure if it comes from within him, by his own making, or something that was forced on him. It’s like a tattoo, his front. But did he hold the needle, or was he gripping the dirt while the world forced the ink into his skin? Either way, you know it’s not him. All you can see is the man underneath, gripping tight the hide of a wolf to hide the vulnerability of his bare skin underneath.
Yes, he is capable of monstrous sins—they’re embedded in his skin and his mind, but in more tender moments, when he’s shed his skin, if those moments have been impulsive or not, he’s told you that he’s only done what he’s had to do. Joel is a survivor. It’s almost all he does. Yes, it’s like a tattoo, ones that he looks down at every day, ones he sees scrawled all over his face whenever he catches his reflections.
But you’ve seen him, whether he’s shown you on purpose or not.
Monster—out of everything you’ve ever encountered, that’s the word he uses to describe himself?
All of it makes you want to cry.
“I don’t buy it.” You state.
Joel huffs a breath, then takes a step back, retreating. Confusion lines his still harshly pinched brows.
“You don’t buy it?”
“No, I don’t.” You approach a step, attempting gentleness, “Joel, I know the things you’ve done—”
“Do you, though? You think you know me? You think in a year you know everythin’ about me? About who I am? Fuck you, you don’t buy it.” Joel narrows his eyes again and holds up two almost pinched fingers, “You’ve seen a sliver of what I’ve done.” Then he takes a quick step forward, holding his hands out, splayed before you palms down. “Look at my hands. These are the hands of a fuckin’ murderer. Look at my fuckin’ knuckles. Scars over fuckin’ scars. I've broken this hand more than once from beatin’ people. I’m fuckin’ deaf cause a how many people I’ve shot. Maybe I wasn't born one. Maybe. But I sure as hell am one now.”
Staring at his hands, you will the tears back, then meet his eyes again and raise your voice, “You are not the only one who’s gone through shit, who's done shit. I have my own scars. If you’re a monster, I’m one, too. And you know what,” you throw your hands up, “fuck it, fine. Who the fuck isn’t then? Didn’t Tommy used to ride with you? What, he sat behind while you did everything? No, I don’t think so. He must be a monster too then, huh?”
“Don’t you go twistin’ my words—”
“I’m not twisting shit. I’m just using your fucked up logic. I’m trying to show you that you’re wrong. Now, answer me. Am I a monster?” You lean in and harden your eyes. “Am I?”
The look Joel gives you shows you that you’ve intimidated him just as much as you aimed for. “No.” He answers quietly, colored with a tinge of shame, but he keeps fury painted over his face. “You’re right, you’re not like me.” Before he can launch into another speech about how horrible he’s convinced he is, you interrupt him, absolutely fed up with it, “Shut the fuck up Joel. Stop saying that. Stop separating yourself from everyone, you don’t have to do that. Stop punishing yourself. You've done what you've had to do. Just like the rest of us. You know that, I know that. You’re a protector. And I’ve seen monster’s eyes—you don’t have them.” You take another step towards him, “You don’t scare me. You’re not a monster, you’re a man, who’s desperate, who’s hurting, who regrets it all, who hates himself for what he’s had to do. And I’m sorry, Joel, I’m so sorry.”
At your last words, his face suddenly changes. Perplexion swings over his brow, a last ditch throw of intimidation, but then it relaxes. His shoulders slouch, his frame almost hanging. When the facade breaks, he just looks fucking exhausted. Then something new from him, an expression you haven’t seen.
Joel cracks, and starts to cry. He shields his eyes with his hand but his shoulders shake and you hear the cries escape from rickety jaws.
“Joel,” you rush to him, instantly wrapping your arms around his shoulders. He nearly collapses into your hold, heavy in his fall from the wolf’s hide. You hook your hands under his arms and he lets you guide him to the couch. He flumps down on it, and though he still has his hand over his eyes, his other arm goes around your shoulder. You pull yourself close, moving your head under his arm to rest your cheek against his shoulder. You don’t know what to say—‘It’s alright,’ ‘It’s okay’, isn’t true. None of this is that. This is tragedy.
He whimpers in his shakes, sobs escaping in quick breathes. For a while, all you do is hold each other. Then, he finally takes his hand away from his face and embraces you, tears seeping through your shirt to wet your neck and shoulder where he buries his head. He clutches at you, constricting your chest, but you don’t move.
“I’m so tired.” Joel says quietly in between the sobs he still attempts to restrain. You try to cry as quietly as you can.
“I know you are.”
“It hurts.” He whimpers. Then, “I miss her.” With that erupts one solid sob before he hitches them back down into his throat.
You want to say you know, but you can’t understand his pain, only your own. You think of Sarah, Tess, and the hundreds more you never knew, that he inevitably loved, and lost.
“I’m so sorry.” You say again, unable to find anything else to describe how you feel.
Joel’s weeping shakes his breaths until they eventually subside into shudders, then into deep ones. His emancipated weight hung around you almost makes you think he’s asleep, but then he shifts to sit again, shoulders slouched with his hands supporting him on the couch. He sniffles and wipes his hands over his eyes and cheeks.
You quickly wipe away your own tears, sniffle, swallow, and then start, “Listen,” he turns his head to you with heartbreaking eyes, big and deep and dark, his brow furrowed. It’s amazing, the contrast he claims in his expressions. He can turn his face into one of a wolf, but when he relaxes and lets it slip away, he looks like one of those dogs you used to see in ASPCA ads. You feel the corner of your lip tug with a laugh but reign it in. Taking a deep breath instead, you run your hand over his cheek, pulling him to face you more, and brush your thumb over a damp spot on his cheek.
Joel’s soul is tender and scared and strong and brimming with rich love. What holds it in is scarred and sooty and rough, but it’s not ugly. Joel is a rose, thorns hooked into your skin when you hold him.
You speak softly. “You’re not a monster. And you’re not a tool, either. You’re a tragedy, because I know how much you love. This world isn’t built for you. And you can’t build yourself around it. It won’t work, it’s not you. It’s all just…” you look up, sighing and shaking your head, “misfortune.” When you look back at him, you meet desperate eyes and have to take another deep breath. Defenseless in his eyes, you simply speak your mind, the the words falling out of you, “Sometimes it just feels like some fucked up story. I don’t know what the moral is yet. Maybe just that… you know, you have to keep loving. It’s not like we really have a choice. I mean, that’s apparent enough. I know you would choose not to if you could, but then… what’s the point? You can’t kill yourself. God wouldn’t let you even when you tried. And I think I know why. I think it’s because you’re supposed to keep loving. I think that’s your role. I think it’s my role. Maybe it's hers, too.” You cock your head to the door Ellie’s hopefully but probably not sleeping behind.
“I’m not good at lovin’.” Joel shakes his head, still cupped by your hand.
“No, you’re too good at loving.”
“Well you’re right, I wish I did’n’.”
“Well, you have people that love you. And they need you to. Tommy needs you to. I need you to. She needs you to. Even if she never tells you that, she does.”
“You think…” Joel whispers, “she loves me?”
“I know she does.” You whisper back, stroking your thumb over his cheek.
He looks down and sighs through his nose. His lips start to move, but he falters. Without him needed to, you know what he wants to say: I love her, too.
Tucking the hair from the side of his face behind his ear, you sigh, feeling indebted just to knowing him.
“I’ll take first watch.” You tell him, looking over his face. “You should go stay with her.”
Meeting your eyes again, he says quietly, “I wanna stay with you.” His claim is flattering, but you know he’s just too scared to look at her now. Guilt, fear, haunting grief.
“Alright, well, I’ll come with you then. It’d be better if we’re all together.”
“Ok.” His voice is soft and tired and as are his eyes, resting on your lips before coming back to your eyes.
You get up first and he grunts to his feet. They scuff on the floor and then he pauses, blinking sleepiness. You offer your hand out, and without looking at you, he takes it weakly. You give it a quick squeeze before turning the knob and taking him into the bedroom.
Joel kept the wolf’s hide tight around him for a long time, you never would have known how soft he really is, you could have never imagined him looking like he does in this moment now. It shocked you the first time you saw it, back in the QZ when you both had a very close call outside the walls. You knew you were in love with him already but at that moment, watching his eyes soften, you felt yourself fall farther, and that night as you laid together, his own heart laying bare next to yours, you knew you were his, and he was yours. Something like holding your hand like this, letting himself follow your lead, is some proof of it.
When you enter the bedroom, Ellie, lying with her legs curled with her back facing you, shifts to look at you. You smile softly, and then her eyes shift to Joel behind you. You let go of his hand and stop to turn to him. Joel keeps his eyes on the ground, swallows, and then says wetly, “I’m sorry.”
“It’s ok.” Ellie replies quietly, and then shifts her body to lie facing you, legs still curled.
You look back at Joel, “C’mere.” And go to sit with your back against the bed.
Joel’s eyes flip briefly to Ellie before he gives in on the floor next to you. You fold your legs and then pat your thigh for him to lay his head on. He indulges, settling in, folding his hands between bent knees with his shoulder meeting the curve of your leg.
“Thank you.” He murmurs. Within minutes, he’s asleep, lips parted with soft and even breaths, head heavy on your thigh.
The hours before your shift’s up are silent and still, save for Joel’s sleeping breathes, blowing quietly through his parted lips.
At some point, his hand had shifted to over your knee. You squeeze it gently to wake him up just before you can feel yourself start to nod off. Joel’s eyes shoot open when you do, and he awkwardly raises himself to a half sitting, half lying position, rapidly blinking himself back to consciousness.
“Your turn.” You whisper, combing your fingers through his hair, sticking up from how it pressed on your leg.
He clears his throat, “Alright.” Then laboriously raises himself to his feet with a pained groan. Standing, he combs his own hand through his hair, still blinking himself awake. “Shit, I left my gun out there.”
“Don’t worry, all quiet.”
“Well you shoulda gone an’ got it.”
“I still have mine right here,” you pat your hip, “besides, I didn’t wanna wake you up. If there was any noise at all, I would have.”
He hikes up his jeans, “Well… just wake me up next time.”
“But you look so pretty when you’re sleeping. I wouldn’t have woken you up at all but I’m starting to feel my eyes close.”
He almost succeeds at hiding a smile. “You need your sleep, too, angel.” He sniffs and looks back towards the door. “Alright… I gotta take a piss. Grab my gun, an’ I’ll be right back.” He turns his head back to trail his eyes over Ellie. After a moment, Joel sniffs again and then starts for the door.
Once he’s out of sight, you sigh, rubbing your hands over your face, and turn to look at the young girl curled up on the bed. You notice, though, that she’s only pretending to sleep.
When she slowly blinks her eyes open, you catch her and ask, “How long have you been awake?”
Eyes still mostly squinted, she answers softly, “Not long.”
“Did he wake you up?” You whisper.
“Yeah, don’t tell him though.”
“I won’t.” You smile at her again.
You just look at each other for a while, you simply appreciating this moment with little Ellie safe and sound.
“Do you wanna… sleep in the bed? Instead of the floor?” She sleepily asks eventually.
Your first thought is no, that’s all for you, but there are words between the lines that you catch onto.
“Sure.” You shift to your feet, and Ellie turns her back to you.
She’s really not all that hard to read. This is a request and an apology, and you oblige and don’t need to forgive as you crawl onto the bed next to her.
“Don’t you wanna get under the blankets?” You whisper. She looks back up at you, pauses, and then nods. Ellie’s shyness comes out in moments like these, when she’s too sleepy for sarcasm or lies.
She half sits, shifting up for you to slip the covers from under her and lift them up and then slide in next to her, pulling them over the two of you.
Then you’re simply laying together, eyes wandering over each other’s features.
“I’m sorry. For earlier.” Ellie breaks the silence.
“Already forgiven.”
“I didn’t mean it.”
Whatever this specifically relates to is unimportant, so you stay silent, but you move your hand over hers resting on the bed between you.
“It’s alright, Ellie.”
When her eyes start to glisten, you’re caught off guard, and your heart crashes to the ground. She pulls her hand out from under yours to rub at her eyes. She keeps rubbing as she sniffles, and a whimper slips out as she says again, “I’m sorry.”
Automatically, your hand goes to stoke over her hair. The words slip out, “No, baby, it’s ok,” and you’re instantly worried that you’ve crossed a line, but she doesn’t flinch, just keeps her hands over her eyes. So, as she shakes a sob that escapes through clenched teeth, you continue petting her hair. “I’m not mad at you. It’s ok.”
Her breathing is shaky and cut by hiccups but she tries her best to recover quickly. When she takes her hand away from her face, she still tries to hide her eyes by flicking her eyes down and back to yours before finally allowing herself to meet your gaze. You smooth your hand over her hair a few more times before laying your hand down on the bed. Then, she surprises you again by taking it in hers, not breaking your gaze.
“Don’t worry about it, Ellie.” You whisper. “You were dealt a shitty hand. I don’t expect you to be calm and collected about it all the time.” She sniffles and blinks. “And I’m sorry if you felt like I was trying to say you can’t handle yourself. I know you can. I just wish you didn’t have to… be treated like an adult. It’s unfair. You deserve to be able to act like a kid. You can, you know, you have, and it’s not a bad thing. You’re fourteen. Fourteen sucks without having to deal with a fucking apocalypse.” This gets a small giggle out of her, and she sniffles again.
“What was fourteen like before?” She asks.
You sigh, looking at the wall while you think of a general answer. “Hormones, confusion, middle school, where you have to deal with other kids hormones and confusion… arguing with your parents, kind of realizing they’re also just… people. It’s stressful.” You look back at her, “Not like this, though. This is a different kind of stress. This isn’t something any kid should ever experience. I mean, adults too, no one should have to deal with any of this. But kids especially. You… you’re strong. You’re tough. You’re very… durable.” You both giggle lightly. “But you shouldn’t have to be as tough as you are. I think you’re kickass.” Again, you both smile a half giggle. “I have a lot of respect for you, Ellie. I want you to know that. I’m very proud of you.”
Ellie’s brow pulls in but then releases, and she breathes in deeply. She bites her lip.
Just then, you hear the door open and Joel step into the room. She closes her eyes but keeps hold of your hand. Joel’s steps pause and he sighs. Then you feel the bed shift under his weight as he sits down behind you.
“She asleep?” He whispers.
“Yeah.” You lie, keeping her eye on her, knowing that it will give him the chance to do whatever he wouldn’t do if he knew she would know.
Proving you right, you watch as his hand comes over to stroke Ellie’s hair. Then, the bed shifts again and Joel replaces his hand with a soft kiss over her hair. When he moves back up, you feel his hand over your shoulder, and then his lips on your temple.
Joel doesn’t talk much, he’s always been someone that speaks through his actions. The words that betray his lips come through through his arm thrown over your chest in the presence of danger, his keen finger on a trigger, and through gentle touch like this.
You lay in bed with two unfortunate souls, both too soft for their own good in a world that demands too little of it. But through the sorrow comes some kind of unfathomable gratitude for their presence, their unbelievable strength, but also the disloyalty of the human spirit to the deadening of the heart. The world today is dissonance, a cataclysm of the heart.
Grief sings its tune in a cacophony of Joel and Ellie but you listen with open ears and an open heart. The refrain is the question of how anything could make any of this worth it, and the bridge is moments like these. Spoken, unspoken, thought, felt, Joel, Ellie, and you, a song of love and loss, a melodic fight between the head and heart and soul recorded in time. You provide the chorus that they dare not sing, but the needle over the track falls under Joel’s fingers in Ellie’s hair, his lips on your skin, and the melody lulls you to sleep.

I believe wholeheartedly Ellie would love Instagram (maybe VSCO and BeReal too)
She would constantly post pictures of her and her friends (usually during a smoke/drink sesh) and/or of her guitar or tattoos.
She would do those camera roll dumps every once in a while too.
She wouldn't be addicted to social media but rather enjoys taking pictures/having pictures to look back on.
Her captions would be the most unhinged things ever. Weird facts she learned, rants, thoughts, the weirdest things.

Ellie Williams Headcanons: Delinquent!Ellie
Reader and Ellie are both 18, but are still in high school ❤️
My Masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You're parents did NOT like Ellie.
They told you she was a 'bad influence', and you couldn't argue because well, she was.
You met via a classic cliché. Ellie was failing English and due to you being the top English student in your year/ class.
And well ta-da, now you tutor Ellie.
Ellie was a stubborn little shit when it came to studying. At the beginning, she never turned up on time and didn't pay attention to what you were saying, distracted by your 'pretty face', as she put it.
You'd been going over the same basic principle with Ellie over and over again. It was getting tiring.
"Ellie, I swear to God, I'm going to slap you if you don't start focusing"
"oh~ don't hit me princess. Wouldn't want you to mess up your pretty little manicure." She smirked.
"Don't try me Williams"
Ellie loves walking you to your lessons. Her class could be on the other side of the school she'd still walk you there. (Not that she goes to her classes)
Loves walking around hand In hand with you.
You bite her. Idk you just definitely seem like the type of person to just nibble on delinquent!Ellie out of love ❤️.
"Ow!" Ellie yelled pulling her arm away from you quickly. "The fuck was that! Did you just fucking bite me!"
"Yes."
"And why did you do that?!"
"Cause I love you"
"You bit me because you love me?"
"Yes."
"Jesus Christ."
Comes over to your house just to distract you from your homework.
Sits you on her lap all the time. You always have a seat when she's around <33
Imagine her picking you up for a date in her rust bucket car lmao.
Gentlewoman of the year award goes to delinquent!Ellie. This woman knows how to give respect.
So so so protective.
Is a dude bothering you? He's out cold on the floor before you can even blink.
Movie nights in with her 😍
Cute pet names include "Princess, sweetheart, pretty, doll face"
Annoying pet names include: "Ankle biter (bcuz she says your short), ass hole"
You call her with her last name when you're annoyed at her.
You are her prized possession, everyone knows that your hers and she's yours.
Having matching jewelry with her, a bracelet, necklace, rings. Especially one with eachother's names engraved in them 💕

My Masterlist
You knew why Ellie wasn't talking to you - You had lied to her, betraying the trust that was crucial in your relationship; You had a feeling you deserved it, but you did what you did to protect her, to save your at the time 'best friend'.
You panted as you ran through the hospital, clutching your gun tightly as your feet smacked off of the linoleum flooring, the flashing red lights illuminating the halls of St Mary's hospital. Following the trail of bodies left by your dad, you made your way up to the room where they were operating on your best friend, deciding to take the backdoor, you nudged it open, just as your dad did at the door opposite you.
"Unhook her." Your dad demanded, aiming his gun at the surgeon in front of him. You looked over, noticing Ellie lying on the operating table, various machines beeping beside her, all sorts of wires coming in and out of her.
"No, I won't let you take her," The surgeon said to your father. No. You couldn't let this happen, you wouldn't let them take away your best friend, not today, not ever. Acting quickly, you shot the two nurses standing beside you in the chests, swiftly jumping to your feet from your crouching position. The surgeon had no time to react before you fired a shell into his head - Joel looked over at you, you couldn't tell if he was scared of you, or for you.
"Dad," Joel hugged you wordlessly, placing his chin on the crown of your head for a minute before turning to Ellie. "What do we do now?" You looked up at him, fear evident in your eyes. Joel sighed, looking at Ellie and then at you.
"We leave, go back to Jackson and stay with Tommy," You nodded, however, you couldn't ignore the feeling of guilt which bubbled in your stomach - the emotion was obviously clear on your face, since you could make out from the little light provided in the room. "We tell her that there were other's like her, okay? Now come on, we need to move. You shoot if you have to, understand?" You mulled the thought over and nodded, you hoped that you'd never crack if Ellie asked you - As bad as it sounded, some memory loss at this moment in time didn't actually sound too bad. It didn't make sense, you had come all this way for nothing - You watched your mother die for nothing, watched as Sam and Henry both died, been through the whole David situation with Ellie, had that all been in vain?
Sighing, you followed your dad - Just as you knew that you always would.
"Ellie, come on," You followed your girlfriend as she grabbed her stuff from your room, shoving it into her backpack harshly. She had found out about the hospital and what you and Joel had done. "I don't know what you want me to say, Els." She huffed, stopping shoving things into her bag as she stared you down.
"You lied to me, Y/N. You fucking lied to me," She spat. You looked away from you, unable to meet her harsh gaze, which you ultimately knew you were deserving of. "I don't know if I can ever forgive you, or your dad. I don't wanna talk to you for the time being, understood?" You nodded, tears filling your eyes as you looked away from her.
"Okay," Your voice broke as you spoke, still unable to watch as Ellie made her way out of your room. "I love you." You told her, your heart breaking as she just walked away wordlessly. You sighed in acceptance, realising that you had fucked up majorly this time. You watched through your window, making sure that Ellie got away safely.
In the days after, you noticed Ellie getting closer with her friend Dina, who you knew had recently broken up with her boyfriend, Jesse. Dina was gorgeous, and you saw the way that Ellie looked at her, she used to look at you the same way. But you and Ellie hadn't officially broken up, and you knew that Ellie wouldn't cheat on you, right? Maybe, not so right - Joel had dragged you to the small gathering in the church, which unbeknownst to him, Jesse, Ellie and Dina were attending.
"Dad, this is so stupid, I'm fine," You tried to convince him, furrowing your eyebrows and pouting as your dad chuckled.
"You haven't left the house in 4 days, you needed air and to talk to other people," Joel smiled, trying to get you to reciprocate the gesture - It however, didn't happen, since you were focused on the fact that Ellie and Dina were now locking lips - Thanks to Ellie's initiation.
So, this was why she had been ignoring you for the past 4 days. She had been planning her relationship with Dina? Your mind spiralled, had she been with Dina the whole time? Were you the other girl? Did she ever actually love you? Your stomach dropped, your heart cracking in two as the two girls pulled apart, you put your drink down on the table beside your dad, Joel looking over and realising what had upset you so much. "Baby girl." He called out for you, watching as you left the church. Ellie and Dina looked over to the doors which you stormed out of, and then looked over to Joel as he came over to them.
Joel loved Ellie as if she were one of his own - but you were his baby girl, and he couldn't stand by and let Ellie get away with hurting you like that.
"What?" Ellie asked him, her tone as if she were offended by Joel's very presence. Joel scoffed and raised his eyebrows at the girls audacity.
"Seriously? You do this to Y/N and you have the audacity to act like this? I know that you're not happy with her, but you never broke up with Y/N," Joel seethed. Dina excused herself and made her way back over to Jesse, who walked away from her - their relationship, similar to yours and Ellie's, had barely ended, and now she was here kissing Ellie. "I thought you were better than that." This time it was Ellie who scoffed, shaking her head at Joel.
"Really? That's really fucking ironic, Joel, since all you and Y/N did was lie to me for 5 years. I thought you were better than that," She spat. Joel sighed, he thought Ellie was being too harsh on you. You were still a child at the time, you just wanted to do good by your best friend and your father, you did what you did to protect Ellie just as he did - But he would take all of Ellie's anger towards you and take it himself, he would do it to see you happy with her again, but after this, he was unsure if he would be able to see you happy again. Joel shook his head and walked away from Ellie, saying goodbye to Tommy and Maria, and that you and him would see Tommy tomorrow for your patrol.
You grunted as you were thrown to the floor, your dad and uncle Tommy forced into the same position as you. The room was cold and dark, illuminated only by the soft white glow of the falling snow outside - You looked up at the girl in front of you, she couldn't have been much older than you were, but she was taller, more muscular. She looked down at you, anger in her eyes as she met yours but quickly looked away, making her way over to your dad, who sat by the window, a torniquet around his leg.
"Joel Miller," She seethed, crouching down in front of Joel.
Oh.
Oh, fuck. You knew this girl - She was in the hospital when you rescued Ellie, you heard her crying out for your father when you were clearing out the floor for supplies, which you had insisted on doing since you were the smallest and quietest, meaning you were less likely to get caught - Her dad was the surgeon you had killed. Your breathing picked up as you saw her pick up a golf club and inspect it, looking at it and then at your dad.
"Stop! I know why you're doing this," You called out, all eyes turning to you. "I killed your father in that hospital, not my dad." You told her. Joel's heart stopped - Were you trying to get yourself killed?
"Get her over here, get him down there." Abby demanded. You struggled and grunted as you were picked up by two strong men.
"Don't you fucking touch her!" Joel yelled out as he was held down, watching as you were punched in the face, near enough knocking you out. Heaving, Abby turned to Joel, looking down at him with the same golf club still in your hands. "I'll kill you if you lay a fucking hand on her, you hear?!"
"You don't get to rush this, old man," She said through gritted teeth, watching as Joel struggled in vain. He watched in trepidation, his heart pounding against his chest, the dull ache in his temple becoming stronger and stronger. He watched as Abby let out a grunt, swinging the golf club down onto your head, cracking it open with a sickening thud.
"No!" Joel cried out, watching as the spray of your blood stained the window behind you and you fell to the ground, groaning quietly. "I'll fucking kill you! I promise!" Joel threatened her, watching as she continuously kicked you in the stomach, then in the head to add insult to the crack in your skull.
Ellie followed the sound of Joel's screaming and threats down the stairs, gently opening the door - Her heart stopping at the sight in front of her. You lay on the ground, your head and face in a pool of your own blood, a woman standing in front of you holding a golf club which Ellie assumed she had used to crack your skull open.
"Y/N?!" She cried out, not caring about the others in the room. Abby turned to look at Ellie, and then looked at her crew.
"Pin her down," She instructed them, turning back to you as you lay on the floor, able to make out the form of Ellie, even as she struggled, you weakly smiled, your shallow breathing being the only sign of your fading life.
"No! Y/N!" Ellie cried out for you. "Y/N, please get up!" She begged, over and over she begged for your life to be spared, just as your father did before Ellie's arrival. "Please, please don't do this." Ellie pleaded with Abby, hoping that the girl would have a last minute change of heart.
But Ellie's hopes were crushed as she watched Abby raise the golf club above her head, and strike it down onto your head, delivering a fatal blow to your skull.
"No!" Ellie and Joel cried out at the same time, both noticing your blood dripping from the golf club. Abby tossed the golf club aside with a huff, sparing a glance at your sobbing father and friend as they made threats to end her life. Tired of what she assumed to be empty threats, she had Owen knock the two out so the group could move out and head off away from the scene, leaving you on the floor to continue bleeding out.
Ellie rubbed her eyes as she lay the flowers down at your headstone, guilt flooding her as she sat down cross-legged in front of your grave. Since your small funeral, Ellie had gone to see you once every day, the first day was when she forgave you for lying to her - She now realised that you were still a kid then, just as she was, you just wanted your dads approval so did whatever he thought was best. She also apologised for the ordeal at the party, but guilt constantly gnawed at her, she hoped that you hadn't died thinking that she didn't love you - Ellie loved you so much, but she was just so angry that it blinded her.
Despite her daily visits, Ellie couldn't find the words to speak to you - She also couldn't face Joel, but no one had seen or heard from him in the days since your death, his grief had consumed him entirely. At least there was one thing that could comfort Joel, that you were back with your mom.

You, Joel, and Ellie had been hiking for hours, doing your best to make it through the densest parts of the forest before losing the light and having to start setting up camp for the evening.
As you trudged along listening to Ellie's endless attempts to make Joel laugh with her awful book of puns. She got him a few times, watching him turn his head the other way, trying to hide his smirk.
Over the last few weeks, you have noticed Joel slowly opening up. He's becoming softer with you both, and the thought sent warmth radiating through your chest.
You tried your best to push your feelings for him to the very recesses of your mind, but somehow they always ended up front and centre when you saw him like this.
It was not exactly what you would call relaxed, but it was as close as he could afford to be given your current circumstances.
As the three of you make your way into a clearing, you and Ellie wander around the small section of forest that isn't completely dominated by trees, always staying within Joel's eyeline as instructed and taking in the scene before you.
You stand in the middle of a lush forest, surrounded by towering trees that seem to stretch endlessly towards the sky. Bright sunlight filters through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the forest floor.
The air around you is warm and fresh, with a gentle breeze rustling the leaves and carrying the scents of pine and earth.
As you look around, you see a carpet of moss and ferns covering the ground, patterned by patches of wildflowers in varying shades of pink, purple, and yellow.
Birds sing sweetly in the distance, while the occasional rustle of leaves betrays the presence of small animals scurrying about their business.
This puts you slightly on edge, but you know that you are too far out for even stray infected to find you here, and you find yourself wishing you could stay in this quiet, secluded place forever.
Though you knew that wasn't possible, with supplies as hard to come by as they are in this hellish world, they are even harder to find in the middle of nowhere with nothing around you for miles.
Tumblr media
As you continue to explore the clearing, you notice Joel watching you from a distance. His gaze lingers on you, and you can feel the heat of his stare setting fire to your skin.
Despite your efforts to keep your feelings for him at bay, you can't help but feel a surge of desire wash over you. You catch his eye, and he gives you a small, lopsided smile, his eyes crinkling at the corners.
Feeling a flutter in your stomach at the sight of him with all his broad shoulders, strong arms, and veined hands that are resting on his hips. You smile back at him, a deep blush creeping across your cheeks.
Ellie's laughter draws your attention, and you turn to see her skipping through a patch of wildflowers, her arms outstretched like the wings of a butterfly. You can't help but feel a twinge of envy at her carefree attitude.
You long for the days when the world was a simpler place and you didn't have to constantly worry about not only your own survival but also that of Joel and Ellie, which you realise is now more important to you than your own.
When you look back at Joel, you see that he is watching her too, locked in a trance with a gleam in his eye you have never seen before, and you feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for his presence in your life.
He has become more than just a partner in survival; he has become a friend and your confidant, and you hoped maybe something more, but that was just a fantasy.
You explore the area surrounding the small clearing and hear a stream babbling somewhere nearby. You glance behind you and see Joel kneeling beside Ellie, teaching her the basics of how to track an animal, showing her the small hoof tracks left in the bracken by their feet.
"I'm just going to scout out this side; I'll shout if I need you, okay?" You call to Joel over your shoulder, hoping he's distracted enough with Ellie to let you out of his sight.
"Okay, but don't go too far. If you hear or see anything, you keep low, keep quiet, and you make it back to us, you hear me?" He instructs you, his voice low and serious; are you imagining the double meaning behind the 'us'? Had he wanted to say, 'Make it back to me'?
You nod your head solemnly at the man whose eyes are currently boring into your soul. Emploring you to be safe, you turn and head towards the sound that promises fresh drinking water.
Tumblr media
As you wander further through the forest and come to a break in the treeline, you stop dead in your tracks.
You're glad that Ellie can't see you; you know she would burst into a fit of laughter if she could see your face, eyes wide and mouth hanging open in a comical 'O' in surprise.
Your brain isn't processing what your eyes are seeing. You blink rapidly to ensure you weren't imagining things from dehydration.
What lay just a few feet before you was not the small stream you were expecting; instead, what lay before you was a river—a large, crystal-clear river.
The water sparkles in the sunlight, and you can see schools of fish darting through the currents. The river looks so inviting, and you can't resist the urge to take a closer look.
You carefully make your way to the edge of the riverbank, marvelling at its sheer size and power. Dipping your fingers in the cool, fresh water, feeling it rush over your heated skin.
For a moment, you forget the current state of the world and just enjoy the simple beauty of nature. You close your eyes and let the sound and feeling wash over you.
You feel a sense of peace that you haven't felt since the world fell to its knees. As you sit by the river, your hand traces patterns on the surface, lost in your thoughts as Joel and Ellie approach behind you.
You don't bother to turn around; you have become well accustomed to the sound of his heavy footsteps.
"You've been gone for a while, and Joel started to get worried, so we came looking for you," Ellie murmured, almost in apology.
"Ellie" Joel sighs out her name in exasperation as if she has just blown his cover.
"What?!" She began. "You were all like." Ellie clears her throat, takes a deep breath and drops her voice a few octaves in order to mock Joel's deep, gravelly tones:
"No, she's been gone too long. Something must have happened. I need to find her." She rolled her eyes at him, shrugging her shoulders as she looked at you for help.
"I appreciate your concern. Joel, really, I do, but look at this," you say, beaming at him and gesturing towards the river. "It's incredible" you breathe.
Joel looks at you, his expression softening. "Yeah, it is," he whispers, his voice full of wonder as he takes in the sight of you.
Ellie is splashing around in the shallow water near the riverbank, her laughter once again filling the air. You decide to throw caution to the wind and join her.
Tumblr media
Dropping your pack and toeing your boots off as you wade into the water after her, Joel watches on from the safety and dryness of the shore, chuckling openly as he watches you flicking water frantically in Ellie's direction.
He watches you both enjoying yourselves in the late afternoon heat as he sits on the edge of the river. Admiring how the water slicks your hair back out of your face and how it leaves your skin shiny and gleaming in the sunlight.
He tries to be subtle about it, glancing away quickly when he thinks you are going to look in his direction and stealing glances at you when your attention is focused on Ellie.
You tried to get him to join you both on multiple occasions; he declined, claiming that "one of us has to be the adult." Your response to that was to childishly splash water in his direction.
Making him turn his head and throw his hands up, hiding his laughter, but despite his efforts, you could see the dimple on his right cheek and his broad shoulders shaking up and down.
You catch his eye, and he looks away quickly, as if he's been caught doing something he shouldn't be doing.
And you can't quell the flutter in your chest at the sight of him watching you. His eyes seem to linger on you longer than usual, and you can't help but wonder what he's thinking.
You wade towards the shore, ready to join him on the bank. But before you can reach him, he steps forward, leans over and playfully shoves you back into the water.
You gasp as the cool water envelops you completely; you're unable to hold back your laughter as you resurface, looking up at Joel with a playful smirk stretching across your dripping face.
He chuckles, eyes crinkling at the corners in the way that makes your heart skip a beat, as he takes you in.
"Sorry about that Darlin, I couldn't help myself," he laughs low in his chest, holding a hand out to help you back onto the shore.
You take his hand, feeling a jolt of electricity as your skin touches his. A rush of excitement courses through you at the proximity of your body so close to his, feeling your cheeks flush with colour.
Tumblr media
As you stand up, you're very aware of how your wet clothes cling to your body, and you feel Joel's eyes on you once again. You turn to face him, feeling a little self-conscious under his gaze.
To your surprise, his expression is soft and heated, and you can tell he's admiring you. A thrill of pleasure races through you at the look on his face, and you can't stop the smile that curls your lips upwards.
For a moment, the two of you just stood there, gazing at each other in the golden sunlight that streaked through the breaks in the canopy above your heads.
The sound of the river and Ellie's laughter fills the air, and you all lose yourselves in this little haven the three of you have created.
Feeling a sense of warmth radiating through your chest and squeezing at your heart for what felt like the millionth time today as you look into Joel's eyes.
You know you will never forget this moment. Enjoying the simple pleasure of being alive, surrounded by nature and the two people you care about most, fills your heart to capacity.
Knowing now that when things get rough, you will have this memory to think back on, things don't seem so unbearable after all.
