Success Magick: weird experiences. Last week I did r2, Clarity. I'm going to be a bit vague (see what I did there? Lol) with this though.

So there's this cute guy at work who's been making eyes at me, and his last name means something really specific in a language close to the culture I'm descended from(second generation). As soon as I found out, I told my younger brother. Now, my family is not full of violent people but it prompted a gut level reaction from my brother (he actually spat over the phone) in which he said "No! No, no, no! Do I have to come up there?! Don't tell him what you are. Please promise me so I don't have to come up there."

Well, I told my dad about this conversation and very seriously he said to me, "We don't forget. That kind of thing always exists under the surface between our people. Your grandfather never trusted me because my people betrayed his people (in a battle -- resulting in a massacre). No, don't give us a reason to come up there, because we will. Some things can never be forgotten, or forgiven."

I was just like... whoa. That's crazy! Cause we are Americans now. I tried to reason with my father, but he would not budge.

How would you describe the basic difference between Solomonic magic and Enochian magic? Also, how are they different in terms of effects of long term practice and the entities you work with in each of them?

They are different approaches to magic and work with different entities. The Goetic spirits are of a different nature to the Enochian angels. Dee would have seen the latter as higher spirits and the Goetia as chthonic spirits or demons. Enochian magic would be seen as invocation, and Goetia is certainly evocation. I realise however, Solomonic does not necessarily equal Goetia I just assume this is what most people mean when they use that term- because it tends to be.

Enochian magic certainly has some Solomonic influences within it, but only at the bare bones structure. For example there is a whole system of planetary and talismanic magick in the Enochian system that seemingly relates to some Solomonic systems.

The bulk of Enochian work that most people utilise is to attain visions and commune with the Angels. Goetia is normally used to accomplish practical tasks.

Enochian Angels are a spirit of their own breed. I cannot liken them to anything else. The Goetia I can liken to chthonic and nature spirits, even to deities at times. I cannot do that with the Enochian angels. Then of course you have different types of Enochian Angel- the Angels of the elements are different to that of the planets are different to that of the governors of the Aethyrs.

Long term use of Enochian? Increased power, increased obsession, possibly increased delusion. I have not worked the system in years, I want to get back into it, but I would want to do so properly with the proper tools.

Solomonic magic, I would say there aren't really long term effects. Perhaps if it is part of your daily magical practice- which for some it is. For me it is not, so I cannot speak on the long term effects. I don't feel it particularly changes you, I feel Enochian certainly can. I feel there is an alchemical nature to the Enochian system, but as for what the end goal of the system and the spirits is- I cannot say.

Vinido bueno! I am Elle (They/them), a Noahide, future Jew, Traditional Demonolator, angelologist and all around occultist. I am a minor, and have been practicing occultism in a variety of forms for roughly four years at the time of writing this (6/7/23). I was raised in a non-denominational and non-spiritual Christian household, however my dad comes from a line of Curanderos. Hearing tales of their craft and speaking to them inspired me to pursue occultism (thanks Titi!). I am half-hispanic, and incredibly proud of my heritage and the culture of which both my dad and mom come from and the unique forms of spirituality developed within these cultures (Appalachian folk magic on my mom’s side, and Curanderismo on my dad’s). I am also incredibly, incredibly queer, I am both non-binary and gay. Through this blog I hope to bring to light the appropriation present in western occultism, and the ways in which one can deappropriate their practice(s) while still having a complete and workable system of magick and spirituality.

Outside of my spiritual life I pursue a variety of hobbies, including writing (obviously because of this blog, but I also write poetry!), singing, theater, and music enthusiasm. I have sung for nine years, and worked in theater (both behind the scenes and on-stage) for six. Over quarantine I made it my goal to develop a decent music taste, and that I believe I did! My absolute favorite artist is Fiona Apple whom I love and adore; some other artists I enjoy include Leith Ross, Beabadoobee, Ani DiFranco, Lizzy McAlpine, Mxmtoon, Boygenius (and all artists of the band independently), Faye Webster, The Smiths, Radiohead, and SO. MANY. MORE. Additionally, I attend an early college program and am currently taking college classes for a Nurse Aid degree; through the program I am able to take non-nurse college classes as well, so I take classes that assist in my religious studies research (sociology, ethics & morals, philosophy, etc.).

My beliefs revolve around Conservative (aka Masorti! Also, conservative used in a Jewish context has nothing to do with political conservatism) Judaism. I believe HaShem has always existed, before human comprehension, and HaShem will exist after human comprehension as well. Other divinities are a result of human comprehension and interpretation of HaShem’s eternal energy. I don’t see anything wrong with people interacting with these divinities. In fact, I interact with divinities other than HaShem; I am a Traditional Demonolator in addition to my Noahidism. The Demonic Divine are incredibly important to my life— I am devoted to Empress Delepitore, the demoness of magick, divination, dreams, and enlightenment. The main way I differentiate myself from non-Noahide Demonolators is that I do not make efforts to worship the demonic divine, I solely work with the demonic. I also research the angelic to a great degree through both enochian and Judaic lenses!

"Reader, we all know the wonders of new-book smell, but there is something about this one that smelt different to me. As I opened the covers, I became aware that I was having an aesthetic experience. Now, I’m no naïf, to go weak at the knees at mere aesthesis. The occult publishing market is well known for producing absolutely beautiful books, after all. But as I began this little book, I felt I was holding something special in this hardback. As I read and came across the reference to it as a psalter, I stopped dead.

Once, long ago, you see, I was a choirboy. Then, I held a lovely but functional psalter, and sang the Psalms. In doing so, I was taking part in a tradition which had existed for thousands of years, raising my voice to call out the words mythically attributed to David. Harpist, giant-slayer, adulterer, King and servant to his God. While modern scholarship disputes this frame, instead attributing the texts to various authors between the fifth and ninth centuries BCE, the fact remains that the Psalms are the words to the instrumental music which lifts the heart and mind, the awareness of divinity, if you like. They are poems designed to evoke and recount those things described; to call and bring them forth as recitations, but also as manifestations brought forth every time they are performed. There have been plenty of books, writings, and practices discussed in many other places about the magical uses of the Psalms – all easily discoverable by a few minutes’ focused internet search – so we shall not dive into that with both feet here. "

With all the different interests I have that fall under the umbrella of High Weirdness it sometimes becomes hard to keep up, to focus on all the topics. I’ve developed an “oohhhh shiny” habit. Sometimes the subject sticks with me, sometimes it doesn’t. But always seem to circle back to it, weeks, months, sometimes years later.

As I amass my Magickal Library (all the while telling my long time wife I’m putting together my future retirement library when I can no longer afford the books) I hope that it will be eclectic enough to cover my future needs.
