Anonymous Letter + Responses

”Hello! Hope you’re doing fine!”

Yello! I’m doing alright! I just checked the askbox and saw this, thought I’d give a few responses and clarify a few things given you went out of your way to type down all this.

“I’m just here to mention how much I love Rupturedtale! Well, I only discovered it yesterday, but it’s been a wild ride since then. I love what you did with the minor characters in the Ruins! I expected Napstablook to launch more self-deprecating non-jokes, but, meh, can’t all show random humans we’re depressed now, can we?”

The stuff with Blook was written a while back and I didn’t really have self-deprecating non-jokes in mind for them. I tend to not touch the stuff in general.

“It’s been an absolute (and delightful) shock when it was revealed the blue voice actually was Toriel. And the mercenaries, though KINNNDDDA annoying at first, became quite eandearing over time. Even though he’s kind of immature and uses bad language at times, I liked some of Madjick’s wording, ‘cause it really showed Monsterkind went through some stuff. I think I teared up when Jack visited Toriel’s bedroom. I didn’t get she actually was in his head yet xD”

Cursing was a bit more prevalent in earlier drafts of the AU, mostly in regards to Jack, given he’s meant to be an outsider and a moody teenager. It was toned down over the years as I’d rather it be used for the more “important” moments.

“Reusing the unused soundtrack “stars” for Knight Knight’s battle made it all the more epic. I really got into it, and kinda got attached to them.”

A lot of AUs tend to use Star for either Chara or Frisk, but given it was meant to be used for Madjick, I decided it’d ultimately be better used for The CORE Mercs instead. Mostly Knight Knight, all things considered. Given she’s kind of tall and imposing.

“Ah. And of course. G R A N D P A.”

Don’t wake him up.

“I must admit I couldn’t quite fathom having a friendly flowey in the beginning. But I came to understand that this was a “failed pacifist ending” and not a “leaderless ending” as I was speculating, which actually allowed what I thought were plotholes to make a lot more sense.”

All I can say without going into spoiler territory is that his behaivour is not without purpose.

“Snowdin, at its beginning, has been a real nightmare. :D Keep in mind I thought this was a leaderless ending. Seeing Sans acting like he did, like nothing changed at all, got me, uh, unbelievably angry.

Then it was made pretty clear a lot changed over time, and I got incredibly sad instead. :D

That talk in Snowdin he’s got with Jack, about hate being a cycle… made me realize he’s got time to carefully mull things over.

And me, I will never get over the fact that he’s now wearing Papyrus’ frigging old fedora. I’ve never seen someone able to reconcile heartwrenching and utterly hilarious so well. xD Fits Sans!”

Sans was kind of a nightmare to figure out how to write given the context of what occured prior to Jack falling down. But like with Flowey, I can tell you his behaivour is not without purpose.

I’m glad you like his fedora. Snowdin in general was meant to showcase various old concepts that didn’t make it into Undertale proper, like the 98 Robots and Papyrus’ old hat.

“THE ROBOT 98. WOW I LOVE THEM?! The Puzzle Punisher or whatever he’s called is by far my favorite I wish Papyrus met him I’m sure they’d find a lotta common ground. Well that’s maybe a lie 'cause my favorite is Ninety, or, since it’s Papyrus’ headcanon, Nintwo. I was very skeptical of him, but then he grew on us, I guess. His theme is awesome and his battle was too, and he and Dodge kind of remind us of Sans and Papyrus, but since they’re taking up their role in Snowdin that’s not much of a surprise. “

I’ve been told a lot of times that the 98 Robots are probably the most iconic thing in this AU, and I am not at all surprised to learn that.

I’m glad you enjoyed them as much as you did. The 98 Puzzle Punisher in particular is the best and most powerful character I have created for this AU. If there is a God out there He trembles in fear every time The 98 Puzzle Punisher is spoken of.

Jokes aside, I do not recall if Ninty and Doge being a bit similar to the brothers was done deliberately or if it was an accident on my part. At the end of the day you will find that they do not share the same ideals as them, which is what matters the most at the end of it.

“Oh my God, Jack crashing on Papyrus’ grave. This absolutely abominable act made my day. This is probably when I truly fell in love with this comic (hence the love letter.)”

“Visiting Sans and only Sans’ house was sad. It’s clean. The kitchen is empty.

That was all very wrong.”

“Oh also, let me tell you how much I love the OST! I already mentioned Knight Knight and 90’s one, which are my favorites, but I’ve gotta say the one that plays during Snowdin area, the “Home Of Papyrus” one, and the remix of Toriel’s OST are also huge hits in my heart at least. “

I’m glad to hear that. The soundtrack for this was something I wanted done for a long while now. You’ll come to find the future tracks even better.

“So. If I got all this right, Asgore is alive. I’m so glad he is, I love him xD I’m also sad because this means he won’t get into Jack’s head -._-. This is crushing all your fan theories that went like : “RupturedTale, the AU where instead of collecting dead human items throughout your journey, you collect dead monsters’ voices in your head.”

I was truly waiting for the point when Toriel, Papyrus, Undyne, Alphys, Mettaton, Asgore would have been commenting Jack’s every move with “helpful” remarks, though….

This sounds like a lightly complicated situation, doesn’t it?”

Having the entire cast of Undertale in my head sounds like a fate worse than death. Imagine the noise.

“Asgore is still in charge, the human attempted a genocide run and got stopped at Undyne, which makes for empty ruins, empty snowdin, and empty waterfall. From there, Undyne could have died alongside the human— but judging by the something’s presence it’s unlikely. Something must have happened, and Undyne got both herself and the human disabled somehow— one of ‘em, Undyne particularly, is probably the something, judging by the fishlike shadow we can see following Jack around. Maybe both of them. I don’t really think determination melts humans, though…..”

If only you knew how bad things really are.

“Obviously, at this point, it’s got pretty clear that what we thought was cold acceptance from Sans is anything but. He wants to “rat out” the something, particularly if it IS the human. He’s going to the extent of looking creepy and trying to “use” Jack to do so. This means it’s more of a priority to him than he lets it show.

Why is that? I couldn’t tell you: Asgore seeks it out too perhaps? …Or maybe he’s got something against this human. (How would I have guessed!)

Or does he simply just want to “see how it all ends?”

That’s some weird, cryptic, mildly concerning sentence. Particularly concerning the double meanings this statement has. That’s our Sans alright.”

You’d find that Jack is someone who, at the end of the day, get things done.

One way or another.

“Anyhow, MTT probably took the place of the CPTN considering his G L A M O U R O U S shows. I wonder what motivated him to expand the royal guard… Alphys’s death? Her connection with Undyne? MTT doesn’t hate Humans in the first place, does he? Is the CPTN actually some other guy?

What’s up with the capital? What’s up with Asgore? Can I hug Asgore? Will Sans ever give me his fedora, I want the same? Will freeing the amalgamates make Doge happy? I love Doggo, did he get a proper grave?”

“What would happen if someone went to Sans and said :

“Hey dude, y’know that human you’re sitting next to?”

“yup, i know him. we met a few hours ago.”

“Well, uh, actually, this guy’s possessed.”

*Sans remebers the time Jack screamed alone in the forest and threw a tantrum for stress relief.

“yeah, i know.”

“Huh, no, for real. There’s two people living in his head.”

“don’ worry, i suspected it went that far.”

“And those people are like, the most important people in your life that just died a few months ago and put you through a tumultuous period of constant changes, depression, and internal crisis. Every time you talk to Jack, they hear.”

“…huh. mind tellin’ me who those two people are?”

“Sans. Your dead brother is living, and talking, and sometimes even stress-cleaning inside the head of this kid that’s currently watching TV right next to you.”

Sans didn’t have much to respond to that. besides maybe, “…”

“And the old lady you spent hours trading jokes with, that just happened to be your closest friend? She’s also living inside this kid’s head.”

Sans looked at Jack’s coconut-sized skull.

“must be crowded in there.” “

That’s a hysterical visual.

Jack and his Monsterkind-shaped head:

“Love your AU!! Awaiting eagerly for the next part, more answers, and Jack’s sweet descent into madness as the voices take up most of his dominant personality. I’m happy each time they talk and give their wonderful advice and opinion.”

Thank you so much. I was delighted seeing this letter and the drawings amidst the sea of pretty silly asks. I hope you don’t mind that I responded to it. I’m truly touched to see someone talk about a story I’ve written like this.

As for the rest of this AU, while things are going to be a little different moving forward, I think you’ll very much enjoy what I have in store next.

Horrortale: technically an alternate timeline instead of au. after a neutral run where undyne's queen the core malfunctions and food becomes scarce and people resort to eating humans because sans suggested it. Aliza is the protag. latest thing that happened in the ongoing comic was Aliza agreeing to go with Papyrus to solve his last puzzle. as for the appearance of sans he has a HUGE hole on his head and a red eye. he got the hole from undyne when she got his magic eye which was going to be used to power the core. sans didnt die tho and killed the guards holding him down and just took whatever eye was on the ground and used it as a replacement for his magic eye that's powering the core. i quote first words he said after putting the eye in his socket "who the fuck took my phone?". then the magic eye went apeshit and broke the core again. oh and also he made alphys braindead by quite literally scrambling her brain. yeah this au is rough sans hasn't really eaten anything since the core was destroyed since he decided not to eat any humans.

Dusttale: i think this was originally a korean au? basic rundown: too many genocide runs sans goes apeshit and tries to get his Lv up by killing monsters himself man went fuckin insane kills his brother blah blah blah edgy angsty au the ghost of papyrus haunts him n stuff. sans literally just looks the same except he has his hood on and sometimes artists draw him with papyrus's scarf. the cool artists draw him with his hood on and has the hood completely cover his face so u can only see his glowing pupils. although people call him dust sans he's actually named murder sans

Killer: so frickin similar to dusttale except sans goes apeshit because of the human being like "join me lmao". three different outcomes come from this. i think it was 1 sans joins human 2 sans joins human kills human later on 3 kills human or something. friends with color sans who is basically his impulse control. pretty sure his soul's fucked up and Color sans tries to make his soul un-fucked but Nightmare comes in and fucks up the progress. he has white shorts, his eye sockets are constantly pitch black and leaking tar or something also has a weird target thingy on his chest. OH YEAH ALSO HE HAS BEEF WITH UNDERSWAP SANS ALMOST FORGOT. basically swap sans tried to make killer good and then they had a fight, swap sans lost and was on the verge of dying thankfully swap papyrus was able to save him in time i think

Dreamtale: Dream isn't in the drawing but his brother, Nightmare is. Sooo he used to not look all goooy and have tentacles n stuff but then he ate a couple hundred apples and yeah. he's six years old apparently. Nightmare and Dream are supposed to be guardians of a tree that has 500 golden apples and 500 black n goopy apples. the golden aples are positive and the goop ones are negative. you're not supposed to eat either of them cus bad shit happens. Dream and Nightmare live in a village and for whatever reason they're all dicks to Nightmare because ooughh he's the guardian of negativity that's not baller. he also goes apeshit (do u see a pattern here) and eats a goopy apple n then becomes the goop man he is today. he fuckin eats 999 apples jesus christ. and the last one is eaten by Dream because if u eat all 1000 apples u become unstoppable and immortal. so that would be a bad thing if nightmare got the last one. wop wop wop these dude aren't sanses they only have the body of one if that makes sanse.

Error: manlet. he's literally an error and that's why he's like that. also he's technically not a sans now, the redesign for him was so that he could be in the creator's webcomic named Lucidia. Error sans, aka the destroyer of aus, finds aus to be mistakes so he tries to get rid of them. his process of doing this is simple: get the human soul to the void so that they can't reset, destroy the au. he primarily attacks using his strings which can wrap around one's soul and control them. he like some aus like outertale because of how open and empty it is. he likes to be alone and has haphephobia. if u touch him he'll glitch out and possibly crash. he crashes whenever gets overwhelmed. said crashing causes him to shut down and reboot and he's powerless while doing so. he's actually pretty easy to beat if you know how to push his buttons the right way. in the og ask error blog made by his creator Loverofpiggies he kidnaps Swap sans who tries to help Error become a better person. this ends horribly as error leaves Swap sans in the void who then becomes an error aswell due to being alone in the void too long. Error actually regrets doing that to swap sans

Aftertale: OK FUN FACT THE SANS OF THIS AU, WHO'S NICKNAMED "Geno" IS ERROR. aftertale is a comic made by LoverofPiggies it's been SOOOO long since i last read it so i cant really give a good summary. but anyways Geno is trapped in the loading screen with the human and will die if he leaves the loading screen. eventually from being in the loading screen for too long after the events of aftertale he becomes Error.

OOF WOWIE THERE'S SO MUCH TO GO

Underfresh: he's not even a sans either. "Fresh" is a parasite inhabiting a skeleton. his birthday is on 4/20 which is ironic cus he doesn't like drugs. he censors swears. he speaks 90's lingo and dresses like a neon sign. for some reason he has eyebrows and a gold tooth. the glasses he has can change text but normally defaults to "YOLO". he can't feel anything since he has no soul of his own and just latches onto the host's. instead he learns how to act from the people around him. not being able to feel actually bothers him a LOT

Echotale: Aka Gaster sans. uhhh this one was also a comic if i remember correctly. basically Frisk and G!Sans are the only ones in the au and they're trying to find the core to fix the fucked up timeline that they're in but the core keeps changing positions so that sucks.

Swapfell: originally made by Khhoppang who left social media. Started out as an Alphys x Undyne au so only those two were designed but Kh was planning to design more of the characters. before they could people had a field day with the idea of mashing two aus together and SO many people came up with their own designs for sans and papyrus. Khhoppang left social media because they got overwhelmed with all the art reposters and stuff, pretty sad. the appearance of the sans in that au is the purple one with a scythe (i dont think he has a scythe in the og design).

Swapfell Red: so basically this is the swapfell made by people that isn't Khhoppang. community made per se. Sans's appearance changes constantly because as said before many people made many different designs. typically he just looks like Swap sans but with red high heel boots and his color scheme fits underfell

Fellswap (gold): Au made by blackggggum. so swapfell is underswap turned fell, fell swap is underfell swapped it takes a bit to understand that. his appearance is somewhat similar to Swapfell red. He's kind to his friends but if ur his enemy he'll fucking deck you. he's blind in his left eye, the leader of the royal guard, and secretly into dressmaking. fun fact in this au Papyrus has autism

Xtale: uuuuhhhh so Cross is a complicated one. he's part of the royal guard along with papyrus. has beef with xgaster. responsible for the downfall of his au and then Underverse happens and Ink is all "oh cool someone to mess with" and they became friends for a bit then shit hit the fan

Underfell: OOOOO YES UNIRONICALLY ONE OF MY FAVORITES. So Underfell sans is actually a very powerful mf and constantly has his magic eye activated because he has so much magic. This au is also technically an alternate timeline where monsters "lost their humanity" as the creator put it. so basically trust in the underground is scarce. Sans and papyrus, contrary to many interpretations i fucking hate, are actually on good terms (and no sans doesn't call papyrus "boss" the creator said if he does he'd do it ironically and papyrus would hate it). Fun facts he pays Grillby in socks (grillby accepts the socks as payment and wears them), if u make grillby laugh he gives u a jacket that looks like his and it's heavily implied that sans made him laugh because their jackets are similar

Underswap: ah yes another classic that i love as well. originally made by PopcornPr1nce who fled social media because they hated how the majority fandom treated Underswap (Blueberry and Carrot were popular names for the fanon swap papyrus and sans). Swap sans is constantly infantilized by the community which sucks and i hate it so i draw my own very super cool version of him whom i kin because i am also very super cool.

Outertale: mainly an aesthetic au pretty sure there's no comic of it. basically, instead of underground they in space. outer sans dies in underverse after like minutes of screentime lmao

Epictale: a comic made by Yugogeer. the og comic was retconned and the creator loathes the original version and made a reboot that's much better. Sans actually dies very early in it because Yugo hates how Sans is almost always focused on in aus. also the creator hates how meme-y their sans has become (like him saying bruh every single sentence, using a rubber chicken as a weapon, cookies, etc.) he's friends with Cross but not in canon. He has a purple magic eye that makes him immortal and i think only epic gaster could remove it which is how sans was able to be killed when he fought gaster.

Temmietale: it's undertale but everyone is temmie, don't question it

Trainertale: it's undertale but it's Pokemon, don't question it

Dancetale: it's undertale but you dance instead of fight, don't

Mobtale/Mafiatale: im unsure if mobtale and mafiatale are separate or not but they are very similar. basically undertale but mafia it's self explanatory

Undertale: no clue which au is this one, nope not at all/j

Bittytale or whatever idk: so take sans, make him small. boom. never understood this au

THAT BASTARD INK: HOOO BOY SAVED THE WORST FOR LAST. FUCK THIS GUY/j. THIS DUDE. IS THE REASON IM STILL INTO UNDERTALE AUS. I LOVE EM SO MUCH. also technically not a sans. He comes from an unfinished au and ripped his own soul to escape said au and became an outcode. for so long he was just a soulless husk until someone drew him and he got splashed with paint which let him feel. soon he learned to keep the paint in vials so that he can be able to feel 24/7. And then he learned how to create things with a paintbrush and the paint and spent time alone drawing up his own world until a portal appeared and took him to the multiverse. now he encourages artists to keep creating aus. he's the protector of aus in the sense that he keeps other outcodes from disrupting the script of the au, so if it's pacifist and an outcode tries to kill people he'd stop them, if it's genocide and an outcode tried to help them he'd stop them. no matter what he wants the au to stay on script. fun fact the creator of ink and the creator of error never had them interact with each other in canon, that was all the fandom's doing. Contrary to popular belief he's not really considered "good" his alignment is officially "Chaotic neutral". I personally interpret him a lot more chaotic than in canon because it's fun but he's a pretty chill guy actually. he can just be a bit of an ass sometimes. According to the creator of Ink (who is Comyet) his interpretation in Underverse is not canon compliant. one of the biggest canon things that underverse contradicts is Ink deliberately not taking his vials. if he were to do that in canon he'd become a husk again which is the equivalent of him "dying". he was described as a walking corpse by Comyet, without the vials he can't function anymore. Like Error he's pretty easy to beat if you know his weaknesses. also he has fears of empty spaces and being alone

off topic kinda but i very much love how Error and Ink are opposites yet parallel even though they were completely written without the other in mind. Error believes getting rid of aus is getting rid of anomalies. Ink believes people interfering with aus are anomalies. Error loves emptiness, Ink hates emptiness. list goes on it's funky fresh.

Undertale Gaming Fic!!!

I haven't seen any Undertale fics on my dash here in years, and I had had an idea for one about the Dreemurr kids playing Smash Bros kicking around in my head for a while, so I decided to give it a go writing it! Make what you want to see in the world!

Read for Dreemurr sibs enjoying a nice afternoon of Gameing. It's my first fic so it may not be perfect of course, I would love to hear your comments or constructive criticism! Some parts may only be funny for people who have knowledge about competitive Smash stuff, whoops.

Ultimate Gaming

G rated, no content warnings besides mentions of food, Frisk feels a little bad at one point but they're okay.

It was a warm summer day, sunlight streaming through the windows of the Dreemurr household. The three kids sat collected on the living room couch, leaning forward towards the tv screen. Various levels of concentration visible on their faces.

They were engaged in a battle of wills, of their epic gamer skills. The stakes? Enormous. None other than the title of “Ultimate Gamer”, the most highly esteemed and honourable title of competitive household gaming that any of them could think of. And the chosen arena for their tense battle? A competitive tournament in Smash, of course.

(“Is it really a tournament with only three people?” Frisk had wondered idly while they were starting the game up.

“Of course it is, as long as everyone gets a ‘tourn’.” Was Chara’s reply in their soft-spoken voice, backed by Asriel nodding while also grimacing.)

Once the game has booted up and they’ve navigated the menus, the intense gaming action begins in earnest. The format was simple: 3 stocks, 7 minutes, no items, tournament-legal stages only, best out of three games per match, with the winner of the first match going against the third person. First up was Chara vs Asriel. Chara picks Mewtwo, who is “The coolest, and has powerful psychic abilities! Plus they’re relatable.” Asriel picks yellow Piranha Plant. He thinks it’s funny.

The first game is a strong start for the both of them, trading short strings of hits, neither taking a definitive lead. This changes at the end of their second stocks. Chara gets a down-b with Mewtwo on Asriel’s Piranha Plant, but ends up taunting for a just little too long, as a spiked Piranha Plant bashes them clear into the blast zone with its side smash. Chara is grumbling about it for the rest of the game as Asriel racks up some extra credit, then closes out the game on his last stock with a meteor smash using Piranha Plant’s teeny tiny pot, just as Mewtwo appears beside the ledge using teleport.

After a pitched battle, Chara wins the second game in the match very flashily by using confusion to rebound Piranha Plant’s ptooie spike ball back onto it, getting back at Asriel for his impressive k.o. the previous game and all the boasting he did immediately following it.

Whether Chara or Asriel would be moving on hangs in the balance for their third game of the match. Idle chatter and japing fade away as their focus reaches a sparking point. Frisk watches with bated breath, clutching the popcorn bowl they had procured sometime during the first two games tightly.

Inevitably, as Sisyphus rolls his ball up the hill, Chara falls. Every promising lead they take — is dashed by the risky moves they make. Foolery and hubris. Frisk shakes their head softly as Chara’s final whiffed reverse-aerial-rush offstage back-air is met in response with Piranha Plant’s second jump and explosive back-air of its own. Mewtwo exits the stage at Mach-1; Chara stares at the rainbow confetti drifting on the screen as the announcer shouts “GAME!”

Asriel and Frisk set about picking their characters as Chara slumps back against the couch, staring at the ceiling. Asriel is sticking with Piranha Plant, and Frisk… Frisk is picking the most fearsome, most powerful character in the whole game. It’s Kirby. It doesn’t matter if people say Kirby isn’t high-tier. In the hands of someone who likes the character and puts in the time, Kirby is a true force to be reckoned with. Chara perks up a little and glances at Frisk. “Isn’t Kirby kind of low-tier?” Asriel says.

“Kirby,” Frisk signs, “is Kirby-tier. And it’s not like you two are playing the meta anyways. You know that stuff doesn’t really matter. Finding a character you’re enthusiastic about is the best way to have fun. And become powerful.”

“Hahah, alright.” Asriel smiles, “I was just trying to aggravate you, I know.”

Frisk nods solemnly and understandingly. “Thank you” is all they sign back, and then they’re ready to set their popcorn bowl down and start their match.

Chara reaches over for a handful of popcorn, “I agree, but also Mewtwo is the strongest.”

The second, and final, match of the tournament; fight for the title of Ultimate Gamer. Frisk vs Asriel, Kirby vs Piranha Plant. And the game begins.

Right off the bat, Kirby has caught Piranha Plant up in a combo consisting of numerous forward-airs and down-airs, carrying Asriel to one end of the stage and ending with a run-up grab, pummel, and forward throw into open air. Naught but Piranha Plant’s impact noises and Kirby’s taunt sounds ring out. Frisk takes a hand of their controller to sign three letters. “S. D. I.”

“I tried?!?!”

The game continues as Chara launches into an in-depth explanation of proper SDI technique and how to wobble the control stick in the most optimal direction, sounding rather like their mom, and dividing Asriel’s attention as he does his best to be polite and give responses and affirmations that he’s listening.

“Now, if what you want is to influence your flight angle when not in stun-lock, that would simply be DI, or directional influence. This can be rather complicated at first. Holding the control stick in one lateral direction or the other will push your momentum that way, and holding it upwards or downwards will increase or decrease your momentum, respectfully. Now, this can get rather tricky at different launch trajectories, and predicting which direction your character will be sent is important for choosing the best possible option for your Directional Influence. Though worry not, I will walk through them all.” Chara continues onto several more explanations of game mechanics completely unnecessarily, a grin on their face. Asriel is doing his very very best to be polite.

With the first game out of the way (Frisk won), and the second game starting, Asriel is doing his best to concentrate his gaming skills, and Chara has decided to let up on him. They shift their heckling to Frisk.

“Mmm, personally I wouldn’t wait that close to the ledge.” “Do you think Kirby’s rock would beat out ptooie? Or other way around?” “You’ve got him on the ropes, Frisk! Get him!”

Kirby is currently being held by a grab in a cloud of poison.

“Why is Kirby so familiar to their friends do you think? … Because they’re always, a-round.”

Frisk’s hands are unfortunately busy trying to turn the game around, so they have to settle for sticking their tongue out at Chara.

It continues on like this for a minute more as Asriel does his best to get his Plant in a favorable position to leverage its legendary ledge guarding power and Frisk just does their best, at least getting Asriel down to one stock with a well timed rock-fakeout-double-rock.

It was a valiant struggle, but Asriel wins it with a well timed down-b, Piranha Plant shooting out of it’s pot to hit Kirby with startling accuracy. Frisk puts down their controller and looks like they want to say something but has to take a moment to prepare it, so the other two wait patiently. Eventually Frisk starts signing.

“Chara. I think I would. Mmm… Your Kirby joke was funny, but, I would appreciate it if you didn’t tease me so much when I can’t even respond properly. It’s kind of frustrating. I want you to have fun, but I don’t think it’s really fair.”

Chara looked surprised for a brief instant, and then grimaced at themself slightly. “I suppose you’re right, Frisk… Ah geez, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you or anything. I’ll keep it in mind and won’t do it again. I hope I can make it up to you.”

“Speaking of,” Asriel piped in, “and since you love consequences so much and all, how ‘bout you get us all some chocolate milk, I know I could use some. How about you Frisk?”

Frisk nodded and gave a quick sign of “Yeah!”

“Hm hmmm, well, no complaints here either, I’d be happy to,” said Chara, getting up and chuckling as they trot off to the kitchen.

“Alright, well then Frisk, lets get ready for the final—”

. . .

Asriel blinks a couple times, it fully sinking in that the time for their final, tie breaking game, all for the title of Ultimate Gamer is upon them.

“Heh, heheh,” He chuckles. “HAHAHAH,” Gives it a good chortle, standing up and turning away from Frisk dramatically.

“Frisk… Do you realize what we’ve come to…? This, the final confrontation, the fateful battle that will decide which of us is… the most epic… most awesome… truly THE Ultimate Gamer in the family…?”

He pauses for effect, and looks over his shoulder at Frisk, who gives a resolute nod.

Asriel smirks, “Heh, good. I expected no less from my rival, you who have matched my power up until now. And now—!” At this point Asriel has his foot on low table and is posing valiantly, “NOW! We have reached the absolute! We’ll see who has the will to inherit the power of Ultimate Gamer!!! The time is upon us! NGAAAAAA!!!!”

Asriel hops fully off the table and picks up his controller, returning to the couch and nodding. Chara is leaning out to observe from the kitchen and starts clapping. “Thank you, thank you,” Says Asriel, beginning to navigate the character select menu.

Chara is back with three glasses of chocolate milk, plonking one down in front of each of their spots. “Are you… Switching to your main?” Chara and Frisk say and sign both at the same time, stiffling laughs.

“Yes, actually, I am” Asriel says, huffing at himself a bit too. “I have to get serious for the end of the match!”

“Weren’t you already serious?” Signs Frisk.

“LUCAS!” Says the announcer.

“Heh… we’ll just have to see about that, won’t we?”

Game three, final match. It’s all down to this to see who will win the rights to the esteemed title of Ultimate Gamer. Chara had gone back into the kitchen and returns now with a bowl full of strawberries that they set down on the table near Frisk. With everyone settled back on the couch, the game begins…

The action is fast and ferocious, both players using their chosen characters to their full potential, as much as they could as casual-competitive players anyways. Barrages of projectiles from Lucas (Occasionally caught and shot back by Kirby), interspersing flurries of drifting neutral-airs and down-airs, aiming to get a small string of hits or potentially put Kirby in a juggle situation. Frisk takes a defensive stance, using their shield wisely and looking for opportunities to strike back at Asriel, making the absolute most of it when they do get a chance.

The tension in the air is thick enough to cut, every gathered is deadly serious as Frisk and Asriel battle it out, and Chara watches on, occasionally making small commentary.

“Oooh, solid punish from Frisk.”

“Asriel handily recovering.”

“Kirby gets frozen but, Frisk is able to mash out of it relatively easily.”

“That was a close call, if Lucas got grabbed there that would have been the stock, especially with that platform there.”

“And there’s the stock anyways.”

“And there’s Kirby’s as well.”

“We’ve had a series of good reads this match, Asriel just caught Frisk’s roll-in with a quick down smash, piling on the percentage but not going to k.o. just yet.”

“WOAH! Nice spot-dodge from Frisk, narrowly avoiding the tether grab and closing the distance with a standing dash attack!”

“Looks like we’re getting down to the wire, only thirty seconds left…”

“Oh…?— OH MY GOODNESS!!! ASRIEL’S PK FIRE WAS CAUGHT BY FRISK, SHOT BACK OUT, BUT THEN—! THE STICK REFLECT!!! NO!!!! CAUGHT AGAIN!!! THE DODGES! OKAY, ASRIEL’S SHIELD CAN’T STAY UP FOREVER, AND! THERE IT IS!!!! THAT’S THE MATCH!!!! FRISK IS OUR WINNER!!!! WHAT A GAME!!!!”

And just as Chara had said, Frisk was victorious. Frisk and Asriel set down their controllers, and Asriel gave a good natured smile and offered a handshake, as is competitive curtesy, which Frisk gladly accepted.

“Good game everyone!” Said Chara cheerily. And then stepping into the role of conducting the award ceremony, began, “Congratulations Frisk! I am proud and happy to announce that YOU are the Ult—”

Just then, Toriel appears, having just got back to the house from running errands.

“Greetings my children! Oh! Are we having a fun and games? Playing some Crashing Comrades?”

Frisk smiles and nods enthusiastically. Asriel and Chara both agreeing as well.

“Would it be okay if I played a little as well?”

“Ah, well,” Frisk signed, “we were kind of having a tournament to decide who was the Ultimate Gamer…”

“I’m quite the gamer myself you know!” Toriel said, “I am very formidable at certain card games! And besides, it’s not a tournament if not everybody gets a ‘tourn’!”

Asriel looks like he’s withering. Frisk and especially Chara are both delighted. Asriel is delighted as well but he puts on the show.

After a good laugh, Toriel continues, “Though of course I would not want to intrude on your fun or interfere with your tournament structure.”

The kids share a look, silently agreeing that it would be okay actually, and they can have a Toriel Bracket. Frisk lets her know by signing “No! It’s okay! Final challenge! It’ll be you and me for winning the title of Ultimate Gamer!”

“Oh, wonderful! Let us see who emerges victorious, my child.”

After going over the controls with Toriel to remind her, they set into choosing characters in order to start the match. Frisk decides to stick with Kirby, as they’re most familiar with them. After perusing the wide selection of characters, Toriel picks Sephiroth.

Chara immediately starts repeatedly saying “IT’S SEPHIROTH!” in their best (Not especially accurate) Donald Duck impression and cackling.

“He looks powerful,” Is Toriel’s explanation.

“Yeah,” Croaks out Asriel.

In the end, Frisk is toast. Toriel somehow handily makes use of Sephiroth’s enormous hitboxes, and makes it very hard for Frisk’s Kirby to be able to get in to attack with their short range.

Kirby is eventually able to at least inhale Sephiroth and get his copy ability, at which point they all take a break to laugh at Kirby with hair, the kids doing so through their bewilderment at Toriel’s destructive rampage.

Kirby doesn’t even get to keep the copy ability long, and Toriel decisively ends the game with a fully charged neutral-b after having broken Kirby’s shield and stunning them.

Kirby flies off explosively and silence falls as it goes to the victory screen. Sephiroth laughs evilly against a dark backdrop of flame as Toriel utters seven words with grave severity: “My child I shall break your heart.”

“… Oh, haha… I saw a line like that in a comic that a dog brought to me in its mouth one day. It had a character in it with a striking likeness to myself.”

And so with proper congratulations and bequeathment of title squared away, the Ultimate Gamer Tournament comes to a close. Toriel is very happy to have won and to have received this honour, but makes sure to say, “You are all Ultimate Gamers to me, my children.”

Everyone feels happy and content with the outcome.

Since they had spent a good deal of time enjoying a shared activity, the kids all decide to each go do their own thing for the next part of the afternoon.

After explaining how they thought that that final battle was honestly like something that could happen in Kirby canon, with Frisk agreeing, Chara gives both of their siblings a hug and walks out the front door, muttering something about plants, which means they’re either going to head out to wander around looking at plants they find, or they’re going to walk to Asgore’s house and see if he needs any help with the garden. Asriel decides to help Toriel with some baking she’s doing; he finds it can be soothing sometimes, and he likes tasting all the ingredients. Frisk takes a moment to finish the last strawberry from the bowl, and then heads outside as well, in order to find a nice and sunny patch of soft grass to take a nap in. They’re tuckered and could use a good rest.

Idly, Frisk wonders what they could get up to tomorrow. Maybe go on a dog-petting spree, or take a nice hike, or make some art… Who knows, who knows…

Random person here to hand you a mental picture relating to XTale and Epictale: XGaster and Epic Gaster in a lil tiny cuddlepile on the couch. Cross can't wake them, XChara has taken at least 48 photos to use as blackmail, Epic Frisk is covering the two in blankets and stuffed animals, Epic's just kinda sitting there pretending to sleep, and X is actually sleeping and has no idea that he and Epic G aren't alone. At some point Epic Muffet walked into the room, took one look at them, and left.

Well then, what are your Good Sanses headcanons?

Here are some of them!

Dream is the holder of the single brain cell among the Star Sanses. Blue sometimes has it, but he gets excited too easily and Ink is...well, Ink

Sci does help them out from time to time, but he also helps Nightmare’s Gang as well. First it was out of fear for his life, but as more time passes it becomes willingly. He’s a neutral party, like Fresh!

Outertale Sans floats around everywhere, and Blue has asked multiple times to be carried. He only succeeds once, and it ended in chaos when Ink saw them and wanted to join too so he ran and jumped at them

Red munches on chocolate all throughout meetings, and Dancetale Sans is his willing accomplice

Ink can’t sit still for long during meetings, so he usually paces or doodles as a way to take notes

Epic sits in the very back, facetimes Cross, and talks to him at every single meeting. “do you see this, bro? this is taking ages.” “i know bro, i’ll save some cookies for you” “oh you are a legend bro” “you too bro”

Blue hands out snacks to everyone, and Flowerfell Sans usually asks for one extra to give to Flowerfell Frisk (which Blue happily agrees to)

Sometimes G only uses Morse Code at the meetings and it drives the others insane when they spend hours deciphering long strings of Morse Code only to find that it’s the Bee Movie Script

Undertale Sans makes sure they all break for a nap. No one can escape.

Ink sometimes steps out to call someone, and comes back humming

Outertale Sans usually brings pictures of his universe to show to the Sanses who haven’t gotten out of the Underground, and schedules a day where everyone visits his universe for some relaxation. Nearly all the Sanses have cried at least once when they saw the stars in person.

Sometimes Fresh opens up a portal and lets Killer and Dust look in on the meeting. They usually prank some of the Sanses with stringy cheese and confetti

When Fresh attends, he has a habit of moonwalking in through a portal

Overtime, meetings become less like meetings and a place to hang out. After some encouragement, Dancetale Sans holds a dancing session and it goes so well that there’s one every Tuesday
