So, just a bit of a rant here: A family friend is selling their home and recently had to have an inspector come and look at the home. The family friend is a woman and an immigrant and the inspector was a man. Upon entering the house, he proceeded to degrade her in every way. When someone stepped in (also a woman) to say something in regards to the rules and regulations, the man told her that he didn't appreciate her attitude and that she was in his way. My problem with this isn't that the inspector was a man. My problem is that he believed that despite the fact that he too was an immigrant, he had every right to degrade someone else. This is a problem that occurs daily everywhere in the world. Not necessarily from a man to a woman, but commonly so. The unfortunate part is that this family friend who is selling her home didn't know better. She didn't believe that he was degrading her. THIS IS WHY WE NEED FEMINISM!!! Because women, men, children, and EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE WORLD should know and understand that they should NEVER be treated as less than whatever they are. Please spread the word. Many places around the world (first world included) still teach women to hold their tongue.
