A meta on self-worth issues
Maybe it's just me,but Percy Jackson never seemed to be someone with a consistent low self-esteem problem. While he does have his "down on himself" moments,Percy doesn't seem to struggle much with that kind of negative thoughts and it doesn't cause much of a problem in his life(nor we see him doing much of an effort to control said thoughts). And it becomes glaring whenever I remember Leo,Luke and Nico.
Leo's POV shows consistent thoughts of worthlessness,Nico has self-preservation issues(namely, the lack of it),Luke's acidic envy towards Percy and need for validation. Percy had none of that,a moment where self-doubt got in the way of him getting shit done, nor some sort of "conditional self-worth". In fact,Percy's "self-consciousness" is kinda cute,as it makes him look humble and endearingly self-deprecating.

All I want to do is write time travel Star Wars fics of all of the Jedi meeting Luke and being like “oh, this kid ain’t so bad, he’s just a normal Force-sensitive-“ and Luke does absolutely anything and they all react like “…what?”
Like—
Luke: “Okay, I’ll ask Anakin.”
Some Random Jedi: “You can’t contact Anakin in time! He hasn’t been answering any comm calls and he’s halfway across the galaxy-!”
Luke: “Anakin said he’d be here in three days. Or sooner, if he convinces Obi-Wan to let him drive with his concussion.”
Everyone: “…excuse?”
I just want someone (multiple someones) to point out that Luke is the weirdest guy ever.
(Look, look, look, loOK. Thrawn trilogy mentioned, very briefly and honestly quite forgettably, that Jedi “hybernate” on long ship rides so that they don’t have to eat as much. But like, what??? Is that canon??? Are we sure Jedi do that??? Are we sure Luke isn’t just fucking weird??? I always thought they meditated, but no, Luke straight up hybernates, what the fuck???)
I think Luke should be considered strange, even by Jedi standards. And by “I think,” I mean “Luke just straight up is strange, even by Jedi standards.” All I want to do is explore how strange he is, and how it would basically be like spending your whole life learning to play the violin, only for someone to show up and play Paganini Variations “God Save the King” after learning what a violin is two weeks ago.
He’s a prodigy child, I suppose is what I’m saying, and by the gods do I want to explore it…

Summary:
Leia has been assigned the dreary task of capturing the last Jedi and bringing them, alive, to her father in order to regain her honor—if any such Jedi still exists. Ezra, meanwhile, has been able to keep under the radar since emerging from stasis several months ago—largely because he finds himself resigned to being the last of his kind. Sabine? She’s tired of everyone’s apathy, and ready to do anything to fight back.
She just wasn’t expecting an opportunity to come so quickly in the form of the emperor’s daughter catching wind of Ezra’s existence.

Luke being given a quest at 17, feeling like there's no glory in it because it's a quest someone's already succeeded before, but then failing that very quest he considered to be beneath him, getting a permanent scar, "ruining it" for the rest of the campers because now no one else can go on quests and earn glory in the eyes of the gods, so he turns to Kronos, and years later here comes a possible candidate for the great prophecy, 12 years old, gets the first quest the camp has done since Luke's fucked it up, and Luke is actively ensuring this quest is an impossible quest!! he's literally rigged it so Percy's gonna fail (the shoes, the bolt appearing in his bag) and then this kid somehow succeeds still??? and not only that, Percy got the unique quest Luke wanted in the first place and achieved feats no one else had and earned glory in the eyes of his father, all because Luke created the circumstances for that to happen??
oh my god yeah I don't think I'd ever recover from that either
