When you got into a show years after it actually came out, so all of the good fanfics are either deleted or left unfinished with like 3/28 chapters and the show is only mentioned anywhere in the context of “rEmEmBeR tHiS sHoW fRoM yEaRs AgO,” or in regards to the boring ass main ship that you don’t even like.

Unpopular OITNB opinions because I’m bored and procrastinating
I had little to no interest in Taystee and found her outright annoying at times. She was okay in the earlier seasons and my idea of her was that she was good character that I didn’t like due to personal preference. However, in the later season, I felt that she could be irritating, irrational and depressing in an unenjoyable way and that she got far too much screen time for what I considered to be a rather dull plot.
I find it hilarious when people try to complain about people on the show being mean or bad people. Like yes, that’s why 99% of them have landed themselves in prison. The funniest examples of this complaint are when people say that Lorna, someone who grew up Italian-American in New York, could sometimes say racist things or when Flaritza, two girls who probably couldn’t even legally drink before they went to prison and, in Maritza’s case at least, didn’t seem to have parents who cared for them, could sometimes be bitchy and immature. These comments are even funnier when whoever says this then goes on to say that they love Frieda, Carol and Barb.
In my personal opinion, Season 2 was the best season quality-wise but Season 4 was better when it came down to drama and entertainment. Season 3 was actually one of my favourites aside from Alex’s whole paranoid arc and I didn’t really mind the panty storyline. Season 1 was obviously good, if a little slow and boring at first. Season 5 shouldn’t have dragged on for so long, if they were only going to cover three days, although I probably would have enjoyed it if it hadn’t felt so absurd and weird compared to previous seasons. Season 7 was depressing trauma porn from start to finish and Season 6 was dreadful n every single way and a terrible conclusion for the riot.
I felt like the family dynamics became way less cohesive it’s the show progressed and people that had once gotten on perfectly well were suddenly at each other’s throats and vice versa. A good example of this was Spanish Harlem which went from a clearly outlined family where Aleida and Gloria acted as parents, Blanca was not a part of the group and the other four ( Maria, Daya, Maritza and Flaca ) pretty much did whatever Aleida said. Contrast this to Season 4/5 where Aleida leaves but Flaritza and Maria don’t seem to even notice, Gloria just let’s Maria have control over Harlem with no complaints whatsoever, Maria and Maritza seem to be at each other’s throats one second and back to there seemingly rather good Season 2/3 friendship the next, Blanca is suddenly an active member of the group and Gloria only cares about Daya. This faulty dynamic is true for all of the other groups as well, and never gets the chance to recover after they are sent to Max.
I didn’t like how some of the seriously traumatic stuff that happened to some of these characters, especially in Season 4, was never addressed by the show again and seemed to forgotten after the episode ended by both the writers and the character themself. You’re telling me that Maritza was creeped on, forced to eat a live animal, held at gunpoint and repeatedly harassed but she bounced back after throwing up like twice and hugging Flaca. In reality, she would probably take a long while to recover or feel truly comfortable in her own skin again, maybe even experiencing some PTSD, which could have been an interesting storyline to take her character down through Season 5, instead of relegating her back to comedy bits and pop culture references.
That’s all my opinions for now, although I will probably make a Part 2 for this post. Hope you agreed with at least one of my takes and that you don’t want to kill me for some of the things I said.

Ranking The OITNB Seasons Cause You Can’t Stop Me
7. Season 3: A lot of the drama felt forced and the whole panty business was just overall boring. And am I the only one who didn’t totally fawn over Ruby Rose? But there’s no way it’s all bad. I think the lake scene was beautiful. And I liked the first episode a lot. I thought it was a fairly strong season opener.
6. Season 2: This one has a lot of the same down points as season 3. The whole Vee thing wasn’t that entertaining. Though I do think it put some good strain on some relationships between the characters that I liked. And I think it had some pretty strong episodes such as Looks Blue, Tastes Red (2x02) and You Also Have A Pizza (2x06). And the part where Rosa kills Vee and where we learn more about Lorna is awesome.
5. Season 6: The one where they all go to Max. It was really nice to see all the characters in a different place. It challenged them. In good and bad ways obviously. The whole Taystee storyline mad me incredibly sad but I think it was very well written and powerful. Especially the scene where she is wrongfully found guilty. I’m a sucker for well written moments that tear out my heart and stomp on it. And I loved the part where they all played dodgeball together. But while I do think this episode had some really strong moments, there was still the worst part. Badison. No I won’t elaborate because if you watch the show you understand.
4. Season 1: First thing I’m gonna say is there’s not much I can say about this. There’s nothing that bad about it. I just think the rest of the seasons are better to me. Though this was a VERY strong first season. I actually really liked the conflict between Piper and Pennsatucky. AND PIPER WASN’T INTOLLERABLE YET! So that’s a total win. And I honestly didn’t hate Larry as much as other parts of the fandom did.
3. Season 7: I know a lot of people might get offended by me putting this season so high. But I actually loved it. Made me cry and wanna punch some of the characters but that was kinda the point. I loved having Maritza back even if she was gone fairly soon with a sad ending. A lot of the characters seemed to finally like hit/pass their breaking point and I liked seeing everyone so broken. Even if it made me cry and wanna scream. There were just some really beautiful moments like Suzanne singing. And when I started the show I didn’t think I would ever cry at Penns dying.
2. Season 4: This is to me where the show started getting really good. The drama was tense and the stakes were high. To me I feel like when they brought the guards in is when the whole story started. When I watch a show one thing look for is “What is the defining moment that started everything pushing towards the finale” and I think this season was it. I feel like in the sense of the overall story, seasons 1-3 where kinda like showing us the prison without TOO many long term consequences or storylines. Like the main conflict is ending in the finale, Piper v Pennsatucky, Vee vs Essentially everyone. And Poussey dying, god. arguably, the saddest death. P is for sure my favorite character on the show. I loved her and Brook during this season. But all good things come to an end.
1. Season 5: Hands down, the best season. At least in my opinion. This is like where ohhh the actions of the previous season actually meant something. I loved watching the riot. Taystee’s speech when she took the mic from Judy King was so powerful and I love it. And I liked Piper. I didn’t care for Piper much at all in seasons 3 and 4 but I care again now. I really liked seeing everyone work together (for the most part). I liked seeing the conflict be The Girls vs The Prison not The Girls vs The Girls. Something that rubbed me the wrong way was the talent show and Coates/Penns. But it’s kinda shadowed by how much I  LOVE this season. And the ending, my favorite.
General Feelings: Something that I feel like pretty much every season season had was that some of the middle section was kinda boring and the drama felt sometimes forced. But GOD does this show know how to make a good finale. I think all the seasons had a good finale.
