They Gentry call her Magpie.
A wordsmith with a love of poetry, a crafter of trinkets, a clever bird with a glittering hoard and too many wits for her own good. She was an easy mark, once, easily lured by shiny baubles and flowery words, a prize songbird fit for slaughter. But, like all corvids, she was both smart and loud; she knew when she was being tricked, and fled into the Library squawking bloody murder, a clarion call for whatever aid could be spared. Her emergence was a storm of reflected light and righteous fury, the grudge of a corvid whose flock had been pestered for far too long. She took back what was hers and then some; her new boundaries clearly drawn in salt and spilled blood. She is a thief, the Gentry say, and she wears her namesake well.
To her fellow students she is Rook, Jackdaw, Raven, Bluejay, Crow - any number of avian names, so long as they are Corvidae in nature. She is an English major with Forbidden friends, a charmsmith of feathers and iron, a poet with a silver tongue, a friend to the crows. In her early days at Elsewhere she was a wanderer lost, pale pink stars on a denim jacket winking out far too fast. A memory lost was found and repurchased, an act of open rebellion which caught the Gentry’s ire. A damascene knife made quick work of the shadows, but that wasn’t the only darkness she faced. Seasonal depression followed her Elsewhere, and a month without a sky takes a toll on the mind. A golden pin now adorns a jacket sewn with stars, and the miniature sun which lights her steps has led many out of the Gentry’s clutches. Webcutter may be her primary weapon, but a phoenix-feather quill or a blown-glass pen are just as deadly in a poet’s hands.
The Gentry call her Magpie. Thief. Enemy.
The students call her Murder.

I've got a request for a random table - d20 fantasy body modifications (tattoos, piercings, etc.) for a character / NPC to have. I'm talking things like elf-ear piercings, horn caps, living tattoos... stuff like that!
1d20 Fantasy Body Modifications
“Fairy Ladder” Piercings - a set of three or more industrial piercings for Elves and other long-eared folks
Claw Enhancements - popular among folks without natural claws, and those who want to strengthen or emphasize their natural claws. Minor transmutations can be used to add claws, and to harden, sharpen, and even re-color or re-shape existing claws.
Tattoo Pets - living tattoos of animals that run and play around the bearer’s skin.
Tooth Alteration - folks with sharp teeth want blunt teeth, folks with blunt teeth want sharp teeth. The decision to have one’s teeth magically altered can be influenced by dietary choices, sexual preferences, medical needs, and aesthetics.
Horn Caps and Cuffs - made of precious metals, sometimes set with stones or connected by lengths of chain.
Portal Gauges - jewelry for stretched earlobe piercings which form a pair of teleportation portals. Passing tiny objects from one side of your head to the other is rarely more than a party trick, but is pretty cool.
Almanac Tattoos - calendars, moon phases, weather, etc, these magical tracking tattoos are popular among mages, farmers, and more.
Tail Tip Piercings, which are all the rage among folks with tails these days.
Horn/Tusk/Antler carvings - tattoo-like carvings on the horns, tusks, or antlers of those who have them. Patterns and images are usually carved in rings.
Gills of Amphibious Breathing - having a pair of gills on one’s neck is both visually striking and incredibly useful for long swims. The transmutation ritual for permanent gills is quite costly, so temporary gills are popular for beach days and pool parties.
Tattoo Gardens - the growth and blooming of these plant images can be attuned to anything from the bearer’s mood, to actual weather and natural surroundings.
Illuminated Hair - why stop at regular hair dye when you could have hair that literally glows in the dark? Illuminated hair potions are applied in a similar manner to regular hair dyes, with similar longevity and similar risks of staining the bathtub if you aren’t careful.
Mithril Earrings - Mithril jewelry doesn’t come cheap, but it is prized for its striking blue-silver appearance and for being lighter weight than most other metals but still extremely durable. It is especially popular for creating large dangly earrings that would otherwise be excessively heavy.
Warding Tattoos - protective sigils can be tattooed in magical inks to ward against just about anything, from general protection to shielding against highly specific curses. Their effectiveness depends both on the potency of the ink and the skill of the tattoo mage who applies them.
Tongue Ring of Tongues - a tongue piercing which grants the wearer the ability to speak any language.
Third Eye - generally cosmetic, although a cunning seer might be able to leverage their third eye for more credibility among less magically-inclined folks.
Warlock’s Brand - sometimes called a “mark of eternal servitude”, their appearance varies depending upon to whom the bearer has sold their soul. Anything goes, really, from always-smoldering singe marks to patches of skin replaced by iridescent crystal.
Hair Snakes - usually all of a person’s hair is polymorphed into snakes, though some might choose to keep most of their hair and only have one to three snakes.
Feather/Scale Patterning - a magical alternative to tattoos for birdfolk, half-dragons, and other feathered or scaled people. Each scale/feather in a chosen area is dyed to create an image or pattern.
Tattoos of Warning - any individual bearing one of these magical tattoos can send a signal to the others who bear an identical mark. The signal is typically a feeling such as warmth or tingling on the location of the tattoo. More complex versions are available that allow the bearers to establish multiple signals represented by different sensations.

Hey! Figured I'd reach out and tell you about my Ancient Greek classes now that I'm in college. I can pronounce / read most Greek words I see, and am slowly but surely building my vocabulary to be able to comprehend them (translation takes FOREVER though, definitely a labor of love). No literature on Hermes just yet, sadly, but there has been talk about offerings to Zeus and Posideon in our stories! It's amazing to be able to not only connect with the Greek gods in their native tongue, but also learn more about Greece's history too. Hope you're doing okay in these chaotic times - sending socially-distanced hugs from MN!
This is so wonderful, friend! I know my reply is super late, but I’d love to hear more about how your studies have been going ♥️

If you have the time and energy, I'd like to request a reading from the Sekhmet's Servants deck - if anyone has any messages for me, I'm open to hearing them. (If specific questions are allowed, I'd like to ask if there are any specific issues I need to take a closer look at during my next bout of shadow work.) Thank you in advance!
Hello there! I left it up to the Netjeru to decide which question to answer, and Wepwawet came forward (a little on the nose as he is the Opener of the Way). I also drew a secondary card from my Linestrider Deck to ensure a clear message, and got the Two of Cups reversed.
Wepwawet appears in this context in a fully jackal form, watching people pass through a crowded city. They pay no attention to Him as they go on about their lives- families shopping, partners laughing and squabbling, kids yelling as they run past. He gestures towards each group as they come near before speaking.
“It’s time to focus inward on your relationships, and finding out what no longer serves you on your path. What has become a chore for you to maintain, and what needs more of your attention? Just as your path ebbs and flows, people come and go from your life. Don’t allow them to stagnate or hold you from where you’re meant to be.”

For your Spell Title ask challenge: Redrunner's Resilience! Must be usable by bards - other classes can be added at your discretion. (Bonus points if you can work in a red material component!)
Red Runner's Resilience
5th-level necromancy Casting Time: 1 action Range: 60 feet Components: V M (a pinch of powder made from mummified red runner cockroaches) Duration: Concentration, 1 minute Spell Lists: Artificer, Bard, Druid
You choose three friendly creature that you can see within range and bestow them with a fortitude comparable to that of a cockroach. For the duration of the spell, if damage reduces a target to 0 hit points, it must make a Constitution saving throw with a DC of 5 + the damage taken, unless the damage is from a critical hit. On a success, the target drops to 1 hit point instead.
I’ve not been on tumblr for a while so I’m sorry you got this so late, hope you enjoy the spell!

It’s been a while but someone submitted an OC for my Demon Contracts.
This time around it’s @foxycipher‘s archer OC Azariah, fusing with the avatar of justice, Caedo.
The two of them butt heads personality wise, but have very similar goals, making for a powerful but violative contract.
The contracts are still open on my other blog if you are interested

I've got a wand in the works currently! I saved a twig from the lilac pruning I did a few summers ago, washed it numerous times to get the bark and the sap off, then sanded the absolute shit out of it until it was smooth and there were no knobby bits left. I have a shard of unidentified quartz lying around that I want to use for the fulcrum, but I'm stuck on what to use for a base. Any suggestions? I offer a trio of mismatched dice and a souvenier pen with green ink in exchange for your advice.
SLOW DOWN YOUR SLAPDASH ATTITUDE HERE IS GOOD MUCH OF MAGIC BUT NOT FOR THIS THE CONSTRUCTION OF A FOCUS MUST BE A LABOR OF LOVE REMEMBER YOU ARE SETTING OUT TO CREATE SOMETHING YOU TRULY BELIEVE REPRESENTS YOU

I offer you a tiny Triceratops pendant made of an unknown stone, free of its lanyard after years of being forgotten. It seems to absorb bad vibes and... eat them? Send them elsewhere? IDK where the vibes go, but every time someone picks it up the old bad vibes are gone and it removes any new bad vibes they might have at the moment. Your museum seems like it would benefit from owning this item, although I'd advise caution in trying to remove all the bad vibes at once - it might become sentient.
Hmmm yes, that could probably be useful around here. In fact, I think I have an idea of something it might be especially good for. In return, a cookbook that automatically opens to a recipe for the readers dietary needs, preferences, goals and current stock of food every time you read it. Great for trying new things cause you know you're gonna like it, and great for when you're pretty sure there's nothing in the house you can actually eat.

I seek a prophecy, and offer in exchange a blue hand-knitted scarf that was never given to its intended recipient; may it keep you warm in these trying times. Adulthood weighs heavy on my soul, and if I keep going down the road that I myself have paved then the fragile dreams that built it will shatter and I don't think I can stick the landing from a fall that high up with broken wings that won't heal.
It weighs heavy on everyone, dear. I love the scarf, no matter how sad it feels. I'll throw in a bonus with your prophecy; a few words: You will have what you wish soon.
Soft purple blankets, twinkling stars. Scattered shards of blue and white fall through the sky. You may fall, dear one, but the grass you land upon is soft and will provide what you need. The trees call your name, don't be afraid to seek help from those you find among the plants.

Hello again! You asked how the Greek studies were going - well, it's been a few years now, and I only needed 1 year of it for my language gen ed. I haven't forgotten how to read it, and there are still a few words and phrases I remember the translation for!
In other deity work news, I've been introduced to deities from the Welsh and Norse pantheons and have reevaluated where I stand with the Greek pantheon. I don't think I've actually been working with Hermes at all these past few years; looking back, none of the signs I've received have fit His MO. I have gotten a few definitive signs from Apollo, though, and my Welsh practitioner friend says that Brigid might have taken an interest in me, though she's a lot harder to pin down (Welsh deities are VERY quiet, and in my experience, Brigid is as flighty as the inspiration she provides).
I hope you're still doing well, and may the Gods continue to accompany you on your journey! (Tell Hermes I said hi, will ya?)
Thanks for the update! Spirituality is such an interesting journey. I’m happy you’re doing well and following your inner compass ♥️

I'll take a Netjeru reading, if you have the energy for it! I don't have a specific question in mind, though if you need one, I'd like to know if there have been any major signs that I've missed recently - everyone I work with has felt unusually distant as of late.
Hello there!
I had Raet + Strength come forward for you. I do not get a specific image of Raet. Instead, I simply feel the warmth of sunlight.
"Take heart, little one, and remember that you have the strength to get through any situation. You are not alone, for the Netjeru are always with you. Know this every time you look upon the sun and the stars, every time you breath in the air or drink in the water."
