i think its so cruel narratively that, because we never got to see any moments before their marriage, we don't know Linda's maiden name. We only know her as Shelby, the name she now hates and wishes to have nothing to do with. We know Lizzie was Stark, that Grace was Burgess/Dunn, that May was Carleton and to an extent who they all were before Tommy. We know Esme was Lee and at least see her actually marry John and their relationship begin. But we aren't privvy so much to Linda's story. We don't see who she was before Arthur, like the narrative wishes to deny it to us. And then even when we think she's out of The Loop, it starts again because she's persuaded to come back to help him in s6.
