Wednesday's breathing was heavy, showing how annoyed she was. It wasn't enough having her parents in Nevermore for the weekend but you also wanted her to take photos with them. "Oh, come on, your family is great. I love them." Gómez was more than pleased to take photos with her little storm cloud and you loved him because of how dedicated he was. You also took some photos of him and Pugsley, and Morticia and Gómez being really close to each other. At that point, Wednesday was about to explode.

📸 — You just love when she makes a ball of herself. Sometimes she does it because she needs to think and it helps her to meditate, other times because she's overwhelmed and needs to be on her own for a little while. But other times she does it because she's aware of how adorable you think she looks.

You'd be walking around Nevermore and find a small black ball sitting on the ground, with her legs against her chest and trying to hide from everyone. You'd put your phone out of your pocket and take a photo before approaching her and sitting by her side with your arms pulling Wednesday closer.

📸 — Photos when she's not paying attention. She could be doing anything and you'd need to take a photo of her because of how beautiful she looked. If she caught you, Wednesday would frown, not mad, just confused, and she'd ask you why would you do that.

She looked adorable with the cat ears, and she seemed so peaceful during her writing hour that you needed to capture it.

"Wednesday?" You called her after taking a photo of her.

She hummed.

"I love you."

Wednesday raised her head from the typewriter and her eyes focused on the wall in front of her. You couldn't see the expression on her face but you were sure that she was deciding what to do.

"I love you too."

She raised her eyebrows, not believing what you just called her. Wednesday Addams being called pocket size. "Give me your phone." She stated and tried to take it off your hands.

"You are so small I could just put you in my pocket."

Did Vega have or have any pets of her own?

yoI imagine her as a child asking for a puppy like any child, but getting something completely different from her Uncle Fester. Something like a Komodo dragon, a rattlesnake, or even a platypus (they're poisonous too!)

WWednesday wouldn't have many complaints, other than making Vega take care of him, but Enid would definitely have a fit knowing that her girl is playing with something poisonous. (Just to remember that it is normal for an Addams)

Maybe later he ends up with a lynx cub as a Christmas gift from Morticia and Gómez...

I actually did plan on showing that Vega has a pet she left with Wednesday and Enid!

Around Vega's seventh birthday, Yoko and Eugene asked her what she wanted. They were determined to one up each other as godparents. Unfortunately Vega wished for an alien friend. Eugene got her the alien plushy she carries around.

But Yoko got her one of these bad boys.

Apparently, since it looked like ET, she figured it was good enough, and Vega absolutely loved him. He's named TOI-1338 b, which was the planet recently discovered by a 17 yr old NASA intern, whose brother wanted to name it Wolftopia. Enid just decided to nickname him "Theo"(Tee-yow). Wednesday calls him by his full government name.

Yoko asked Enid and Wednesday if it would be okay to give Vega a pet first of course. Wednesday agreed because it was a hairless cat. If she had to deal with another hairy creature's fur latching onto her black clothes somebody was getting shaved.

Anyways. Eugene got the cat this capsule/dropship themed bed like a week or so later.

This is one of the many things I love about the Addams Family, and the main thing that resonates with so many people I think, including me.

Here we have Uncle Fester in season 2 talking about his (departed) brother Clump, that has never been mentioned before. And everybody is listening attentively and with great interest... Because they don't know the story and they probably didn't know about Clump either!

Not so many episodes ago, someone asked Uncle Fester what was his surname anyway... He confessed he didn't know. Uncle Fester doesn't know his surname!

This happens again and again! And not only with Fester. Everybody's placement on the family tree is dubious.

I realize this is made for comedic effect, but the implications are beautiful.

"But how can that possibly be?", you ask. "Hadn't it been established that Fester was Morticia's uncle?"

Well yes and no! You see, it changes from episode to episode.

Because it doesn't really matter!

The "Family" in "Addams Family" doesn't have the usual meaning. Family means "people we love and have history with". Hence the myriad of cousins and uncles of different races, nationalities or even species, all wildly different.

Blood relation is completely irrelevant in the Addams Family. The Addams Family is a found family, an assortment of weirdos drawn together by their shared interests, pathos and aesthetic sensibilities.

It is impossible to drawn an accurate Addams Family Tree. This is by design! It doesn't' matter! And it shouldn't matter!

The Addams family is, deliberately, and inversion of the nuclear family, an antithesis. It's horizontal, democratic, without hierarchies, it's open, it has no definite borders, the relations among members are fluid, and the glue that holds it all together is love not blood.

There are hybrids and monsters in the family, people from different races and sizes and colors - Morticia is coded Jewish, Gómez is canonically "Castillian" (read Spanish/Latino), Itt is Itt, etc, etc -It is all a huge metaphor! The Addams family is hybrid, international, interracial, immigrant, queer, weird and proud of it... in the US of the 1960's!

And it should be even more now!

This is why it is so shocking that there are no canonically queer characters in Wednesday (2022)! It makes no damn sense!

(Yes, I know, Eugene's moms -background characters irrelevant to the plot, an afterthought to fill a quota...)

It says a lot about how conservative/evangelical American TV has become over the last few years.

watched the Addams Family Values (1993) film yesterday and let me tell you: I knew Morticia and Gómez were absolutely obsessed with each other. But everytime they even looked at each other I wanted to rip my heart out and eat it, because they looked so so in love 😭 They are absolutely perfect in every way and I want whatever they have so so bad.

And then I cried even more when Wednesday and Pugsley were sent to summer camp and met the Jewish boy with allergies (I forgot his name) And then how adorable he was with Wednesday. And it made me so so sad because no boy understood me or my quirks as a kid. And he's so so kind and they're so lovely together (even though she said she'd scare him to death <3)
