Happy STS! Just stopping but with a writing question for today :) How do you conceptualize a scene? What do you start with when trying to craft a scene?

Happy STS to you too, I hope your day was/is/will be good !

To conceptualize a scene, I need a lot of time, first I need to see if it flows "right" in my mind, do the dialogues sound natural? What is the setting? Does one character appear in the room like it's a play, or did it start in media res with the character already there? Which pov do I follow? Then I make a bullet list of all these observations and then

decide if I want to add symbolism through colors and various elements, and then I start to build it idea by idea, until the words can convey the image/movie I envisioned !

I also always follow the same path : setting (background, furniture, lighting), people involved (naming, showing how many are in the scene, how do they feel about one another), then movement (feelings, dialogues, actions) !

(Note to self : This might be because I'm a huge Mauriac fan, Thérèse Desqueyroux was amazingly crafted.)

My name is Gabriel, I'm a 28 years old disabled agender person. I have ADHD, BPD, generalized anxiety, chronic depression and untreated PTSD. I am an artist, and I have no other job besides this one, for now.

This is my girlfriend, Olivia. She is 30, agender just like me, disabled just like me. She has BPD as well as untreated PTSD, and she is autistic.

For the last three years, we were surviving thanks to a monthly allowance she was given due to her being disabled and unable to find or keep a job. This allowance has been stopped due to her being judged "not disabled enough" and "capable of finding a job". She isn't. I don't want to give too many details about our life, but she is currently deeply incapacitated and cannot work. She has asked to get her autism diagnosed on a psychiatric level, which is necessary for her to be given the proper care for her issues.

We will now be given an allowance for job seekers. But we have learned today that this allowance, for the next two months, will be much less than it usually is because of complicated details I do not have the right mind to explain right now.

We will be given around 700€ for a month. 1400€ total, for the months of March and April. You can imagine how 1400€ for two months is a ridiculously low amount of money for two people.

I will try to find a tiny job that is compatible with my own struggles. In the meantime, getting help from other sources will really, really come in handy.

I AM AN ARTIST. I DRAW DIGITAL ILLUSTRATIONS, AND I AM OPEN FOR COMMISSIONS. ALTHOUGH I AM STILL STRUGGLING TO GET OUT OF A HIATUS, I WOULD BE VERY HAPPY TO GET MORE COMMISSIONS. HERE ARE A FEW EXAMPLES OF WHAT I CAN DRAW.

I agree about Gege honestly I dropped jjk manga because it's just so chaotic now and not in a good way. I know there are people who like character deaths, but with jjk it happens so much for no significant reason. It just feels like shocking value and not really for the sake of the story and its development.

I get that having stakes is realistic, but at this point the deaths are just whatever. I don't feel attached to anyone anymore, and it feels like Gege doesn't care about his own characters (and I don't mean that in a quirky ~ lol he hates gojo so much he's so funny ~ kinda way. Of course it's his story so he can do whatever he wants, so I guess that's that. Good for him getting that far, if this is really how he wants the story to go.

It's just too bad because I liked jjk a lot early on in the story. So many characters had a lot of potential but he just gets rid of them just because he can. It's not enjoyable anymore.

But no matter, people are still gonna fight to death to say that jjk is the best shonen manga right now 🤭

RIGHT??!! And it's frustrating because you see the potential there and know it could be so much better if the author didn't go into destruction mode with every volume. yuji is one of my favorite characters and deserves so much better, I don't understand why they throw it away and mock someone who should, at some point, get a fucking break. he only loses and fails, no matter how hard he tries. not to mention gojo, who is 70% of the manga's success and was killed in a battle he SHOULD have won????????????? and im not a hater ok, i love jjk, the female characters are well-written, the fight scenes are good enough (um not that I exactly understand how the fights work. I don't know if I'm too dumb or if it's deliberately overly complicated) and gege is so talented!! but seeing something that could be incredible become confusing and mediocre it's just sad

anyway I intend to finish the manga because I don't want to believe yuji won't have a happy ending (delusional) but if he doesn't, gege better be prepared for the consequences (angry posts he'll never read)
