Mr Rime's buttons blink when attacking or being attacked, his "eyes" never do, and one of the cards imply it breathes from the chest. That outfit is the actual face, it has a false head. That's why I'm posting this one out of order, it's the next spooky pokemon in line. Nothing with a false head trying to lure children to it is good. Mime Jr and Mr Mime are fine though, honestly Legends Arceus warmed me up to them. Apparently fear of clowns is near unheard of in Japan. Guess they don't have an uprising clowns every couple years, like the East Coast USA has for the past half century. Seriously, every few years for the past 60 we've had waves of people in clown costumes with machetes start appear. Rarely ends in any death, they're generally just trying to terrify people. Anyway, these clowns are here to make a fool out of wizards, so time for encounter ideas!
-Mime Jr are rascally but typically harmless, just following children around to play and harmless pranks. Lately things have been going missing from those it interacts with. (the townsfolk think it's mime jr, but it's actually a thief/monster taking advantage of the distraction) -Mr Mime are the jesters of the archfey courts. When the townspeople stopped leaving out offerings for her pixies, the jester was sent to make fools out of the town. Make this a mystery, the players have to figure it's a fey and how to contact/appease them. Or just fight the Mr Mime, but it will definitely retreat and keep coming back to harrass the town, good luck with that. And with retribution should they kill the court's jester. - Galarian Mr Mime have taken up residence in the local lake, kicking anyone more focused on ice fishing than their performance. The locals need help driving them off, either by appeasing them or attack. (bonus points- the Mr Mime becaomes a Mr Rime when they reach low health, refilling health like a Mythic Trait or a video game boss) - Mr Rime has been entertaining the village with its antics. People chalk up the frozen body appearing to yetis or winter wolves, relying on the entertainer for joy in this trying time. The Mr Rime is behind these disappearances, occasionally following the last member of its audience home to launch a cone of cold.

Forbidden Alphas!
Tumblr media
I finally finished my Alpha collection of Alphas forbidden to return home to Hisui. Functionally, it's Pokemon that have at least one non-regional form in the family that will evolve differently depending which game they're currently in. *But* importantly they still contain the Alpha flag in their programming, you can see it in Home if you view their summary in P:LA mode
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alpha Mime Jr. from Hisui become Galarian Mr. Mime and Mr. Rime in Galar.
Alpha Cyndaqui/Quilava become Jhotonian Typhlosian in Sinnoh.
Alpha Petilil become Unovan Liligant in Galar (Post IoA update)
Alpha Rufflet become Unovan Braviary in Galar.
Alpha Goomy become Kalosian Sligoo and Goodra in Galar.
Alpha Bergmite becomes Alpha Kalosian Avalugg in Galar.
Alpha Rowlett/Dartrix becomes Alpha Alolan Decidueye in Galar.
And Oshawott is there in case Gen 9 adds Unovan Samurott in the games, to round out the set. Not 100% sure the Alpha flag will stay in the Pokemon file programming but eh, this was an easy contingency to anticipate... I don't know if this collection will ever be future-proofed.
Regional Forms aren't seeming to be going away so if Gen IX doesn't remove the flag from the programming, then some day I may need a duplicate set of Alphas for regional Pokemon that I can't just catch and transfer if Home on the Switch is shut down. But at the very least I have the Pokemon that this applies too right now, and that makes me happy.

The Mr. Mime Family
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mr. Mime stands as one of the first generation’s most despised designs, even by hardcore ‘genwunner’ fans. I can’t say I don’t see why this might be, even if Mr. Mime isn’t anywhere close to the top of my least-preferred designs in the series.
Mr. Mime does have a couple weirder, more unpleasant features, like its frog-like tipped fingers, pink orbs connecting its limbs to its body, and unusually thin, spindly arms compared to its bulbous body. The fact that it looks especially stiff and flat in its artwork doesn’t help matters. Again, I see where people’s dislike of Mr. Mime comes in.
Tumblr media
Me, on the other hand, I think there’s still a decent level of charm here. I think a majority of the problems come from the official Ken Sugomori art serving as the core reference for most of Mr. Mime’s official media depictions, there’s numerous examples in the Trading Card Game where other artists are able to make Mr. Mime look far more appealing and natural.
Mr. Mime is also a Psychic type (and would even gain a secondary Fairy typing in the sixth generation!), cleverly using its psychokinetic energy to make all the invisible walls and objects it pantomimes around real and physical during battle, while still being completely invisible to the opponent. This is nothing really new for mimes in games and animated shows, of course, but it is still enjoyable to see it put into Pokemon and done with mind-bending powers as well.
Tumblr media
Mr. Mime also featured in a scene in Pokemon’s first live action movie, Detective Pikachu, where it was interrogated by the main characters, who of course had to guess everything it was trying to tell them as if they were playing charades. It’s quite the entertaining scene, and I do implore you to look it up and watch it if you haven’t already. Mr. Mime is animated with some really amusing expressions, with an extremely odd and almost unnerving interpretation to its design which really strengthens its oddball factor.
Also, the ending of this scene deserves special mention. I won’t spoil it if you haven’t watched it yet, but it is pretty surprising and even distressing knowing that what Mr. Mime pantomimes is quite real.
Tumblr media
Come the fourth generation, Mr. Mime would receive a baby evolution in Mime Jr. Now this thing is pretty unquestionably cute if you ask me, being a tiny little clown that mimics people at any given opportunity, practicing its miming skills for when it evolves.
It does fit in a strange sort of way to connect a clown and a mime through an evolutionary family like this, but I would like to still see another Pokemon who emphasizes more of the recognizable features of a clown than Mime Jr. does, who leans pretty heavily on the pantomiming to keep in line with its evolution.
Still, Mr. Mime and Mime Jr. have a lot of unique charm all around that keeps me from disliking them much.
Score: 4/5
Tumblr media
Bon excentriques.
Tumblr media
Then, once the eighth generation hit store shelves, Galarian Mr. Mime was revealed to the world. It trades its secondary Fairy typing for Ice, now resembling a snowman in its appearance. The even thinner arms are likely supposed to support this interpretation, resembling thin twigs or branches used for snowman building.
It’s pretty different from Mr. Mime on the whole actually, when you look closer at it. The body is much larger and rounder, the legs and shoes are now more precisely designed, and the face is even decorated with different makeup. Those shoes, by the way, are supposed to give way to Mr. Mime new second trait, where it tap dances wherever it goes.
I’ll be honest though, I don’t quite get Galarian Mr. Mime. I do appreciate Game Freak finally adding in a snowman design after eight generations, but what does the tap dance angle have to do with it? Well, maybe the regional evolution (yeah, Mr. Mime got one too) will answer that question.
Tumblr media
Unique to the Galarian form is the evolution Mr. Rime, titled the Comedian Pokemon. It tap dances even more professionally than Mr. Mime does, and has a cane and bowler hat to really fit into its new home in the Britain-equivalent Galar region. Additionally, given the title and bowler hat, as well as its new mustache, Mr. Rime seems to be a dead ringer for famous entertainer Charlie Chaplin.
Forgive me, though, for feeling like Mr. Rime is one of the most prime examples of official Pokemon designs that really don’t feel like Pokemon. Perhaps that’s silly to say considering that Mr. Rime was still designed by Game Freak staff members, but everything between its specific-celebrity basis and unusual second stomach-face make Mr. Rime feel extremely out of place alongside most of the rest of Pokemon’s catalog. Imagine seeing one of those Pokemon copycats and a design in them was rather obviously based on Arnold Schwarzenegger, or something. I’d wager you’d be baffled and say “something like that would never show up in MY Pokemon!” It is pretty apparent that Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee from earlier were named after celebrities, Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee respectively, but it’s not like that was reflected by their designs at all.
Hell, if you remove those bat-like hair tufts from the sides of its head, there’s almost little to no resemblance between Mr. Rime and Mr. Mime. Those little yellow eyes even blink, alongside Mr. Rime’s normal face too. That just raises a ton of questions about how this thing is supposed to work.
Score: 1.5/5
Tumblr media
Sorry, Mr. Rime, but nothing about you really makes me laugh.

Impidimp Update
I didn’t find an Impidimp, but I DID find and Catch its evolution Morgrem. In related news, I had to stop by a hospital in Hammerlock because the mfer got me with the hair-spear. It hurt like a mother fucker, but was but a flesh wound. Got it checked and left. I’ll be fine, wasn’t even bleeding really, but did need stitches. For reference, fucker stabbed out at me from the brush. Honestly, I respect it.
I’ll now use this opportunity to give a little team update! (Epsilon is being omitted because neither of us have caught them)
My Team:
Suki is still herself. She did get REALLY concerned after I caught the Morgrem though, due to her seeing the wound.
Nature: Quirky
Ability: Filter
Moves: Frost Breath/Psybeam/Teeter Dance/Shadow Ball
Crawler is still a giant sleepyhead. Hell, couple of random trainers we encountered on the way up to the Mushroom Forest commented on how he’s the chillest Drednaw they’ve ever seen! The biggest difference between him before and him now is that he’s the about size of the coffee table back at our place.
Nature: Lax
Ability: Strong Jaw
Moves: Crunch/Razor Shell/Counter/Ice Fang
Brownie is still a joyful little goober. She’s very playful with everyone while still being protective to us (or at least attempting to given how she’s a Rockruff). She still gets on really well with Suki and Crawler, and has really gotten close with Baron.
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Vital Spirit
Moves: Howl/Rock Throw/Mud Slap/Bite
Baron has definitely let up on the edgy loner thing he had going on, though he’s still cautious of newer faces. He’s also still a bit of a dick, but that’s fine.
Nature: Lonely
Ability: Gluttony
Moves: Night Slash/Pin Missile/Counter/Headbutt
Pimple is a greedy little asshole, but like, in a kinda endearing way. They also bites a lot. Trying to get them to stop. (I’m use neutral pronouns for Pimple because I still haven’t gotten around to figuring out their sex, though they don’t seem to mind them so I may just keep referring to Pimple gender neutrally.) They like eating and trying to egg on Baron into fights. I’m also trying to get them to stop doing that.
Nature: Naughty
Ability: Hunger Switch (obviously)
Moves: Bite/Flatter
The new Morgrem I’ve named Gaz Drek. Idk why, just felt like it. I haven’t had Gaz out to much, but he seem like a mischievous and also prideful type. He have definitely shown a habit of lashing out when he gets agitated, which is concerning. Trying to calm his short fuse at least a bit.
Nature: Rash
Ability: Frisk
Moves: Fake Out/False Surrender/Swagger/Sucker Punch
Then there is Vi’s team:
Mari is her usual playful and kind self. She’s very chill (no pun intended). Pretty protective though. She’s also got some fun sass on her. She kinda reminds me of Vi’s sister now that I’ve met her lol.
Nature: Sassy
Ability: Curse Body
Moves: Destiny Bond/Hex/Ice Beam/Will-O-Wisp
Hexed is a little clingy baby. We love him. Mari has basically taken the little dragon under her wing, and it’s really cute! Little guy really likes battling, but isn’t very good at it due to how incredibly baby he is. He’s trying his best!
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Infiltrator
Moves: Curse/Infestation/Quick Attack/Disable
Vi is honestly not the type I’d really expect to pick up a Stonjourner, but alas Stanley is here! Stanley is… honestly the best way I can sum him up is that he’s just… Stanley. He’s definitely friendly, and tries his best to be helpful, but that’s all I can really put into words about Stanley. Honestly, this living pile of rocks kinda radiates himbo energy and I’m here for it.
Nature: Gentle
Ability: Power Spot (obviously)
Moves: Gravity/Rock Slide/Wide Guard/Low Kick
Fun trivia fact! Vi DOES NOT have an actual Rotom Phone! Turns out her “Rotom Phone” was actually one of those Porygon Phones that a wild Rotom decided to take over (we were under the impression it was just a really old model). We figured this out when we had to go to a fuckin shop in… Motostoke I think is the place’s name? The cool steam powered city. Anyway, we had to stop by because her phone was refusing to unlock. When we got there, they employee who helped us very kindly explained the situation, and even let Vi keep the Rotom after catching it to get it out the device. (The problem was that the Rotom apparently took over the unlocking function and completely forgot it did.) So now Vi has Siri the Rotom! He’s a playful (if shy) little guy! Makes me kinda wish I could get the Rotom in my phone (but you know, those Rotoms are technically owned by the phone company…)! So yeah! Rotom! (Siri still usually chills in Vi’s phone.)
Nature: Bashful
Ability: Levitate (obviously)
Moves: Discharge/Hex/Thunder Wave/Synchronoise (Foul Play)
So yeah.
//ooc: Enter the Electric/Psychic Rotom-Com. It's a Porygon Phone, but showing the traces of being under Rotom Control. Unfortunatly, you have to deal with Synchronoise as you move.
