You know what? At this point, the Fairy Tail fandom deserves a movie completely Nalu centric like what Naruhina got.

If you're not gonna develop their relationship in the main storyline, then end 100 Years Quest with a next gen reveal. Then give us the movie with Natsu realizing he's in love with Lucy and Lucy realizing she's in love with him. Give us a situation where there's a chance they may never be together again, give us the emotional push the two of them need. Then have them confess. Make it happen.

Because while these moments are great, nothing ever comes of them. Getting a single Nalu hug at the end of an arc or movie is not enough. Because the two of them do not have an exchange even remotely close to a love confession. Its why this ship is not my favorite in Fairy Tail. Because they are the only couple of the main five that have no confirmed romantic interest in eachother. And yet they are the most popular. So yea give us that movie.

Ummm I'm not very deep in HH fandom, but my dearest @naromoreau forced me (lovingly) into huskerdust asdfkjskfs I think they're very cute, and as much as I loved their dynamic before ep 4 (well it's just Angel dust not respecting Huskers boundaries, but I'll be honest. annoyed kitty is adorable) I'm happy with them being genuinely good friends now. I can see the romance blooming later too (they def need some time tho) and the ✨angst✨ when one of them gets to be an angel hehehehehheehhhh

For other ships, I LOVE Charlie and Vaggie but Vaggie and Lute (as one sided love from lute) have such a toxic yuri potential akfjskfjskdjk I'm not big on other popular ships but Lucifer and Lilith's size difference is very endearing to me... Uuuummmmmmm?????? I don’t like the theory that Link is dead in MM. it doesn’t make any sense to me and is canonically not true. Tho that one doesn’t seem to be very popular anymore, especially since Zeltik talked about it. Aight Linebeck is not as big of a coward as people say he is. Yes he doesn’t want to go into the dungeons, but when he’s on sea, he is NOT a coward. When an enemy pops up, instead of going like “waaah monster!” He’s more like “enemy spotted!” He faces the challenges on sea head on and encourages you everytime with it. It’s actually quite sweet. The bosses you have to fight on sea also prove this cuz Linebeck is cheering you on the entire time. He’s not cowering in fear or crying or whatever, heck, even if you die, he sorta accepts his fate in a dramatic manner. I feel like Linebeck is someone who can’t think. If he’s in a position where he thinks about a situation, he overthinks and gets scared. But when he’s thrown into a situation and he has to be quick on his feet, he thrives really well and comes off as courageous! On the sea, there is no time for thinking. An enemy pops up and you have to kill it, so Linebeck doesn’t think and goes to deal with the problem. With the bosses? The ship is down so he doesn’t think, he goes to fix the ship while Link shoots at it. The entire battle with Bellum he is just cheering you on and telling you helpful things and I can’t label him only as a coward cuz of that. Because he’s not. On land, things are slowed down for him and he starts to think about the dangers ahead of him, but on sea? He’s a different person! So when Linebeck said “I was just caught up in the moment” to ciela towards the end, he genuinely meant it. He saw Link in danger and didn’t have time to think about anything. He grabbed that sword and saved Link’s life, tho I do feel like there was some thinking involved cuz he was terrified, but hey, he needed an arc! He needed the courage to fight back even when scared! So yeah, there’s my huge ramble. Linebeck my beloved

I don't think I'm breaking new ground when I say this but, don't ya'll know that Dark Choco met Milk when he was a child?- Dark Choco had to be a late teenager to young adult when he met him, while Milk is somewhere around 6 to 8 years old, judging by the silhouette sprite in Dark Choco's flashbacks.

Other than that incredibly gross age gap, I genuinely think that this ship is not healthy, especially for Milk Cookie. He puts Dark Choco on such a high pedestal that I'll bet that he'll often beat himself up for not being more like his idol. Along with the fact that Milk's simpery doesn't really feel like a crush, more like an obsession. He wants to be just like Dark Choco Cookie, not actually be with him as a partner. That isn't healthy. I'll bet whenever Dark Choco finally meets Milk, he'll just flat-out tell him that he's not the person he thinks he is, with Milk soon realizing that he wasn't and being more than disappointed.

He wants him to be JUST like the Dark Choco Cookie that he thinks he is, when, in reality, he really isn't. That kind of relationship is not healthy for all parties involved! Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the people who do ship this! Not at all! As long as their version of the ship is healthy for all parties involved, then I'm fine with it.

Am I reading too much into a cookie run ship? Yes, 100%. But, I honestly don't get why this ship is so popular when you take everything I just said into account.

honestly. if I could enjoy prsk perfectly in a vacuum with no fandom influence whatsoever, I'd like them a lot more, but I am just so so tired of the rampant misogyny in this fandom; in a cast where girls outnumber the boys 4 to 1, they're constantly overlooked and pushed aside anyway. like, one look at the ao3 tags really says all you need to know:

ruikasa has more than double the amount of fics the most popular wlw ship has. and there's not even the main character excuse like a lot of other fandoms have; everyone gets the same amount of attention in-game.

it's not like this problem is unique to this fandom, but man is it noticeable and especially egregious when the ratio is so off. and it's really not the ship's fault, but unfortunately the oversaturation of it has made me not exactly its biggest fan.

on a canon level tho! I do genuinely enjoy certain moments between them, and I absolutely see their appeal (the end of the pandemonium event especially comes to mind. very good scene for them both). and I adore polysho so it's not like I don't ship them in some capacity lol.

I'm just not wild about them, and it's not like the fandom is hurting for content for them, so I don't feel particularly inclined to do much for them by way of art or discussion, y'know.

Even tho I write Trolls fanfic and am known for digging through every tag in a fandom/ship on AO3; I actually have only read a few fics for Trolls.

I'm hyper selective of fics and a ton of the Trolls fanfiction is written by kids or the formatting just isn't good. I've tried reading some of the most "popular" fics (like eldest and youngest I think it's called) and I just didn't like how they read

Don't get me wrong. I'll literally read anything, especially if people send me it. I have 1413 bookmarks, which tbh is a lot compared to others. I don't bookmark every fic I read, only ones I think are worth a reread or I'd want to read again. Fanfiction is genuinely one of my favorite fan mediums so I'm very finicky about it

But for some reason, Trolls fics just ain't doing it for me. This is the first fandom where majority of the fics are just written by kids or I don't enjoy the formatting/style at all. JasicoWhatHaveYouDoneToMe is probably the only author that has me going back to see if there's a new fic (her latest one, the feral Poppy and Branch one, I can't read because it triggers my PTSD but I LOVE her writing. Genuinely if you're not a kid and want good fics, hit her profile up)

Whooooo boy do I have a lot to say about this... I highly encourage everyone to read this entire post.

So, my thoughts on BillFord are extremely complicated. I am, first and foremost, a FiddAuthor shipper. That is the ship I consider canon and I even headcanon Bill to be aroace and actively encourage Ford and Fidds to get together because Ford needs to get over stupid societal homophobia plus it's fun to wear down the human's moral compass about hitting on a married man.

BillFord is a FASCINATING concept and it's not hard to see why the ship is as popular as it is despite the (well-deserved) stigma; a lot of things between them that can be read as fuel to the shipping fire. (ie the hair ruffles, the nose flick, the nicknames, the gold statue, the piano serenade, Ford being attracted to the strange, Bill offering to make Ford "one of us," even the possibly kinky undertones of glowy blue chains and bodily possession)

But the problem is that the ship can get very nasty very fast. Make no mistake, what Bill does to Ford is abuse. He is manipulative and violent and cruel. "Mystery bruises?" Literally torturing Ford on screen? Driving a wedge between Ford and his support system to the point that he has extreme trouble trusting people? Preying upon Ford's insecurities about being a freak? That is horrifying stuff, in particular because of how clear the parallels are to real world abuse.

With that in mind, let me talk about KMKY. I loved this fic to pieces. It’s written and organized incredibly well with a good mix of humor, sentiment, tragedy, and villainy without ever feeling off-balance tonally. The best thing about this fic, however, is the mature and nuanced themes about abuse: how hard it is to still love your abuser even when you start realizing that they're as bad as they are, accepting that you're a victim and have no reason to apologize, how an abuser's own trauma isn't an excuse for their actions. I really appreciate that the author has sympathy for Bill while still clearly acknowledging that "hey, what Bill did to Ford was abuse and Ford doesn't have to forgive him, much less take him back." A lesser writer would force Bill and Ford together, but that's not what happens because it's not what should happen.

So, for anyone who is interested in reading it... The gist of it is that instead of inviting Fiddleford to work on the portal, Ford makes a body for Bill to assist in person. The first 33 chapters develop their relationship (ft. Fiddleford being confused and stressed) and then Ford finds out Bill has been lying and eventually goes through the portal. It is very much a romance but the writing is so good that there are times when it's genuinely heartbreaking that the two of them won't work out.

I would definitely say that Bill is the main character (even though Ford has a significant amount of viewpoint time and he's the one you're supposed to root for) because he's the one who changes throughout the story. It's not a positive change, but it is an extremely compelling character arc. The characterization of Bill in this fic is particularly cool to me because he’s definitely a complete person, but he’s very clearly inhuman.

A little preview/incentive to read it: all of Bill’s underlings have individual personalities, Jheselbraum is a super important character and her characterization is... really cool (that's not a good description, but I was in love with it), the worldbuilding of all the places Ford visits in the multiverse was really cool and fun, there are great OCs like Wendy's mom, this mob boss guy that is a delight to hate, and a sarcastic kick-ass alien lady, Bill's backstory is really impactful, Pyronica is a bad bitch, Bill and Ford fight zombies while We Go Together from Grease plays in the background, there are cool themes about enjoying the mundane things in life and how society treats the Strange, and well-written humor that had me laughing out loud constantly. For as long as it is, all of it was extremely memorable and hardly any of it felt like filler. (I will warn you if you choose to read it, there is some serious steam.)

As for the ending... I totally understand why the author stopped writing it. They were trying to make it canon-compliant, but by the time it caught up to the show it was very clear that adhering to the canon material was holding them back. They did their best, but I could tell they weren't enjoying writing it and if you're not enjoying your art, then I don't think it's worth doing.

I’m gonna rank the couples in The Lunar Chronicles and explain why because I’m immensely bored I apologize in advance. And also just because it’s in a lower position doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing like there are only 4 spots-

Also SPOILERS FOR THE SERIES-

4th PLACE

WOLFLET- it’s the whole alpha thing that caused this I’m sorry like they need a lil more screen time and a lot less calling each other alpha. But I did really love them just not in the book Scarlet. I loved them in Cress and Winter when they were separated and it was just immense amounts of pining and I think they’re the most solid/loyal couple in the series like they’d do anything for each other and I love that. Honestly they’re a top tier couple and I wish we got more time with them like SOSN was peak because we got to see them being domestic and like adjusting I loved it. If they were put up against most other couples then they’d win I swear

3RD PLACE

CRESSWELL-these two were almost in 4th actually cuz they’re one of my least favourite tropes where it’s like “experienced suave guy who’s so hot and elite and older” and like “naive girl who’s never left her house and this is in fact the first human she’s spoken too” but somehow they made it enjoyable like I loved how she was like his sight in Cress and how well they work together. He also helps her come out of her shell and know her worth. I also love the fact that he’s a slut in recovery. They’re also the funniest couple and they also had the most slow burn which I enjoyed and I loved their ending. They’re very fun and again in any other circumstance in other list they’d be higher up (I also don’t like that Thorne’s 20+ and she’s 16 like it’s a lil weird-)

2ND PLACE

JACINTER-ok I’m kinda sad I put them in second and not first but yeah they’re my babies. They’re the best amalgamation of tropes I’ve ever seen like they’re childhood best friends to lovers, they’re forbidden love, they’re sun x moon (LISTEN HEAR ME OUT ON THIS), they’re grumpy x sunshine. I also love how much they genuinely adore each other and fight for each other to be safe as much as possible. They also have immense amounts of chemistry and tension in every scene they’re in. I also love that even though Winter is obviously the most vulnerable one in the relationship it doesn’t feel like he’s constantly doting on her like it feels equal like she doesn’t feel like a child being taken care of because of her mental health. I could talk about them hours like the pining the immense pining and the way they talk about and to each other it’s so beautiful like I miss them sm and they’re not popular enough like they’re the cutest I also have a headcanon that when they both move to Earth Jacin eventually retires from being her bodyguard and goes to medical school and they get to grow old somewhere where it always snows.

1ST PLACE

KAIDER- I love them they’re my favourite book couple ever actually like they’re like the first couple I ever genuinely shipped. And they were perfect in EVERY BOOK LIKE I WAS STRAPPED ON THIS TRAIN WITH THEM THEYRE SO ENDEARING AND PERFECT. Like ugh I genuinely had no notes on them for like bad stuff that I didn’t like. Like as I’m typing I’m think of criticism??? They’re so loyal to each other it’s makes me wanna BAWL AND THEYRE SO IN LOVE IT JUST YES. One of the main reasons I love them is because we had the two of them for so long like in Cinder it was only two POVs (if you don’t count Dr. Erland) and we got to see how they felt constantly and they’re such lil idiots and I love them like they’re it. I also love how much they compliment each other and bring out the best parts in the other if that makes sense like Kai learns a lot from her.They did almost lose to Jacinter tho and it came VERY CLOSE

Bowser x Peach. I sincerely do not see anything there but toxic traits on Bowser's part and genuine distaste on Peach's. If you ship it, that's fine, I don't judge or anything like that, I just don't see the chemistry others do.

I was going to talk about Mario himself, but that's been pointed out a few times recently.

BUT Oh my goooooooosh. People get Wario wrong ALL THE TIME. I always hear how generically evil he is because of his greed.

That's it tho, his greed makes him do bad things, but he's not a bad man. He's flawed.

Like, why would you want him to be irredeemably greedy and nasty anyway? It's much more interesting for him to be more complex as a character...

Wario does a lot of bad things, don't get me wrong, but he has a LOT of positive traits in both of his series.

I could rant in deep detail about this for a long time but I'll try to be brief with it.

Wario's friends clearly see something in him that they find as admirable and this is found in the Instruction Manuals, the games themselves, and other outside info like game websites and such.

This twitter thread sums up a lot of the moments, but even it doesn't cover everything he's done that's for his friends and selfless.

TL;DR: Wario is a man who is rude and crude, but only does bad things when his greed gets the best of him.

And I struggle sometimes because “do not fight literal children” is a rule I try to live by lmao but I also really don’t like seeing people target and mock folks for harmless fun. People are not bothered because they’re disconnected from reality and think they’re really married to a pixel man, they’re upset because life is hard enough and you come into your hobby space to have a good time and then find lame ass idiots infesting it. I also think the whole “ohhh my god why are you so upset he’s/she’s not real!!” is a blatant attempt to discredit the hurt parties by once again insinuating that they are “crazy” which once again conveniently ignores multiple realities, chiefly that 1) most people are not upset by a simple opinion that their fave wouldn’t fuck them IRL, they are upset at the blatant meanness of the person making the accusations and 2) even if they are genuinely hurt by the thought because it’s a coping mechanism for them, why does that make it okay for you target them? What gives you the right to harass and mock people who are not bothering you? Do these people think they’re doing these folks a ‘favor’ by forcing them to contend with what they perceive to be some kind of delusion? Shut the hell up. Why do people decide it is their god given right to hold strangers on the internet accountable for psychological “problems” that they’ve completely made up.

Genuine question. Why is crocbug so much more popular than bughawk even tho both basically started at cross guild from the same interactions? I don’t get it

I mean, sometimes ships are popular just because and there is nothing like, deep behind it. But as somebody who actually does enjoy Crocbug more than Bughawk (even tho I still prefer the three of them together in general bc they're my pookies and there is no way they aren't together): I think people prefer shipping Buggy with Crocodile because he follows more the whole "mafia" personality and he's way easier to like, understand as a character than Mihawk? I guess? These are just guesses ngl. The only reason I like Crocbug more myself is because I like the dynamic better and even though I love Mihawk he is not like, my favorite from the trio? Also idk, maybe the size difference and the fact that people are extremely horny for Crocodile has something to do with the fans wanting to ship him. Bughawk is still an amazing ship tbh I honestly always just assume the three of them are married.

See above (tho idk if that counts as 'everyone' lol). But speaking of Gaius, I can't stand ship stuff where he's portrayed as (genuinely, not like as part of play) super dominant/pushy/rapey. Like yeah he's pretty intimidating and looks like he'd be the type if you only have a very surface view of him, but considering his history I can't see him not being really careful about the power dynamic. Plus come on, he's a big softie deep down (one good thing of X2's portrayal of him is showing more of that side of him). Tho again idk if that counts as 'everyone', just that I've seen it often enough to dislike it...

Gaiwin, tho it's not popular due to small number of ppl actually interested it rather than people disliking it.

For the latter, Jumilla. Like I can get preferring other ships and stuff, but the amount of vitriol it sometimes gets when it's such a well-balanced, mutually respectful and caring couple is sad to see. It's also not much of a threat to other ships considering the ending (on top of being rather low-key on the actual canon romance stuff aside from a few scenes here and there), so I don't get the need to put it down to prop other ships up :/

hi rae, i was wondering if there was any specific reason for y regulus is the first one to leave/rebel in atwmd, and sirius being the one who is the most dedicated to being a death eater, bc their roles r inversed from what they r in canon, and im curious if there is a reason y u chose to do that or it was just something that worked better for the narrative (just to be clear bc the marauders fandom is a bit weird, this is a genuine question, im not shitting on your characterization)

lol appreciate the clarification dw tho i get what ur asking! it's mostly explained in the fic in pt ii + the reg pov ch, but happy 2 summarize & explain the thought process etc.

atp i no longer remember if i was planning 2 have reg be working w the order or just be dead when i first started the fic, but i decided pretty early on that i wanted him 2 have a locket-arc similar 2 canon & to be seemingly dead when the fic begins bc i love giving s a dead brother <3 & from there i decided it would work better 2 have him secretly be alive + joined up w the order bc that helps explain how s comes around 2 working w them. so then i had 2 figure out how 2 make that fit both their characters!

the thing abt this fic is that i'm still writing it trying 2 preserve like...what i personally view as the characters' core traits/key parts of their personalities from canon, just transplanted into a completely different world. so s is actually still less dedicated 2 the d.e. than reg in this fic; s is essentially forced 2 join the d.e. the way that some parents ship their gay kids off 2 military school (in the u.s. at least), but bc of the way he was coerced into it he resents the d.e. from the beginning & even tho he's internalized many of the prejudices he grew up with he still has a pretty strong moral compass that creates this ongoing internal conflict w what he's doing. at the same time, the power he gets from becoming a higher-ranking d.e. is what allows him 2 then go let loose & like...fuck around + be gay, essentially, without fear of repercussions, bc he can basically do whatever he wants in private (even if it becomes a bit of an open secret) as long as he's got this scary public-facing persona. so he chafes against pureblood society more throughout childhood + into adulthood, but he's also powerful + charming + able 2 succeed in that world.

reg, on the other hand, doesn't rebel the same way s does growing up + kinda flies under the radar, which would be fine in theory--except reg does want 2 be powerful + recognized, & he develops this sort of inferiority complex + almost resentment of his brother in some ways. that's why he compares s 2 a sponge in his pov ch; even tho s kind of protects reg growing up by taking up their parents' negative attention, he also soaks up all the positive attention, and reg ends up feeling forgotten. as they get older, this same dynamic is echoed in school, where s gets shit on 4 being gay but also is undeniably magnetic + talented, and reg doesn't understand why his brother can't just be normal bc he'd be so popular if he didn't insist on like. being so open abt who he is. & then s joins the d.e. + suddenly he's like this entirely different person & everyone is scared + in awe of him, and he doesn't have time 4 reg anymore. & even tho reg has resented him 4 soaking up all the attention, s is also the only person who's actually paid attention 2 reg in turn, and suddenly that's gone, and he feels even more invisible. so he goes + does this fancy difficult alchemy program but even then nobody seems 2 care, so he finally decides 2 join the d.e. himself bc he wants 2 become a powerful + noticeable person the same way his brother is.

so as in canon, reg actively decides 2 join the d.e. in this fic, and wants 2 be there. but when he joins s pulls the same old trick: he starts soaking up all the attention, suddenly becoming one of voldemort's best soldiers. & for s he's trying 2 protect his brother from being noticed + used for horrible things, but bc he's doing such a good job of it reg doesn't even know what he's being protected from, and he resents s 4 stealing the spotlight again. so reg decides he'll have 2 get voldemort's attention some other way, & he starts paying really close attention 2 things + picking up information he probably shouldn't, which leads 2 him figuring out about the horcruxes on his own--but through that process, he realizes how stupid he's been 2 join the d.e. & like...the depths of depravity in the organization, & ironically by trying 2 impress voldemort he's learned way too much & essentially doomed himself, bc he knows voldemort will kill him if he finds out, and he will find out eventually. so in his frustration + hopelessness reg decides "fuck it if i'm gonna die i'm gonna go out swinging" & goes after the horcrux on his own, & that's when the order intercedes bc they've been after this same horcrux, & james saves his life, & then he's like hey wanna join the order. & reg is like well. what else am i gonna do i basically need 2 kill voldemort now if i ever want 2 show my face in britain again.

so even tho this leads 2 reg rebelling + joining the order rather than s, the roles aren't actually meant 2 be inverse to canon! in fact, the reason s doesn't rebel is largely bc he's trying 2 protect his brother, and then once reg is dead he's just kinda going thru the motions. he's a product of his environment & so there's only so far his questioning goes; he disagrees w a lot of pureblood society but doesn't really question the foundational assumptions (wizards + muggles are inherently different; wizards r superior 2 muggles) + still goes along w the path of least resistance even when it eats at him, etc. but ironically from the pov of basically anyone who didn't grow up w them it seems like reg rebelled + joined the order, even tho reg was the one who actually wanted 2 join the d.e. (unlike s!) so their actions kinda flip-flop, but their motivations remain the same as in (my interpretation of) canon: reg decides 2 join the d.e. + then changes his mind + works against them; s acts out against his family + gets punished for it + ends up doing his best 2 protect those he's loyal to + himself--only in this world, when he acts out + gets punished there's nowhere 4 him 2 turn, and the main person he's loyal to is reg, so he has 2 figure out how 2 protect himself & his brother as a d.e. fun!
