Misremembered - A Glitra One Shot
Glimmer and Bow get an unconscious, unresponsive Catra back to the ship while She-Ra takes out the rest of the clones. Left to their own devices Glimmer tries to save the Horde Scum -- Or: My version of what happened between the shot of Catra lying on the floor of the ship and Catra with her head in Glimmer's lap at the end of Save the Cat.
“Over here, lay her down here.”
Bow gently lowered Catra to the floor, taking care to watch her head. Glimmer’s heart raced in her chest, pounding with adrenaline.
We need to get out of here!
Where was SheRa?
By the control center, Entrapta bustled about, fidgeting with wires and tech.
“There you go,” Bow whispered, Catra’s arm fell against her side, her eyes still closed. Glimmer inched over, examining the magicat for any sign of life.
“Bow! Bow I don’t think she’s breathing,” Glimmer’s voice cracked in panic, tearing off her gloves and putting a hand on Catra’s chest. The former Force Captain lay comatose on the cold floor of the ship, unresponsive to all around them.
“W...what?” Bow scooted closer hovering over the magicat with concern. His eyes, already brimmed with tears.
“I...was just carrying her...she was...she was..”  Glimmer gently pressed two fingers to Catra’s neck, willing herself to feel a pulse. There had to be something, anything.
“She’s not breathing!” Glimmer yelled, more frantic then she meant to. She pounded Catra’s shoulders with balled fists.
“Catra! Catra wake up! Please! Adora’s coming,” the princess’s voice fell to an urgent whisper, leaning over the still magicat. “we’re getting out of here just hold on!”
Catra remained unmoved. Lips parted, though no breath came from them.
“Keep talking to her,” Bow instructed, he too removed his gloves, beginning to press down on the magicat’s chest, between her ribs at her sternum. Her body jerked with the movement but remained otherwise limp. Glimmer reached for Catra’s hand, squeezing tight.
“Catra, come on...you’re stronger than this!”  She fought the urge to sob.
Prime, the ship, the clones, returning to her old cell, it was too much. And now this. Catra whom she hated, should hate, did hate. Catra had saved her, had given up what little autonomy she had left and now possibly her life. Why couldn’t the  Force Captain just sell her out to Prime? Why was this so much worse?
Damnit Catra, I really hate you
“That’s not going to work, you have to…” Gimmer swallowed the lump in her throat. Her  eyes flitted down to Catra’s face...her lips. So often twisted in a self righteous smirk, or pulled back to reveal fangs. Now though...they were just there. Neither inviting or denying. She inhaled deeply, thought Glimmer possessed no healing powers, wished she could save Catra the way Catra had saved her. Maybe not with claws and stubbornness but...with stubbornness and..benefit of the doubt? She wasn’t sure.
You hurt Adora, crushed whole kingdoms...killed my mother!
And yet...
… .I can’t just let her die...
“Glimmer?” Bow’s voice snapped her back to reality.
“Help me move her,” Glimmer tilted Catra’s head back further, careful to avoid the chip embedded in the back of her neck. Her tawny hair course and matted. Glimmer pulled her hand back, attempting to position Catra’s head correctly. Her fingers came away crusted with red. She examined the little flecks, wincing when the rusty clumps split into dribbling blood.
“You’re not dying Horde Scum. Not on my watch.”
Glimmer reached for her, one hand cupping the crown of Catra’s head and pinching her nose.
“Keep pressing, count to eighteen then pause, I’m going to try to give her air,” Glimmer instructed. Bow nodded, face tight with renewed determination. It helped to be in charge in times like this. It gave her something to focus on. Something other than the girl laying out before her. The Horde Scum who pulled a switch and broke reality. She channeled the fury, fury that she wanted desperately to save this Force Captain who had hurt so many people. The fear, that she wouldn’t be able to, the fear of Horde Prime,  the rage, the strange sadness, all of it, into direction.
Would mom be proud of me?
“Alright Catra, don’t claw my eyes out,” Glimmer breathed, leaning over her. She almost wished she would. The princess beant close, hoping to feel a ghosting breath but nothing. The Horde Scum simply lay. Glimmer’s stomach fluttered as she leaned all the way down, closed her eyes, and sealed her lips over Catra’s; eliciting a strange heat below her stomach.
She’s...soft?
Catra was warm, but barely. Heat ebbing away. She smelled like acrid liquid and sweat, and blood enough to make Glimmer nearly gag. Still she continued. She breathed, once, twice, three times before breaking away.
“Anything?” Bow asked, forlorn?
Glimmer’s mind spun,
Why isn’t Adora coming?
Why haven’t we left?
What’s wrong with the ship, we should be taking off by now!
“No,” she breathed, trying to steal herself. “Let’s try again.”
This time she put her lips to Catra’s with a determined resolve. Forcing oxygen between them, with little luck.
“Catra,” Glimmer whispered between Bow’s repetitive compressions, “you are not dying on us. I am Queen of Brightmoon, I order you to stay alive.”  Fingers still enticed in Catra’s shorn hair, Glimmer held her tight.
Catra please...
Glimmer tried once more, pushing air into Catra with all she could muster, expecting any short intake of breath, the flutter of eyes, nothing.
“Glimmer,” Bow whispered, “It’s not working.”
She straightened, relinquishing her hold on Catra’s hair, almost like resurfacing from underwater. Breaking away from the intimacy of being so close to her face. Dotted with freckles and almost serene. Gentle. One hand still holding Catra’s, Glimmer gingerly cupped her head and adjusted her knees, cushioning Catra’s vulnerable head in her lap.
“I never got the chance to thank you,” Glimmer whispered, eyes welling as she pulled a loose strand of hair away from Catra’s face and tucked it behind a velvet ear. “I know you were doing it for Adora but still...thank you.”
Blinding white light engulfed the ship. Glimmer instantly tightened her hold on Catra’s body pulling her close and leaning over her.
“She-Ra!”
She looked up, Bow was right. She-Ra strode forth, illuminated in shimmering gold.
She’s back!
Ice blue eyes fixated on the sky ahead, face drawn and unreadable.
“You hear that Horde Scum? She-Ra, Adora, she’s here. You’re gonna be okay.” Glimmer whispered, running her fingers over Catra’s face. Her head felt comfortably heavy in her lap, grounding the princess to reality.
“Darla, get us out of here,” She-Ra ordered.
Glimmer held Catra to her, hovering over her.
“You’re going to be okay,” she reassured herself more than the still girl before her. Catra remained unmoving as ever. A swelling sorrow rose in Glimmer’s gut. She leaned down once more towards the magicat, this time allowing her lips to kiss Catra’s forehead.
“And Darla, make it quick.”
Glimmer offered She-Ra a weak smile. It was the least she could do, slowly transferring Catra out of her embrace. Missing it instantly, but she wouldn’t think about that right now.
“C’mon Catra, you’re not done. Not yet.”
---
“Can I ask you something?”
Glimmer jumped, instantly teleporting and reappearing several feet away.
“Catra! Must you do that?”
“Do what princess? Scare you?”
Glimmer rolled her eyes, folding her arms and fixed the Horde Scum with a glare. The meeting that Catra had been required to attend and then promptly skipped, had just adjourned. Rebuilding plans, wiping out the last of Prime’s rouge clones, Glimmer had been spearheading it all, as was her duty and now Catra just crept up on her out of nowhere.
“What do you want, Horde Scum?” It was only half a joke.
Catra’s tail twitched in amusement.
“I want to ask you something.”
“You already said that,” Glimmer groaned, making her way around the large meeting table and cleaning up the various scrolls. She plucked one up, only to have it tear in the cement grip of Catra’s claws as she slammed her hands down.
“Something serious Sparkles.”
Glimmer made a disgusted noise, dropping and scroll in a fury.
“What?!”
“When you….after we were one the ship and we got away from Prime,” Catra instantly changed from bombastic to blushing, “when I was...out of it,” Glimmer’s face softened watching the magicate struggle for words, ears drooping. “Did you...did you...kiss me?”
That was unexpected.
Blue and golden eyes looked up at her in bewilderment, large and searching.
“I….”
Glimmer swallowed, shifting her weight looking anywhere but at Catra.
“No. I didn’t. I mean...Bow and I got you back to the ship while She-Ra fought off the rest of the clones but I didn’t...we just laid you down and tried to wake you up. But a kiss? You might be misremembering. If anyone kissed you that day, it was Adora.”
Catra nodded, though she looked unconvinced, blinking slowly at Glimmer in a gesture she’d come to understand as friendly and even affectionate.
“That’s too bad, Sparkles. It might’ve woken me up.” Catra turned to leave.
“It didn’t,” Glimmer answered before she could stop herself. The magicat paused, looking over her shoulder with a devilish grin. Heat rose in Glimmer’s cheeks, enough to match the pink flush of her magic.
“So  I wasn’t misremembering?”
“No! You were! I didn’t!”
“Save it Sparkles,” Catra swaggered out of the meeting room with ease. “You already know I’d do the same for you.”
The End

Six Sentence Sunday
How to Quit You - Catra’s having a bad evening. CW: suicidal ideation
Large red cliffs just jutting out of the earth like someone splashed blood all over them. It was a nice big marker. Easy to see and find. Fitting. She turned her gaze back to her watch. She could just stay here and make life easier for everyone, couldn’t she?
“You get right back here, you belong here with me,” Glimmer said so softly, thumbs rubbing circles on her knuckles.
But she didn’t belong no where. She never had. She’d been living on borrowed time from a dead man, and she’d never had the right to be where she was. Just one more thing she’d stolen. One more thing she’d broken. “Please don’t go.”
“Okay,” she huffed, wiping at her eyes. “Okay. After breakfast we’ll see.”
One foot in front of the other.

Day Three: I Can’t Believe You Killed My Mother or I Can’t Believe I Hated You
“Beast!”
“You’ll never be good at anything!”
“Disappointing!”
“Worthless!”
“No! No!”
Catra’s claws were futile against the slick green fluid, like oil sliding against her skin, matting the fur of her tail. She writhed, horde clones pressing down on every inch of her, their clawed fingers digging into her skin, so this is what it feels like…. ? The impossible weight of them baring down on her, despite all her fighting and thrashing. Every scream sent more of the vile substance gushing into her throat, choking and spluttering. Images swam in her head, voices echoed.
“I didn’t open the portal! You made your choice! Now live with it!”
Adora
“You’re a bad friend.”
Scorpia
“You’re a failure,”
Hordak
“No!” Catra screamed, back arching off the slab,
“Easy now Little Sister! All beings must suffer to become pure.”
“I will dispose of you myself.”
Shadow Weaver
Catra squeezed her eyes shut against the harsh blinding light, kicking and throwing her arms as the clones held her down.  Out of the black toil of her racing mind another form emerged. This one shorter, fists ablaze with purple sparkling light. Eyes full of unconquerable rage.
“I can’t believe you killed my mother!”
Sparkles….?!
“No…” she coughed. “I did...I...didn’t know!”
Sparkles. She was safe now. Adora would be safe. This was how it was supposed to be. She knew this was going to happen. Knew it the moment she watched Hordak emerge from that pool. Worse than the evil ruler he’d been, he was nothing. A blank vessel for Horde Prime to inhabit and corrupt.
The hot taste of burning water seared across her mouth as she choked for air, ears ringing.
“Are you saving me?” Sparkles had exclaimed.
“Not you! Adora!”
But in doing so she had saved the princess, and maybe deep down part of her was glad. Not that it could ever make up for what she’d done…
“You killed my mother!”
The sparkly princess screamed into her face, her whole body alight with magic. Catra seized, trying to thwart the clones manhandling her.
“I didn’t know!”
She apologized to Adora, and she’d meant it. It was a cruel trick the stars played on her, that apologizing to Glimmer was somehow so much harder.
“S….sparkles! G...g...glim!” She vomited, coughing and gasped. “Glimmer!” Tears ran down her cheeks, mingling with the thick sloshing water.
“You must purge your pain Little Sister,” the clones changed. “Cast out the shadows, cast out the shadows, cast out the shadows.”
Catra squirmed, contorting desperately in the vat of fluid, it burned, eclectic static stinging through her skin into her body, her mind swarming with the faces of everyone she’d ever hurt.
“Cast out the shadows! Cast out the shadows…”
“No!”
The green water rushed down her throat, flooding her insides with what felt like acid. She kicked, twisting, her head spinning. Fading in and out. In and out…
“Cast out the shadows!”
“You killed my mother, you monster! You’ll never be good at anything. You will never amount to anything. It's no wonder Adora left you. She doesn’t want you. She’ll never love you. You don’t deserve love.”
“Cast out the shadows! Cast out the shadows! Cast out the…”
Catra screamed and the bright green fluid enclosed around her.
Three Years Later
Catra shifted among the lilac sheets, silver moonlight pooling across the bed. She blinked slowly, breathing in the sweet scent of the girl beside her. Her tail curled absently around Glimmer’s calf.
“Hey you,” she mumbled, watching the princess stir awake.
“How long was I out? Is it still nighttime?”
Catra nodded, running her fingers through pink, purple hair. Her locks were soft and shimmering.
“You and Adora, neither one of you can relax enough to get a goodnight’s sleep.” Glimmer giggled, twisting  her arms around Catra’s waist. She buried her face in the girl’s stomach and hummed content. Catra smiled, running her fingertips along Glimmer’s forearm, watching the little goosebumps prickle up. Her skin was warm and soft and gentle, everything Catra never thought she deserved. Everything she never allowed herself to feel. Until now. She held Glimmer tight, pressing her face to the top of the princesses head. A wave of inexorable guilt crashed over her.
“....I killed you mother,” Catra whispered, her voice breaking. Tears edged to her eyes. Glimmer adjusted herself, rolling on to her stomach, chin resting on Catra’s chest.
“My mother made her choice,” Glimmer answered, monotone. She reached her hands up, holding each side of Catra’s face.
“But...I...I opened the portal. Adora was right, that was my fault. I pulled the lever….I…”
“Can I ask you something?” Glimmer whispered against Catra’s lips. She nodded, returning the princess’s kiss with one of her own, though it was tinged with tears. “If you could go back in time...would you do it again? Open the portal?”
Catra’s stomach clenched with that familiar guilt. Guilt that ate at her everyday, though Perfuma’s sessions continuously reminded her that she should be looking forward now, focussing on the future instead of the past. She had tried...was trying to do just that. She’d made amends with Adora, the two of them now best friends somehow once more. She’d even fallen in love with Glimmer. But some things, some things were just too terrible.
“No, of course I wouldn’t!” She answered quickly, kissing Glimmer back with urgency. Wanting to feel her close, wanting to taste her and feel her breath and never ever leave their room. She would never do that ever again...wouldn’t she? Wouldn’t she?
“Are you sure?” Glimmer cocked a brow, fixing her with a look of reproach. Catra scooted up in their bed, pulling the sparkly princess into her lap. She stroked one finger across Glimmer’s jaw, looking into those dazzling eyes. Full of passion and ambition and nobility and no small amount of grit that she loved so much.
“No,” Catra breathed. “No….I’m not sure w..what I’d do...”
Glimmer nodded, sadly, biting her lip, one hand coming up and running through Catra’s hair. She leaned her head on the other girl’s shoulder.
“I love you,” Catra mumbled, reaching up and holding Glimmer to her.
“I can’t believe I hated you,” Glimmer breathed, burying her face in Catra’s neck.
“I’m so sorry,” tears fell down Catra’s cheeks, landing in droplets on her hair. Glimmer looked up, kissing her tears from her face.
“I...I don’t know what I’d do with the portal...b...but if I could...I...I’d take your mom’s place.”
“Shhh….shhhh now, Horde Scum” Glimmer soothed, peppering kisses across Catra’s face. “You don’t have to keep apologizing.”
“I...I don’t know what else to do.”
“You can keep going to see Perfuma, and helping me and Adora and Bow bring magic back to the galaxy. You can keep doing what you’ve been doing.”
Catra nodded, wiping at her face and hugged Glimmer to her.
“Oh, but there is one thing you could do,” she raised a brow in that familiar way Catra recognized.
“Oh really Sparkles?” Her charismatic grin returned.
“Yes,” Glimmer taunted, suddenly pushing Catra down onto the bed and straddling her.
“You can kiss me,”  Glimmer laughed deliciously. Catra obliged.
“You still taste like glitter Sparkles!”
“You love it, Horde Scum!”
Catra grinned wickedly,
“I sure do.”

Day One: Fast Food Joint
“Welcome to Brightmoon Burger home of the Princes ¾ Pounder, how can I help you?” Catra drawled, staring vacant at the customer before her. They all started to look the same after a while. She half-listened to them drawl on with their order, numbly punching the order into her computer.
When does this shift end again?
She glanced at the clock, tail twitching.
Six more hours!?
Damn, Hordak why did he even take this shitty job?!
“Next?”
Catra’s eyes immediately widened, a new light coming to her eye at the site of her next patron with that tell-tale pink and purple hair.
“Sparkles?”  She asked, a mischievous grin coming to her lips.
“Horde scum,” the princess leveled her with the usual look of dubious annoyance.
“What’ll it be, princess?” The last words twisted into a malevolent snarl.  Sparkles maybe Catra’s favorite customer, but only because she was so fun to tease. The truth was Catra hated the glittery cream puff princess. All sparkle, no substance. Damn princess has never worked a shitty job like this a day in her life. She just got to lay around the castle all day, doing nothing except going out and getting shitty fast food.
“Hello?! Horde Scum!”
Catra snapped back to the bratty princess in front of her.
“I’ll have two cheese-burgers and an order of fancy fries.”  Catra tapped the computer before her, nails tip tapping against the screen.
“One veggie burger and a bottle of water, got it.”  She looked up to see Sparkles’s lips quirk in irritation.
“Two cheese-burgers Catra and fancy fries!”
“Uh-huh, sure,” she nodded dismissively waving a hand, punching it in. “order up!”
“Catra!” Sparkles cried, exasperated. Her voice climbed to a pitch that made her ears twitch. She mustered a laugh.
“Order will come out over there,” she nodded towards the counter. Sparkles stared at her, gray-purple eyes narrowing. They were nice eyes...sparkly just like the rest of her. Huh.
Glimmer opened her mouth, then closed it. Fixing Catra with a glare. She turned on her heel and stormed towards the pick-up counter.
Catra watched her go, hips swaying left to right.
“Hey! You! You listening to me? I want a double order of the Swift Wind Slushy.”
Catra turned back to the counter, keeping one eye out for Sparkles order.
“Sparkles! I got an order for Sparkles here!” She screamed far louder than necessary minutes later when the order pinged as ready. She fled from her station at the front counter  and held Sparkle’s bag aloft.
“Sparkles! Woo hoo!”” Catra relished in petty victory watching the princess shuffle forward from the crowd of bewildered customers. All of them staring openly at Princess Glimmer of Bright Moon, now known as Sparkles. She seized the bag, yanking it from Catra’s grip with a curse.
“You’re the worst Horde Scum!” Catra grinned toothily, folding her arms,
“You wouldn’t want me any other way, Sparkles.”
She watched Glimmer bite her lip in fury. Taking the paper bag and scrunching it up with both fists.
“I want you to stop messing with me!”
“But it’s so fun!” Catra teased, she waved as Sparkles began to well...sparkle. In a puff of pink glitter she was gone, leaving the stinking smell of fried food and sweaty patrons.
The light-hearted humor of Catra’s chest settled again into apathy. At least Sparkles was fun. For all her prissy privilege at least she made Catra laugh.
Sparkles should be here by now, Catra mused three days later when there was no sign of the princess. Not that she was counting or anything. She wasn’t. The princess usually made an appearance at least three times a week. But she hadn’t come since the last time.
Maybe I shouldn’t have…
“You’re going to get fired if you keep zoning out like that and not attending to your customers.” That familiar voice brought Catra back to attention.
“Sparkles!” Catra exclaimed, instantly hoping her voice did not betray her, though it clearly already had. Sparkles eyed here with a gleam, this time she was the one smirking all knowingly.
“Miss me, Horde Scum?”
“Pshhh you wish.” Catra distracted herself, staring down at the computer again. “Same order?”
“I was actually thinking of getting a veggie burger and a bottle of water,” the princess mocked. Catra looked up again. Sparkles round, warm face across the counter from her. Since when was the princesses face so...friendly, even when she was taunting her?
“Wait...you serious?”
“Ha! Never! Double cheeseburger and make that a fancy fry and a vanilla shake.”
“Of course you get a vanilla shake,” Catra quickly returned to her bravado, punching in Sparkles order. The princess glanced behind her at the increasingly agitated customers.
“What time do you get off?”
“I don’t know princess, depends on what time I get turned on.”
“What?” A blush seared across Sparkle’s cheeks. Catra threw her head back, cackling.
“Catra!” The grating voice of Hordak came screeching from the kitchen. Catra cringed, looking back to Sparkles with a devious smirk.
The princess, still blushing, threw her coins down on the counter and teleported away.
Catra left for her break as soon as her Airlandia coworker relieved her. She took off the dumb “Bright Moon Burgers,” cap and swunger herself over the counter with carefree ease, eyes trained on Sparkles who sat at the farthest table, finishing off her fries.
“I’m off on break, what do you want?” Catra demanded, hands planted on her hips. Sparkles looked at her, eyes running up and down her form in a way that made heat rise in her chest.
“Sit,” Sparkles getured with a fry. To her own surprise Catra sat, sliding into the booth across from her. The princess pushed the fry basket between them.
“Have some,”
“Are they poisoned?”
“Haha,” Sparkles commented dryly. “You can’t be calling me Sparkles and teasing me in front of people, Horde Scum.” Catra rolled her eyes, though the princess spoke not unkindly. In fact, she was being too nice.
“I’m going to be queen someday, I need my people to respect me.” Catra rolled her eyes, helping herself to a fry.
“You princess,” she scoffed. “All so prim and proper and all about respect and decorum. You’ve never really had to work a day in your life.”
“That’s not true Horde Scum! Believe it or not I’ve had to work really hard! Just in a different way than you...I…” Sparkles twirled a fry between her fingers. She looked around nervously. “Why do you think I come here?” Those purple-gray eyes met Catra’s. Catra shifered, hair rising for some reason she wouldn’t dare name.
“You come here to make my life my interest obviously,” Catra plucked the fry from her grip and ate it, as sultry as she could muster and winked. Sparkle’s cheeks rose in a blush. She looked down at the faded table.
“I come here to get a break. To laugh and have fun and forget about stupid political duties and I come here to….see you.”
The sudden vulnerability made Catra squirm.
“Well…” she started after a few moments, “it’s not like I’m leaving this joint anytime soon.”
Sparkles smiled, a nice smile. Genuine. It made her face light up in a way that set Catra at ease. Like she never wanted that smile to go away. And to think...it was Catra herself who brought out that smile in Sparkles. It made her head spin for a moment. She returned Sparkle's smile with her own wry smirk.
“I’ll go easy on the ‘Sparkles,’if you promise to leave something in the tip jar once in a while, you cheap skate.”  The princess nodded, reaching for the last of the fries. Catra let her do so without any smart comment. She shifted from her seat, standing over Catra.
“I have to get back to my work. But I’ll be back tomorrow, Catra.”
“See you soon, Cream Puff.”
Sparkles rolled her eyes but giggled, the pink sparkles danced across her as she got ready to teleport. Catra watched her form light up and then evaporate. A little twinkle of light settling on her cheeks.

Glitra Week Day Seven: Horde Glimmer Princess Catra
Written for Glitra week on Tumblr! Catra is Princess of Brightmoon, Glimmer is a Force Captain in the Horde. One day she sneaks into the palace to steal Princess Alliance plans. Catra catches her.
“Princess! Princess!” The flustered cries of the guards made her ears twitch.
“What is it?” She demanded, running out into the hall, her tail skirting for balance on the polished floor.
“I...it’s her again your majesty,” Juliet answered, doing her best to compose herself. “She’s made her way to the war room. We tried to apprehend her but she…”
Teleported,
Catra thought, seething. Her mind raced. This was hardly the first time the irritating Force Captain had snuck into the palace, smuggling weapons and stealing alliance plans.
“I’ll find her,” she snapped, turning on her heel without waiting for a reply.
Catra barreled down the brightly lit halls, past her own spacious sleeping quarters up to the main level of the palace and into the war room. She sniffed, trying to make out any detection of glittery sparkly nonsense. Hardly a thing was touched. Chairs still in place, windows shut. Only the absence of papers altered her to the Force Captain’s robbery.  Catra hissed, unsheathing her claws. Her tail twitching.  She sniffed again, eyes shifting around the room.
“I know you’re hiding, Glimmer. I can smell you clear as day,” she forced the name out with a teaming rage.
Catra went stiff, the hair all over her going straight as shimmering tell tale sparkles glistened behind her. She spun, swiping, and cursed as Glimmer’s gloved hand caught around her wrist.
“Hey Princess,” Catra’s eyes narrowed. The force captain smirked, impressed with herself as she tightened her grip around the princess’s arm.
“Let me go, Horde Scum,” Princess Catra wrenched herself away. Glimmer’s laugh echoed among the room, raising the blood in the princess’s veins. The Force Captain pulled a scroll from somewhere behind her red glittering cape. She read it for a moment, her pink, gray eyes alighting with delight.
“So your plan was to continue beating our bots, take samples of them and then what? Make your own? We both know Brightmoon doesn’t have the technology capable of replicating anything close to our designs.”
Catra growled, swiping the paper from Glimmer’s hand in an instant, taking brief satisfaction in the flustered look of Glimmer’s face.
“Why are you doing this?” Catra demanded, fists so tight her own claws nearly bled her palms. Glimmer threw her head back with indignant laughter.
“I have guards out there looking for you,” Catra hissed, “the only reason they haven’t found you is because I haven’t raised the alarm. Now answer me!” Catra threw herself forward aiming to shove Glimmer down into one of the chairs. Glimmer giggled, dissolving into a puff of pink cloudy smoke and reappearing on the other side of the room.
“Why am I doing this? Because I am going to win, and the best way to do that is to find out what your little alliance is planning. Though it doesn’t seem like much of a plan!”
Catra bit her tongue, stalking over to Glimmer and pushing her out of the chair with an unceremonious thud.
“No,” Catra corrected, “why do keep doing this?” Glimmer straightened herself, turning towards Catra and shrugging, leaning against the circular table and jumping up to sit on it casually.
“Doing what princess?” Glimmer coked a brow with an arrogant smile. Catra found herself flushing, watching the force captain’s eyes roam down her figure.
“Doing this,” Catra gestured around the room. “Coming back here! You could get caught, and don’t you have underlings or something to sneak around for you?”
“Sure I do,” Glimmer answered, leaning precariously forward. Catra folded her arms across her chest, suddenly feeling exposed despite her clothing. Glimmer’s round eyes continued to travel from her face, down over the curves of her sides, her hips. Suddenly aware that the Force Captain’s legs were on either side of her, straddling her where she stood.
Wish I could teleport away.
“Guess I just like seeing you flustered, Catra.” Glimmer’s hand reached out, and Catra nearly flinched at the touch of fingertips against her chin. Warm and stubble. Careful.
The princess stiffened, sucking in a quick breath. Glimmer’s fingers delicately traveled up her cheek, almost hesitant. Her cheeks ran hot, tail flicking.
Snap out of it Catra! You’re a princess! She’s from the Horde!
Catra willed herself to scratch at Force Captain’s face. Glimmer back peddled, unable to teleport away before Catra yanked the collar of her uniform, pulling her back down onto the table. Glimmer reached a hand to her face, covering the  five red lines across her cheek now puckering with blood. She smiled devilishly.
“Like it rough huh princess?”
“What are you…?” The words died in Catra's throat. Silenced by Glimmer’s full lips against hers, warm and wet and desperate. She tried to reel backward but the Force Captain clothed her knees against her legs, holding her firmly in place. Without thinking, Catra pulled her arms around Glimmer’s neck, pulling her further into their wanting kisses. Aggressive perhaps, romantic...definitely not. Needy and curious, absolutely.
She even tastes like glitter, Catra mused, fingers carding through the Force Captain’s plush pink and purple hair. It was not an unpleasant thought.
“Damn Princess, I don’t know what I was expecting but  not this!”  Glimmer whispered through another bout of kissing.
“You’re so annoying,” Catra snarled, her grip on Glimmer tightening around her arms, claws scratching against her back. The force captain let out a small moan, deepening their kiss so much Catra nearly gasped for breath. Satisfied, Glimmer drew back, biting Catra’s lip for good measure.
“What...what was that for?” Catra demanded, stepping backward out of Glimmer’s forceful embrace. The force captain shrugged, non-committal.
“Well I best be going princess. I have a war to win and you have a glamorous castle to...I don’t know, lounge about it.”
“I am not lounging!” Catra bristled, indignant.
“This was fun princess, I’ll see you later.”
Catra reached out to seize Glimmer, who answered with one more heated kiss. Ferocious and with a promise of more to come. Catra’s stomach did summer salts in her stomach.
“Glimmer!”
The Force captain only grinned, disappearing into a haze of pink.
“Princess Catra!”
Juliet barged in before she could compose herself.
“We have not located the Force Captain, but we have scouts out on patrol searching for her as we speak.”
Catra stole herself a breath then regained her composure, hoping she hadn’t given herself away.
“Let her go, she’ll be back.”
“But...princess,”
Catra looked out the window. The billowing smoke plumes of the Fright Zone visible far off in the distance.
“She’ll be back Juliet, trust me.”

Here have a line from one of my She-Ra WIPs: One Good Thing (title may change)
The Glitra slow-burn none of you asked for is coming along quite nicely! Here is a bit of dialogue from a scene I’m working on today. Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
“Have they what?”
“Broken you?”
Catra stopped, her ears pricking. She turned back to Glimmer, lips pursed.
“What do you think princess?”
Glimmer could tell by the sneering edge to her voice that Catra’s nicety, if you could even call it that, was waning for the day. She didn’t wait for a reply, gathering the supplies and making to exit the cell.
“They haven’t.”
Glimmer looked at the back of Catra’s unkempt mane.
“You wouldn’t have come here and patched up my wounds if they did.”
Glimmer held her breath. Catra’s ears flicked backward, she looked over her now bare shoulder at Glimmer. For a moment her eyes were soft, slit pupils dilated. Searching for answers before quickly snapping back to unforgiving harshness.
“If you really think that then you're even dumber than Adora.”

Glitra Week Day Two: Friendly Competition
Glimmer giggled, helping herself to another glass of sparkling champagne.
“And then Prime’s ship became a tree!” Bow exclaimed beside her. “Just...a giant magical tree!”
Calm down, it’s okay. Prime is gone. His ship is gone. It’s just a story. That’s it. Just breathe, enjoy the drink. Breathe. All your friends are here. That was years ago. He’s gone. He can’t hurt you. Glimmer repeated the mantra to herself every time she heard that name. Prime. Bow finished his story with a flourish. The other party guests nodding enthusiastically at his tale of glory. Glimmer finished the rest of her drink and set it down, taking her boyfriend’s arm.
“We won’t keep you,” she smiled with practiced politeness, tugging Bow away from the crowd.
“I’m sorry about that,” Bow gently rubbed her forearms once they snuck into the corner of the lavish ball room.
“It’s fine,” Glimmer shrugged, unsure whether or not she was lying to herself. “I just...I’m still...the story’s over now anyway! Let’s enjoy the party.” She wanted things to be smooth sailing this evening, to take this night with her partner and her friends and enjoy the party. No planning meetings, no stately duties. Just food, fun times and dancing. Prime be damned. Damned to the deepest...darkest...most desolate place in despondo…
“Honored guests!”
Glimmer and bow turned to where Scorpia, looking immaculate in her new black dress and heels held the microphone aloft on the band stage.
“Thank you so much for coming to our Princess Ball! This...this really is spectacular and oh I am just so glad you’re all here!” Glimmer smiled encouragingly at the Princess Scorpia, giving her a stubble thumbs up. “Is everyone having a good time?” A roar of cheering approval rang through the crowd. The scorpion princess smiled, blush rising on her cheeks. “Oh good! Well, I know we have lots more fun things to get to! But...first I thought we could start the night off with the...annual, opps no..centennial…uhh,” the microphone clattered in her pincered grip. Glimmer reached out with her magic, glitter beginning to surround her, ready to teleport on stage to help but Bow’s hand tightened in her grip.
“She’ll do fine, let her have her moment.”
“But I can…”
“Just let her be, she can do this,” he reassured her. Glimmer raised a brow, turning once more back to the stage. Scorpia recovered the mic quickly and coughed, eyes scanning the guests.
“It is time for the Drenian Dance Contest! My personal favorite tradition at every Princess Ball!” The crowd clapped and shouted as the music began to pump up, filling the newly renovated Black Garnet Chamber, now great hall, with fast-paced music.
“Sparkles,”
That voice,
The hair on the back of Glimmer’s neck rose, turning towards Catra and Adora. Damn why did the Horde Scum have to look so good?  Despite her unruly hair swaying in it’s pony tail, Catra was a vision, even Glimmer-try as she might-could not deny it. Red dress shirt cut perfectly to her lithe frame, a white and gold cape fell off her shoulder.
Her dress pants were noticeably fitted, with knee high boots and to Glimmer’s irritation, palm-less gloves she sort she herself normally sported.
“Horde Scum,” she met Catra’s heterochromatic eyes with a glare. The feline woman only smirked, eyes roving to the other dancers around them.
“Bet Adora and I can dance better than you and Arrow Boy.”
Beside her Adora laughed easily, meeting Glimmer’s eyes with a -she’s-just-kidding-I-am-sorry-about-her-you-know-she’s-just-teasing- look.
“You’re on, kitty cat.”
Catra’s eyes widened in momentary disbelief, mouth slightly agape. Glimmer relished in the look of it,  Catra’s so cute when she’s flustered.
“Glimmer...what the…?” The princess of Brightmoon seized Bow in a death grip, pulling him close to her, one arm around his waist, the other gripping his hand tight as she began to lead him in the dance. Out of the corner of her eye, Catra spun Adora around like a top, a flow of billowing white and gold.
“Glimmer!” Bow reeled, trying not to trip on his feet as he danced around her, keeping hand in hers, “I don’t remember all the steps to the…”
“You don’t have to! Just dance better than Adora!” Glimmer instructed. Which, shouldn’t be too hard, Adora might as well have two left feet. Fighting was one thing, but the princess of power could barely twirl without concussing herself.
“Careful Sparkles, don’t break his arm!”
Catra teased, dancing dangerously close to her. The feline tail graced against her arm, curling around her narrow wrist and yanked. Glimmer shrugged it off easily, holding Bow by the small of his back as he dipped backward.
The music continued on, beating ever intensely.
“Glimmer! Wait! I don’t know what comes next!” Bow pleaded, even as they stepped around each other.
“Dip me!” Glimmer shouted, pressing against him.
“What?!”
“I said, dip me!”
Bow’s arms wrapped around her waist just in time. Glimmer threw herself backward, vision swimming with the ceiling of the hall and then...blue and gold eyes bore into hers. Catra, inches from her face, dangling artfully in Adora’s hold. Glimmer’s eyes narrowed, wipe that smug grin of your face you…
“Didn’t know they taught dancing lessons in the Horde!” She settled on a verbal jab. Catra shrugged, still bent backward.
“Oh yeah,” Catra countered, “right between How to Destroy a Princess and How to Annoy a Sparkly Queen. I aced all three.”
Glimmer rolled her eyes,
“Did Shadow Weaver teach you how to dance or did she just yell instructions at you?”
Catra’s ear twitched,
“You’re bringing Shadow Weaver into this? That’s low even for you?” Her voice laced with mock hurt.
“Oh Kitten, nothings’ too low for me.”
"Hey! That's my line..."
Bow’s arms pulled her back up and into….
“Ouch!”
Black pain flashed across her eyes, her head wringing. Something nearby hissed in a curse. Glimmer rubbed her head, blinking back spots.
“Sorry!” Adora’s apology echoed in her ears. “I didn’t realize you two were that close! I should’ve stepped back!”
“Don’t worry,” Catra was rubbing her own forehead, “I’m sure Sparkle’s skull is thick enough not to take much damage.”
“Yeah, it’s not like Catra has much in there to hurt anyway,” she bit back. The two of them stared daggers at each other. Bow and Adora looking on as usual unsure how to intervene.
“Looks like you lost the contest Sparkles.”
“Yeah well you didn’t win either!” Glimmer seethed. They looked around, the music slowly fading.
“Then who…”
In the middle of the dance floor Rogelio and Kyle stole the spotlight. The large lizard man hoisting Kyle aloft, his arms splayed out and up in a perfect balance.
Glimmer starred dumbfounded, a laugh rising within her. Beside her Catra straight up chortled with that raspy giggle. They glanced at each other, only to send the other into another round of laughter.
“I can’t believe it! Kyle!” Catra shook her head, trying to stifle her hysterics. Glimmer shook her head in disbelief, nudging Catra gently.
“C’mon, I’ll get you a drink...kitty”
