i know everyone said 'replies from sideblogs could go bad' though personally i was excited for them (for topic specific sideblog running purposes) but i do think we should be able to send asks from sideblogs too tbh. it could also get exceptionally ugly very fast but i think that for all the topic-specific blogs like ask blogs, for systems who have headmates with diff sideblogs, and for people who want to make friends in smaller communities focused on niche topics unrelated to their main i feel like it would be worth it

So Long and Thanks For All The Sex
Well friends, after thirteen years, it’s finally time for little project to come to an end. Guy New York was a fun character to inhabit and often felt more like me than I did. But Guy and Quickies New York have done what they came to do.
I wrote over a thousand short stories here on Tumblr, and I’ve published over eighty books. We posted original photos, shared thoughts on sex, kink, and open-relationships, and most importantly made a whole bunch of amazing friends.
From Tumblr, my work spread out to Amazon, B&N, Patreon, Medium, Substack, and a slew of other places, many of which Guy outlasted in the shifting landscape of the internet.
But all things come to an end, and right now it’s time for QNY and GNY to sign off so I can turn to new things.
I don’t know what’s next.
I don’t imagine I’ll stop writing, and I’m sure I’ll keep taking photos and rambling about New York one way or another. But right now I need to say goodbye and close the door so the next one can open.
Thanks for all your love, support, and most importantly your willingness to share and be a part of something that often felt vulnerable as it touched upon many of our fears and desires.
It’s been a fun ride.
Lots of love,
Guy
If you enjoyed my stories here, I have two giant print volumes of pretty much everything I wrote here from 2009-2019--I haven't posted much new material since then––and you can find them on Amazon!
And you can still buy my complete library of 80+ books for $100 directly from me via SendOwl/PayPal.
(Outside of GNY, I’m not especially active on social media, but if you’d like to keep up with me, I occasionally post on Instagram @BenInNewYork)
You can also find Ben on Medium at https://medium.com/@bengoodwin

Some things I've enjoyed in the past month! If I react positively to something, I generally like it whether or not it has flaws. I'll just mention what I appreciate!
read
The Housekeeper and the Professor, Yoko Ogawa. I adore this author. This book was gentle and a little heartbreaking, and really lovely. I cried over the love reveal.
The Secret Talker, Geling Yan. I won't spoil it, but while the premise is kind of absurd, the book was a wild ride. I couldn't put it down. (check warnings on this one)
my storygraph
watched
The Best Offer, 2013, starring Geoffrey Rush. A famed auctioneer becomes entangled with a young heiress who won't leave her house. The twist in this hurts. I think about it a lot.
Safe, 1995, directed by Todd Haynes. Brilliant lead performance by Julienne Moore. Disturbing look at how society treats disease. The 90s sexism rang loudly. I've admired Todd since Velvet Goldmine and don't know how I missed this one.
Ammonite, 2020, starring Kate Winslet in a fantastic performance. Watched via Kanopy (ty, library!). Melancholy love story between two women and exactly my speed. A+ on the intimacy but has an ambiguous ending. Loosely based on paleontologist Mary Anning, who is also featured in Tracy Chevalier's novel Remarkable Creatures (probably my favorite of hers).
on repeat
Jade by X JAPAN. This song goes hard. The rock opening shifts into a power ballad. I didn't think I'd heard of this band until last year, only to discover that one of my college J-rock favorites (Crucify My Love) is also theirs. Small world etc.
Aftermath by Muse. I've been looping this song for a couple of months. Something about it just goes right for my heart. Haven't been able to get enough of Neutron Star Collision either.
discovered
Google Calendar has integrated Tasks, and you can even put them in tidy columns! At the top of the calendar page, just click the little checkbox to toggle between calendar and tasks view.

The Bro Strider Meta Post (yikes)
Hi, it took me literally 5 days and a lot of pondering over whether or not to share this. I don’t mean for this to be something to like, start debates, nor do I want to argue with people about it, it’s just. Something I poured a little bit of time into, for the express purposes of my own entertainment.
But jokey jokes or nuh-uh, I promised Bro Thoughts, and I have delivered those thoughts. Some of it is speculation, some of it is me leaving you to your own devices, to draw your own conclusions. I probably sound a little unhinged, if I’m being honest, but after writing a very long fanfiction where this dude plays a main role, it feels par for the course.
So without further ado, I present my little nightmare:
Bro In Context: Speculation and Extrapolation Based on Canon Evidence and In Relation to Dirk Strider (Part 1): Canon Evidence, Speculation, Extrapolation

heyy everybody, so i don't write very often (like, ever) but i was very taken with an au idea and began something. Problem being that the characters centering in the story aren't ones I happen to know all that well. it just happened to make sense for them to be protagonists here
sooo despite having made an ao3 literally JUST for this one story, I wanted to double check with ppl more in tune with these particular characters before putting it there so i can be sure they're actually. yknow. in character. i'll be tagging all the ones in it or mentioned so far so that ppl more familiar with them will see this.
i have separate copies of it, so feel free to comment on it and mark it up as you like. the google doc link im putting should allow for that if i've done it right. fingers crossed ig!!
