here's a question: if you knew you have serious grooming allegations going around and have spent the past few days arguing with people on twitter and youve been defending yourself this whole time claiming you're innocent, would you post a tiktok video in which the punch line of the joke is that you love minors?

how does it feel to know that the author that created the character you’re defending outright called out the pro darkling fans and actually used their arguments against them in the king of scars duology? you know something’s off when even the AUTHOR says you’re wrong lmao
I don't respect Leigh Bardugo enough to care about her opinions. Sorry 🤷🏽‍♀️. She speaks about issues she clearly doesn't understand and acts like she's the authority on the subject, she wrote a story "against abuse" that somehow made the message worse, and she infantilizes her female fans as well as her female characters. Her writing supports oppression and racism, and has a pretty heavy theme of assimilation and conformity. She cheapens real oppression, abuse, manipulation, and grooming with her heavy handed attempts at writing them when she's so clearly ignorant.
The King of Scars duology is so badly written it's almost laughable. Zoya's rise to power is highly offensive, especially when it comes to how the persecution of her people is handled. Leigh Bardugo doesn't actually use Darkling fan arguments against them in the KoS duology (or prove them wrong) because she doesn't seem capable of understanding what they're even saying. She can't effectively argue against or disprove something she cannot even a) properly address, or b) understand at it's most fundamental level.
Even so, what she has to say about the subject is simply wrong. She clearly doesn't even know how cults or religions work, and the levels of finger-pointing in the KoS duology are so extreme as to be comical. You mean the Darkling that was dead all this time is somehow the cause of the problems the main characters created? He is somehow manipulating them even now from beyond the grave? At what point do people realize they're just using a convenient scapegoat?
"You know something's off when even the AUTHOR says you're wrong" - Look I'm sorry to burst your bubble Anon but authors aren't actually an authority on anything, and especially not on very serious issues like persecution and abuse. Would you take HP Lovecraft's word about the morals in his stories? I doubt it. Because the author will always have prejudices outside of their writing that they incorporate into it, and Leigh Bardugo clearly does.
So no, I don't feel much of anything on the subject, because Leigh Bardugo has proven to have nothing important to say on it. In fact, she generally only has very harmful and ignorant things to say. And in true echo chamber fashion, so do her fans and Darkling antis.

🔥 about Baghra and darkling's relationship
alright! this one's going to be kind of heavy though. I know I've talked about my feelings on the darkling and baghra's relationship being canonically emotionally abusive and most likely also physically abusive, but I've never really talked about my feelings on the fact that their relationship is a textbook version of emotional incest, and that baghra abused him in this way too.
now: "emotional incest often takes place when a parent lacks or has lost their own emotional support system, including their partner or spouse. they might feel isolated or not know how to find constructive outlets for difficult emotions in these cases." (x)
the relationship on it's own displays signs of this: in baghra's jealousy and possessiveness when it comes to aleksander's connections with others (often romantic), the ways she teaches him to survive often overlapping with a desire to isolate him from others so she is his only support system, her expectation of his responsibility as an adult in an adult relationship even when he's a child (and then later the expectation of his acting in a relationship with her when they're both adults), and her active blurring of his boundaries, as well as numerous other things.
when you know baghra's history, it becomes even more obvious, however. because the reason she had him in the first place was to fill the void of a life partner and a spouse - this is extremely evident in her abandoning of all previous children until she not only had one that could live as long as her, but also one that could understand her emotions and needs as a shadow summoner, and one that she would have an easier time of grooming into her likeness and her partner.
it also becomes obvious from a character standpoint when you consider that her efforts to have this child who could serve as her partner were driven by many of the classic emotions that lead to emotional incest, such as her loneliness, her grief and loss (or desire not to grieve and always lose others), the lack of intimacy and emotional availability in her life, as well as attachment trauma and a fear of abandonment, and the fact that she's self obsessed.
so anyways, that's my unpopular opinion on baghra. I think it's kind of commonly accepted in fandom that she 'wasn't the greatest mom', but that kind of sidesteps the fact that she was not only actively abusive, but acted incestuously towards her son.
send me a 🔥 for an unpopular opinion (x)

we all know this, but the way social media is trying to protect kids nowadays is rlly not what should be done.
like youtube completely disabling comments on videos "for kids", or tiktok (and others such as instagram) forcing users to censor words like "kill" or "death" - and instead replacing them with "unalive".
yes, the internet definitely needs proper moderation, it needs to protect kids better. but this is not how you do it. you can't sanitize things like "kill" or "death", especially now with what's happening in gaza and many other countries like yemen or sudan. you can't just pretend these things don't exist to protect kids. you can teach them without exposing kids to graphic content.
besides, censoring words or disabling comments entirely won't protect kids from being groomed, abused and/or harassed on the internet.

like dream FULLY blames tommy for making people uncomfortable for saying he was a minor when like. if that makes your joke a groomer joke maybe your behaviour is coming way too close to being sexual towards minors!

I find the whole "gay teachers telling their students they're gay is grooming🤬😡" crowd funny because I remember in second grade when my teacher explained she would no longer want to be called "ms." because she'll be a "mrs." after she married her long-term boyfriend. Or when I saw teacher after teacher getting pregnant and after they came back from maternity leave, they showed pictures of their new family and they expressed their happiness and how much they missed us. Our class - made of eight-year-olds - understood that this is just what happens in teachers' lives. We weren't scarred for life, and we especially weren't groomed to be one way or the other (if that were the case, this blog wouldn't exist because I'd be cishet). That isn't how this works, y'all.
Heterosexuality is seen as inherently non-sexual no matter what, so it is acceptable in all circumstances. Queerness is seen as inherently sexual, however, even if it is a teacher saying he has a boyfriend or a woman embracing her girlfriend, or a person changing their name - it is deviancy in these peoples' minds

https:// www.tumblr .com / astriodent / 746657109448474624 where'd they admit to having csem? (also the comment of "accusing me, a poc, of being racist" is funny. like only white people can be racist? then i guess only neurotypical people can be ableist, or only cis/het people can be trans/homophobic)
Tumblr media
yes they were groomed into it However they are still Actively friends with a pro-c person so they aren't getting Any better. it's like saying you don't support CSEM and then immediately being buddy buddy with people who do. also i agree with your point

tw for grooming mentions
there are lots of other people posting tips to detect groomers, but i have some more subtle ones that i've learned over my years of being terminally online
example of what is normal: an adult leaving a positive, PG comment or giving tips to younger artists on public artworks minors may post. encouraging young artists helps boost their skills
what is not normal: an adult DMing a young artist with swaths of compliments regularly and getting overly invested in the minor's online presence
what is normal: an adult having a PG non-personal discussion relating directly to the fandom with a minor in a public forum. minors are capable of having interesting additions in fandom discussions
what is not normal: an adult singling out minors to shift the conversation to more personal topics oftentimes in DMs, (such as age, school, mental illness, even subtly approaching sexual topics). mature adults with pure intentions have no reason to be taking interest in the personal lives of random kids on the internet.
and finally, the most important tip i can give...
TRUST YOUR GUT
if someone is giving off bad vibes or making you uncomfortable, even in the slightest, you are entitled to block them! you don't need to explain yourself to them or anyone else. just hit the block button.
i used to feel kind of bad just blocking people who weirded me out, but as i've grown up, i've come to realize this:
a mature, healthy, safe person would not be devastated by being blocked by a kid. if being blocked really does upset someone, it probably means you were right to block them in the first place as they would not have been a good or trustworthy acquaintance

I am so sorry to everybody affected by this but my heart goes out mostly to those who fell victim to him and his stupid ass "I do what I want" attitude. Please take care of yourselves.

4 all my non dsmp followers, to make it incredibly clear
cc!dream:
minecraft YouTuber
racist who bought a trump flag
groomed at least two minors for sexual reasons
acts like a fucking whiny bitch when people won’t be friends with him
awful person in a boring way
not hot
c!dream
fictional character who isn’t real (unfortunately played by a shitty actor)
not bigoted, wants everyone to be his bestie
groomed zero minors for sexual reasons
commits murder and manipulation when people won’t be friends with them, isn’t a whiny bitch
awful person in a fun, analysable way
character design is entirely up to you, as hot as you want him to be
I think this is proof my blorbo is a far better person than his actor 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Grooming's another word that's lost all meaning. I saw a comment on reddit about a celeb couple with a 7 yr age gap that was like 'I love them but ugh why did he have to groom her?😭' and like... um if you truly believe that why would you like them as a couple??? It's not unreasonable to speculate something dodgy could've happened as they met when she was 16, but they seem happily married for nearly 10 yrs & we don't know any details, so how about not labelling him an abuser like it's a fact?

I have watched every single Dreamwastaken video from before I stopped watching him mid-2021. I had watched every VOD I could find. I have watched every 4-hunter and less Manhunt at least twice. I had a YouTube playlist exclusively for videos with him and the DT in it. I had 11 DNf fics bookmarked on AO3. I used to have Dakota's blog notifications on. I would defend him to my friends, to my boyfriend. Believe me when I say I was a Dream fan.
I get it, I get the attachment, the adoration, and the comfort. I get the allure, the mix between entertainment and this place you can call home. One of my favorite comfort videos ever was that Quackity one where DT roleplay therapy with him, and I frequently wish I could go back and watch it without feeling sick to my stomach. But there are some things more important than my own comfort, my obsessions and interests.
Believe victims.
