NATLA Episode 2 Debrief (by yours truly)
Hi again! Here's episode 1 if anyone is interested. This is going to be another outrageously long post, just a tw
I absolutely loved the ominous start and then it's just:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They really captured the Zuko/Iroh dynamic the cartoon had in this scene. I hope they keep this sort of thing throughout the show. Also, side note, but for whatever reason Zuko seems a LOT more violent in this version. This child needs some serious therapy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I guess this is their version of the map joke, huh? Low-key disappointed but not as mad as I thought I would be.
Tumblr media
I'm not sure how I feel about the writers prolonging some of the conflicts that were resolved back in the SWT into this episode. I guess it makes sense that they would have to extend the drama, but I'm a little disappointed these thoughts didn't make it into the first episode. I'm glad they're included, but I think at this point team avatar had started to feel like family already in the cartoon, so it's kind of annoying and misses the mark a bit.
Tumblr media
Yes I'm so glad they put GranGran's blessing back in! I was really mad when they took it out, but this honestly feels more meaningful than it did in the cartoon. It's a precious cultural artifact rather than just a couple of blankets. This is similar to what I was mad about with extending SWT conflicts, but I don't have nearly as much of a problem with it, as it seems like they're carrying a little piece of home with them rather than just extra drama.
Tumblr media
The burial scene was very sweet and sad. It gave us a bit more insight into Air Nomad culture, and a sense of closure the cartoon didn't really give us. A+ for Gordon's acting as well (he is perfect for this part, even if he does still need some more acting experience)
Tumblr media
Zuko has officially mastered the "my uncle dragged me here and I'm an agnsty teenager" face. A+ to Dallas for this entire scene. I am absolutely LOVING the Iroh and Zuko dynamic. Never change (jk I wish you a wonderful redemption arc)
Tumblr media
Suki looks just as beautiful as she did in the trailer. Unfortunately can't say the same for the Kyoshi statue (I wish it had been made out of wood), but there is something to be said for the little shrines to the avatars instead of a few big ones. I actually kind of like that they changed that element, and I hope they explore it more in future episodes, because I assume some of the spiritualism surrounding them would have to be changed. Side note: but I've seen nothing of the spirit world so far and I'm getting a little nervous. I guess I wouldn't mind if they decided it was some long-lost avatar trick or is introduced in the NWT, but if they get rid of it altogether I'm gonna be pissed.
Tumblr media
I'm glad they decided to make Kyoshi Island a matriarchal society instead of having a male leader. It just makes sense based on the lore and I like to see more strong adult women than in the cartoon. Also Suki got a mom! Maybe she'll get some development too!
Tumblr media
This Aang speech was very in-your-face storytelling, but I feel like the whole show is gonna be like that so I'm just accepting it at this point. I think it stayed true to his character while getting the point across, and it also kind of helped his character compared to the cartoon. He's very emotionally open and has a charming nativity about him, but he's clearly trying to help. Loved it.
Tumblr media
He's so awkward I love it. This whole interaction was really cool, because it expanded on their relationship in a cool way. They're both struggling between doing what their parents expect of them to help their respective villages, but are being faced with a pull to the outside world, Suki with her "big heart" and Sokka with his need to protect Katara. Thishonestly gives more depth to their relationship and I don't mind the writers dragging out first episode conflicts if this is how they're choosing to explore them.
Tumblr media
Aww look at these cute little siblings. I like that the writers are giving them more time to progress from strangers to besties. Their interactions seem more natural, and Aang's grief more realistic. It's also great to once again see Katara growing more confident and powerful in her abilities. I love the smell of some good character development in the making.
Tumblr media
Look at her face! She's like,"I'm so good at flirting. Mother would be proud." Meanwhile Sokka's scared of her. Anyway I'm living for their scenes and they're making me giggle. (Despite Sokka's sexism being toned down it still exists to a lesser level and I love to see her beating his ass while he tries to flex)
Tumblr media
I love the new subplot! I love that flashback! I love this conflict! It gives more credence to his fears as a prodigy. Whatever writer came up with this deserves a hug.
Tumblr media
AHH the ship is sailing! I love Sokka learning to be more open minded! I love Suki learning to be more open-hearted! I love when characters in romantic relationships learn from each other! This is giving Suki and Sokka development in ways the cartoon did not without trying to play Sokka's sexism off as a joke and also giving us more screentime and when I say I love it I mean I am doing a happy dance right now!
Okay, so just a quick word on shipping besides Sukka because as Zutara trash I am legally required to do this:
Tumblr media
It seems like they are keeping the zutara hope parallel intact, with Katara and Zuko both finding hope in the avatar but in different ways. However, I don't think this really changes anything. So far, there's beven nothing to suggest they're going with ZK instead of KA, and I'm a little worried that they're trying to parallel Sukka and KA wwith the way they're setting up both girls as kind of a "teacher" to the boys in a way and giving both ships a huge amount of screentime in the same episode. Also, and I hate to say this, they might be attempting to fix KA by toning down Katara's anger and her "dark side". She didn't get angry to break the iceberg and they're eliminating her entire waterbending scroll plotline. They're trying to make them a better match for each other by watering her down and therefore increasing her connection with Aang and decreasing the chance of a future connection with Zuko over their anger and shared trauma. It's sad news that I didn't want to deliver, and I've seen spoilers that there is another ZK moment later down the line, but at this point, I think KA is a lot more plausible than ZK. *cries*
Tumblr media
In slightly less depressing news, they're inserting the avatar state plotline a lot earlier. This makes sense with the condensed timeline, and I think I like the way they're going with it so far. I hope they keep the concept of avatar guide intact, though, and I'm worried that they're going to play into more of a connection to all of his past lives instead of just Roku. I kind of hate Roku but I do think that's a major concept I don't want them to get rid of, and his inaction during a time of adversity mirror's Aang's own challenges with confrontation. Their dynamic is a good one, and I wouldn't be opposed to changed but I really hope they don't entirely throw it out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Scratch whatever the fuck I said before. I'm back on my shipping bullshit I can't believe we got a BONUS FIGHT! Also kudos to whoever decided Zhao should burn the village instead of Zuko. I was always so pissed at him whenever I rewatched this episode and now I can sleep easy knowing it was that military dipshit instead of him
Tumblr media
I love Kyoshi to an unhealthy extent but I kind of wish Katara had been the one to go off on him. It would have seriously fixed things.
Tumblr media
COUPLES THAT FIGHT TOGETHER ARE THE BEST COUPLES CHANGE MY MIND
Also, side note, but I love the hair these in fight scenes:
Tumblr media
Most action movies hairspray the shit out of them but these actors are allowed to look a little disheveled while they kick ass. Huge thank you to whoever decided that more natural hair is superior cuz they are 100% correct
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THE BONUS FIGHT SCENE IS NO LONGER COOL I REPEAT THE BONUS FIGHT SCENE IS NO LONGER COOL
Tumblr media
I think this was the perfect conclusion to Sukka (for now)! Sokka learned something so much more valuable and impactful than in the cartoon, in my opinion. His masculinity is handled very well in my opinion, and even if I would have liked to see him wear the warrior outfit, there's something really great about the way he continues to embrace protectiveness, a masculine trait, while having rid himself of toxic masculinity, such as not being able to learn from others. He's leaving a more open minded and humble person and I love the way they portrayed it.
Tumblr media
Okay the speech was a little on the nose but I liked it. One of the best things about ATLA was the way they executed Aang's childishness ending up beneficial for the world. I think the new conflict is expanding on that nicely while staying true to its roots. *pats writers on the head*
Tumblr media
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH IS THIS REAL I LOVE IT SO MUCH AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Tumblr media
IM TRYING SO HARD NOT TO THINK ABOUT THIS LINE AND HOW IT COULD BE ANOTHER PARALLEL TO K/A I HATE IT BUT I LOVE IT AT THE SAME TIME LETS JUST FOCUS ON SUKI SAYING SOKKA HELPED HER AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Also the fan was so cute. That last scene on Appa really wrapped everything up nicely. I like the way they tied in the conflicts between the siblings while engineering growth for Sokka.
Tumblr media
Daniel Kim delivered in his two seconds of screentime. Zhao was such a bitch but idk what else I expected. Can't wait to see more of these two bastards in future!
Anyway, to recap:, things I did like:
Aang's new conflicts
Sokka's mini arc
SUKKA
Expanding on Katara's PTSD
Zhao burning the town instead of Zuko
Zuko and Iroh's dynamic
Things I didn't like:
Katara's characterization
Lack of Aang's actual avatar guide
K/A hints and lack of zutara implications
Postponing the Zhao and Zuko agni Kai
Overall, I have to say I think that they're playing into the core themes very well while expanding on the characters. If it weren't for the whole Katara debacle this would be a 9/10 episode, but with the Katara debacle imma give it a 7/10. Still, I can at least understand why the writers made their crappy decisions, even if I don't agree with them. Hopefully certain things are fixed in future episodes, but as it stands I think I'll live (barely)

Am I the only one disappointed with season 3 of The Mandalorian?
Contains SPOILERS - so skip if you don’t wanna know
Tonight was, painful.
I’ve REALLY been trying to hang on with an open mind but after tonight, there’s no going back.
And I’ve got some things to get off my chest.
Din Djarin has had NO character development from the sacrifice he made for Grogu’s life. This has been inarguably, the biggest disappointment for me. I was hoping for a season of exploration of a man’s moral compass and worldview being hauled upside down, a young boy who’d been orphaned, traumatised and taken in by a cult that raised him with titanium religious beliefs. Who grew into a hardened bounty hunter but gave up everything he knew for the sake of a lost child. Became shunned for protecting said child and despite doing what he felt was right, strived to seek redemption and forgiveness. There was so much potential for Din as a character in terms of growth and development, all of which was swept under a rug within the first two episodes. He has instead become apart of Disney’s formula of “the boss ladies side bitch” with nothing to add to the scene but his catchphrase “this is the way”. That and the sudden revival of his hate for droids even though he had been working on that issue in past seasons.
Grogu is more or less the commodity Disney grew cash dollar signs in their eyes over for the sake of product marketing and just have him doing cutesy shit for the sake of being cutesy.
And then there’s Bo Katan.
Now disclaimer - I’m not the type that hates an actual person for a character they play. Yes, I’ve never liked Bo Katan (that much I’ve made clear in recent posts) but I also think that Katee Sackhoff does a brilliant job playing a character as such. And to see her come to life in season 2 was incredible and to me, Bo Katan from season two is the REAL Bo Katan.
Because I’m sure as hell disappointed with what they’ve done to her character in season 3. Bo Katan was a terrorist who broke away from Mandalore unable to accept a new direction in leadership from her own sister. She massacred and terrorised innocent people, she plotted towards the death of her sister, splintered off from her terrorist group after the throne of Mandalore was taken by Maul and continued to fight against his loyalists and later the empire itself.
And we all saw the look of death on her face when Gideon pointed out that the dark Sabre belonged to Din
This isn’t someone I was rooting for but this was someone who didn’t know when to give up and would go to any means possible to get what they wanted. This is the same woman who made an oath in the throne room of Mandalore, saying that an outsider would never rule the people. The odds were against her in many ways yet she still fought like hell…. Where is that woman? And who replaced her with Disney’s first emo teen princess whose suddenly forgotten her xenophobic upbringing?
And as for Lizzo and Jack Black’s appearances in episode six?
My partner said it best when he commented that they turn the whole show into a parody of itself.
Personally, I found Christopher Loyd’s character as flat as cardboard and an absolutely pointless goose chase used to build up momentum all to throw away the opportunity for a twist ending.
It really breaks my heart to see the series diminish into what it has. The whole reason people fell in love with the show was due to Din and Grogu’s father son dynamic and that’s all been thrown to the side in favour of other characters, setting up for the future of other shows and tying off the ends to the sequels.
Season three completely lacks the drive and purpose of the previous seasons.
It should and could have been so much more than what it is.
And Din Djarin deserved more depth in his story then to be abandoned to the side lines.

☆ <3 Naib Subedar Taking Care of Robbie ☆ <3
Tumblr media
[🖇️] word count: 1437
[🖇️] warnings: g/n reader, not proofread - as if i ever did that before
[🖇️] author's note: this was supposed to be a multiple characters post but i realized that i am NOT made for this, at least for now lmao. I will just post the other two separately soon because it's easier for me this way. 🫨
[🖇️] Maybe this would make more sense with Memory but Robbie is like my favourite hunter of course i had to take the opportunity omg... ROBBIENATION RISE
Tumblr media
-Ever since the past week you managed to get closer to little Robbie. Whether it happened because he was fond of your kindness or you seemed like a perfect playmate he was soon all over you - he'd share candy with you and even make cards with drawings for special occasions. One day when it was already very late you've suddenly heard a few knocks on the old fashioned door of your dorm. You've slowly gotten up, trying not to wake up your lover and opened the door. It was no one else than Robbie himself holding a small plushie. Long past his bedtime. He started explaining he's got nightmares and is scared to sleep alone today, later asking if he could join you two. If you didn't share your room you'd immediately agree, however, in this case you need to ask your boyfriend for consent.
-Naib is suddenly awoken by you, asking what's so important at this ungodly hour? Once the question's finally asked he feels confused, noticing the little boy standing behind with a "mom i just throw up" face.
-Has a hesitant stance at first. Sure, he's noticed you two started spending more time lately, but for you to be babying the boy already? He would be suggesting bringing him back to Michiko or Luchino, but the stone hearted mercenery eventually gives in after you convince him.
-When the three of you finally lay together, you are in between them since Naib prefered to be next to you, he holds you by your waist and meanwhile you hold Robbie. Naib also stays up a little longer to see both of you fall asleep, both because he just wants to look at you and make sure no tricks are being pulled. Seems like the axe boy really enjoyed sleeping together, as he loves visiting for little sleepovers from time to time. This doesn't bug the merc as much, but he still may feel a little, just a little jealous.
-Why would a man slowly pushing thirty be jealous of a small child you ask? Naib thought so as well, but when he saw you both drawing silly stuff on paper he felt somewhat envious. Just when you thought the most secretive, independent, straightforward person under this roof would never loose his cool around you, he sits next to you and starts drawing a wacky stickman.
-Ever since his sleepovers became a frequent thing, Naib is often choosen to be on babysitting duty. Sometimes with you, sometimes alone.
-I can see them having bit of a rough start at some point? Like Naib wanting to distance himself rather than be around Robbie, yet making sure he is around. He'd eye him to make sure you're not being hurt. This small boy, on the other hand, would be ecstatic to finally crack the mercernary's tough shell, the one who's making sure his playmate is safe in bed. With your help, Robbie would like to get closer to Naib, he quickly develops a big fascination with the green hooded man.
-You'd have to start slow and be patient, maybe ask Robbie to help you make lunch for the three of you and later eat together? Naib would begin recognizing the child's good intentions and eventually lets his guard down around.
-Once the adaptation is done, Naib definitely would receive the Cool Uncle™️ title without much effort and be constantly bugged by Robbie pleading him to show some cool tricks he does with his weapons. And well, Naib could be a hesitant one. You may as well step in to beg too, because how can he resist those four cute eyes? (Okay not quite if we think of Robbie but let's go on) The look in Robbie's eyes? Priceless. As if someone put diamonds in his eyes. Seeing the boy being so excited about something so ordinary to him actually boosts his ego and show some dangerous-leaning stuff, you may want to step in. Naib will soon realize that being the Cool Uncle™️ is not an easy task.
-They soon become some kind of partners in crime. Robbie discovers Naib from a totally diffrent side, he's mature, but he can also be a huge tease. He is certainly not the most talkative man, though is providing a lot of security. Naib is even willing to share some of his food of it and sometimee sneaks candies in Robbie's pocket when you're not looking.
-You'd often have to be the voice of reasons between them, as Naib's ego sometimes raises over the roof when showing off to Robbie.
-Eventually, they start spending so much time together that whenever someone spots either of them alone, they ask where the other one is. Naib feels secretly very proud of Robbie.
-One day, to your surprise, he even allowed him to wear his cape. You have a photo of him as mini Naib holding a toy knife standing on your bedroom desk.
-Robbie's personal favourite drawing is the one where he and Naib are in knight armors rescuing you from a dragon.
-Robbie's a curious child. You can't call it a day if you haven't seen him pulling the Merc by his hood and asking for yet another cool story. Naib would either make them up or just slightly modify his stories from the military.
-A lot of field trips! Naib would like to show Robbie some useful tricks, like what to do when you get lost. You, at first, thought that was a cute idea, until Robbie began climbing up random furniture. Robbie once showed you some usefk knife defence tricks that he was taught by your boyfriend, much to your horror. That man is raising a little monster.
-You once decided to go with them for one of those trips. Just out of curiosity. When you went to the toilet alone for a few minutes, Naib started teaching Robbie some fighting moves. Let's say you were terrified when you came back.
-Robbie enjoys when he is picked up by the older man. He likes to put on oversized coats he borrowed from Luchino and go to him, pretending to trick him into thinking that he has grown so quickly.
-They DO enjoy pulling pranks. And when think they would spare you and do it to others, you're actually their main victim.
-Naib specifically learnt a few "magic tricks" to show Robbie. Boy he was shocked.
-They both get overcompetitive when playing hide and seek. You always pray you're the one hiding because when it's the other way around it may take up to an HOUR, after the merc taught Robbie how to discretly switch hiding spots, much to your annoyance.
-Robbie picks up some of Naib's behaviour. Robbie seldom answer with a very sarcastic and ironic tone. You and Naib had a talk that day.
-As much as Robbie doesn't mean anything bad, he can sometimes get too brave and say something mildly offensive to you. Naib wouldn't hesitate to confront him about it and command to apologize.
-Robbie's very hyperactive, so whether Naib is reading a book or working out with Eli, he would constantly have a pair of small legs following him and asking what he's up to.
-They both like bonding over making food. If Robbie finds anything intriguing him in a cookbook it's only a matter of time until you see them picking up the indegredients together to surprise you. Naib let's him pick anything he wants for the dessert.
-Naib would teach Robbie how to prepare some easy and safe to make meals so he could feed himself on his own <3.
-During his solo babysitting duty, although caring, Naib can be strict. He secretly worries a lot and would not hesitate to send him back to the hunters' part of the manor as temporary punishment. Michiko learned to take advantage of that and would allow him to go back if he helped the butlers and maids do the cleaning.
-I can see Naib being the "go ask your mother" kind of person 😭. Also not very adequate to the era, but he would totally ask the kid if he has any cool games on his phone, just so he could get distracted and Naib could spend some time with you.
-As much as the mercenary likes Robbie, it does annoy him sometimes how he now has less private time just with you.
-Ultimately, while at first seeming closed off, Naib actually becomes very fond of him and is ready to protect him. Robbie meanwhile likes to show Naib how much he loves both of you.
Tumblr media
I don't know what to put here... i'm posting this while listening to Shakira songs... besides the Robbie mini series with Ganji and William (half finished!) i will soon start working on date scenerios with Luchino and Kevin for valentine day yay!!!! If any of my loyal and beloved eight followers is reading this i love you guys i'm swinging my feet goodnight

YANDERE CHRIS MANAWA HEADCANONS (ftwd)
because i have to process his death somehow
literally no one asked but i'm doing this anyway; chris was instantly my favourite character after the riot, i might try and write yandere headcanons for all the characters i take a liking to after their death. (just so i can say they didn't die and are off yandereing somewhere 🤡)
out of all the characters (so far: s3 e1) chris has the most yandere potential, by a landslide. honestly it doesn't matter if he knew his darling before everything went to shit or if he met them along the way, either way, they're the only person he feels a sense of kinship with, the only person that understands him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• what might of been a fondness, or a crush, develops into a consuming obsession as chris adapts to the new way of the world. his darling could have joined the group at LA, on the sea, at abigails villa or maybe they heard the car crash and came running to help, chris probably thinks they're extra weight on the group, why is his dad so soft hearted that they're letting a stranger join them? of course he'll feel bad once he realises they have no one else.
• the progression of developing obsessive thoughts about his darling to going full blown yandere is both gradual and alarmingly sudden: maybe his darling followed him and travis and then saved him from the bromigos (derek, brandon) putting him down.
• but unlike other yandere's, his darling has to "not look at him like he's disgusting" (your own words, christopher), they have to stay with him, and not condemn his actions as travis had.
• now they're the only person he has left, and what had been a festering obsession slowly growing as he became more violent, suddenly blows up; if he weren't injured, he'd surely drag his darling back to the farm and lock them far away from what was left of the world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• either way, his darling will have to make their way back to the farm with him in order for him to heal. it was just him and his darling as far as chris was concerned. his father left him so easily, no one else would waste their time on someone as useless and injured as he now was, if his darling hadn't taken down brandon and derek, they would have without hesitation.
• initially, when it's just him and his darling, chris is a self sabotage kind of yandere. he pushes them away, tells them to leave him to die there; it's what they want to do, they just don't have the guts to do it.
• honestly his darling's compassion is what got them into this mess, through all his aggression and outbursts they don't abandon him when they know his leg is never going to return to how it was; he'll always be a burden on their back. he tells them this, but they still stay with him.
• the only one's who matter to him are himself and his darling, he's desperate for his injury to heal so he can stop being such a deadweight. chris hates the look of exhaustion they have after hunting for food and supplies, securing the farm from walkers and hostile survivors, they're doing it all for him and all he can do is lay there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• it's chris's need to not be seen as a damaged child by his darling that fuels his obsession, the months they spend providing for him he fantasises about regaining his mobility, and shooting their leg so they become fully reliant on him.
• but chris would never let them fully heal, he's too afraid of coming across other survivors, his darling having other options. his fear of them leaving gets better but it never goes away.
• he's a controlling yandere, even with his injury, his darling can't leave the room without him interrogating them, where are you going? how long will you be? why are you going?! it's absolutely exhausting for his darling, but they probably brush it off as him being terrified of being left alone to die, he's got no one but them so why wouldn't he panic when they have to go out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• whether chris's darling is younger or older than him, they'll feel responsible for him. but don't go acting all parental, darling, if for a moment he feels like they see him as a kid, he'll explode "THERE IS ONLY ALIVE AND DEAD IN THIS WORLD, STOP TREATING ME LIKE A CHILD" but by no means does this mean he doesn't want them to tuck him in before he goes to sleep, or coddle him throughout the healing process, he's a bit of a tsun-yan, but once his leg heals, and he feels like less of a burden, the outbursts will stop.
• chris is beyond possessive, he takes down all the old pictures of the suarez family just so he can be the only person they see. he doesn't hesitate for a moment in putting down other survivors that approach the farm, he takes some sort of sick joy in knowing he's keeping someone to himself for once. he grows to hate it when they bring up their old life and family; he can talk about his all he wants though, lil hypocrite.
• resources on the farm will run out eventually, chris and his darling will be forced to find shelter somewhere else, but he's not letting them go no matter what; they'll go on hunts together, chris won't let them leave his sight even to go to the bathroom as he becomes increasingly clingy.
• if they have to join a group, he won't let them get close to anyone, and plans to kill all the members of the group and take their shelter and supplies. whether he goes through with his plans depends on how much control his darling has over his impulses. he's a ticking time bomb, and his darling will come to know that well.

I know that you dislike how Aegon was portrayed in the show, but I really like alot of the elements they added to his character. The decision to invent an entirely original character just for him to assault was one of the strangest choices by the writers. However, I appreciate how they depicted his relationship with his parents. For instance, Viserys adored baby Aegon because he thought he could be a replacement for Balon. But as Aegon grew older and began to resemble his mother, he was no longer what Viserys wanted. Balon's shadow still looms over Aegon even in his adulthood. This is very similar to the dynamic between Tywin&Tyrion, and how Joanna's shadow still looms over both of them. Aegon's relationship with his mother is also very interesting. She loves him because he is her firstborn, but she also resents him. She believes that by crowning him, she could save him, but that's what ultimately leads to his death. There's so much to Aegon's character in the show, but most of it has been left unexplored. I wish that in S2, instead of vilifying him even further, they would explore the elements they added to his character.
Actually, I agree with a lot of this. It's mostly the invention of the OC to assault that I take issue with, and the way the show's writers can't seem to decide if they want Aegon to be an outright villain or a more grey character (which I think he certainly was in the book). But this is how a lot of the S1 characterization went. Given the time jumps, they had a hard time establishing a consistent characterization that felt like it developed organically over time. It's fine to have characters act in an inconsistent way, but you have to establish that this character has two warring sides and why. As GRRM likes to say, his favorite stories are about the human heart in conflict with itself. A character can do things that are unexpected or against their own interests, but we need to understand the conflict. Aegon really only got a handful of episodes in S1, so it's not surprising that his character is undeveloped compared to Alicent or Rhaenyra or Daemon.
There are lots of things I do like about the show's portrayal of Aegon though, and some of it is down to TGC's acting choices, but some of it is on the page. I think actually the show did the best job with the writing of younger Aegon in episodes 6 and 7, where you really see a spark of happiness in Aegon dim from the start of episode 6 to the end of episode 7 as the weight of expectations settles upon him. I also like that the show has made Aegon more or less an abused and neglected child. While I don't think that Alicent is an abusive parent per se, she and Otto both get physical with him even when he's not done anything (the kick to the ribs from Otto I think does cross a line). From episode 6 onward, there's not an episode in which Aegon is not being manhandled to some degree, and I think that's a really interesting choice. He's kicked around and slapped and grabbed and all of this culminates in him finally being metaphorically shoved onto a throne against his will. I think it gives this sense with Aegon that he is never really allowed to exist as his own person, that his very body isn't his own. He is either a vessel for kingship (and thus the protection of his family) or he is a representation the challenge he poses to Rhaenyra. His feelings don't matter, his wants don't matter, his pain doesn't matter. His father, very literally, erases him, and he's raised believing his sister probably wants him dead. I think it feeds very well into his hedonism, and I'd like to see that explored more.
But I agree that Season 2 should develop his character, rather than vilifying him further. I don't actually think show!Aegon is a total lost cause but the writers are treading a thin line with him. Most of what I enjoy about book!Aegon hasn't happened yet on the show, and there will be plenty of time post-Rook's Rest for Aegon to reflect upon his life and his choices, so let's hope they use it! A lot of people die in the Dance but we've got Aegon until the last episode or so, so the show really needs to make sure he's compelling to people who aren't already invested in his book character.

Welcome to the club, Marvin.
I mean, he's very relatable to me as an autistic and aroace boy. I even run like him due to being hyperactive, when I'm just walking then I just start running, I used to say that I ran like a Peanuts' character
I got to know him better while developing my hyperfixation in Looney Tunes, starting with The Looney Tunes Show. I loved how Bugs and Lola has a "love song", Daffy sings a song about how it feels to be in love using Tina as his reference (as talking about giant sirens and giant robots but even so), Speedy has a song trying to advice Porky to have a girlfriend and, meanwhile, Marvin has a song about how his heart is crumbling to pieces for feeling betrayed about his laser beam not turning on anymore. He even says that he never felt closer to anyone in his life; I know this song was supposed to be funny or something like that but I did relate because I feel more and more distant from people and the feeling is that I bond more with fictional characters or objects (mainly books), I was ashamed of admitting that but Marvin just got me the feeling that it's alright and it isn't something to be ashamed off. And it warmed my heart. By the way, when I was younger I remember saying as a joke that I was an alien because it was my way of comforting myself for feeling wrong and out of place with people in general, btw I even had an oc based on me that was an alien as well to comfort me even more. And Marvin is a martian-
I'm obsessing over Marvin and the massive comfort he is currently bringing to me; as more as I'm searching and founding out more stuff about him, the more relatable he feels to me and this is a wonderful feeling. I felt out of place for a huge part of my life, and he makes me feel that it's okay to be different and that we can be different together
Tumblr media
I started noticing this stuff yesterday, and yesterday was my birthday so it was a very meaningful birthday gift from the universe to me to my mind. It made this whole stuff even more significant.
(By the way we both are intjs 5w6 choleric-melancholic, I grew out of thinking mbti is a big deal but I will definitely make this specific fact the biggest deal ever, i mean it has to be a sign!)
I'm currently in my flop era but I'm so comfortable with this post which I wrote with my heart so open that I won't even mind if it flops tbh
Edit/PS.: another happy coincidence is that here in Brazil where I'm from he's voiced by my FAVORITE brazilian voice actor. The one that made me realize that I liked doing different voices when I was still a child, helping me figuring out my dream of being a voice actor someday. Yay. Marvin is almost too good to actually exist as a character

Rooster [Co-Parenting] [CW: Teen Pregnancy, Divorce]
Rooster has one son, who he named Nick after his dad
When he was eighteen and angry because Maverick pulled his papers, he ran to his high school girlfriend for comfort. They took a camping trip together to let off steam. And nine months later, Nick was born.
Rooster knew that he was in deep shit, especially because his girlfriend’s parents became outwardly hostile towards him after finding out about the pregnancy. So, he quickly enlisted in the Navy and they got married for the benefits.
It wasn’t a happy marriage. The stress of being teen parents and the separation because of Rooster’s job sapped out any of the affection that they had for each other. It was a marriage of duty and convenience, which became apparent whenever they were actually together. Rooster’s wife stayed close to her parents to have help with Nick. Rooster didn’t love being far away from his son, but he knew that the arrangement was best for Nick.
Their marriage lasted about six years. It was a tense but relatively amicable divorce. Rooster’s now ex-wife got primary custody since he was active-duty and Rooster never missed a child support payment. He usually paid more than he was mandated since he felt guilty that he wasn’t there for his son like he wanted to be.
Despite the distance and the divorce, after a few years of time apart and some personal growth, Rooster and his ex-wife developed a strong co-parenting relationship. He even attended her second wedding. Rooster is in constant communication with her and Nick, though he rarely brings up his son or divorce to his fellow aviators.
Nick has a great relationship with Phoenix. She’s really the only person from his dad’s side of the family that he has ever met and he looks up to her. They email and text regularly, usually when Nick needs advice and he doesn’t want to ask his parents. Like when he needed advice on how to ask a girl out. Phoenix sent him step-by-step instructions and the girl said ‘yes.’ Rooster still doesn’t know about that.
Maverick knows about Nick, but never had the chance to meet him. He’s friends with Nick’s mom on Facebook and regularly prints out photos of Nick for his wall of memories. Especially the baby photos because that was the most painful time of the whole process. Maverick reached out to Bradley when he found out about Nick, but Rooster never returned his calls. So, Maverick settled for the photos, even if it killed him on the inside.
However, after the mission, Rooster brings Maverick to meet Nick for the first time.
They spend a weekend all together up at the hangar. Nick sees the old photos of Goose and Carole and asks Maverick for stories about them. Maverick takes Nick up in the P-51 and Rooster nearly has a heart attack after watching Maverick pull aerobatics with Nick. Rooster makes Nick swear to not tell his mom about that. Or the stunts that they were pulling on the Kawasaki. Rooster finds a patch of grey hair on his head after that weekend.
Hangman [Girl Dad]
Hangman, to everyone’s shock, is actually married with three little girls.
He met his wife while visiting his brother at UT Austin and they quickly fell in love. They were long-distance for most of their relationship before their engagement, which came with its own challenges, but they made it work.
They got married after Hangman graduated from flight school and moved out to Lemoore together. The first years of their marriage were difficult, to be sure. But they were very good with communicating and still very much in love with each other. Anyone who saw them knew instantly that they were soulmates. And most people were impressed that anyone could rein in Hangman so successfully.
After Jake went to Top Gun, they decided to start trying for a baby. Within a year, Jake’s wife got pregnant and delivered a healthy baby girl that they named Meira, which means ‘light.’ Jake missed the birth and still, to this day, beats himself up about that. It was actually the deployment that he got his air-to-air. While everyone else was congratulating him, he was in a silent, personal hell about it. He was pretty sure that he never cried harder in his life.
When he got home, he didn’t put his daughter down for seven hours. His wife had to convince him that he had to go to bed and that Meira would sleep better in the crib. He disagreed, but he listened to his wife.
Every second that he’s home, he’s spending it with his family. There’s nothing more important to him than them. He doesn’t tell anyone that he doesn’t trust about them. Coyote, however, is always around the Seresin house. Meira has a coyote stuffed animal from him that she absolutely adores. Coyote insists that he’s her favorite uncle.
When Meira turns two, Hangman’s wife finds out that she’s pregnant again. And this time . . . it’s twins. She finds out while Jake is deployed and manages to get him on a personal phone call while he’s docked in Japan. Jake is shocked before making a sly comment about his virility. His wife warns him against making jokes like that when she’s around.
He makes it back in time for the twins’ birth. Evelyn was born first and Delilah was born three minutes later. They looked identical and Jake swore that he was going to mix them up and forever ruin their lives, but the doctors assured them that a lot of newborns look the same. With time, the twins’ features came in more and it was easier to tell apart.
After the twins were born, his wife sets up a vasectomy appointment for him. And even though he goes ghost white when she tells him, he goes through with it. After watching the twins’ delivery, he knows that he doesn’t have a leg to stand on. Coyote took a very hilarious video of Jake waddling out of the office after the operation, holding ice to his balls.
After the mission, when Meira is about three and the twins are a few months shy of one, Hangman introduces them to the Daggers. Everyone, save for Coyote, is absolutely shocked. But Jake is simply smug and proud of his little family.
Meira makes fun of Rooster’s mustache. Jake had never been prouder.
Phoenix [Aunt Turned Mom] [CW: Minor Character Death]
Phoenix’s ‘child’ wasn’t actually her biological child
Her older brother Oliver had a baby girl named Riley. However, after a car accident, Riley was orphaned at the age of two. Phoenix’s parents got primary custody of Riley and Phoenix stepped up to try and be there for her niece as well as she could. She wasn’t exactly a maternal figure and she knew that, but she wanted Riley to know that she was loved.
She sent Riley a postcard from wherever she was stationed and always bought her niece the funniest most-tourist-trap-like nick-nack that she could find in whatever port or town she was stationed. Phoenix’s dad eventually built Riley a display case for them. The postcards are all protected in a box in the display case as well
Phoenix doesn’t talk about Riley with anyone. Frankly, it’s hard enough seeing her brother’s face on the little girl that had to grow up without him and she doesn’t want to delve into that with anyone that’s not her family or a therapist. It took a long time for Phoenix to even approach the subject with Rooster, but he wasn’t shocked that she would want to hide something like that.
Rooster met Riley once. They got along well and Riley liked riding around in the Bronco with the top down. Rooster sends her a postcard once in a while, knowing that it means a lot to Riley to receive things like that.
After the mission, Phoenix opens up about her niece to the Daggers. Riley meets them at the ceremony for the mission and takes a quick liking to Bob and Fanboy. After that, every Dagger member starts sending occasional postcards to Riley. She has to get another box for all of them but she’s more than giddy whenever she receives one.
Bob [Adoption] [CW: Infertility]
Bob married his high school sweetheart and has a little girl
They got married after surviving college together and Bob is absolutely enamored with his wife. He knows that she makes a lot of sacrifices for him and his career. So, he always tries to send her flowers and little gifts whenever he can just to let her know that he’s thinking of her. Their relationship is very much healthy and loving.
They started trying for a baby relatively early in their marriage but it didn’t happen. Bob always felt horrible whenever his wife pulled out a negative pregnancy test and was very clearly trying to hold it together for the both of them. They saw specialists and tried various treatments, but it just didn’t happen.
And so, after some counseling and discussing their options, they decided to adopt. Bob’s wife was emotionally exhausted from trying and Bob didn’t want to push her. It didn’t stop him from sobbing about the fact that he couldn’t give his wife the life that she wanted, but after some more counseling, they were prepared to adopt a baby.
About a year later, they adopted a little girl that they named Layla. Bob and his wife fell in love with her the second that they met her. They both sobbed so hard when they finally signed all of the papers and Layla officially joined the Floyd family. They were finally parents and they were going to be the best goddamn parents for little Layla.
Bob was home for the first four months and spent every second that he could with Layla, knowing that at some point he would have to leave her. He was always on hand for a diaper change or a feeding. He’s just so happy about being a dad and his wife being a mom that there’s nothing that could bring his mood down in those days.
Layla quickly grew into a little daddy’s girl and her favorite pastime is trying to steal or mess with Bob’s glasses. Bob’s wife made a comment that Bob needed to be better about saying ‘no’ to her before Layla grew up. Bob agrees, but there’s also nothing in the world that he wouldn’t do for his little princess. When Layla calls him ‘dada’ over the phone for the first time, Bob cried for at least ten minutes.
It was horrible to be away from his girls, but somehow Bob managed. He’s the type of dad to show literally everyone a photo of his daughter and his wife and give them a random update that the random person definitely did not ask for. But he’s just too damn cute when he’s bragging about how beautiful his daughter is that everyone lets it slide.
Bob always has a photo of his family in his flight suit. He treats it like a good luck charm. The one that he usually keeps in his flight suit has a note from his wife written on the back and a paint handprint from Layla, just to add to the support.
Around the time of the mission, Bob and his wife were well into the process of adopting another child. Both Bob and his wife came from big families and they wanted the same for their own family. They, at the very least, wanted to have two babies.
After the mission, Bob’s wife and daughter came out to visit him. And while they’re all having a great time out at the beach, Bob’s wife gets the call that their second child is waiting for them. The Daggers all celebrate the addition to the Floyd family and offer to watch Layla while the Floyds rush to bring their second daughter home.
Coyote [Boy Dad] [CW: Mentions of the G-LOC Incident]
Coyote has a pregnant wife and a little boy waiting for him back home.
Coyote met his wife through the Navy. She was a no-nonsense nurse that most ensigns secretly feared pissing off, but not Coyote. He asked her out and she declined him the first time, which Coyote respected and backed off. When they ended up seated at the same table at a mutual friend’s wedding six months later, however, Coyote tried his luck again. She agreed that time.
Their relationship progressed slowly, since they were both dedicated to their respective careers, but when they were both stationed in Virginia Beach for a continuous eight-month period, it quickly picked up.
While some people referred to his now wife as an ‘ice queen,’ Coyote just knew that she cared about getting the job done. And after seeing thousands of injuries and hearing bullshit responses that were covering up what really happened, she quickly grew tired. But when she was around him, she instantly warmed up. It was like night and day.
She got the shovel talk from Hangman without Coyote’s knowledge. She then proceeded to give Hangman her own shovel talk. They called a truce after that.
At the end of the continuous eight months and right before he shipped out to the middle of the Pacific, Coyote proposed to her. And she, of course, agreed. He was deployed for six months and right after he returned, they went straight to the courthouse to get married. There wasn’t a need for any pomp or circumstance. They loved each other and that was all that mattered. Hangman was their witness.
Their first child, a boy named Gabriel or Gabby as they called him, may or may not have been conceived during their short honeymoon. Coyote tried everything that he could to be there for his son’s birth but his deployment got extended and he couldn’t be there. Hangman actually stepped up and drove Coyote’s wife to the hospital when her water broke but he let other people help her during the actual delivery process.
Coyote returned home a month later and absolutely sobbed when he met his son for the first time. His wife had never seen him cry so hard and supported him through the moment. It didn’t take any conversation for anyone to see that Coyote was devastated that he missed his son’s birth. But he tried to make up for it as best he could.
Gabby was Coyote’s twin in both personality and appearance. Coyote’s mom brought over old photos of him as a baby and Coyote’s wife did at least fifteen double takes. Gabby was a daddy’s boy, which annoyed Coyote’s wife just a bit, but she was also happy to have such a clear reminder of her husband when he was deployed.
The first deployment after Gabby’s birth was horrible. But it was the deployment that Gabby understood that Coyote was leaving that absolutely killed Coyote. Gabby was screaming and crying and refused to let go of Coyote. It was a whole mess and Coyote tried to not break down in front of his son because he knew that it would only make everything worse. His CO told him to take a moment before getting in the cockpit and Coyote quickly agreed.
Around the time of the mission, Coyote’s wife was five months pregnant with their second son. Coyote tried to not think about it too much when he was in the air but after the G-LOC incident, he broke down to Hangman about it. When he calmed down a bit, Coyote called his wife and stayed on the phone with her for hours. He didn’t want to freak her out or put more burdens on her, but she could tell with one look that he was struggling.
After the mission, she came out to visit him with Gabby. Coyote was never not by her side or without Gabby in his arms. He was so clearly a loving family man that Maverick used one of his few favors with the brass to make sure that Coyote was there for his second son’s birth. And Coyote was right there in the delivery room and through the whole process.
Fanboy [Single Dad] [CW: Strained Relationships]
Fanboy is a single dad to a little girl named Natalia, or Lia as he called her.
He was in a relationship with Lia’s mom at the time that Lia was born but while he was deployed on time, Lia’s mom dropped Lia off at Fanboy’s parents’ house, told them that she couldn’t be a mom anymore and it just wasn’t the life that she wanted, and left. Fanboy’s mom eventually managed to get a call out to him and explained the situation.
On one hand, Fanboy was pissed that Lia’s mom never told him that she felt that way about being a mom. He felt completely blindsided and felt that they could have discussed options and tried to make it work before she just dropped Lia and ran. But he was at least thankful that Lia’s mom dropped her off in a safe location and cooperated with the custody proceedings. After the papers were signed, Lia’s mom left and Fanboy assumed that he would never see her again.
He made his peace with the situation and simply focused on being the best dad for Lia.
Lia lived with Fanboy’s parents when he was deployed. She was a happy child, not unlike her dad, and Fanboy was always devastated when he had to leave her behind. Any opportunity that he had, he was writing emails or on the phone with her. He has a tattoo of Lia’s name and her birthday on his chest, above his heart.
Payback is super supportive of Fanboy and Lia’s favorite uncle. She always asks Payback for piggy back rides because he’s so tall and she claims that she feels like she’s flying when she’s up on his back or his shoulders.
Fanboy doesn’t hide the fact that he’s a single dad but he’s also not shouting the fact from the rooftops. He’s gotten some flack and comments for being a single dad in the past that just rubbed him the wrong way and so he’s cautious about bringing that up. He’s open about it with anyone that he’s dating because he’s not willing to compromise on his daughter. But he’s mostly just focusing on being a dad to Lia and his career. When his life got less stressful and chaotic, he could start searching again for a partner.
Fanboy is super protective over his daughter and tries to shield her from the world perhaps more than he should. He doesn’t talk about her mom in a negative light, mostly because he doesn’t want Lia to grow up with his residual anger and frustration. He would be honest with her about the situation when she was old enough to understand the circumstances, but otherwise, he just didn’t talk about her mom with her.
After the mission, Fanboy’s parents bring Lia to visit him. Payback and Phoenix already knew about her and he told Bob about her, but everyone else was mildly shocked. They were all super supportive of him and Fanboy really appreciated that. Lia enjoyed all of the attention that she was showered with from the Daggers. She asked just about everyone for a piggy back ride and no one could say no to her.
Lia’s personal hero became Phoenix after about five minutes around the pilot. And Fanboy started to do Lia’s hair like Phoenix’s (in a service bun) on a regular basis as a result.
Payback [Step-Dad]
Payback was a husband and a father to a boy and a girl.
His eldest, Benny, was technically his step-son. But Payback wouldn’t tolerate any insinuation that Benny was any less of his son. He was a father to two kids. Not one. Not one and a half. Not one and three-quarters. A dad of two. And he wasn’t afraid to correct people on that.
When Payback met his now wife, she was upfront with him that she had a son from a previous relationship. Benny’s dad wasn’t involved and Payback’s now wife was very upfront that her son came first and that if he was uncomfortable with that, then they should see other people.
Six months later, Payback met Benny for the first time.
At the time, Benny was six-years-old. Payback told him all kinds of stories about the missions that he flew on and took Benny to a Blue Angels airshow. It wasn’t always easy to connect with Benny since some of his interests weren’t anywhere near what Payback was familiar with, but Payback took the time to learn and reach out to Benny and they had a strong bond.
A year and a half later, Payback proposed to his now wife and they married seven months later when Payback returned from deployment. Benny was the best man. Payback had vows to Benny as well and his wife absolutely started bawling during the exchange.
Payback moved his family out to Lemoore and made sure to take time to check in with Benny about his new school and his new surroundings. Payback never wanted to feel like Benny couldn’t come to him with any kinds of concerns.
And after watching Payback with Benny for so long, Payback’s wife quickly suggested having another baby after they moved to Lemoore. About two years later, Emily Fitch was born. Payback was there for her birth and did well in the delivery room. Fanboy started a bet that Payback would pass out, but Payback was very proud to prove his WSO wrong.
Benny took an immediate liking to his baby sister and there was enough of an age gap between them that Benny seemed to understand well enough that he wasn’t being replaced. And just in case, Payback and his wife made sure to have separate days and events with Benny to assure him that Emily was not any kind of replacement for him.
Benny emailed Payback just about every day while he was deployed and Payback’s wife sent separate emails with photos and videos. Payback has a photo from the hospital with his family of four taped to the inside of his cockpit.
Fanboy and Benny get along well. Payback jokes that it’s because they have the same level of emotional intelligence. It’s mostly because Fanboy and Benny enjoy playing video games together. Benny always challenges Fanboy to Mario Kart races and makes bets on it. Payback’s wife gave Payback a telling off about that, since she didn’t need Benny continuously making bad bets on everything.
At the time of the mission, Payback doesn’t hide the fact that he has a family back home. Fanboy and Phoenix are already aware and everyone else figures it out. After the mission, Payback talks to Maverick about retiring and Maverick gets him in contact with Slider, who is a commercial airline pilot. Two years after the mission, Payback leaves the Navy to bring more stability to his family, which is now nearly a family of five since his wife is pregnant again.

Reasons why Ijin is great :)
This is going to be partitioned In sections because actual essays are for school. :/
All this is gonna be my opinion and what I see, so yeah.
Reason #1: He is so genuinely kind.
What I’ve seen is that it’s a common theme that the main characters of manhwas are kind, but it feels like Ijin wishes the best for people. For example, he never brings down others emotionally. What I’ve seen is that people make MC’s inherently jealous to add flaws to their character, but with Ijin his flaws come from his inability to be vulnerable ( we’ll come back to that later). It’s really refreshing.
Reason #2: He cannot lie for his life.
I just find it so funny that he is only able to lie by omission and when he actually gets a ‘good’ lie out , they see right through him. That leads to our next point
Reason #3: He has no poker face.
Sure, he is able to hide his past, but by other characters he is extremely easy to read. Like how Maya was able to find out that he didn’t kill the numbers just by his face alone. I just find it funny because of his non- existent poker face it we get those bulging eyes shots.
Reason #4: He is pretty.
Do I have anything else to say ?
Reason #5: He is so hot .
I swear my heart skips a beat anytime we get a handsome Ijin shot.
Reason #6: He has androgynous features and Characteristics
To be honest, he has so many ‘feminine features/Characteristics’ that aren’t his strength, skill in fighting, and like- his hair. I swear if you were to turn him into a woman he should serve that exact same purpose in the story. He has such a gender neutral role in the story. But tbh,I think it’s my bisexual ass speaking but 🤷‍♂️
Reason #7: He’s so traumatized
I have a love-hate relationship with this fact because yes, it’s the main reason why he is a pretty 3 dimensional character but also it’s like , :’( . He acts the way he does throughout the story because of his grueling past, for example…
his food insecurity- food was probably not a main concern to the camp.
His constant paranoia- when those girls asked for his number in the most recent chapters, even when they did nothing wrong, he still had that jolt of fear before they asked.
His inability to be vulnerable- not allowing people that aren’t hospital staff to tend to his wounds, was taken advantage of by the people in the camp.
His stare- he’s gained as a way of warning people to not harm him.
He seems to dissociate when under stress- I noticed this when we where showed the first time he got a nightmare while he was in Korea, and instead of crying or reacting strongly ( What I would’ve probably done) he blanks out.
He has trouble rationally thinking when under intense stress- when his grandpa and sister was kidnapped and he was pitted against the numbers, instead of killing the numbers , he just squeezes his eyes closed like he is a child waiting for a bad thing to pass.
He has an extremely emotionally damaged inner child- We’ve seen Ijin get sentimental over things that would be considered the bare minimum ( it’s a bit of a stretch but eh) but we as the readers know that he has experienced one of the worst things that could happen to him at a young age . But, he never grew up with a frame of reference of what a normal life is . I believe this also leads to how he never matured at a normal pace, he is just allowing his inner child to have some fun, we’re told this by the other characters.
( This is the ones I could list off the top of my head) He becomes an inherently ‘flawed character’ due to how emotionally stunted he is. He gets a lot of character development that revolves around him being more honest. That leads me to my next point.
Reason #8 - Character Development
He gets a lot of character development, like him progressively opening up to his family, him making deeper connections to the people he cares about. Not being on edge all the time. One that I’ve seen the most is his ability to be merciful. He progressively becomes better at determining who deserves mercy or not and I think he’s awesome for that.
These are the reasons why I think Ijin is pretty awesome. I could write down more but it’s 11:55 and my brain is melting. Let me know if I got anything wrong about trauma response stuff. And if you disagree I’d like to know why! I don’t bite :) ( sorry the grammar sucks, I have no excuse ).

I just reread the space between heartbeats and I suddenly need you to tell me everything about it! What gave you the idea for all the story beats and details???
Thank you so much for asking (and for re-reading?? Such an amazing compliment wow)!! I'm still completely floored by how sweet everyone has been about this fic....I wrote it from the heart so the positivity really means a lot😭 Also sorry this got so long oh my god lol.
Before I even started writing, I knew I wanted to come at the whole thing from Mako's perspective. He's such a complicated and fascinating character to me, and there's so much potential to explore how the trauma of witnessing his parents' murder and the depersonalization of having to be brother-father-protector-provider to a younger sibling while also still a child led to him being SO detached from his own wants and needs and feelings, and so used to thinking of himself as a tool rather than a person, that if somebody asked him point blank what he wanted his head would pop.
But maybe...after spending a lot of time around somebody who isn't afraid to openly want things and ask for them....Mako could start thinking about what HE wants, so that when somebody finally does ask him he's able to untangle his feelings enough to actually put them into words.....?
Mako's character has such a strong presence and I didn't want Wu to feel flat in comparison, or for it to seem like he was only there to further Mako's development, so I decided to give Wu the benefit of having the setting be all about him.
This also gave me an opening to show how Mako's influence could give Wu the push he needed to shake off the spoiled prince persona and become the more mature, compassionate man he always had the potential to be. We saw the beginnings of that in the show and in Ruins of the Empire, and I like to think they'll continue on that trajectory even though I'm not getting my hopes up for any wuko crumbs whatsoever in the Mako solo comic.
(Everyone already knows this because I never shut up about it, but what makes me so bonkers about wuko is the potential for them to bring out the best in each other. That kind of dynamic is fucking gold to me.)
Anyway. Once I had the POV and setting figured out, I had to give Mako a reason to be there, and I thought, well, he hasn't yet reached the point where he's able to admit he has feelings for Wu (even inside his own head) so the pretext of him deciding he had to keep Wu alive to protect the fragile democratization process felt right and seemed plausible.
The first two scenes came together from a few lines I poached from an unfinished korrasami wip....
"That's not–I'm not–we're just colleagues, Asami," he splutters convincingly.
"Yeah? So everyone at the precinct just hand-feeds each other moon peach slices in the morning, then? That's standard 'colleague' behavior?"
"Asami–"
"And right at the breakfast table," she whispers dramatically, shaking her head in mock disapproval and relishing how the blush has spread from his ears down his neck. "We all saw you practically purring into his hands, Mako. Like a damn octocat."
....and this bit of dialogue from the closet scene
“What kind of closet locks from the inside!?”
“You tell me! You grew up here!”
“Not in this closet!”
I turned the peach lines into a whole scene because I loved the idea of Wu being like "teehee I am getting him to try something new and fun" meanwhile Mako's like 3 seconds away from just snapping and sucking on Wu's fingers. Except it's rated T so. You know. Gotta be more subtle about it lol.
As for the closet dialogue....I'm a simple woman and I will never ever get tired of closet-themed jokes and accidents. My personal headcanon re: Wu's sexuality is that it was kind of like an open secret among the royal family. Like he'd flirt with women in public just to keep up appearances but really, everyone knew. Hence the "not in this closet!" line. To be clear, I don't think the royal family was ok with it, and I'm sure he suffered for it, but in this fic I positioned him further along in his own self-acceptance journey than Mako.
The next scene didn't unfold as easily, and I really, really struggled with it. Mako was a bit of a ticking time bomb by this point in the story–the tension had been rising for a while, and I knew it had to break eventually, but I wanted it to break in the right way.
I wrote several different versions, but every time the dialogue got away from me and it always ended the same way: with them getting into an actual argument and Mako storming out the door. And that was Not the vibe I was going for. I wanted more of an "oh fuck" moment rather than a "this guy is pissing me off and I have to get out of here" one. Mako has a tendency to get snappy in emotional situations, and that combined with him being an acts-of-service kind of person made the "it's my job to worry about you!" line finally click into place.
Deep down, Mako knows he's more than just a bodyguard to Wu, he knows how Wu feels about him, but he can't let himself really think about it. Because if he's more than his work, more than just a tool to be used, if Wu wants him around simply because he enjoys his company and not because Mako is providing a service, then that means Mako's entire sense of self is built on a lie. That's a terrifying realization, with or without the added element of internalized homophobia (and I had to add it. For maximum angst.)
I knew I wanted the fic to end with Mako realizing that the way he'd been operating simply wasn't healthy or sustainable, followed by a dramatic confession of feelings, but how to get there? Well why not invent a weird old bug woman. I thought a sort of grandmotherly figure might be somebody Mako would take seriously, and also I selfishly just wanted a woman in the story lol.
I honestly don't know where the ant spiral idea came from–maybe it's something I learned about as a kid that's been haunting the crevices of my brain for years. But it felt like an interesting way to symbolize how Mako was on a self-destructive path of repeating the same harmful behaviors over and over. If he kept depriving himself of meaningful connections, never stepped outside his comfort zone, continued avoiding learning how to process his emotions, and kept letting his fear and his pain decide what he was and wasn't allowed to want, he'd only keep inadvertently hurting himself and the people he cares about. That sort of thing. But he's stubborn, and needed to figure it out himself, so I let Qin Li give him the pieces (dare I say peaches?) so he could put it all together.
The final scene was written in its entirety at the auto shop, because apparently that's where my muse lives. Great place to write, can't recommend broken cars highly enough. Anyway, I wanted his eventual admission to feel like removing a giant splinter, which is to say: extremely painful and strained, but a huge relief once it's out. Difficult as it was, he needed to actually verbalize that shit not only for himself but also because it wouldn't have been fair for Wu to have to be in a relationship with somebody who couldn't even admit the feelings were real. And of course I had to have Wu jump into his arms at some point. Couldn't resist :)
One other thing I just thought about (and can't figure where to put it in this post, so I guess I'll just stick it here) is that I had fun giving both of them weird little quirks. Like Mako being an anxious/compulsive skin picker and Wu being fidgety and refusing to wear his glasses.
OH YEAH ONE MORE THING. Mako yanking on the doorknob in the closet was 100% a euphemism. For something.

I don't know if you already talked about this, but what're your opinions on Hawks?
Because for me, while he's far from being one of the worst BNKA characters, he's still pretty low for how both narrative and writers treat him.
For one, he's an Endeavor simp. Which wouldn't be a problem if the story tackled how he must've felt about learning that the person who saved him from his abusive father is an abuser himself. But it doesn't and he still stands by his side, which REALLY questions his morality and just how much the HPSC has branwashed him.
And then there's the whole fiasco with him and Twice. I'm on the camp that he didn't have to kill him, ESPECIALLY after the character development he got.
Not once did he ever think about the time he spent with them and think "Maybe we were wrong about them, maybe they aren't as bad as we thought." But no, he still carried on and killed a man.
Now again, none of this would be a problem if the narrative actually called him out on this and he actually suffers consequences. Such as his wings being burnt to where he's essentially left quirkless or faces public backlash... but none of that happens.
Instead it's treated like he did the right thing when this series is supposed to make us question what really makes a hero and if some of the things they do is really right.
Well that's apparently out of the window if him killing a man is justifiable in these people's eyes!
Hi @theloganator101 👋,
My opinion on Hawks is that I really, really don't like him.
Now let me explain why:
Missed Potential
Hawks's set up is interesting, a HPSC spy, being raised in an abusive manner to be a hero at the cost of his identity. The spy angle also made it look like he could jump ship to the villains side at one point, it was heart warming to see him (seem to) genuinely like Twice for a time.
Then he betrays and kills Twice. I didn't like that.
But it could have been interesting to have seen the fallout of this.
Had Dabi succeeded in permanently disfiguring Hawk's when he burnt his wings off in retailation.
Had the HPSC threw Hawks under the bus as their scapegoat once they realised he was of no further use to them.
Had Hawks experienced a moral crisis / breakdown for having killed a good person (someone who he liked) essentially for nothing because he could have captured and put him in jail instead.
Had Hawks been horrified by the fact that his idol was a child abuser to a similar degree as his own father.
Instead we have the Rotting of Hawks character.
Canonically instead of any of these interesting plot points we have the phenomenon I like to call the 'rotting of Hawks character.' This is where he degrades from a character with an interesting premise to someone flat and aggravating to read.
There are several reasons why this occurred:
No consequences are experienced from killing Twice.
Hawks remains a hero (they are in a time of war) but Hawks doesn't even lose any popularity, if I remember rightly. He killed a man running away in cold blood when he could have knocked him out! Come on!
Hawks doesn't lose his wings or voice permanently from Dabi's attack. He gets a new hair cut and rugged new 'sexy' scar... From being burnt to shit by blue flames. Come on Hori!
To add insult to injury Toga's Twice clone only manages to give him a couple of small scratches in her final fight when she should have been gunning to kill him this whole time.
And Hawks thinks of Twice's memory as a good guy who supports his friend to turn around and support an admitted and powerful "Hero" child abuser... Just fuck off.
When Hawks sees Toga's Twice clones he just yells to kill them again... Wow...Do I need to elaborate how much character stagnation this is and how much I hate it?
After the interaction with Lady Nagant all Hawks's interesting dark edges are scrubbed away to become - Endeavor's bootlicker. *Shudder*
The way the HPSC was essentially killed off screen never to be mentioned again marked the beginning of the death of the interesting Hawks we were introduced to - more Hawks's flashback imagery is linked to that damn Endeav doll that I want to set on fire rather than elaborating on what the HPSC training IS.
Hawks is stagnant in adoring Endeavor and experiencing no conflict supporting a 'redeemed' child abuser despite being a child abuse victim himself which is irritating to read. Especially since we are meant to see this as sweet... Not some type of unhealthy projection on Hawks end.
He doesn't die when he should do and this just nulls all stakes...
Hawks doesn't die to Dabi back in the war arc (although he probably should have), he doesn't die in the near death moments he had against AFO in one moment it turned out to be a projection all along which killed all excitement for that fight.
The worst that happens is Hawks loses his wings to AFO, Tokoyami who is a complete innocent in all this, also loses his quirk to AFO. Hawks doesn't suffer alone here. Add on to the fact that AFO is a bastard who likes to steal quirks and this really isn't a consequence - rather a occupational hazard of fighting AFO (this action also bites AFO in the ass later.)
Furthermore, Hawk's 'wins' such as the rebelling of the Vestiges in AFO caused by Vestige Hawks just feel unearned and like asspulls recently.
All of this means that Hawks is now a character I don't like but also don't care too much about because Hori killed everything interesting about him. Hori also doesn't have the balls to actually kill him off and risk upsetting his stans.
So I am now stuck having an internal groan now nearly everytime I see him on the page.

I always thought it troubling how Lisa always was portrayed as the golden child who had her parents respect and attention, had interesting emotional episodes about her hobbies and how they relate to her relationships with others (Lisa the Drama Queen, Lisa the Vegetarian, Lisa the Greek) growing up to have a successful career in every alternate future episode the Simpsons has had so far (Lisa’s Wedding, Bart to the Future and Future-Drama, Holidays Passed) whereas Bart was always portrayed as the black sheep of the family who’s got no unique talents outside of causing mischief, his relationships with others is nowhere near as focussed on as much as Lisa’s since most of his episodes are either him falling in love with some girl or doing something stupid and facing the consequences. And future episodes always portray him growing up to be either a depressed loser or a divorced man struggling to connect with his own children. There even times where the show was just cruel to Bart for no reason. Like there was a whole episode where the city of Springfield villified poor Bart cos he lost a baseball game. Not to mention there was a 20 year long running gag of Homer strangling Bart for comedic effect.
I think his fame of being a rebel kid from the 90s has really affected his characterisation, even to this day. People forget this but back in the 90s, Bartmania was everywhere. People thought Bart’s devil may care attitude and one liners was peak comedy but because of this, the writers realised that he should always be this rebel who’s book dumb but still had a good heart cos that’s what people wanted to see. Which is fine, but that doesn’t give that much dimension to a main character. And that’s gonna get old really fast. And it did.
He became flanderised and almost turned into the show’s second biggest butt monkey next to Homer. Homer’s antics and him getting his comeuppance is funny cos he’s a grown man with the mindset of a bratty child and that is something that will never stop being funny. But Bart is a kid who may not excel at schoolwork and likes to cause trouble but he is a legit good kid with a good heart.
And the show mostly treats him like the butt of a joke or constantly remarks that he’s never gonna amount to anything in the future.
Even in episodes where he develops new hobbies that would be ideal things to expand with his character are dropped quickly whereas Lisa gets a whole episode about Buddhism and that is implemented throughout the show whereas Bart gets one episode about him taking up drumming as a hobby and the show is like poof gone. Like has no one noticed that Bart got a LOT of episodes of him caring for animals? Why don’t we have an episode where he wants to be a vet or wants to work in a zoo part time but ends up in a crappy cleaning job and makes friends with a beluga whale or something.
I just think Bart gets way too much negative attention and is severely underdeveloped for a main character in a 30 long sitcom show

REAL STRANGER THINGS 5 LEAKS!!!! NOT FAKE!!!!! READ AT UR OWN RISK PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Season 5 begins with a ten minute musical number where everybody expresses their feelings in song, including Max. This is how she is revived.
In the first episode, Murray drinks twenty-two shots of vodka before getting behind the wheel of a large truck. He is never seen again.
Will dies in the first episode after he is hit by a large truck. He didn’t look both ways :/ too busy staring at Mike.
The first seven episodes will be a slice-of-life style sitcom starring Karen, Ted and Holly, set entirely inside the Wheeler’s house. Sometimes you can see the apocalypse happening outside the window.
The last episode will be twenty minutes long. Ten minutes will be spent recapping the previous seven episodes.
Mike and Eleven break up, only to get back together with Ted and Karen’s encouragement. They move into the Byers’ old house together and do not participate in the plot.
Will comes back to life, but he dies again once he sees Mike and Eleven in his old house. They laugh and throw his body into the Upside Down before making out to “Smalltown Boy” by Bronski Beat.
Brenner is immortal, but nobody cares.
Jonathan and the Demogorgon have an emotional heart-to-heart. The Demogorgon becomes the positive father figure that Jonathan always wanted.
Joyce develops an unhealthy obsession with magnets. She cannot go anywhere without her magnets. She must ensure the safety of her magnets.
Max heals from all her injuries completely.
In episode 7, Max accidentally drinks some Demogorgon slime by mistake, she becomes a Demogorgon. Lucas still loves her though.
Hopper dies, but is revived by Eddie who is a vampire, but he dies again, but is revived by Will who is a vampire, but he dies again, and this time he revives himself.
Joyce breaks up with Hopper when Bob comes back as a vampire. Joyce becomes a vampire herself, and they have a third child called Renesmee.
Bob revives Will so he can be a part of the family again, but Will decides to stay in the upside down instead.
Max and Lucas leave Hawkins together and never come back. They own a skateboard-basketball shop in Wyoming now called “Stalker & Co.”
Barb never actually died, she just got transported to our dimension and a body double was left behind. She’s a real human now, and a piece of her soul exists in every Barbie across the world.
Jonathan and the Demogorgon go to Lonnie’s house and beat him up.
Will spends the rest of his days playing Dungeons and Dragons with Vecna and the creatures of the upside down. He lives a satisfying life in those cold, slimy depths.
Vecna becomes a skincare influencer after installing Wi-Fi into the Upside Down.
Dustin and Steve spend the entirety of Season 5 launching a Haircare brand together. They become the world’s first multi-billionaires.
Hopper eats a sandwich at some point.
Mike and Eleven get married and have 11 kids, ten of whom are called Will. The last one is called Eggo. She was a mistake.
In the last two minutes of the final episode, Argyle, Erica and Mr. Clarke team up to save the day. The rest of the cast watch on while eating popcorn.
The series ends with all the dead characters coming back to life and high-fiving, before yelling in unison, “THAT WAS CRAZY, BUT I’VE SEEN STRANGER THINGS!!!” Then everybody claps and laughs and cheers and celebrates and claps.
In the final thirty seconds, Vecna suddenly erupts from the ground and torches everybody. Then he uses his time-travel powers (he has time-travel powers) to reset the Universe so that the series never happened.
The episode ends with MatPat explaining everything that just happened, before whispering “And that’s a film theory… and that’s a film theory… and that’s a film theory…” this goes on until the credits finish rolling.
LOOKS LIKE SEASON FIVE WILL BE THE BEST ONE YET!!!!! GUYS THIS IS ACTUALLY REAL!!!!!! IT’S TRULY AND CERTAINLY HAPPENIGNGNG……. I WOULD KNOW BECAUSE I AM ACTUALLY THE FORGOTTEN THIRD DUFFER BROTHER NOBODY KNOWS ABOUT. And that’s a film theory
Let me know if you have any other confirmed and 100% real leaks!! :)

I honestly can't imagine Rayla not dooming the world for Callum if the situation required it. She literally called going to dark places an "act of love."
I mean, there's a few things:
The opinions of anyone working on the show (cast, crew, etc.) are not gospel and not the default, nor do they need to be treated as the be all end all. You can disagree and that's more than gouda
People will give misleading answers and/or answers that are true in the moment (i.e. would S5 Rayla doom the world for him? Maybe not. Would S6 Rayla after some development? If the answer's yes, that's gotta stay under wraps) to avoid potential spoilers
I was actually honestly pretty surprised 1) someone asked such a direct question and 2) even more surprised that it got directly answered, since it feels like it could skirt into spoilery territory potentially for next season given the possession plot line. (I was personally gunning for a "what do you think Rayla and Claudia would think of Callum's S5 dark magic use, if they knew?")
I will admit Paula's response was, admittedly, what I've leaned to for Rayla as a whole in terms of that World vs Loved One binary. One of the things that makes Ezran and Rayla interesting to me was the uncertainty of "would they risk [insert thing here] for their immediate circle of loved ones" routinely being a "I don't know." Not that they necessarily 100% wouldn't, but just that I was genuinely 50-50 split on whether they would, or leaned towards No or Yes but could see the other way being plausible too. That uncertainty paired with the certainty I had that Callum would, and that contrast, has always been one of my favourite things about the Trio as a unit and Rayllum as a duo. It's one of the reasons that Heart vs Duty conflict for Rayla as a character has always been so compelling to me and why 4x07's introduction of the "You have to kill me" conflict was so (and is) exciting!!
But I digress.
I don't think that Rayla's letter is the best example of what I think you're trying to illustrate (I'll raise something I think that is perhaps more indicative in a moment) purely because the whole reason Rayla ultimately left was to protect the world. I've talked about this before in my "Priorities in Through the Moon" meta from ages ago, but Rayla does not go into the portal because she's primarily concerned about finding her parents. Callum researches the portal and helps recreate it and his whole side of things because he wants to help her with her parents, even being the one who brings them up when they resolve to go ahead. Rayla's concerned primarily with Viren, stating her reason for going into the portal even after finding out it requires facing water:
"Listen, Callum. Soren was worried about Viren too. Worried that we never found his body. We need to know what happened to Viren. He's a threat to the whole world! This might be the only way to be sure he's actually gone."
This is in line with how Rayla operates and references her parents in her letter to Callum, given her goodbye exchange for her parents:
Rayla: Surprised you even noticed, considering you've got more important things to do. Lain: Nothing is more important than our favourite child. Rayla: I'm your only child, and you're still leaving me behind for the Dragonguard. Tiadrin: We have to leave, Rayla. For you and for all the other Moonshadow children as well [...] This is our duty that we're doing for Xadia. For you. Someday, I hope you see that.
Just as trust and love are not necessarily synonyms to her, duty and love are not necessarily exclusives. Her parents left out of love for her and for the world, even if that meant prioritizing the world over her in the immediacy of their choice. Rayla leaves to go kill Viren out of a similar mutual desire to protect Callum, yes, but that's mostly there in the fact she left alone and didn't want him to stop her. Not necessarily that she went to hunt down Viren in and of itself, but that she went by herself ("I was trying to protect him. I knew I had to be strong alone"). Protecting the world - and a Viren-less world being one Callum would be safer in by proxy - was worth blowing up her relationships to her.
Going to dark places wasn't what she was doing just to protect Callum - that played a part, too, but her primary goal was to hunt down Viren (going to said dark place) alone and by leaving Callum behind, hence the "Stay safe, and stay in the light. Don't look for me, and don't follow me" - a sacrifice she was making on her own so that Callum wouldn't have to, but still for a collective cause that she deemed meaningful: "I have to make sure Viren never hurts anyone ever again." (Which is also why she goes after Viren again in 4x09, tbh)
That doesn't mean leaving in TTM wasn't also an errorful, self-destructive choice to leave (see like every other TTM meta I've written) but that the goals she could conceptualize was to protect the world, full stop. Anything else along the way (getting closure with her parents, protecting Callum) were extra stops and bonuses to help her have the courage to go through with it, maybe.
This is also in line with how we see Rayla treat other scenarios where it's a choice between individuals / individual relationships vs the potential to help or harm the greater good
Prioritizing the world / new mission of stopping the assassination mission > her relationship with Runaan ("This is a miracle, a chance for peace!") in 1x03
Being willing to and convincing Callum to let Ezran search for the egg under the ice in 1x06
"Then it's time to go. War's coming like the world's never seen, unless we get the wee dragon home to his mom" (2x01)
"Callum, I know you trust them, but by the time we know the truth, it'll be too late. Do you understand? We'll lose everything" (2x03)
"So please, allow him to pass into Xadia and help bring the Dragon Prince home. Because I don't think I can do it without him" (3x01)
Do I even need to specify 3x09? Or TTM?
"I hate it too, but we have to keep moving [...] We can't save everyone, Soren. There's too much at stake. I'm leaving, and you better be right behind me" (4x05)
"If I threw the coins in the lava, would it release their spirits? Or would they just be trapped in some of eternal burning agony? Let's trade. You let him go, and I'll give you the coins." "I'm not making a deal with you!" (4x09)
"I love you, and I haven't forgotten about you. But I can't help you yet. Because right now, the world needs me. Callum and Ezran need. There's a great evil trying to return to Xadia, and we have to stop it, at any cost" (5x01)
"It hurts me to know they're trapped like this. It's agonizing. But I know our mission comes first. The world is in danger, and you can trust me to stay focused" (5x04)
This is, arguably, the strongest core trait she has in common with Viren, just for the record, especially in arc 1. He's very greater good centric as well, just with the push of his own ego and thirst for power + he only considers humanity's concerns, whereas Rayla has minimal pride and arguably not enough ego, and she wants to improve situations for everybody on a collective scale post-1x02 onwards.
The exceptions to this consistent behaviour is largely 2x07 and 3x08, which I've talked about more in my Dragon Quartet meta (from Dec 2019 good god??). These are arguably two of the times, in addition to TTM in some ways, where Rayla is operating the most out of her emotional core ("My allegiance is to my heart" —Tales of Xadia) and what feels 'right' on that level. For better or for worse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"That dragon was defenceless, and I just left there." / "So I have to stay, and defend the Dragon Queen."
I say Rayla is at her most emotional largely because in each scenario she's abandoning the mission of keeping Zym safe (and thereby her own identified "world's best hope" for peace) in favour of protecting a different individual dragon. This seems to go completely against the "mission first" if indeed, like in 1x03, Rayla can abandon one mission she's devoted herself to in favour of another one just like that [snaps fingers]. If she cares about the world first, why prioritize these individuals, neither of whom she particularly knows or personally cares about? BH also spells this out for us, since it's likewise a mirror to her offering to go up into the tower with Callum to defend Harrow even though the egg should technically be her first priority:
But to Runaan and those like your parents, love is rooted in all families, all creatures. Souls like that feel called to protect everyone as fiercely as those they hold close.
In 2x07, Rayla is at her best, if least logical, whereas in 3x08 she is at worst (until arguably S4) and likewise her least logical ("I know you feel guilty, but you're not thinking straight"). In each scenario the boys stand a Much better chance of survival and of accomplishing their mission with her from just an objective point of view (they don't know Xadia's terrain at that point and circa 2x07, neither could really be combatants in a fight since Callum didn't have a weapon or primal magic). We could slap an easy "you're being a dumbass and dooming the world" label on it and be done with it. But not only does Rayla think the boys are fully capable of completing their mission without her ("I believe in you") but 'the world' as a stake never enters her mind.
Instead, Rayla looks at each as an individual last stand where the only neck on the chopping block is ('rightfully') hers. Whether she's right or not to do so regardless of how she frames it is debatable (I personally view it as understandable, admirable, but more than a little short sighted or guilt ridden considering The Stakes), but that very much seems to be the thought process.
She's not risking the world, in her mind. All she's risking is herself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that's perfectly acceptable to her as a trade off. It always has been. It's one of the perfect kind of microcosms of the cognitive dissonance she lives under, where why should she care about herself when there's bigger fish to fry ("Don't worry about my hand; the egg is all that matters now") ignoring the fact that 1) she can & arguably should let herself care about two things at once and 2) she's going to be much less effective as a team member / dual wielder if she's recovering from a messy at best recent amputation.
This path of "Rayla works to save Callum because she doesn't care about what happens to herself" is admittedly probably the option I leaned towards most when it comes to Rayla in S6, even if I do wonder how it might be streamlined time / arc wise cause it does elongate her arc further. Either way, this is the route that lets her not kill Callum, working free him instead while also being able to justify trying to free him to herself, because she's not conceptualizing the Big Picture. She's narrowing it down to him and her and deciding if one of them has to get hurt in order for him to be freed, it's gonna be her.
It's not the Character Development route as I call it, but it sure is consistent.
TLDR; While I still lean towards Rayla having an ultimately positive impact (i.e. breaking Callum free from potential brainwashing) in s6, it would not surprise me at all if from her perspective it is framed as a self-sacrificial move on her end > a big picture risk to the world, even if that's how Callum may see it.
More thoughts on Rayla + the possession plotline in S6 here, here, and here.

What I liked and didn't like about Gyro in 'The Last Adventure' (long post)
This is a repost from my defunct blog. Just a summary of what I liked and thought they could've done better in how the last episode handled Gyro, especially his relationship with Boyd:
Gyro and Boyd at Webby's 'birthday party' at Funso's
Tumblr media
This was in the beginning of the series finale 'The Last Adventure', and was the very first time Boyd was seen since 'Astro B.O.Y.D.' (which was only the 6th episode of the third season and came out May 2020; 'The Last Adventure' was the final episode and came out March 2021… just let that sink in).
Liked: It was so AWESOME to FINALLY see Gyro and Boyd together again, and I squealed so hard at this scene when I first watched this episode! He's spending time with Boyd at a birthday party, eeeee! (And I touched on the significance of this scene in this post).
Liked: Boyd could have hung out with Huey and the other kids (which definitely would've been awesome too), but he chose to spend time with his dad instead! That is so cute!!
Missed opportunity: Does anybody else wish Gyro had actually been smiling at seeing his son enjoying himself as a 'definitely real boy'?? Like, c'mon! (And back during the third season, Frank was asked on his Tumblr blog if Gyro and Boyd’s relationship was improving, and he emphasized- and I quote- “Oh, yes. Very much so", but we never really learned what that looked like.) I mean, it probably did warm Gyro's heart to spend time with Boyd and see him just being the happy, free child he'd truly become, but still, he could've looked less indifferent or awkward!
Tumblr media
Missed opportunity: Gyro should have laughed here while shielding his face from the candy, instead of the irritated reaction when it hit him. Sheesh, Gyro, lighten up! ☹ Why’s he still so easily irritable, especially when it’s just Boyd having a good time?
Tumblr media
Missed opportunity: Now that Gyro's attention has shifted from solely Boyd and more onto the main event, he's really got his typical grumpy expression on and is standing a bit further away from everyone else. It’s very disappointing he wasn’t shown to be at least a little happier and closer with everyone. It’s the final episode, all Scrooge’s friends and family have gathered together in one place for this very important event (not only to celebrate Webby’s birthday, but to finally take down their greatest threat of all), and all these characters have changed and grown so much since the start of the series or when they were very first introduced (which even Frank and Matt, the show’s creators, admitted in an interview). It would have been more meaningful if Gyro had been smiling like everyone else to show his character development since 'Astro B.O.Y.D.' I know people don’t change overnight, and Gyro had a LOT of trauma that affected him for so many years, but still… it would have been nice to show him with a little more growth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Liked/Missed opportunity: During the entire scene where everyone was gathered around Webby for cake and the birthday song (which was the signal to destroy F.O.W.L.'s security cameras and launch their raid on their secret headquarters below Funso's), Boyd was sitting on Manny's arm instead of Gyro's shoulders. On the one hand, I like that Manny was holding Boyd because that tells me he became sort of an uncle-figure to him... but it would have been twice as cute if he was sitting on Gyro's shoulders, since that would've been more proof of how close they'd become!
Gyro and Boyd on Webby’s family board
Tumblr media
Liked: I LOVE that Boyd apparently became an official member of Team Science off-screen, and that there's a string linking Huey to Boyd to say they're best friends (because you wouldn't think so by his absence from the majority of the third season).
Missed opportunity: Why wasn't there a string linking Gyro and Boyd?? And why is there a string between Boyd and Doofus?? It was never actually confirmed whether or not Boyd went to live with Gyro or if he continued staying with the Drakes, but regardless, Gyro and Boyd are absolutely family (FAR more than Doofus was, since he only saw Boyd as a mere machine and an interloper in his family, and there's the little fact that Boyd never had a choice about being part of the Drakes' family... which is why I don't get why he'd choose to still live with them after 'Astro B.O.Y.D.' when he embraced his identity as his own free person with the ability to make his own choices)! Boyd was Gyro's first and greatest creation, his pride and joy, his son in every sense of the word!
Where was Boyd and Fenton after they found May and June?
Tumblr media
Missed opportunity: In this scene right after they find Webby's clones, we see Gyro, Huey, Lena, Beakley, Scrooge, Donald, and Della all gathered around, analyzing the clones and trying to figure out why F.O.W.L. created clones of Webby. But there's no reason why both Fenton and Boyd couldn't have been there too! They could have helped- Boyd is a highly resourceful Junior Woodchuck like Huey, and his brain is a supercomputer, making him super intelligent; and Fenton is a scientist (especially ever since Gyro promoted him at the end of 'Astro B.O.Y.D.')! And neither Fenton and Gyro nor Huey and Boyd interact at all in the final episode, so more missed opportunity to further develop their respective relationships too. And I mean, come on, why didn't they especially take what opportunities they had to have Gyro and Boyd share screentime or interact??
Tumblr media
In the same scene, most of the rest of the kids burst into the room, anxious to learn more about the mystery of Webby's clones too. But no Boyd (Gosalyn was nowhere to be seen in the mansion either, oddly enough, but I'm assuming she was there somewhere with Drake/Darkwing)!
In fact, we didn't see Boyd and Fenton again until later when everyone boarded the plane to go storm the Lost Library. I'm assuming in the above scene, Boyd was with Manny and Fenton (wherever those two were, but I'd like to think they were somewhere in the mansion too). It was a shame Boyd didn't at least interact with the other kids while everyone was at the mansion, because he didn't hang out with them for nearly the entire third season (not on-screen, anyway)!
"Look After Your Brother"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Liked: SELF-EXPLANATORY. :D :D And I love how sincere, protective, and loving Gyro sounded and looked when he entrusted Lil Bulb with Boyd's safety. This was their most dangerous threat yet, and Boyd's first adventure with the Ducks, and Boyd and Gyro had been together again after 20 years for only some months... so, it only made sense for Gyro to worry about his son (and what makes it even more touching is that Boyd is a superpowered robot, more than capable of taking care of himself, but Gyro still worried about him). He trusted Lil Bulb with Boyd's life!!
(And Lil Bulb would indeed look after Boyd; after the plane crashed when the kids were onboard alone, following Dewey's sky-battle with Don Karnage, Boyd lost his body. So, Lil Bulb removed his bulb and attached Boyd's head onto his own body, which is how they stayed for most of the rest of the episode.)
Missed opportunity: They didn't exchange a single word to each other or even hug, despite knowing what a dangerous mission it was. :( :(
Why didn't Gyro seem more worried for Boyd?
Missed opportunity: I covered this in a separate post here, but throughout most of the rest of the episode ever since Gyro learned Bradford captured and planned to destroy everyone even remotely associated with Scrooge and his family (and Gyro spent the majority of the time captured himself, along with HDL, Webby, Gandra, and Ludwig Von Drake), he never once showed any sign he worried about or missed Boyd. Not once did he bring Boyd up.
The victory scene at the end
Tumblr media
Liked: It was cool actually seeing Gyro and Fenton share screentime, even though they didn't interact!
Missed opportunity: Why the heck was Boyd/Lil Bulb standing so far away from Gyro and the rest of Team Science there (especially after they were separated the entire time)?? He should have been right there with them (especially in front of Gyro, or even in his arms)!
The plane-ride home
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Liked: AHHHH. Boyd lying in Gyro's lap as he reattached his head, Gyro tenderly cupping his head, both smiling so lovingly at each other! Together again where they belong, safe. It's so beautiful. YES. JUST YES. You can really see the love between them in this scene.
Missed opportunity: Like the "Look after your brother" scene, it's sad they didn't say anything to each other or even hug one last time!
The end credits
Tumblr media
Liked: BEAUTIFUL. The very last we'll ever see of them, and Gyro is smiling the biggest, happiest smile he's ever done in the entire series. In fact, I feel like this is the moment that perfectly summed up Gyro's healing journey and development (which we didn't really see after 'Astro B.O.Y.D.', but this almost makes up for that). He looks so happy and free. It's like it just hit him all-at-once here that he's no longer burdened by the demons of his past, that he's got Boyd in his life, and that he's part of Scrooge's family too.
Yeah, so many of these little details could have easily been improved without costing much time and budget. But when they nailed it, they nailed it!

Rosie - Chapter 2
Summary: Rosie’s getting bigger, and she’s decided it’s time to learn how to put one knee in front of the other, and begin to crawl.
Pairing: Eddie Munson x reader, dad!eddie
Word count: 2,930
Warnings: tooth rotting fluff, established relationship, children, worries about child development, talks of second child, sexual indications but nothing is explicit, lots of cuteness, not beta read, Eddie is destined to be a girl dad istg
AN: Had this one just looming open on my docs for a while, since idk I was worried about posting for some reason? Maybe the imposter syndrome hit me. But I moved bits around, added and took away certain stuff, and I think (?) I’m happy with it? Anyway, hope you like it! This is a continuation of my Rosie fic; you can find the first one here!
Now that Rosie was sleeping through the night, things fell into a comfortable routine. A promotion at the music shop meant that Eddie was able to earn enough for you to take less work at the diner, now only a couple of shifts in the evenings while he worked Monday through Friday. Coming home in time for you all to to be together as a family, the weekends free for days out or lazy days on the couch.
Your daughter was growing up so fast, now nine months old and already showing the signs that she’d begin to crawl any day. You’d spent God knows how long a couple of feet away from her as she lay on her tummy, cooing and holding out your hands as you encouraged her to start moving. But just like her Dad, she could be stubborn, deciding to do things in her own time. You were kneeled in front of her when you heard Eddie come home, her beloved dragon stuffed toy in your hands as you tried to inspire her to move of her own free will. Smiling when her head turned towards the archway that led to the hallway, listening to Eddie shuffle around as he took his shoes off.
“I’m home!” he called out, turning the corner and grinning when he saw the both of you. Placing the white plastic bag he held on the couch, he gasped in delight as he took a few steps to scoop up his little one and nestle her in his arms. “Hey there, princess,” he cooed, peppering her little cheeks with kisses in the way that never failed to make her squeal in delight. “Ya missed me?”
Her tiny fingers found their way into his long hair, gently tugging as she squirmed to look up at him. It always made your heart warm to see the two people you loved most interact with each other, the adoration Eddie had for her clearly visible in his eyes as he looked down at her.
His attention was turned to you as you got up off the floor, taking the few steps to press a kiss to your lips. “Hiya sweetheart,” he murmured, shifting Rosie in his arms so a hand was free to come up and tuck a strand of hair behind your ear.
“Hey you,” you grinned, wrapping your arms around his middle as he looped one of his own over your shoulders. “How was work today?”
“Same as usual,” he answered, letting you go after giving you a little squeeze and one final kiss to your temple before motioning to the bag. “Managed to drop by family video on the way home.”
You smiled as you picked it up, pulling out the couple of VHS boxes to get a good look at his choices. Some were for you and him to enjoy, but you couldn’t help the relieved sigh fall from your lips as you noticed the bright pink box with the cute characters from Moon Dreamers on the front. Though the cartoons were only background noise to her while she played, you noticed that she seemed to enjoy some more than others. “They finally got it.”
“Yup. Steve managed to snag it as soon as it came back,” he smirked, looking down at Rosie as he gently bounced her. “Because we both know that if Mommy had to watch one more episode of Muppet Babies her head would explode,” he crooned in his softly spoken baby talk, each word laced with tenderness. Though she didn’t understand a word of what he said, she still smiled like it was the best thing she’d ever heard.
You chuckled as you put the tapes away on the shelf by the TV, before heading into the kitchen to get a start on dinner. “I think if I have to hear that theme song any time soon, I’m actually gonna lose it.”
“Don’t worry sweetheart. I’ll make sure Steve knows that there’s a household ban on all Muppet related videos for the next couple of months,” he chuckled, lounging back on the sofa with his head resting on the arm and pulling his legs up to rest his baby girl on his thighs. As you chopped up vegetables, you kept looking over to watch them through the archway that connected the rooms, fondness blooming in your chest as he softly spoke to her about his day. Answering her nonsensical babbles with “I know, right?” and “that’s what I said!” as he grinned. Deciding after a while that pretending to eat her toes was a far more interesting endeavour, making her squeal with delight as her adorable laughter filled the living room.
With everything in the oven or simmering on the stove, you headed back to sit down and relax for a little bit. Eddie shifted so he sat beside you, Rosie happy to sit in his lap as his arm came to rest over your shoulders. The few minutes were filled but nothing but blissful silence, save for the game show that you were both only sort of paying attention to. You were just happy to have Eddie’s fingers draw absentminded patterns on the skin of your lower back, your head on his shoulder and letting your eyes close as your eyes fluttered shut and you let out a long sigh through your nose. Having a child and a home was one of your lifelong dreams. Didn’t mean that it wasn’t tiring at times.
“Almost forgot to ask how your day was,” he finally whispered as he looked down at you, figuring you would appreciate some time to shut your eyes but also knowing full well that you wouldn’t be too happy if dinner got burnt.
“Was good,” you murmured as you curled further into his side, forcing your eyes to open. “Managed to get some laundry done, and spent a little while trying to get her to crawl. She’s nearly there, but it seems she’s content enough with sticking in one spot for now.”
“She’ll get the hang of it,” he said softly, knowing that you sometimes worried about her development. “Sometimes it just takes some kids a little longer than others.”
“I know,” you sighed, a small smile on your face as you reached out to gently smooth out her soft brown curls. “Guess it’s good that she isn’t moving about for a little while longer. God knows how much mischief she’s gonna get into when she finally gets going.”
Eddie let out a scandalised gasp as he looked down at Rosie, wiggling his fingers that she hand her tiny hands wrapped around. “My little girl? Trouble? Never.” She looked up at him to find the source of the noise, large brown eyes that identical to his crinkling as she smiled.
“Hmm, you just better pray she won’t take after you when she’s a teenager,” you teased as you got up to check on the food.
He laughed, shaking his head as he followed behind and settled Rosie down in her high chair. “No idea what you’re talking about. I was the poster boy for innocence and virtue.”
“Tell that to my Mom’s back porch that you singed when you dropped your joint on it,” you smirked, remembering the night when you’d both got quite drunk and were too busy making out to notice the small burn that permanently blackened the dried out floorboard.
“If I remember correctly, we were sharing it,” he countered, opening the fridge to grab a can of soda. Placing it on the counter as he came behind you, he wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you close to his chest as his lips pressed into the crook of your neck. “Can still remember the hickeys you gave me that night, too.”
“Ah, to be young again,” you sighed wistfully, your eyes flickering over to check that Rosie was still okay. She seemed pretty content to babble to herself for now, though you knew any time now she was going to start wanting to be fed. “Feels like a lifetime ago now we’ve got a little one of our own.”
“Yeah,” he sighed, the sound full of blissful feeling as he rested his chin against your shoulder. “Wouldn’t trade it for the world, though.”
“Neither would I,” you whispered, turning your head to kiss his cheek. “Would always make the choice to nearly land on my ass when I slipped on those wet leaves.”
He let out a small hum, nuzzling his nose into your shoulder. “And I’d make the choice to catch you.” His tone grew quiet as he lifted his head, lips by the shell of your ear as he pulled you closer. “And for the record, I totally wouldn’t object if you still wanted to give me hickeys.”
“Behave yourself Munson,” you laughed, playfully swatting his hands as he chuckled and pulled away to start preparing Rosie’s food.
Now you were getting the hang of life with a small child, dinner times went a lot smoother. Soda forgotten about on the side, you’d grab a glass and pour it for Eddie while he sat down to feed your daughter. You’d serve up dinner, and he’d grown used to taking mouthfuls whenever she was preoccupied or still finishing the last spoonful. At first, you had offered to do it, but he simply shook his head and smiled as he insisted it was fine. You guessed it was his way of getting more bonding time with her, and you weren’t going to get in their way any time soon. Eventually Rosie would make grabby hands for the spoon, Eddie handing it to her so he could finish up eating. Sure, sometimes errant bits of food would end up flying everywhere when she found it amusing to pick up the bowl and smack it against her tray. But you could always clean up later, and it kept her happy.
Eddie was the one to take her upstairs to get the bedtime routine started, while you cleaned up the kitchen. If you strained your ears as you put away the dishes, you could hear Eddie’s voice coming from her bedroom as he read her another chapter of ‘The Colour of Magic’. It wasn’t like she could even understand it, but Eddie had insisted on “starting her off young.” She just seemed thoroughly entertained with his dramatics whenever he voiced the characters and acted out the scenes with vigour. By the time all the counters were wiped down and you could finally collapse onto the couch, Eddie came back down to join you with an exaggerated groan as he flopped beside you.
“Out like a light,” he sighed, a hand pulled over his face as he stifled a yawn.
“Sound’s like someone’s ready to join her,” you noted with a raised eyebrow, cuddling into his side as his arms automatically pulled you in close. “Wanna go to bed?”
A laugh rumbled through his chest as his eyebrows raised, his expression turning from tired to amused. “Why sweetheart, are you trying to seduce me?”
“As if it would be difficult to do that,” you countered, resting your chin on his shoulder as a soft smile graced your features.
He mocked an outrage gasp, though the upturned corners of his mouth betrayed him. A devilish grin slowly spreading over his countenance as you were pushed onto the couch, onto your back and making a soft yelp tumble from your lips. Feeling his weight come to rest on you and his mouth playfully attack your neck as he slotted himself between your thighs. You broke out into giggles, wriggling underneath him. “Eddie,” you whined with a soft smile, your hands coming to rest on his shoulder blades. “C’mon, you got work in the morning.”
“The night’s still young,” he murmured against your skin. “Don’t you wanna fool around a little?”
“First of all, ‘fool around’? What are we, seventeen?” you grinned, trying to keep your voice even when his ministrations were starting to get you hot and bothered. Eddie had figured out a long time ago exactly what made you tick, and it never failed to make your eyes flutter shut when he laved his tongue on the spot just under your ear. “S-second of all, last time we did this on the couch we ended up with a little surprise nine months later.”
His head lifted to look at you, his lopsided smile coming into view. “Would it really be a bad thing if it happened again?”
Your eyebrows jumped up as you chuckled. “We’ve only just managed to get Rosie to sleep through the night. You really want two screaming babies to deal with?”
He bit his lip as he shrugged. “Alright, maybe not yet. But when she’s a little older? Give her a little brother and sister to play with?”
You’d always known Eddie would love to have more than one. While you weren’t particularly fussed either way – your daughter was plenty to keep you on your toes with – you wouldn’t be against it, if you just so happened to fall pregnant again. It might even be pretty wonderful.
You finally nodded as you leaned up to lock your lips with his own. A soft kiss, full of intimacy. Feeling his weight shift onto one arm as a hand came up to thread through your hair. You pulled away with a soft smile. “Maybe. We’ll see what happens when she’s old enough to talk in full sentences.”
You laughed at his little victory cry, turning into a soft moan as his mouth attacked your name again. Sure, you weren’t ready for another little one yet. But it didn’t mean that that you were immune to Eddie’s charms. Especially when he made you feel the way that you were feeling now.
~
With you lounging on the couch as you watched them play on the floor together, Eddie sat cross legged on the rug in front of his baby girl as he made her stuffed dragon ‘walk’ across the floor towards her. Gently booping the top of her head with the soft nose and pulling away to repeat the process all over again. You remembered the day that the boys from Hellfire got it for her as a group gift, and how over the moon they were when you reported back that it was her favourite toy. You still had the little handmade card it came with, the words ‘to our future party member’ and a drawn picture of a very adorable cartoon mindflayer on the front with all their names on the inside.
“Babe,” Eddie whispered, causing you to look away from the TV show you were half watching to see what he was looking at. You swore Rosie wasn’t that close to him just a moment ago. “C’mon Rosie Posie, you can do it,” he gently cooed, shuffling a little further back and holding out the dragon just out of her reach.
Her tiny face scrunched up in concentration little tongue poking out of her mouth as she shakily got herself up on her hands and knees to push herself forward just a little. You gasped as you sat up, feeling overjoyed that she was finally doing it. It was uncoordinated, and she only moved a tiny amount at a time. But she was finally crawling.
“Such a clever girl,” you squealed, resisting the temptation to pick her up as she worked herself to finally reach Eddie. When you looked up at him, you could see that he was bursting with adoration and pride as his little girl finally managed to reach out a hand and grasp her teddy. You could see how his eyes shimmered with tears as he picked her up and held her above his head.
“That’s my girl,” he grinned, bringing her to his chest and hugging an arm under her legs with his hand on her lower back to support her. Smothering her little face in kisses as he sniffled. “My beautiful, clever little girl.”
She seemed to be more interested in her toy, little face pouting until Eddie shifted his position to sit with his back leaned up against the couch so he could be close to you. Settling her in his lap and nestling the little dragon close to her. You couldn’t stop smiling as you leaned down to rest your forehead on his, his head tipped back as he gazed up at you.
“She finally did it,” you whispered, giggling as his hand came up to rest against your cheek. Smoothing the pad of his thumb just under your eye.
“Told you she would,” he murmured, leaning up for a kiss that you happily gave. He looked back down at her, blissful in the knowledge he was surrounded by love. The girl that he’d chose to settle down and start a family with behind him, her hands smoothing up and down his shoulders as she pressed kisses to the top of his head. And the little one they both created, staring up at him with eyes the exact same as his own and smiling at him. Like he said before dinner, he wouldn’t change it for the world. If he had to go through all the hell that he’d been subjected to, with the shit with his parents and the bullying and the unrelenting horrors that he almost fell victim to, he would do it all again with a smile on his face if it meant he’d end up in this exact moment.

EMO TREAT AU MASTERPOST
SPOILERS FOR ALTERNATE ENDING
Essentially... What if Treat was EMO?
Specifically, what if she had stayed with her pack instead of leaving?
That's pretty much what this AU is about! Me and some friends came up with it for fun and it just kept growing lol
It takes a couple of liberties to make some things work though so it can be a bit silly!! xP
How it goes
Rather than Tundra, Timber is the current pack leader and they are both much older. Treat's parents failed to seperate from their pack, Glaze, and Treat suffered the repercussions by Timber using her as an example to her parents.
Treat eventually grows up under Timber, as he teaches her his way of acquiring food for their pack, good food. She struggles, but is forced to swallow it down for the sake of the pack. She distances herself from most everyone, aside from Timber as he is her mentor, and only really bothers with others out of necessity. Lacking empathy and becoming emotionally stunted due to her childhood makes her a near 180 to regular Treat.
Here's how she looks like!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way I see it, she dyes her hair with charcoal from fires to represent her deep turmoil!!!! or something like that, I can't think of a reason why outside of "my heart is a deep and vast void"
How are other characters/the world affected?
Starting from the pack members...
Cotton & Candy: There's not much to say, but after getting caught trying to leave the pack they haven't had much to do with everyone. Treat only really comes over to sleep and avoids them, because she somewhat blames them for what happened to her.
Timber: Pack leader and mentor of Treat. He didn't want to have to hurt Treat, but her parents took it too far trying not only to take their daughter with her, but Powder & Fennel too. He took her under his wing so she wouldn't get influenced by her parents anymore and decided to take the opportunity to teach her to be the next generation pack leader... Though no one but his mother knows that yet.
Fennel: She still has a giant crush on Treat, and is the only one that actively goes out of her way to hang out with her! Treat thinks she's a nuisance, but slowly entertains Fennel as she grows curious as to why she keeps trying to get close to her.
Other characters such as Powder and Tundra aren't really all that developed, so feel free to think up something for them!!!
The pack members don't just end there either...
I made up some characters for the AU aswell!! woohoo!!!!
They're in a small little fic I made on Mochi meeting Treat in this AU, but I want to do more with them!! The descriptions will be short though since there's not much with them yet.
Cocoa: The oldest, and the only one in his human form. He's playful, carefree, loves poking fun whenever he can.
Mallow: The middle child. His fur is dark gray and he's the strongest out of the three. He's boisterous, a bit stubborn, and competitive.
Creme: The youngest child. Her fur is white and is sarcastic, confident, a bit self-absorbed. She's also very prissy which annoys her older brothers.
Stuff they all have in common are also sharing admiration for Treat, despite always getting caught causing trouble by her, and the three of them are very close knit.
Tumblr media
Characters outside the pack
Moxie: Unlike in the canon, she has lost her confidence due to being forced back to be with her mother in ginseng, following the loss of the Foxy Den. She eventually ran away from her and now hopes to learn how to survive in the wilderness by stalking the wolves around, including Treat.
here's a little concept sketch of her!!
Tumblr media
she's pretty dinged up :(
Mochi: Due to Treat never having left Glaze, she never arrived in Frosting to live in the cabin and save Mochi from Moxie. She ends up fearing predators a bit more due to this, and is usually escorted by Juju outside. However, she still wishes to slowly start being more independent again. Overall though, there isn't much changed with her! (including her design)
Trick: Treat's parents never got to form the other pack near their Master's house because they never got to leave. Due to being unable to find any wolf pack settlement nearby, their Master reluctantly brought Trick together into hiding with him. Even if it would cause problems along the way, he didn't want them out fending for themselves. Trick would slowly start the learn the truth behind their Master's identity.
Will Treat, Mochi, and Moxie still get together?
Yes!!!!!!! However, with the way it's going, Fennel will be included too!! I have it somewhat outlined how I want it to go, but you'll have to read my friend's fic on it!!!
Speaking of fics...
Here are ALL the current fics and side stories so far!!
MAIN FIC (collab between me and @blobsicle): LINK
Short Stories:
(these are by me :3)
Fennel x Treat
Treat and Mochi Meeting
HOW TO TAG THE AU
Use either '#Shifted Story' or just '#Emo Treat AU'!!!
that's all for the AU!!! I hope you guys like it so far :3>!! Feel free to add onto any of this, or add a spin!! i'd love to see any of it so feel free to tag me!!
I'll be scheduling some posts with art i've made :)
