This is a short one, but I hope yall enjoy anyways.

Hobie isn’t a very insecure person anymore. He might have been when he was younger, but at this point hes realized that other people’s opinions about him and how he acts just doesn’t matter.

This doesn’t mean he looks down on you feeling insecure though, as he knows everyone is different and just because you are dating doesn’t mean you are like him.

I can’t imagine him being super soft and squishy about insecurities though. If there’s something you feel insecure about, think like your appearance or how you act, Hobie would tell you straight up that he thinks you are amazing and that other people’s opinion shouldn’t matter, as the only person whose opinion matters is your own.

He would still comfort you though, he just wouldn’t be the type of guy to keep telling you over and over as you cuddle that you are beautiful, unless that’s the kinda stuff you want, but even then, I can’t see him as the type of person who compliment you for no reason.

Hobie gives the vibe of someone who doesn’t say I love you or goes overboard with compliments, since it loses its power if you say it too much. He shows he loves you in different ways and shows his love mainly through acts.

So, if you are insecure about your appearance, he would go out of his way to kiss your neck or make some comment about you looking great. If you are insecure about maybe your smarts, hed make some offhand comment about how you are way smarter than you think.

He is so casual but so sure about his statements that it would help you find some stability and confidence in what he says, since Hobie isn’t the type to lie. So, when he says you are handsome, or that you are smart, or what have you, it has to be the truth.

He will still hug you or hold you if you need it though, but Hobie likes to talk through feelings, finding their origin so they are easier to understand. He would of course let you feel all the things you need to feel, but Hobie knows form experience we have to learn to accept ourselves and love ourselves.

Just being in a relationship with Hobie would help you with insecurities over time, as hes so confident in himself and in you that it would rub off on you. He will always hold your hand though if you need it.

He always speaks up when anyone disrespects you too, even if it’s the underhanded subtle insults, he always makes sure to call it out. No one disrespects his lover or anyone for that matter, but he can’t help but get a little extra annoyed when anyone preys on your insecurities.

Hobie could never see your insecurities in you, if you feel bad about your body, your voice, your hobbies, etc. He thinks you are amazing just the way you are, and you mean the world to him. It would end up with him helping you work through your issues over time, maybe even without either of you even noticing it.

Ok I’m gonna shoot my question here while you are in a analysis red hood mode (??): what do you think about his mommy issues (and fandom’s making it a trope)?

ooooo oh ok ok. this ones touchy. while i dont think its that present in canon i do think its there and worth the however many fics there are about it. like obvi theres probably a lot of boring and/or bad takes about it but the concept itself isnt running contradictory to canon or anything. i reread aditf a bit for this and had some tangents ill put in another post, but back to mommy issues.

jason had very little parental presence in his life at all. dads in prison, moms sick, he has no one looking out for him. probably why he and bruce seem to have bonded fairly quickly and jason accepted him as a father figure faster than any of the others. jasons bar for what makes a decent parent was nonexistent bc hed never really had someone dedicated to taking care of him. (even damian was hesitant, bc bruce being his dad would create distance between him and dick bc dick would no longer be his mentor, and hed gotten a bit attached)

jason accepted bruce as a father, but still missed his parents. he loved and grieved for both of them and most likely missed the idea of having normal parents in general in addition to missing his parents themselves. his love for his mom is still there when he realizes shes his step-mom instead, but it's accompanied by the hope that he still has living family out there.

the fact that jason went on a mom hunt in the first place is already enough that im like, yeah, i see where the mommy issues talk comes from. but i think you can go a few different directions with it

so theres catherine todd, who we only really know as being sick and a substance user throughout jasons childhood up until her death. iirc she died while willis was either already dead or in prison and so theres a period of time where jason (10-12ish?) would be taking care of his mother alone. being your mother's caretaker when you're still in elementary school does not make for a normal relationship.

and sheila haywood was uh. an illegal surgeon of sorts who fled the country and started a new life. apparently had an existing connection to the joker when she lived in gotham. he knows who she is and he knows how to blackmail her. while sheila describes it to jason as an operation gone wrong, joker calls it an "illegal surgery that killed a teenage girl" and sheila didnt seem to dispute that. probably watered down a lot of details in her explanation to jason. (the combination of 'illegal' and 'teenage girl' feels like it could imply an abortion? but it's left vague) and THEN it turns out she was stealing money meant to be used to save starving refugees before the joker even showed up. she sure is something. she still tries to help jason after he helps her, but don't skip over the part where she helps him after he helps her. she is still a person, but she is a fundamentally selfish person in every way. her final words include her commenting on how jason was a good kid who loved his mother. ive seen people take her final moments as a show that she still loved him, but i don't see it. one of those "a person doing a fraction of a good thing doesnt absolve them of everything else" kind of deals.

in both cases jasons mother(s) were relying on him. he never had an opportunity to be cared for and treated like a child. i don't think jason would have specific "mommy issues" about either of them, i think that he'd have some heavy feelings about the concept of a mother itself. what's it like to have a mom? does he still have a chance to be cared for and nurtured? his childhood was over before he had even met batman. becoming robin and being murdered is just tripling the issues he would've already had about his childhood regardless.

this is starting to veer off topic but

yes im finding a way to make this about Brothers in Blood. bite me. but even the first time i read this something that really stuck out is how jasons imaginary version of dick refers to him as a kid. dick doesnt really... do that. he did back when jason really was a kid, but this page says a lot about jasons self perception. he still wants to be taken care of, even if its not specifically "mommy issues" he definitely yearns for a chance to be treated like a kid again, after having rarely gotten that kind of care when he was a kid. (this page in particular is the first page of nightwing (1996) #121, which is one that i have a physical copy of <3)

when i think of gillion and caspian, one of the first things to IMMEDIATELY pop into my mind is their relationship regarding the undersea, specifically leaving. be warned, this is a bit of a LONG ramble:) for the sake of time, ill only be focusing on gillions side of things

leaving home is one of the biggest things you can do because then you either learn to govern yourself or be controlled by what was taught by you.

its a very strict binary that tears you up from the inside out as you switch sides, for the better or for the worst. i look at this and i look between those two it is immediately so FUCKING apparent how the cycle of learning and restructuring your thinking process is stored between them. thats how they live, thats how they dance around each other in each others head

gillion is pretty obvious. when he was a child he was cold.

the thousands of pounds of pressure did not make up for a lack of warmth that was offered and redirected into an inhumane idol to be looked and wished upon like a shooting star. in the same way i think he learned that he will not last forever, and so the moments he have have to hold some merit, some sort of worth. now imagine him, kicked out of a home he didnt want to miss, a family who was kept in the dark and left to the fate of the seas. and the seas decided he would live. So it had to be for a purpose, correct? thats how the ocean works, it kills it births and then it repurposes whatever is left as food for whatever is lucky enough to make it out alive. hes been repurposed from whatever failure he was in that damned city to be something greater, something new.

Then comes along Caspian, right? And he wrecks all the things gillion thought he knew.

He values leisure, the small simple things. hes a man who could run his hands across anything just to feel the textures YET, he knows how to fight. fight better than how gillion does, though not surprising. he was always told he was subpar for a hero handpicked by gods and a cannibilistic sea This brings him to a crossroad. he has his goals - live comfortably, enjoy things while you can, hes one of the biggest epicurists he could think of, and gill shares a ship with chip whos impulse drives mistakes and successes alike. and there, he finds the difference between the different flavors of hedonism: calculation.

Caspian is fucking smart.

gillion can see it in how he weaves between people and shops respectively, in how he can change his demeanor to achieve a goal. his charisma has a motive every time he uses it, it has a purpose every damn time he employs a joking manner or a flirtatious tone. its all calculated to hell and back, and it entices him because THAT is what he was meant to do and learn. he follows him helplessly because he has parts of his home with him, both negative and positive he NEEDS to see how to do it all, what it all fucking meant (maybe along the way hed find what he was missing all these years). but every time he tries he hits a roadblock because caspian, free and live, contradicts EVERYTHING the elders taught him. hes impossible to exist as a paragon.

And then without having the chance to ask himself, caspian offers out his hand, and offers to teach him.

ANOTHER time he got chosen, he dreaded it when it happened. hes nothing but a follower. from the prophecy to Careless elders to Awful teachers, its what he does worst. He accepted regardless. he was impulsive like that. a decision like that could get him killed one day. hed get scolded for acting so quickly on something he barely knew, but its just a wound to post pone treating. just like every other one hes ever had

he tries to bring his familiarity with harsh treatment and punishment, but instead every time hes prepared to learn something, he gets something to heal instead

Its fucking frustrating, to be completely honest. FIRST, it is a gentle fixing of his mistakes as if this happening in the real world could cost him his home and people. he has more targets than ever, yknow. from chip and jay, to ollie and wherever he came from, to every person hes protected and saved in every individual island, as well as the sea and everyone on it. every single person the moon protects with her waves and every person the sun scorches too harshly. its all up to him hes tried to bring it up, but caspian just tugged at his determination to learn and improve, and gillions a follower before anything. he follows a prophecy, he follows chip and jay over an unfamiliar world, he follows wherever his blade lands to avoid a hit.

Gillion started noticing how smoothly he started moving

it was terrifying, despite being his active goal. It got less scary when he started hearing caspians smile creep over from the caunch shell after what had to be a hundred hours of calling and training

its different from jay or chip teaching him the world, because if it truely disturbed gillion to stop the stagnation carved into him he could just chalk it up into a cultural difference.

in cases where he clung on desperately to what he built himself around, he could go as far as to simplify it all into a moral inferiority, something he needs to teach instead because hes a hero. he must spread good and purge evil. unfortunately those sometimes meant damaging his fucked up sense of honor and pride for something he wasnt even familiar with beyond scrolls that keep getting manipulated in translations and a sword thats awkwardly weighted when he held it.

gillion would say its alien, but he keeps catching details of his home

he sees it in the 23 pieces of jewelry across caspians face. he sees it in the way he dances, always caught slightly offguard that he isnt in the air as long as he wanted to be. he sees it in the small amount of times gravity caught his friend by surprise, even if a change in which foot caspian placed all his weight hid it to everyone else. he sees it in how caspian taught him the dances for songs he could only ever hear behind closed doors.

He keeps seeing suggestions that maybe his home was harmful in general, but thats bullshit. Could a purely cruel place make his sister? his mother who fought to keep him? his grandfather who was the only one who knew how to properly teach him his own history? No.

And Caspian all but confirms it. the ocean is not inherently harmful, it just wants to live in the same way he keeps repressing.

He builds a new home for himself above water, but not absent of it.

Alright, so I know the Dragon Boys Roleswap Shuffle is a pretty basic AU but I feel like I have an interesting take on it!

For the art today I wanted to draw Fusion!Yuya (hes gotta have some absolutely messed up anglicised name... Eia? Taking suggestions lol) being intimidating during the Xyz war, but it turned into POV: You're getting turned into a card. And stormy ambiance because Winter storms have been pretty crazy over here...

AU thoughts under the cut!

Ive seen a couple of people theorise that Yuya, if roleswapped with Joeri, would still be happy-go-lucky but in a murderous psychopath kinda way. Personaly, I think the opposite.

In my idea of a roleswap, Yuya would be grow up as an orphan, desperately doing whatever he could to eventually get into Academia, which he does around ~10 years old.

Having pretty poor social skills, but still having a positive attitude, he'd make some acquaintances in the first month or so until he catches the attention of Leo Akaba.

Leo, terrified of what Yuya would become, decides to isolate him. While his peers are jealous that he gets special treatment, Yuya is over the moon and starts to see Leo as a father figure and idolises him, following his every move.

Around the same time, Fusion!Yuzu would be taken in Leo as well. Over time, Yuya would see how much better Yuzu would be treated than him, the way Leo doesnt let him too close to his replacement daugter, the hate that would occasionally flash in Leo's eyes when talking to him, and he would start to resent them.

Yuzu's no saint in this AU either, being coddled by Leo so much that she'd view herself above everyone else. She'd figure out how to manipulate Leo into getting whatever she'd want, and rub it in people's faces. She'd act perfect around Leo, but as soon as as shes away from him, she'd demean and undermine the people around her. And Yuya would be her favorite verbal punching bag- as hed also been selected specially by Leo-and save the worst insults for him. She'd probably be known as The Princess of Academia.

With hs confidence beingbeaten down by this version of Yuzu, shunned by his peers who are jealous that he was hand selected by Leo, and just knowing that Leo hates him for a reason he has no idea of, he'd just... mentally shut down. Spiralling into a deep depression.

He would never smile. Barely speak a word outside of duels, which he'd be ruthless in. His eyes would be cold and dead, other than occasionally showing flashes of an intimidating gold.

Of course, even though he knows Leo hates him, hed still do anything for the Professor, in a futile attempt to be loved and accepted by him. Hed be a major player in the war, and hed still kidnap Xyz!Rin and Synchro!Ruri

He'd still be the personality with the most amount of Zarc in him and at the end of the AU, standard!Yuuri would probably show him that he deserves to smile and that no matter what hes faced in the past, there will be people there to support him and be his friends.

After a charater arc duel where he breaks down after defeat and vows to become a better person, Leo would have an angry rant about him being useless tool to the reigime and a worthless demon child that he never should have taken in and expunge him, where then hed fuse with Yuuri.

My thoughts for his deck would be something similar to Sergey's deck, but instead of humanoids theyre animals (like the performapals) in a very old, black and white, rubber-hose style constricted with vines, chains and locks to symbolise a trapped but not lost sense of innocence.

YESSS okay thank you for indulging me. my ideal diego ending is him getting defending by wright & co (fitting for two reasons: phoenix being affirmed as mia's true successor & diego accepting that) - they dont get him off of everything, obviously. misty's murder is a Complicated Situation and considering diego himself has no idea what his intentions were at the time, the best they could probably do is getting him a reduced sentence via imperfect self-defense. frankly i think he'd be upset about not getting a full sentence particularly given the stunt he pulled at the end of bridge to the turnabout (aka outlining detail by detail of his motivation and the setup for the crime so that phoenix could convict him + also SUBMITTING THE KNIFE HE GOT CUT WITH AT THE TIME OF THE MURDER AS EVIDENCE EARLIER IN THE TRIAL INSTEAD OF LIKE. HIDING IT OR GETTING RID OF IT OR ANYTHING???? insane behavior) . very much the kind of person who would attempt to absolve his massive guilt complex by way of life in prison/death row. either way despite his protestations theres only so much you can do trying to go against the unconquerable willpower of the fey women bc whether he likes it or not maya is definitely out there on the witness stand batting for him. so he probably spends like 5-6 years in jail (yes if we're taking this au more seriously then the art is technically contrary i was just going for the vibes + what my heart desired etc etc)

anyways so imperative to this is that he loses the mask, permanently. obviously its representative of his "new identity" as godot (typical covering of the eyes/"windows to the soul" -> obscuring of the true self symbolism etc you get the gist of it) but also arguably his inability to let go of what happened to him with dahlia (re: losing his sight) and move on, particularly considering its what becomes his downfall in the end (the lights at the scene of the murder/bloody writing on the lamp). so in short getting rid of it is also him moving on from the godot persona and i think it would be incredibly good for him. so obviously after he gets out of prison maya & pearl immediately adopt him into becoming glorified older-brother-in-law.

they try really hard to get him into steel samurai (results are debatable. theyve explained the difference btween nickel samurai and steel samurai 20 different times and it hasnt seemed to stick yet (they are unsure whether this is him messing with them or not)) and pearl reads him warrior cats books & shoujo of questionable quality and they hang out with mia on the weekends (pearl & maya take turns channeling). i also like to think that they make him do stupid impressions all the time and force him to sit through far too many steel samurai episodes (maya spent like a good 7 months hunting down one of the like handful of remaining limited edition steel samurai dvds with audio description tracks and paid objectively way too much money for this) and go with him to his hospital visits. whenever he tells pearl & maya no over something stupid they inevitably drag out mia (results vary wildly. its like when one of your parents says no so you go ask the other one except if the other parent was dead and also theyre your older sister & her boyfriend)

living in kurain i think also would just be good for diego anyways because as established by all of the incidents in aa3 he has issues facing his problems head on and likes to either avoid them aggressively or combat them in the most self-destructive cirumventing manner humanly possible or like project them onto everybody else around him but in kurain he wouldnt have anybody to project onto and he cant avoid them if theyre literally staring him in the face 24/7 and also maya & pearl wont let him flounder around in self pity or lock himself in a depression room for like 4 months straight so hed have to figure it out one way or another. the irrelevancy of the men there would also be good for him i think since i think hes really truly done with being in the spotlight for a long while/forever.

also maya should get as many older siblings as she wants esp since all of her older bio family members are either a) wildly unhelpful b) straight up dead or c) some combination of the above. and to be honest i think maya needs somebody who is like 100000% in her corner no matter what happens - kurain is like objectively a flaming dumpster fire and given all of the. Issues. with the branch families vs main family, even if she's trying to be better than her predecessors theres still going to be so much bitterness and anger and so on and so forth and like. pearl is nice but shes also like eight. theres only so much maya can lean on her (and, given maya's . everything. shes not going to do that much at all). and phoenix is great obviously but also he is not . Living With This. so even if diego is an outsider & a guy and therefore going to have like. negative sway in any of the actual stuff going on, he can still be an adult emotional support for her.

also also i think him sticking around in kurain would be super good for pearl too bc of her own experiences with the men in the family ditching all the time bc they feel left out (/mad about the whole hierarchy situation) so to have diego sticking around even though his Special Someone is notably dead and they werent even married/parents so he has no obligation to stick around other than that he wants to . it would be good for her. i think

hey! since the poll ended a while ago, i would like to give my two cents in-

If the general public or the twin's social circle found out about their relationship, how badly would everyone react? Would it be like a pre-HOM situation where everyone is tryna persecute the maximoffs? how would the kids (Billy, Tommy, & Luna) play a role in all this? (and yes, let us all finally acknowledge that these three kids are (long-lost) siblings) #sc*arletv*s*on fans feel free to rage hehehe

In their close social circle I dont know how many people are actually shocked. But suspecting something youd never say outloud and being publically told it are different. It would be a negative reaction generally. I feel like superheros have got better things to do than actually attack them for it, exclude, sure, make nasty comments about, some people probably, but no ones gonna try and arrest them I dont think (definitely not pre-HOM 'maybe we should kill them' ideas). As Toby's said, Wanda's friends might be worried about her, especially those of them that dont like Pietro. But none of them are likely to accept it comfortably if she tells them she's happy. She might get quietly pushed out.

Now its different if the general public find out (who have less reason to already think it). That'll cause a lot of outrage, and the angry crowd will always be louder than the crowd that don't care. That demands a PR response and some of the other heroes would be obliged to either publicly denounce them, argue that its fine and there should be no legal consequences (unlikely), or argue that the evidence is fake.

Frankly Wanda and Pietro should probably be arguing that the evidence is fake. I imagine Wanda would just pretend nothings happened and try and go about her life. A lot of her social circle who were already doing the same about their suspicions might continue to. I can see a lot of the avengers doing that, especially if she's still working with them cuz she's a big asset as well as a friend. But the xmen and that lot, the periphery social circle, who like her less, are much more likely to take the opportunity to attack her.

Pietro doesnt have a lot of friends to lose. Or a lot of good public rep. I do think he'd tailor his general response to fit with Wanda's even if he wanted to tell everyone to go fuck themselves. I see Wanda wanting to keep out of the spotlight (this isnt a wrong of hers to earnestly take accountability for and make right, it's one of the most important things to her heart that people want to insult), and Pietro taking the spotlight for them if she thinks either of them should make a public statement. He'd get in a lot of scuffles about it, especially if people are saying unkind or crude things about Wanda to him to goad him about it. Magneto is more likely to be his problem, either gonna deny it or blame pietro but almost certainly deny especially publicly. Maybe hed try and set Wanda up with other people he approves of more like in ultimates lol.

Wanda wouldnt want to stop doing her helping people job even if the people were horrible. I cant see her running off with Pietro to live away from any hate really, even if he might prefer that. She'd rather negotiate (or magically influence) her way out of a prison sentence if anyone actually managed to bring a legal case against her and keep working even if that means alone now. Maybe move her official domicile to new jersey or rhode island or wherever cuz it wouldnt be a legal crime there even if everyone still hated it. She'd be sadder and lonelier but people leave her that way a lot and she keeps going.

The only thing that might get her really set against other people is if they start bullying her kids. They still have the shield of being magically created even though everyone's gonna be theorising they're Pietro's. (I can see Vision taking the opportunity to blame her and the kids being someone elses for their marriage problems which would add fuel to the fire.)

Billy would hold onto the magically created thing both as a public defence and internally cuz he would not want to think of himself as an incest baby, he might step away from Wanda for a bit to collect himself but he does idolise her. It would be good for him to get over that idolising and appreciate her more as a real person with human flaws and struggles and not his favourite celebrity, and maybe this situation would be a way for that to happen. Or maybe he'd get over the incest first and things would stay the same. Or maybe he'd so not get over it that he starts to feel negatively about her instead. I don't like that but it's possible for him. Especially if he's recieving negative attention, he doesnt handle that well, but also he's a baby god how many people want to test him.

Tommy would definitely fight people bad mouthing him mom in public. He's not worried about protecting his own reputation, he doesnt have a particularly good one and he sets himself against other people easily so what they think is worthless to him. I don't see him being bothered about Wanda and Pietro's relationship. Its more likely to drive him closer to his mom (and dad) because he's setting himself against the people who are against them. People giving him a hard time is nothing new, and he's gonna give worse back because he's vengeful like that, and he can blow things up. (Tbh I'd like Billy and Tommy to argue about it, that would be fun.)

Luna would be far less affected because she isnt their kid, just Pietro's. And she's more than used to people saying bad things about her dad. In-marriage doesn't seem to be taboo for Inhumans so thats not gonna bother her. Maybe the other kids at her school try and bully her about it, but she's more than capable of spilling all their secrets which might keep them in line, and as I said, it's not about her like it is her half-brothers. At the least though, it's another nail in the coffin for Pietro not getting custody if he tries to again.
